Don't pre order if you really need it! I order food for a Christmas breakfast, when I spoke to them they assured me they were open 7:30 AM, even said I would pick up night before, but they said no need we're open. Showed up this morning sign in window said open at 8, banged on window telling them I had an order and had to go to work, just got the 8 fingers up and they could have cared less. This will be the very last time I ever get anything from them. Also, someone at work had the same problem with and order they had placed on Thanksgiving. What a way to treat your customers!

Borrelli's was my first bakery when I first moved to RI several years ago. Since then, I have moved closer to Providence but still find myself in Coventry on occasion and stop in for the odd nibble. When I first went there I was wowed by the freshness and the 'local' atmosphere. It was great to see folks come in just for bread. The locals also go here for the cake and pizza strips and calzone / pies. While my experience has taken me all over RI and I have found other places that do the odd thing better, this is still a steady, consistent quality place that is perfect for Coventry. It iIs nothing fancy (unless you are looking at the cakes), but it is all high quality. So if you are a Pastry snob, this might not be your place. If you are someone that loves RI and all of the bakeries that she has to offer and you love the 'local' connections, this place will be right up your alley.

I think Borelli's has the best pastry's/ cakes in town by far. They have been in business for as long as I can remember and they have a great selection. Everything tastes very homemade & fresh and the prices aren't bad at all. I will continue to give you business Borelli's!!

Worth the Drive!! There's this guy see, let's call him Georgy. Georgy is a punisher. The type of person who loves to torture others with food but not just any food, pastries and cakes from Borrelli's. Before this guy starts bringing their stuff around, the only other Borelli I ever heard of was a fine shirtmaker in Naples. It is tough to paint this picture so that you can perceive the true nature of Georgy. First he brings this cake last summer to our get together that is a scale replica of a Classic Burger - picnic style. Sesame bun, yellow cheese, bib lettuce and burger patty. Now when I say scale model, it really looks like someone carved this out of foam and spray painted it, movie style. They even added giant plastic ants - also to scale - to simulate those big black ants that are always running over the top of state park tables. Imagine if you will, a group of 11 people, late afternoon, smoking cigars with just enough time away from lunch to need a little sugar snack. Who's going to mutilate this cake that looks like it won some award on TV? What if it is just all sugar and no taste? Who gets to take home the ants? Can you begin to see the devious nature of the one called Georgy? Anyway, the cake was sliced up and enjoyed. Surprisingly not very sweet but extremely flavorful. Frosting was rich without the vegetable shortening aftertaste, cake inside was moist with its own tasty-goodness. A true balance of flavor, sweetness and moistness. So as the months pass, there are the Crab Cakes, Turkeys, Snowmen, Halloween Cakes, fruit tarts, carrot cakes, an apple pie that I would do prison time for as well as hundreds of small format pastries and cookies. They all have the same attention to detail and prepared by people who understand when not to over sweeten their cakes. All of this from the simple store front in Coventry. Enjoy

The Birthday cakes at this bakery are really wonderful. We have always been a patron of the bakery for brownies and lemon squares. Recently, we ordered a birthday cake with all whipped cream frosting for our Mother's birthday. The cake came out decorated lovely and the textures and taste of the cake was complimented on by everyone. We are a family who has a tradition of making a layered white sponge cake birthday cake for everyone's birthday decorated with homeade whipped cream. So to have to subsitute a bakery cake was an uncomparable alternative to the real thing. But Borrelli's really passed the test. In the future, when we do not have the time, I will order a birthday cake from here again. At another party, my friend's came over, and I had someone pick us up some brownies and lemon square. They saw the box and instantly asked what we got with wide eyes, as their italian family loved Borelli's cakes as well.

Calzones are the best i've ever had in RI. The desserts are fair. The peanut butter cupcake is moist and very tasty and never to the point of being overwelming. I can't say the same for the red velvet the frosting had a very strange taste it was almost a citrus flavor, def not the cream cheese consistancy I'm used to.

Love how they are open really really early. I work at a dealership and needed 35-40 Cannolis. The lady who was helping me was very quick with everything. I was in and out! They have a large selection.

Been going here since a little girl. Haven't visited in years but had a craving for their delicious spinach roll! It still tastes the same. My other faves of theirs are the fig squares and lemon squares-they are stuffed! A bit on the pricey side but hey. To top it off, we're Italians and I look forward to my annual zeppole-the original kind!

Thank you so much to Borrelli's for making our daughter's Baptism cake! I gave them a photo of the cake I had in mind and it came out pretty much identical, not to mention delicious! The ordering process was easy and I got so many compliments on how beautiful the cake was. We also love Borrelli's for their reasonable prices on pasties and cakes for any occasion.

Why do all the creme pastries taste like lemon? Ricotta zeppole, cheesecake, ricotta pie all taste like lemon. My family is Italian true immigrant Italian and there is no strong lemon flavor in those pastries. The Italian bread is good. That's it. Anything else I've tried I've regretted eating.

Nope, nope NOPE! There's no way I ate meat for the first time in 23 years. Yeeeah...so um, my mother had gone in here after a wake in the area to get us some treats. She came home with a calzone and a couple of pastries. I asked my mother what was in the calzone, she said "just eggplant"." I asked the girl behind the counter and she said the calzone was 'vegetarian, but not vegan.'" Fine with me. I'm not vegan anyways. I start eating the "eggplant" calzone and SURPRISE!!! Pepperoni!!!! Awesome. I spit it across the room, and waited. I knew what was coming. I knew that my body could not digest meat anymore, so eating this was like eating a bag of marbles. My body would naturally want to reject it. And of course, about 20 minutes later, up it comes. Shaken, disgusted, and with my body revolting on me, I called the manager to verify that indeed pepperoni was inside the calzone with the eggplant. (And by the way- WHO PUTS PEPPERONI IN AN EGGPLANT CALZONE ANWAYS???) and sure enough, after arguing with me telling me that they don't make a regular eggplant calzone and that you need to request it without pepperoni, she said she would call me back. That was 7 days ago exactly. I'm still disgusted, but now I am angry and disgusted. If I could tell the whole world what this place did to me, I would.

A great old fashion Italian Bakery with long time employees who know how to bake the traditional ways. Owner Alex is a great guy who really cares about his product. Great breads and spinach pies. Dr J

I have been going here for years and the thing I notice is consistency. I am not a cookie/pastry fan but they sure do look good. I go there for their spinach pies, pizza strips, and Italian bread. My favorite is the spinach ring. If you like spinach pies, try the spinach ring. It's big and oh so good!

Let me preface with the fact that when you enter a bakery or deli outside the state of New York, one should lower your expectations drastically... That said, this bakery sucks. It is barely a Bakery when the shelves are not filled with pastries. I walked in looking for some crumb buns, or crumb cakes, and they did not make them... Really? I asked about fresh breads and they had a very limited selection. The fact that some counters were totally empty was sad. I asked about linzer tarts, I don't think they knew what one was. I recommend the owner of this bakery go to a NY Bakery, take some notes and return to RI with the best of the best. They could stand out if they had more to offer, but when I can get the same items at stop n shop, that's silly. I want to go to a good bakery so that I can get what I can't get or don't want to get at stop n shop! I'm tired of being disappointed at all of these places around here! I'm hoping this place can do better. I will stop in again to see.

The best pizza strips in RI as far as I'm concerned. And, many great italian pastries. The calzones are great, and zeppoles can't be beat. They definitely favor cash patrons over those paying with credit, which is a little annoying, but other than that, nothing but good things to say!

There are some many better bakeries in this small state. Why do people settle for less? The baked goods are of the same quality as if I went to Stop & Shop or BJ's.
