I came here on a weekday night when Duvel was giving away free glasses for anyone who bought the beer. Not my favorite beer by a long shot, but the glasses were sturdy and quite pretty, so I sucked one up for the team. Aside from the unfortunate experience of drinking the aforementioned beer, their beer list is good and service was fine. My date and I had the duck spring rolls, which were sadly sub-par. Greasy and tasteless. All in all a standard joint, and not a bad choice if you're in the area looking for a couple of brews.

The pulled pork here is amazing, and so is the mac & cheese (who knew!). I'm still not in love with the look or the vibe of the whole place, but the food was great and the service was very good, so I'd have no issues with eating here again.

This place reminds me of a restaurant in my hometown of Kalamazoo called Aries London Grill. Aries was expensive for the area and liked to tout how British it was but the reality was that their fish and chips tasted less authentic than the mom and pop greasy diner down the street. It is as if they just transported Aries to Philadelphia. This place serves the same turkey-burger-with-fancy-cheese food as any other place with the same presentation and same lousy service. The difference is that it's decorated in wood and they serve Guinness. I HIGHLY suggest just walking down the block to Bishop's Collar. Better service, better prices, better beer selection, and better food.

I like to come here and chill out with a few cocktails and something to eat. I come here when my boyfriend and I want to come to our neighborhood very familiar spot and just chill out. Especially for happy hour and sundays. I say that this place is good when you just want to let you hair down,

Small servings coupled with under-informed poor service across multiple servers has made this a "once and never again place".

I came here after the lunch rush, around 2/2:30pm on a weekday for a late lunch. The service was decent and the food was pretty good. I had the grilled chicken and brie sandwich. It was messy, but I ate all of it. A couple of downfalls: when I used the restroom, there wasn't any soap (ewww) and when I told the host about it, he just shrugged it off. C'mon man! Also, I ordered a soft drink, which is usually rare for me to order anything but water, and I was charged an exorbitant amount for each drink. A soda was pretty darn expensive and not worth it. All in all, I might give this place another shot, and just stick to water. Or beer.

Just got back from London Grill. I've been to the bar a few times and have always left saying 'hey we should really try the food here sometime'. Finally got around to that. I was surprised by the number of people in there, it usually seems dead to me. The service was really helpful, our waiter knew everything about the dishes I asked about. Started with the nachos which I typically use as an indicator on how good a place is. They were decent, nothing to write home about with a sweet tasting cheese sauce and somewhat brown guacamole which was very flavorless, could have used some spicing up. The Carolina Gumbo which consists of a tomato broth with carrots, onions beef and lamb was tasty but again needed some added spice, it was a little flavorless. My friends ordered the burger (with boursin and bacon) and the BBQ pork (with a side of collard greens and mac n' cheese). Both enjoyed their dishes, the burger was perfectly cooked and the BBQ sauce on the pork was surprisingly sweet and tangy. I went with the duck quesadilla which I enjoyed. Quesadillas in general are usually a pretty disappointing order and I couldn't decide at the last minute but these things were bursting with flavor. Again, it was overall a decent meal, probably my first and last time eating there but I'll definitely be back to the bar more often. Check out their happy hour from 4-7 which features $3 beers, wine and cocktails and also $3 appetizers. The beer selection is pretty diverse and I typically go with the Rogue Dead Guy in a bottle (reasonable at $4).

The London Burger with boursin cheese and grilled onions is by far the best hamburger in the neighborhood and I've never tried anything else from the dinner/lunch menu so I can't comment. Beer selection is solid as are the bartenders. The bar area is a bit overcrowded at times and it sometimes caters to an older clientele. The breakfast is hit or miss but tends to lean more towards miss. The first time we went we had their signature dish, which was some sort of pesto green thing, and it was delicious as was the whole breakfast. The second time we went the breakfast was both burnt and undercooked and wholly inedible.

Go during Happy hour great beers on tap and decent prices. If you can go on a Monday, Meatball Monday is SOOO good. Service is slow or it would have got a 5

30 dollar salt lick. Pretty much that's how I would describe our brunch on Saturday. London wasn't busy. And for some reason I usually never hit it up for brunch...now I know why. We were the first customers that morning but it seemed like the wait staff was churning butter in the back to make our meal. The service was super slow...and food I had was extremely salty. I love salt...so this means what I ate was pretty much salt lick. For similar pub grub at a bit cheaper prices I'm always happy with the Bishop's Collar. London is good for a cocktail and that's about it.

We had brunch in here after going to the Eastern State for a tour. I have to say it was okay. The food was just not the best I ever had for the price. The waitress was horrible. My daughter ordered mac and cheese off of the kids menu and it was ice cold. We told the waitress she took it back and didn't return with another one until we were all done eatting and it was still cold. So, not only did my daughter have cold mac and cheese everyone else was done eatting. Overall it was a cute place and I would have liked to tried the dinner menu but the service just wasn't worth it to go back.

Always trying to live up to my "+1 extraordinaire" role, I was Mikey I.'s +1 to his official Uwishunu review of London Grill. Dimly lit inside, the place tied together almost perfectly the feeling of neighborhood bar and nice restaurant. We both got the customer appreciation 'surf & turf' special ($19 for the meal); Mikey got filet, I got lobster. The special includes a starter salad, entree, and delicious chocolate mousse dessert, and they have $5 glasses of wine to pair with your meal. All in all it was great food, EXCELLENT service, and a nice atmosphere.

I've eaten here a few times and never been disappointed. The vegetable trio served on the lunch menu changes daily and is made with fresh local vegetables. The one I had was incredibly delicious and I'm not even a vegetarian. I just can't imagine finding a more delicious meal that's actually healthy. They also have great burgers and fries....yum. I will agree with others about the service being slow at times but that's my only complaint.

The front bar is HOT. Not hot like the good "haught", but so hot we sweated off our appetite and decided to go somewhere else (which wasn't a bad thing because it was about 45 minutes before we saw our waitress again). Anyway, food is ok & overpriced. The beer selection, outdoor seating & proximity to other restaurants is where this place really shines.

Delicious plates! Well stocked bar and a nice array of beers make this Rustic corner spot a must go to. You can tell the chef has a great grasp of food and also a wonderful, exciting and colorful concept for their dishes. Happy hour specials are great too!

London Grill is my neighborhood bar, and I usually sit at the bar or in the bar area when I'm there. Great beers on tap, excellent London cocktails, and always friendly bartenders. This is my "where everybody knows your name" bar. My go-to dinner is the London Burger with brie and bacon and it will fulfill your burger craving. The cheese and charcuterie plate is always a great pick, and it's a good share plate if you're not super hungry. I highly recommend London if you're in the area - it's my first pick in the neighborhood.

I have been here for dinner, happy hour, drinks, and brunch and I have never been that pleased. Service is always okay.. sometimes better than others. The happy hour martinis are poorly made but some of the beers are a deal. The do have a nice beer and wine selection though. Their bloody mary bar at brunch is fun but not worth the money in my opinion. The food is good though.

I live in the Fairmount neighborhood and have had a drink at London on a bunch of occasions, they have a great tap list and the environment inside is agreeable. I haven't eaten there before 9pm ever but I've been told it's a completely different experience than the one I had this evening which was...pretty meh- bad. I work in food service and our server was lovely, I've had her serve me before and she is always quick with a suggestion and usually is managing the place by her lonesome and does a job of it. I asked her to suggest some menu items for me since I was too tired from working at my food service job to even decide with my friends what to share. We ended up with the periogies and fish and chips...I couldn't have been more disappointed! I couldn't believe the small portions for the money they were charging. I have no problem spending money on some really great food, I love food! I eat it everyday...sometimes more than once. The periogies were oily and covered in carmelized onions, also oily and bland. The fish in the fish and chips was a little soggy, at least not frozen but not fried well and it was on a bed of sad, limp fries. For $15 we got TWO...two, medium to small sized pieces of fish...that is literally robbery, white fish is not expensive and neither are fries, the markup on this dish is outrageous. The tartar sauce was nothing special and even the vinegar tasted bland! Could it have killed them to put a dash of salt and pepper on the plate? I don't know who they have working the kitchen late night (not even late night at 9pm on a Friday) but I will NOT be back there to eat after a shift. I'm willing to try it out in the midday when it's been suggested to me that the main chef is working and he does a great job of cooking the food properly. Just sad that a neighborhood spot can't hold it's own for some simple bar food.

This was my first time at London Grill. Went on Saturday for brunch. Not impressed. When we arrived we were instructed to choose any outdoor table. We figured this would alert a waitstaff member. It did not. We waited for quite awhile before tracking down a bus person to send someone over to at least drop water at the table. That was pretty much the theme of the meal. I had to refill my own water from the outside bus station and service was poor at best throughout the meal.

To start, let me mention that I'm only reviewing the bar and the late night menu. I've heard great things about the restaurant, but I've never eaten lunch or dinner there. Main point: This is one of my two favorite bars in Fairmount. A laid-back establishment, London gets my vote because they offer a decent choice of local craft beer alongside imports and the occasional cask. With regular specials including $3 drafts on Monday, it's a place to visit often. In detail: As a small, neighborhood joint, the London is a close tie for my Fairrmount favorite. Because of it's size, the cozy feeling it generates, and the awesome staff, it's much more welcoming than other local bars. Although it can get crowded at times (the World Series was the most packed I had ever seen), it's still a relaxed place even with every seat taken. Most nights offer a special deal, the best being $3 drafts on Monday, and $3 local brews on Tuesday and Wednesday (Stoudt's and Flying Fish) - although the later two deals may have changed as the Sunday Belgian deal has. While you'll occasionally see cheaper draft nights at other bars, you won't be getting the same import and craft local beers. With most grills, the vegetarian options are few. I've had the vegetarian dishes available, and the nachos are pretty damn good for not specializing in Mexican cuisine. Other options include salads and an eggplant Parmesan sandwich. The only thing I would like to see change is a more frequent rotation of the draft beers - perhaps more casks or special additions. Lack of local/regional brews is a deal-breaker for me, and London does not disappoint with this requirement of mine. Usual locals include Yards, Philadelphia Brewing Co., Flying Fish, and Stoudt's. Great food, great beer, and great atmosphere make the London a can't-miss for awesome specials and and a laid-back experience.

I go here for happy hour since its in my neighborhood. Mini bar treats (i.e. sliders, duck spring rolls, a fish and chips, etc) go for $3 between 4-7pm, and draft beers go for $3 between 5-7pm. Im not a fan of how the bartenders ask to close the tab by 6pm for the shift change... especially when on several occasions, the bartender neglected to bring out the glasses of water we ordered or failed to place the order correctly (having the burger served with a normal kaiser roll instead of on an English muffin). Anyway, theres nothing outstanding about their food, though the brick chicken is unlike anything Ive ever had before!

I love this place, everytime I go there it's a good time. The food is pretty good, when I ate meat it was one of my favorite burgers. My girl Kelley works the bar, and she is one of the friendliest bartenders I have ever met. I can't wait to go there again

I've never eaten here, but the beer selection and price impressed me. I really liked the crowd, the music, and the staff. I know London is the sleeper of these neighborhood bars in Fairmount, however, I've always had such a good time, that I've been hesitant to venture anywhere else. Wednesday is "Deep Note" night, breaking out all the Funk, Soul, Hip-Hop, and Deep House you can handle... I stand by it.

When I was spending more time in the Fairmount area, I was always disappointed when we ended up going to London. The food is uniformly bland and overpriced. (I'm thinking of the time I ordered a turkey BLT, expecting turkey bacon, and instead got a thick turkey sandwich with bacon and lettuce. It was like biting into nothing). It's usually fairly crowded around the bar area at night, and during the summer, it's all right if you can grab a table outside. Service is mixed. The bartenders are usually nice, and there's one waitress who would occasionally comp stuff for us since our friends went there a lot. Never had a problem with them...but things can occasionally be REALLY slow, even on slow nights. But the drinks, oh, the drinks. They have delicious girly mixed drinks with absolutely zero alcohol content and extremely high prices for the tiny portion sizes. One night I wasn't in the mood for beer and had about six or seven mixed drinks on an empty stomach... totally sober when we left, but my wallet was reeling and punch-drunk. I do like that they have added a lot of "old fashioned" type cocktails to the list, and the Calvados Sidecar that they make is indeed very delicious, but again-- I'm always disappointed when we end up going here.

London Grill is a solid downtown Philly bar and restaurant. The food choices on the menu tend to be quirky deviations of standard bar food. I had brunch there yesterday and the brunch prices were quite reasonable. I actually loved the make-your-own bloody mary option. Using a baseball reference, this would not be my first choice out of the bullpen but, definitely a reliable arm that I wouldn't hesitate using if all else fails.

    (3)
  • Stevie S.

The happy hour drink specials only apply to those in the bar area. Those seated in the restaurant or outside cannot partake. Lame The service is absolutely awful. I let it slide during the snowstorm due to conditions but I have been back twice since and our waitress was really mean. mediocre over-priced food, no thanks!

    (1)
  • Rachel H.

The beer and atmosphere carry London when their food is pretty good but pricey. They always have interesting, local beers and often have 'cask' beer available. They have a great little bar and I have spent many a night there hanging with friends, very chill. As for the food, it's pricey for a neighborhood bar/restaurant - the nachos and potato pizza are both good.

  • Sophia S.

Disclaimer: I LOVE the bloody mary bar here during brunch. They bring you a shot of vodka of your choosing and you can go create your concotion with a few different mixes and tons of spices and add-ons. They even have some appetizers (stuffed tomatoes, peppers, jerky). It is the one redeeming feature of London Grill. However, every time I've been here the service has been really bad and the food nothing special (in some cases, downright bleh).

The Burger used to be good, but not anymore. The place is over priced. The food takes a real long time to come. Don't go here. Go to kite and key.

Our group of five had dinner on a recent Monday night, without reservations, and enjoyed excellent service and great food. No, it isn't Le Bec Fin or anything world-class, but if you are looking for reasonably priced, tasty American fare, in a comfortable environment with prompt and friendly service, you'll find exactly that at London Grill. In my party, we tried the calamari (perfectly breaded and cooked, with an usual but good Asian-oriented dipping sauce and peppers) and also the "Monday Meatballs" for appetizers. For entrees, the sirloin steak was a great cut and cooked perfectly, as was the duck. I don't recall what else we got for entrees, but everyone seemed happy, and again, the service was spot-on. The beer selection is also awesome!

