Perfectly decent Gyro. I've had lots of gyros that have disappointed me. Gyros that were gamey or dried out. Meat that had been sitting out for who knows how long. On the flipside, I've also had super tasty and juicy gyro that's perfectly cooked and seasoned. Or that has a tangy tzaziki sauce that makes up for it. This place's gyros are just simply somewhere in the middle. Although the tzaziki totally makes up for the otherwise average sandwich. So, if you come to the RTM and are in the mood for a gyro, you won't be super sad. But there are plenty of other better options at the RTM. Staff is super cool and service is quick. There's a nice bar seating area too.

Reading terminal is full of great eats and Olympia gyro is no exception. The specialty here is big gyros with lots of tatziki and big fluffy pitas. It's a satisfying, rich, yet quick lunch spot. Definitely one of my go to food stands.

I love this place!!!! Get the gyro and add feta - heaven!!! they will fill you up, too. The meat is DEFINITELY slices though (like it should be) so not sure what Peter (below) is describing as "chunks" ???

This place has the best Greek Salad I have ever had. It's honestly the highlight of my workday when I can head over to reading terminal market and get the Greek Salad. It's a salad that comes with chicken and a hard boiled egg and it actually fills you up. A salad that you can eat and not be hungry an hour later. I highly recommend this place.

Salad was fresh. Never had Greek food before the server told me to get the gyro platter I did and it was great. Service was awesome the server was a hottie too :)

I actually came to eat here after stopping by with my cousin the week before when she wanted a gyro. The lady there was very nice and we got into a little talk about my shirt; Filipino organization at school. I got a normal gyro which was pretty good the first few bites; I love the white sauce. After eating maybe half of it though, it was just okay. My brother (he had the chicken gyro) & I both agree, however, that it'd be really good with just all veggie. They diced up their veggie and with the white sauce it was very good. Maybe I'll actually go back and see if they have plan veggie ones. They also have baklava that I would love but wasn't in the mood for sweets.

I don't have a ton to say as I've been here only once, but I was definitely happy with the Gyro I got. They had it ready almost instantly and the pita was warm fluffy perfection. It was a little too expensive, but so is everything else at Reading Terminal (except OK Produce with it's varying levels of freshness). Today I was in the mood for a gyro and I left satisfied. If you're looking for the best in the city I'm assuming there's at least a few better spots, but if you're planning a trip to the Market then why not give Olympic a try. I'll probably wander yelp in search for the best cheap gyro and if Olympic comes out on top I'll definitely have an update. But for now, 4 stars for the yummy gyro. And hey they take credit so that helps with the price.

This place has the basics, but that's all it needs. My boyfriend and I split a chicken sovlvaki yesterday and relaxed a bit, watching the Saturday craze at Reading Terminal. There were several open seats during our pit stop, but we were there between prime lunch and dinner time anyway. I'd definitely stop back sometime.

i am picky. i am a female, so being picky is pretty much in my DNA. but, i have a few additional quirks: i don't like sauce or dressing on my food unless I put it there. the ratio is never right when someone else does it. except when that someone else is the guy behind the counter at olympic gyro. i was a little hungover and a lot lacking sleep, so i forgot to request the tzaziki sauce on the side when ordering the gyro. whoops. luckily the amount of sauce, and toppings were perfect, and i couldn't have complained about a single thing. except i wish I had more. the gyro was tasty, served quickly, and devoured in minutes. would i come back specifically for one of their gyros? nah. it was pretty standard- not outstanding, but definitely a good, solid choice. no complaints from this girl.

Gyro. That's it, the end. For year's I've dreamed of having tasty meat shaved from a rotating spike that resembled the Doner Kebabs of Europe! Now at last I've found it! This may or may not be the best hangover resolution meal ever constructed! Fresh gyro, crisp veggies, creamy white sauce, and plenty of hot sauce to go with it! Add in some fresh french fries and it's ready in 3 minutes? Yes please! The Combo is great and affordable, comes with a gyro, fries and a drink! If you're in the mood for something healthy (honestly, a gyro isn't that bad for you!), you can opt for a greek salad, which is gigantic. Check it out, but don't tell anyone about this place, I don't like having to wait in line!

I was craving something fresh and light and settled on Olympic. I ordered the veggie sandwich, which I assumed would be falafel. Turns out it's a pita filled with lettuce, tomato, onion, tzatziki, and feta. Kinda...missing something. The service was fantastic, though. Quick and super friendly.

