This was a great place that a friend brought me to. The service was prompt and professional. From the appetizer, bread and main entree it was excellent. There is a varied menu to choose from although it is not so big that it is difficult to choose from. I had the cook your own steak in a stone. If you haven't tried the place out, you should. I'll be going back when I get back in the area.

We've frequented the restaurant a few times over the the past 3 months and the food is absolutely superb! Can't say you'll ever leave hungry either, the portions are huge and your leftovers will feed you for days, no kidding there. However, the service is lacking. The first visit we had an attentive waitress and things flowed nicely. Our last visit being just 2 days ago. The 2nd and 3rd visit (2 days ago) not so well. We had the same waitress the last 2 visits and she clearly needs some schooling. She is not helpful when asked questions regarding the menu and specials. Doesn't have answers and doesn't even appease by saying "i'll go check on that for you." She simply says "i don't know" or "i'm not sure" and makes a face as if to let you know she should know the answers but doesn't. An example of this last visit, they had a rib eye dinner as a special that evening, when my husband asked whether "bone in or boneless" she did just as stated above, "i'm not sure" and made the face. She did this on the 2nd visit as well, we remembered her, she's hard not to remember. Also during this last visit, she never bothered to ask if we wanted anything more than the water they give you as they seat you. After receiving our bread and oil my husband drank all of water, he sat there for more than 20 minutes without anything to drink, of course i offered him mine lol She made several trips to the table behind us and every time i tried to get her attention she walks away wit her head down and turns quickly. She finally appeared at our table and we asked for more water, another 10 minutes go by and she never returned with it. She comes back with the appetizer and again we ask for water. She comes back to clear the appetizer away and again have to ask for the water!! Finally she does produce water for us to refill. She has been there now for a few months, as i stated above we had her before this last visit. She should be on her toes by now and have the knowledge in the daily specials and the regular menu so questions can be answered. If she doesn't have an answer, it should be "i'll go find out"or "i'll go check on that for you." At the end of the meal, we ask for the check. That took another 15 minutes to produce. She really needs to be more attentive to her tables. I don't think she multitasks well. As wonderful as the food is, i hope they can get better help to match the quality of their food. The food is excellent though!

This is a sleepy family owned restaurant near the Poconos. My family came here President's Day weekend and the tables had cute decor of white tablecloths and red roses, perhaps for Valentine's Day. For apps, we got the garlic shrimp, which wasn't too special, and the crab meat piquillo peppers, which were too drenched in sauce. For my entree, I got the Picadinho, which was a dish everyone was jealous of. It had everything you could want -- pork, shrimp, chorizo and potatoes! I would come back just for this dish. Service was somewhat slow, but our waitress (the chef's wife) was very sweet.

We loved it! Our waitress, Breana, was terrific and so helpful with her recommendations. We started with the avocado salad which was perfectly crisp, bright, and delicious. It was accompanied by warm bread with both butter and olive oil for dipping, so good! Our entrees were Picadinho and Chicken Paella. The Picadinho was amazing! I wasn't sure how potatoes would go with that combo but they were perfectly diced and melded beautifully. The crispy shrimp was a wonderful contrast to the chorizo, pork, beef, etc. The sauce was incredible and perfectly complimented the dish. The Chicken Paella was very good but a bit mild so we added some of the Picadinho sauce and that sent it over the top. Next time we might order those dishes and combine them for the best of both worlds, although there were other very appealing dishes on the menu that we want to go back for. P.S. The chef is quite willing to tweak any dishes at your request for an even more perfect experience.

This Portuguese/Spanish spot is amazing! The bread was outstanding as we're our dishes, shrimp in green sauce and the pulpo! After a long day hiking it was a great meal to end the day!

Definitely love the ambiance. Nice decor with purple table cloth and wooden chairs. I had the steak on the stone so of course it was DELICIOUS!!! love the rice and vegetables pairing. They provided garlic salt and butter which helped with the grilling. My gf had the veal but the veal was a bit dried. I had taken the bread and toated it on the hot stone with garlic and butter to make my own garlic bread. :D

What can I say, we eat here all the time! Appetizers are delicious and well portioned, we love the beef empanada's but the shrimp in garlic is also fantastic. For dinner one of my favorites is the Portuguese steak always juicy and tender a real comfort meal. The paella is fantastic and my wife loves the chicken masala. They always serve bread and olives all of which are top quality. As this is a family restaurant you can see the love and effort that goes into everything and this shows in the great food Marco delivers every time and the friendliness of the staff. I highly recommend that you give them a try you won't regret it.