I have been at the London Grill twice, and one of them was for Passover dinner. I thought it was pretty nice that you could enjoy a holiday dinner there, specially if you could not be with family, at least you can share with others there. The food was good, and service was adequate. I may need to go back to get a better sense of what this pub has to offer.

this update isn't a positive one. most things remained the same, except the service got crappy -- as in I had to wait five minutes to find a server to flag down so i could get a fork to eat my dinner with and my dinner-mate got the wrong entree. and the food got crappy too. everything was bathed, nay, drenched, in oils. and my beloved cheese gnudi were smaller than i remembered and very much overly salty. i have to say, i was pretty disappointed. in my mind, london grill is now a meh or miss.

This place really got on my bad side the first and only time I've been there. My boyfriend and I went there for dinner and happy hour and decided to sit down at a table in the dining room because it was his birthday. We were informed after we ordered our first two beers that happy hour only pertained to the bar area and not the dining room. What kind of rule is that? We were one of two couples in the dining room, and I think they could have put our drinks on happy hour. That was a turn-off. Then, I ordered dinner, which took a while to come out and ended up being pretty crappy. I don't even remember what I ordered, but I do remember that I was not thrilled about it, and neither was my boyfriend about his meal. I will definitely not be returning here.

I went to London Grill the other night with a friend. We arrived around 9pm and the place was relatively busy, but we were promptly seated. This is my second time to LG (I've previously been here for brunch with the parents). Honestly, I've had no problem with the service. Our particular server seemed overwhelmed, so another waiter stepped in to help her. Our meals were served fairly quickly - within 20 minutes of ordering. After a 12 hour shift at work, I had the best meal of the day at LG. I ordered the Roast BBQ pork which came with collard greens and macaroni and cheese. It's easy to screw up collard greens, but these were tender with a spicy/vinegar punch. The pork was cooked to perfection - moist with no hint of gristle. The barbecue sauce was equally tasty and didn't evoke the flavors of bottles sauces one bit. The macaroni was also delicious. They smartly avoiding "dressing" it up and stuck with ooey-gooey cheese and tender elbow noodles. My friend was equally pleased with his fish and chips. Their selection of beer is pretty impressive and this is one of the few places that seems to carry Strongbow cider (which they serve in a HUGE glass). Needless to say, we had a great time. The atmosphere is inviting and the atrium is a great place to sit even in the winter. Jeff is a great bartender and I was glad to have John and Brighid as our servers. I've definitely had no problems with service here.

I work on the block where London is, and my experience with them consists of a few happy hour visits and some take-out beer for clients. The staff has always been very sweet. Sitting at the bar itself is sort of uncomfortable, the leg room is way too cramped. But they have great small plates available at happy hour, including a $3 fish and chips, with a generous handful of fries and one decent size breaded piece of fish. I have made it into dinner on a few occasions. I have yet to even look at the full menu.

OK, I hope this makes sense -- I found London Grill to be your average above-average pub food restaurant. Make sense? The food was good, nothing to write home about...same could be said about the decor/atmosphere (although maybe its funner later in the night?). Actually, now that I think on it, I do remember commenting to my boyfriend that we seemed about 40 years too young to be dining there (we're in our 20's)...the crowd was old, something I was not expecting. But onto the food. I had a tasty mulligatawny soup. The first time I've ever had that type of soup so I can't really critique it. Also shared a special of a aort of dumpling as an apperizer. They weren't quite what I was expecting & unfortunately that was not a good thing. They weren;t bad, just not very great. My entree was gnocci telefono. Eh...the gnocci was simply average at best, the tomato sauce was s'possed to be spicey but wasn't at all. There was also fresh mozzarella in the dish which was also just OK. The service was fine, although maybe a little overbearing. My particular server just seemed way too excited about getting our dinner. Looking over my review I think I retract my initail statement about it being "average above-average". It was simply OK food in general. If some friends wanted to go back for a bite I would't say no, but I also would not really make any effort to make a quck return either.

So, I've decided this place is hit or miss. Some of their items are great! I really enjoyed the beet salad. They have excellent calamari that is lightly fried with along with sweet and hot peppers and a sweet and spicy sauce. They also had a steak salad with spinach, fried oysters, and roasted potatoes that I loved! But, alas, it's no longer on the menu. That's the catch 22 with this place. Their menu is seasonal which means things are fresher, but it changes frequently so your new favorite dish may not be there next week. They also run out of things sometimes. Last night I went to dinner with my mother. The waitress informed us they were out of calamari, the lobster burger and the lobster roll as well as some other bar menu items. (How do you run out of lobster items when it's lobster week?!?!) I ordered the lobster bake (on of the few lobster items they had left) which was nothing to write home about. My mom had the cubano sandwich which was supposed to have pulled pork and ham but seemed to be missing the pulled pork last night. On a positive note, London, does have a nice bar with a good selection of beer and alcohol and it's nice to sit in the solarium area for dinner or brunch and people watch. All in all, I haven't given up on this place. I live in the neighborhood and it's very convenient, but with all the new places popping up in Fairmount, they're gonna have to be more consistent.

Loved the bloody Mary bar (how could bacon infused vodka be bad) but wasn't impressed by the service. We ordered roasted beet salad, Nutella pancakes, shrimp risotto, French toast and sides of house made sausage and scrapple. Mixed food reviews: thumbs up for risotto, beet salad and sausage; thumbs down for pancakes and scrapple. Table service was slow and inattentive. All in all, it was okay but wouldn't go out of our way to go back.

The other night I decided to give London another try. My decision is made. The service is consistently below par and the food is inconsistent. If you are in the mood for an expensive burger you found your place (but for a good burger a block away try Rembrandt's). If you are in the mood for a nice meal, receiving what you ordered, or food and drink in a timely fashion I highly suggest trying the other restaurants in Fairmount (Illuminare, Rembrandts, Zorba's).

word on the street is this place has awesum food. so we all stopped here for dinner. i was starving and although i was craving korean food, we stopped here. word on the street is wrong. unless, you live on crazy street. my fish and chips were eh. the chips were super salty. i had to drink like 3 glasses of water to just make it through my meal. the seasoned mushrooms they brought out with our bread was ok. i mean, how hard is it to sautee mushrooms?! the bread was white. the water had ice cubes. the tuna was ok. the place is cozy enough. our waiter was attentive and nice and not too pushy. oooh, my dessert was apple pie with caramel and pecan ice cream. it was ok. i felt it was nuked. all in all, i was disappointed. this place ain't cheap and i thought for the money we paid, the food here would unlock some foodie high. no such luck. i was told their brunch is rad, but i am pretty much not believing that word on that street. i trust my tastebuds.

This is a great neighborhood-y grill where they have a prix fixe menu for $30. You get 4 courses starting with a seared sea scallop, an iceburg wedge salad (w/ blue cheese and tomatos), a 3 to 4 oz portion of hangar steak with french fries and creme brulee for dessert. My boyfriend was stuffed full and couldn't finish his whole meal! I had the duck spring rolls and a horseradish crusted salmon cooked to temperature. I really loved the salmon. I was totally stuffed but I still managed to gulp down a moist chocolate brownie served with mint ice cream and caramel sauce. The ice cream was so tasty that I ordered more. With 3 beers and 2 shirley temples, and a glass of muscat... the total bill came out to $102 for the both of us. It might be a little pricey to come down here on a regular basis but... I totally had a good meal and would order all of it again. Our server was a bit nervous and inexperienced but she made up for that with a sweet disposition. It's a great place for parties of 4 to 6 people. It's warm, cheery, and in the cute neighborhood of Fairmount. There's a paid parking lot across the street but if you're lucky, you might find street parking.

I really enjoyed this place! Half of our party was late for our reservation, but we were still seated right away, and brought drinks and a snack we didn't even ask for. The wait staff is excellent and timely. If I could complain I would say the appetizers took a little longer than I would have hoped for, but it only built up my appetite even more, which was well worth the wait. Food and drinks were very good and filling. Price is reasonable; worth it. The atmosphere and crowd varies from couples, to families to parties. They have a Bloody Mary bar which was fun! Funky little place!

London Grill serves bacon ice cream! That should be enough to entice anyone to come try this place. They have a very comfortable and casual dining ambiance. You'll feel right at home here whether hanging out with a few friends or celebrating an event with your family. The waitstaff is very friendly and eager to explain just how each meal was crafted and by whom, whether it be the delicious herbed olive oil, the amazingly rich and decadent gnocchi or their interesting bacon ice cream. Toward the end of my dining experience I requested that my meal be wrapped up but instead it was not brought back to the table. The waitress and hostess both came over and apologized profusely bringing back a sampler of delicious handcrafted ice creams which included the bacon one. That was a very nice touch and I will definitely be dining there again and spreading the word about their great food and service.

food is way to expensive for this place. decor in main dining is grandmaish. its not the quality isnt good, i just dont think that they have found their niche for their type of restaurant. they mix too many flavors for meals that could be good; so it makes you not really want to pick anything. I would stick w/ simple appetizers or get the steak (the house steak sauce amazing). also drinks and customer service excellent.

Nice little bar in Fairmount. The decor is typical British pub - wood and brass. It's not terribly crowded on weekend nights, so it's possible to get a stool at the bar. The staff is nice, and I got a French beer that I'd never had before, which I liked immensely. I'd definitely go there again. It was also easy to get the bartenders' attention, which is great on the weekends when most bars are so crowded it's barely possible to order anything.

terrible. London Grill??? Exactly what does this place do that is british? Unless British equals lousy service, dirty and a menu which looks like it was created by someone with no sense of taste.

Once upon a time in a land far away, I was a little wild. I know, hard to imagine, yet true. This review centers on one of those times. My friend lives in the neighborhood, so I've been here more times than I can count. Another friend called it "The Sipowitz Bar" and I'm still not sure why. The food is solid and the drinks are strong and reasonably priced. The last time I was here a severely drunk guy with his relatively normal friends at the table behind us. On the way out, drunk guy walked up and said "If I weren't so drunk, I'd ask you out." And I said "If you weren't so drunk we might take you seriously". Ok, but here's the real story. When I was living on the east coast (and wild), one of my friends lived in SF and the rest of us would celebrate her birthday without her. One year her birthday coincided with a friend's husband's birthday, for which she had rented out the upstairs room of the London. Since it was such a fancy occasion, we made a 15 inch cutout of our friend in SF (we'll call her Cutout J) and took her out for the night. Cutout J was a huge hit as she posed for pictures down other people's pants and shirts, pictures of people licking her, pictures of her hanging out with the monkeys painted on the wall of the upstairs bathrooms (I have the photos, I know I wasn't imagining them). The waiters working the party were in love with Cutout J and asked to keep her. I said sure, as long as they didn't throw her away. Her parents went into the bar a couple of months later and noticed a 15 inch cutout of their daughter hanging out with the bottles behind the bar. That, my friends, was a high point in my career of fucking with my friends. Well, that and the time that Cutout J's parents threw a party at the London and I convinced Cutout J that another friend of ours had just gotten engaged at the Hard Rock Cafe in Philly after her boyfriend hired a mime to mime out "will you marry me?" Yes, I'm going to hell.

one thing you can count on at london grill... the service will suck. while i've had a decent meal here once or twice, the service is always lousy. one time my party of four was kept waiting at our table with no service. after about 15 minutes, my sister went up to the hostess and let her know that no one had been over. after another 10 minutes without anyone saying a word, we decided to leave. the food wasn't good enough for me to go back to chance an evening like that again. there are too many good restaurants in that area to have to waste your time here.

London Grille is a Fairmount landmark that at its best had palatable food and tolerable service. You can get pretty good food if you're lucky and not so great food on another day, service will always be less than stellar. I would always put it on my list as a default place for lunch or brunch if I got shut out at my top choices. But after waiting 25 minutes for lunch one balmy afternoon at an outside table and being told by the server that the food will be out when its ready without a word of explanation, they're not even on the default list. Is it just me or is telling a patient customer that the food will be out when its ready pretty much the same as, "ask me if I give a sh*t"?

One of my favorite places to come to on a warm evening. The food is delicious, drinks are far from weak and the staff are some of the friendliest I've ever encountered. As I already said, I prefer sitting outside (good for people watching), however love sitting in the pub area as well. Looking forward to visiting again this summer!!

THIS REVIEW IS FOR FAIRMOUNT FOOD CRAWL ONLY The Mrs. and I made a plan of attack and I will be honest that I did not think we would succeed, but we made it to all 14 locations and got to sample all 14 different beverage samples. SPOT 1 This was our first stop on the food crawl adventure. Made in plenty of time, we sat while the staff were finishing with the set up then bellied up our way to the chafing dishes. Food - pork skewer, pulled pork + pineapple taco, bacon brownie. Drink - Blackberry Bramble The food was very tasty. Could have been a bit hotter, but was a great start to the day. The drink was pleasant enough liking a hot summer day better than a cool late morning.

Went to dinner last night and was unfortunately not very impressed with the food here. We started out with the arugula salad, which was the best thing we ate. Moving onto our main courses - I ordered the grilled chicken and Brie sandwich. Careful if you don't like horseradish!! The honey mustard is chalked full of it. I was a little disappointed for not being warned. My gf ordered the London burger. The toppings were great. The burger meat tasted more like meat loaf to me. She ordered it medium and of course, my biggest gripe, came out well. Also had the side of baked mac and cheese - nothing special. Bummer!

I've always liked London Grill. The older building is charming, the food has been good and they have a nice draft beer selection. They are also a hub for social events like Bastille Day and Philly Beer Week. It's been ages since I've dined there, but my recent bar experiences have gone a little downhill. I think the servers cover the bar area as well as outside, so they are not nearly as attentive as they could be. The length of time between check-ins is a little long and the high-top table guests don't seem like the biggest priority. Despite the less than attentive service, the staff I've encountered has always been pleasant and they have a great retention rate among their bar staff. I feel some of these employees have been around for years. They've updated their menus in the restaurant but not online. It's obviously not a rule their website must be updated, but it does lead to disappointment for this plan-ahead menu stalker. With that being said, I still enjoy the food and there's enough fun stuff going on over there to keep me coming back. It might be due time to visit the dining room.