I came to Reading Terminal to do a little shopping and grab a bite to eat. While I love gyro I wasn't particularly set on getting one that day. I moseyed around and noticed Olympic Gyro is now Olympia Gyro (because of the Olympics actually throwing a stink about it). So because of that and my love for gyro... I knew this was where I would be giving my money to. Awesome. Absolutely Awesome. Pita was warm and slightly toasty. Sauce was perfection. Not too much not too little... with a nice flavoring to it. The meat... oh the meat was perfection perfected. Honestly as I'm writing the review I'm thinking about how it was a top quality gyro and now how I should head on over there for lunch today.

This is the best gyro I've had in Philly. Super classic, fresh shaved meat strips with a hearty serving of tzatziki, onions and tomatoes. The bread is always super fresh and delicious and it is SO QUICK. We always go on the weekends during the most crowded times and we never have trouble finding a seat at the wrap around counter and our order comes out in literally seconds. The Irish guy at the counter is super efficient and I always see him cleaning all of the equipment which is awesome because I'm sure that stuff gets greasy really quick. We've had both the gyro sandwich and the gyro platter and they are both amazing. The gyro platter is a deconstructed gyro (pita cut into quarters and piled with meat, then onions and tomatoes on the side, with a cup of tzatziki) and comes with a super standard Greek salad with feta and olives. It's a solid meal and I really like having the salty feta on the side and being able to create my own little sandwiches. They do take credit cards and you can get cups of tap water if you ask- and you're done in 15 minutes and can move on to the rest of your shopping. Someday we'll try the chicken souvlaki but it's so hard to when the gyro is so good!

I was pretty bummed with my gyro the other day. The tomatoes were mealy and there wasn't enough tzakiki sauce. I was wanting some lettuce too but there was none. I got some fries that were just ok. I will give it another try seeing that a lot of people like this spot...

Olympic Gyro, or technically now 'Olympia Gyro,' has been on my radar ever since I heard about the US Olympic Committee submitting a cease and desist order to them. Seemingly ridiculous, the 30+ year institution of Greek eats had to change their name, lest it impact the financial bottom-line of the Olympic sponsors, such as McDonald's and Coca-Cola. Instead, the hard-working owners had to fork up thousands of dollars to change the name of their eatery. In any case, I had a hankering for a great gyro with succulent meat and creamy tzatziki, so I stopped by Reading Terminal Market. Who knows, you might find some Vikings and Marie Antoinette out and about, supporting local Philly theatre! But let's get back to the Greek eats! I was helped by a lovely lady, who I assume was Mrs. Voulgadis, the wife of the proprietor. Lamb Souvlaki ($7.50) Sliced lamb, fresh pita, fresh tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki Something you can find easily on the streets of NY, it was a familiar sight to see street meat turning on a spit. The lamb was sliced off the spinning spit and was surprisingly not dry at all. It may not be the juiciest or freshest that I've had - but pretty decent! The grilled pita was delicious, soft, pliable, and warm. The bite of the onion is subtle and not overpowering. A perfect vessel for the awesome tzatziki, which was creamy and garlicky. For all the naysayers who say the purveyors put too much tzatziki on the gyro - get off your high horse and take it off then. For those of you who like the sauce, they offer small containers of the stuff for about $2. Chicken Souvlaki ($7.50) Chicken cubed, fresh pita, fresh tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki The grilled chicken was juicy, moist, and well seasoned with pepper. And of course, the ripe tomatoes, fresh grated cucumber, and that delicious tzatziki made the sandwich. Spanakopita ($4.75) I couldn't leave a Greek joint without trying their spanakopita. I appreciated that they reheated the spanakopita in a steamer for you. The crispy, buttery phyllo bound the well-seasoned spinach, which had a subtle kick to it. The salty feta melded beautifully within. French Fries ($3) While I wished these were Greek-style fries and seasoned with oregano, they were certainly crispy. They also offer old bay fries as well. Regardless, pretty small for $3! Olympic Gyro offers NY-style Greek eats, along with a deliciously creamy tzatziki. It's nice to see that they were able to forge on through after their fairly recent run-in with the US Olympic Committee. While I've certainly had better, I for one was certainly satisfied with this quick and affordable option in Reading Terminal Market.