Went here with my girlfriend for Valentine's Day. What a great choice. Very classy, very friendly, very romantic, and a very professional staff. We were lucky to have some live music to listen to - a guy playing his nylon-string guitar. We shared the stuffed mushroom appetizer which was very good. My girlfriend had the seared tuna which she raved about. My salted cod was less than exciting, but that won't affect my view or rating of this place. For dessert we had great coffee and the best flan I have ever had.

Carrie, her husband (the chef) and their staff are the best! They hosted my father's birthday and we are returning for two family functions within the next couple of weeks. The food is delicious! The portions are great!

Not just Spanish but a variety of wonderful dishes. Everything we had from Garlic Chicken to Chicken Marsala was wonderful. Also had Avacodo Salad which was excellent. Accompanied by warm bread and generous service and it was a wonderful meal.

I live in New Jersey and know excellent Portuguese food from Newark, this place is right up there with the the best of the best! I have eaten at Marco Antonio's numerous times and it has been fabulous every single time! The weekends get busy, but they are very accommodating to their diner's needs. The wait staff and manager Carrie are all so kind and warm! I had the chorizo flambe and the shrimp in garlic sauce for appetizers and they were outstanding! I have had the steak on a stone and t-bone steak, both very good. I can't say I have had a bad meal here, I'll be back there on Sunday with my family!

I have recently have gone to this restaurant and during the weekdays the server is quiet I must agree but it's a relaxing environment with great acoustic music in the background with a view of main street. Yes there is a table in the back for the owners kids but hey they were quiet and polite while I ate there. I must say that the weekends that I have been there it's busy and there was a bit of a wait but when it's busy and the food is made fresh why not take the time to enjoy talking with your friend or family member. The servers are also hardworking and always have a smile in their faces which made me Feel comfortable at this restaurant. I give props to the owner for opening when they did after closing and moving to stroudsburg. They are doing a fantastic job and I plan on going back for more!!! Bravo

Found this restaurant by chance while traveling through Stroudsburg. Good find! Only had time for appetizers. Stuffed mushrooms w/crabmeat were outstanding, empanadas were equally delicious. BYOB

Hear that? Is that your delicious steak sizzling? Nope, that would be the over zealous manager yelling at her wait staff. Good food, weird vibe. A Restaurant Impossible episode waiting to happen...

Disappointing. Cute place. Excellent hostess who was also the waitress. Couldn't have been nicer. Unfortunately we happened to witness that the bread is heated in the microwave prior to serving. The shrimp in garlic appetizer was very good. The paella was dry... The chicken and lobster in it were tough and over cooked. Will not be back.

Came by after a couple of cocktails next store at the Yard of Ale--these folks can COOK. This is some of the best Portuguese I've had outside of Ironbound. Did 5 0r 6 appetizers, along with the steak on stone as the main course. There is an incredible attention to detail--EVERYTHING came out beautiful-- one thing-- it's BYOB-- so bring along a nice Mateus to accent the flavors. I will definitely be coming back here often-- the octopus was magnificent.

I have to say that this place was a pleasant surprise. I had the seafood paella which was a bit pricy but the amount of food justifys the price. It was delicious and the seafood tasted very fresh. It took me two days to finish it! My husband was also pleased with his meal. The empanada app was also very good. Not your standard empanadas; the baccala empanada was very good. This is a nice place for a quiet afternoon with your honey. Relaxed atmosphere BYOB. Nice decor as well.

There were 4 tables seated and it took 25 minutes for our order to be taken. We ordered two appetizers; Chicken Empanadas and Artichoke Milanese. The empanadas were OK. The dough was rubbery but the filling was tasty and seasoned properly. The Artichoke Milanese was almost good - except for a complete lack of basic seasoning. A touch of salt would have turned this into a beautiful dish. The entrees ordered were basic- Chicken and Rice (arroz con pollo) and Grilled Sardines. I have made Arroz Con Pollo and ordered it at many restaurants and have never had such a bland version of the dish. Again, some salt and pepper to highlight flavors would have been useful. The person I was out with stated the Grilled Sardines were very good but the side on his plate - a boiled potato was just that - a boiled white potato. He said that it didn't even taste as though the water the potato was boiled in had salt added. It took over 2hrs to get through this disappointing meal. From being seated to having our order taken: 25 min, from initial order to receipt of appetizers: 30 minutes. From appetizer course to main: ~30 minutes. After we finished eating because nothing tasted good it took the waitress about another 30 minutes to come back. I asked her to wrap the dinners - I fixed them at home. After paying the check, which also took forever we had to remind the server to give us our take out. I noticed other diners were antsy to leave too. I'm not sure the proprietors are very bright. The first time I tried to go it was closed at a time when most businesses are open. I noticed hours were not posted and slipped a note inside the crack of the door suggesting posting hours is a great and simple thing for a new business to do. Sadly, I'm sure this business will close as do most other restaurants on the Main Street of Stroudsburg.