I want to give this place 4-stars because I eat here so often, but I simply cannot. The staff is friendly, the beer selection is great. The Bloody Mary's after a long night of drinking are also delicious and refreshing (and I don't even like Bloody Mary's). The menu is small, but to the point. The problem with this place lies in the consistency. Sometimes I come here and get an incredible meal; other times I come, order the same thing, and it's crap. The London Burger is great. It's good quality ingredients, served on an English Muffin (nice unique little touch), but too many times has my "medium burger" come out completely rare. More than anything I really WANT London to be good because most food in Fairmount is average, but sadly they are falling into the same category.

In town for a yearly race and last year we randomly stumbled upon London Grill. What a great find!!! First experience was lovely, 4-5 star quality. Unfortunately last weekend was a totally different experience. Service was incredibly slow. We ordered 2 bloody Mary's and the fried pickles and headed inside to the make your own bloody bar that we fell in love with a year prior. Everything looked the same so we were quite excited! When we returned to our table it had been cleared. We were literally inside for 2 minutes and my purse remained on the table. The hostess was apologetic so it wasn't a big deal and we were about to consume the best bloody in town! Sad to report the pickles were completely limp and lacked flavor and although they mirrored olives the olives did not taste like an olive. They had a metallic undertone. The pickled carrots weren't enjoyed as well. Disappointing because all these items were overwhelmingly delicious a year prior! I didn't even finish mine. After a long wait, the fried pickles arrived. We each tried 2 and didn't touch the rest. The pickles were super slimy and all different sizes. Some were thickly sliced, others super thin, not a good idea for the method of frying! They didn't even stay together when we tried eating...gross. Our server finally returned so we elected to close out our tab and dine elsewhere. After reading recent reviews I'm not alone with saying that London Grill has gone down hill. :( Disappointed especially because this place was pure magic a year ago!

Tried the crab bolognese fettuccine and it wasn't bad. Nothing amazing. My friend's burger looked better and my girlfriend's fried chicken sandwich definitely was. I think I ate more of that than my own meal. The waiter was super friendly and helpful, suggesting cocktails for my girlfriend to try. She liked everyone he recommended. The sidewalk patio was nice and I'd recommend sitting outside when the weather permits.

Dining Partner and I strolled down Fairmount Ave on Sunday morning around 10am looking for a brunch spot. We were hoping for outside seating and once I spotted the fried chicken and biscuit (with egg and gravy) on the menu at London Grill I knew we needed to stay. We plopped ourselves down at a table. I ordered my dish and Dining Partner opted for the Eggs Benedict. I also ordered a raspberry iced tea which was really freshing. Before our food arrived, the waitress brought out a small plate of fresh baked sweet bread and a few small pieces of fruit, a nice touch. The service was good and the food was solid. A decent brunch spot, especially if you're looking to sit outside and people watch.

First time here, not sure if I would come back to drink. Just sitting down for a relaxing happy hour after work. The beer glasses are warm making the beer go south quickly and the well drinks aren't very strong. Grant it they're cheaper than normal drinks but they also use cheaper whiskey so I would expect them to be slightly more liberal with the "cheap" liquor.

The food was impeccable, but the waiter definitely made the experience more difficult to enjoy. First off, they lost my reservation I had made weeks prior to the date. Luckily, they were still able to seat is but losing the reservation was a bit off putting. When we ordered our wine, the one we ordered was no longer being served because our waiter gave us an older drink menu. When we asked for the updated one, he gave us the same menu. No big, we just ordered a regular wine but still seemed a bit weird. The bread was served cold and it was difficult to make any additions or substitutions to the menu items with the waiter agreeing. But once the food came out, it was all worth the hassle! We got simple vegetable dishes that turned out to be AMAZING. The food here made up for, for the most part, the relatively poor waiting service.

I come here for Monday night Quizzo and their awesome kale salad. It's filling, but not filling to the point where you're uncomfortable and angry you can't finish your beer. Great beer selection. I'm an indecisive soul, the awesome bartender on Monday nights suggested I get the Ol' Fashioned Willie. It was an excellent cocktail drink with beer - no complaints here. Quizzo itself is great, consisting of 4 rounds. It never gets annoyingly crowded and the crowd is nice and non-cheating. Cool place. Nice neighborhood feel. I do wish they had more specials during quizzo though. Did I mention it has interesting bathroom décor?

Beer is great! Food....burnt nachos, skimped on toppings. $11.50 for a plate of half-black (literally) chips. Other food was ok(McDonald's ok), fries are great. Chicken is dry and flavorless. Come here for the bar and fries. Staff is fast and friendly. Great atmosphere.

Well, I've been there for breakfast with their Bloody Mary bar and it was good. The food was great but the Bloody Mary bar has spice girl figures on it which i don't understand. Tonight, I went to the bar and ordered a Bloody Mary. It was white. That's right. It has so much horseradish in it that it was white and not red and they served it that way. It wasn't drinkable sadly.

I was coming from a long day at the Eastern State Penitentiary so I looked around the neighborhood for a unique place to eat at. Stumbled upon this place and thought it was cute and cozy. It definitely had an antique bar vibe. The waitress/bartender was really nice. The food was average. I got the grilled chicken and brie sandwich. It was good but the honey mustard was more overwhelming than I expected...I think it was horseradish sauce because definitely tasted like wasabi and burned my nostrils! The fries were good (well seasoned). My boyfriend got a lackluster omelet and a big bowl of mussels. The mussels were okay. Overall cute neighborhood cafe.

Came back again with high expectations but very disappointing. Will not be back. Bloody Mary bar is still nice but the veggies (pickles, pickled carrots, olives) all seemed old and as though they'd been sitting out too long. I ordered a specific vodka off the menu hat was clearly $7 and was charged $8. Minor but annoying and wrong. Server tried to sell me on an infusion which was more $$ .. No thanks. Service was friendly but soooo slowwwwwww. Ordered fried pickles, the only fried food I'll indulge in.... Complete disappointment. Pickle slices were massive, poorly cut, different sizes, all too thick. It became pickle mushiness inside the fried breading, and literally fell apart completely when we tried to eat them. Over cooked and poorly executed. Disappointment all around.

Place has gone downhill. Was very good a few years ago. Right next to historic Eastern State Penitentiary, it appears they are embracing their surroundings by serving prison food. Fried chicken burnt, roast pork sandwich dry and bland. Very disappointed. Was looking forward to a good meal. Nothing special, just good. It was not.

Three words = Bloody Mary bar. Snagged a table outside for a pick-me-up during brunch on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. I was craving a good Bloody and was super stoked that London Grill has endless options for Bloody Marys including house-infused vodkas, pickled vegetables, a plethora of hot sauces, etc. And brunch-goers: you get to be your very own mixologist! And the cherry-on-top = there are Spice Girls Barbie dolls watching over you as you concoct your Bloody. BOOM. All my tweenage + adulthood wishes come true!

Cute bar/grill in Fairmount, everyone was friendly and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. I only had drinks an appetizers here, but the entree menu looked good, and I would like to return to try it, the fish and chips at the table over looked like they would make the venture worth it. Sadly the wine list is definitely wanting, but what did I expect from an English style pub? The beer list is clearly much better, lots of choices for every kind of beer drinker. Onto the food, the calamari is top notch and comes with fried peppers (huge plus) and a spicy, vinegar kind of dipping sauce, different and not too heavy. But you must, seriously must get the foie gras pierogies! They are crispy on the outside, the foie filling is buttery and rich and the combination is just perfect along with the sweet sauce. I could eat them every single day - go, try them, you won't be disappointed.

I had a very enjoyable experience at London Grill. I went during beer week, so there was no shortage of delicious brews to choose from. They were offering a few Brooklyn Brew drafts, and since that's one of my favorite beers, I was a happy camper. I ordered the ricotta gnocchi which I very much enjoyed. It was cooked with pancetta which was delicious. The cheese they used was of a very good quality. Oh and the olive oil concoction they give you for the focaccia was delightful. All this and close proximity to a wine bar? I'll certainly be back.

Have been going to London grill for about 10 years . today it was the pits...I will never go back. Food was BAD . She had the duck....all fat...my comp was 10%..wow $500 . the tuna tar tar wasn't good, it was gray not RED as tar tar should be. I gave it one star just like Mickey D's...what happen to Nicole the old manager.

Was here the other night and chose to eat outside. My friend and I were both craving burgers so we both got the London burger. Burger itself was cooked to satisfaction and was quite tasty but the English muffin was certainly a curious touch as a bun. No big deal, but as expected it didn't hold up to the burger so I would have preferred a regular bun. Server was semi pushy, in an off putting way, which kind of made this experience worse than it should have been. Overall it was incredibly mediocre.

Hate to start off with all negatives, so I'll say this. We were given a table promptly at 5:10 on a Monday night (we were dining with our daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law . . . the little one requiring dinner NOW). We were seated by a pleasant server and we were looking forward to a nice dinner. Drinks game about 20 minutes after we ordered them and our meals were served 55+ minutes after we placed our orders. Four of the five orders were served with the remaining one served 10 MINUTES later. I ordered a London Burger (basic hamburger) medium. When I looked at it I was shocked. WELL done and dry as a bone. No juice whatsoever. My wife ordered duck spring rolls . . . DRY AS A BONE. My daughter ordered a vegetable platter . . . none of which she could eat. Granddaughter (not a picky eater) took one taste of her grilled cheese sandwich and fries and asked to go home to eat. I tasted her dinner and agreed that we should leave. Daughter and son-in-law had been to the London Grill before and thought it was okay, but now none of us will return. SLOW service and poor food on a slow night.

Always love coming to london grill. Great service, great food, and fantastic atmosphere. The beer is delicious. Currently drinking yards Cask beer which is amaze. Outdoor seating on a sunny day along with their lunch special which is the sandwich of the day (grilled shrimp deliciousness) along with a house salad and fries. Come here all the time at night too for a lovely drink at the bar. I highly recommend coming here !

We've lived within walking distance for over a year, and surprisingly, last night was our first London experience. I waited all night for something to knock this down from five stars, but I couldn't fault a single thing. We snagged great window seats at the bar, our service from Kelly was fantastic and fun all night, and the food was far better than I expected. I had never heard of a duck hot dog, but seeing as I love duck we ordered it as an appetizer. It was really interesting, had a lot of flavor, and the homemade relish was excellent. Also, I really enjoyed the fries and they were not oily. We both ordered the burger with boursin cheese, caramelized onions and bacon. We are admittedly picky burger snobs and love to test restaurants on how well they can handle a Pittsburgh Rare request. Low and behold....London nailed it! For me, this is a tie for the best burger we've had in PHL with the Oyster House. Since we had fries with the hot dog, Kelly let us sub out for a salad. I really liked the house salad and it was substantial in size. The beer list has a wide range: everything from lousy domestic to usual suspects to odd crafts. Also, I noticed a lot of duck on the menu, which intrigues me. After SPTR really pissed me off a few months ago and I vowed to never go back to my favorite bar, London may very well become the new go-to spot for us.

The food was pretty good, truffle-parm frites were delicious and my baked mac and cheese was on the better end of Mac and cheeses. Beer selection was decent, but the thing that made me rate so low was we waited for probably 25 minutes before a server came over and it was only after my second time asking that a manager, who was really great and helpful stopped by to take our drink order. Service was fine after, but it's frustrating to wait that long just for some water to start.

I can't believe I've lived in the city for 7 years and have never been to London Grill. The reason is probably because it's in fairmount and I rarely find my way into that neighborhood for food. The overall experience was pretty great for a Sunday afternoon. Beers were $5 - $7. They have everything from Miller lite to Weyerbacher. The food was pretty good. The nachos were made with the perfect mexican style chips and a delicious salsa. I believe the cheesesteak was on a sarcones roll which is easily the best in the city, if not the world. The fish and chips were true to the English pub style. Perfectly dipped and fried cod and hand cut fries. The Korean fried chicken wasn't my favorite though. It was a terribly small serving that lacked crispness. Reminded me of chicken nuggets with a bottled chili sauce. Wasn't feeling them. Overall I would def hit this place again, but I would be more strategic with my ordering.

If you want terrible service from a rude condescending waiter London Grill is the place for you. My favorite part was when I asked to have the salad that I had before my meal wrapped , the waiter brought back to me in a plastic bag and dangled it in front on my face during the middle of my meal. There was no where for me to put my to-go bag expect for on the window ledge next to my head. So romantic and comfortable eating dinner with my boyfriend with a plastic bag next to my head. Out waiter also suggested add-on's to our meal: when our order arrived nothing that he had suggested was done. When our bill came we were charged for it. I couldn't wait to get out of there. It was so bad that once I left I called to let the manager know. The manager wasn't there so who ever answered the phone asked for my name and number and told me that the manager would call me back. Never got a call back.

Pretty sure my $22 chicken entree was microwaved to cook it, and the mussels were mealy/fishy. Last time I was there it was good stuff, but this time was pretty darn bad. Especially for the price.

The London Grill has a nice selection of beers and it's a pretty cute place inside. It's a little small but it gives more of a cozy vibe rather than feeling overcrowded. I have really mixed feelings about the food. I've been here twice, about a year apart and the first time I came I had brunch. I believe we ordered a dish with corn pancakes and eggs and the hangar steak with hollandaise eggs and hash browns. The corn pancakes were extremely dry. I remember having to actually drink while eating it because of the dryness. The meat, potatoes, and eggs were all extremely bland. I honestly don't think they put any seasonings in the dish whatsoever. My second time, I ordered the culurgiones dish which is a sardinian style ravioli. It was a seasonal dish with a pumpkin filling and a brown butter pistachio sauce. This time the dish was super salty! The filling was really good and the sauce itself was tasty but I'm afraid that someone that isn't a salt lover would have sent this back. I definitely had to drink a lot of water after finishing that dish. The portion was also a little small (I believe there were 6 pieces on the plate, as a meal). My date ordered a burger and fries which he liked and we also tried the mac and cheese to share. The mac and cheese wasn't bad by any means but it's not something I'd order again. It was a little on the bland side. Overall, I think this is a cute spot to have a couple of beers and maybe get some fries to snack on but I wouldn't eat a meal here again.

A good bar to chill out in after visiting the Eastern State Penn down the road. We fortunately came in time for happy hour, which included mini bites. We were hungry so we ordered the mini fish & chips (delicious) and the nachos & salsa (meh). It's not somewhere I would plan on staying at all night but it's a decent spot to have a few pints with friends. The bus stop into city center Philly is right outside the entrance so stumbling back home is easy as pie.

