As far as corned beef specials go, this place is tops. The meat was thinly sliced but plentiful, cole slaw in the middle so as not to sog my bread (genius), marbled rye toasted to perfection, I was VERY happy with this sandwich, and also the price! A bright spot in my day. I also got to try the Drexel with pastrami, turkey, corned beef, cole slaw and thousand island on a long roll, again, pretty much sandwich perfection. My husband promised the owners I would Yelp after I had the sandwiches so here you are fellas, wonderful job!

Great place for sandwich and hoagies for the Drexel population. I love the University Hoagie. The hoagie had roast beef, turkey, lettuce, tomato, cole slaw, and russian dressing. I love my russian dressing for sure! The hoagies are large so save it for dinner as well. My UH costed $8 approx. Not a bad price. This place is an owner-operated place by two honest indians. I think that they are a married couple. I'd rather spend my money's worth at a local deli than a chain. They also have a sitting area to eat and next door there's a cafe. Not too shabby.

Stan's has really fresh, good-quality food at a fair price. It's also the best deli-style sandwich you're going to get in the Drexel area. They have quasi-Jewish style sandwiches and a variety of hoagies. I personally order a cheese hoagie with some veg on top, which I think is about $7 (but it's two meals-worth for me). They also have surprisingly good milk shakes, for anyone who has the need to eat dessert after every meal (or during the meal in this case). They close pretty early, but it's possibly because they can't compete with the nearby pizza shops. Also, it makes them seem more like an authentic deli :) P.S. Just in local comparison, this place is better than the Nosh on Market St, Abner's, or any of the other sandwichy places that I can think of in the area.

Good quality meats and they actually have marble rye. Perfect for a displaced Jewish kid that wants to nosh.

I'm glad I finally decided to go to Stan's. I had doubts, but they were soon cured after one sandwich from their delicious deli. It's a small place, so you're better off ordering and leaving. The sandwiches are quite large, so be prepared to eat a lot (or save it for later). The two guys behind the counter are courteous and get your sandwich made just the way you want it in a short amount of time. I've had a lot of experiences with deli's, and this one has been quite memorable.

'The Drexel' is incredible. Very nice people and they make their sandwiches with care. A little expensive but totally worth it every now and then!! Great cookies too & endless beverages.

Stan's Deli in Powelton Village is undoubtedly one of Philadelphia's best delis. It's been around since 1922 so it has had a lot of years to get good. And it's sandwiches are top of the line. The most famous sandwich is a large concoction called the Stanwich with corned beef, pastrami, and melted American cheese. But don't forget the hoagies here. I don't. I love them. The hot ham hoagie is a particular favorite but you have about 25 choices for your hoagie so you'll almost certainly find the exact one you're hungering for. See my photos for a pic of the glorious Philly hoagie. Stan's Deli is well-located for both Penn & Drexel students and the Science Center workers. The people running it are so friendly. Try one hoagie or sandwich and I think you'll def return for more!

The sandwiches at this place are flawless. The owners are some of the kindest people I've ever encountered. They've given me free drinks or free snacks on a whim and they're always willing to engage in polite conversation while they prepare your food. Another reviewer stated that the restaurant is dead inside and while you can zone out into a TV, you have a large window front, and polite people to talk to. If you really need a TV screen to look at for the 5-10 minutes that you may be in the store, that's a personal issue. Anyway, the meat, veggies, and bread always taste fresh. The sauces are on point, especially the Russian dressing. And the wife (the woman usually at the counter) is very proud of her chicken salad so please go in and say that you've heard about it and want to try it. You won't be disappointed, she has reason to be proud. Enjoy!

Great sandwiches! They are quick, efficient, and convenient. They are always busy during lunch hours. Only complaint is that their store hours can be quite sporadic at times.

Stan's deli has some of the most badass sandwiches I've ever had. They pack a lot into it, it's slightly cheaper than subway, but you know you are getting more and fresher ingredients. Highly recommend it and the owners are nice people too. You can sample the meats there as well, tons of variety

This place is hands down the best hoagie joint in town! The meat is fresh the cheese is always full of flavor and the bread is soft and fresh! I have never been disappointed at this place and I can guarantee that u will not be disappointed either! This place is not open in the evening but it's great for lunch! All I can say is u can't go wrong here at Stan's deli!!

stopped by here on a whim. this place is pretty small and extremely quiet. no tv, no music, nada. makes for a very awkward feeling in my opinion. the place just has no life at all. one thing i noticed and didnt like at all was the refrigerated case where the meats were was practically empty and the glass was very foggy as though it hadnt been cleaned in a long time. if you run a deli you'd think one would keep the case full and sparkling clean to showcase the variety of meats, cheeses, etc. not the case here. i ordered "the penn" which is spiced beef, honey turkey, spicy turkey, hot pepper cheese, Russian dressing, lettuce, tomato and onions. it wasnt a very pretty sandwich at all and it didnt have as much flavor as expected. the reviews made me try this place before koch's deli. maybe i went on a bad day. idk. i probably wont be returning.

This is the best place in West Philly to get an authentic sandwhich. They slice the lunch meat in front of your face and everything is so delicious. Make sure you call ahead for your order because it gets crowded very quickly. Parking is horrible so best to call in tour order.

I usually don't write reviews, but this place is hands-down the best deli in Philadelphia. Much better than Koch's and much cheaper. The corned beef and especially the brisket of beef sandwiches are to die for. They give you a lot of meat in them. Also tasty for some reason are their pickles. Maybe it's the way they slice them. They go perfectly with one of their sandwiches and/or hoagies.

Ate a delicious tuna salad sandwich here today for lunch! There was so much tuna it was a challenge to eat without a fork. I will definitely be frequenting this place! With a drink and chips my total was under 10 dollars! I brought half of my sandwich home to eat later. The staff and atmosphere is very friendly. I have walked by this place many times and I have noticed it is a favorite of some of the doctors and nurses that work at the nearby hospital!! Do yourself a favor and check it out!

I have frequented Stan's for the last 5 years and have never been disappointed. With excellent quality meats, cheeses and bread, this place can compete with any deli in Philadelphia. The family who owns this place are hard-working, nice people who offer generous sized sandwiches at a very good price. The Powelton and the Penn are in my opinion the two best sandwiches that Stan's has to offer, but you really can't go wrong here!

One of the better Italian hoagies I've had in Philadelphia. The service can be a little slow, but only because all of the meats and cheeses are sliced fresh to order. Prices are great, a full hoagie with chips and drink is usually around 10 dollars. While I usually stick to the Italian, I haven't been disappointed with any of the other sandwiches I have ordered. One star short only because the hours are unpredictable, and it is only open for lunch.
