WOW. Anthony's is the real deal. First off, please ignore any review that gives this place less than four stars. I was torn between the eggplant pizza and the cauliflower pizza, but after the waiter disclosed that those two pizzas are probably the best/most popular, I just ordered both! Oh, and I got a plain for good measure. :) Each pizza was unbelievable... I still cannot determine which one was my favorite. The eggplant on the eggplant pizza was not fried, and the plentiful amount of sauce was flavorful and fresh. The cauliflower pizza was so unique, and certainly did not skimp on cauliflower. The plain pizza was just outright amazing. None of the pizzas were limp or greasy. Perfection. The service could not have been better. Our waiter took the time to tell us his favorite pizzas and why he liked them, and even answered our questions concerning future visits to the restaurant (such as if they take reservations - they don't!) He was so friendly and accommodating, and made me want to return just for such a refreshing personality. The menu is limited, but that doesn't mean that there isn't something for everyone. Both standard pizzas and gourmet pizzas are offered. I would much rather dine at a restaurant that offers a more limited menu with quality ingredients and service.

Meatballs were really good - especially the gravy and ricotta cheese for dipping the focaccia. As always, the wings were spectacular and filling with the carmelized onions and more bread. Finally, we split a salad with tuna that was also right on. Normally, I think of Anthony's as noisy, but maybe that is just me preferring to stuff my face and watch the Phils, at the expense of my lucky dining mates. However, tonight I had dinner with a dear old friend and we were able talk enough to pretty much map out the next 20 years of our lives. So, let's say that the place isn't too noisy after all!

I went here for a business lunch this past week and had a great experience. We arrived at the heart of the lunch rush, and yet the service was very quick and friendly. I think we were all shocked at how fast the food came out, but they were firing on all cylinders! I didn't have pizza (surprise! considering where we were), but I had just had pizza the night before so I needed to eat something different. The other two folks DID have the pizza and they were both very happy with it. I had a coal-fired chicken sandwich... which was just amazing. Everything from the caramelized onions to the arugula... was very tasty! I enjoyed a couple of cold draft beers while I was there too - why not? Next time I'll get the pizza, nice to know they can do something else very well too. I included a picture of my sandwich to get your appetite going.

Thin crust pizza perfected. Roasted cauliflower was an amazing experience. Lunch portions only $9.99! Friend got the eggplant parm one and it was also delicious. Small salads were huge for the price and totally fresh and tasty!!

Wow! Tried it for the first time and they treated us like royalty! Husband had prosciutto pizza and it was crisp and delicious. l had sausage & broccoli rabe which was a bit adventurous for me...but yummy! Service was outstanding...Derek went the extra mile and gave us a free sample of wings to take home. Manager made a point to stop by our table as well. This might be our new favorite date night go-to spot.

A nice hangout spot in Wayne with a liquor license which is quite rare off of N Wayne Ave (thank you Radnor Township killjoys and busy-bodies). Come here for pizza- you'll find almost no alternatives on the menu. Pizza is fairly thin crust and pretty tasty- not greasy at all and toppings are fresh and flavorful. It's definitely above average pizza. Some people love the wings and other people don't-- they are definitely different and come down to personal preference. When Anthony's first opened the beer selection was massively disappointing. Since then they've expanded the draught list to a more-than-respectable selection. Staff are all friendly and service has always been prompt. There's a large TV at the bar as well as a number of others above the tables showing whatever sporting events are on for the night. A nice place to wind down and hangout (as long as you're in the mood for pizza and beer), especially on a Sunday night.

The service was fantastic, followed by a wonderfully prepared Italian salad, so much so we bought the dressing to take home. It was more than enough for two people to share. The pizza was crisp, delicious and served up in good order. I asked for a side of marinara and it complimented the wonderful pizza. Coal fired pizza offers up one of the best thin crust pizzas I've had in a very long time. The toppings were spot on and delicious!

Meatballs are very tasty and the service is fast and friendly, exceeds expectations. Nice bar and good draught selection. But cant figure out why they don't have dried oregano for your pizza. They have no dried herbs for seasoning. Don't get the oregano thing?

This was just the perfect place for my casual Saturday night! We didn't know of Anthony's before since we only moved to the US last year, but now that we do know about it, we'll be back more often. We started off with their chicken wings. These were probably the best wings I've ever had in my life! Nice and crispy, tasty and not dry at all. We followed up with a pizza - I don't remember which one, but I do remember I wanted all of them! ;-) The pizza was the best we've had in the area so far. The crust was perfect, crispy but not burned and not too thick either. They were generous with toppings. Our waiter was very friendly and even took time for small talk even though it was busy. Loved this place and their food!

Pizza is OK. Wings are interesting. Definitely hit or miss.

Probably the best pizza and wings on the Main Line. Just prefer less carcinogens in my food: almost everything is charred as their thing is "well done" food. But they cater to requests for less charred pizza crust. The wings are loaded with caramelized onions and rosemary...wonderful but again a little too much char.

As a big Anthony's fan it's easy to say that all the pizzas are delicious as are the wings. The beer selection is also very exquisite . Anthony's has some really delicious local craft brew offerings

The service here was pretty lame. I ordered take out for one person, which I said to the waitress when I came in. I ordered just a salad and a pizza. Somehow the waitress heard "Large Salad", which is for a family, then a small pizza. When the bill was $35 I asked for details on the receipt, only to see they charged me for the large salad. OK, mistakes happen. She called over the manager who was a gruff guy who didn't even look at me or talk to me, just handed me a new receipt to sign. When I asked if the first charge had been canceled, he was condecending and said, "Um, yes, isn't that what you wanted?" Just wanted to check since he hadn't even LOOKED at me! As for the food, nothing special but nothing terrible. Pizza was decent, but the crust was over cooked and flat. The salad was very bland, with watery dressing. Given the poor service and mediocre food, I won't be back.

This is located in Wayne it is very quaint. It was crowded when we got there and took 20 minutes for us to get in. Very nice not a lot of space it went straight back. There were maybe 6 or 7 TV's with sports and that was fun to watch. The menu consisted of mainly pizza and an odd choice of having plain meatballs... The pizza is amazing but the cheese took forever to chew it's like gum. I almost choked on my piece! Usually it is crowded so go on an odd day like a Sunday or a Monday

On Sunday, April 19 the town of Wayne Pa held its annual Wheels of Wayne Auto Show. I have been a judge in the show since its inception. Anthony's had a crew offering their meatballs, chicken wings and spicy ribs on hand. All the food was generously offered as FREE ! I stepped up to get some of the free fare. The line was kinda of hectic so I walked away. A short time later one of the staffers surprised me with a generous potion of their samplings. Kudos to Anthony's and their car show staff. I have been a patron of Anthony's since the day they opened. Their food is delicious. And now I found another reason to go. Great job. John Ricciutti Villanova Pa Jricciutti@comcast.net

Sat outside for lunch and had the lunch special pizza with onions and mushrooms. I asked for extra sauce after it arrived and was tested to a gravy boat with a sprig of basil on top Loved the pizza and the service. Someone else at the table had a chicken sandwich that was huge and she enjoyed. The next table had the wings which I will be back to try.

Meh... Overpriced pizza that is pretty good, but certainly not the best pizza I've ever had. Service was good but it was annoyingly loud in there - a deafening combo of people talking and music blaring. Probably a one and done kind of place for me.

