#248 The employees here are particularly upbeat and friendly and really know how to kick-start your mornings. The downside of its fortuitous location is the fact that this place is rarely not packed. On my morning commutes to the 15th St. SEPTA stop and back, I can always spot at least 5-8 people patiently waiting in line for their caffeine fix of the day. Regardless, they fix a mean caramel macchiato and they never skimp on their servings (like so many other locations out there). This place is definitely not my go-to location, but if I happen to be walking in its direction and crave some coffee, I'll have no qualms with dropping in.

Alright so Starbucks is usually Starbucks in my book. Went in here after lunch, got through the line quick with friendly service. Coffee was hot, and they have coconut milk here. Things seemed business as usual and what you would expect walking into a Starbucks. Remember: if you have the Starbucks app, open it while your in line to make sure your signed in and not when you get to the register (like I did #fail).

I am a Starbucks addict and have a quad venti toffee nut soy latte every day at my local store in Ardmore. But when I am in center city on Saturdays to drop off my daughter at ballet, I get my fix at this Walnut Street location with my toddler before we head to the Barnes & Noble. I've probably been to this location thirty times, at least. It has never been a favorite location, given that it's often difficult to find parking (no fault of Starbucks, of course), but mostly because it's just kinda gross inside, and the seating is really awkward. Over the past year or so, they've played around with the seating arrangement (and lamentably got rid of two chaise lounges), but there doesn't seem to be a permanent way to arrange the tables so that people aren't blasted with cold air every time one of the two doors is opened. But, even the odd seating and grody interior aren't enough to turn me off from returning. My visit last week, however, may have been: I ordered my drink and went to find a table with my toddler. A few minutes later I returned to the waiting area and saw what I thought might be my drink, but the woman who was in line after me had ordered several drinks, and she picked it up and added it to her collection. Then the barista called out some drink that wasn't mine, and the woman realized she had taken the wrong drink--mine--and apologized. Since she had already added sugar to the drink, she couldn't just give it me. Instead of the barista apologizing for the mix up, he mumbled "That's why you shouldn't walk away." Yes, he was talking to me, but he wasn't talking to me. He was bitching about me. If I hadn't had my toddler with me, I would have let him have it. But I held my tongue, and he he sighed as he started to remake my drink. As I watched him, I noticed that he made it with nonfat milk, not soy as I had ordered. But I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be presumptive; maybe he was making someone else's drink. But then he finished the drink and handed it to me, and I asked, "I'm sorry, does this have soy?" "No, I didn't think it had soy" he said. Yes, sorry, it does. Yup, he had to remake it AGAIN. And was he once remiss, apologetic or sorry? No, he was annoyed. I'm usually the first to give people credit when it's due, but this was probably the WORST barista I'd ever encountered. Not because he was incompetent, but because he was a jerk. Even if I had been a high-maintenance, hard-to-please, wrong customer, he should have put on a happy face, apologized for mixing up the drinks the first time, then apologized again for making my drink wrong the second time. And, he should have given me a free drink coupon. By the time I finally got my correct drink, it had been 20 minutes since I had ordered. In most other Starbucks stores, the barista would have profusely apologized (and offered me a coupon). But nope, only in center city is Starbucks' customer service nonexistent.

OK, OK it's Starbucks! But on that note, this location very efficient, clean & fast!! It was extremely Brick outside, so running into the city Sunday I stopped to get a skinny macchiatio-& it delivered. Yummmmm. The employees were quick, sits on corner, & like this one.

If I could give this place 10, I would. I walk past 2 Starbucks just to go to this one. Great staff, great service, fast, reliable. Wish all Starbucks (especially NY) were like this one.

If you want to be perpetually late for work every single day, go to this Starbucks. While I have never had any issues with the attitude of the staff, this location just can't seem to operate like the well-oiled machine that other Philadelphia Starbucks pull off without barely breaking a sweat. Regardless of the time of day that I enter this Starbucks to satiate my craving for "fast food coffee," every visit seems like this location's rush hour. When I finally take my place in the long line that snakes through the front of the store... AFTER I walk through the gaggle of angry, caffeine-deprived patrons who seem to have been waiting for their drinks for longer than what it would take to go to South America and harvest the beans themselves, my order is taken by a 'bucks employee. That employee's sole purpose is to play a game of "telephone" with the cashier and the barista. By the time my order makes its way down to the barista, it is so jumbled that it is wrong at least half of the time. To make up for this, I have received more "one free drink, courtesy of us" cards from this location than I have from any other coffee establishment in the city. While I applaud their efforts to make up for their lack of communication, I just wish that I could go here and not only purchase a properly-made beverage, but also make it to work on time without having to practically spend my entire morning shift waiting on my iced soy vanilla latte.

I have had reasonably good experiences at Starbucks in a dozen cities. They are usually quick enough, friendly enough, easy enough and serve decent enough coffee. It is what it is, anywhere you find a Starbucks. This location is so terrible in almost every way that I walk three blocks away to go to a different Starbucks. The service is rude, nasty, disorganized, disinterested and clueless. Homeless people are permanently camped out near the entrances bothering customers for spare change. I am frequently given the wrong coffee drinks and made to feel as if I am bothering the staff when I show my receipt in order to get what I paid for. The food displays are a mess and the restroom is beneath basic human standards of cleanliness. Oh, yeah, and this location is constantly understaffed during the busiest parts of the day and overstaffed at the slowest by personnel standing around chatting aimlessly. Have I mentioned how rude and impolite and classless the service is? Yeah. Fix it.

This Starbucks location is usually crowded and the crowds usually mean you're in for a long wait, unfortunately. The drinks come out a little bit more slowly here, and it's tough to get a table. The layout works well, but the place is small, so there's not a lot of seating. What I can say, though, is that I am usually waited on with a smile and a nice "how are you today" which makes the waiting suck a little less. Nice staff, long waits adds up to an A-OK in my book.

Yes, I hate to admit it but these baristas here- Sure know my order by now. Living from 1600 Walnut to S. Philly, I still come back every night to order my Paleo Version'd Coffee Black with a Stick of Butter. They get it right every time. Why wouldn't they? Many people look at me like I'm nuts but this Starbucks makes me feel at home. My location at best! Great workers, in fact I'm friends with a few now! Drinks expensive? No way. Same price as DD. I'm such a fan of this Starbucks!!

Went to this location three days in a row, and the barista knew my order by the third day. And almost everyone else's in the (very long) line. Very busy location in the mornings, but understandably so. Its prime location and delightful service make the delicious coffee served there seem even better.

A good place to hop to for a coffee fix when I'm at work. I also love their couch, perfect to do a little or a lot of work on the laptop.