Went here to get the Pumpkin Hot Toddy (with pureed pumpkin and Applejack rye), with high expectations. Maybe these high expectations are to blame for my "meh" review. After ordering, the first toddy out was made incorrectly (with pumpkin syrup, not puree) and the final correct one was pretty bland. I expected more spice and more pumpkin flavor. The drink wasn't even orange in color. For $10, I was bummed. Otherwise, it was a nice cozy pub to sip hot drinks on a cool night. Borderline-upscale vibes and creative cocktails and dishes make it worth a try.

Decent food/pub to stop by after exploring Eastern State next door. We came here because we were famished and in need of food. They have a solid happy hour as well as a basic bar food menu if you're not looking for anything heavy. Their beer menu is pretty intense and they have a lot to offer. For food we decided to go with mini fish and chips. The fish was good and HOT and the fries were addicting. We also split an order of nachos and salsa. The chips were meh but the salsa was nice and fresh. Their menu also offers tons of varieties when it comes to vegetables. They had fried brussel sprouts but we didn't try those. Overall, a good place if you're in the area and you're hungry. Service was friendly.

London Grill is a fine place to stop in for a drink- they have a huge selection of liquor and the bartender I've experienced was nice. Don't get tricked into thinking their food is worth trying though. We went in for brunch on a weekend. The menu itself didn't look that good- I had a hard time finding something to try. Two of us ordered the fried chicken sandwich and one ordered the steak and eggs. The fried chicken sandwich was actually fairly disgusting. The chicken was some gnarly dark meat and it was SO GREASY AND OILY I could almost feel it sliding down into my stomach. The sandwich had pimento cheese and coleslaw on it and I could barely taste them because of the chicken oil. The bread was pretty good but it was just totally ruined by the oily piece of low grade fried chicken. I also had like 3 different shapes of fries on my plate which confused me. Additionally, the steak and eggs were disappointing. The portion of steak was equivalent to what comes in a Taco Bell burrito. Thin strips of overcooked meat. It looked pathetic on the plate with two little eggs next to it. There are so many other restaurants for brunch in Fairmount, there is no reason to go to London's ever again.

Eh, this restaurant is ok. I want to like it because it's in my neighborhood and the prices are reasonable but I never get really wowed by the food or service. The food is just so so. I've never tried the brunch service/food so that might be better.

My new favorite neighborhood bar [technically I live in Brewerytown, but we don't exactly have many options there yet]. Bartenders are always super friendly and welcoming. Even though i'm a huge fan of craft beer, which they have great selections of, I am always enticed by their cocktail menu. Very original --- who makes their own black walnut liqueur?! These guys do, apparently. I haven't had a full sit-down meal yet, as I tend to sit at the bar and order small plates. But all the food I have had, so far, has been prepared with care and extra flavorful and tasty. I highly recommend the baked macaroni and cheese. Delicious. Leonard P should be giving you 5 stars for serving Foie Gras, not 1. =)

Came here for brunch and will not be back. The drinks were fantastic (bloody mary bar, mimosas, etc.), but the food was mediocre (flavorless and unimaginative) and the kitchen and service was incredibly slow. 3.5 hours for brunch? I'd rather not.

My friend and I spent much of Bastille Day at the bar at London Grill. The bartenders were friendly and in jovial moods. There were some liquor promo girls giving out free samples of product, which was cool. Once we decided we were hungry, I ordered a burger and my friend ordered parmesan truffle fries. The burger was curiously served on an English muffin-type roll, but it was pretty tasty. The fries that came with, along with my friend's fries, were room temp and not delish. She sent hers back but I had my burger so I was okay. A new batch came out approximately one minute later and they were definitely hotter but still just so-so. It's not often that I'm in Fairmount so I'm not sure I would go out of my way just to hit up London Grille. But if I found myself in the area, I wouldn't be opposed to stopping by, either.

The drinks are really good but the food is mediocre at best. I got the fried chicken sandwich ( bread was burnt) and my boyfriend got the chips and fish ( the fish had no flavor). I would go back for the drinks.

Great tasting food in a quaint place that does remind me of my time in London! Went for brunch today, but was here a year ago and still remember the delicious meal I had then - the best ever succulent brick chicken! Today's meal was challah french toast topped with pumpkin whipped cream. The flavor was A-mazing! Surely the 235th wonder of the world. Oh, and my waiter Joe was superb!

We liked it! He ordered the ribeye which was too fatty for me but great for him! The portion was huge. I got the kale salad (good, not great) and the duck spring rolls which were awesome. He also got the Mac and cheese which we both really liked. It was a few different cheeses and nicely toasted with breadcrumbs on top. Our food took a bit to come out but the waitress offered us free dessert, which we were planning to try anyway. We got the brownie with ice cream and it was so so. The salted caramel ice cream was too salty and the brownie should have been hot. The toasted marshmallow on top was cool, though. Good service, good food, I'd come back.

Ok this is very biased and partially my fault. If I find myself in the neighbourhood and I'm hungry I will try it again but order differently. Lesson learned don't ever go to a place called london grill and start ordering foods that are not common to the British tastes buds. I ordered a Sangria, Calamari and something else not Britishy. It was horrible.Period. Now it was probably my fault not going for the fish and chips, but i wasn't too hungry and just wanted a few apps. I also think the bar should be blamed. Why call yourself london grill and start serving up Korean BBQ wings. I mean seriously???? People come into your establishment with a certain expecation of the cuisine they are about to consume and you throw them a curve ball. I'm not trying to be stereotypical here but imagine going to a restaurant called Lee's Korean BBQ and find fish and chips on the menu... am I wrong here? I will come here again though, and possibly edit my review. All I gotta say is that the fish and chips better be the best in the city and better come on a newspaper.

After eating here for Lobster Month, I have to say I'm really impressed with how good it was, so I'm gonna up it to 4 stars. I still won't give it 5 stars for always being out of things and also for service that's kind of iffy. The common theme here seems to be that London Grill's special/seasonal food and drink menus are superb and their regular menu is just okay. With that said, my boyfriend got lobster pierogies and he said they were amazing. I tried a bit and the sauce they were in was phenomenal. I ordered the lobster burger and expected it to be like a crab cake patty with a lot of breading and barely any lobster meat but I couldn't have been more wrong or more pleasantly surprised. The burger was legit just a giant patty of straight lobster meat, nothing else, topped with an amazing lemon aioli and served with crispy, salty fries. I was so full I could barely move. For a $16 burger, it was totally worth it. In addition to this, the black cherry cider they served was definitely the best hard cider I've ever had.

I stopped in with my wife and a friend on a sunday. We sat in the bar area at one of the high top tables. The bar area was very nice. I like the wood and white tile look. I ordered the Fresa Salvaje and the Korean Fried Chicken. The cocktail was very good and the chicken was amazing! Little nugget sized chicken, breaded, and coated with delicious sauce. Looking forward to my next visit.

Haven't been here in years & won't return in this lifetime. Stale smokey retread from years ago with the worst Lipton onion soup muscles I ever tasted. Served with grocery store bread. A beet salad served with watermelon cubes & bad bottled tarragon dressing. The beer was good & the grilled calamari surprisingly good. How this came to $85/2 people with one beer a piece I'll never know.

I am so inlove with this places menu. Unfortunately my favorite foods seem to be seasonal specials. They have good craft beers, yummy small plates, and amazing desserts. This is one of my favorite places for brunch! The best thing? Their make your own Bloody Mary Bar. There are so many possibilities with the different types of vodka, the different types of hot sauce and multitude of different garnishes, you'll probably never get tired of experimenting.

I went here last night with my family. We decided to share multiple dishes, and ordered many of the appetizers. Most of the food was fine, some was really good, but for the most part I left feeling like I had drank a few cups of oil. Everything was completely saturated in it! Even the vegetable tapas (DON'T GET THIS) tasted more unhealthy than the potato chicken dish I ordered because all of the vegetables were absolutely drenched. Also on the tapas dish three of the choices were fried! I'm assuming that most people ordering a huge dish of veggies aren't hoping they're fried and battered - because then they'd just order the french fries. I won't be back for main courses, but the environment was nice and our waiter was great, so I'd come back for some drinks and fries.

Stopped in on Saturday night. The bar was understaffed - we had seats at the bar and it took 10 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge us. 10 minutes later we decided to leave. It was a mixed crowd, half filled with a bar crawl group. Everything we saw suggested nothing special was happening here.

Again, went to London on Friday after a long week. The beers were great as usual, service with Kelly was impeccable. The food tonight was fantastic, had the Korean double fried chicken, rather fantastic, then followed up with the dan dan noodles and the meatball sliders. All were great! Will be back soon.

Came here with a group of 10, all donning ridiculous costumes on Halloween weekend. I only ordered the Korean fried chicken, due to my face paint situation, but I ended up trying almost everything at the table. K-chicken - Meh. I thought it would be the double fried, spicy soy glaze that has become very popular in the Northeast, but it ended up being more like over breaded balls like Chinese sweet and sour chicken. But spicy. Kale kimchi - interestingly good! Nice texture and good level of spices, would try again. As I continue to write this review, I realize we ordered way more rounds of shots than I originally had remembered, and I can't recall all the dishes, some of which were excellent. I think there was a veal, and some mashed vegetables? Crap...well it was a good place to start our night!

Service was great!! Got a dirty blonde hoe to drink just cause the name sounded funny. Pretty good but sweet. I heard the London Burger was good so that's what I got! I had American cheese and bacon on it and paid a little extra for a fried egg on top, so bomb!! Def recommended and if your in the area check out the Eastern State Penitentiary right across the street

Very nice establishment with pleasant food and EXCELLENT service. This is the kind of place that I would go to just to have apps, a drink and listen to the music just so I could experience the service. Warm, friendly no frills servers with genuine smiles and intentions. The food was pleasant and quite edible. We had a special which included seafood over a nice risotto and the ribeye from the menu. The ribeye, although prepared well, lacked the quality of other comparable restaurants, but still good for a ribeye at an affordable price. Overall, a nice meal complimented by some AWESOME service. We shall return.

Few of my friends ended up visiting this place because of the bar. We got outdoor seating almost immediately which was really nice on a hot summer day. We ordered three flights of beers, which was all the drafts they had. It was amazing. We did our own beer tasting event. I ended up ordering the side order of Mac and Cheese, which was amazing. First of all, the side is almost the size of an entree. It had the perfect consistency of cheese and butter. I would go back just for the Mac and Cheese.

It's been a few weeks since I've been here, but every time my experience is always somewhat disappointing. Last time I sat with a bigger party for brunch and our service was SO slow. It felt like they were purposely ignoring us. I ordered the fried chicken and it was sooo over done. The time before this I ordered a burger (Medium well) and it was so overdone. It just seems like noone here cares... I give it two stars though because I have a pretty decent time when I have visited at night for the bar scene.

I really don't get why this place has only 3 stars. The food is good, atmosphere is good, service was GREAT, price is spot on. Also, they serve foie gras which pisses off those whiny, annoying, judgmental freaks. This was the second time we were there. They brought us a little plate of marinated mushrooms. They were tasty. Also, some homemade bread and herb infused olive oil. Nice. For apps we ordered bacon wrapped scallops, not exciting, but done well. We also ordered these raviolis in a nice cheesy sauce. Entrees were where they really shined. Gnocchi, holy shnikes. Incredible. Melting in mouth incredible. Short rib. One big one, served still attached to bone. Over some of the most wonderful truffle mashed potatoes and wilted spinach (garlic-y!) I have ever had. For real. On top of all of this, great beer list, fun cocktail menu, ok wines. Also, they coursed the food perfectly. Can't wait to go back.

My first experience at London Grill was more than a year ago, but I remember enjoying it. I probably had some kind of seafood or meat, and the back area had a good ambiance for a romantic evening. The second time was at an Xmas drinking event with many Bros and Whoo Girls in tow. hard to appreciate a place when you can barely move around. My third time was yesterday, and I can certainly remember that more clearly. Our meal didn't consist of much (meatball sampler, duck spring rolls, arugula salad - all quite good), but it did give me the opportunity to consider what I like about London Grill. As my good friend Mikel I. said before, part of LG's strength is that it works for all occasions. The back has the feel of a fine dining experience, the front of a friendly neighborhood bar. Yesterday, however, we chose to eat outside because of the weather. On a nice summer day, you can really appreciate the area - Eastern State is an oddly beautiful place to be nearby. (Or maybe I'm just weird like that). So what if we didn't partake in the happy hour specials (seriously, cry babies- go home); the beer selection was solid, and the food was good enough to have us eager to try more (should have got the gnocchi - it sounded great). Places like LG make me wish I was back in the Fairmount Area- you know, except for the crappy roommate situation.

I used to like London. But now I can't deal with it. The second to last time we came here, I had the most sickeningly salty, flavorless gnocchi on earth. The last time, we got up and left since the menu looked grossly overpriced and our meemaw waitress was talking to me like I was mentally ill. We got up and left and went to Rembrandt's and enjoyed a reasonably priced meal. Fairmount could use some more easy-going establishments. Seriously. I'm giving it two stars because up until sometime around September 2009, the food and service was decent.

The interior is eclectic, but looks a little seedy in the afternoon sunlight. I understand they are rockin' the English pub vibe, but that does not equate to dirty mirrors and a sticky floor. Our waitress was a lovely woman, but seemed overworked. An extra server during the good weather would help greatly and avoid a sole server literally running through the building to get to everyone. I ordered a bloody mary which was good, but not extraordinary and we both got coffee which was yummy La Colombe. For our bellies, I ordered potato latkes with poached eggs, smoked salmon, and a dill hollandaise. Hubby ordered the bagel with lox. Food was OK. My hollandaise sauce had a little bit of a skin on it (ugh) when it came out and my eggs were slightly undercooked, but when it comes to poached eggs, under is always better than over. Latkes were good, but again not extraordinary. And they gave me a side of roasted potatoes? A bit redundant with potato latkes; I would have preferred a salad. The bagel tasted a bit stale, but the lox were fresh all around. All in all, we did eat everything and left satisfied and very full. Not my top pick for brunch, but certainly not blacklisted.