This establishment is tops for the main line when it comes pizza, with also this being a "chain joint" these guys set that " proverbial bar " in great pizza. This ought to be fun doing this. I and my partner in crime Steven B. had met up here on Wednesday for some great food, refreshing beverages , with some great conversations to add. Does it get any better than that, I doubt it. I feel I will be jumping around a lot in this review because of a great experience I or we I should say received at Anthony's. Get your motion sickness pills ready just in case I do start jumping back and forth. OK where does one start with this review, so many to choose from. I can go with the wings with a bed of caramelized onions over top, with a focaccia bread holding everything in place. The flavor , that taste of garlic , not overpowering ,lightly dressed with oil , that full body flavor of rosemary and other herbs that just dazzle your taste buds with every perfect bite. Steven had mentioned to me earlier that he was not a wing fan, but wanted to try one, 5 wings later he is hooked. (Score 1 for the good guy) The pizza, that beautiful thin crust pizza, that inviting taste , a slight char to the crust , the flavors upon flavors making your taste bud work some overtime. This was another work of art the way everything fell into place with every bite.Oh the choices for pizza alone will make you salivate , makes you want to order the whole section alone . I feel I will frequent this place more than once so I can cross off Broccoli Rabe and Sausage from the list of masterpieces. The sausage had a great taste to it, evenly distributed over and in between the broccoli rabe. Another plus is, if you enjoy broccoli rabe ( which I love by the way) these guys did it right. It is either hit or miss with this and these guys nailed it . What I mean if your a not familiar with this there are 2 ways you can cook/prepare broccoli rabe, and I have had it both ways growing up . Steamed , or pan fried with olive oil , garlic and hot peppers. One is more on the bitter side than the other. . I can also go with the decor featuring great sporting events, memorabilia framed on the walls, along with great actors /actresses / models and singers of different era's. I have never written a review about a bathroom, nor have I ever taken a picture of a restaurants bathroom. Now I don't know what is hanging up in the ladies room, maybe James Dean, Hugh Hefner or Elvis or even a Kennedy I heard he loved women. The gentleman's room I hadn't noticed until I looked up and some chicky in the picture was checking out the goods, I had a look as a What the *bleep* looks, kinda felt violated as I was laughing my ass off. I had told Steve to go to the bathroom to check it out, women just starring at you as you do what ever you need to do . (no he didn't go) Great bathroom experience, yes I know I just said it. The bar, that beautifully well equipped bar with taps of delicious crafted beers , for the beer enthusiasts in you. The liquor selections, with bottles of wine that separated the shelves that kept you intrigued .The flat screens placed perfectly with great view points from where ever you sit. The bartenders here are friendly , they had no issues of giving out a freebie here or there when asked upon. (Jackie = A+ ) Also come to find out during the week they do specials, Mondays and Tuesdays is half price drafts and appetizers, Wednesdays is a M&M day. No not chocolates (peanut or pretzel m&m fan here) but a Martini and Meatball day. All the meatballs you can eat (free ) with a side spoon of some delicious ricotta to go with this delicious meatball. $5.00 martini any preference made with Double Cross Vodka. This is a smooth tasting vodka that I got a shot to try for free by the way. What can I say I am smooth like that, I can make creamy peanut butter look chunky. This is a great establishment, great service, great food, great company, all around a great time. These guys are up there when it comes to pizza, this is my new Celebre's for the main line. Clean, fun, inexpensive types of places you want to be at.

I've lived in Wayne on and off for the past 16 years and - chain or not - I think this is easily the best pizza Wayne has ever had. The flavor from the coal-fired oven is phenomenal. I'm usually a big crust person and I actually don't love Anthony's because I think it could be a little thinner. But excellent sauce and high-quality cheese (plus I really can't overstate the difference the coal oven makes!) make this pizza. You know it's a good pizza with great sauce when *I* am happy with a large, plain pie. I am usually a white pizza enthusiast because I think that pizza sauce is so hit or miss: when it's good it's good but when it's bad it's bad. This sauce is *very* good - but I do also love that they offer broccoli raab as a pizza topping - broccoli raab on a white pizza is my absolute favorite - YUM! I should mention that Anthony's is pretty pricey (about $18 for a large plain pie after tax). We've also never eaten here and I'm not sure that I would being that it's in a totally 'blah' shopping center and whenever I pick-up our takeout order, I always feel like I'm getting a lot of attitude from the staff (that's the Main Line for ya...) - plus, it's SUPER noisy. But if you're in the Wayne area and looking for a carry out pie, I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

A small pizza spot located in a tiny strip mall in Wayne. As out of towners, we found this place on Yelp and decided to stop in after visiting our son at Villanova. It was still a warm day so we sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a crispy, cheesy pizza and some wine. Not the best pizza of my life, but definitely worth having again the next time we are in the area.

Fantastic experience here the other week. Definitely get the wings--what a unique appetizer! The salads were huge and the pizza was flavorful and crunchy. Only complaint is the prices and the sizes of the pizza. We paid 18 for a "large" but got something that looked like a medium at best. Also, we substituted fresh tomatoes on the pie for tomato sauce and were charged 3 bucks extra, which I think was a little outrageous. Service was fantastic and food arrived in mere minutes. Despite my complaints, I can't give this place anything less than a four-star.

I LOVE their pizza, meatballs, and ribs. Nice draft and bottled beer selection. But I really really wish they would rethink the live music. The last two times I have been here, there has been a musician. Both times the volume was way too loud. Tonight, the musician wandered through the restaurant stopping at tables and at patrons of the bar to sing. Does anyone really actually like this? I found it so annoying and I will definitely not be back on nights that they have live music. This totally just does not seem like the right venue for that.

After two failed attempts to eat dinner at more upscale establishments in a nearby town, my friend, his girlfriend, and I headed into Wayne to enjoy some wings, pizza, and brews. Anthony's is located in a strip mall along Lancaster Ave. There's plenty of parking available for the restaurant and other adjoining shops. We go in for dinner around 8:00 and are told there's only about a 15-minute wait (thank goodness!) but since there are just three of us, we opt to sit at the bar. The bartender takes our order right away and tells us about what is on draft. As of this posting, there were ~10 drafts to pick from. With it being fall, I enjoyed a tasty pumpkin wheat from Time Traveller Brewing. I could definitely pick up all the pumpkin spices in the drink. We ordered a small (10-piece) order of the coal-oven roasted chicken wings. The wings were meaty and a mix of drums and whatever you call the non-drums. :) They came out with a nice-sized heap of caramelized onions and a couple smallish pieces of focaccia bread (it would be plenty for two). The wings were delicious and filling. We also ordered two small pizzas for the three of us and had plenty of leftovers. My friend's girlfriend suggested the Philly cheesesteak and added on roasted red peppers--do that. I selected the meatball and ricotta. Both pizzas were nicely crisped from the coal oven and had sufficient toppings. I preferred the meatball, but I thought the Philly cheesesteak tasted better the next day. This would be a nice location for a date or meeting with a group of friends. The menu is not as large as you might find at other pizza places, but the quality is good and the restaurant has a somewhat upscale (yet relaxed) atmosphere. I would eat here again and try a few of their other pizza selections.

Brief visit for pizza with friends. Pizza is okay, mixed drinks are pathetic. I don't see the appeal of this place so will only visit once in a while. There are too many better places that are better.

