I hosted a baby shower in Syracuse this weekend, and through friend and family connections I was able to procure a cake from Miss Ellie's in Scranton (only slightly out of the way from DC to Syracuse) for an excellent discount. Possibly free. Since I'm just an innocent bystander, my job here is not to ask questions about price but rather comment exclusively on the quality of the cake, which I am well qualified to do since I actually ate more than the pregnant lady. Diane, the owner, whipped up a beautiful carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. It was delicious! The frosting was creamy and so tasty. The cake itself had just the right amount of spice and firmness to it, but it was still moist and melted in your mouth. Our mutual friend had sent her a PDF of the invitation and she did a wonderful job copying the design onto the cake - no small feat, since the baby carriage on the invite had really complicated wheels with lots of concentric circles and ovals. I'll try to upload a picture -- it was beautiful! I can't give Miss Ellie's five stars because I've definitely had better "fancy" cakes in the DC and Baltimore area. However, for the price and region, Miss Ellie's does a wonderful job and I would definitely recommend.

I ordered the birthday cake and it's so yummy. Until now I still want to have the cake again when I finished the dinner. The cream is so sweet , but I love it. The cake is very soft.

They make good cakes, a little pricey, but they taste good. I love their brownies, they are pretty good. Have never had anything bad from there.