In the reading terminal where's there usually a 10 min line at everystand at lunch, one should be weary of a food stand with open counter space. Being in a rush we sat down and took a chance. I don't like that the meat is pre-carved and sitting in a chaffing dish, but I was eating here during the lunch rush and this might be essential to quick service. Typical food truck quality gyro sandwich (that's a good thing, not a complaint). Nice flavoring throughout the lamb, fresh and bright sauce with a very generous portion, pita was warm and fresh. The Chicken gyro was seasoned just as well and served moist (so often it's dried out when you order it in a gyro). Service was quick and friendly, and all at a very reasonable price of $20 for 2 people with drinks. Not "fine dining", but a fine option for a quality lunch, and the lunch truck experience without the fear of eating at an unknown truck and the comfort of a lunch counter to eat at!

four stars for the gyro, bonus for EXCELLENT customer service. In a place as chaotic as RTM it would be easy to go all soup nazi with your approach. I appreciate this place for being super friendly and serving good, fresh, tasty food. So go to Olympic Gyro, tell 'em Big Texas sent you cuz he lika the juice.

This place has got pretty darn good gyros, but it's really hard to get a seat and service. If you've got an abundance of patience, I suggest you try it out.

Almost every time I come to Redington Terminal Market I grab a gyro from here. This place has great Greek food and the gyros are to die for. Huge huge fan. The staff is super nice too. The prices are fair. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area

Tucked away in Reading Terminal Market, this gyro place is easy to miss in the crowd of other food stands, and my meal was similarly unremarkable. I ordered a chicken gyro platter, which comes with pita, salad, and tzatziki. Maybe my mistake was ordering chicken instead of beef/lamb, but the gyro meat itself tasted (and looked) a bit rubbery, and was already getting cold by the time I sat down to eat. The food was certainly palatable, but nothing exceptional.

  • Brian S.

Good gyros. Make sure to save room for the baklava...it's homemade.

  • Rachel S.

Jury Duty sucks, but at least you get to have lunch at Reading Terminal if you feel inclined. I was craving something cold that would involve meat, veggies and a sauce. I strolled up and down the aisles and found Olympic Gyro and immediately grabbed a seat at the counter. I ordered the Gyro Platter (see photo) with a side salad and it was amazing!!!! It totally hit the spot and I couldn't finish all of it, but it was awesome!!!

    (4)
  • Basil M.

Not impressive. It was a mediocre gyro and fries. I've had much much better. The lady at the register was also extremely rude and got pissy with me when I needed a receipt. I won't be back.

Another solid reading terminal option, it's really not fair to have so many quality options in one single space. I don't know how the tourists do it only picking one spot to go with in a visit, you could spend a whole week on a food-cation in RTM sampling the different options. I saddled up to the counter for lunch the other day and took a recommendation to go with their greek salad. With chicken it was over $10 which seems steep but this salad is what I think Seinfeld was referencing as, "the big salad." I'm always a fan of throwing a hard boiled egg on salad and they offer hot sauce too which I can never turn down. Besides the price another star has to be docked for my ultimate service pet peeve. It took them a while to put my salad together and after taking one bite I was asked if I want anything else followed by being given the check. I get it, they want the stools turned over at lunch but 1 minute into my meal? Come on now.

I was recently introduced to the Greek Salad from here, and since it has become a twice a week staple in my lunch time rotation. The salad is $8.25 and huge for the price- comes with a ton of feta and a warm piece of pita bread! I think my only complaint is that the lettuce mixture seems like it is from a bagged mix vs freshly chopped (come on, you are in RTM, fresh ingredients are so easy to come by!) I haven't had any of the other greek specialties from here, but from the looks of people's plates that I check out while waiting, they look to be delicious!

    (4)
  • Kelly P.

a tremendous amount of food for what you pay. RTM has a variety of options and usually i go for thai, but when the need for greek strikes this is a solid choice. they have baklava too!

Great food, very tasty. The gyro platter was awesome. The staff is very helpful and nice, and the kitchen and eating area are spotless.

Three words: Chicken Souvlaki Sandwich When I am craving a gyro, this is one of the places I tend to lean towards. Olympic gyro makes what I would describe as the, "freshest," gyro. The meat isn't overly seasoned and the tzaztiki sauce is amazing. I love sitting down here in the middle of Reading Terminal Market and housing down one of these bad boys. Needles to say, the portion sizes are large and you most definitely will not be walking away hungry. Be sure to grab a side of fries but careful, those tempting slices come off HOT HOT HOT! I think I burn my mouth every single, delicious time.

    (4)
  • Sylvia O.

Great option at Reading Terminal. It only takes them a few minutes to get you your food, and the seating opens up quickly even if it is crowded. Get the combo (drink, sandwich, and fries). It is the best deal.

  • Moon S.

Yummy gyru..bit pricey st $8.25 but worth it....they load it with meat! :) great pita bread

  • Peter N.

