To be fair- I haven't had any of their products, but I will surely be giving them my business in the near future. I'm so grateful to the people who were working, and want to give them credit for amazing service. I stopped in while I was running in the excessive heat and asked for a cup of water. When they couldn't find ice cubes to make sure the water was cold, they gave me a bottle although I didn't have my wallet with me. Thanks for the kindness! I'll be back soon!

The ice cream is delicious. My company used to get ice cream cakes for birthdays from the old location, and they've ruined me for other ice cream cakes. But. The service is painfully slow. Scoop Deville is on GrubHub and does delivery, which is great in theory because who wouldn't want ice cream delivered to their door? The problem is when you staff only two people behind the counter and one is tasked exclusively to delivery orders because there are so many delivery orders. That means one person is taking orders for walk-ins. So if anyone in your group, or the group ahead of you, orders anything other than a scoop of ice cream in a cup, you're going to be there awhile. Make sure your cell phone is charged or bring a book. Hopefully they will expand their staff sometime. And spruce up the place with some lighting and more tables because currently it just doesn't feel inviting.

I don't know what happened to the old review i posted, but here it is again with some new stuff. Scoop DeVille is back and even better:) Neater menu. Same amazing ice cream. Same millions of toppings to satisfy my ever changing tastes. And a lot of different combos and recommendations I would never think of! And they are open late now and even deliver. Their crazy oreo, peanut butter, etc. dream combo is amazing!!! Chocolate salted caramel combo is great as well. Strawberry shortcake was wow. Milkshakes are delicious. Their fat free ice cream tastes the same as the regular ice cream. Surprisingly, it is just as stiff as well which I like. The staff is always super friendly and they always have good suggestions. One time, they suggested I put cereal in my mix to give it a crunch and it worked out so well! Definitely will keep coming back :)

Scoop Deville is a cute place to stop by after dinner in center city. If you like your milkshakes or ice cream blends, you can choose from the popular mixes or create your own! My friends and I shared a medium cup of "The Charlie Brown," made with vanilla ice cream base which was blended with peppermint patties, nutella and chocolate chip cookie dough. Then, hot fudge to top it all off. We really liked the combination of all the ingredients, they complimented each other really well. Essentially, it was a cup full of sugar...definitely a treat! Be prepared, one cup is plenty and super sweet. If I wasn't sharing it between 3 other girls, there was no way I would have finished one by myself! It's a little pricey for what you get, but it was worth trying something new. The interior is very pink and blue, a cute way that exemplifies an ice-cream shop! The service was kind of slow, but at least they were friendly!

This place has an odd interior, I'm not a big fan. Just not a lot of light and feels a bit too industrial for my taste. But, I'm there for the ice cream. It was excellent. I got the vanilla with caramel and toasted cocunut. What an incredible product. The vanilla ice cream impressively straddles soft serve and scoop. Giving it a very nice texture. Still not as good as true creamy fluffy soft serve. But very nice nonetheless. The caramel they use is perfectly sweet and just a bit salty. Perfect. The smoothness of both the ice cream and the caramel was very nicely juxtaposed by the small crispy bits of toasted coconut. Go there and get this now. Price warning: For what amounted to about 1.5 scoops of ice cream, I paid almost $6. This is too much for what you get. Thus I give it 4/5 stars.

Meh it was ok. On such a hot day I was surprised it was empty. They have a big selection of chocolate ( not my thing) and sugar free confections.

The best thing about Scoop Deville (besides the amazing name) is the tremendous variety of toppings and mix Ins that they have available. There is nothing that you would want to put on ice cream (and a couple things you probably wouldn't) that they don't have. You start with your basic hard ice cream flavors and then mix in your choice of toppings - 3 are included, but you can add extras for 75 cents each if you really need that much extra sugary stuff. Then they put it through this magic mixie thing and - poof - all the toppings are mixed together. This is a little different than Cold Stone or DQ because they use very fine grind toppings. It is hard to tell what each topping is when it is done. The finished product was fine, but nowhere near the best ice cream or creation I have had - I prefer richer ice cream and mix-ins where I can differentiate each flavor. . Where Scoop Deville really falls short is in the comfort. The place is REALLY dark - like when half the bulbs are burned out in your kitchen, but you still try to cook dinner. There is very limited seating even though it seems like there is room for more - I realize I came on a 25 degree day and other reviews have commented on the long lines so maybe I just don't get it. I think the space could be amazing - the ceiling is beautiful - but just does not seem like this joint is taking full advantage of what it could be.

This is my favorite ice cream place in Philly (franklin fountain is a close second) I have never been disappointed with anything I've created or ordered here. The mudslide is the best if you like coffee/chocolate/peanut butter. The amount of options are overwhelming so ask the employees they always have great ideas. Sometimes I eat less dinner so I have extra room for scoop de ville.

  • Jane P.

Love this place! I always get vanilla with extra sugar cookie dough! Yum! Kids will love it with the gazillion options they can make with the soft serves (many which are probably gross to adults but make a kids day) but so much for adults to devour too! My only dilemma with this place is that they tend to clean up early and although the past time I went they served me with a smile. There have been times where it seemed like it was a hardship that they had to get up from conversations with their coworkers to help the customers and took forever to make each item. Some customer service and efficiency training may help here! I wish their delivery fee was cheaper too!

  • Rachel S.

If you're going just for the ice cream, then 5 stars. If you're going for anything else, well...don't. The delivery took an hour and a half, and it was a Monday evening. When it arrived, the ice cream was great, but the piece of chocolate cake was overdone and dry and the frosting tasted like crisco. Plus, we only received 2 of the cookies we actually ordered. The other 2 cookies were literally burnt. ..like black and hard as a rock burnt. So in summary, ice cream = fantastic...just stick to that.

This is a somewhat new ice cream shop at the bottom of the Philadelphia Building. As hubby works in the Philadelphia Building, I often find myself at Scoop Deville while stopping by. They have an enormous topping selection and make their own soft-serve concoctions using the toppings of your choice. It's basically like a 'blizzard' but in a soft serve machine. My partner is crime absolutely loves this and makes crazy flavors to put in his cone. I'm more of a plain Jane and stick with vanilla or chocolate ice cream with sprinkles (or jimmies, as you fine Philadelphians call them). So their flavor and topping selection is great but yet the place always seems to be empty. I blame this on their location at the bottom of an office building. That block of Walnut St. is particularly saturated with frozen yogurt places as well. I hope that you all visit Scoop Deville and give it a chance. They have good ice cream and I'd like to see them stick around. Side note: peanut butter cookie crunch is to die for!

    (4)
  • Kevin O.

Was welcomed by the owner upon walking in. Handed a very extensive menu of options with recommendations. Ice cream is made in a very cool blizzard type of machine. You can choose one base ice cream and up to three additions. Ice cream was very good. They also have a rewards program! Will definitely be stopping back!

Just attended an awesome wedding in Philly! Dessert was not only wedding cake but also individual jars of Scoop De Ville ice cream. It was delicious, unique and gone in a flash! Great idea. Great ice cream. Love this place!

Literally a dream - crazy number of ice cream flavors to begin with, and then you can add in any of their dozens of toppings. Not add-in like Coldstone, I mean literally blended into your ice cream to create a new flavor. They actually have 5-6 FLAVORS of cookie dough. Like woah. This time, I got butterscotch vanilla ice cream with Nutella and PB cups blended in, and peanut butter cookie dough on top. And yes, he even let me lick the Nutella spoon . It was heavenly obvi. They can make milkshakes and sundaes too with any of their huge selection of toppings (the usual candy and sprinkles, plus cookies, all kinds of cookie dough, granola, sea salt, protein powder, bacon bits....you name it, they have it). No pricier than your average ice cream place, but 1000x better. This place is my favorite!!

I liked Scoop Deville. The store is really nice and gives off an old time vibe I love. From an architectural element, the ceiling is amazing. The store is wide open and bright. I shared the Jolt with my daughter. This is Coffee ice cream mixed with coffee powder and chocolate covered espresso beans. They mix it all together and it is almost a soft serve consistency. I liked that too. The Jolt did the job and we had a sufficient caffeine and sugar buzz to continue on with our chores. The medium was $6.00 and easily enough for two people. Nice place.

I was in Philadelphia for the day and I wanted to get some frozen yogurt. I came across scoop deville on yelp and gave it a shot. My favorite type of frozen yogurt is the kind that they blend whatever mix ins you want into your yogurt. Scoop deville specializes in this so I knew I would love it. They had a menu with many different mix ins including lots of cookie doughs. They also had a bogo free deal going on which was perfect because we got to try two different mixes. I chose to create my own and got one medium vanilla frozen yogurt mixed with Oreo cookie dough, peanut butter cookie dough and chocolate chip cookies. The medium had two decent scoops of vanilla frozen yogurt (hard yogurt) and the employee blended them in a machine similar to what Dairy Queen uses for their blizzards. The employee was very knowledgable. I told her I was worried about it coming out watery and she assured me that it wouldn't as long as I don't get peanut butter mixed in. My concoction was absolutely fantastic. My free one was a medium vanilla frozen yogurt mixed with sugar cookie dough, baked birthday cake and white chocolate. I thought the first one was amazing but this one topped it. It was the best frozen yogurt I have tasted in my life! This mix was genius and the flavors all went together amazingly. I especially loved the crunch the white chocolate added. I cannot wait to return to Philadelphia in the future to try more of their frozen yogurt mixes. It was honestly the best frozen yogurt of my life and I eat frozen yogurt daily.

Oh. My. Lordy!! This place is so delicious. Went in for milkshakes so good! I know milkshakes are pretty basic but whatever ice cream they use-it was just so Flavorful. And the decor and atmosphere of the place cute too!!

On a visit to Philadelphia we stopped by to get Deseret. They had a special on their scoop devil. It was buy one get the second one free. It was the best $6.48 that I've spent for a long time. We got hard yogurt with mix ins of Orio cookie dough baked birthday cake for one and soft serve with birthday cake and white chocolate for the second one. Even though the yogurt had mix ins in them they stayed hard to the last spoon and was enjoyable to the last second. Now I'm going to want to come back to this city just for this delicious dessert. I have to say this was absolutely

Love how they have frozen yogurt options. I got vanilla with cookie dough and what really impresses me Is how they mix the topping together with the yogurt like a blizzard. Fantastic taste and I appreciate the many selections of toppings offered. There is enough to choose from to please my entire family.

This is, hands down, my favorite ice cream place in Philly. My boyfriend and I wandered in for a rainy day BOGO special, & we've been hooked ever since. (Really, I think we've logged a good 30 orders from this place in the 6mo we've lived here.) Sarah's Amore is my favorite, Abbey Road is a close second. The staff is incredibly friendly & they always have a fun bunch of specials (i.e. the Heisenberg, topped with blue rock candy.) You've got to check them out.

  • Amara M.

I went here such a long time ago. It's such a hipster joint, it's insane. Fun interior. I wasn't really impressed by their ice cream. Everything tasted mediocre and I kind of hated that they blend your ice cream all together. I didn't expect the girl to do that the first time I went. It threw me off completely. I was kind of bummed because I was excited to actually eat all of the toppings I chose. So much for that!

  • Mike L.

Your spoons are so flimsy I can't even eat my ice cream... For a high quality ice cream place you'd think that functional utensils would be an essential?

    (1)
  • Lenny Z.

Nom nom nom. Ice cream is the true food of the gods. I was seriously full after a big meal at El Vez, a quality Mexican restaurant. But since it was a birthday dinner, desert was happening. And, to Scoop Deville it was. How I wish I had nothing else in my belly. I could have an ice cream meal. That said, I still had a nice helping of ice cream. They have lots and lots of stuff you can add to your ice cream and have it mixed together. My concoction was delish. If it's not clear, I love love love ice cream. So yeah, I love Scoop Deville.

    (4)
  • Su H.

OMGOSH I love this place. Their rootbeer floats are LEGIT! It's not the syrup rootbeer but they actually pop open a glass bottle of rootbeer and the float could not be more delicious.

  • Mike C.

This is one of my favorite places ever to get dessert. They have one of those way too rarely seen machines that blends the ice cream with mix-ins to create a homogeneous mixture that is almost completely smooth but still has all of the identifiable tastes of the individual ingredients. To give you an example, my favorite is one of the many suggested sundae combos, the PB Cookie Crunch: Cookies & Cream ice cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter and Cap'n Crunch cereal ($5.50 for a small, which is plenty large). This genius combo is even better when completely blended together, as they do here. No need to worry about cutting your gums on that Cap'n Crunch - it is ground up completely, so you still get that great taste, along with all of those other great flavors in a thick, delicious cup of amazingly satisfying ice cream. I can't emphasize enough how much you need to come here. Forget Franklin Fountain and Bassett's - if you can only pick one place to get some frozen goodness for dessert (which is silly though), then you should come here for a really unique experience and some of the best-tasting dessert around.

    (5)
  • Frank D.

Best ice cream I've ever had. You can't go wrong with any of the suggested blends (abbey road and pb cookie crunch are my favorite, but they are all amazing). If you would prefer to make your own, they have about every possible thing you could want to put into it. They even have chocolates and other candy if ice cream isn't your thing (but seriously, get the ice cream). The way they blend the ice cream makes it pretty much like soft serve. So you get the best of both worlds, flavor variety of hard ice cream but soft like soft serve. Staff is super helpful too. I have a few friends who can't eat gluten and they even have gluten free ice cream. Next time you are in the mood for ice cream, this is the place to go. You won't regret it.