I ordered the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and was pretty disappointed - the English muffins were overtoasted and hard, the salmon was skimpy, and I'm not even sure Hollandaise sauce was even present. Other things people ordered looked more appealing, so I could be persuaded to return, but it won't be for Eggs Benedict.

3.5 I've been here for brunch a few times, and occasionally for a drink at the bar. The most recent brunch was pretty good. I had the french toast which was kind of plain. I also tried the lemon ricotta pancakes, which I liked better (minus the pistachio butter - not their fault, I'm just not a pistachio fan). Their home made sausage patty was delicious. Service was good, and part of the reason I chose this location is because I've never experienced a long wait for brunch, even with a party of more than 2 people. My party of 3 arrived at 11:30 and were seated right away. As a bar, it tends to have an older crowd on the weekends (unless there is something like the bunny hop bar crawl going on, in which case it's almost always one of the stops).

I love the bloody mary bar. Everything i've had here has been great, however, I don't eat red meat. , the menu is somewhat limited to me because of this. I wish they had more options for me, i'd be here every weekend instead of waiting forever at Sabrina's.

To the obnoxious and arrogant douchebag who was clearly boring his date: nice job getting her drunk! Ahem. London Grill. I enjoyed it. This place looked warm and cozy from the outside -- then again what DIDN'T on that cold, cold evening -- so much that I wanted to check it out for happy hour. Boyfriend got the cheese plate for us to snack on while filling our bellies with deliciously hoppy beer -- on my end at least. The cheese wasn't very memorable, except for the truffle cheese that was... just... I didn't like it. Not a fan of the truffle honey either, but the vinegar, on the other hand... my god that was delicious. Lesson learned: avoid truffle anything like the plague (unless it's a chocolate truffle, of course).

Boyfriend and I stopped here last night for my belated birthday dinner. I was a bit iffy based on the reviews, and I'm still feeling that way. We were started off with an amuse bouche of mushrooms marinated in herbed olive oil. Boyfriend and I aren't huge on mushrooms, but we really enjoyed these ones. We then ordered drinks. I got the Satan's Whiskers cocktail and Boyfriend ordered the Victory Village beer. My drink came out wrong the first time -- it was supposed to be gin, vermouth, orange juice, Grand Marnier and bitters. They forgot the orange juice and it tasted like what I presume Satan's actual whiskers taste like. The hostess quickly switched the drink out for me and though it was insanely strong (not good bar strong, more like drinking straight from the bottle strong), I suppose it was accurately described. Boyfriend's beer was spot on with the description and very smooth. Our app's were the highly recommended Szechuan Duck Spring Rolls, and they were really awesome. (Thanks, Yelp!) I've never had duck before, but I'd be more likely to try it after this. Then dinner came, and the weirdness began. First of all, entrees come by themselves with no sides, so it gets a little expensive if you want an actual meal. Boyfriend got the hanger steak and I got the salmon. For sides (which had no descriptions whatsoever on the menu, just the name and the price) we ordered the truffle parm frites and Jasmine fried rice and broccoli rabe. The salmon and steak were definitely good, although the steak was cooked unevenly (was ordered mid-rare and came out mid-rare to mid-well depending on the spot in the meat) and the salmon skin was so insanely hard I couldn't cut through it with my butter knife (they don't supply real knives on the tables here, so the kiddies are safe). The truffle parm frites were very yummy, although I didn't detect any truffle oil. The real disappointment was the rice and broccoli rabe. "Jasmine fried rice" here consists of an entire red onion in huge, long strips, a little bit of rice that I wouldn't really consider "fried" and some scrambled egg. I hate onions, and this was mostly onion, so that was the end of that for me. The broccoli rabe was cooked in too much oil and had entire flakes of crushed red pepper all over it. It was edible, but I prefer my vegetables in their more natural form, and someone who doesn't like spice could not handle these at all. Service was OK. The hostess was very involved in the meal and a pleasure to deal with. The waiter seemed like he was just there for his paycheck. I would go back here again, but probably skip the drinks and ask a TON of questions before I ordered anything from the description-less menu.

I keep meaning to write about the brunch I had there a couple of months ago. I had the huevos rancheros which was pretty decent it could have been a little spicier but I am also someone that enjoys a lot of spice in my food. What was really great about it was the bloody Mary bar. I love bloody Marys but for some reason there have only been a few places that can back a really good one. Being able to put almost everything I wanted and also be able to experiment with different things was really cool! And they literally had everything you could ever want to put in a bloody Mary. The service has usual was good, nice without being overbearing! Love the London Grill!

Cool vibe, one of my favorite bars in Fairmount 4 stars for London grill only because the food can be hit or miss. I don't know if there are certain cooks that are better than others or what, but the food can be amazing one night and completely blah the next. The service has always been pretty decent - they can get super busy, and it's times like that where you would be better off somewhere else. Last time I went I had the gnocci, which was very flavorful and delicious. The beer selection is pretty decent. There is a "fine dining" section if you would rather not sit in the bar, but I think the bar area has the best atmosphere. The brunch is also noteworthy - I've had some incredible lemon ricotta pancakes here, as well as the potato pizza. Worth checking out.

Not a bad place for a little lunch outside on a sunny Saturday. I wanted to eat light so I had soup and salad. The gazpacho was great and a little spicy; the Caesar salad was average. However the Blackberry Collins was a perfectly refreshing drink for a warm spring day. Blackberry infused gin, lemonade and tonic, with a large gin-bloated blackberry that no longer resembled a blackberry but knocked my socks off, made this one of my new favorites. Our waitress was very cool and stayed on top of things, checking back on us often and making sure things were good or replenishing our drinks. Overall, a pleasant experience. I'm willing to check it out again when I'm in the area and have a little more of an appetite.

We went here for brunch. We were incredibly hungry moving towards hangry (hungry and angry) the server anticipated this and brough out some coffee cake/bread type-of-thing to stave off the hangry. The food was decent. Not incredible but good. The best part about London was the service - the server was training another woman and they were really great.

It was a nice evening and we had outside seating. Our waiter ( unfortunately I forgot his name SORRY !) was fantastic. He was always attentive. Took time to chat with all the customers, while bringing out food and drinks at a good pace. Drinks were reasonably priced, and they do not skimp on the liquor! I had a cran and Stoli O and it was made perfectly! As for the food. I ordered the Calamari, and was HIGHLY disappointed. The Calamari was just not seasoned enough, and the dipping sauce was awful . I think they were trying to do a play on Vietnamese Nuoc Mam, but failed horribly. More like apple juice with pepper flakes. My dinner companion had the London Burger. That however was DELICIOUS! I also ordered the Creme Brulee for dessert, and that was nothing to call home about. Fairmount has such an interesting crowd. So it's genius that this place has outside seating. Great place to grab a drink, have good conversation with friends, and people watch. Though the food didn't knock it out of the park. The wait staff was fantastic the evening I visited, and like I've said in other posts. Even if the food is mediocre. As long as I enjoyed myself because the staff is properly trained and made the time i spent there enjoyable, I have no problem visiting again.

Headed here this afternoon for lunch and was greeted with a friendly "Happy Snow Day!" upon entering. The bartender/waitress was extremely friendly throughout our visit despite clearly being frazzled at the number of patrons she was taking care of all alone. I had my usual Willie Sutton to drink, yum as always. One of the soups du jour was potato leek, an absolute favorite of mine. I ordered a bowl which was perfect after the addition of some salt and pepper; very smooth and creamy. Boyfriend and I also each ordered a cubano sandwich which came with fries. The cubano was thick with ham, pork, melted swiss and mustard. The pickle was wrongly served on the side, but a quick fix. It was served panini style on thick bread that was a bit too dry. I took half the sandwich home and it was much tastier the second time around -- the bread didn't seem as dry and I did add some creamy horseradish sauce, which was a great addition. Good food, great service. Big fan of this place. Very glad it's mere blocks from my place.

I used to live in the neighborhood, so roomie and friends and I would frequent London often for drinks, snacks, and brunch. I was never disappointed, but also never impressed with their food. I never got around to reviewing it, but after receiving a gift card AND finding out they are celebrating Lobster Month in August, I decided to trek from Center City up to Fairmount to give it another shot. We started with the roasted beet salad - beets mixed with goat cheese, walnuts, raisins or craisins, and topped with greens. It was really tasty, except I wished it had a tad bit more goat cheese. I ordered the Lobster Bake, which consisted of half a lobster, in a bowl filled with corn on the cob, clams, chorizo, and potato chunks. Everything was good, but the chorizo was lacking some flavor and overall I thought the dish was a little on the too-salty side. Regardless, it's a great and pretty tasty deal at $18!! Boyfriend was craving fish & chips and he said it was good. We sat outside, service was pretty good, the night was actually a little chilly due to the cool breeze. They have an extensive drink list which is a nice feature for Fairmount. If I still lived in the 'hood, I would go here more often, but I don't think it's anything special to come from Center City.

I've been here a few times for both brunch and dinner. They had a great selection of beers, specialty cocktails, and wines. Their make-your-own-bloody-mary bar is an awesome addition to brunch. Service is always spot on and the food is delicious. It's a great neighborhood spot for a nice meal!

Had a nice dinner date here. We were seated along the wall w. windows and there's heaters there so we were nice and warm/comfy. Dinner was good and at a good price. Service was good and we've been wanting to go back. It's been a while but it was a good experience. I'd have to check it out again to add more stars.

This is the second time the service at this place has made me swear that I will not return to London Grill. I broke that promise to myself a few weeks ago because the last time we were there, because the grilled octopus and potato pizza were so good that I thought I could deal with some mediocre service. But when we went, not only was the service abysmal but the food was bad too. Not even mediocre--bad. The grilled octopus was burnt, not grilled, and was COLD not room temperature by the time it got to us. It was beyond chewy, it verged on tooth breaking. The pizza, which I thought no one could really mess up, was just plain not good. Instead of slices of potato, there was chunks of potato. Like they were taken from the same pile that they use for mashed potatoes. And the service. We sat outside and it took a LONG time for someone to help us. In fact, we had to flag down a bus girl to ask if we could get menus. And we had to get a set of utensils and napkins from the waitstation ourselves. The beers were warm when we got them and rather than wait for our vanishing waitress to come back and get us new ones, my boyfriend went inside and got a new one from the bar. The bartender commented, Yeah, they were sitting on the bar for a WHILE. This was the theme of our meal. Disappearing waitress, cold food, angry diners. And as we walked to the car, we passed the happy diners at Zorbas and I really mean it this time. I'm not going back to this restaurant. And I'm telling anyone who will listen not to go here either. There's better places for beer and better places for food (and even some with outside seating) and much better waitstaff in Fairmount. Beat it London Grill.

My mom and I stopped at London Grill for brunch yesterday. I thought that the idea of a Bloody Mary bar was pretty cute, even though I'm not a big Bloody Mary drinker. We started off with coffee and it was just okay. Not good, not great, not bad. Our server was a little annoying, really nice, but something about her rubbed me the wrong way. It wasn't anything she did, per se, she just engendered in me a vague sense of annoyance. Anyway. They brought out a cute little plate of coffee cake and fruit. It was fine. Nothing to write home about, but nothing offensive either. Food-wise, everything was pretty terrible. I ordered fish & chips and my mom got the grilled chicken and brie sandwich. The fish & chips was literally inedible; the batter was soggy and the interior of the fish was coated in oil. It was disgusting. The fries were decent, but also really soggy. My mom's sandwich was 'meh'. Her initial reaction was "I could have made this better at home". Her second reaction was "ugh, this is sitting in my stomach like a lead balloon". There are so many awesome restaurants in that part of town, so I doubt that I'll be back there to eat.

Good menu. Good food, good beer selection. The brick chicken was cooked perfectly. Our only problem w/ the food was that a couple items were heavily salted, the baked kale and the spring rolls being the big offenders. The big reason I took to yelp was because of the SLOW service!! it took us over 2.5hrs for my friends and I to have dinner. We had to ask for bread and oil (which was delicious) but slow service was brutal to sit through and their wasn't much apology for the delays, just... "the gratuity is circled at the bottom of the check" THANKS!

I went to London Grill last night with three friends and it was absolutely fantastic in every respect. We started with a bottle of wine and three starters. The octopus was cooked just perfectly, so that it was tender and meaty. The marinade wasn't spectacular but to me the most important thing about octopus is the cooking method, and they nailed that. The peanut satay shrimp were likewise cooked perfectly and the pickled vegetables were a nice balance to the slightly spicy peanut sauce. The cheese plate/charcuterie would rival any in the city. The pate and chicken liver mousse were delicious, as was the duck brasiole. The honey they served with it wasn't great, but everything else was. (The wine, a cabernet, was good enough). I had the veal for my entree and, like every other thing we had on our table, it was cooked perfectly. The accompanying sweetbreads were succulent. The gnocchi were less than amazing, but still good. The seared duck was enormous and also had a delicious delicate smoky flavor. They have recently gotten chartreuse (it isn't on the menu yet) and we were lucky enough to try some from the owner?'s personal collection. It was amazing, as was the house chartreuse (get the green, not yellow) and went well with the tiramasu. The creme brulee was burnt perfectly on top, but the flavor wasn't amazing. The tiramasu was very good. Their extensive cocktail list was also very good and we enjoyed a negroni and a few manhattans, both were again expertly prepared. Perhaps the best combination of casual dress/staff and absolutely fine cuisine. They have some very talented cooks in the back, especially with preparing protein.

Had dinner here last month. It was fantastic. We sat outside at a cafe table and the atmosphere was superb (great for people watching, warm summer nights, cool fall evenings, and probably everything in between). Server was great which is also something harder to come by these days. She was prompt, friendly, and consistent. We both had burgers with brie which were delicious. I highly recommend this place. Cool, chic, and worth the stop.

I write this review based on two experiences within a 6 month span. The first experience from February should of warranted me never going again, but the restaurant is within my neighborhood and foolishly I tried again. Yes, London Grill 1 star is being kind. First experience back in February, dinner guest experience food poisoning. Doctors at ER confirmed. Second experience 8/3/2010, evening dinner. Our server had three tables (two eating, 1 drinking). Took approximately 30 minutes to acknowledge us then brought us water and said be right back to take our order. Watching the clock, it took another 30 minutes. Later, as he took our order said he was tired, pulled up a chair and you could tell he had been drinking. I ordered the wedge and dessert, dinner guest ordered fish and chips. Dinner arrived an hour later. My wedge salad came out in parts, the wedge then 5 minutes later dressing, then bacon then toppings. The server explained they were out of things in the kitchen then mysteriously the food arrived in parts. My dessert (Tiramisu ) was a runny mess. To top it off the manager on staff was laughing the entire time of the experience. Classy I must say. Moral of this experience, bad/slow service, bad food and drunk wait staff = not so awesome time.