Very good gyro in my opinion. It's made faster than a food cart - pay, they assemble right before your eyes, it's in front of you before you sign your credit card slip. Very efficient. What I really like other than the sheer volume of the gyro is the fact that the lamb is in chunks, not thin slices. So it's a hearty gyro. $8.25 is a bit steep, but the pita and ingredients were on point. And you get tons of cucumber / tatziki sauce. Definitely not for those who aren't a fan of sauce. Fortunately I am, so I gobbled it all up! In the chaos that is Reading Terminal Market, I've found yet another place I enjoy!

The Reading Terminal Market has so many great places, it can be difficult to decide where to eat. After strolling around for a while, we became quite hungry and this place looked like a good option. I ordered the chicken souvlaki, it was prepared quickly and it was quite delicious! I defintely recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

    (4)

Gyros are delish! The tatziki they use is really good (and healthy right?) Great for a quick bite in the Market when you don't feel like waiting in line at DiNicks for hours.

just ran over to Reading Terminal for lunch and tried Olympic Gyro for the first time. The sandwich was amazing. I got the Gyro special with fries and a soda for $10. A little pricey but the sandwhich was amazing and definitely hit the spot. They are just inside the 12th street entrance. High recommended

I had the beef and lamb gyro. I don't even eat lamb, but this was good. Not only that, they were quick. And since it was the lunchtime rush, that is an important quality!

Today I tryed a gyro from Olympic for the first time. IT was ok, nothing special but not bad either. If you looking for a pretty good fast food gyro I would recommend The Greek Lady in University City.

walks into the reading terminal... the boyfriend wanted to try a gyro in my mind i was thinking wth is a gyro.. my sister walked us to this place "one gyro please" comes out this massive looking gordita from taco bell omg... first bite i fell in love!!!! it was soo flavorful!! they give you sooo much meat and the meat is like seasoned to perfection.. then with the creamy sauce on top of it.. mmm.. thinking about it makes my mouth watery..

Satisfied repeat customer. I always enjoy eating here when I'm in RTM and craving some Greek. The owner lady is always nice and the service is quick.

EH. I mean if you are hungover on a Sunday and live next to Reading Terminal Market this is pretty much the only time I would recommend this place. The food is truly subpar, how do you make a gyro tasteless? I don't know, but they do. The prices are also astronomical $12+ for a (small!) chicken gyro and a (small!) side of fries! Really?! Follow it up with some surly guy taking your order and barking at you. Yeah. Just keep walking.

Before going to the auto show, we stopped at Reading Terminal Market. My daughter wanted a gyro and we had lunch here. The place was packed but we got our gyro in less than a minute. It was like "2 gyros please." And then it was sitting right there. I like quick service, but that was a little too quick - how can you cut the meat and make a sandwich that fast unless it was pre-made. The gyro was okay. A little light on the meat and heavy on the tzatziki. I'm giving it 3 stars here because my daughter liked it a lot. I think it's a little less than a 3 star.

Good Gyro - fresh and hot. Interesting set up - lots of hyper activity from staff. Keep your cool, be patient and your lunch will be on its way.

    (3)
  • Missy B.

The gyros were decent, but kind of over priced. The service is okay. Depending on the day and how busy it is, the workers can be a little rude. I would probably come back if lines were too long at other options in reading terminal. Nothing special.

  • Arlen K.

It will always be Olympic to me LOL. Olympia Gyro has THE BEST GYRO in a 40 mile radius!! Family-owned, family-run, family-friendly. Gyros, souvlaki, and Greek salads OH MY! Nice, thick tzatziki; fresh, soft pitas; perfectly spiced gyro meat. (Excuse me while I swipe at my drool...) Consistently a great lunch experience. Shimmy up to a counter and talk (between large bites) to the business person on your left or the tourist on your right. Keep a lot of napkins handy, and ENJOY!!!

    (5)
  • Karen F.

the gyros are the best thing they make ($7 - and 4 stars). The spanakopita is not that good. Greek salad was OK - but not mind blowing. With all the fabulous choices in RTM (and trust me - I love greek food) I usually find myself drawn to Thai or some other place over Olympic. A big plus - they have their own seating so at least you know if you get a (tasty) gyro there that you will usually be able to get a stool to sit and eat it on.

  • Travis L.

Wonderful stand at Reading Terminal Market. Timely, on-point service and fast gyros. Fresh, crisp fries. + for the gyro special! 10.75 for gyro+fries+soda. The gyros were so-so. I liked the meat, but it was unbalanced with too much tzatziki. I wasn't too big a fan of the meat. Thick-cut, but really could be better seasoned and better cooked. Wasn't as hot as I expected it to be when it is cooked on the rotating spindle. Pita was also straight out of the bag. Disappointing.

    (3)
  • Ronnie D.