I ordered an ice cream cake for my friend's 30th birthday. I asked for it to be delivered to the restaurant since I was worried that the cake wouldn't fit in my freezer. I even called the restaurant to make sure a half sheet of ice cream cake would fit in their freezer. I had two conversations with Scoop Deville and figuring that this is an ice cream shop I would get an ice cream cake. I even said to the woman on the phone that I made sure the restaurant could accommodate an ice cream cake in their freezer. It was delivered on time and the restaurant put it in the freezer. We brought it out to my friend and said "guess what cake it is, it is an ice cream cake, your favorite". Well then she cut into it in front of 25 people and boy did I feel dumb when it was a regular cake. And it was frozen because it was put in the freezer. The cake wasn't even that good and I've had better cakes from Shop Rite. I was annoyed that I spent $59. And two days later I saw the same size cake but made of carvel ice cream at Super Fresh for $29. Don't order a cake here. It is over priced and they'll screw it up.

Product is awesome but their customer service is terrible. 90-minute + delivery times and when you call ... A bunch of excuses about why your order is MIA. Very disappointing to say the least!

    (1)
  • Gabby M.

This place was the worst! The lady was on the phone and made customers wait for at least 5 minutes. Then another employee came in and was super unfriendly. I ordered a milkshake and she didn't even bother to blend the flavoring with the ice cream so I ended up with a crappy milkshake that costed over $5. The ambiance is also awful; really dark and unfinished. Will never go back.

Ronnie (an older woman) was working when my family and I walked in and was very rude and disrespectful. When I was determining what size to get she immediately responded I DO NOT KNOW WHAT A MEDIUM MEANS TO YOU. She was also speaking so cruelly to the other worker and made a scene for no reason. I will not come back for this reason. Ice cream and other items were amazing but service was awful and Ronnie makes this place a 1 star.

When my cousin told me that there was a place that made ice cream into soft serve and you can add any topping you can think of I was like "point me in the direction". We entered the establishment and it was a very big open space with mirrors that had hats, glasses, and mustaches painted on them. As you keep walking you get to the ice cream station and counter. They have a huge list of flavors and toppings to choose from. I chose Mint Chocolate Chip with chocolate pretzels. The mint chocolate chip ice cream wasn't as minty as I would like but was still very tasty and I didn't taste much of the chocolate pretzel because it was broken up so much but it was a really yummy combination. I would definitely come here again and try something different.

  • Tyseti S.

Service was not good. The employees let me know the blender wasn't working as soon as u got to the counter (as if I had been there before. I had no Idea what she was talking about )so I can't mix anything. Is this place not know for mixing? I'm sure they cut it off cause it was almost 10 pm. Then she gives me my ice cream and didn't ask if I wanted topping. Clearly she had more important things to do them to service a customer. And after 10 mins she yells out to me and another group that the store is about to close. I thought they closed at 12 am. I got up and threw the ice cream out. It wasn't that good. And they have better ice cream at Ample Hill in NYC. Won't go back there on my next visit to Philly.

Originally gave 2 stars, edited it to 3 later on. Original review: Meh... It was just ok. I have been Capogiro several times and decided to try Scoop Deville because I was in the area. The place is sort of dim-light in contrast to the bright and colorful walls/interiors. I got the Froyo fruit special - vanilla yogurt with blueberries and strawberries. The yogurt itself was alright but the fruit were taken directly from the freezer.. The pieces of berries were really hard to bite into. I like frozen yogurt places that serve fresh fruit toppings 'really fresh', not frozen and definitely not when they are not thawed at all! Sorry but I have had better and won't be returning here. EDIT: The manager is really nice and responded immediately to my review. Apparently all their blended yogurts use frozen fruit. May be I will just stay away from the fruity ones and order different toppings (chocolate bits/nuts etc) next time.

*New Location* opened on May 24, 2013. Long awaited reopening. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I hope their old loyal customers will flock to the new location. Unfortunately, the new location is not convenient as their previous and it does not get a lot of foot traffic. They are now open later during the week and weekend! There are a few changes to the menu. They have simplified the menu from the previous wall monster for the better. I actually like the new flavor combos they now. I can't wait until the red velvet flavor comes back for the summer!

Cute little ice cream shop that makes for an enjoyable stop while browsing the City. I came here on a hot summer day both times. In fact, the lines can go out the door on weekend evenings. I like the atmosphere and decor of this shop more than the ice cream itself. Just your typical creamy, hard serve ice cream flavors. The distinguishing feature lies mainly in the toppings. You will find yourself overwhelmed by fruits, candy, cookies, nuts, cereals, and syrups. Seating is pretty minimal, unless you come during lunch on a weekday. Not my favorite ice cream shop, but hits the spot. I am more of a Yogorino and Capogiro fan. I have yet to try Franklin Fountain. Notice the Yelp deal though...SWEET!

  • Rizwan A.

This is a decent enough spot to come for ice cream, but it's more enjoyable to actually be here and get the old-school ice cream shop feel than it is to actually eat their ice cream, which is nothing extraordinary or different from any other ice cream place. It's no Franklin Fountain either, but that doesn't mean it won't scratch that ice cream itch if you've got it. With some neat decor, a friendly atmosphere, all the usual suspects for flavors and mix-ins, this place is just like every other ice cream place you've probably already forgotten about. No complaints, I'll be back, occasionally.

No better chilly break on a humid day than Philly's Scoop Deville. Amidst the long list of extraordinary ice cream choices and toppings, we see that the popular flavor Birthday Cake ice cream is back! No matter the season or day of the week, Scoop Deville is the best mood enhancer for all ages. Even the architecture is "sweet."

    (5)
  • Robert M.

I had the pumpkin pie seasonal blend. It was absolutely disgusting. The texture was awful, there was no ice cream flavors to distinguish from the rest of the ingredients. Massively overpriced for something that I wouldn't have even had it been a free sample. From now on I will only go to Capogiro which is always excellent, and it is only a block from this overpriced place.

  • Felicia C.

I recently ate here for the first time. I got chocolate ice cream with brownie pieces, Reese's cups, and hot fudge mixed in. To die for. And they give you reward points that are good for free chocolate, ice cream, and pies!

  • Annie F.

Amazing! I had vanilla frozen yogurt with strawberries and chocolate covered pretzels. With everything blended together, it was on point. I will say that the system of taking one order and then disappearing to make it isn't the best. A couple in front of us left because they waited too long. It might be better to acknowledge the people waiting and maybe take their order, let them know it'll be a few minutes, and multitask while making the different stuff. Hey I'm no ice cream expert. We didn't mind waiting but some people do I guess.

Came here with a few friends a few weeks ago. There are a ton of choices for ice cream and additions. For the price I received a ton of ice cream and with the toppings blended throughout. A great place to stop by for ice cream with friends.

  • Roopa S.

Probably my absolute favorite ice cream shop in the area. This is THE place to get tricked out ice cream! With incredible flavors, mix-in options, and toppings, this is honestly the yummiest it gets. I always go for the sweet combo-- a chocolate-y base with nutella and brownie or cookie dough swirled in. What I love about this place is that it isn't just ice cream tossed in the toppings. Everything is BLENDED together to really create a new ice cream experience. Definitely give it a shot. You will be overwhelmed by all of the options but just know that any combination of ingredients will get you some of the best ice cream you would have tried, ever.

I was visiting Philly for the first time with a friend and after a ridiculous traffic jam, waiting in the cold for a friend to pick us up, being turned away for dinner, and not being able to hail a cab, we decided to get ice cream instead to cheer ourselves up. With a Yelp checkin, you get two free blends with the purchase of an 8oz Sedan. I ordered the vanilla fudge ice cream with espresso beans and fudge brownies. It was pretty damn amazing and a great pick-me-up. It's a cute place and the staff was super helpful and friendly. Tons of other sweets available too. When we were done eating, I turned to my friends and said that coming here was the highlight of my day and was the happiest experience I'd had in Philadelphia (which at the time was true). Then one of my friends pointed out a sign hanging against the window that said the following: Our Mission: Enter :( Leave :)

I had their mint chocolate chip shake and loved it. The most recent visit however, I decided to get a custom blended ice cream. HUGE MISTAKE. I ordered cookie dough ice cream with strawberries and reese's peanut butter cups. When they blend it, everything becomes pulverized. I ended up with strawberry ice cream with slivers of what used to be peanut butter cups, and no sign of cookie dough whatsoever. Next time, Ill ask for it not to be blended.

YUM! I came in when a coworker told me about this place and was immediately overwhelmed by how many choices I had. I went with an extremely random mix of all the things that sounded good without any thought as to how they'd mix... mint oreo, peanut butter chips, strawberries, birthday cake, twinkie, cookie dough, plus marshmallow fluff on top... it sounds terrible... and yet it was amazing. I got a large and brought half of it home and ate it before it hit the freezer. Plus I bought a bunch of the chocolates and can't wait to try them. Will definitely be back to this place soon!

scoop deville, its just the name and location that attracted me into the store. i cant say its the best ice cream i've had, its average. price I paid, i would of been much happier and better off going to wawa and get a pints of ben and jerry.

My coworkers and I just ordered their Fantasy Football special which is 4 milkshakes and 6 soft pretzels. We waited well over an hour and the delivery guy was really bizarre. Made a point of talking about how much ice cream we ordered over and over. Counted the tip I had given him in front of us then wanted us to switch out his small bills for larger ones. Didn't ask, was just sort of assuming but he didn't have enough small bills to trade in...so I felt like he was wanting a larger tip. Once he left, we noticed that the soft pretzels were super tiny and not salted. They were microwaved frozen pretzels you'd get at a convenience store. They gave us a TON of mustard which had spilled out all over everything and nothing to drink/eat our milkshakes with. The milkshakes were fun but nothing worth talking about. So that was..great. Overall, we're feeling massively ripped off and still kind of hungry. Unrelatedly, a camel killed two people today. Bummer city.

It's like a coldstone, in a way that you can combine all different toppings on your ice cream, except the ice cream doesn't stay super hard. The decor is colorful and I love the vintage candies they still sell that brings me back to my childhood. I haven't tried a lot on the menu so I'm partially biased in this review. I saw Mom's PB&J on the menu and have been hooked on it. I don't want to choose any other blends.. My guilty challenge for the summer: to try all the suggested blends on their menu! (hey no one said i'll eat the entire serving)

Following a tasty albeit awkward dinner at Simply Shabu, it was necessary to get some ice cream to neutralize the pallet. I've passed Scoop Deville plenty of times on my walk home from work and since it was a nice night boo, my mother and I decided we'd take the walk over from Chinatown. We walked to the back of the shop where the magic happens to learn a little about how it all goes down. There's an abundance of flavor a and toppings however instead of traditional sundaes they mix everything up sort of like a high end Blizzard. Boo ordered a hot fudge sundae mixed, it was very good. Mom ordered a cup of coffee ice cream with a little hot judge on top (which they didn't charge us for). I on the other hand (inspired by an episode of bizarre foods I watched earlier in the day where Andrew had a piece of sauerkraut pie custard pie) ordered the Country Breakfast. A mixed up sundae of butter pecan ice cream, maple syrup, and bacon bits topped Golden Grahams. I can't believe I'm going to type this but it actually had.... too much bacon. I know I know I'm sorry but it was AS salty as it was sweet and they kind of messes up the dynamic of the salty / sweet dynamic at least as it pertains to ice cream. The bites I had with just a little bacon were very good and the issue may have been a mixing issue but this was my first time there. Service was fantastic and the young ladies accompanying me enjoyed their orders so I'll certainly be back to go the more traditional route.

Mediocre at best. I got vanilla blended with strawberry, blueberry and whipped cream on top. It was tasty, but unfortunately it was not blended thoroughly, only the top half was blended and the bottom half was just plain vanilla. The service was slow, don't understand why one person took my order, another person made my ice cream, and another person rung me up, best part is they don't communicate with each other. I bought the yelp deal 11 bucks for 5, and upon paying the person ringing me up looked at me like I was crazy because she's never seen a yelp deal before.

Hands down my favorite ice cream place! I love the very large selection of toppings and that they blend them into hard ice cream. The place is adorable and also has candy and other sweet treats. I try to go here everytime I'm in center city and have never been disappointed!

This is probably the best ice cream I have had in a while!! First impression: The interior of the shop is so cute! Very pink and ice cream parlor like, with tons of candy everywhere. The menu was pretty overwhelming at first, so it took me a few minutes to decide on what to order. I eventually settled on a vanilla ice cream base with bananas, nutella, and chocolate brownie pieces. It cost me $5.00 for the smallest size (but even the smallest size is already very generous). When I took my first bite, I'm pretty sure I died in ice cream heaven because it was sooo good. I wish I didn't live on the other side of the country so that I could come more often!

Recently moved to a bigger location that's pretty fantastic. All the same great flavors as the old place. My favorite is peanut butter and chocolate frozen yogurt with pretzels. But you should go there and find your own. they also make some pretty killer milkshakes and chocolate. Hooray for Scoop DeVille! Long may she rule.

I was craving ice cream and this place was open later than most, so we wound up here. I am glad we stumbled upon it! The ice cream was delicious. The employees were really friendly. I had a banana split that was phenomenal! It was a very generous serving for the price. I got to choose all my ice cream flavors and toppings. There were soooooo many toppings to choose from. I'll be heading back here next time a craving strikes.

Best ice cream place in the city!! Options are endless. Had the Oreo mudslide and the smores combo. Both were mouth watering! Essentially they blend all the ingredients you want into one and then add toppings. Plenty of seating and the cutest decorations and set up. Definately recommend.