This is my first Yelp write up, and I'm genuinely sad to say it's a mediocre one for London Grill. I've lived in the area off-and-on (on now) and this has always been one of my favorite bars. Good food, great beer selection, friendly staff; I've been here many times grabbing a bite before work and a plate of fish n' chips with a few brews always hit the spot. So I ventured over for my first brunch with them this afternoon. I was not impressed. Maybe I've been spoiled by some of, what I think, are the best brunch spots in the city. Find a map and point anywhere at all in the Northern Liberties area and you won't be more than 2 blocks from a fantastic spot for brunch. At the London I was greeted by a new (but kind) bartender. I ordered the eggs benedict and got to work at the Bloody Mary bar. That in itself is a neat idea, and well executed. There were some omissions in the hot sauce area I found a little odd (no siracha?) but overall very well presented and fun. What was not fun however, after receiving the check, was seeing that I was paying $9 for a shot of "house infused horseradish vodka". The flavor is untraceable in the already horseradish dosed cocktail I made, and frankly I could have done just as well with a $3 shot of Nikolai. It was my fault for not checking the menu more thoroughly for these prices, but what amounts to a $9 shot that I get to pour into my drink seems more than a little skewed in their favor. If I'm assembling the thing, I think something more along the lines of $5 is reasonable. But enough of that tirade. I chose to eat outside where the only time I saw staff was when I met them halfway to pick up my plate, and again when I brought my dishes inside. The food was by no means bad, but to echo some other reviewers it was a bit bland and lacking in the portions. The eggs were well poached, but placed on top of a very thick and oddly cut piece of canadian bacon, which sat upon an overly toasted english muffin straight from the box. The potatoes were nice and crispy with pleasantly sweet peppers, but by the time I was done I was already thinking about whipping up something at home to quell my stomach's protest at the empty plate. Overall still a place I enjoy, but I think I'll stick to a few drinks and save the food for home. Or the Bishops Collar.

Maybe it's me, but I don't really understand the negative reviews. The London Grill does not pretend to be a foodie's dream or some big-time gourmet place. It's a neighborhood bar with fabulous burgers and other wonderful bar food. They have cider, which I love, and good beer. What do people expect, anyway, from a great neighborhood bar? I have been here for brunch, lunch, and dinner, and I think the food is fine and the service has always been really good. I find the waitstaff to be courteous, prompt, and happy to make recommendations. I'll go back again and again.

We went here as a stop on a beer tasting pub crawl. We only sampled the beers. They were serving brunch at the time and it looked good. They also had their own infused / flavored Vodka on hand... bacon Vodka anyone? They had a nice selection of drought beers. The bar area was a bit crowded but I suppose it wasn't intended to accommodate the 30+ people in our group. We considered returning for dinner here but to be fair I am a "steak and potato type guy and their dinner menu was definitely not for me.

Our party of 5 went here on July 4, arrived 15 minutes early for our 7:30 reservation and were seated right away. The prompt service seemed to end after that point. We sat for 15 minutes before a server took our order, 45 minutes before bread (delicious) was brought over, and another 25 before our drinks and meal were served. It was a holiday- and a big one- so the slow service may be attributable to that, however, it wasn't until well into our meal that the place filled up. The food, however, was really good. The Mexican corn was especially good and flavorful as a side dish. The duck spring rolls were small in size but hearty and filling. Korean barbecue chicken a great mixture of flavor, the tuna tartare was perfect. If you are not in a hurry, the food is what gave this place the high rating, and overall, we were happy, despite the slow service.

I may or may not be at London grill 3 times a week minimum. I stumbled across this gem when I first moved to Fairmont 3 years ago. The food was really good I highly recommend the burger it is excellent. The brunch is really good as well. When London opened Paris next door and brought in draft wine, my bank account took a turn for the worst! The merlot is unbelievable and highly recommended to try!

Great brunch spot on the weekends! The steak and eggs dish is amazing!! I also recommend the bloody mary's with jalpeno vodka (Mmmm). If it's nice outside, definitely site outside and enjoy Fairmount.

This is one of the first places I went to when I lived in the Fairmount/Art Museum area. It's divided into a bar area with some tables and the restaurant area. I sat down at a table in the bar area. It took a little while before someone came over to take my beer order. I ended up getting the potato gnocchi. While it was decent, it was pretty pricy for what I got. The salad I got was ok, but didn't have a lot of vegetables in it either. The beer, well that was good but it took a while to get my second beer. I kind of felt like I'd have been better off sitting in the restaurant. I wasn't too impressed with the food or the service. I"d rather go to Rembrandt's if I was back in the neighborhood.

Had a great time here celebrating a friends bday!! Food and drinks were delightful. I had the arugala salad which was soooo good i wish I could have asked for more and just eat this. I also had the London Burger which was good except i order it well done and it was really "Well Done". Meat was dry and in a shape of a ball. It was kind of dificult to eat but i managed given the hunger i had. Drinks were great!!! Anyhow, the waitress was good she was attentive and all our food came out at once for our large party. I would recommend to try this place out.

I've been to London Grill a couple of times, and it's been a consistenly pleasant experience for me. I especially love their fish tacos and burger. The burger comes on an English muffin, which is a pleasant change from the usual bun. The service had also been good. Once I went with my dogs to sit outside and our server brought a dog bowl with water in it. Very thoughtful. I really want to check out their happy hour deal if I can make it sometime!

My old haunt... Great food, great environment, great for a casual dinner with friends, or just stopping in for a beer. The bartenders will always offer some stimulating conversation, as well as tips on new beers on tap.

So it's a chilly Monday night around 7:30PM... my girlfriend and I don't feel like cooking....its been a long weekend... who feels like cooking on a Monday? Not me. So we head up to Fairmont Ave in search of some food. We come across London Grill which looks very interesting with its Fluorescent pink neon on the side of the building. We walk in the FRONT door. The place is clean, there are a few Phillies fans sitting at the bar enjoying the game. The atmosphere is very laid back. We seat ourselves. The waiter is extremely attentive and has a great personality. We scope out the menu and my stomach is screaming "BURGER" "BURGER" so I check out the London burger and it comes on an English muffin?? So I think to myself, English muffin.... I don't want nooks and crannies touching my beef. I ask the waiter if he can replace the muffin with a normal all American hamburger bun and he politely informs me that he can accommodate. Maria orders the scallops and some cheesy thing. As we're waiting for our food the Phillies are getting absolutely crushed... Cole has let up several home runs and yet again the Phillies can't mount an offense. The food comes out and the burger looks amazing, Maria's food looks great too. They have the old school ketchup bottles which I think is super cool... so I karate chop the bottle a dozen times and out comes the ketchup. The food was great. As we leave out of the FRONT door we hear some patrons sitting nearby say "I've never seen anyone leave out of THAT door" almost mocking my girlfriend and I for leaving out of the FRONT door. I turn around and see that on the FRONT door there is an arrow pointing around to the SIDE of the establishment claiming that the SIDE door is the FRONT door. This door situation has me scratching my head... So the true FRONT door is directing me to go to the SIDE door that they claim is the FRONT door. Why do they even have the FRONT door? And why are my girlfriend and I being crucified by locals for leaving out of the correct door? I don't think we will be back to London until they figure out the door arrangements.

This place was great for Brunch! Make your own Bloody Mary Bar. You add as many olives, spices and celery as you would like. It's something different and special. Not your typical Brunch place. I had great service here and I've been back several times. It's never a bad meal no matter if you from the pub menu or the specials. I've had the London burger , served on an english muffin. Different, but tasty! You should go at least twice! Dinner and Brunch! :)

The London Grill Two Beer Lunch: 2 pints Yards Pale Ale 1 medium rare burger with caramelized onions and blue cheese splash of bar talk and women's tennis/SportsCenter Combine ingredients in a corner location with outdoor seating and plenty of character during lunch time (11:30 - 2:30). Serves one.

London is really a 3.5 in my mind. The service is slooooow, as others have mentioned. But I haven't had a bad meal here so far. The beet salad is probably my favorite dish, the roasted beet is very tender, but not mushy, and pairs well with the cheese and nuts. I have also had the eggplant and tomato soup, which was a bit spicy, but the creamy goat cheese mellowed it out. Their burgers are good, but the english muffin makes them a bit hard to manage. Fries remind me of the ones from vendors on beaches in New England. Last time I was here, nothing from the beer list sounded appealing, so I got a warm apple cider with applejack. It tasted a bit watered down and it didn't have any affect on me (and I'm, like, a half-drink-drunk, so that really says something). So I'll add this restaurant to the pile of just okay places in my hood.

I normally like to comment about the food and/or drinks first in a review, but in this instance, I feel the need to start by mentioning the staff. Jeff, my waiter/bartender/OMG-please-be-my-new-BFF!, was, without a doubt, the best server I've encountered in recent memory. He was attentive without asking too often, pleasant small talk without being too chatty, and genuinely friendly. I recently read about the bar's newest infused spirits, which is what prompted this visit. When asked what I'd like to drink, I mentioned what I read and that I'd like to try the one with the sweat tea vodka. Before I even had a chance to get settled in my seat, a Drunken Golfer was sitting on the table. The Drunken Golfer may have been the best beverage I've ever had the pleasure of drinking. Combining their sweat tea vodka with lemonade and a bit of Sprite, if you didn't already know it was an alcoholic beverage, you could get into some serious trouble very quickly. It has a perfect blend of sweet and tart. If I hadn't already planned to try some other drinks, I would have stuck with the Drunken Golfer and been a very happy camper. One that would require days to sober up, but happy nonetheless. Since my visit took place the day after Thanksgiving, I wanted to avoid any poultry-related food for obvious reasons. So lunch was simply a burger. Tasty, cooked exactly as requested and, curiously, served on an English muffin. For my second round, I went with a Spiced Cran-tini. They had me at "spiced cranberry-infused vodka". While it didn't hit the heights of the Drunken Golfer, this was a delicious drink as well. I'm not much of a martini drinker, so I can't compare it to similar drinks. But if offered one again, I shall most certainly accept it. On my way out, I asked Jeff how long these seasonal infusions would be around. Without receiving a specific date, I was comforted in knowing I have at least a couple of months during which I can return and they'll still be available.

Just went to the London Grill for the first time, but not the last. It was a cold night. The hot cider with vanilla liquer was how I started, and it was amazing. The wild mushroom bruschetta was too. The vegetable board was a refreshing series of small plates in one-- luxurious fried Brussels sprouts with preserved lemon, lacinato kale with bright color and a refreshing hint of lemon juice, wild mushrooms, rattatouille- and the truffle fries were a treat. I had perfectly cooked salmon, crispy on the outside and medium rare on the inside, with a lovely broth and a parsnip puree with white chocolate-- just a touch. Friendly service. I'll be back!

Leaving a review because this is my neighborhood bar and the reviews I've read here have not been my typical experience there. This is a corner bar that can get lots of foot traffic at times. The beer selection is always great. They get beers that I rarely see on draft. The food ranges from pretty damn delicious to pretty good, depending on the chef but I've never had a bad meal. I've also never had bad service...ever... The waiter/bartenders are very knowledgeable and have been only friendly to me. This bar has a good combination of quality food but down to earth atmosphere. I go here often (more so than Rembrandt's and the like) Try the the beer cocktails...some are surprisingly good!

Well, my latest experience was not so great. I took my Girlfriend there for her Birthday. We were seated in the dining area and immediately informed of (at least four items on the menu that were "86'd")). We ordered house wine in a carafe for $21 that was not very good at all. I picked an appetizer which(after checking again) was sold out, also. My Girlfriend picked an entree (which after checking Again - yes again) was now sold out. We were hungry and finally received a slice of bread each and some olive oil (about 20 mins into the meal). Everything was "ala carte".. A simple salad was quite pricey. My Gfriend got a pasta dish which was a skinny dish with approx. 8 - 10 Raviolis). I settled on a burger which was not bad. We ordered creme brulee and bread pudding which were rather small portions but tasted good. I felt that they were expensive for what you received. Also, we were sat near the kitchen and the walls were quite dirty around the kitchen entrance. The ceiling tiles above were dingy and the place just looked outdated. I felt like I was eating @ an old diner.I spent over $120 in there and left hungry and dissatisfied. Overall I was not impressed with the London Grille. I used to live in the Art Museum Area and always preferred Rembrandts.

I have been here several times because the location is so convenient but I am thoroughly disappointed. My other visits have been mediocre but this last Friday was it. My burger (which is supposed to be one of London's safe standby choices) was the pits. Gray meat, overcooked, blahness. The boursin cheese and caramelized onions couldn't cover up the bad taste. I had to use ketchup for that. Even though I ate half of it because I was famished, I would have sent it back had time/my stomach permitted it. If I have to visit again in the future, I will strictly stick to beer and nachos- that's it!

Short & Sweet: I like this place. It's a bit on the expensive side for my budget, though totally fair for what you're getting. Like the burgers. Love the salads. Happy Hour is terrific. Usually a comfortable not-too-crowded crowd. $3 drinks & $3 "mini-meal" app's, which are quite tasty.

I was a little hesitant to go to this place when I saw the review (3 stars) but I am glad I tried it out. We ended up getting 6 appetizers and sharing the plates tapas-style between 5 people. I HIGHLY recommend the cheese & meat plate (large), the risotto, tuna tartare & apple-Bailey's bread pudding. Great mixture of American & European cuisine.

There are no words to describe our experience at this place. When we first moved to Fairmount 3 years ago, I had went to London on 2 seperate occasions for brunch, and was disappointed, so out of the blue decided to give it another chance with dinner. Bad idea. After looking at the menu (which looked promising), we decided on both 3-course specials - carrot soup, tomatoe soup, branzino, braised shortrib on the bone. The best part of this meal was my beer and the carrot soup (however it took 35 minutes to get the soup b/c our order sheet fell down behind some pans! Wouldn't you as a waiter notice your guests haven't received their app and look into it...especially when your restaurant isn't even busy?). My fiances fish dish was greasy and unedible. My braised shortrib, which should be falling off the bone if cooked correctly, could barely be cut off w/ the butter knife I was given and there were only 2 edible pieces because the rest was fatty. When the waiter came to get our dishes and asked how the meal was, I had to say 'not so good' All he could do was apologize and looked ashamed, like this was a regular occurance. after this, we asked for our desert to go b/c neither of us wanted to stay there any longer. When we got home, the brownie was barely cooked. Needless to say, we will not be going back here again. This place has potential, but they need to change chefs, change decor and then MAYBE they'd get our business again.

