Between the price and the food, I can't say enough about how great Powelton pizza is. I order from here frequently and my only thought for improvement is that they should be open later! I have ordered burgers, pizza, fries, and cookies but my go to favorite is their BLT. It is delicious with fresh ingredients and a low price. I ordered through Grubhub and Grubhub's menu was incomplete as to what types of cookies, what toppings on the burger, etc. Both times that I ordered, the cook himself called me to ask what I would like! Lastly, the drivers are always the most polite, soft-spoken gents in Philadelphia, They don't rush you to come get your food after 20 seconds like other places (I don't have an elevator in my building.) I recommend the cookies, BLT, and fries (perfectly crunchy on the outside!). Polite, good food, and good prices.

I can honestly say this is the best pizza I have had in my life. Seriously. It is that good. I have to say first, that this place is under new ownership. Even with the previous owners, this place had very good pizza. Not spectacular, but very good. Now, under new owners, the pizza is spectacular. From the first bite, you can tell that they use high quality ingredients. I was told by a worker (the owner, I think) that they make their sauce from scratch. You can tell! It is that good. The crust and the cheese are very good as well. The toppings are of the highest quality you would expect from a pizza place. I have not ordered anything else from them, just pizza. Staff is friendly enough. No problems there. They have about six or so tables. So if you are in the Drexel/UPenn area, and have a hankering for a slice or two, stop by this place. You won't be disappointed. Oh, and speaking of slices, they always have several pies out to choose from. So if you just want a slice, you will certainly be able to get one.

They have gluten free pizza that has a decent crispy thin crust and is not super overpriced. Typically places give you a tiny pizza for more than the price of their large. This wasn't the case. It was not the best pizza I've ever had, but when you have to give up gluten and your options nearby are slim you take what you can get. It's also great to see places trying to accommodate the gluten free community and for that I really like this place. I must also add that I ordered from grub hub and my order came wrong, I called and was immediately apologized to and they sent the missing part of my order right over. Stuff happens, but when it's handled promptly and with respect I love it. 4 stars for the good service and having gluten free pizza!

My only complaint is that the delivery guy was rude and impatient. I ordered food to be delivered to my job and I specifically asked if he could at least walk close to the front door because I could not leave my desk. But nope, he stands almost down the street. When I finally found someone to cover my desk (6 minutes and 4 phone calls from the delivery guy later) I went to meet him. All he said was "Powellton Pizza?" I said yes. Then he proceeded to walk toward me and kind of shoved my food into my stomach area and continued to walk off without saying anything like we were performing some kind of lowkey drug deal. On another note, my food was good.

Their pizza is just aite, exactly what I want and expect from a UCity pizza spot in this price range. The mozz sticks are out of control delicious though. Like, cooked to perfection. They were thick, with just the right amount of salty, crunchy breading and the perfect texture (not overly gooey or greasy). I never thought I would rant this long about the awesomeness of an order of mozzarella sticks, but these may in fact be the best I've ever had in my life. My coworker noticed their perfection from across the room, so I know I'm not *totally* crazy. Look at that, Powelton Pizza, you made me think way more about mozz sticks in one day than I have in my entire life. And you made my coworkers jealous. Will definitely order from Powelton Pizza again. Takeout is very speedy and delivery guys are polite!

Yo, Powelton Pizza, what's up? Your food is quite tasty and your pizza is the best in the neighborhood, but your hours are weird and you tend to close down for random stretches of time which results in me eating subpar food elsewhere. Is everything ok? Is it me? I want to love you! Why won't you let me love you?

Under new ownership, food and service is excellent, ask for Alex! They take Debit and Credit Cards, delivery, good place to sit in or order to go, one of original pizza around University City area, has been there for years!

Nice little pizza shop, I received my food in a timely manner. The customer service was good no complaints, I would say they could have explain any specials. The pizza was amazing this is not a place for veggie lovers. Overall, the pizza served its purpose and will make you come back...

Friendly staff and very very good food at reasonable prices. My favorite is the oafwich, fried chicken cutlets with spinach, mozzarella, mayo, bacon, tomato, and fresh garlic on a long roll. It is possibly the best thing in the world. A must try.

Don't believe the hype. I am sure their pizza is great if you are drunk. Or, maybe if you have not had real good pizza. It's not terrible. it's certainly edible. Maybe it's even DiGiorno. Being a New Yorker I often laugh at those "It's DiGiorno" commercials. But I have to remember, for most the country, it might actually ring true. Philly is not king of pizza by any means, but they have better than DiGiorno and Powelton Pizza. If you're okay with okay pizza, go for it. I'd rather hit up Colonial if I am sticking with the University City area.

