If you are trying to get an actual drink avoid the male bartender with the scruffy beard. You will get club soda with a splash of vodka. He basically barely tipped the bottle and filled it up with sofa and ice. When we complained about the drink instead of giving a little more vodka he dumped out the first drinks and proceeded to pour an even worse drink. All with a terrible attitude. We ended up finishing our golden tee and took our $100 bar tab to the Pub down the street where we got great drinks and service and the good bartender at that establishment got a 25% tip

Absolutely horrible! Plan to pay $5.50 for an angry orchard. Horrible food, horrible seating, okay location. Go next door to Teresa's or Great American Pub

Smells like a frat house, bartenders suck, food sucks, bathroom sucks, tv's suck, service sucks, music sucks. Did I mention it sucks? Negative stars.

This is the best effort I've ever seen by a corporate chain to disguise the fact that they're a corporate chain. Plenty of local flavor, very decent prices, friendly service, decent (not exceptional) food, nice atmosphere, and great specials. Well executed, gentlemen. Now how about a Valley Forge Trojans sandwich?

I don't know how I feel about this place. In my younger days when I went to Nova, I used to love the heck out of the one in Ardmore that closed down, It had a more local feel. You could go in there place some buck hunter or bowling, eat some free popcorn from the machine, and even one time they had fresh baked cookies just laying around, plus they were a live music venue, only negative was the beer selecion. Basically it was like my favorite bar on the main line, almost shed a tear when it closed. So naturally I had to go check out how the one in wayne was to make comparisons and see if they had remodeled the boathouse and what not. I don't know man, this place is okay I guess nothing like the ardmore one though, games are gone, popcorn machine is gone, homey feel is gone. This place is more corporate minded, more tv's, better beer selection, more brightly like, more seats, its the same exact layout as the boathouse by the way. It's just not as authentic as the older place, it's nicer but not necessarily better. It is on wayne ave. though so it's more easier to bar hop to other places like christopher's and teresa's next door if your not feeling it. Bartender ladies were very nice and attentive, bathrooms small for the amount of people that can fit in there, and a fixture that was on the roof fell, luckily no one was underneath it when it happened, you know those main liners, they will sue for any reason under the sun.

Hands down the best American restaurant on the main line. Their catering options are absolutely delicious. Extremely affordable. Most importantly, a friendly and hard working staff to ensure a great time. Cannot wait to enjoy it again. - Villanova Lacrosse

My husband and I tried to go today..July 4th to the Wayne location before going to a movie. There was NO SIGN on the door and they were CLOSED! So I called one of the other locations and they said they would be opening at 3..it was 2:50 at the time so we decided to wait..well at 3:10 it still wasn't open! Shame on them..how hard is it to put up a sign or put it on their answering machine. All other businesses that decided not to open today put a sign on the door. Then to be told it would be opening and waiting and they didn't.. I won't be back.

This place is brutal! Dead vibe, the staff breaks they're neck's for a weak tip, the bartenders are on there phone till you say something and act as if the customer is being a nuisance... But wait! It gets even better! The wait staff is even worse. I made the mistake of going in there for there microwave Hormel blah whatchaMcCarcus! After an hour I had to go into the kitchen to find my most useless waitress ever to wrap this awful experience up! I've been to other Cuddy's and they're fine! This place is possum vomit, brake dust, and straight gutter juice! The manager should be ashamed! I'm being kind too and didn't bring the edge with describing this foul dump!

Went here one week day after work with a few friends to have a beer and light dinner... and had a great experience! The bar was crowded, but the dining room was comfortably quiet. The waiter and bar tender were accommodating, and the food was, really, not bad. Had several of the appetizers and fish and chips. The wings were great -- not over cooked as they often are... almost everywhere. It was a comfortable pub atmosphere with not bad food at reasonable prices... exactly what we were looking for when we got off work! We're going back!

Living just down the road, I've been to McGillicuddy's a few times since it's opened- some of those visits have been ok, and others have been not-so-ok. My favorite times at McGillicuddy's have been on cold, winter late afternoons (on the weekend) where I'll grab a few beers and the sesame wing "bites" with rasta sauce at the bar. Some of my least favorite times have been Friday and Saturday nights when they're overrun with Eastern and Cabrini kids and blasting horrible music from a DJ booth. I do not recommend McGillicuddy's for a full blown meal. As far as food goes I would not venture much past the wings and some of the appetizers. Sandwiches are hit or miss; the rest of the menu I would say is mostly a miss. The sesame chicken bites (basically boneless wings) are very good. I tried the cheesesteak sliders recently where were also better-than-ok (although not exactly what I was expecting). I did try their Sunday brunch once about a year ago. It featured some standard breakfast foods but was surprisingly good. For a cheap brunch in the area, it's not a bad choice. Draught list is ok. They have a decent (maybe 7 or so) selection of local craft beers that seem to rotate fairly frequently, plus some additional local beers in cans and bottles (and of course the standard yeungling/bud-miller-coors light/etc. offerings). Like the menu, service is inconsistent. At the bar it is usually ok (bar tenders are typically friendly but during slower periods seem to be responsible not only for the bar but any tables scattered across the restaurant, which can spread them pretty thin). The few times I've made the mistake of sitting down for dinner at a table here, service has been horrendous. There is an ever-present bleach/cleaning solution smell familiar to dive bars that is not very appetizing. Does McGillicuddy's intend to be a dive bar? I don't know. But it does serve a slightly-divey niche on N Wayne Ave that the others do not. If you're looking for top notch beer then head over to Theresa's Next Door. But if you just want to grab a bud light and catch a basketball or football game (without the screaming kids common during the afternoon and early evening at Christopher's) McGillicuddy's might be an ok choice. I'm between a two- and three-star rating, but a few really bad visits have overshadowed the other mediocre ones pulling McGillicuddy's down to a 2 in my book. I still stop in from time to time but I can't say I'd exactly be very sad (or surprised) to see this location gone in the future.