My family and I have been huge fans of Anthony's. My daughters and I go to the one in Wayne, PA on a regular basis and my parents when in FL go to the ones in Boca and DelRay. A couple weeks ago, my 1 daughter and I along w/ my parents had dinner at the restaurant in Wayne, PA. As my daughter and I waited for my parents to arrive, our waitress bought us a couple drinks. My parents arrived shortly after she bought us our drinks. We waited a while for our waitress to return, 5, 10 minutes. I did not see her on the floor anywhere. I finally said something to another server. Quietly and calmly I said to the server, "can you send our server over, please". We were sitting right near the hostess station and I happen to look up towards the hostess station and I saw the server I just spoke to 'mocking' me and making fun of me. I was livid. I sat there for a second and then said to myself I am going to say something to this kid. There was no reason for him to do what he did. I saw him walk towards the kitchen and I walked towards the kitchen because I wanted to understand why he did that. I was in no way rude or demanding. As I stood at the entrance near the kitchen, the manager asked if he could help me. At this point I was really upset. I told him what had happened, he basically dismissed it and said he would talk to the server after the shift. I told him that it seems everytime I come in here I have a problem w/ the server or the hostess or the manager. The week prior, my daughter went to put our name in to the manager who was at the hostess stand and he said just a minute. She thought he wasnt willing to take her name. We stood there for a while thinking he was in the middle of something and he would call her back over (so much for customer service). I finally went over to him and said something to him; with attitude, he said I took her description down. Really? Why wouldnt he take her name, she is 16. Prior to that, during another visit we waited for over a half hour one night for a table, while parties with the same number of people of us who came in after us were seated before us. He apologized but wasnt really that concerned about it. Keep in mind we come here at least once every two weeks. Back to my story...so I went back to my table and eventually the manager came over and said he was sorry, he spoke to the server and the server DID NOT do that. Now, my daughter and my mother both saw him do it, they were facing the hostess station. And, if I wanted, the server would come over and apologize, apologize for what, you just told me he didnt do it. I said don't bother and for him to keep the server away from my table. He said I cant have you threatening my servers, it wasnt a threat, he ruined my dinner already and I didnt want to see him again. The manager got 'tough' with me, like I was going to be scared of him. If I was alone w/ my daughter and not with my parents, I would have got up at the point and left. The manager left and nothing else was said. Our food came, service and the food was fine. It was not a very good dining experience though, we were all upset, especially my mother and daughter (12). We paid the bill and walked out the door, the manager was out on the front patio talking to a customer and apologized again to us. We ignored him and just walked by him. We were all still upset of the way this was handled. He may have mentioned something about taking to the server at the end of his shift again. I am not looking for anything from the management of Anthony's, I just wanted to bring this poor treatment of a loyal customer to your attention. And to be honest with you, I will never ever go back to that location again, which is very unfortunate because we all really like this place. The manager was and has been in the past extremely unprofessional, like he's a wise guy and we should be scared of him, that doesnt fly with me. I hope that in the near future another Anthony's opens in this immediate area so that my family and I can go back to and enjoy our favorite pizza.

We were very pleasantly surprised by our experience at Anthony's. The wings were the best I've ever had and our pizzas and the service were perfect. The atmosphere in the restaurant was positive and upbeat. We are looking forward to going back.

We have tried at least 15 pizza places since moving to the area and Anthony's is by far the best. The atmosphere is casual and lively with a great beer selection on the chalkboard. The pizza is "well done" with no soggy center.

My brother has been trying to get me to go here for about a year now, and this weekend we finally made it in! We went around 3:45 on a Sunday, which was good because hardly anyone was in there. After hearing so much about the wings, before I had even looked at the menu my mind was set that an order would be perused, We went with an order of 20. Now we just had to agree on a pizza between the 3 of us. Well the waiter helped us on that by telling us you can order a half of any kind of the pizza they offer even a red and a white. We went with half plain, and half meatball and ricotta. The wings were delicious, they were covered with caramelized onions and the wings itself were on top of some focaccia bread. I believe they cooked the wings in Each bite i placed some onions on my wings for that extra flavor. I have never tasted wings so good! Even the bread that soaked up all the juices were delicious. I think we ate about 5 each because we didn't want to ruin our appetite for the pizza. The meatball half was covered with mini meatballs, I mean each slice could of had 15-20 mini meatballs on it, it was awesome with every bite you got some meatball. The plain was very good as well. Their pizza is thin and crispy. As the signs all over say mind you the Pizza will be cooked well done, so expect the crust to be black and crispy. Anthony's Coal Fired you have made a new fan out of me, the wife and I will be back! The only downfall was their craft beer selection. They had 8 beers on tap but were out of 4 of them, especially 2 that we wanted to try, maybe the Manager can have some kegs as backup.

We have gone often. This place used to have the best pizza and great broiled chicken wings. Both have become hit or miss. The pizza is sometimes soggy rather than crisp and blackened. The chicken now can be soft and flavorless. The onions may taste stale. They are very busy with half hour waits, sometimes out in freezing cold. The staff while pleasant is no longer cheerful. Perhaps they can't keep up with success. Go for lunch midweek The bar is still excellent and crowded.

Had my first lunch at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza recently. Lunch started off with a house salad. Absolutely delicious, dressed just perfectly (lightly) and all fresh ingredients to be had. Then, a sausage and broccoli rabe pizza. Man, I was startled at how good it was. Perfectly charred and thin crust, zesty fresh tomato sauce, and a mouth watering balance of toppings and sparse amount of cheese. I'll need to have a two more good pizzas here to bump up to a 5 star, but so far, so good. Hard to believe a chain pizza place can delivery top notch results, but they do.

slightly better than other semi casual pizza chains like Bertuccis. Like the slightly thicker crust & higher quality toppings. Wish they offer couple of pasta dishes & no Tiramisu?!

To some people M&M means those delightful little candies there are so addictive for many folks. No, I didn't say S&M. That's an entirely different subject! However, for fellow Yelper Nando F. and me it means Martini & Meatball night at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza! So if you are looking for info about chocolate candy, or S&M you can skip this review. Otherwise read on. So the two of us stopped in this Wednesday night around five and the place was just getting going. Nando arrived first and I found him sitting at the bar flirting with the pretty bartender. So here's the deal with M&M night. Any kind of martini you want is $5. It's sponsored by Double Cross Vodka so that will be in your drink. Other than that there are no restrictions. And the glorious meatballs are free. They are a slightly larger than a golf ball and served with a little red sauce and a dab of ricotta cheese on the side. They are delicious and you can have has many as you want. As we munched on meatballs we perused the menu. Numerous fellow Yelpers had raved about both the wings and the pizza so we decided to order both and share. I'm usually not a wing guy but these bad boys changed my mind. A small order of 10 pieces goes for $9.75. These delicious morsels are lightly tossed in olive oil, garlic, rosemary, and maybe another herb or two. Then they are stacked on top of slices of delicious focaccia and buried under a pile of perfectly cooked caramelized onions. I know, I know this sounds incredibly good and it is. For a guy that usually doesn't like wings these were fantastic. Next out was the Broccoli Rabe & Sausage Pizza. We ordered the large 16 inch pie for $19.95. These are thin crust pizzas baked in an 800 degree oven. This one was cooked perfectly and we enjoyed every bite. The toppings are well distributed over the pie and the amount of toppings is great. It's not often you get a truly fine meal at a chain restaurant but for me, and I believe Nando agrees, we had a four star experience.

The best pizza place between Wilmington and Philadelphia. We love its real margarita pizza and its house salad as well as its choice of draft beer. 3/1/15 A few years of living in Des Moines with its lack of fresh mozzarella pizzas make us long for Anthony's great fare. Upped my rating to 4 stars

Have to say was a little disappointed I was really expecting thin pizza felt like it was a little doughy and like someone else said very small for a large pizza more like a medium also lacking sauce could definitely use more sauce hopefully the owner reads this and make some change it could b really good just a little thiner and more sauce PLEASE

Best pizza! This place is out of this world. The food is really good. The coal fired wings are just perfect, crispy and smothered in roasted garlic and onions. And the pizza...they sell specialty pizzas but I keep going back for pepperoni. You seriously must try this place. You won't be disappointed.