The gf and I stopped by London Grill the other day for a cocktail before heading out to an early evening show. While there is nothing particularly remarkable about this spot, I did enjoy a good cocktail that wasn't too unreasonably priced and our service was fine despite previous reviews noting it as lacking. We didn't have an opportunity to try the food, but I suspect I will be spending more time in the fairmount area and I will make it a point to get back here before too long to give them a proper try.

GO ON MONDAYS and get the meatball sampler. The veal meatball in the Sierra ExPorter beer sauce is one of the tastier things i have eaten recently. Props to the chef, and the bartenders here rock.

Went late during the week, kitchen still open half past midnight. dark and woody, but not that dark and woody. you feel like you're in the wide open and the drinks are a bit expensive. that's a couple of turnoffs for me. the bartender was very nice and personable. not a dive, no way. more for an older or sophistacated crowd, or for people who shop at malls. i was expecting more of dive/pub atmosphere. the restaurant half looked nice, lots of rooms, a complex nearly.

Yelpers led us here and we were happy for it. Great combinations of flavor. Horseradish crusted salmon is excellent though the horseradish is slathered on and packs a punch. I removed more than half of the pungent stuff and still had plenty of flavor. Rich delicious boursin mashed potatoes. Fresh tangy arugula salad with a fried goat cheese patty. Generous kids portions and space in the rear dining area makes this a good place for families. Enjoy.

I visited the London Grill with my father and mother not too long ago for my mother's birthday. It felt like a safe area and the wait-staff was very friendly but a little ditsy. There was nothing very "London-y" about it other than them advertising that they leave on Soccer games a few days of the week on the bar TV. I didn't order anything from the bar because I had no intention of getting drunk with my parents. They did have a good selection of various spirits, though. A quick side note: the female bathrooms are very silly. There are various pictures of monkeys painting their nails and wearing gaudy clothing. Women, stop in there just because it's amusing to see. The bathroom has the tiniest sink in the world, though. Be prepared. Food is well-priced for dining with people who will pay for you but I would never go here with my friends just because we'd most likely choose a place that gives you more bang for your buck. The London Grill gave me exactly what I ordered, nothing more. When my dad and I ordered lemonade, it was extremely citrusy and had too much ice in it. My dad asked if they could take it back and bring back two lemonades with no ice...why should we have to pay $3 for lemonade when it's mostly ice? Turns out, the waitress charged us for 4 lemonades making it $12. A little mistake but very awkward. Why would you charge someone for something when it was inadequate? Anyways, the food was very good but not in my usual price range. I wouldn't go back because I don't live in Philly and have no reason at the moment to go back. If I was around for some reason, I'd probably check out the bar but skip the food next time.

Our server knew nothing about the dishes and had no desire to find out. We had to press her for information regarding what vegetables were on the vegetables tapas (her answer was wrong). She didn't know what the base of the fennel/watercress soup was (it took a lot of asking to get that information) Clearly the waitress did not feel it was part of her job to provide any information regarding the food. Food had some good and some bad. Fennel/watercress soup delicious, vegetable tapas good. Grilled octopus charred to blackness with no flavor left except for charcoal. I was told this is the way it is prepared there...a far cry from the lovely octopus I've had in many other restaurants. It's a shame. The menu is very interesting, the atmosphere very nice, but spoiled by our server. We won't be back.

The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the food was good. My Girlfriend and I each had a salad, she had the arugula which was amazing and I had the "greens" it was also amazing. My girlfriend ordered the "brick chicken" it was perfect and everything she expected it to be. I ordered the "bistro steak" with a side of baked macaroni and cheese for us to split, we were offered to have it topped with bacon for an extra charge so we did. Although we didn't get the bacon(but ordered it and were charged for it) with it ,it was pretty good by itself. I ordered a whiskey sour to wash my delicious food down and I got what tasted like a full glass of sour mix.. I told the waiter "I couldn't taste any whiskey and that it was way to sour because I order the drink everywhere I go and make them at home, I know what it's supposed to taste like" He says "well maybe you make them a little stronger at home" and walked away without trying to remedy the situation. My girlfriend really didn't want me causing a scene so I let it go. From then on the waiter "Dylan" was completely rude and condescending. He actually offered to have a drink re made for a table behind us as well after my drink issue. My $100 meal I paid for was delicious but in the end I left with a bad taste In my mouth from LONDON GRILL because some asshole named DYLAN who looks and acts just like the guy on "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" the scene where he first checks into a hotel and the line is full of cops. I'm sure whoever runs this place can figure out who I'm talking about!

I am only giving this place 3 stars because we had a really great server. We stopped in during the Bastille Day festivities and had appetizers and drinks. Our Lillet Rose Sangria was great and was the highlight of our experience. I had the beet salad and my friend had the roasted tomato salad. Both dishes were just so-so. My beets seemed to be straight out of a can, definitely did not seem fresh.

I never do this. Ever. But this place is bad. The menu is horrible. The service is unbelievably bad. The place has so much potential but it's just flat out bad. Did I mention that this place is bad? Honestly, I'm the least far from a snob but I felt like I had to say this. Took forever to get our food and the waitress acted like she could care less and wasn't the least apologetic. They need a major improvement. Would be a perfect restaurant for one of the makeover reality shows.

The brunch food is somewhere between ok and good, but not spectacular. The wins here are: - The do it yourself Bloody Mary bar. - The big windows and the people watching. - Good for Groups. - Friendly staff. For a Philadelphia joint, it seemed overpriced for the portions.

The brunch is amazing! Fried chicken & Biscuit - GET THAT SHIT!!! Also duck rolls were amazing too...I'm really shocked how good they were at an American bar. They've put some kind of American twist to it but I LIKE it. Bonus - the bartender looks and sounds like Chelsea Handler.

Realized that I haven't updated my review in a while, since London has become a neighborhood staple of mine. I will say it depends on who is serving/bartending, and whether you're in the bar or the dining area but Kelly & Christina generally rock my socks. They serve a mean PBR (in addition to more grown-up bevvies). The fries are delicious, and the duck eggrolls are lovely. Avoid in the two weeks leading up to Halloween due to the proximity to the Penitentiary haunted house, but otherwise it's a great place to hang out, have a beer and a burger, and chat. Fair prices and good people.

We went as a group of six for dinner on Friday night and travelled across town to try it out. We were all impressed by the menu and expectations were set pretty high. What was delivered was far away from what we expected - it was disappointing. The food was lacking flavor - the broth accompanying the tiger fish special was about as flavorsome as a glass of water, the vegetarian sandwich and the 'brick' chicken were both bland and the fries were soggy. Its a pity because the service was great, the beer and cocktail menu was impressive and the place seemed to be buzzing. 'A' for effort but the kitchen didn't deliver nearly as well as the menu set out.

Yesterday was my second time at London for brunch. The first, my boyfriend and i sat by the bar and the bartender was great! He's the reason we gave it another try yesterday even though our meals were less than great. We sat in the dining room yesterday and waited at least 5 minutes before anyone even looked at us. Then we ordered and got coffee with no creamer. And our app came out with no share plates and no one came back so we just used our napkins. Our meals were less than spectacular, too. My tortilla was stale and hard. We are going to skip London next time. Great male bartender on Saturday mornings but that's about it.

I moved to the area a few months ago and have been here twice. Very friendly, somewhat slow service. Brie/Chicken sandwich is delicious, as are all of the brunch offerings. I had a smoked pork hash that was reeaaaally good. I like the beer and cocktail selection as well. I love a good bloody mary, so I tried out the bloody mary bar at brunch. Great selection and cool infused vodkas, but it was pretty pricey for a small serving.

For Valentine's Day London was serving a grilled red snapper that if they ever have it again run do not walk to get. I can not say enough things about this place, food is always good, service is great and Kelly Willhelm is always fun to go see and talk to. Word of advice; order extra fries Kelly always eats mine;)

We entered through the long bar and cafe, before entering you will pass through closely knit tables and planters on the sidewalk and a very narrow walk through. The bar was empty when we went for brunch, with plenty of bar stools and high topped tables lining the window. We opted to sit in one of the dining rooms, which was more like an enclosed sun room and we welcomed the warmth shining in on us. Both dining rooms were filling up quickly and by the time we left the cafe and bar was doing a nice business. Michael ordered a coke and I thought I would be cute and help myself to their amazing bloody mary bar! Be very careful of that London mix! Way too much London mix and not enough tomato juice and ye gads, for every sip I took I drank one half glass of water! I was torn between the brisket hash with poached eggs or the fish and chips, but was quickly informed they were out of the hash. We started with the soup of the day which was a cream of potato soup, which I knew was either burned or old or both when I first saw it, as it was not a creamy white but a very distinct tan in color. I had one bite, hubs thought it was okay and decided to finish it. A fresh fruit salad is served complimentary to each table which was a pleasant surprise. Michael ordered the eggs benedict which can also be ordered eggs Florentine. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the ham was nice and thick with a beautifully made hollandaise sauce. He had asked for them to add onions and peppers to his home fries and they were happy to oblige. He was thrilled with his order and raved over the home fries in particular. As a side he ordered bacon and their bacon is not wonderful, it was thin and very soft. I loved their hand cut fries and you get enough to feed an army! Three pieces of fish topped my huge plate of fries, the breading was way too thick and not cooked on the inside, even though the fish was cooked perfectly throughout. I ate half of one piece and decided to concentrate on the fries, bringing the fish home to reheat in the oven until the breading was cooked. I like a good crunchy fish and this was certainly not the best I've ever had. There is one restroom at the top of a very steep and very dirty flight of stairs, I don't think the carpets had been swept in quite some time, the restroom was clean. I must compliment the staff, I have not witnessed such great teamwork in a long time. It did not matter if it was your section or your table, whoever was in the area cleared your plates as needed, refilled drinks, brought out food, the service was friendly and spot on!

We went to the London Grill after visiting the Barnes Foundation, about a .5 mile walk. The food was really good, the ambiance nice, and our waitress (Hannah) superb. We will be coming back here on our next visit. In our party of 4, no one ordered straight off the menu, we all had variations and the waitress took it all in stride, accommodated us, and got everything right. The kitchen was very flexible and turned a meat sandwich into very yummy vegetarian one, and even cooked up a great grilled cheese - which wasn't even on the menu. We appreciated the good food and service and would highly recommend this restaurant.

This was an interesting find that I found through Groupon. I spent 2 years in London so I was intrigued by the name. Since Groupon was offering a great discount deal, my bf and I decided to try it on a Friday night. It has an interesting ambience...it doesn't feel like a pub but the dining area is very different from the bar area with plenty of room in both. The bar advertises a lot of sports viewing events which is not really my scene. There were plenty of people hanging out drinking when we arrived but not overly crowded. We were seated promptly and our waiter was very nice. We decided on a table next to the window. There were a few other parties, but again, pretty quiet on a weekend night. The food was forgettable. The most interesting thing was the Cheese & Charcuterie Plate. Nothing on it compared to my favorite cheese appetizer at Amada but the whole thing is on what looks like an artist's palette, which looks very cool. My sirloin was tough and not very juicy. By the end of the meal, we were pretty certain we won't be back.

London Grill is one of my favorite bars, and it isn't just because it was the location of my first date with my husband! It is an all-around good place, where you can go on a first date, or catch happy hour after work, or bring your parents for brunch. You can't go wrong here! The bartenders and wait staff are friendly, food comes out quickly, and they have a good variety of dishes. London Grill is the ultimate neighborhood bar. Some of the people at the bar are always there and the bartenders seem to know everyone. The food is consistently good. We usually go here for happy hour because they have a great selection of beers for $3 and the small plates are a decent size. They also have happy hour on Saturday afternoons 3-5 and Sunday evenings 9-11 (just drink specials). Sweet! The meatballs are excellent! Now that I am vegetarian, I am really going to miss them.... and the duck spring rolls, yum! It is a great place to sit outside when the weather is nice. You can order a bucket of Coronas and hang out overlooking Fairmount Ave and the prison. Brunch is also excellent - especially the bloody mary bar!

A classic neighborhood establishment, but it doesn't stand out among other gastropubs in town. It is popular enough to attract brewers and host cool events, but it's not as serious as Bridgid's, in example. The beer program is above average though. Fairmount classics need to up their game in the overpopulated gastropubs scene in Philly, I don't think London does--mainly because it has one of the best locations on the stretch.

Decent place with a good drink selection. Went with a group of friends, and the hostess was pretty accommodating in getting us seated together quickly for a Friday night, so plus on that for service. Waitor ended up bringing slightly off drink orders (Sprite mixer instead of ginger ale, manhattan neat instead of on the rocks), so kinda minus for that, but no one had any particular complaints. They had some live music (sax & piano) going on as we arrived, but ended soon after; would like to come back for a nice dinner date if I know they'll have that again. As for a drinking spot, I'd stop in if in the neighborhood, but nothing to really travel across town for.

Review for Brunch- I am not a big fan of brunches because I dont like sweets as entrees, and lets be real- I can fry my own egg at home!! So I was pretty excited when I saw the brunch menu which included korean fried chicken and burmese braised pork bellie with soy sauced egg. My kind of breakfast!! My friend (party of 6) also ordered the pork bellie and we were both super disappointed. The dish was drenched in sauce, making it so salty that it was impossible to eat...I mean, I ate everything, but I am abnormal and NEVER waste food. I am 100% positive that a normal person would be unable to tolerate the saltiness. My other friend ordered the pancakes and he said it was so-so. On the positive note, the restaurant has an amazing bloodymary selection where you can create your own bloodymary mix. So if you are in the mood to experiment what other flavors compliment tobasco sauce - go for it!