I used to like Scoop DeVille circa 2004-5ish. Since they moved to a new location, I decided to check them out again. All I can say is, I'm really disappointed.... This week, I tried delivery and ordered the "Charlie Brown", which is supposed to be "Vanilla ice cream or yogurt, blended with peppermint patties, Nutella®, and chocolate chip cookie dough. Topped with hot fudge." However, what I got was 3/4 of a small container with vanilla ice cream, a small layer of nutella ice cream on top of that, and a layer of hot fudge on the very top. There were absolutely no chunks of anything in it, so I assume any peppermint patty or cookie dough was intractable due to over blending. The ice cream was also very soupy, so I felt like I was essentially getting a very small nutella / vanilla milk shake. This soupiness was not unique to delivery, however. The same thing happened when I stopped into the store recently as well. Oh...and did I mention delivery took about 2 hours AND there was nothing special about the delivery despite the $4 delivery fee. I assumed they might have insulated devices to keep the ice cream cold like the premium delivery service does, but all I got was a paltry-brown-paper bag....There's really no reason to go here again with so many better options in Philly. Sorry - I'll miss you Scoop DeVille! You were once great.

Service is fast. Location is great and the ice cream is awesome. Crazy toppings, literally 100's of them. I usually keep it simple and order off menu. I get the moose tracks. It's loaded with a bunch of good un healthy stuff and my fat ass loves this place. Keep up the good work.

The icecream is bangin! Every topping you can think of and more. But customer service is lacking :( very unprofessional. I heard to many personal conversations and we were not greeted or felt appreciated for our business. Atmosphere was cold.

Great service!! Awesome menu. We had a pecan ice cream float and it was surprisingly excellent! I can't wait to try out the other options and especially the ice cream cake. The atmosphere has a very cool vibe for an ice cream shop.

While attending college in Philly, Scoop Deville was always a summer staple. After five years away, I was glad to see the ice cream institution was still around, albeit in a brand new (and improved) location on 13th and Walnut. The staff was super friendly, the new space was bright and welcoming, and, most importantly, the ice cream was delicious as always. As someone who is overwhelmed by too many options, I was delighted to see a more curated menu with 15 delicious blends....and for the more adventurous, there are still the create-your-own blends as well as the customer blend of the week (strawberry bacon cheesecake while I was there!). If you're looking for a treat while in Center City, this is definitely the place to go!

  • Steve M.

I had the moose munchies and it was quite a nice blend. They have lots to choose from and all the toppings you could need. It was rather pricey compared to locations nearby, especially when juxtaposing the quality. Also tried the Abbey Road which was definitely the way to go.

I'm having a hard time saying Goodbye to summer. I adore fall, but eating ice cream while the leaves are falling just does not have the same appeal. So while the summer is still hanging around, I thought a quick visit here wouldn't hurt. After a disappointing lunch, I went to Scoop de Ville to cheer me up (culinary speaking, of course), and it was the cure that ailed me. You don't go to Scoop de Ville and get a scoop of your regular run of the mill ice cream and go, you go here for your personalized confections, your ice cream blends with the crazy plethora of ingredients Scoop offers - for whatever your heart desires for fixings and toppings, this is the place for it, no time to be timid, now. GO. FOR. IT. My lifelong love affair with Nutella continues so I often try to create a blend using this as base with your standard vanilla ice cream. This time, I chose to add bananas and graham crackers, and BINGO! Nirvana. I was glad to get a medium instead of a small so I could continue with the deliciousness ingestion. Yumville. This place is a solid go-to, when I'm jonesing for a blend of ice cream filled with my particular cravings du jour. Mind you this ice cream blend, often comes out soft serve, so for those who like a more traditional solid ice cream experience, be warned. Otherwise, (pardon the pun), go bananas.

I don't think I've ever actually regretted ordering a hot fudge Sunday in my entire life, nor did I think it was even possible. Apparently, it is. I ordered a Sunday with hot fudge and cookie pieces; what I was handed was a luke warm soup of ice cream and blended cookie. When I say there was no bites of actual cold ice cream in it at all, I'm not being dramatic. The whole thing was a soup. I assumed the cookie pieces would just on top -- it was blended into the soup. Such a waste of money. I went to say something and ironically every employee had something to do and/or didn't have time to come to the counter. Ice cream is a treat and this was not. Thanks but no thanks.

Great and wonderful manager (younger and cute lady) however her 2 minions hurt the business with the lack of courtesy, retail experience, and etiquette. Also I noticed the candy area kind of "stale". Maybe it was by there were random pieces of chocolates that fell. The ice cream itself was pretty tasty, got the blended 1 topping.

  • Christopher D.

They literally have over a thousand different ice cream flavors to chose from. Whether you like soft-serve or hard ice cream, they'll have a flavor for you. The staff was very friendly as well. They had a Yelp deal I used which was awesome. Definitely one of the best ice cream places I've been to in Philly so far.

My fav is the PB cookie crunch it's soooo gooodddd I can't evennn... I was visiting my friend in Philly for the weekend and she was raving about this place and told us we had to go. At first I was confused about the concept of how they make it. I wasn't sure if it was like cold stone or soft serve.. it basically a combination of both. All the amazing flavors and mixes you can get in ice cream but whipped up and super soft. OMG it was amazing. My sister got the Chocolate sea salt caramel one and my friend got the Gimme a Break combo but everyone liked mine the best. So if your looking for one that will blow you away get the PB cookie crunch. Can't wait to go back!

Had Scoop DeVille sometime over the summer and it was really good. I like the concept of it. I tried the Strawberry Shortcake ice cream and liked it. Pretty pricey for ice cream so be prepared to shell out.

Oh Yum. This place is so cute. It reminds me of a 50's-Diner. The menu is scrumptiously delicious. I think my favorite concoction is a raspberry and Nutella sundae. While in line, you can shop around for cute nic-nacs that can't be found elsewhere. Example: a foot-square Rice Krispy Treat. I've always found the customer service to be stellar, too. I've met the owner, Matt, a couple times, and he always aims to please. I will return many more times. Thanks, Scoop De Ville for your mighty awesomeness. :)

  • Rose S.

This place has a ridiculous amount of trendy toppings. Favorites are the sea salt and oatmeal cookie dough. Best when blended into a chocolate milkshake. Not one to comment about the price of something being too expensive, but the quality of their ice cream is not worth $5 (smallest size). If the flavor is bland it doesn't matter how good the toppings are. For milkshake this place exceeds expectations.

Great concept, a little too much though. Came here for a group function the other week. I'm normally a big fan of ice cream / frozen yogurt concoctions, Scoop De Ville is unfortunately just too much. I wanted to try something new and went with their Chelsea's Creme Brûlée, which is a combination of vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt (I went with frozen), fruit of your choice (I went with strawberries), brown sugar, and creme brûlée cordials. I think their process is really cool, putting all the ingredients into a giant spindel and pushing it out into one long string of ice cream goodness. However, my mixture was not that delicious, sickening sweet if anything. The sugar was very gritty and added a weird texture to the dessert. Also, the frozen yogurt tastes exactly like their ice cream, which could be a good or bad thing, depending on the person. I prefer yogurt for its tartness, but if you're looking for a fat-free flavorful alternative, their frozen yogurt is for you. A couple of pluses: the interior reminds me of an adult candy shop. It's very well decorated and the seating inside is a great place to enjoy your creation. Also, their menu is HUGE. Not only do they have an extensive signature selection of combination, they offer tons of other frozen treats, including smoothies, milkshakes, and sorbet. Wasn't a huge fan of my choice, but I think I'm willing to give it another try, with a little closer look at other reviews beforehand. Pros: interior design, menu selection, price ($5 gets you a hefty amount of ice cream), uniqueness Cons: taste, texture combinations

Came here on a dessert tour and overall the experience was not bad. So many different options to choose from. Many of them are very good, some of there creations was not really for me. I tried the bacon pecan ice cream and it tasted more like beef jerky. That was the only bad one I've tried but the other are very good.

  • John M.

The ice cream is good, very creamy and more like soft serve. The mixed in toppings is a cool touch, but either their mixer doesn't work or the employees don't know how to use it, because the toppings only get mixed about halfway down. Lost points for poorly mixed, poorly lit, only one employee working so slow service.

We got an ice cream cake delivered for an office birthday. It was really delicious, definitely a notch above your run of the mill DQ or grocery store ice cream cake. However, having paid the bill on the corporate card...I don't think I would open my wallet (this wide) for an ice cream cake (it was over $40.) But it was really tasty and I plan on returning to sample some ice cream & toppins that all these other yelpers have praised.

Solid ice cream spot. Love the $5 for a small (that's really filling) which includes 1 flavor ice cream or froyo and 3 add in toppings (get to choose from a long list of items). The Yelp deal is great, suggest that you bring in a printed copy, it seems like that's what they prefer.

  • Dennis L.

It's a fun place to go for a classic ice cream. With the recent rash of Froyo locations popping up in center city, there aren't many old fashion ice parlors still holding down base in Philadelphia. Scoop De Ville is one of the last stands of the traditional ice cream shake and mixes and such. Even on a chilly day, there is still a decent line for a low priced frozen treat. The toppings and mixings and flavors are more the traditional ones you'd find in an old school ice cream shop. Nothing new and crazy like at capergiro, but still pretty good. Unfortunately, I'm riding the new wave of flavors and find the traditional things a tad boring. On a side note, they have a display of fold fashion candy. Fruits, nuts, caramels all dipped in chocolate. Dark, milk, white, etc. It's all there. But I don't think anyone really goes here for their candies. Seating is limited, maybe 4 tables and about 8 - 10 chairs? There are also two benches outside.

i walk by this place all the time, but rarely do i venture in. the cheap asian in me tells me i can buy a whole carton of ice cream for the price of a couple of scoops at an ice cream shop. the first time i came here, it wasn't a very memorable experience. hence, i kind of blew this place off. but yesterday i came in to use my livingsocial coupon ($10 for $20 of ice cream/chocolates) that would expire in 3 days, and it was literally the highlight of my week. their ice cream mix-ins menu was really REALLY long. my roomie and i must've stood there for at least 10 minutes gawking over it, trying to figure out how best to spend $20 on ice cream between the two of us. we eventually just decided to go the traditional scoops in a waffle cone route, then buy some chocolates to take home with our leftover money. the homemade ice cream is very affordable compared to a lot of places. mix-ins range from $5 for a coupe (small) to $8 for a fleetwood (large). regular scoops cost $3-$5.50 with toppings at $0.50 per. i love the coupe-sedan-fleetwood theme in place of the traditional sizing chart. CUTE!! but what really blew me away was the SERVICE. aubrey was our server and she was so amicable, it felt like i had known her for years. we told her about our livingsocial coupon and that we wanted to get: 2 sedan-sized scoops of ice cream in waffle cones ($4 + $0.75 for the waffle cones each x2) and a quarter-pound of two different types of chocolate ($5.50 x2) = $20.50. she knew right away exactly what we were going for. our two medium waffle cones were filled with a VERY VERY generous serving of ice cream that was both rich and creamy, but light at the same time. no wonder it's called "decadent ice cream." when aubrey was weighing our chocolates, she even threw in a few over the quarter-pound mark. on top of that, she didn't even charge us for the extra $0.50 or the tax. she simply took down my name (didn't even look at my livingsocial coupon - so trusting!!) and sent us on our merry way. i have never EVER tipped at a takeaway type place, but there's a first time for everything apparently. i wish i could've just stuffed $5 in aubrey's pocket instead though. i have no idea what any of the other servers at scoop deville are like, but aubrey is one of the BEST customer service people i've ever encountered. PERIOD.

We stopped by Scoop on the day after "Hurricane Irene" when lots of places were closed. The little one wanted fro yo - but Sweet Ending was closed as well. So I got her a small ($3.00) choc & van froyo topped (.75 cents) with mini m & m's (they were out of kit kats). Not awesome and not awful - but the LINE was so long (likely because they were one of the only retail stores open and they were also under staffed). In future we will stick to Sweet Ending (we love capogiro but it's pricey and they don;t have toppings and my kiddo's just gotta have her toppings). This place is A-OK but not spectacular.

Visiting my brother in Philly a few weeks ago and we had lunch and shopped in the city. Even though it was about 30 degrees out I was craving ice cream. Searched google maps and saw this place had the highest reviews of any in the area, so we decided to try it out. It deserves those high reviews! The place is so over the top it feels like you're in Candy Land. Everything is pink and large and the 12 year old inside me wanted so badly to have my birthday party here. They have an incredible gourmet chocolate selection. My friend had the sea salt chocolate and was raving about it, and he doesn't even really like desserts. The rest of us got ice cream. At first it looks like they have about 12 flavors to pick from. WRONG. Look up and they have a huge chalk board full of mix ins, additional flavors, toppings-- the selection was unreal. It took us all about 5-10 minutes to even figure out what we could handle. Get this-- you could even mix bacon in. One of the people in our group did it and loved it. Not for me, but good to see they cater to everyone. I got chocolate ice cream with cookie dough. Oh wait there were THREE cookie dough selections. I settled on peanut butter cookie dough and I was not disappointed. Very, very good. This place is like Cold Stone on crack. With a hint of Dairy Queen (I think they blend the ice cream a little bit like a DQ Bilzzard? But I could be wrong.) But whatever they're doing, they're doing it right. Everyone seemed really pleased with their selection. The staff was nice. I'd say the one thing they could change is adding more tables, or making the tables a little bigger. Especially when it's cold outside and you're not going to be sitting outside with your ice cream, it'd be nice to have enough space to sit in doors. Overall, very good experience and glad we found it. Can't wait to come back!

Who can not be a fan of ice cream? I have been here before but I didn't review it. 1.5years later I return with a craving for ice cream. i don't always crave iced cream as I am lactarded. But I came prepared with my lactaid pills. I actually wanted a milkshake not regular ice cream. It was hard to decide on which one. Too many darn options. I wanted chocolate but then i wanted banana, however from past experience I didn't like that combo blended together. I also didn't want banana bad enough to get vanilla. Either way, I ended up getting a premade combination (Almond Joy) and having that made in to a milkshake for me. I enjoyed the combo- it wasn't too sweet which I actually liked because the thing abotu getting milkshakes/frosties from certain places is that they are super sweet. The milkshake here was blended with milk so that chilled out the sweetness of the original mix. Weather was warm and i was in a good mood and so the milkshake was the happy ending I needed.