I have to say, I had major reservations when my husband pulled up to Anthony's, which is a chain restaurant, at a strip mall! In my mind, this was all the trappings of a very disappointing experience. I will admit that I was quickly proven wrong. It was Saturday night and we had been running errands all day. The place was packed (and not just with college students!) so I knew this place had to be somewhat decent. The interior houses a huge dark wooden cabinets behind a long granite bar, which seemed a bit out of place, amongst the random pictures of Dan Marino and The Rock,(I'm sure there is some back story that I'm missing) which are arranged precariously around the multiple flat screen tvs created an odd atmosphere. A bit of an identity crisis in my opinion, but hey I'm here for good food so never mind that my brain couldn't make the connection. We had to wait 20 minutes, once seated, the sample? I'm in! They were lightly tossed in olive oil, a little garlic, and rosemary, caramelized onions and focaccia bread, with a very smoky flavor. They were the best wings I've ever had! The menu isn't extensive as the average pizza joint and the waitress endorsed the thin crust pizza, cooked in their 800 degree stone oven, the same way they make it in Italy! We opted for the traditional pizza with half pepperoni and half arugula. I have to say, the pizza was divine!! I've had to endure lots of pizza in my life, but this was something special, almost the same kind of slice we had when we were trekking through the streets of Roma, which just a tad bit more flavor. I've heard "they taste like Italian Pizzas' more than I care to mention, but there was some truth to this statement here. Don't be fooled, by the location and the décor of this place, the food and service are wonderful. The crowds of patrons are a testament to that! I will definitely be coming back here again, if I venture into the burbs.

Anthony's does a great job in combining the 'bar' atmosphere while still staying family friendly. The dining area is large enough in which you can maneuver along without feeling like your backside is touching someone else's table. They also have a long bar where you can sit and eat - hence the 'bar' atmosphere. They also have 2 big TVS for sports watching! A giant plus, esp when you want to go somewhere with kids to watch a game. Ok for the food. THe pizza was amazing. Served extremely fast, but did not short change the taste one bit! We ordered a large and had enough to take home for the next day. Next - the WINGS are to die for! It's not buffalo wings, it's finger licking meaty almost oven roasted wings with grilled onions on top! My husband who hates onions - ended up eating his wings with all the onions! We ordered the small which were around 10 wings, and we could not finish them. They too were served super fast. The drink prices were also amazing. One seemingly giant vodka/soda - less than $6!!! Which is a nice price to see esp considering the location. They have a fair selection of wine as well. My only complaint was that they only had the NY cheesecake for dessert the night we were there so we will just have to return to try something else. There were tons of families, high chairs - great place to get good food, good service, hang with the family and possibly even enjoy a sports game!

Got take out from here yesterday and I guess that I didn't get the pizza that everybody is raving about on here. The crust was burnt black - should be called Anthony's Coal Burnt Pizza and that'd be more accurate. It's a shame too because the cheese/ingredients were pretty tasty but after a few bites all I could taste was burnt crust. First time in my life where I threw pizza away. Maybe I got a bad batch? I want to like this place though. The interior here is slick and modern and the workers seem friendly. There is a nice bar with a pretty big TV having football on. I would like to come back and maybe try the wings and have some beers during a game. I'll try to inspect other people's pizza without being too annoying. "Excuse me sir, but is your crust burnt to a crisp or is it tasty?" I refuse to believe that this many positive reviews are for the same pizza that I tried yesterday unless burnt food is "in" now. Maybe I need to get with the times?

Been here twice, and did pizzas and salads both times, so can't comment on the whole menu, but the pizzas and salads are good. I really like that they'll mix toppings on the pizzas. I'm also happy that they offer pizzas with both red and white sauces. Quite a good local spot on the Main Line.

Hot damn, the pizza at this place is off the chain. Ambiance: 3.5 out of 5 Anthony's has a casual sports bar-like atmosphere with a seating area and of course a bar, and a couple of TVs. No matter what time of day you go, it seems a little dark in there. In addition, the seating could be a slightly more comfortable. On the positive side, the coal pizza oven is part of a open kitchen, which you can see from the dining area--pretty cool. The restrooms are set back from the rest of the restaurant and are very nice. Meatball and Ricotta Pizza: 4.5 out of 5 Eccellente! This pizza combines the best offerings: meatballs, fresh ricotta, and perfecly-cooked pizza crust; into one dish. You'll get a cheese pizza topped with freshly-made mini meatballs and creamy ricotta. The meatballs here are the softest, juiciest, moistest meatballs with delicious flavor. The meat is also ground more finely than standard meatballs. (Once you try them, every other restaurant meatball will seem tougher, overcooked, and less fresh in comparison.) The ricotta is fresh, soft, finely-processed, and mousse-like. Combine the delicious meatballs and ricotta on top of a delicious pizza, and you have one of the best pies on the Main Line. I should also note that adding caramelized onions and/or sauteed mushrooms to this pizza is/are great choices. The only reason for the 4.5 rating, versus 5, is because I like slightly sweeter sauce on my pizza, but this is a matter of personal preference. Meatballs: 5 out of 5 Refer to the previous description for all of the praises surrounding the meatballs at Anthony's. If you take nothing else from this review, know that the meatballs are not to be missed! Overall: 4 out of 5

I'm really glad that the Philly area is phinally getting what New York has had for a long time. And that is pizza places with table service and at least a couple additional menu items that aren't sandwiches. I really like the pizza at Anthony's but I also like the salad. It makes me feel like less of a fat ass when I eat salad with pizza. And it makes it feel like more of a family event when we're all sharing Pizza and salad. The pizza is well done and crispy at the crust. The sauce is sweet and the cheese is melty and flavorful. I asked for a half red with half white and then sausage on half the red part and half the white part. I recognize that it is an order he's probably never heard before or since but smoke began to pour out of the young waiter's ears. He looked like a deer in headlights. And if he was a deer, he'd be one of the dumber deer in his herd or flock or whatever you call a group of deer. He claimed he would ask the pizza cooks if they could do what I asked as if I was asking them to split the atom. I assured him that it was physically possible if he could just grasp the concept. He refused to do so. He walked to the back, counted as high as he could, and was back within seconds to report that the cooks could not hear him over the din of the kitchen and so I was out of luck. Weak. But that's what we get as a society for giving everyone a trophy and making those kick-ass gaming systems that separate our kids from reality. I provided a little reality at tip time. But not too much. I'm still half Italian so 18% is as low as I'll go. Back to the food. The salad was a predressed situation with nice big juicy tomatoes (eyes up here everyone), good olives, red onions, some peppers, and some other stuff that I can't remember but I remember liking at the time. I also had a glass of Chianti which was over priced at around $10 but the bottles were cheap (in the $30 range) so if I had another drinker with me rather than my 5 year old, the bottle would have been a nice fit. All in all, it was a good experience to back up two other solid visits. I'll be back soon. I also remember the blond hostess being hot. Just thought I'd throw that in there. The end.

AMAZING PIZZA!!!!!! I gorged myself on several slices of the Broccoli Rabe w/ Sausage, and the Eggplant pizzas, as did the rest of my family. I clearly couldn't help myself and neither could they. Washed them down with a Yards Pale Ale...listened to some good tunes, watched a little March Madness...checked out the all the stuff on the walls...service was quick and friendly. Overall, it was a great way to spend a Sunday dinner with the family.

Continues to be the BEST pizza and wing experience in and around the main line. After a long morning of house hunting, this was our choice for a quick bite to eat. It continues to make me happy and affirm my choices in life that I can quickly and easily select the best pizza in the main line and it is right here. Easily the best.

Probably the best tasting pizza I've had in the Philly suburbs. The crust is a perfect level of crispness and the toppings are all very high quality. The chicken wings are also worth trying. They are not spicy, its more like a juicy roasted chicken. The beer selection is solid, and the service was good.

