Come here after you eat from the Plumsteadville Inn, great treat and nice outdoor space to enjoy ice cream.

When it's 96 in the shade, it is okay to give yourself permission to cool down and chill out with some quality ice cream. Finding myself in the northern wilds of Bucks County on a visit to Ockanickon Boy Scout Reservation on an unforgiving day under the broiling sun, I wove my way down twisting two lanes into the oasis town of Plumsteadville. The blacktop mirage rippled its shimmer view, making the buildings appear to float. I spied the Plumsteadville Inn, and right next to it, Chubby's. Normally, I don't like ice cream before 5, and prefer not to eat it alone. But, this was an exception. I needed to lower my body temp before I started to act on my hallucinations. I walked in, and the AC hit me hard. Two angels came to my aid, offering to provide me with cool scoops of any flavor I could imagine. Because it was my first time in heaven they handled me a Golden Ruler as a gift (see photo). They said it would help me stay "measured." It was up to me to design the proper elixir to counteract the heat. Intuition led me to Salted Caramel and Black Cherry. It was lovingly served me in a styro cup, for under $5. The angelic smiles as I tossed the change into their prayer jar will not be forgotten. By the time I walked the short distance to my car the ice cream was already melting. I tasted both before I would be required to drink from the cup. Sheer excellence. Cool, creamy, sweet, salty, chunky, chewy - Ambrosia of the Gods. What else do angels serve on a sweltering day? ArcAngel Chubby does not make his own ice cream. It is Nelson's Ice Cream, made in Royersford, Pa. It may not be the bestest ice cream I have ever tasted, but on a day like today when shoes stick to pavement, it came straight from Valhalla.

Stopped in for dessert after a really good meal at the Plumsteadville Inn right across the parking lot. Lots of really good flavors and nothing to crazy or oddball either. Sometimes privately owned ice cream shops go a little too far with flavor combinations, so it was nice to see familiar ones. I had Raspberry Cheesecake and my girl had mocha chip flavor. It was definitely a situation where there were too many good choices! Very friendly staff and good prices for the servings.

I really enjoyed my experience at Chubby's. It's a really cute place (very rustic) with lots of seating outside. We were there at a random time on a sunny afternoon in April so it wasn't packed, but I could definitely see it being a hot spot on summer evenings. The ice cream was fresh and good, the serving size was ample, and the workers were pleasant. I also follow Chubby's on Facebook and they seem to have a fair number of family-oriented events there throughout the summer -- their Facebook page is a great way to stay informed of what's coming up!

My visit was back in November. The ice cream was great and the manager/owner was so nice. There was a hair in my niece's sprinkles and he gave our whole party of 8 ice cream for free. Great business. I would go back again!

The staff here are extremely helpful and polite. Good selection and toppings of hand dipped ice cream. Would recommend if you're in the area to enjoy some ice cream on a picnic table right outside.

Very, very good local business. We go often. They are pretty involved in the community which we really like. The prices are kinda high, but the product is pretty darn good.

Here's the scoop, and I'm going to have to be short, because my ice cream is going to either melt, or all get given away before I can order my share. The ice cream at Chubby's is definitely superior to most. I just tried Maggie's Brownie Sunday here and it was delicious. I'm raving about this little place. Get there quick and it's the best decision you'll make today!

Terrific ice cream and service. They just start making home made water ice and that is yummy too.

Stopped by Chubby's on one of those hot Saturday afternoons that just scream for ice cream. Satisfied the craving with Peach. Ice Cream was creamy with chunks of peaches in it. Did not taste artificial at all. Just a bite of summer in your mouth. Can't wait to try more.

Great staff, local business, and best of all amazing ice cream! Went tonight for the first time and I'll never go anywhere else. The dulce de leche was amazing and the double chocolate the kids had had to be finished by me! I also noticed while I was there a little league baseball team came in and the owner asked all of them how their game went. This is the quintessential little ice cream place so if you haven't tried it GO bc you will not be let down. Keep up the great work guys!

Delicious ice cream with great flavors. Try the sticky bun ice cream- incredible. And the pretzel and chocolate chip cones have to be tasted to be believed.

Had a great time with our daughter at Chubbys dairy barn. They had a girl dressed as a Disney character come and read stories and take pictures with all the kids. The ice cream is very good also. Good times with the family.

We come to Chubby's for ice cream almost every weekend. My favs are Vanilla Peanut Butter Swirl and Moose Legs (both choco and vanilla). And we've purchased bulk ice cream as well - notable favorites are Pistachio and Minister of Defense!

Awesome hand-dipped, locally owned ice cream shop. This it the kind of business you want to support - great product (my fave is the chocolate moose trails), great service, and they go out of their way to support the community. Frequent "celebrity scoop" nights which support local schools and other community groups. There's a large parking lot (pull in at the Plumsteadville Inn and you'll see the building on the right), picnic benches, even a water dish to let your pooch get refreshed too. And monthly cruise nights (right now I think it's the first Monday of the month) where antique cars convene and you can wander around the lot while enjoying your ice cream.