I love the place and the idea of a unique treat, but I've never been greeted with a smile and a hello at Scoops. Also, I realize it's mix-ins, but I've never really heard the whole story from the scooper. I'm not sure what's going on with your employees, but I've been feeling weird about going back in your store. The last time I was in there an older woman was working with a young man. She was talking down to him in a very condescending way and treating him like he was stupid. Nothing blatantly inappropriate, but enough to make me feel a little awkward and embarrassed. Is this acceptable behavior from your employees? That being said, you have a wonderful selection of candy. Excellent ice cream and tons of mix-ins. Lastly, I love the benches and the dog dish of water outside.

Disclaimer: I was here on 12/1. It should be noted that the current location is different from the location I visited last year, as they moved from the old Chestnut & 18th location to the current location on Walnut Street. The place looks a little less friendly & darker on the interior. However, the servers are still in high spirits, & they still have the machines that blends the ice cream with the mix-in toppings. I would definitely return, & hope that they increase the brightness of the place.

I've made it through several years of Philly without ever going to Scoop De Ville. I'm just not a big ice cream person. My co-workers the other day decided that we should take an afternoon ice cream break, and I joined them more for the opportunity to get out of the office. The list of options is kind of overwhelming, but I eventually settled on a chocolate yogurt concoction with bananas and nutella. It was delicious. The small is pretty big, so I only ate half and put the rest in the freezer. On a side note, we were intrigued by the tequila lollipops, with the worm in them.

Umm, heavenly. I could have spent all day here. You select a flavor of ice cream/yogurt and then you can get any possible mix-in or topping. The store is also a full chocolatier/candy store. The warm cinnamon apple topping was just what I needed on a chilly Philly day as an exotic visitor from Miami. I would bathe in this ice cream if I could.

The two women who were working at SDV tonight were so helpful. I raved before about the wonderful ice cream, but the employees here deserve an honorable mention. They spent a lot of time helping me decide what to order and how to mix ingredients to get to the best combination I ever got. Thanks for working hard at your job! It made it easy to enjoy the yummy treat.

Dear Philadelphia, Please have a nice chat with your sister city 100 miles to the north. Please share your tasty cheesesteaks, impressive-looking bars and restaurants, beautiful art scene, and Scoop De Ville. Please do not keep to yourself this wonderfully pink old-fashioned ice cream shop with candies beyond my imagination. Please inspire New Yorkers to experiment with various add-ins into our ice cream (like cream cheese!). Please make the ice cream fresh, sweet, and tasty. Please also share your chipper and pleasant workers. Love, Amelia

I don't think that there is anything not fun about getting cream, but a trip here just seems so much more fun than other ice cream places! Although nothing tops the ice cream from Franklin Fountain for me, I do enjoy all the different combinations you can make here!

If you are capable of consuming ice cream and are in Philadelphia, then this is where you should go to do it. I don't know how they make it so awesome(ideal sweetness, ideal texture, ideal creaminess) but I have a few theories: 1. Scoop Deville employees infiltrate local homes and steal the dreams from innocent children at night. These dreams are used as a sweetener instead of sugar. 2. The cows who produce for their farm are forced to watch Amelie all day, every day, for their entire lives. This gives their milk an optimistic, hopeful quality. 3. Bride tears, harvested from discarded wedding handkerchiefs, are used to clean their ice cream machinery. If you have any information that will help me prove any of these theories, please let me know as soon as possible. Protip: Get the tres leches blend and have them add M&Ms.

The cute & girly storefront lured me in like a moth to a flame. I stood in front of the ice cream & mix-in's board for literally 10 minutes before even being able to somewhat narrow down my choices. I debated on possible combinations for SO long that the kid working behind the counter handed me their pre-made menu for suggestions. Seriously-- the different combinations of ice cream you can make is probably in the hundreds of thousands. I ultimately went with the Moose Tracks ice cream with Caramel, Brownie, and Cookie Dough. They were all mixed together in a mysterious gadget and out came my treat! It was VERY good, but VERY pricey-- $5.50 for tiny cup! It's also nothing you can't get at Coldstone, so Scoop De Ville is just A-OK.

I would give this place 5 stars for its ice cream, problem is it's kind of a pain to get one. The workers are nice and all, but the system needs some tweaks, IMO. Not sure why there are two registers, you order and then have to wait around and pay at whatever register you're closest to when the ice cream is ready. Meanwhile, there's what appears to be a random mob of people milling around in front of the counter, with no real direction as to where to go for what part of the ordering process, so you have no idea who's next, or has ordered and is waiting for their ice cream, or already got the ice cream and are trying to pay. I think the owner needs to go spend some time at a Starbucks (or even Capogiro, which always seems to be mobbed and manages to keep things a bit more orderly) and see how those places are run. Seems to me that type of system would suite this space fairly well, if implemented properly. Like I said, though, the ice cream is great, so I'll probably only go in when it doesn't look too crowded.

Your ice cream, yoghurt and wide selection of toppings are amazing. It takes me 20 min. to decide on my concoction of the week. Last week I had the vanilla non-fat frozen yoghurt with strawberries, blueberries, and Heath bar. It turned out to be a great mix. I love the machine that turns your hard ice cream to soft with mix ins! *I had to deduct a star, because of the paint on the storefront window that says..."I'm CRAZY about this ice cream"-Amanda Bynes. That statement is really insensitive, and ignorant.

  • Jessica S.

Scoop De Ville's décor and layout reminds me of an old fashioned, sock-hop-style sweets shop on the boardwalk. If you're not into the froyo fad, this is your place. They have fresh chocolates, cakes, candies & ice cream with all the toppings a girl could ever dream of! I honed in on the Nutty Bananas' Foster - butterscotch ice cream blended with bananas and wet walnuts. It brought me wayyy back to my horribly embarrassing stint as a waitress at Friendly's (located in a NJ mall no less), blending those free cyclones for penny tips. *Shudders* happy thoughts, happy thoughts... back to Scoop De Ville. I paid a little under $5 for my small cup and enjoyed every last spoonful.

#23 If you're looking to feel gluttonous this summer, look no further than Scoop DeVille! A friend and I happened upon the place last year, as we were exploring the city on an incredibly hot summer day. We went straight in, craving anything nice and cold to cool us off. Now, I'll be honest, their menu is chock-full of options and it was incredibly confusing at first. So, we confessed our confusion to the servers, who were really generous with their explanations. Once we realized what size and toppings we wanted, we ordered. The servers got working straight away and, after getting everything together, they asked if we wanted everything to be blended together. Since we'd never had ice cream that way before, we decided to go for it and I'm sure glad we did! My concoction was pure awesome - I could taste every single topping in every melting spoonful. It was delicious, sugary, and cool. I actually ate the entire thing, which was a LOT. I've been back since several times, but I've been careful to order smaller portions OR share the lot with someone else. =) Regardless, Scoop DeVille is my go-to place for ice cream!

Review for ice cream only. This place is great, ordered a small black cherry yogurt with chocolate covered almonds it was awesome and huge. Prices for ice cream are the same as any neighborhood place. Lots of options from sugarfree blends, to a sundae with wasabi powder.

My husband and I love coming here for ice cream. The environment and the ice cream is great. I love that I never have the same flavor twice!

Yummy dessert store, where you can mix your own ice cream, as well as get chocolate dipped almost anything. If you love chocolate as I do, this is heaven.

Scoop De Licious! This place has good quality ice cream/yogurt with a large variety of toppings. It may take a while before you know what kind of topping(s) you want with your ice cream/yogurt, if any. My usual order is the Vanilla yogurt blended with Heath bar and maraschino cherries. Yummy! The only downside is that the prices are a bit steep, but it's good to treat yourself once in a while. The exterior of the shop had recently been renovated, but nothing has changed on the inside. It looks cuter than ever! :)

This was a photo opp that became an adventure in flavor. The crazy, beautiful, colorful, wonderful images of candy and other delicious sweets are enough to lure any Hansel/Gretel-at-heart person into the store and the kooky sweets-inspired decor continues inside. There are so many candies and chocolates and other goodies you'll honestly feel like a kid in Wonkaland. The boy got the Dulce de Leche ice-cream blend and I got the Spiced Pumpkin. I'll start with mine: the flavor was amazing--very pumpkin-esque--but the crackers they ground into it were too fine to be fun-crunchy, not fine enough not to feel grainy. So it was like eating grainy pumpkin ice-cream. Not a big fan. The boyfriend's on the other hand: pure ice-cream orgasmic. The perfect amount of sweetness thanks to a nice mix of coconut, vanilla and some other ingredients with just the right amount of crunch. Wow wow wow! It was so good, we actually got another one to share. And after that one, were tempted to get a third. In hindsight, we should have just gotten a fleetwood (FLEETWOOD! As in Fleetwood Mac!) size thing and gorged on it. The boy says it's the best ice-cream he's ever had ever. And he eats a lot of ice-cream.

Holy. Moley. This place is awesome. If your walking on Chestnut Street, you can pass this place by without an inkling of the deliciousness that lurks behind the unassuming store front. But make sure you stop in, it is phenominal. The thing that seperates SDV from your run of the mill ice cream places is the mix in menu. It is an entire legal size page with 8 font filled with delicious concoctions from your wildest dreams. The ice cream is quality, and the execution is flawless. I try not to go too often to minimize the impact of the delicious ice cream on my ass-size, but the last time I went the ladies behind the counter looked like they were having a rough day. They werent rude, but they werent really interested in making it a stellar experience. I can relate-ice cream shop on a hot summer day=copious amounts of idiot customers blankly staring at you when you ask what they want. The lady that waited on me seemed to warm up to me by the end of our transaction, but I could tell it was a long day-no bigs in my book. The ice cream itself is better than anything I have ever tasted. My only complaint is i wish they had a size that I could bathe in. If you have never been here, you are truly doing yourself a disservice.

I wish ate unhealthy because I would eat here everyday and try all of their suggested ice cream items. Everything is fantastic. If anything there's way too many options, it can get overwhelming. So when in doubt just point and you'll land on something good. Their prices are reasonable for what you're getting. I spend 5 bucks on a small which normally would irk me. But what I got was fantastic. And considering you can easily spend more than that at the make your own fro-yo place it's not that bad.

I've always enjoyed the ice cream here, and sometimes get the chocolates. Basically, a wide selection of ice creams, made at the store, and toppings to go alongside those, and a friendly staff that helps me taste and choose something for the mood of the day. The ice cream is less heavy than a Coldstone but still rich and flavorful. It's definitely an expensive snack, but still, a fun place to pop by if in the Rittenhouse area.

I just wish their humongous blackboards with the list of icecream and topping choice lists were more organized so it's easier to skim through and figure out what's written! Also, I personally would like to have the icecream showing through clear glass, not hidden behind the counter. It makes the place feel "less dessert"

tight quaters, but delicious ice cream and frozen yogurt. The best part is the variety of mix-ins. chocolate frozen yogurt + marshmallow fluff + york peppermint patties = genius. mint chocolate chip, yum. my heart still belongs to Basset's.

The quality of the ice cream is pretty top notch. But lines can form quickly, especially on weekends and when the weather is nice. There is very little seating inside, and it's very cramped with the line forming right behind your shoulders. A bright and fun place.

A cool, quirky little ice cream shop. I am always partial to ice cream... so I will admit... it's pretty hard for me to give less than 4 stars. However, I really dug the charm of this place... from the fresh chocolate creations they have.. to all the classic candies and knick knacks they have on the wall. The wife and I got an ice cream dish that was tasty and satisfying... though this was 2 months ago... so I don't remember which one in particular we got. Service was great and prompt.

Scoop De Ville's specialty is blending your ice cream (or froyo) and toppings of choice into a fluffy, rich, textured mound of deliciousness. (You can order yours unblended, if you like, but why? Why would you do that?!) If you are a confident, decisive person, you can create your own base + toppings combination. If, on the other hand, you are like me and stood gaping, slackjawed, at the epic list of toppings for 5 minutes, you are better off entrusting your sugary fate to one of the "suggestions" from the paper menus on the counter. I highly recommend the Chubby Monkey, consisting of vanilla ice cream, banana, peanut butter, chocolate-covered pretzels and wet walnuts*. That was one of the more expensive blends, at $6.00 for a small, but oh so tasty. *I didn't know what wet walnuts were either. Walnuts that are wet? If so, why? Don't they get wet when they're combined with ice cream? Are they pre-wetted? But no. Google says they are a dessert topping made from walnuts and maple syrup. Mmm.

Love this place. Its very simple idea....take great tasting ice cream and blend it together with your favorite toppings. You have to try the cookie dough if you go. It adds a great touch. My favorite blend is whatever ice cream, sugar cookie dough, and chocolate covered pretzels...whaaatttaaa mixxx

Cute concept: Choose your ice cream and whatever toppings and they blend it all together into your own specialized "soft serve" It's like Cold Stones except they don't blend everything together by hand. Instead, they throw everything into a special ice cream blender that looks more like a torture device you'd find in an S&M dungeon. My boyfriend got coffee ice cream blended with white chocolate chips and instant coffee powder. Yum. I opted to go for one of their Coffee Freezes. Think of a milkshake using iced coffee for the liquid instead of milk. Yeah, we're coffee freaks. Of course, since I was ordering at 7pm, they were out of coffee, but they offered to make my Coffee Freeze with milk anyways, which I accepted. My shake was awesome and full of coffee flavor despite the slight mishap. I only wish I could have tried it made the way it was supposed to be.