I don't get the great reviews that this place gets. What it tells me is that the Main Line is in dire need of a real upscale non-bertuccis pizza place. First the good ... The place is clean and stylish but definitely screams chain. The wait staff is very nice and attentive. Now the not so good. The family style salad we had was certainly a decent quantity, but I expect a lot more for $9 than a bunch of chopped romaine, a few slices of tomato and egg and about 6 olives and ten chick-peas. Really? Add to that the fact that they only offer two salad dressings: red wine vinegarette and oil and vinegar. Skip the salad (there was only one other salad choice and that didn't have lettuce). The pizza we had (tomato and mozzarella with red sauce) was a total disappointment. Brick over doesn't mean scorched end crust (like they needed a fire extinguisher scorched). The tomatoes tasted as if they had been frozen and the mozzarella low grade. The pizza also lacked any seasoning (but so did the salad). We won't be back

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner tonight. I would like to give a better review because the pizza was awesome. However, service could have been better. Our waiter was nice but didnt really bother with us after taking our order. Our table was missing the toppings for pizza (red pepperbflakes, parmesan, etc), which I would have told him but he never came to check on us until we were already done eating, although he seemed to notice his other tables. On top that, we felt rushed while we finished our drinks (which I know happens if a place is real busy, but they weren't that busy). Honestly though, the food is excellent here. Maybe I'll just get it to go next time

Good enough for lunch if its convenient but I wont be going out of my way for this place. Pizza was good but not great. A little overdone and chewy on the pizza. Salad was tasty. Again good but not great

Hard to believe this is a chain. Stopped in during recent snowstorm and was surprised not only that they were open but fully staffed. Wings unique and perfectly baked... Never going buffalo again. Great accommodation on pizza toppings request that came out crisper and tangy delicious even better than imagined. Nice ambiance if not a bit sterile - no pretension about the place. Enjoy!!!

Anthony's is pretty great. It's not perfect, but it's definitely the best pizza in Wayne, and one of the best restaurants, period, in Wayne too. I have never, in my dozens of times I've been there, had any issues with the food or service. My favorite items are the white pizza and the cheese Stromboli. Other notable meals I've had are the meatballs and ricotta, the ceaser salad, and the eggplant, but I enjoy everything I've tried. The service is great too, with servers being friendly and helpful. The only reason I haven't awarded this restaurant five stars is because, although the restaurant is dependable and the food is great, it's not perfect, which a restaurant needs to be for 5 stars. There are very few restaurants that should get those 5 stars, and although this is good, especially for a chain, most would agree that you can find a better meal, or pizza, in Philadelphia. But as far as Wayne goes, it doesn't get better than this.

Honestly would probably give this place a 2.5 but since I love the decor I'll bump it up to 3. I like the old black and white photos on the walls. (And the pictures of Clooney, Pitt, and Depp in the bathroom!) They have signs up around the restaurant saying WARNING: PIZZA IS WELL DONE! In other words... your pizza will be burnt to a crisp. Not really my thing, yet surprisingly yummy. It's thin crust so burning it is probably a good thing. Nobody wants to eat a limp, flaccid piece of pizza. You heard me. They don't have fountain soda which is strange to me. They give you a bottle. I had a lunch pizza (the one with the sausage and peppers and ricotta cheese) It was described to me as "really spicy" but it really was not spicy at all. But that's not the waitresses fault that spicy foods don't really effect me. Apparently to other people it's really spicy. Still tasted pretty good though

Anthony's is a great, consistent addition to the local pizza scene. There are multiple locations around - I go to the Wyomissing, Exton and Wayne spots most frequently - and each experience I have had has been extremely positive. Getting right down to it, the pizza here is amazing. I have never ventured outside of a traditional, or a traditional with pepperoni, but every pie I have had has been outstanding. What else can I say? It is incredible. Not quite to the level of Osteria, but for a regular pie, right behind it. Anthony's other standout point are the wings - coal fired in the brick oven, they come out with onions and heavy notes of garlic and rosemary. Amazing. My only complaint or suggestion would be to offer wheat dough for the pizza. They are missing out on a large portion of people who give up Anthony's in favor of the wheat pies at Bertuccis right down the road.

Delicious pizza! I always order my pizza well done so I figured I'd like this place; I was wrong...I loved it! The pizza has the texture of a true, authentic pizza that I haven't seen duplicated outside of Italy too often. Service is pleasant, fast, and attentive.

The pizza here is good, but the chicken wings which are roasted in the coal fired oven are great. They are italian style and come with caramelized onions and several slices of focaccia bread. The small size is a nice size portion. I also really enjoyed the pork ribs with vinegar peppers. I never had ribs made this way and some may find them spicy but they had just the right amount of tang for me. I need to come back to taste some of the other selections and try some of their specialty pies.

This was great pizza. The sauce had a great tangy flavor. The pizza was done well & just the right amount. The dough was soft. One of the best pizzas ever. We had the traditional cheese, a mushroom/olive, and the eggplant special. The service was great.

I thought this placed would be a take out only place but they really do have seating on the inside and its really nice. We did take out for work here and they were able to give us all the utensil we needed, the pizza wash out, and def had the warm cold oven goodness that you wouldn't expect from a take out place. It is very classy on the inside and pretty good f you and the fam want to sit there and enjoy the food.

They say that sex and pizza are alike in that even when it's bad -- it's good. Yeah, this is totally incorrect. There's the floppy garbage you eat when you're drunk and just don't care what you eat as long as it's made of carbs and then, there's transcendental, fire-kissed pies with real ingredients that would make a Neapolitan weep with happiness. I think we all know which category Anthony's falls into. If you think Domino's makes a good pie -- just stop right now. Seriously, put down the artery-clogging stodge and try something better. Usually, I'm not a fan of thin-crust pies. Primarily because my experience with them has been less pizza and more pizza ingredients on matzoh but Anthony's has the consistency down to an art form - not too thick, not too thin and all delicious. Their plain pie is great -- an even balance of mozzarella and good sauce that actually tastes of tomatoes -- but their specialty pies are worth seeking out. Their fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil pie is a great take on the Caprese salad but the best thing on the menu has to be the Eggplant Marino pizza. And no, I'm not just saying that because I'm a Dolphins fan and would eat an old shoe if Dan Marino's name was on it. It's a really good pizza -- the best qualities of eggplant parmesan and pizza without the heaviness of the former dish. Sprinkle a little crushed red pepper on that thing and we're talking pizza perfection. And I should know. I've been fueled by pizza since childhood. Although I've never eaten them myself, I've heard nothing but raves about the chicken wings. These aren't your fifty cent wings laden with tangy Buffalo sauce. These are coal-roasted with herbs and served underneath a heap of butter-soft caramelized onions. The pies are definitely Main Line (a large specialty pie will run you approximately $20) but good food is worth good money and at Anthony's, you're definitely eating well.

Meh. I can't get the burnt crust taste out of my mouth. Seriously, this was some bland pizza. Perhaps I prefer wood fire oven pizza at places like John's Pizza in NYC to the coal taste at Anthony's. I like bubbling cheese, crispy crust and tasty toppings. The eggplant tasted like limp slices from leftover eggplant parmigiana and the crust was soggy cardboard in the middle and burnt at the edge. I didn't even polish off the last two pieces. Pizza well done? More like, "well, I'm done."

My husband and I are very picky pizza folk. We like Pepes and Sallys in New Haven, and Anthony's Coal Fired is the closest we've come to that! We love it and their house salad, great meal, good atmostphere, rarely have we had to wait for a table...