Excellent Gyro!!! I know the owner, the sweetest little lady you'll ever want to meet. She is responsible for the best baclava I've ever had.

    (5)
  • Christine B.

I pretty much went here based on their acceptance of level up. I got the gyro platter. The fries were pretty weak, but the gyro was decent. The meat was flavorful and juicy, the pita was soft, and there was a good amount of sauce. There was a little too much onion for my taste, but overall I though this gyro was fine, not something I'd seek out, but an option.

    (3)
  • John Q.

With so many options at the Reading Terminal, I often find myself just going to the one with the shortest line. This is how I found Olympic Gyro. My girlfriend and I managed to get 2 stools at their counter and ordered a lamb gyro. It was ready in 10 minutes and definitely hit the spot. The meat was fresh and there was just the right amount of Tzatziki. The gyro was large enough to share and the price was right for what we got. The service was speedy and watching the people make your food is always a plus. I would definitely come back again.

  • Bill M.

Since the Reading Terminal is so big there are a lot of places inside it that are pretty easy to forget about. But thank goodness Amanda's review reminded me of here because it might just be have the worst Gyro I've ever had. I've forgotten about it because it was also one of thhe first Gyro's I've ever had. But compared to others (South Street Soulvlaki!) that I've had it just doesn't do the sandwich of the gods justice. It's pretty much just your below standard fast food quality. Even still I could give them 3 stars for good service. But the fact that they treat spinich pie and spanakopita the same way is pretty barbaric.

    (2)
  • Frank S.

Three of us stopped here for lunch while at the Philly Car Show. We all got the gyro special - a lamb gyro, fries & a soda for $10.75. The gyros were great loaded with thick cut meat & veggies. The service was beyond fast. We placed our order and in less than 3 minutes we were eating. A great quick stop when in the Reading Terminal Market.

  • Steve D.

My Gyro was great, loaded with meat and had loads of really good cucumber yogurt suace on it....i really loved it and could eat one every week if i could. Yeah 7 bucks is pricey, but what's not pricey in the Terminal? it's all good, and i'm just glad thay cook the meat proper on that spindle thing. reminds me of being in Istanbul. The spanikopita was of, not moist at all crispy it was and pretty tastey ...can't say i would know how to rate it...it was good goin down though. If anyone reads this and knows where to get a proper Turkish doner please let me know!!!

Reading market terminal in general and olympic gyro in specific are one of my fav spots in philly... next time in town, do try the gyro platter... the serving is really BIG so bring your appetite with you.

  • Alex I.

That filipina waitress is awful! She gave bad service and is very rude. Food is pricey for amount of serving. Taste is mediocre. I've had better gyros. Skip this. I won't go back.

After a pork sandwich down we felt another snack in this foodie heaven was needed. Such a major decision. Pondered between cheese steak, gyro, german stand or corned beef. The gyro won. What a delight. the sauce tasted homemade, the meat is spinning right in front of you and a nice flavor. Would try again but too many options in Reading Term for me to repeat. At least not until I work my way around!

Maybe I'm expecting too much for $7, but Olympic Gyro was sorely disappointing today. Lured by the $7 Reading Terminal Lunch specials and a love of Greek food, I headed to Olympic Gyro for the spanakopita & Greek salad special advertised on the terminal's website. I should have been wary upon seeing the squares of spanakopita under the heading "Spinach Pie", covered in cling wrap and looking both burnt and soggy looking all at the same time. I should have been wary when the guy who took my order didn't seem to know what I was talking about when I asked for the spanakopita/Greek salad combo. Another worker did, but the first guy still seemed pretty confused. I probably should have just eaten it there and not had it to go, but I was in a hurry to get back to work. Granted, they did heat up the pie, at least, but then it was put into the same plate as the salad, which was absolutely swimming in oil/dressing. By the time I got back to the office, I could have eaten the spanakopita, which should be a glory of crispy flaky phyllo, with a spoon. It was also pretty tasteless, on top of the fact that it was as wet as a mop. The salad was also disappointing. Again, I probably shouldn't expect too much for $7, but it was quite obviously the prepackaged salad that you buy in bags at the supermarket, right down to the curly red lettuce and matchstick carrots, and simply topped with soggy tomatoes and chopped onions. Not terribly Greek, all things considered! The dressing was overwhelmingly salty, so much so that it even drowned out the taste of the feta cheese and the one lonely olive. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things and should have stuck with a gyro, but I was REALLY in the mood for spanalopita, and now I really don't feel the urge to give Olympic another try.

  • Adam M.

I actually really like thier Gyros, but that is the only thing I have ever gotten. If it wasn't for the $7 price tag it would have been 5 stars.