Their BBQ chicken pizza is awesome. It's a sweeter BBQ sauce that goes well with the tomato sauce.

This is an amazing pizza shop. We had a vegetarian pizza which was beyond believable good. I am trying to replicate it for dinner tonight. It had perfect soft but crunchy pie dough, perfect amount of tomatoes sauce and wonderfully cooked veggies. The veggie wrap was a bit too much juicey, so you might want to ask them to go light on the sauce on that one. The staff was extremely helpful with suggestions and tolerating questions and food preferences. On street parking is available. They use level up too so you can get benefits by eating there. It doesn't get any better than this.

This pizza was actually very good. I got the chicken wing and the mozorrella/sausage. Both were nice big slices and the cashier was extremely friendly and patient. I came here to use level up credit and that was no problem, I'd definitely come back when I'm in the neighborhood. I had time to spare for lunch because I was dining alone and it was not uncomfortable doing so at Powelton Pizza. I think everyone should be a fan on the History Channel when it's on in public. People tend to think of the areas of West Philly outside Penn and Drexel as more run down than usual, but this restaurant is in a very nice neighborhood with a lot of up and coming byobs. I can easily see that this is a regular spot for a lot of Drexel students. Quick, easy, and delicious Powelton Pizza has my stamp of approval.

The pizza here is pretty bad. Cheese is borderline flavorless and the crust is inedible. It's hard and chewy and in my memory the only crust I have ever been utterly unable to put down. Their veggie pizza is topped with liberal portions of everything but it's mushy and looks overcooked -- what gives? Okay, I've had worse, but Powelton Pizza doesn't deserve the business of any self-respecting pizza-lover. If a drunk bite is what you seek, try Allegro's or Wawa.

I must first preface this with the fact that I have only eaten pizzas from here when they are provided for free at school events. That means I have no idea how much is being paid for them. Still, this pizza is so mediocre. Sadly, I find myself still chowing down because I'm so dang hungry. I guess that means it's not THAT bad that I can't even eat it. Overall, though, I'd never order this pizza for myself on my own dime. The crust is boring and tasteless, serving only as a receptacle for sauce and cheese. The cheese is plasticky and mostly tasteless. The sauce may be the only thing going for the pizza since you can at least taste it (it's relatively sweet, but I like that). I wouldn't ever recommend this pizza to friends, but when it's free at events, I'll keep eating it...sigh.

This is one of the places that gives West Philly pizza its reputation for generic taste and poor quality. Powelton is one of several pizza places between 34th & 62nd, that serves everything under the sun, but has no personal flare to any of it. What makes Powelton Pizza even a downgrade from the norm is the fact that they're only open/delivering at random, which makes the very unreliable, and detracts from calling even in those rare instances where you need a place such as this.

This place has a really good meatball sub and great prices. There are usually like two guys working in the kitchen and 90's music playing on their TV. It's best if you can eat outside at night. Then you can smoke with the delivery boys.

Cute place. Nice, friendly staff. The food was not great, sadly. In fact, it was pretty bad for the price. Note: I did not get a pizza. I got a wrap. So this is in no way a not-endorsement of their pizza, which seems to be a Divisive Thing on Yelp here.

I like this place! It's in the neighborhood I grew up in. The food is good, REALLY good actually and so are the prices. I would go back!

Love the wings and Hawaiian pizza here! Wings are cheaper than the other places in the area and are much better. Sometimes I'll go for their hoagies and fries and they never disappoint. They also have daily specials that covers a lot of their menu. Staff is very friendly as well. Overall the best pizza place on Lancaster Ave.

I order food for a lot of work-related events, and whenever I order pizza, I order from Powleton. The pizza is pretty good, and they have a good selection of toppings and specialty pizzas. They have a crazy vegetarian pie that, while a little indulgent for me, is always a favorite when I order it. It has to be one of the most topping-heavy, eclectic pizzas I have ever seen. If you're feeling adventurous, you should totally check it out. My favorite thing about Powelton is that they are very reliable for larger orders. I can call in an order in the morning, and it will always show up to the right location, with the right items, at the right time. I can't recommend them enough if you're ordering for a large group.