Talk about a long wait. 20 minutes for waitress to come over, 20 minutes for drinks, 20 minutes for aps. Really? 1 hour for 2 drinks and 2 aps? And the worst thing, the food was mot worth the wait. Unfortunate because we heard good things. Very bad off night. Will not be back. Dont have that much time. Lol

A new addition to Main Street in Stroudsburg this place is as good as it gets. We stopped in for dinner twice and both times the food was awesome. The portions are HUGE, so make sure you pack your appetite. The food is well prepared, seasoned, and FRESH. The empanadas are a must have as is the fried calamari.

The appearance of upscale dining is just that: an appearance. I decided to take my girlfriend here for our 3rd anniversary dinner, as it appeared to be one of the few upscale restaurants around. This was early on a Sunday night..roughly 6pm. We were greeted and sat in short order by the one waitress they had working. The ambience was upscale, with a mix of classical and Spanish music playing at a reasonable volume. There were only 2 other tables seated, so food turn around may be an issue. Service was prompt, and the waitress was knowledgeable and pleasant; no complaints there. She grabbed our drinks, water and also brought out warm bread, black olives, olive oil and butter packets (the plastic cup variety). Here is the beginning of the illusion. If you are going upscale (and the process more closely reflect that), maybe an olive tapenade instead of plain pit in olives? No question was made to whether we wanted cracked pepper in our olive oil, so table pepper was used. As for the butter, if you are touting a chef, at least use a slab of sea salted butter instead of diner type packets. The menu is EPIC. Way too big for any restaurant to properly maintain and cook. I started to worry. My girlfriend ordered the onion soup, and it was delicious. Onion-y, garlicky, cheesy goodness. Dinner was looking good. For appetizers we ordered fried calamari and the crab cocktail. Both were bland. The calamari was properly cooked and not rubbery and the marinara sauce typical, but there was no seasoning to be found. The same goes for the crab cocktail. Though I could clearly see onions, capers and tomato, the dish was bland, leading me to believe it had been refrigerated to the point of flavor loss. Disappointing. For our main courses, she had the seared tuna, and I a dish with pickled pork and clams (I can't remember the name). I chose that dish because I figured there was no way it could be bland. I was right. The pickling and seasoning were spot on. The flaw, however, was the clams. They ask had a fishy smell and were rubbery; most likely frozen, but definitely not fresh. No, I didn't get sick, if you were wondering, but the clams definitely brought down what was shaping up to be a wonderful fish. The seared tuna was perfect and flavorful, but the sides failed to impress. Bland again. Just some salt and pepper in the cooking process would have made a world of difference. We didn't have dessert, so I cannot comment on that. With a serious menu reduction and some basic seasoning, this could be a real gem, but as it stands, I can't see this restaurant succeeding. I was disappointed and probably will not return.

We were driving back to Long Island, having just dropped off our son at PSU. We were feeling a little blue as our baby has left the nest. I was driving and hubby went onto YELP to look for a place to have dinner. He selected Marco Antonio's. We did not have a reservation and were greeted warmly and seated quickly in a packed restaurant that had two servers working. Those ladies did their VERY best to get to everyone and everything. They clearly need an additional server working but they were so sweet and so professional and working their butts off - you didn't really care that the service was slow. Hubby had Picadinho - which is a sausage, potato, chicken and shrimp dish. DELICIOUS. I had pork cutlets. Also delicious. The bread was delicious. We had soup as appy - devoured it. I highly recommend a trip. Come hungry and have patience with staff.

Delicious! I loved the eggplant wrap appetizer, the tortilla española, and the picadinho. The lunch prices are a steal!

