Nice Staff but Slow and the Lunch was rather Average. Works for PA Turnpike drives.

Stopped here off the PA Turnpike on our way to Ohio! It was quick to get to, only .5 mile off the exit, and it was easy to sit at a table in the cafe and for $9.99 got soup and salad from the bar. The soups (there were two varieties) were both INCREDIBLE. And the salad was fine, a totally normal kind of salad bar. It was quick, service was great and friendly and I felt really great about making this food choice during the road trip!

The BLT was the best I've had, and they don't scrimp on the bacon! Husband's Reuben was excellent, he said.

We had their breakfast and it was great. But missed the turtle soup they had for lunch. Looked and smelled delicious. Will be back. The toast was home made and did not finish my potato so I could eat toast with jelly. Very good home made food

So four of us converged on this place on Saturday to have a meeting. The reviews were the best in Somerset, PA so you have to figure it should be okay. Anyway, we ordered, two in the party got the "Almost Philly Cheesesteak", I got the "Pittsburgh Beef and Blue" and my 10 year old got the "Somerset" gourmet hot dog. Wow... I don't know how else to describe it. Friendly service, Unbelievably great food, honestly, deserving of all the fantastic reviews. Next time we end up meeting, this will be our preferred stop. I can hardly wait to maybe try something different on the menu, might be hard to not order that "Pittsburgh Beef and Blue" again.

Great soup-and-sandwich place with excellent food. Really nice to get off the Turnpike and away from fast food places. We had excellent sandwiches. Would definitely go back.

Creative, small, and GOOD! I had the breakfast Rueben- very high marks for creativity. I was not expecting it to work- and it was awesome! That alone makes me want to come back and try lunch and dinner. Service was fast, attentive, and on point. If you miss out on this place- you are missing out on a great little gem!

Hummus wrap is fresh and delicious. Hubby loves Almost Philly Cheese Steak. Just off the highway. Cute downtown location.

Best chicken noodle soup ever. E.v.e.r. My toddler ate all the carrots in the soup for the first time ever! The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. Not to mention the coffee was equally as good.

I got the roast beef wrap and a cup of the chicken and rice soup. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this place at all. If I were to ever go back, it would be hard not to go with a fourth star. It was just missing that "knock your pants off" element. I just couldn't find anything that truly stood out. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. The quality of meat was good, the horseradish sauce on the tortilla was good, and the soup was definitely fresh. The service was good and the environment was good. Anyone picking up what I am laying down? Everything was good. Nothing great and nothing terrible. I would definitely go back for a quick, easy, cheap, and more healthy lunch.

Stopped in for lunch. Excellent. I had the portobello mushroom sandwich. Delicious. The salads are huge and fresh with plenty of toppings. Fresh baked goods. Good coffee. Even the pickles are home made. Well worth the drive off the highway.

I got the Rachel (a Ruben with turkey) and my boyfriend got an apple salad. Great food and good service. Would stop again if we were passing by.

My family and I were driving to Ohio and needed a hot breakfast ASAP. Thanks to yelp we found this gem. The serving size were definitely bigger than what I've had. it was very quite we seated ourselves, the food was great the pancakes was like biting into a cloud. my only complaint was the coffee was cold and the food, the omelets, were lukewarm. On our way out we bought some baked goods they tasted so fresh and homemade. the front of the restaurant may look unassuming but the food speaks volumes!

What a lovely place right on Main Street in Somerset, PA! Excellent food at reasonable prices, and a delightful wait staff. I have family in the area and love knowing that there is an amazing place like this.