Way down in the Upstate of SC we have a place called Spill the Beans where they have a concept where you can mix in all your favorite toppings. Drive a few hundred miles north, I thought the concept was foreign.. Until I came upon Scoop De Ville with my Groupon. They have every topping you could imagine and more... the staff is more than willing to make you a recommendation based on the toppings that you are currently in the mood for. Love the benches outside!!

Yes, the ice cream is delicious. Yes, they have a million mix-ins and something to satisfy every sweettooth. But if I need to work a second job to have a icy treat once a week, there's a problem. I got a small (5 oz?) with two mix-ins and after tax it was nearly $5! Call me crazy, but I can buy a whole gallon of just about any flavor ice cream out there for less than $4 at a local grocery. Four people working, including a woman I presumed to be the Manager, and the (only) greeting I recieved was 'There's a more detailed menu over there'. (Thank you to the young man with a pony tail - If not for you, I would have just left). I work a few doors down and have seen a few shops in this spot before. I hope that SD can adapt to their new surroundings quickly, before they head down the same paths the as previous occupants (with very similar issues).

If I ever have a child, I will never take my child here...unless it's right before I hand him off to a babysitter, and I want that babysitter to be MISERABLE for the next three hours. Scoop DeVille is a delicious sugary overload. If you've ever fantasized about chewing your ice cream because it is blended - literally blended...none of that Cold St*** bullsh** where toppings are folded in- then Scoop DeVille is perfect for you. Ben-and-that-other-guy from Vermont may creatively market their loaded ice cream, but we all know that YOU are more creative than they are. Scoop De Ville thrives on YOU harnessing YOUR ice cream blending topping fantasy and making it a reality. YOU HAVE THE POWER HERE. Take, for instance, the Scoop De Ville recommendation Tres Leches (vanilla ice cream, coconut, sugar cone, and brown sugar), add peanut butter chip cookie dough and M&M's, and you've got yourself heaven in a cup... In fact, there's so much heaven in a small, you'd probably be best off sharing a little bit of that heaven with someone else - unless, of course, it's your child.

Such a great ice cream spot! I've never had a bad time but then again how can you go wrong with ice cream?! They offer so many different options but my personal favorites are moose tracks and cake batter. The girls behind the counter are always so welcoming, which makes for a wonderful experience!

Sorry Philly Flavors- you have some competition! I fell in love with this place last summer when I stumbled upon it. The concept is pure genious- pick your flavor of icecream or yogurt ( hard or soft serve) and then pick from the list of many many mix ins- everything from cream cheese to captain crunch to cofee powder and all of the basic candies in between. They take your selections and put the entire mixture through a machine that basically makes you a custom soft served blend! AMAZING! The place is so adorable too. Checkered floor, old school candy counter. It's feels like you're at the mom and pop ice cream shop down the shore. I want to give a shot out to RowZone for relocating to across the street from Scoops- my workout will officially go down the drain now!

I'm a little surprised by the great reviews Scoop De Ville has on Yelp. My husband and I brought my kids there today and I must say...I was disappointed. This ice cream shop does have one of the larges selections of toppings I've ever seen, however, there were so many I felt overwhelmed. I purchased a Vanilla frozen yogurt with peanut butter cups, chocolate syrup and peanut butter syrup. I asked for a medium but it looked more like a size small. There was hardly any peanut butter cups in it. There was a good amount of chocolate syrup in it. Their idea of peanut butter syrup was scooping out two spoons of peanut butter and placing it on top of my ice cream. The peanut butter was stuck to my spoon and it was too hard to mix with my frozen yogurt! I was really annoyed because I've been looking forward to going out for ice cream for some time and this was not what I wanted. The kids' ice cream was fine.... they both ordered chocolate ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. They were happy... My husband ordered Maple Walnut ice cream with warm apples and peaches as toppings. He was happy with the Maple Walnut ice cream but disappointed with his toppings because there was barely any there. The service was slow but it was crowded so it seemed they were a little overwhelmed. My server said they weren't expecting it to be so crowded today. But slow service didn't bother me....I was just expecting a better treat. UPDATE: Matt, the owner, contacted me this week with an apology. He would like me and my family to give Scoop De Ville a second try... I'm glad to see he cares about customer satisfaction. I plan to take him up on his offer and update my review.

I came here a few days ago because I saw a thing on yelp about getting two free blends in your ice cream so I was curious to see what it was all about. I'm glad I did. I love the location of this place. It's down the street from all the places I like to shop and most of the bars I love to go to. When I got here with my bf the line was a bit longer than what I expected but what I got was well worth the wait. They have so many things you can mix with it and a lot of topping too. It was hard for me to decide. I ended up getting a vanilla fudge with Heath bar cookie dough and marshmallow fluff and omg was it delicious and it was pretty cheap too. I am see my self returning here in the near future

The company I used to work for would order Scoop for us several times a summer...cannot argue with the tastiness of their ice cream (or fat free frozen yogurt). If you go in, the customer service is usually awesome BUT...as most of our experiences were for delivery, their telephone attitude is not that awesome. Pretty much every time we order, there are several errors and then we get a snotty attitude when we call them on it. So,if you want some sweets, just go in, don't call. Which is bizarre, I know, as I am sure it's the same people manning the phone as well as the counter but...like multiple personalities.

I don't like Coldstone, but I do like the concept of it: creating your own flavors by choosing an ice cream base and then folding in whatever toppings you want to create a spectacular personal creation. This is exactly what Scoop de Ville offers, only with far better quality ice cream and so many topping choices that you will NEVER be able to taste all the concoctions you could create from them! They mix in the toppings using an automated churner, which means that not only is everything completely mixed in (unlike hand-mixed creations), but the ingredients are basically pulverized, so make your decision wisely. Also, simplicity is key, because too many ingredients will probably ruin the taste, and you'll end up with a pile of unrecognizable flavors. But Scoop makes the experience very simple for the uninitiated, providing a long list of their own creations, which are damn fine! Once you get more comfortable, designing your own creation will become easier, although I still get extremely overwhelmed by the array of toppings available to me - its so hard to choose sometimes! My favorite concoction is a spin-off of one of their creations, my own Warm Apple Pie: vanilla frozen yogurt mixed with cinnamon and oatmeal cookie dough, topped with the hot apple toppings and whipped cream! I went with my boyfriend this past weekend, and when I ordered it the girl behind the counter thought it was so cute, she showed it to her colleagues. This place is absolutely fantastic - the cute interior, the amazingly nice staff, AND the ICE CREAM EXPERIENCE!!!!!

Vanilla frozen yogurt with cookie dough = best thing ever. I prefer oatmeal raisin cookie dough, but the chocolate chip is tasty too. Hard serve ice cream or yogurt swirled with your favorite topping to become soft serve? Amazing! Expect a LONG LINE, and prices are a bit steep. But I assure you, it's well worth the wait and the cash!

ICE CREAM!!! Do I have to say more? =) This place is adorable! It has a Betsey Johnson feel to it (very pink inside!). This isn't your typical ice parlor where you order a scoop of your favorite ice cream flavor. It's a "mcflurry" style and there are a LOT of toppings to choose from! Plan to spend some time in line, this place is bussssy (and obviously popular)! =) I wasn't adventurous and ordered from their menu. I got the coffee tiramisu ice cream.....yummmmm! =P I flavors were awesome!! I could taste the espresso bean from the coffee ice cream and they added cake bites and graham cracker crumbs, which added the perfect amount of texture. The only thing I didn't like about the ice cream was the consistency. The ice cream was super soft. If you don't eat it fast enough, you'll end up with a drink.

I went here yesterday for my birthday and boy, did I fall in love with it all over again. The cashier girl was so sweet to me when I found out you couldn't use a $50 due to how this place had to deal with counter fitted money but yet, allowed me to eat my frozen yoghurt while my friend ran to the bank to pull money out. The frozen yoghurt I had was so delicious! The environment is friendly and oh my gosh, the place is so cute.

On the day I agreed to move into an apartment in the Rittenhouse Square area my roommate to be bought me a cup of peanut butter ice cream from here to seal the deal(Thanks Liat). To this day I seriously think she was onto something because if this was how every single building owner sealed a deal than every building in Philadelphia would be on the verge of occupancy! Every scoop that you get here is fine blended goodness on the spot. So you get to watch every decadent bit of your scoop being prepared. The only thing close to a flaw is that every topping initially gets blended into your scoops. So if you prefer you M & M s crammed onto the top of your cone be prepared to say something. Otherwise this is homemade ice cream at it's sheer perfection!

  • Ashley L.

This is my go-to place to indulge in the city. They have A LOT of options to choose from, so expect to take some time making a decision (the snicker-doodle-dough is my personal favorite). One factor that sets them apart from other ice cream shops is their blend-in machine. You start with a base flavor, then add your topping and the machine chops it up into tiny, delicious pieces. There is one flaw to this, which is why I am only rating 4/5 stars: the ice cream tends to come out very soft afterwards and melts extremely fast. Regardless, I would still highly recommend trying!

    (4)
  • Jose A.

I have no choice but to give this place 5 stars, I mean if you've eaten here then you know, they do ice cream, like really, in the dictionary it saids.... "Ice cream: noun, a frozen delicous treat made of milk and served cold consisting of different topping and flavors as served at scoop de ville in philadelphia pa..." You want it they got, and it's a ice cream lovers dream, and it's a local spot, not a massive corporation, so even the vegan hipsters can like this place, but not if to many people find out because then it's not cool to like (that was a hipster joke)...

Dearest Scoop De Ville, I love you, I love you, I love you. A trillion mix-ins and I still want more! I can't believe you deliver... you're my dream come true. Let's make little blended ice cream babies together. Forever and ever. Love, Ericalynn

When I'm in Philly, I come here at least once a day - rain, snow or shine. When I lived in Philly, I once had Scoop 3x in one day. I have also nearly missed a Bolt Bus to NYC because of a Scoop detour. My go-to's: - Black cherry yogurt with chocolate covered pretzels and fresh banana - Chocolate yogurt with rice krispie treats and fresh banana - Chocolate yogurt with golden grahams and fresh blueberries Their portion sizes can vary widely depending on who is working. $10 minimum for credit cards.

  • Kat L.

4.5 stars my @$$! Okay, sure they have a huge selection. And a ton of toppings / mix ins, heck, they even have carrots. Yea they have a cool machine that mixes all the stuff together but A- I dont think you can legally have a $10 minimum to use a credit card. Its 2010. Get over it. B- the way the store is configured you stand amongst those eating, then have to shove your way out through those waiting / eating. awkward, and tight. C- I got a chocolate milkshake with fresh bananas, and I've never been more disappointed. The ice cream was bland, and the banana tasted GREEN. disgusting. D- Tuesday got froyo with mango mixed in, but for whatever reason there were random toppings mixed into hers that she didn't order, and it was just nasty. This place is cute, and the concept is great, but it just fails. And cute does not = good or yummy. What a waste of calories. Good thing I threw it all up once I got back to my hotel room.

  • Tara C.

This is a cutesy place. It's not so cute when it's 90 degrees outside and you're standing in a line behind 20 whiny kids because there are only two people working here at a time. That said, the ice cream is worth the wait and the money. My aunt and I were appreciative of the delicious delicacies and the air conditioning on a hot lazy day. They are cell phone haters here. I mean sure, who doesn't hate taking an order from a customer on a cell phone? Obnoxious, rude, deserves a "no cell phone" sign. But wait to make your call until after you order and are seated...and you'll still get glares of hate from the staff. Maybe they're envious, maybe they've dropped phones in ice cream, but for goodness sakes, I was just checking a TEXT MESSAGE after I had ordered and paid and I was seated! I'll take the abuse, though. Ice cream is grand. You can make your own or select from suggestions. I had some kind of coffee thing. I don't remember what it was, but it solved all cravings--and I'll leave it at that. Want to quit smoking? Try ice cream. Want to quit drugs? Get this in IV.

We have been meaning to try this place out for months, but we generally get our ice cream cravings late at night and this place always happened to be closed at those times. Well we finally made it there two nights ago and I don't think I was missing out on anything. There's a giant board with all the options on it and there's also a laminated menu by the register. I studied the board for a minute and realized I had no idea what it was saying to me (no, I'm not a dumb person!)... so I decided to grab the menu at the register to see if that worked better. Turns out the two are different so the basics weren't on that one and I was back to staring at the board. I really like things that are orderly and am a little ocd so this is probably my problem, not theirs, but I doubt I'm the only one that finds their system confusing at best. I was just going to let boyfriend get ice cream since I had no idea what my options were much less how to order them, but he mentioned he couldn't decide between mint chocolate chip and butter pecan... so I volunteered to get a small cup of the mint and he got a medium butter pecan. No toppings, just ice cream... $7! That is crazy to me. It was basically three scoops of basic ice cream for $7. I think I'll be sticking to the self serve fro yo places for my evening sweet cravings. Other problem: Cash only... ugh. (the chocolates/candies looked good, but I fear they're also pricey and am not sure I'll venture back in to try them)

I love walking here after dinner for a treat. They have a huge ice cream selection and just about every topping you can think of. I love how the toppings are pulled through with that crazy swirl machine. It can get crowded, but the line usually moves pretty quick.

I was there last Saturday. The line was extremely long! The weather was hot so icecream was perfect. There were only two people serving tons people. The servers were quick and had the line rolling along. So how was the icecream? It was good! I ordered a medium and friend had a small. I had the walnut ice and she had the raspberry. This place is great for kids and people who likes colorful, cute things. Overall it was a good experience. I'll be looking forward to eating more icecream in this area to compare.