This place opened not too long ago in Wayne. The good: - Terrific service from our friendly waitress - Said waitress brought us some free wings samples, which are delicious and highly recommended. - The decor is impressive and the atmosphere is more of an upscale sports bar with flatscreen TVs on the walls. - Mozzarella and basil pizza is terrific. They even bring you some balsamic vinegar and olive oil to pour over it. The not so good: - While they have a full bar, I found their wine selection to be limited. Wine was served at room temp, slightly warmer than the correct serving temp. - While the edges were "well done", the rest of the dough was not as bubbly and crisp as I expected and have seen at other fine pizzerias. - Can get crowded and loud

I am a bit of a pizza snob and in my opinion generally liking a traditional slice from a pizzeria. Anthony's has changed my view on fancy pizza - there pizza is GREAT. Also, their meatballs are TREMENDOUS. You get a great value, very good food and very good service. Great place to take the family - kind of place you could visit once a week and not get tired of it. The other thing that is great about this place is the music and staff. Always a solid experience.

On a cold Saturday night, the stars shining through the chilly air, we were ordering a take-out pizza, something to warm a night in anticipation of a subsequent movie at home. We were warned of a 45 minute wait for pick-up, and the pizza was hot and timely turned over to us as soon as the identifying name was revealed on the 45th minute. The pizza, a large, with caramelized onions (perfectly done), mushrooms (seemed like canned) and calamata olives (as good as can be expected), on a thin crust (crust expected to be more crispier), however getting steamed in it's own heat in the box may have made it more soft, was above average. I will try to order and eat in house next time to give a fair evaluation. The staff was very courteous, the check-out process swift, the energy of the restaurant as we strolled in and out in a few minutes was effervescent. Definitely a do-over, a seat at the bar....ah yes, I can envision the experience.

Get here early, because it's one of the busiest restaurants in the area. It can be quite noisy as a result, but the atmosphere is still fun. Great service and lots of neat memorbilia. Their beer selection is well above average as well. As far as the pizza is concerned, their cheese is their strong suit, and it's some of the strangest, most delicious cheese I've ever had on a pizza. It reminds me of popcorn cheese upon first taste, but it's enough like traditional mozzarella pizza cheese that you don't feel you're eating something trying to be something else.

Anthony's is in a little strip mall on Lancaster Avenue. It's very clubby inside. Dark wood, a long bar and lots of TVs playing sports. There are several signs around the restaurant saying "Warning, our pizzas are well done" and trust me they are. When the pizza arrives at your table, it's thin crust and crispy and even has some edges that are black. Just the way I like pizza. This is not one of those places that has doughy, bready pizza. It's crisp and well done. I always get the pizza here. I know they have a full menu, but the pizza is the best on the Main Line and I have to ask, why stray? I did have a salad here once and it was fresh and crisp. The service is good, friendly and fast. Weekend tend to fill up here. It's popular and getting more popular.

  • Chris V.

You may ask, "Chris, how did you spend your 4th of July?". To that, I respond in the most american way I possibly could. By taking my German car , which put me in massive debt, and going out to Chester County to terrorize the blue bloods by driving at breakneck speeds in an effort to use as much fossil fuel as humanly possible in the span of a couple hours. And on that front, I will say mission accomplished. We were greeted at one point by Chester County's finest, who stated they received no less than 5 complaints regarding our little excursion into the backroads. Luckily, they were completely cool and let us off with nothing more than a warning and that we may want to move onto Delaware County if we wanted to continue our shenanigans. Now, what does this have to do with pizza? Well, if you've ever spent a good amount of time in the cockpit of a high performance car then you know that eventhough it's a fun time, it gets hot and will take a toll on your body. Therefore, as you are draining the fuel from your gastank, you need to refuel your body. Knowing little to nothing about the restauants in the snob filled Main Line we left the restauant picking to a friend who set up our little rally. His choice was Anthony's. Luckily since it was a holiday, it was fairly empty so we had no problems getting seating for our group of 7. The menu is pretty small which was nice for a change since so many pizza shops in the area seem to want to offer you everything from Pizza, to 20 different types of pasta dishes, 30 sandwich combinations, appetizers, etc. etc. Never understood that. You are a pizza place, just focus on the pizza and leave the other stuff to other places. Anthony's seems to fit the mold of a place with a small menu and they focus on making the items on the limited menu as well as possible. I split a small pizza with the better half and as a tip, if it's just two of you, it is more than enough. The pizza's, as has been stated in just abuot every review, are thin crusted and usually burnt. Now, normally that would be a bad thing. However, I have to say that it actually works. It's burnt, but I didn't find that it took away from the flavor at all. We ordered a pizza with sausage, meatballs, ricotta cheese and peppers on top. I thought everything went well together. The sausage and peppers providing just the right amount of bite and the ricotta and meatballs balancing out the spicyness with a some sweetness. It was just what we needed after our 3 hour journey. I'm not saying this is the greatest pizza ever, and it's certainly not the cheapest, but it was a nice change of pace from the normal shops in the area. I'd definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. P.S. No animals were harmed during our trip. Not that it matters....

The pizza here is quite delicious for a chain. The crust is very thin, crispy, and slightly charred on some edges, which gives it that homemade taste. We had the eggplant marino, which was generously topped with superthin eggplant slices, cheese, and a robust tomato sauce, and the roasted cauliflower, which came topped with cauliflower, garlic, cheese, and yes, bread crumbs. I really liked the eggplant pizza, which had the perfect ratio of eggplant:cheese:sauce on a crispy, almost flatbread-like crust., although I did kinda wish that the sauce had been a bit sweeter. But I am also one of those Franzone's addicts so that's just personal preference. Everyone else loved the sauce here. The cauliflower pizza was different but pretty tasty; it was basically a white pizza topped with pieces of caulifloer and breadcrumbs. This was the first time that I have had breadcrumbs on my pizza and now I am left wondering why a lot more places don't offer it. They definitely gave the pie an exra shot of savory, crunchy, buttery goodness. Service was pretty good and very efficient. Overall, I would say that this is better than Bertucci's in terms of quality but has a more limited menu selection (no pastas and only a few entree and sandwich options). About $20 for a large gourmet pizza. It was pretty busy tonight so I imagine that weekends are usually crowded.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Anthony's! This place DEFINITELY deserves all of the wonderful praise that it has here on Yelp. I have been going here a couple of times a month for awhile now, and I have a great experience every time I'm there! The food here is delicious! Who knew that even their plain pizza could be so flavorful? My only suggestion that I will make in terms of improving the menu is that I would really like a bigger beer selection, most of the beer they serve are IPA's, and I would love it if they served Belgians or stouts. Finally a good pizza place on the Main Line! Pros -GREAT pizza! -even though I don't like sports bars I really like the atmosphere at Anthony's: cozy, fun, relaxing and warm Cons -extremely long wait on busy nights, sometimes over an hour

When the first thing you notice when you walk in is a stale beer-sour mop smell, the experience isn't going to be the best. The smell bought me back to college nights on fermenting beer-soaked carpets in campus bars. Not that Anthony's has any carpeting. While the service was good, the food left a little to be desired. The house salad we ordered was dressed in a watery, bland vinaigrette-like they forgot to drain the water after washing the romaine. The tomatoes were mealy and icy, like they'd been stored in back of the cooler and froze. There were a few sorry black olives and bits of onion to add flavor, but not enough. The pizza was good, but like others have reviewed, a little too coal-fired in spots for my tastes. Its hard to screw up pizza and salad, but somehow Anthony's did. Not a good thing for a restaurant that is all about salads and pizza. To top it all off, Anthony's has no draft beer and the bottle selection is a bit shallow.

I love this pizza. The Eggplant is my all-time fave, it's seriously amazing. Be warned, this place on a Friday or Saturday is bumpin' and you will wait for a table. Best to get there for a late lunch/early dinner (especially on a Saturday) or just do take-out. Martinis are pretty decent too. Order the salad as an appetizer and plan on sharing. It feeds three easily.