Driving on the PA turnpike, there are limited healthy options. And while I'm not a vegetarian, I do enjoy a vegetarian meal from time to time. Doing a quick search on Yelp actually led me to Crazy Alice's. Crazy Alice's is located about two miles off the turnpike, which may be a deterrent for some, but it was nice to see the town of Somerset and get away from the monotony of a 500-mile-long car ride. The restaurant itself is located on the main drag of Somerset (Main St.) in what looks to be a little mall type building. The lunchtime cafe is located at the back of the hallway, with the formal dining area for dinnertime closer to the front entrance. Decor is cozy with plenty of four-tops (and a few two-tops), perfect for meeting a friend or two for lunch. The lunch menu did not have as many vegetarian options as I had hoped for, but it had a variety of sandwiches and salads (I believe the dinner menu has more vegetarian selections). I opted for the spinach salad, a heaping pile of dark greens covered with mushrooms and plenty o' bacon. The bacon was cooked to perfection--not too dark, greasy, or overly crispy. The salad came with two red beet eggs for a bit more protein, and the uber-tasty PA Dutch bacon dressing was served on the side. Now living in Ohio, hot bacon dressing is a rarity, so I'm always excited to get my hands on a salad with this delicious dressing. The salad also came with a couple small slices of multigrain bread. Service was solid; my food came out pretty quickly. I asked the staff a question about finding a nearby gas station and they were friendly and quick to help. I will definitely keep this place in mind on my travels between Central Ohio and Central PA. It's nice to get off the highway to a quiet spot and enjoy a good quality, yet affordable meal just a couple miles off the turnpike.

On a cross country road trip, we decided to hit up Crazy Alice's on our final leg of the journey. Exhausted, we pulled up to Crazy Alice's in the tiny town of Somerset. Prices were right and my ham and egg was surprisingly good. Staff seemed a little off, but hey, they do call it 'Crazy Alice's'.

Reuben & Rachel are both worth the stop. Great service and cozy cafe packed with locals. We get off the turnpike all the time for this one during our travels to/from Pitt.

Hungry while driving on the lovely PA turnpike between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, I wondered, "where in the heck am I going to eat around here?" The upcoming exit at Somerset seemed to be my only option and when I saw the name of this place, I had my GPS guide me right there. Free street parking in the center of town was a good start. I walked in the front door of the cozy cafe, which is actually on the street level of a multi-business office building. I sat down at one of the small tables and looked over the coffee options and food menus. On the chalk board above the expresso bar I saw the words "Brown Sugar Cinnamon latte." Done. Among the variety of soups, salads and sandwiches I saw the Italian Stack...and stacked it was; ham, salami, capicola, melted provolone, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers and Italian dressing all on a ciabatta bun. Wow, there was so much flavor and I savored each and every bite. What a great sandwich! Then my waitress had the audacity to offer me dessert, highlighting their homemade cookies in the display case, as if I would even consider such a thing. So, I paid my bill and walked out to my car, with a large chocolate chip cookie in my hand.

Looking for a locals place off the PA Turnpike - Yelp led us here. The restaurant is within a little store mall and was very slow (Monday lunch). We questioned the 5 minute extra drive from the off-the-exit options - but that was only until we got the soup. The food was excellent and the service was the same. All 5 in my business group were happy with soup through dessert - not a group that's easily pleased. More than worth a stop traveling the PA Turnpike.

Cute cafe with a great lunch. The Cuban sandwich was fantastic. Skip the fast food and drive a couple miles, it's worth it.

We stopped here on a road trip for dinner. I was hoping to sit outside with our dog but it was a little too early in the year. That's ok, they were really nice about take-out. Even in Styrofoam the salmon was delightful, specialty with trender crisp green beans and creamy garlic potatoes. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed the pasta primavera, full of vegetables and tossed with a light dressing instead of a heavy cream sauce.

Stopped here on the way to Virginia from Michigan. It is right off the PA Turnpike and totally worth the stop. We went to their Sunday brunch and it was amazing! This place will now be a regular stop on our VA to MI trips. Brunch was impressive--omelet bar, chocolate fountain, amazing breakfast dishes and desserts. All this for only $15.99 per person. Definitely worth it! Excellent waitstaff and nice atmosphere.