After checking out the downtown Stroudsburg area we chose Marco's. I was a bit skeptical as it was almost empty but decided to go for it anyway. The inexpensive buffet attracted us but after checking out the menu we chose to do tapas. It was a great decision. We were surprised that we were started with warm bread, oil, and olives which were awesome and plentiful. Then came the highlights. We stared with fried eggplant and aioli which came with greens and tomatoes- basically a salad We normally don't do fried food but it was a great treat on vacation. Then trying to keep it healthy, we went with the mixed sautéed veggies that were really great. Broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, onions, cauliflower, and spinach with garlic. Simple, yet perfect. Healthy really can be delicious. As the main course, we split the Picadinho which was a stew melange of pork, shrimp, chorizo, and potatoes in a wine, garlic and possibly paprika sauce. It was a big enough serving that we took some home. Our late lunch was relaxing and awesome. We ate more than we probably needed. It was high quality and all for $20. If they served wine, we would have had a few glasses but didn't realize it was byow until we sat down. Highly recommended for those looking for economical, high quality, euro style fare. Four stars.

Had a party of 8 the other evening for a birthday celebration. Ambiance was inviting, waitress was excellent. Appetizers were delicious and we mistakely gauged the rest of what was to come by this delicious prelude. Unfortunately, the satisfaction with Marco Antonio's ENDED THERE.... I ordered scallops which were presented beautifully but LOADED with sand. The accompanying green of escarole was equally griddy. What a turn off--especially @ $30 a plate!! The other fish dishes of tuna, lobster etc were reportedly dry. Poultry dish was extrememly oily. I think out of 8 of us, two people were happy with their meal. Marco Antonio's is a BYOB. I would recommend grabbing your favorite wine and stop in for an appetizer or two and support a local establishment.

We walked by and came for lunch on a Saturday. Food was very healthy and short good. Sometimes Spanish places can be oily, this is not case if this place. Food was excellent and pricing just right. Definitively recommend the place.

My first experience with this restaurant was walking by and being kind of confused as to why they didn't have a lunch menu. I didn't stop by again unil this Saturday when Stroudsburg had their Pocono Raceway themed street fair. Antonio's brilliantly decided to sell sodas for $1 and empenadas for $2.00 so a lot of people were willing to try something outside of typical PA cuisine for a low price. Very, very smart, and very tasty. The young ladies at the booth were also handing out menus which was clever as well, and corrected the impression that they had no lunch menu. I decided to give it a try, and I was impressed by the quality of the food. The eggplant appetizer was perfect, cut paper thin and fried with very light breading. Only a chef that likes this dish would make it so carefully. It is easy to lose the taste of teh eggplant or to make a soggy mess by slicing it to thick, but this chef did it perfectly. The wife of the chef suggested I should try the chicken parm, which I normally wouldn't eat. Let's be honest, every restaurant on the block has a chix parm and most are from the same sad five ingredients from some bland mega-distributor. I was very pleasantly suprised. The bread was from a local bakery, and fantastic, the sauce flavorful, the chicken crispy and tender, and the cheese melted without being a big oily mess. Good ingredients and careful preparation made a wonderful lunch and the portions are generous enough to bring some home. The waitress is a little bit inexperienced, and painfully shy, but she also was very attentive. Give her time. I found the restaurant a little quiet but there was classical guitar playing the whole time and it fit well with the decor and food. I've gone by in the evenings and seen the place hopping so I felt kind of lucky to be one of 3 tables full in the afternoon. I'm giving them a 4, but there is a 5 hiding in there, and I haven't even tried the Calamari yet!

I stopped here looking for something different. It was well worth it. The food was top notch--fresh and perfectly prepared. The wait staff was attentive, but not intrusive. I will definitely make this a must return when back in the Poconos area.

I was really, really hoping I would love this place. I just moved to the area and was impressed by the look and their menu online. However, the atmosphere needs more work than any restaurant I've ever been to. We ate in silence for almost the entire meal because they would play one song every 20 minutes. The wait staff seemed inexperienced, which only added to the awkward silence. I felt like I had to wisper the whole time since there was no background noise other than the footsteps of the waitress. The meal was okay (besides the bread), which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. Decent food, just needs some atmosphere and personality.

The food was amazing and i am glad beacause the only other place i can get food like this would be ironbound Newark. The place has a very upscale classy feel to it and the twin lobster tale is orgasmic. Enough said.

  • Jaime C.

Food was good but the place seems disorganized, and we waited for nearly an hour before our food arrived. They also brought all items at the same time, even though we specified we'd like to get whatever was ready, when ready. The spinach salad took the same prep time as the stuffed flounder? I think not.

We stopped by for dinner on a Sunday night. I was very happy with the menu selections -- a nice variety of Spanish/Portuguese meals. Our meal was hot, very good and the portions were large. Definitely would dine here again if in the area.