I was here with my wife several months ago and the food was okay but the service was less than perfect. A lot less. But I let it go because everyone has an off day. Today however I tried to visit again because we were going to a movie around the corner and they were closed during normal business hours. Now I understand that it is a holiday and if they choose to close that is fine. But please at least put a sign on the door or perhaps a message on the answering machine. We even called another location and they contacted the manager who said they would open at 3 but as of 3:10 they were still closed. We will NEVER return. There are a lot of places that would be happy to take our money. Very bad customer service.

Giving this spot two stars for the happy hour and game specials but I cant rationalize more after being at this bar on Saturday evening (4/20/2013). My fiance and I sat at the bar before the crowd rolled in. Got our first drinks in a timely manner but then refills took far too long to get. There were two bartenders at that point and maybe 15 people to serve so not sure why they were so lax about service, unless they just were inattentive to empty glasses/bottles. Later in the evening came one of the worst displays of service I've seen in a place. A couple was overcharged on their bill (I know because we had some of the same things and they were charged more for them). It was pointed out to the bartender who argued then I assume fixed it. The couple then mentioned to each other in a personal conversation that service there was really bad that night. One of the bartenders then interjected in that conversation to tell them about how crowded the place was and how 4 bartenders cant manage a bar effectively. Come on - I've seen 1 bartender manage a full bar effectively, you just have to be a good bartender and with four people you can absolutely manage a crowd. Sadly it did not stop there. The patron was justifiably annoyed with being overcharged and the unwarranted intrusion to his personal conversation and got upset. The bartender then continued acting unprofessional by using vulgarity with the patron loud enough for us and others to hear. Just awful, the place needs to train these bartenders and give the tall bald one a serious training session so he realizes that patrons keep the bar in business and pay his bills. Conclusion: That probably cost Cuddy's those peoples future business. My fiancé and I will not be back after seeing that and will instead be going to Christopher's down the block which has always had fantastic service - even if it is crowded. People in the bar are paying customers and these paying customers did nothing to warrant that treatment. I am very understanding of people having bad days, being frustrated with an overcrowded and noisy/rowdy bar but this situation was escalated by the staff, not handled in a professional way.

One word perfectly describes this place: mediocre. Their fries look and taste like Ore Ida crinkle cut fries. The same ones you find at the grocery store. I had the Matty wings which are supposed to be like a honey BBQ. They totally skimped on the sauce. Then their "bleu cheese" dressing was like Ranch dressing with chunks of bleu cheese in it. Bar food fail. If you're looking to get drunk, they have great happy hour prices. If you're looking for a good meal, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Came down here after the a/c was out at Great American. With the thermometer at 100 degrees, this wasn't going to cut. Ones man's loss is another's gain. Found the interior here to be Main Line handsome in a pubby way. Lots of TV's, good music, hard working staff, nice crowd, and some big floor to ceiling French doors to watch the crowd outside. Apparently, this place is the former Boathouse (this I did not know) - so it's got history with many people. Beacuase the a/c was out at Gt. American, alot of folks who paraded down here looked around in amazement and positively commented over renovations that the new owners must have recently completed. Food was just OK, but acceptable bar food. I'd definitely come back to hang out and watch games. Seems like a very good fall football bar.