Love love love the pizza I had from here. I've never actually been to the store front, but I had a lunch meeting with their pizza, and I loved it so much that I went up and asked where the food was from. When I found out it was Powelton Pizza, I immediately looked it up and was thrilled to find out it's not too far from my apartment and that they deliver for $1.50! I haven't yet ordered from them, but I plan to once I get a couple friends to get together for pizza night! I had a slice of the white pizza with ricotta cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. I'm not the biggest fan of pizza sauce, so the olive oil, garlic, basil, oregano and cheese combination was perfect. I plan to try more of their pizzas soon, so I'll be sure to keep you all updated!

I've been getting pizza from Powelton since back at my days at Drexel..their upside down pizza kept me feed for many many poor college kid days. Since being back in the area, I have had samplings of many of their awesome pizzas. My favorites are still the upside down, but also the buffalo chicken, memphis pork, BLT and most recently their summer salsa. I found out they were using locally sourced ingredients when I picked up my CSA down the street. I've had a few other menus items...the Oafwich is outta control late night munch sandwich and the cookies rival the Insomnia cookies. I also saw they started going green last time I was there. After talking to the owner Brian, I found out he really cares about doing the right thing for the environment. In today's world, finding a business owner like that is pretty hard to come by. Overall, great food, nice decor and killer customer service.

The veggie pizza is great! Also, fyi, the owner is a really nice guy that cares about the neighborhood!

This is the only pizza place on Drexel's campus that has toppings like goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes. Therefore it is like a foodie oasis in a greasy desert. This place rules.

This place was godawful for delivery. We ordered a side salad, a chicken salad with goat cheese and a white pizza with goat cheese, chicken, and pesto. The "salads" were little more than chopped iceburg lettuce (who even *pretends* like that is salad fare??), the goat cheese that we paid extra for was minimal and tasted like nothing (give me some TANG, people!), the chicken tasted totally overcooked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for ages, the salad dressings were individual packet's of that cheap "Ken's" brand stuff that has zero flavor other than a bit of vinegary-ness and a whole lot of saltiness, and to top it all off, it was pretty darn expensive. I will not be ordering from here again.

Powelton Pizza is FAST and cheap. I don't know if they still have it, but they used to have a $11.99 2 large pizza deal, and they'd get it to you in 20 minutes. The pizza was among the best in university city, too. Haven't tried the rest of their menu, though.

Every time my school orders food for some event, it is Powelton Pizza. By the time I graduate I'm going to have pizza PTSD. The renovated outside of their new shopfront looks lovely though, so there's that at least.

They recently fixed up the outside of their shop so that it didn't look like a hovel anymore with lighting, new signs, a coat of paint and even a few tables outside. Now that it's pretty on the outside, PP seems to have taken all pizazz away on the inside. Of course, I moved out of this neighborhood almost a year ago, so I have no reason to go here anymore. But, last night I was back in Powelton Village on a cat feeding mission while my friend is out of town, and we decided to get calzones so that we could eat and hang out with the cat at the same time. SUPER bad idea. I know that the kids who work in this shop are generally the stereotypical "hippy stoner burn-outs that hang out on the grassy knoll over there...", but the level of service is just ridiculous. The girl on the phone actually started yelling (seriously yelling) at my boyfriend and repeatedly asked him if he really meant to call Powelton Pizza because he ordered something a little bit wrong. Reminds me of Kid Nation somehow... It also took forever and a day to get our calzones, which are apparently not served with sauce on Monday nights (other visits with this order has yielded sauce). Plus, the calzones were just cheese and the topping you specified--no garlic, no spices. It was just bland and blah, and that's unacceptable. I'd still get the oafwich--their signature chicken strip, bacon, mayo, spinach, tomato and garlic yumminess which somehow was not on the last menu I saw though they still serve it--and the last pizza had of theirs at before-mentioned kitty's house was pretty darn good. The oafwhich alone saves them from a 2-star rating. Jake P. points out that they have random hours...I must clarify this as they are not open during Drexel's semester breaks, holiday times, etc.

Of all of the places in the neighborhood, Powelton Pizza makes my favorite pizza. It is for the pizza that I am giving five stars. I love the thin crust pizza, and usually, it is delivered in a timely manner and hot. (Their barbecue wings and steak sandwiches are also very good.) I've never been in there, but the people on the phone have always been nice and polite, and I have never received an incorrect order. The prices are cheap, so that makes Powelton a winner to me.
