This place is pure (or should I say "pyuh") Cranston. The waitresses have thick accents, the post-Mass crowd on Sunday is out in droves, and it has that quintessential mid-century-ethnic suburban feel. The food is more interesting than standard diner-breakfast fare with options like bananas foster French toast and cheesecake pancakes. Servings are huge so consider sharing or ordering just one. I had a waffle with strawberries and a side of home fries. They were tasty. Coffee was bottomless and perfectly serviceable. If you want that authentic Cranston experience come to Athener's.

By far Athena's has the best omelet in town. It is served fresh and hot with tons of delicious home fried potatoes. The wait staff is always so willing to help even when crazy busy. Their coffee is bottomless and delicious and the specials are always interesting and delicious as well. I highly recommend them! Five stars all the way!!! If I have any criticism it is that the wait area is very small and Sundays are always crazy in there. Plus the decor/drab gray walls are kind of depressing. But other than that Athena's is my favorite breakfast spot, no questions asked.

Breakfast heaven!! So many choices and all sound so delicious!! It was my first time trying this place based on a recommendation from a friend (her second time). I ordered the sweet bread French toast and she ordered the monkey bread French toast. The portions are huge -- 5 slices!! We also shared a side of the hash brown potatoes which was a perfect salty compliment to our sweet breakfast entrees. I was only able to finish half of the French toast and ended up eating the second half the next morning and it was still very good! I will definitely be coming back to try something else off the menu.

It took a long time to get service and a long wait to get our drinks... We orderd to share two eggs, sausages, baccon, pancakes, home fries, ham, and toast... The homefries were brunt and smoshey and did nnot look appetizing at all yet surprisingly the pancake was amasing... Our waitress had an amazing personality yet she did not reaturn when she said she would

First time coming here...didn't like how we have to sit ourselves. Ordered French toast and I loved how it came with fresh strawberries. Everything was delicious! Will be back.

This place is great, the food is always good and the people are nice. Everything I have tried has been good, never had a bad meal. I love coffee, so I really like the fact that they use big cups and you don't have to keep asking the server for a refill. I wish other places were like this.

Wow! The portion size is incredible. Sure, it's only two pancakes but they're the size of a plate... Each! Seat yourself, very prompt and quick to refill your coffee. Prices were reasonable and even a little lower than I expected with the amount you got.

Hearty portions Friendly staff Fair prices Breakfast here is pretty standard fare - not a lot of flare or bold flavors, but they do have their own take on the offerings, at least. There was also a decently-full Specials board that looked like it incorporated more seasonal ingredients than the regular menu - I'll likely try one of those next time. Prices are very fair (a quality, filling breakfast was ~$17 for two), as meal portions are very hearty, and they don't skimp on ingredients. Service was relatively fast, and coffee refills were frequent, which I always appreciate. Our server was extremely friendly and accommodating of young kids. The atmosphere is sort of straightforward "convenience breakfast" more than anything, and so not really remarkable. Our wait for a table of four was about 4-5 minutes at 11:30 on a Sunday morning, as people were cycling in and out pretty steadily. Parking in the shopping center lot was readily available despite a full crowd. This is a solid 3+ and deserves further visits - I'll be back.

Where to begin... One of my favorite places in the state for breakfast. Quick service, great portions, well priced. It can get a bit crowded, especially on Sunday, but come on! It's a good breakfast place! Crowded is a good sign people.

Nice little place. Very clean organized and even on a snowy day it was pretty busy. I dont get a chance to get out for breakfast's but the eggs were cooked as perfect as I can make them. Hash was crispy like it should be. Home Fries crispy not soggy. The killer is its 1 min from my house that goes to show you how much attention My kids told me about it and if they like it well its good enough for me.

I tried Athena's because of the good reviews I read on Yelp but was disappointed at the costly, mediocre food. First of all, there is no kid's menu so my son'a meal cost $10 for one pancake, eggs, sausage and milk. I ordered a half order of the Banana's Foster French Toast and a mushroom and cheese omelette. The French toast was good but was swimming in syrup, and the waitress must have forgotten that I asked for a half order b/c it took up an entire dinner plate. My mushroom omelette was disgusting-- they use canned mushrooms which I find disgusting. Home fries were flavorless as well. The bill came to $27 for just my sone and myself! Never again!

Breakfast is a success! Heaping portions, of everything. Flavorful beyond words. They offer daily specials, and each is in a world of it's own. I'm a fan of the banana's foster, which is three huge slices of Portuguese sweet bread, grilled french toast style, smoothed in a rum sauce, and covered with fresh banana's and pecans. This is a must try. The only down fall is that it is small. It seats maybe 75, and it is a seat yourself. The longest I ever had to wait was about 20 -30 Min's. SO I went here the other day and I was drinking my tea and eating my breakfast. I noticed that one of the past mayors of Cranston was conversing with the people in front of us. So I was trying to explain this quietly to my BF sitting in front of me. While I'm whispering I'm playing with the empty creamer containers. I stacked a few together and was about to squeeze them to crush them and all of a sudden the top two shot off like a rocket and went flying out of my hands like 5 feet in the air and landed on the lady talking to the Mayor. It was pretty hilarious...

In a shorter review than Dolores wrote on 3-17-13 this place was great. Great food and the muffins were fantastic. They are a meal in its self. The staff is friendly and the price is right for you get. Yum!!

This is the best breakfast in the area, by far. Everything is well prepared, their French Toast is incredible and addictive. We will never eat breakfast anywhere else.

Great friendly service. The food was hot and tasty. They don't cheat on the portions. Can't wait to try the omlettes. Had a very basic breakfast this morning.