So many delicious choices!! With so many options for ice cream in Philly, Scoop De Ville is one of the best. You definately have to be prepared to indulge. I've only tried their ice cream with mix-ins, so can't speak for their array of candy, milkshakes and other items. Their ice cream is rich, cream and yummy. On my first visit, I made the mistake of not having my toppings mixed in: definately yes to mixed-in. The staff seems friendly, patient and helpful each time I go in. There can be a line later in the day, but it moves pretty quick. Plus it takes some time to pick from the huge menu. Scoop is definately one of my top choices for ice cream here in the city.

I've been here with my wife a couple of times now. Its a great little ice cream and milkshake shop. They have lots of candies and deserts to buy as well. We usually get milkshakes when we go. They have a few different sizes for the ice cream and shakes which is good so your not forced to pig out (unless you want to!) and LOADS of flavor combinations and stuff you can add to your ice cream or shake. Can't recommend it enough. One of the best things about this place is that it is right across from The Continental (a great tapas restaurant, two in the city). I think i've reviewed them too. So you can grab dinner with friends there and deserts at Scoop De Ville.

I love the ice cream here. Thurs. night sweet treat attack was answered by a few scoops from Scoop De Ville. They were just about to close, but the wife and I were super excited they will still dish up some of the hard stuff for us. Not to mention that it was below freezing that night, so the walk home with the ice cream allowed for no melting what so ever! So, our chocolate, mint chip and moose tracks survived the few block trek back to the hotel. The other times I have been here I am like other reviewers have stated overwhelmed by all the choices. It is a candy coated sugar fueled sensory overload of treats to be tried. Chocolates, ice cream with mix-ins and all your favorite candies. I see why people go here multiple times during their visits. The staff is super friendly and the place has a kitchy itch to it.

The people who have worked here over the course of my time in Philly have all been very nice and patient when it came to making some selections on what I wanted from behind the counter. My tastes are open-minded, but my favorites list is always a little on the "vanilla" side. Try getting some M&M's or a similar candy blended into some ice cream, whatever flavor you choose may work, I suppose, though I prefer the aforementioned flavor.

I've been coming to Scoop De Ville to enjoy their super tasty treats since I started working in the Rittenhouse are two years ago. I appreciate that you can top your ice cream with whatever your little heart desires. I once got ice cream with wasabi powder! While having that option is awesome, I wouldn't recommend that you take it. The wasabi was entirely undetectable, and at $.75 a pop, toppings should be chosen wisely. Indeed, the prices get pretty steep. I paid over $5.00 for a milkshake made with vanilla fudge ice cream and caramel syrup. Having grown up on Nifty Fifty's milkshakes, which are twice the size and considerably cheaper, I think that's a little absurd. But it's Rittenhouse, and they've got bills to pay. Scoop De Ville is also selling cakes! I've never ordered a full size cake there, but I did get a cupcake on e! I don't see them here often, but they're pretty as a painting and delightfully fresh and simple. A must try if they have them while you're there. Service here is mixed. Some days it takes a very long time for anyone to take your order. Other days, they're dipping strawberries in chocolate for Valentine's Day and randomly handing them out to me and my coworkers. I briefly considered knocking off another star for the price, but I suppose it's a good thing it's pretty expensive. Otherwise I'd be here every single day!

I describe this as Cold Stone Creamery on crack and it is ten times better. This is one of my favorite dessert options in the city, especially in the summer. They have every ice cream topping imaginable. Their huge chalkboard menu is easy to read and they also have a menu with creation suggestions. This place is definitely a novelty of Philadelphia.

A great place to get a delicious ice cold creation! And the name cannot be beat! The vibe of the shop cant be beat, and there is something for every (sweet tooth) taste. If its a hot day in the city be sure to stop by to cool down quick Just choosing what to get can take some time, and the flavors are definitely in tune with the seasons, and I go in the fall and get the pumpkin!

Delicious frozen yogurt with a myriad of mix-ins. My daughter LOVES it. Would give it 5 stars, except for the fact that it is pricey.

Tried this place out because we had a groupon. At first when we walked in, we were a bit overwhelmed with the decor and the huge chalkboard menu. However, after receiving advice to use the printed menu we were then on our way to deliciousness. The girl that helped us was super friendly and energetic which is always a plus. I got the creme brulee with frozen yogurt and raspberries and Ian got the salted caramel with frozen yogurt. I loved mine because you could taste and feel the crunch of the brown sugar crystals. Ian's salted caramel was good, but was a tad too rich for my taste and I actually think it was too salty. If it weren't for the groupon, we probably would never have tried this place. I'll definitely visit this place again.

Lots of good suggestions or a huge variety of flavors and toppings so that everyone can have their favorite treat. I'll be stopping in again.

This is my favorite ice cream place in the city -- not to be confused with my favorite gelatto place in the city (Capogiro) or my favorite yoghurt place in the city (Yogorino). Let's start with the awesome array of, well, everything: topping, flavors, and combinations of toppings and flavors. What to do?! I go for no-sugar-added vanilla mixed with pretzels and sugar cookie dough. Perfect every time. But there's so much you could try! Maybe it's overwhelming? But brave it! The place itself is cute and the service is friendly as long as you're friendly back. They're often overworked and seriously crowded with only two people running around. So be nice, and get your just desserts!

This place has a very cute atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the ice cream and chocolate was okay. I wouldn't say this is a great dessert place, but its decent on a hot day to stop in and grab something cold. The chocolates were not anything special but were also just okay.

This is an interesting ice cream shop. Scoop's specializes in ice cream toppings; they must have at least 30 or 40, ranging from Oreo's to coconut slivers, ready and available each day, which in itself is unique. Another unique thing about Scoop DeVille is that they blend their ice cream so that the toppings are mixed in. The end result is like a very thick milkshake with toppings mixed in. I wasn't crazy about it when I tried it, but it definitely was an interesting experience and a unique flavor. I would definitely recommend this little shop whenever you are in need of a little variation from your traditional ice cream parlor.

No vegan ice cream, but otherwise totally delicious. At this place you can put almost anything into a big ice cream machine and it will poop out a big bowl of swirled and smashed up goodness. I had the Reese's peanut butter bowl, which basically was vanilla ice cream mixed very thickly with peanut butter, Cap'n Crunch cereal, chocolate and a bunch of other stuff. The result was a really tasty and rich bowl of ice cream. The staff was very helpful and nice. We were there on a weekday afternoon and got a seat but I could see it getting crowded very easily otherwise.

We had been walking for hours and were finally making our way back to the hotel. Nothing could stop us on our quest to lie down in bed. Except for a cute little ice cream shop. Maybe we could just pop in and check it out - see what it has to offer? Hmm... (Super long line + hours on our feet) / (our sudden need for ice cream) = well what's a bit more time? The wait was definitely worth it and it was a good pit stop on the way to the hotel. The ice cream was really good although they didn't have a wide variety of flavors. This place doesn't need a plethora of base choices though because there are tons of toppings that you get mixed in, no just thrown on top. I got vanilla with brownies, pecans and hot fudge. And, yes, your mouth should be watering right now because it was indeed delicious.

Candy stores just make me happy, and this one is particularly good. I went in one day out of curiosity and wound up leaving with a package of truffles for my friend's birthday, as well as some rich, dark chocolate for myself. Since it's a specialty store, the prices were a little on the high side, but it was worth it, and they have all sorts of different sizes and choices of things, so you can get something small if you're poor like me. The sales lady was also really, really helpful and nice. When I gave the truffles to my friend while we were out with our significant others for her birthday dinner, she decided to open the box for dessert. Well, needless to say, the box didn't make it more than 10 minutes before it was empty. Those assorted truffles were little pieces of chocolatey, heavenly goodness with surprises in each one (some had chocolate inside, some caramel, some a pink fruity center, etc. etc.). Oh, it was delicious. I'll definitely be back here next time I get a chocolate craving.

YUM. I am a big fan of this place. I just wish it wasn't always so busy. I always like to look at the suggestions list but usually end up getting the same thing every time (bc it is amazing). I think it's called Leighann's PB&J.

This place is definitely worth my money! Today I went and had a hot fudge brownie supreme, it was the most amazing thing I've ever tasted and plus I lovee eating ice cream in cold weather. Scoop De Ville beats out Coldstone for me and my friend. Also, I love the inside its so.. fun feeling.

Summertime, summertime calls for stops at Scoop De Ville quite often for what you ask? Simply...the most amazing Tiramisu ice cream! I haven't ventured into getting anything else here besides a wonderful cake that someone brought to a get together, which was also great. D*mn my terrible memory for forgetting what cake it was but I do know it was awesome. Seating inside and outside when the weather permits so make a stop if you want to try a little heaven in your mouth.

Excellent ice cream and extremely friendly service. The ice cream mix-ins are delicious and everything is of excellent quality. If you go here, definitely get the ice cream though; the smoothies are about average. It's also just a really fun and relaxed atmosphere, which makes it a nice stop anytime, whether with a date or with a group of friends.

Before Coldstone or Maggie Moo's, there was Scoop De Ville. It absolutely stands out in the category of "Fold in" ice cream. Like an ice cream parlor from a different era, this place serves the softest of ice cream with baked goods, herbs, fruits, chocolates, and all kinds of toppings blended in. No one comes close to providing the topping options that they do. You can create any ice cream combination that you ever dreamed of! Using an automated grinder, the various toppings are brought together perfect, and not uneven --- as is the case in the coldstones where the server's disinterest or lack of attention to detail can detract from the quality of the ice cream that is supposed to be custom blended. Scoop De Ville has such a warm, fun feel to it that you just enjoy being in the place. None of the contrived "sing every few minutes with no enthusiasm or soul" that you see in some of the Coldstone outlets (Times Square, anyone?). From the fuzzy, hand drawn menus to the cheerful and helpful staff...this is exactly what creates a wonderful dessert experience. Even though Scoop De Ville has been around 20 years, the family that runs it has been in business in Philadelphia since 1850 producing candies and chocolates. They just moved from their 90 year old location to a nearby, roomier location --- but the quality, the ambience is all there. Be prepared to be absolutely delighted!

The employees are always extremely friendly and enthusiastic to help with suggestions, and the ice cream itself is absolutely delicious. I love the giant board of mix-ins that gives you a totally customizable experience and never disappoints! Plus, the candy shop has some brilliant options as well, both behind the counter and on the selves of specialty items. The pink decor and "dessert first" theme completely fit with the upbeat and fun attitude within the shop but they could use more than 3 tables.

Scoop De Ville is so cute I could die. It's a bit expensive, but so much fun it almost doesn't matter. A little decadent for my tastes, but every now and then, it really just hits the spot. It's the perfect treat! I loooove that I can mix in Nutella and pretty much any kind of cookie dough my heart desires. If Coldstone was awesome, it'd be Scoop De Ville.

aww i love this place! i always bring a visiting friend or try and go if i have room after dinner. It is so welcoming and the selections for toppings and ice creams is seemingly endless! nothing vegan though (so i haven't visited in a while, but i do miss it). loveX3

Ice cream is terrible and then they mix in the toppings creating a soft serve consistency. I have tried it mixed and unmixed and it isn't all that either way. Their brownie bits are hard and do not taste like brownies. Would much rather go to Franklin Fountain in Old City. If you like Cold Stone Creamery then you will enjoy SDV.

I've been to Cold Stone (as has half of America), but as a Center City resident I have yet to find one near by. Although it wasn't summer, nor was the temperature anywhere near even 40 degrees Fahrenheit, I need to have ice cream badly. Capogiro was too gourmet, so I went on a hunt for a cute, secret ice cream shop. Scoop de Ville may not be secret, but it was exactly what I was looking for. A huge chalkboard greats customers, and the wall are lined with every type of candy or chocolate you can imagine. You can get all types of toppings (some they don't even offer at Cold Stone) mixed into your ice cream. Definitely don't miss the Nutella add-in; if you haven't tried it you haven't lived.

  • Cherie C.

Good ice cream with lots of options for mix-ins. But it can easily get rather expensive. I bought ice cream for six kids one night, and our takeaway lunch at Wawa the next day cost less than our ice cream. If you like lots of chunks and additions to your ice cream, you'll love this place. But my ice cream tastes are simple (chocolate syrup or sprinkles are all I really add, if anything), so it's not a big draw for me.

I was just at Scoop De Ville a couple of weeks ago. I visited this place with my girlfriend based on some good reviews here at Yelp. In my opinion, those reviews were pretty much accurate, although perhaps a little too enthusiastic. While the décor is interesting, the limited size of the seating area felt a little cramped. And the place wasn't packed at the time -- I'm guessing it would be uncomfortable when full. The ice cream, however, was pretty good. We both had variations on cake. Mine was a the strawberry shortcake, which ended up having to be a blueberry shortcake, as they ran out of the strawberries. Still, it was nice. My girlfriend had the Philly Cheesecake, which was even better. When I finally remembered to take a picture, it was already all gone. Scoop DeVille is a good ice cream joint, but not really amazing. I concede that the blizzard gimmick is fun (they mix up the ice cream), but that was the high point of our experience. Worth a visit.

I just got back from trying to go there. I wanted a ice cream even though it was freezing out. I walked in and there was a young guy sitting at one of the tables reading something. When we came in he walked behind the counter and continued reading the paper he was reading. He did not look up once or try to held us. We tried to order and were ignored! We decided the ice cream was not worth the service and left. I will not be going back there again and will have to look for a new ice cream place in center city.

This is dangerously too close to my hotel, and I don't like it one bit. My clothes are saying one thing, but my mouth is saying "must get ice cream...or that carrot cake piece...hmmm maybe a that piece of mint chocolate..." This place is a little too cute and smells heavenly = chocolate and other sweet treats mixed in. There are a lot of ice cream and topping options. It's kinda like a funky version of Cold Stone but with a more at -home feel. A small size of ice cream is $3.00 (pretty big scoops too) but totally worth it. I'm trying not to go back so often, but I'm in Philadelphia for awhile.

came in here to get some chocolate covered pretzels...walked out with our buying a thing. the sign says come in :( leave :)...other way around for my bf and I. the older lady is a total biotch who acted like it was an imposition to tell us how much the pretzels are. heaven forbid we ask how much the chocolate peppermint coins were! We walked straight out and will not returned. Reading terminal market for the win!