A different way to do pizza on the Main Line, and that's a really, really good thing. Anthony's is well worth the trip for the food. Atmosphere - Classy and modern interior with lots of TV's and art deco style. The first thing that hit me coming in was a great warm coal smell with fresh baked goods. Lobby is a little small for the amount of people who were there on a Saturday night, but they have a separate take out area which was great for my pickup. Staff - I actually didn't dine in here, but I did pick up from a separate counter. Order was actually just finishing and hostess made sure it was boxed and in my hands in less then two minutes. Was quite busy inside, nearly every table was full around dinner time. Food - My wife and I LOVED it. We ordered to-go Wings, which were also coal fired and came with caramelize onions. Meat fell off the bone and was super juicy and tender. Onions and foccacia bread included were delicious as well. We order a fresh mozzarella pizza which was super high quality and a sausage pizza which had a great, meaty taste as well. Phenomenally fresh and the crust and a great taste to balance the tomato and fresh basil pizza. Intangibles - Located in Wayne, lot can be hard to get in and out of with traffic, no light or intersection to use. Right next door to another restaurant that draws a lot of kids, so sometimes can draw that crowd in as well. Stocked bar on site as well for a great drink while you're waiting. Overall - Anthony's does things different, and for those who appreciate waiting for a better meal, you'll love this little gem. If you're just in the mood for a regular slice of pizza, you may want to go to a local place as the prices here can run more on the expensive side.

I love this place and come as often as I can. The wings are fantastic, little seasoning with rosemary in a coal fired oven, so are the ribs (hot) and everything else I have ever had from here. Pizza is a thin crust and nicely charred on the edges. All round fantastic place, can't recommending enough! I really like this place and keep coming back just for the amazing wings...and ribs! Not your traditional hot sauce covered wings but rosemary coal fired goodness...him. The pizza is fantastic too, but remember its coal fired so its going to be charred around the edges! This is a step above your regular pizza joint and a highly recommend it.

Super friendly staff. Tried the oven baked wings like other reviewers said if you don't like onions don't order them. They have a whole chopped onion on top of it but I love onions so I thought it was really delicious. Have to go try a pizza sometime soon.

Damn good pizza, thin, crispy crust and I like the "well done" aspect of the pizza. After suffering through some badly undercooked pizza's at other places I really like this. While I really like this pizza, what is even better are the wings. God they are good, no they aren't your Buffalo Hot wings, but oven roasted crispy with a hint of rosemary, served with caramelized Onions and Foccacia bread. As a combination I was puzzled and skeptical at first, but after trying them they go great together and I am a huge fan now.

Yum, it's hard to find a good thin crust pizza in the burbs. This place may be a chain but it's just what the Philly suburb's orderd. Nice place to go to meet a friend or grab a drink and some pizza after work. We had the ricotta, sausage and hot pepper pie. It was delish. Yes, they're pizza's come out somewhat charred on the bottom but it's posted in big letters on the wall that their pizza's are "well done". It's a trademark of a good Coal Fired pizza and give the pizza nice character and flavor suprisingly. Know this beforehand if it's not your cup of tea. Another pleasant suprise on their menu- the wings. They are oven roasted and covered in a nice array of seasonings. They come out over a bed of flatbread and carmelized onions that also add flavor. No bbq sauce on these guys which I love. I would definitely return to Anthony's. Nice casual place to grab a good thin crust pie and drink or even bring the family. Service was prompt and friendly.

I've been twice since moving to Wayne and have had two great meals. Their menu is super small- pizza, wings and salad with very little else- but they do those three so well. I had the plain cheese and tomato mozzarella pizzas and both were fantastic. Definitely worth a trip.

Exclellent pizza whole tomatos in the sause are very tasty also the spicy ribs are very very good only issue with the coal overn that tend to burn / overcook the crust just ask them not to fun bar good drinks a fun place to go

Very nice Pizza Resturant with a great atmosphere. My wife and daughter love their cauliflower pizza. A little pricey, but the food and service was outstanding. Will definetly be back again!

Okay, so who knew this place has the ambience, the full bar, the sportscasts that COULD make Anthony's a total package BUT it failed. Because my salad, which took fo-Eva was ffffrozen with the egg yolk bouncing off my ffffork, the chickpeas bbbbouncing better than Kobe and the manager, Sal Romano, making excuses rather than apologies. Shame on Sal! shouldn't have been a hard sell, but hard sal made to it so. Pizza should be the call for your menu choice, but it is Well Done aka fairly burnt. Great location, great that they have FULL bar yes! Not so great that sal was not so great yo Sal yowhere'd ya go! Will try again soon sal so watch for me! No bouncing egg yolks and don't blame others for your lack of supervision. Service slow cas a comatose turtle too. Ugh.

Really, really good pizza & friendly staff. I eat here all the time. $1.50 ice-cold Peroni on Mondays & Tuesdays.

The pizza was good- thats about it. half way into my first slice of pizza i almost choked on a WHOLE CLOVE OF GARLIC! when i alerted the waiter to this he said "oh yea sometimes they get in the sauce" and that was it- i was left with a mouthful of garlic; thank goodness i got that slice and not my 2 year old son who was with us. On the way out it was crowded and the host allwed people to waitstanding near the bar blocking the only exit aisle. These people wouldnt scoot out of the way as we tried to leave (even though i am 7 months pregnant) the hosts just sat and watched. how frustrating!

Well I have to say that Anthony's is on the family Pizza Radar! Plus Mon & Tues Nites are Perroni's for $1.50. Give it a try cause its GOOD!

We went to Anthony's on a Sunday and there was little to no wait when our party of 6 arrived around 6:00, but a line grew while we were eating.I guess enough has been said about the burnt pizza. I'm not a huge crust fan, definitely don't like burned stuff, but on our pizza, it was really only a small portion of the edge crust I noticed that was burnt so it didn't bother me a bit. We started off with the salad and the ribs. The salad was fine, but nothing to rave about. But the ribs? These aren't barbeque ribs (and being from the south, that's what I'm used to), but they are absolutely tender, fall off the bone, juicy seasoned ribs. My 12 year old who is not a fan of the traditional ribs I love turned up his nose when we ordered these, but after he was convinced to try a bite, he ended up scarfing down quite a few of these. My mouth is watering now just thinking about them! Too bad we live out of town, or I could see stopping by Anthony's quite often for that dish. As for service - eh. We were seated quickly, but our waitress was less than attentive. She did the basics - took our orders, brought the food, brought the check, but no checking in, nothing above and beyond.

I love thin crisp crust pizza and true to their motto Anthony's is "Pizza Well-done" and the rotated wings a quite good as well.

A lunch standby. Decent pizza with OK service. somewhat of a limited menu. I still prefer a straight up pie from a local joint to the 'coal fired' pie and chain restaurant feel of Anthony's. A bar with no draft beer? I don't get it...

  • Ted E.

This is the type of pizza I like - thin and crispy. The pizza was good. We had the one with eggplant. I think the sausage might have been a better choice. The salad was fresh and crisp - and there was plenty. I tried their wings which are cooked in the coal oven. They were interesting. Not a cheap pizza dinner but worth trying. I don't think pizza places with large screen TV and no draft beer deserve more than 3 stars.

We came here on a Friday night. It was packed. Lots of kids, I supposed it's a family restaurant. We waited about 30 mins for our table and the atmosphere in the place was NOISY. I'm not sure why it's so loud but it's definitely not a place for first dates. We ordered the wings with the onions....it came out cold... like it was pre-prepared and it's wasn't very tasty. The bread that came with it was cold and hard. I didn't see the point of the bread. We ordered the Eggplant Marino and Mozzarella, Basil & Tomato pizzas. Both were just ok...we didn't see all the raves were about. I think the plain cheese pizza from Lorenzo and Sons in S.Philly was way better than these.