I gave this place a second chance recently, but I won't be going again. I received some of the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant or bar here. The bartenders are slow, inefficient, and unfriendly. The wait staff is similar, and it really seems like nobody ever trained them in basic etiquette and customer service. I give a more detailed description of my visits below, but I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. On my first visit, the bartender had no idea there was a $2 off craft drafts special going on. I had to show him the website on my phone, and even after that he got very defensive about not knowing the specials. On top of this, he didn't know which beers were craft and part of the discount. Eventually I ordered a Bell's Two-Hearted IPA, and could tell it was not right after a couple sips. I mentioned that it didn't taste right to the bartender and he argued with me, saying he had just tapped the keg. Another patron came in after me and said the exact same thing too. He had either tapped a different keg or confused the hoses. Regardless, he didn't offer me something different or take the beer off my tab--very poor service. Then, when I wanted to order a second beer, he was nowhere to be found. He disappeared for some 10 minutes and an off-duty employee drinking at the bar had to pour my beer. Finally, when we wanted to leave, he gave my date and me separate checks, despite the fact that we were clearly there together. I'm not sure if this employee is new or what, but he made the simple experience of going to the bar for a couple drinks very unpleasant. After complaining to the owner, I received a gift card in the mail and decided to give it a second chance. Although the owner assured me the old bartender would be fired, there he was at the bar again with the same scowl on his face. This time, I came for dinner and drinks, but nobody offered to seat my date and me when we arrived. After waiting 5 minutes or so, we grabbed a booth and had to flag down a waiter for menus. Incredibly, the waiter literally forgot to put in my date's order. It came well after I had finished eating. Well, we ordered a couple more drinks while we waited for her food. When I asked for another beer, the waiter literally said to me, "I don't know what you're drinking, dude." Really? You couldn't remember what kind of beer I ordered? And you couldn't ask a bit more politely, "dude"? This place needs a complete employee overhaul, and in case you were wondering, the food was nothing special. I won't be back again!

Mediocre. Probably wouldn't have gone in if I had seen the Yelp average rating in advance, but it wasn't bad. It just wasn't really good either. No wait, though, on a Friday night when the other 4 restaurants we stopped at had 30 - 40 minute waits, so woohoo for JD McGillicuddy's!

I like their sandwiches a lot. Ambiance is okay if you don't mind it looking like a TV store. However, I don't like that they mislead you about the specials and also fail to ring up the tab at the correct price. Recently went on a Tue for dinner. Hardly anyone there. They had a sign out front for "Tuesday Specials" (2 entrees $20, etc). However, when I inquired to the waitress she claimed there were no dinner specials only lunch specials. Really? Not sure if she just made up that answer because she didn't know but it seemed that way. They had a huge sign advertising $2 off craft brews on Tue. I heard the table next to us speak to the waitress, Colleen, because she didn't give them the $2 off their craft beers. She fixed it for them and then the same waitress gives us our bill a few minutes later without taking the $2 off our craft beers! Really? Duh. That sucks. The beer seemed overpriced and the IPAs were served in a small glass. That's just really, really bad service and I don't know if I'll ever go back.

I went here on 7/7/12 to check it out since they changed it from the boat house to JD. However, they had NO AC. It was very hot inside and they had giant fans blowing hot air. I left after taking a few steps in. They should have just closed the place that day. I mean no one was in there and people who went in to check it out did the same thing as I did, went in and left immediately.

I shed a tear thinking about the ole BH. Gave it couple chances but blah. Bartenders try but food looks half ass & a dj in the dining room, really?! Off to Conshy BH!

I miss the Boathouse. Food and service were much better. Two big thumbs down for the wings.

Generally I come here in Wednesday night. Came this sat for the first time in awhile and was not happy. Ordered food and no silverware or napkins came out with it while sitting at bar. Asked for it and they brought one pack out even though two of us. Drink service was exceptionally slow, EVEN for a crowded bar. Out of highball glasses all night and were low on pints so the bar back tried to take our groups half empty drinks multiple times. On my check they charged for extra drinks. They did go above and beyond after they saw I was upset at this and took 5 drinks off event high I just asked for two off. This makes me think they knew they were wrong in first place. Bartender with shaved head heard me say to my girlfriend service sucks tonight and decided to interject in our conversation (yes instead of tending bar he listened over top of band playing and heard us talking to ourselves). Long story short it was a very abrasive conversation full of excuses and horrible customer service (along with cursing). He should not be public facing. Obviously cannot deal with a slightly above average size crowd on a sat night. Way too defensive and not friendly. Would not recommend to go back on sat night. I miss John and Brian from the Boathouse days and Candy from early Cuddy's days.

Their pizza, a thick crust is very good. It also reheats well. The rest of their menu items are very good too.

First visit since it switched from the Boathouse to JD's. Not much has changed other than the name. Decor and layout are the same as the Boathouse, still entirely too many TVs. There are more wings and less seafood on the menu. Good burgers, pretty good beer selection including a number of 'craft' beers on tap. My friend had the prime rib and thought it was quite good for $15. Kid's menu is predictable -- which is what you want with a kid's menu! Overall another mid-range pub for N.Wayne Ave. Ho Hum.

I've come to this place 3 times. First time it was ok. I really liked one of the sauce for the wings. The second time was ok. But the third time was terrible. Customer service was horrible. The waitress showed me an attitude and I can feel that she was talking behind my back. I asked a few questions about the drink (I'm 21 and rarely go to bar) and she replied with the coldness on her face. Despite the fact that their pizza and wings taste good, I'm not going there again. Ever.