I've only ordered the chocolate water ice here and it's pricey but they give you a good size and it tastes really good! One warning is that the lines tend to grow out the door so look out on really warm, hot, nice days. I love the name of this establishment and I love the look of the store. It's small but inside is like a child's dream. There's candy on display everywhere and when you walk in, you see a giant blackboard with listings of all their ice cream flavors and other treats. Conveniently located next to DiBruno Bros.

If I am going to have my ice cream beaten to a pulp before I eat it, I much prefer Scoop De Ville to Cold Stone Creamery. At Scoop, your ice cream is mixed via machine instead of pummeled by the staff on an icy slab that could be a breeding ground for god-knows-what. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a Plain Jane when it comes to frozen treats. I like my ice cream scooped into a cone in it's natural state, no mixing, but maybe some rainbow jimmies. I also can't fathom paying $5 or more dollars every time I've got a taste for some mint chocolate chip even if the portions are on the generous side. The menu offers so many choices for mix-ins that it's difficult to make a decision even with their suggestions printed up before you. I would avoid taking small children there at all costs as they'll never make up their little minds! The chocolate ice cream with dark chocolate, caramel, and sea salt was pretty delectable and I do recommend that for a twist on your ordinary day. If you're looking for an out-of-the-ordinary ice cream treat and a splurge, head in to Scoop, but I won't be making this shop my regular summer ice cream spot.

Such a great idea! I love this place. It is pricey, so you should be aware of that. But hey, it's the city, whats not expensive? They take ice cream and add what ever toppings you want and put it into a magical machine! This machine mixes everything together and it comes out amazing!!! YUM! They also have a menu of a million pre-made combos! It's very good if your looking for some REAL ice cream in center city!!

  • Britt M.

LOVE this place. They have every ice cream imaginable, and every topping you could ever want to mix in, from cereal to candy bars. The whole place is pink and it's like being in some sort of happy, sugar dreamland that smells of intoxicating pastries and ice cream. They have fun, bright art on the walls and a chandelier covered in hanging pearls. (There's a picture of the inside of the store here: scoopdeville.com , they also have an online menu). It's such a unique place and a welcomed break from the Ben & Jerry's, Coldstone, etc. chain stores. I'm not the kind of person who likes a thousand mix-ins, I'm more just a single scoop and one topping, but they can accommodate both kinds of people. And although I just like simple ice creams, I'd choose this place over others just for the experience.

Scoop De Ville is my favorite place on earth, and thus, gets 8000 stars if I could give them. They have every wonderful, fancy, fabulous desert ever here. And you can make your own flavor of ice cream/frozen yogurt every time you walk into the place. Or, like my bestie and I, you can get the exact same thing every time because you know you can't get it anywhere else [mine: chocolate ice cream with coffee beans and raspberries ground in.. to DIE for]. The staff here are lovely people who love their job [who couldn't?], and whether there's a line or not, you always get served pretty quickly. My advice: get up, go NOW!

YUMM. This is the best place for ice cream concoctions. I work pretty close to this place and every time I walk by I'm tempted to run in for a treat. You can pretty much get anything you want blended into your ice cream. And did I mention the place is very pink and funly decorated. Try heading over to DiBruno's for lunch then here for a sweet treat afterwards. You won't be disappointed.

  • Stevie S.

OK, full disclosure: I have only had one item here. It was so good I don't think I will ever deviate. I don't know what it's called but they blend up coffee beans and other stuff and - DAMN. So good! Might even make you jittery if you're heavily affected by caffeine. I'm not. Perfect pick-me-up after a weekday lunch in the summer.

  • Rina R.

I enjoyed this place. It's sort of pricey, but it's decent ice cream. They have two menus, so keep that in mind when ordering. The big board has a bunch of flavors and blends, and the smaller laminated menus have pre-mixed options. I got the Moose Tracks mix, and it was really good. The smaller size was over five dollars, which seemed a bit high to me. The place does accept credit card, but they do have a ten dollar minimum. If you're getting mixes for two, you'll probably break ten dollars. It's a cute place, but I'll look for something else next time.

Best ice cream ever! Has so many varieties and toppings!!! Definitely come with a wheelchair because you'll need someone to push you after you eat it.

pretty good ice cream joint. Gets expensive as you add toppings. Basically a high-end blended ice cream place. The other reviews explain the gist pretty well.

  • Argot B.

there's something wrong in this place. they are obsessed with telling you about how they blend the ingredients and I'm like, yeah dude, we've been to dairy queen and let me tell you, dairy queen is far better. their menu was stupid. they serve things in shitty little styrofoam cups. this place sucked. we threw it out half-eaten disappointed.

  • T. B.

I discovered them while looking for ice cream birthday cakes in Center City. They had a really nice selection but were quite expensive, so I opted for a gourmet cake instead. Shoulda gone with Scoop de Ville... Finally had a scoop of their cookies and cream and it was delish! Lots of options for those who like frozen treats in general. Don't make the same mistake that I did and ask "oh, are you guys like Coldstone?" Yes they are, but they'll deny it to their grave.

    (5)
  • Carl C.

$12 for two cones.... Ice cream is good and "mix in's" are worth it but c'mon, I never remember this place being that expensive. All in all the place is ok, but I would rather spend my money at Coldstone. Not as expensive and frankly the ice cream is better. I mean if I had two kids I would have spent over $30 on ice cream. What is this world coming to?

  • Andrea L.

This place is awesome, go. There are a lot of options, true, but you just need the right strategy. Walk in, order anything you want on your ice cream, pay and enjoy. It is very unlikely they won't have what you want. My bf got bacon bits, I had cashews and peanut butter. Just order, you'll love it. The servers are super friendly (Aubrey was great to us) and will help with suggestions if you need it.

Reliably good ice cream and fresh toppings. There can be very long lines but the deserts are delicious and the scoopers are friendly when they aren't too busy. Brownie mixed into vanilla ice cream is one of my favorites and their maple walnut ice cream is delicious. It's a short walk away from Rittenhouse square, if your desert lasts that long..

  • Annie M.

I LOVE ICE CREAM!! This place has quite the variety of toppings and very interesting premade combos for you to decide on. They have "blends" as well where it's more like a McFlurry style. We sampled a few flavors and thought they were all good. I really liked like maple walnut ice cream. I definitely would recommend stopping by and checking out all the "suggestions" they have on their menu. They even have wasabi :)

A fantastic ice cream parlor that has customized mix-ins and fabulous customer service. We stopped by after lunch and had a chance to meet the owner who gave us a brief history of small family-run businesses in Philadelphia.

I was really surprised at how reasonably priced everything was here. I thought, since the location and whatnot, that'd it be expensive, but I think my waffe cone + topping was only about 3 bucks. So I get that their whole deal is their toppings, which I thought a bit confusing. They take whatever topping you order and blend it into complete oblivion in the ice cream, so it's next to impossible to be able to tell what you actually ordered. There's no chunks or bites of said topping, but sort of this soft-ice-creamy, beige, sorta flavorless...thing. I suppose you could ask if they don't mind blending it so much, but I never thought to ask.

Ice cream is my favorite food group, so I love having Scoop DeVille in the neighborhood! They have a HUGE selection of ice cream flavors and mix-ins, as well as chocolates and other candies. Their menu provides tons of suggestions for how to combine these for maximum deliciousness, but I like to walk in and invent something based on my cravings at that particular moment. They have yet to be thrown by any of my requests! Whatever you want, you got it - and at a very reasonable price! The staff is always super-friendly. Service can be a little slow, but this is because they blend each ice cream/mix-in to order. Lines in the summer can go out the door, so just chill out and relax - you'll get to the front eventually! It will be worth it. My favorite thing about Scoop DeVille is their late hours - they close at 10p! Since my ice cream cravings are frequently brought on by a glass or two of wine, I always appreciate that they're still open by the time I think to drop in!

So I'm a lactard... but what is it about traveling that makes me want to check out local ice ream shops on warm east coast summer evenings? I'm heading to Amherst this weekend and checking out Herell's in North Hampton, wipee! But let me say that ice cream shops that mix the toppings in usingthe super cool corscrew drill lookngi device, ROCK MY WORLD! There's on in LA in Brentwood if you are ever in town, and they'll mix anything... and 21 flavors in Pasedena if you end up there. But when in Philly this is the place to be...grab some on your way to Rittenhouse square for a picnic.. you might need to buy more than one just so you dont eat it all on the way.

Good ice cream, lots of options, a bit overpriced for what it is. Medium with 2 mix-ins and topped with sprinkles was $7. Also, $10 minimum on credit cards like virtually every other business in Philadelphia.

I haven't tried the ice cream--just the chocolates. They are nothing special. Even though the truffles are only 80 cents each, they are only worth about 80 cents. Save your hard earned 4/5ths of a dollar and buy a newspaper... or a couple of gumballs..or something. Yes, there are signs all over the place about not using your cell phone inside. I don't know who died and made them god, because I think god's chocolate would taste a lot better than theirs. I might go back to try the ice cream. MIGHT. EDIT: I went back for the ice cream. Here's my response: Poop de Ville.

I thought the ice cream was good but the service was lacking. One of the "scoopers" charged us too much and then did not understand the simple math involved in refunding us the difference.

  • Marcelita O.

I can't comment on the ice cream, as I didn't try it, but I got a living social voucher and I used it on chocolates. I was underwhelmed. Their dark chocolate tastes more like milk chocolate. It's mediocre at best. They didn't have any of the truffles like the champagne truffles mentioned on their website, which increased my disappointment. I would not got back for their chocolates. Maybe some day I will try the ice cream though.

I was so excited to go here to this pink palace of cuteness, but I was also disappointed. I wish they had more of a variety of frozen yogurt and ice cream flavors! I tried the black cherry frozen yogurt, and it was pretty good. Another suggestion for improvement: if they served it in those old, tall sundae glasses it would be better, especially if they are trying to imitate an old fashioned soda fountain. Effort for presentation, people! I additionally wished they carried cupcakes.

    (3)
  • Rachael P.

There are so many many toppings to pick from it is almost overwhelming. Almost... You can have any creation that you want and they turn it into soft serve. It is reasonably priced to boot!

Well gosh darnnit! Smack my ass and call me Sally! I am so fired up by this place. Here's the scoop. I walk into MORAN chocolates and Scoop de Ville at exactly 19:46:03 03/04/96. You see, on this particular Spring evening in the city, I'm feeling quite the bundle of joy--so excited really, that I couldn't stop tapping my feet to the rhythm of the night, and upon noticing any unobstructed park bench or any other similarly sized launching-point, couldn't help myself from taking a Texas-sized run-up, leaping into the air using the bench as leverage, and with a loud, gratifying "CLACK", clicking together the heels of my cool new patent leather Fred Astaire shoes, torso twisted gracefully with arms folded up behind my head as if forming the "A" in "YMCA". A picturesque snapshot of one undubitably fine spring evening. You see, as just two hours before, I had the dead weight of my newly received Diner's Club International credit card burning a hole in my pocket. And you may know, nothing, absolutely nothing burns more than the dead weight of a Diner's Club credit card searing through your pocket and leaving an indellible mark on your tender loins. Can your lowly old Discover Card do that? No, I think not! That gives just a slight sting, a tingle really-- just a molehill compared to the mountain of hurt that is a Diner's Club International pocket burn. I decided that this would have to be remedied immediately. And so, that is the story of how I came to be the proud new owner of these cool new patent leather Fred Astaire shoes. And a coonskin Daniel Boone hat. And a Charlie Chaplin moustache from Jessie Disguise. And last but not least a pogo stick. And so, on that wonderfully breezy spring evening, I pogo my way into MORAN chocolates/Scoop Deville, all the while feeling like a million bucks sporting a fashionable Daniel Boone hat, a not-yet so fashionable but soon to be in (I'm ahead of the curve) Charlie Chaplin fake moustache from Jessie Disguise, and my sweet new patent leather Fred Astaire dancing shoes. Oh yes, forgot to mention, my good friend "Matt the only black guy I've ever met named Matt" called me at that exact moment. So there I am, minding my own business, having a conversation with "Matt the only black guy named Matt", pogoing up and down, and out of nowhere, a big fat WHITE woman comes up to me and rudely, while gesticulating in peculiar ways I presume only big fat WHITE women do, tells me I have to, in ruder language, get my butt off my pogo stick, take the dead animal off my head, and stop talking on the phone to the only black guy I've ever known named Matt. Well, oh no she di'int!!! I wonder how that big fat WHITE woman would react if it were a white woman talking on the cell phone while bouncing up and down on the pogo stick minding her own business! This type of rudeness is pure and utter shenanigans. SO JUST TO REITERATE IN ALL CAPS SO THAT YOU ALL REMEMBER. I WILL NEVER AGAIN DO BUSINESS IN THIS 'ESTABLISHMENT' BECAUSE I DID NOT SEE THEIR NO PHONE, NO POGO, NO RACCOON HAT, NO TALKING TO BLACK DUDES NAMED MATT POLICY POSTED ANYWHERE!!! I WILL NOT SUPPORT ANY STORE THAT DOESN'T SUPPORT ME AND MY SPORTY LIFESTYLE. THIS IS A DISGRACE. AN UNSPEAKABLE OUTRAGE. GOD BLESS!!!!