  • Robert H.

Some other reviewers have commented about the saltiness of the pizza... this is true, you'll definitely be thirsty for the next 16 hours afterward. But I don't think the salt taste is overwhelming, and overall the pizzas are quite yummy... with wonderful toppings! It is thin crust and slightly burnt, but that is just a style that some people prefer (myself included). The service is typically very prompt, friendly, and attentive. The noise level is a little high... not a great place if you want to focus on the conversation, and/or if you have older folks as company.

I'm giving Anthony's a 4 since I did not enter the facility or sit...we did take out and my husband went in. What I can say is that the pizza was fabulous! A nice thin crusty crust with a great sauce and delicious fresh ingredients! We got a large sausage, onion & pepper pizza. Could have used a little more sausage but the peppers & onions were just right. We called an hour ahead to request a pick-up and it was ready when we got there. I would definitely go back and this time go in and check it out!

Really good pizza in a pretty cool atmosphere makes for a nice night out with the spouse. Have been wanting to come here for a while and finally made it at 6:30pm on a Saturday. Place was fairly crowded so we had a drink at the bar and enjoyed some pretty tasty wings. Once seated, our waiter was fairly good, although he tried three times to get me to buy another beer. I wasn't biting. Started off with their house salad which comes made for two....it can almost feed three. We ordered a mushroom pie. Now I'm not a fan of thin crust pizza, but this had enough going for it to change my mind, albeit perhaps temporarily. The sauce was not overpowering, and the cheese was just enough. Really tasty cheese, too. I was thinking the crust would be crunchy (like a Mack and Manco's at the shore) but it wasn't. The outer limits of the pie were that way but the body of the pie was soft, chewy and delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Nice stop for a Saturday night.

I love the thin crust pizza. This is a must for my husband or he won't even try the restaurant. We've been back a couple of times, so I know it's a favorite of his. Just be warned, its not hard to end up with a $50 tab for a pizza, salad, and a couple of beers.

Good food and service. Husband and I had the sausage and broccoli rabe pizza which was very good. It had a good balance of flavors and the broccoli rabe was perfectly done. Ours was not overly burnt and had a good crispiness to the crust. A large pie feeds 2 hungry people with some left to take home. Yum! We'll be back There is also a tv at the bar and a tv outside for those who are waiting.

This place was a great change from typical pizza places. With a party of six on a Saturday night, I was shocked that we did not have to wait too long for a table. Wait service was awesome (Joey S.) and very attentive. The greatest surprise was the ribs and wings - amazingly good. You must try it when there. We also shared eggplant pizza and one with arugula - excellent. Dolup of ricotta accompanying the meatballs were a nice touch. Definitely go back again.

    (5)
  • Karen S.

Nice selection of pizzas. Got the meatball and ricotta pie. However, my pie was blistered black on the bottom and sides. Even the meatballs were charred. I thought this was some kind of mistake until I looked at the pizzas at the table next to me. Same thing. Apparently, this is what they do. Not to my taste. The burnt crust gives an awful bitter taste to the pizza, not to mention ups the carcinogen levels. I'll stick to pizza from a wood burning oven, at least, they have better control of the pizza temperature. Staff are very friendly though.

Let me preface my review by saying that I like well-salted foods, and that we like sausage pizza. We started with a small order of the baked wings based on one of the reviews here. Eaten solo, they were hot, crispy, salty, and rosemary-y. Crispy like they might as well have been deep fried. I wasn't into them. Eaten with the onions, they were pretty good, though. So if you don't like thick caramelized onions, you should know that the wings were really better with them. We had the large, 1/2 broccoli rabe + sausage, and 1/2 sausage + meatballs + sweet peppers + ricotta. Salty, salty, salty. I normally eat 3-4 pieces and I toyed with stopping after 1.5, but I finished it. The meats just blended together into saltiness and the oily salty broccoli was no break for the mouth; might as well have been another meat! The sausage had no defining spice, and the meatballs were just sortof balls of mashed meat. Again, no defining spice other than overwhelming salt. We like much more sauce (there was basically a thin reddish smear that added no tomato flavor), and even though DH loves ricotta, he thought it added to the saltiness. The pizza was covered in toppings, which usually is a good thing, but it was just torture to eat all of it. I did like the crust, which was just chewy enough and not cracker-thin, but it was hard to get the flavor of the big black char bubbles out of your mouth once you ate one. We kept comparing it (each of us, in our heads) to the delicious Peace a Pizza Battuto we ordered last week (Pesto, mozzarella cheese, fennel sausage, plum tomatoes and basil) that we housed. I'll go there in the future and we will not be back to Anthony's. As a finale, DH and I and our 4 y.o. were all in the bathroom within 30 minutes of arriving home. We both still feel salty bloated sick.

We have visited Anthony's in Wayne a number of times and my wife is a big fan of the burnt-style crust and I agree. Salads are really good too. So why the 3 stars? Service can sometimes be slow, pizzas are kinda expensive, sodas only come in bottles, and the Cabernet leaves a bit to be desired. But overall I always choose to go back and order take out from there often.

Continues to be the BEST pizza and wing experience in and around the main line. After a long morning of house hunting, this was our choice for a quick bite to eat. It continues to make me happy and affirm my choices in life that I can quickly and easily select the best pizza in the main line and it is right here. Easily the best.

My husband and I are very picky pizza folk. We like Pepes and Sallys in New Haven, and Anthony's Coal Fired is the closest we've come to that! We love it and their house salad, great meal, good atmostphere, rarely have we had to wait for a table...

Meatballs are very tasty and the service is fast and friendly, exceeds expectations. Nice bar and good draught selection. But cant figure out why they don't have dried oregano for your pizza. They have no dried herbs for seasoning. Don't get the oregano thing?

Great apps, fresh made pizza in a coal fired oven. The pizza is well done so if you want a light crisp ask server when you place your order. Great selection of craft beer on tap. The wait staff has always been helpful and on top of clearing the table and offering clean plates. Worth the trip we try and hit them at least once a month.

We were very pleasantly surprised by our experience at Anthony's. The wings were the best I've ever had and our pizzas and the service were perfect. The atmosphere in the restaurant was positive and upbeat. We are looking forward to going back.

We have tried at least 15 pizza places since moving to the area and Anthony's is by far the best. The atmosphere is casual and lively with a great beer selection on the chalkboard. The pizza is "well done" with no soggy center.

I was underwhelmed by their pizza. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special. However they did have a fairly sizable beer list and excellent service.

Probably the best tasting pizza I've had in the Philly suburbs. The crust is a perfect level of crispness and the toppings are all very high quality. The chicken wings are also worth trying. They are not spicy, its more like a juicy roasted chicken. The beer selection is solid, and the service was good.

The end.

Best pizza! This place is out of this world. The food is really good. The coal fired wings are just perfect, crispy and smothered in roasted garlic and onions. And the pizza...they sell specialty pizzas but I keep going back for pepperoni. You seriously must try this place. You won't be disappointed.

Delicious pizza! I always order my pizza well done so I figured I'd like this place; I was wrong...I loved it! The pizza has the texture of a true, authentic pizza that I haven't seen duplicated outside of Italy too often. Service is pleasant, fast, and attentive.

Always a perfect pizza, i love going there on the weekends. The manager Joey is terrific and makes me feel special every time i walk in. The place is a must, best pizza in town.

Ugh.

I love the thin crust pizza. This is a must for my husband or he won't even try the restaurant. We've been back a couple of times, so I know it's a favorite of his. Just be warned, its not hard to end up with a $50 tab for a pizza, salad, and a couple of beers.