Delicious ice cream and various choices of ways to eat it along with all the toppings you could want. Scoop De Ville is the the epitome of a childhood dream. The atmosphere in the shop is perfect with it's checkered floors and pink & purple accents which really make you feel like your in an ice cream wonderland. Can't really complained about anything except the prices. Earlier in the summer I bought me & a friend a treat and it cost me $15 total. Talk about insanity.

This place has that 1930s confectionary vibe down pat. However, the menu is much more Pepsi generation... a nice contrast. Scoop Deville has great PR... and cold or warm weather, they're always busy. I personally find them to be a little overpriced, and the ice cream isn't the best stuff in the world. Still, it's a fun place for kids, for couples, and for your sweet tooth. If you needed dessert catering, they have a plethora of options.

Fancy. Although it's a couple blocks away from Capogiro on 20th st, this one is a nice addition, easy access for hot day slurpy next to DiBruno's (where I sometimes got lunch). Cool place to sit, bite on your preferred ice cream and chit chat with your company. A bit pricey!

omg! this is my favorite ice cream shop ever. It's kind of like a privately owned cold-stone creamery...except that I hate cold-stone..but I love scoop de ville. The ice cream is so soft and good..and you tell them what toppings you want and they kind of blend it for a bit..not enough to turn it into a smoothie..but enough to make it the consistency of almost-but not quite-soft serve. They also have sooo many more topping choices than cold stone. My favorite is vanilla frozen yogurt with oatmeal cookie dough (YUM) and white chocolate chips..oh man. They also have baked goods and chocolates...and the inside is like an ice cream parlor from the 20s..very nice..very fun..i miss it - next time i'm in philly i'll be visiting this shop.

im surprised no one has left a review for the cake here yet. i ordered a birthday cake for 25 people from here and it was completely demolished. ive never been to a party where EVERYONE not only wants cake, but finishes every bite of it. the ice cream cake from here had this reaction. i got the quarter sheet vanilla/chocolate cake and it was truly a delight. thanks maron/scoop de ville!!

Once every three months, I am required to work a 12-hour day at work. On these long, grueling days, my boss always buys her staff ice cream from Scoop de Ville to reward and thank us for our efforts. I always joke that the promise of free ice cream from Scoop de Ville is the only reason why I show up to work on those days. Scoop de Ville somewhat reminds me of an old-fashioned ice cream shop on the inside. The best thing about Scoop de Ville is the variety that they provide to the customers. I can guarantee you that Scoop de Ville will be able to deliver any sweet treat that you happen to crave on any given day. Their menu features ice cream and frozen yogurt that can be blended with numerous candy, nut, and even fruit toppings. When the weather is hot and I am craving a cold treat, but don't want anything too heavy I always make it a point to grab some of their delicious sorbet or a frozen banana. This is also a fantastic place to go to buy a gift for a friend with a sweet tooth. I once bought some peanut butter cups from Scoop de Ville and they made me never want to resort to buying a pack of Reese's again.

Besides the staff being very nice and helpful, I didn't find anything special about this place. The ice cream wasn't bad, but it wasn't worth what I paid for it. It was worth the one shot.. but not worth a second try.

I have a complaint...too many wonderful choices. It takes me an hour to order. They have every topping you could ever desire and ones you haven't even thought of. I love the graham cracker, chocolate, coconut combo and anything with cream cheese. I've had so many things on their menu it's embarassing. The great thing is you can get yogurt instead of ice cream and not feel so bad about putting peanut butter and everything else on top.

This place is awesome. It is like Coldstone's in that they mix things into your ice cream but much, much better. The atmosphere is so cute too. I have a shirt from there that says "Eat Dessert First".

If your looking for un-caporgiro, as in the universally accessible, comforting, friendly ice cream place that grandpa took you to, check out Scoop De Ville. It's really low key, and they have some great ice cream!

The perfect Rittenhouse picnic involves a selection of meat and cheese from DiBruno's and finishes with a cup of sweet deliciousness from Scoop De Ville. I'm partial to the hot apple pie a la mode and the pumpkin pie combinations. They also have the fruit sorbets inside fruit shells which make for an impressive dinner party dessert. Sure it's a little expensive, but everything is made with quality ingredients and a little bit of love.

Scoop De Ville may not be the most fancy ice cream place around, but it's warm friendly environment is what ice cream is all about. Grabbing an ice cream here is an expression of personality. You pick ingredients and they blend it with whatever flavor of ice cream you want. This aint no cold stone though where a bad server can leave your ice cream unblended with huge chunks and heterogeneous spots of flavor. Scoop De Ville instead uses an automated grinder which pulverizes your ingredients and leaves it a well mixed testament to your imagination. Your tastebuds won't be sorry unless you choose some harebrained mix, but that's why they have suggestions for you. Express yourself with a work of ice cream art and then devour it because its real good.

In any other city, I'd head to the Ben and Jerry's which is around the corner, but in Old City, this is my ice cream venue of choice. Not only is it a quintessential Philly landmark, but the variety of choices and mixes can't be beat. Highly recommended.

I'm writing to bring awareness to an issue that I had at this location. I needed to get either a cake and/or cupcakes for a birthday dinner for a friend of mine. It was after 7pm, so I knew it would not be the easiest to do, but never did I imagine it being so hard either! I called Scoop DeVille at 7:33pm. and the employee that answered confirmed that they had cakes AND they would be open until 8pm. I get to the door at at 7:50pm and the door is locked! I can see an employee in the back working and I knocked on the door. He basically gave me dismissive hand gesture and walked into a room further back in the establishment. I think i was a bit desperate to get a cake for this friend's birthday and I decided to call. The employee comes back into sight and answers the phone. I explained that I called him not too long ago and he confirmed that the store would be open until 8pm, and all I needed as a cake. He responds, "fine, I will let you in" and proceeds to slam the phone down in my ear and then slammed a towel on one of the counters in frustration. I'm looking at him in absolute shock at the fact that he would respond this way when I'm clearly in a jam AND I'm SPENDING my money! But don't forget the fact that I got to the door 10 minutes before closing! He truly made me feel like I was asking for a hand-out or something by simply opening the door and allowing me to SPEND my money. I knocked on the door again and gestured to him to don't even bother doing me any favors and I walked away. For me, this was truly a "what gives" situation because I was there before the closing time, there to spend money, so I don't know exactly what the problem was with this particular employee? For the record, I am a Black man, however, I wasn't dressed in "hip-hop" attire nor do I look particularly intimidating. Again, for me, this was a "what gives situation." The great thing is that there's an establishment at Walnut and Juniper by the name of Naked Chocolate that stays open late and that was a much better experience. The atmosphere and employees were so warm and inviting, and my friends loved their cupcakes, especially the friend whose birthday we were celebrating! Scoop DeVille has to do better if they want to survive on Chestnut Street, especially in a city as diverse as Philadelphia!

i like this place because they are always so nice to me there. they have a HUGE selection of ice cream and toppings and chocolates. they even have chocolate covered bananas and sometimes even strawberries. they have assorted cakes and candies too. i exclusively get the fudge brownie sundae (obviously i have a thing for brownies). its kind of a walk from me though, but i don't mind, i can burn the calories. that's it, i'm going tonight.

My friend and I came here for the first time and I absolutely loved this place. It's small place but this ice cream shop had pretty much every type of ice cream flavor and topping that one can imagine. The flavor that I got was the cookies and cream ice cream blended with m&m's now that's a combination that is can't miss. If your in Philly go to Scoop Deville you will not be disappointed you will be like a kid in a candy store. And to make things even they have POP ROCKS!!! I will definitely be back for more.

Very cute decor. Amazing ice cream and lots of options. You can make your own combination or choose from their selection. I got coffee ice cream with Oreos, coffee beans and chocolate syrup - blended - it's a little softer after the blender but everything was mixed together perfectly. It was delicious. A few people I was with ordered the strawberry shortcake (an option the ice cream shop offers) and they loved it!!! I think they could use a little more seating. I will definitely be back!!

Scoop Deville is a mix in ice cream shop that also sells a lot of old school candy. The ice cream style is similar to a cold stone creamery except that instead of mashing in all the toppings by hand, they use a blending machine to do it. I had the cookies and cream with brownie and graham crackers. It was okay, a little pricey for what I got. The ice cream itself was nothing special from what you would buy at the store and I think I like the mash ins by hand a lot better than when they use the machine. Scoop does have a variety of items there like giant jawbreakers and fun dip.

I had a small customized blend with black cherry frozen yogurt, toasted cocnut, baked birthday cake and double fudge cookie dough; very tasty! The portion was pretty big for a "small" one and worth the prize $5.4 w/ tax. They have so many options for toppings!

Nice place.

Your spoons are so flimsy I can't even eat my ice cream... For a high quality ice cream place you'd think that functional utensils would be an essential?

Nom nom nom. Ice cream is the true food of the gods. I was seriously full after a big meal at El Vez, a quality Mexican restaurant. But since it was a birthday dinner, desert was happening. And, to Scoop Deville it was. How I wish I had nothing else in my belly. I could have an ice cream meal. That said, I still had a nice helping of ice cream. They have lots and lots of stuff you can add to your ice cream and have it mixed together. My concoction was delish. If it's not clear, I love love love ice cream. So yeah, I love Scoop Deville.

OMGOSH I love this place. Their rootbeer floats are LEGIT! It's not the syrup rootbeer but they actually pop open a glass bottle of rootbeer and the float could not be more delicious.

Definitely felt disorganized line when ordering. Dirty floors and environment. Poor seating. Tacky decorations and poor lighting. Save your money and go to Whirled Peace.

scoop deville, its just the name and location that attracted me into the store. i cant say its the best ice cream i've had, its average. price I paid, i would of been much happier and better off going to wawa and get a pints of ben and jerry.

Great service!! Awesome menu. We had a pecan ice cream float and it was surprisingly excellent! I can't wait to try out the other options and especially the ice cream cake. The atmosphere has a very cool vibe for an ice cream shop.

Best ice cream place in the city!! Options are endless. Had the Oreo mudslide and the smores combo. Both were mouth watering! Essentially they blend all the ingredients you want into one and then add toppings. Plenty of seating and the cutest decorations and set up. Definately recommend.

The lighting is dim and creepy for an ice cream place. Limited seating and high prices

  • Nikki R.

So many choices it's hard to choose... Vanilla Ice cream, heath bar & sea salt... Yum!

    (5)

Can't wait to come back!

i walk by this place all the time, but rarely do i venture in. the cheap asian in me tells me i can buy a whole carton of ice cream for the price of a couple of scoops at an ice cream shop. the first time i came here, it wasn't a very memorable experience. hence, i kind of blew this place off. but yesterday i came in to use my livingsocial coupon ($10 for $20 of ice cream/chocolates) that would expire in 3 days, and it was literally the highlight of my week. their ice cream mix-ins menu was really REALLY long. my roomie and i must've stood there for at least 10 minutes gawking over it, trying to figure out how best to spend $20 on ice cream between the two of us. we eventually just decided to go the traditional scoops in a waffle cone route, then buy some chocolates to take home with our leftover money. the homemade ice cream is very affordable compared to a lot of places. mix-ins range from $5 for a coupe (small) to $8 for a fleetwood (large). regular scoops cost $3-$5.50 with toppings at $0.50 per. i love the coupe-sedan-fleetwood theme in place of the traditional sizing chart. CUTE!! but what really blew me away was the SERVICE. aubrey was our server and she was so amicable, it felt like i had known her for years. we told her about our livingsocial coupon and that we wanted to get: 2 sedan-sized scoops of ice cream in waffle cones ($4 + $0.75 for the waffle cones each x2) and a quarter-pound of two different types of chocolate ($5.50 x2) = $20.50. she knew right away exactly what we were going for. our two medium waffle cones were filled with a VERY VERY generous serving of ice cream that was both rich and creamy, but light at the same time. no wonder it's called "decadent ice cream." when aubrey was weighing our chocolates, she even threw in a few over the quarter-pound mark. on top of that, she didn't even charge us for the extra $0.50 or the tax. she simply took down my name (didn't even look at my livingsocial coupon - so trusting!!) and sent us on our merry way. i have never EVER tipped at a takeaway type place, but there's a first time for everything apparently. i wish i could've just stuffed $5 in aubrey's pocket instead though. i have no idea what any of the other servers at scoop deville are like, but aubrey is one of the BEST customer service people i've ever encountered.

Crazy combinations, but great ice cream. The staff is friendly and they also take "LevelUp" if you're a member. LOVE this place.

  • Joanna H.

  • Hong N.

This is my favorite ice cream place in Philly. Lots of homemade flavors that are rich and creamy and every topping you can think of. Love it!

  • Sara F.

    (1)
  • Mickey A.

  • Britty H.

came in here to get some chocolate covered pretzels...walked out with our buying a thing. the sign says come in :( leave :)...other way around for my bf and I. the older lady is a total biotch who acted like it was an imposition to tell us how much the pretzels are. heaven forbid we ask how much the chocolate peppermint coins were!

    (5)
  • Caroline H.

It's a cute place, but I'll look for something else next time.

there's something wrong in this place. they are obsessed with telling you about how they blend the ingredients and I'm like, yeah dude, we've been to dairy queen and let me tell you, dairy queen is far better. their menu was stupid. they serve things in shitty little styrofoam cups. this place sucked. we threw it out half-eaten disappointed.

Whenever I am in the mood for ice cream and in the city I stop here first. The staff is always friendly, even when there's a long line. I would recommend this place if you want some ice cream and not frozen yogurt.

I had a small customized blend with black cherry frozen yogurt, toasted cocnut, baked birthday cake and double fudge cookie dough; very tasty! The portion was pretty big for a "small" one and worth the prize $5.4 w/ tax. They have so many options for toppings!

  • Candice B.

  • Anand T.

  • James J.

    (4)

  • Alick W.

  • Shaina F.