I don't typically consider myself a fan of restaurants that serve American food but this place impressed me. I had gone a few times for their hot cider with a vanilla liqueur (holy hell, amazing!) but never had the food. A couple of months ago, we went for dinner and used a BOGO coupon with the Entertainment book. I had the risotto ($9) that had squash, pecorino and speck. So freaking good. My husband really loved his food, too. The staff was attentive and we really enjoyed our meal. With American style food, I often have a hard time finding something I like. But their menu was full of dishes that I wanted to order all at the same time!

Came here because it was the only place serving good on a late Saturday night. To my surprise there was a live jazz duo playing in a back room. The wait staff were pleasant and informative about the London grill with out being too annoying. The bar was crowded but service was speedy and polite. London grill is definitely a spot in fairmont to go to eat and hang out late night.

Went for lunch on Saturday with a friend. We ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, the french toast and the chicken sandwich with brie and fries. Pancakes were light with grated lemon zest, fresh fruit and bacon. Chicken sandwich was a generous portion. Fries were freshly made with the skin on and not at all too salty. Large selection of beers, including some new ones we had not tried before. A variety of mixed drinks that were quite reasonable. Dark and Stormy was $6 and Pimm's Cup about the same. Didn't find it shabby, liked the solarium, cheery on such a rainy day. Service was friendly and very attentive.

I just got back from my first brunch, and first dining experience, at London Grill, and I definitely won't be going back. It's Philly Marathon weekend, and a group of us went in to eat after the race. We'd made reservations, but when I arrived, the hostess was rude and almost made it feel like I was inconveniencing her by asking to be seated. I'm pretty tolertant, having been in the business a while, but man, she was just plain rude. Strike one. They had us in a sort of private room, which was nice, but holy cow, it had to be about 90º in there. It was incredibly uncomfortable, but not a huge problem. The hostess, still rude, kept reminding us how busy they were and how glad she was we were being patient with her in possibly the most insincere tone humanly possible. I don't remember any of us having expressed dissatisfaction with the wait or the service at that point, so not sure why she felt the need to remind us they were busy. We had three ladies, rude hostess included, waiting on our party, and we admittedly weren't an easy party to handle with folks coming and going as the race was ending. But it took 30 minutes to have our order taken. I ordered a hot cider, which was $4, and it was obviously from a mix. Seriously?! It took another hour for the food to arrive. I ordered the poached eggs, and they were completely tasteless. The polenta tasted like it hadn't been seasoned at all. Also, they arrived completely cold. All five of us who received food at that time noted how cold the food was, but we didn't want to send it back because it took an hour to arrive in the first place. Strike two. When it came time to pay, several of us were pretty antsy, and it took half an hour for us to get the check after we asked for it. Then, it took another 15-20 minutes for us to get it back. And of course, an 18% gratuity had been added, which I didn't want to pay. Tips should be earned, period. Strike three. I left angry I'd paid $26 for apple-flavored sugar water and cold, flavorless eggs, and that the entire process took three hours. I'm giving them two stars instead of one because the food was edible...mostly.

OUCH! Stopped-in for a lite dinner on a rainy Saturday evening. Their 'cubano' sandwich boasted "barbecued pulled pork" on a homemade bread but I still have no idea what it is they brought to the table. The sandwich was grilled, charred panini bread and after taking a bite, something wasn't right. I opened the sandwich up to see boiled ham, sliced luncheon ham you would find at the deli at your local Shop-Rite. I hated to complain to the waitress but after realizing I just couldn't eat this gross mess, I asked her if I had ordered right. She told me that the BBQ Cubano sandwich comes with BBQ pulled pork AND ham (who knew) and that "There SHOULD be some BBQ pork in there"... I opened the sandwich up to show her and she said "oh sorry, would you like me to bring you some pork on the side?" "SURE" I said.. She came back to the table a few minutes later with a bowl of what appeared to be boiled pulled pork. Whatever it was or however it was made, this meat, smelling like old refrigerated pork had never seen a grill or BBQ pit. Service was friendly, prices were fair but the food left everything to be desired; primarily the food we ordered. Pass on this one.

I posted my pictures up earlier in the week, and hope you have been enjoying them. So two of my friends and I headed here Sunday morning for brunch and an eye opener at their famous bloody mary bar. The pleasant barkeep Adrian got us hooked up with our vodkas of choice and sent us off to the fixins area. I was initially a bit disappointed, as most of the items were spice blends, but the essentials were there, horseradish, olives, celery, along with some fun additions such as lightly marinated cherry tomatoes and roasted peppers and onions. The pre-mixed 'London Blend' was nice and easily spiced up to my liking with the available condiments. There also was a mimosa section with peach, mango, orange, and various other juices and fresh berries, but I'm not a sweet drink kinda guy, so I passed on that. I wish there were a few more options on the savory side, how about a clamato blend for bloody ceasers? Or a protein option like add a shrimp for a buck, or a nice piece of bacon? That would have been five stars for sure. It was a heck of a lot better than any other place I've been, so a strong four stars it is. The food was very, very good. My Heuvos Rancheros came with fresh avocado, fire roasted salsa, perfectly cooked beans. I prefer my eggs soft, though, and these were fried hard. My friends got the steak and eggs and brooklyn bagel, pictures, and both agreed it was very good. We drank into the early afternoon, sampling the lovely bitter on the hand pump and some excellent beer cocktails whipped up by Adrian. IN addition to a fantastic beer selection and the biggest collection of liquor I've ever seen in a Pennsylvania bar, they have at least a dozen different types of infused liquors (sour cherry tequila perhaps, or maybe pork and jalapeno vodka). No bacon vodka yet, or basil for that matter. We'll check back with Adrian in a few weeks and see what's cooking for sure. The food is prepared form scratch and you can taste it. the sausage that came with breakfast was surprisingly sweet and ruggedly chopped prior to casing and cooking, giving it a rustic feel that was delicious. Fries were cut and fried fresh and generously salted with a course sea salt, and went very very quickly. The cubano sandwich was ordered with the intention of taking home, but the fantastic house roasted pork combined with the perfect amount of mustard and a great dill relish had it devoured so fast I was lucky to get a pic of half of it! Bathroom in the bar area was convenient and clean (it literally smelled of fresh soap and cleaning products). A supplemental air conditioner in the bar kept it cool even though the sun blazed outside, and the crowd was pleasant and eclectic. Parking across the street at the lot cost us $7 and was plentiful. So we will be back for another round for sure. Brunch is great, not too packed, and certainly the food is fresh and delicious.

I fell upon this great little pub after a tour at ESP. What a find! Excellent food and interesting beers. The atmosphere was perfect. To the man at the table next to us (Saturday 12/28 about 2pm) with the blue sweater-if your date was not successful, PLEASE look me up!

Came here for dinner and drinks with friends. Food was paced awkwardly and two of the four entrees were not hot at all. I had potato leek soup and a risotto situation with pumpkin. My food was completely fine but I was not super impressed. One thing I did like were the beer cocktails they had available. I tried the "Gentleman and Scholar," with Yards Love Stout, Gentleman Jack and Cola. If I lived anywhere near here I may frequent it, but for now its one then done.

Love London Grill! I ended up coming here three times during my week visit, if that says anything! Two of the times were just for beer, and one time we came for dinner. Every time we got great service and aweosme product. I had several beers from on tap or in bottle, they have a great selection. My wife is over the moon about the cider with the liquer 42 (I think it was called). it was a great creamy tasting hot cider, perfect for the cold Philly days and nights. For dinner, I had the duck special with a great gastrique glaze and pumpkin polenta. Just a very well balanced dish and some of the best cooked duck I've ever had. The sauce was a bit over reduced, but that's peanuts. Def go if you're in the area and looking for a great gastropub for food and or drinks.

Live in the neighborhood for two years and yet I waited so long to try this place -- I am dumb! It is a really nice place with interesting and tasty dishes. We were seated in the solarium area which I must say is one of the nicest spots I've eaten in. Just nice to be tucked in A/C but still feel like you are eating outside. The lighting was great and the noise level was perfect too. The music was really good oldies...mamas and papas and that sort of stuff :). GET THE SZECHUAN DUCK SPRING ROLLS. They are amazing! My friend and I ordered London Burgers and they were pretty damn good. I got mine with Boursin and Peppers and it was overall fantastic. I don't remember what my friend ordered but he seemed to adore his burger. The fries were alright, a bit too salty for me, but he liked them a lot and finished mine along with his! The service was pretty bad. I really felt like I had to flag the waiter down the entire time. It would be five stars if not for the waiter.

Stalwart of the Fairmount neighborhood dining scene. Much better for dinner than brunch. They have some interesting holiday specials throughout the year. Nice little bar at the front entrance. They put out tables when weather permits outdoors, but be prepared that buses go by (it's on a bus stop for the #7 & 48) that might decrease the ambiance a little and service is generally better indoors. Had a recent Deschutes Brewery evening.

I wish it could be a higher rating. I used to LOOOVVEEEE London, but the past few times we've gone, its been mediocre at best. Service is always good and the drinks are always yummy, but the food has just gotten worse and worse over time. I dunno if they got a new chef or something, but something has gone horribly wrong. The last time I went, I got the south philly scramble. Salt on top of salt on top of salt. It was inedible. My boyfriend got chicken and waffles. The batter was thick, floury, and tasteless. Other ppl we were with weren't really happy either. I hope they get back on track. I loved the food before and I hope I will again!

In a City of full of insatiable foodies, ruthless critics, and 'hood after 'hood of too-cool-for-school eateries, all vying for fame, the London Grill has certainly slipped off the wagon. No AC and it's 90+ degrees out?! There were fans all over blowing around the musty air. All the poor servers were literally dripping in sweat, trying their best to accommodate an obviously unimpressed audience. I felt bad they were forced to work under these conditions. I didn't even want to imagine what the cooks looked like. Needless to say my appetite was small, all things considered, and I steered clear of the meat. We were even told to avoid certain best sellers on the menu (ie: Lamb Sandwich) because the roasts were over cooked that day, and it wasn't going to be their best show. Good to know.... They tried to seat our party of 8 in a room off the 'green house' before we questioned the heat so much that they prepared a table for us one floor down in a half furnished room that hadn't seen life since.... Eastern State Penitentiary had vacancies? Just an observation. Oh, the food? Honestly mediocre. The Cesar was good. It's been years since I've been here, and I don't put the blame for this on anyone other than owners/mgmt. I just couldn't stop the word "dive" from scrolling through my brain. Get it together, London Grill!

I think there are times when service is so bad that it ruins anything good about a restaurant experience. This was one of those times. We were seated immediately because we had a reservation and the girl who fills your water glasses came along. We sat and waited and sipped our water until it was almost gone and the water girl came back. At this point (at least 20 min later) I asked her if we had a waitress since no one has come by. She apologized and 10 minutes later someone came by (obviously not our waitress) and we just had her take our whole order in fear of never eating. We ordered beers, one of which they were out of, and when my boyfriend took one second to look at the menu the girl left and never came back. We eventually got him a beer by flagging down a random person. That was the theme of the night - random people serving my table after we had to flag them down. Now I need the Yelp community to know I have NEVER done that before ( first because I've never had too and second because I feel rude) but I didn't even know who was responsible for our table. I even had to walk to the hostess station to request our check because no one came by our table for another 20 minutes of waiting. All we got where a couple of apologies and looks of stress- no explanation, no offers of free dessert (the table next to us was apologized to and given free apps). I don't know what the problem was but I'm almost positive the problem started at the managerial level - which is why we didn't skimp on the tip (whoever it went to).

I feel bad writing a bad review :( The place seemed disorganized. We must have had atleast 4-5 different servers come over to our table. There were flies hovering overhead (and we were sitting indoors). The food wasn't all that flavorful or fresh tasting/looking even though the waitress kept telling us everything was made fresh on the premises. Maybe I went on an off day. No idea, but just wasn't impressed enough to want to go back unless it's just to have a beer in the front room.

I used to really love this place as a neighborhood staple, but after a string of recent bad experiences it seems that the service is really not what it used to be. Two bad experiences in particular stick out. First, a weekend brunch where my table was forgotten entirely for almost half an hour. We were just about to leave without ordering when I overheard two waiters asking each other which one of them was responsible for our table. One came over in a panic and asked if we'd been served yet. When we complained about the wait, the server was very apologetic and offered us a round of free drinks. This helped, but I was still kind of annoyed because they weren't particularly busy at the time (several empty tables around us). Then a dinner a month or two later, when we made a reservation and still had to wait about 20 minutes. We actually ended up waiting even longer than that because they wanted to seat us directly next to the bar area, where there was a big crowd making a lot of noise thanks to some bar crawl going on, so we asked to wait for a better seat. But that wasn't really their fault- I just wish the bar was better separated from the restaurant. During our meal, the waitress knocked over my water glass and sloshed my soup onto the table. She cleaned it up, but did not offer to bring a new bowl. I was also given the wrong drink order and my dining companion was served the wrong entree. Our server aplogized for all these mistakes, but she seemed generally distracted throughout the entire meal. Everybody has "off" days, but it seems like London Grill has an off day every time I go.

UPDATE*** Received a call from the manager and was given a gift card for the amount spent on the soup and calamari. I went back with my boyfriend and we had a completely different experience! We both had pasta dishes that were to die for. The service was great, as usual. ***** Went to London about a month ago with my boyfriend. We sat outside, and had a really nice waiter, food was okay, beer was good. Went home and threw up all night long. Had the watermelon soup and the calamari, and I am 100% sure I got sick from one of those things. My boyfriend didn't try any of mine, so he was just up all night listening to me get sick. NOT FUN. I called and was told I would get refunded, but I never got a call back from the manager. Disappointing.

I live in the neighborhood and I love coming here for drinks--the bartenders and staff are great and always genuinely happy to see you. It's also the perfect place to sit outside on a sunny day. I'm vegetarian, so there really isn't anything I can eat here other than tapas (which tend to be fried and greasy). I'll still happily come by for drinks, however the lack of vegetarian food options will keep me from eating here.

I don't understand a pub that doesn't have a pint of Guinness, but does have $25 menu options. Let's make one thing perfectly plain. It's a pub! When one goes out with the mates, one wants a good, affordable pint! I actually found their beer list to be...esoteric. I know it's hip right now to see which American beer can win the 'My beer has the most Hops' award, but can I please just have something drinkable on a hot day in the city?! Guinness?...no. Pilsner Urquell?...no. Fullers?...no. Peroni?...no The discussion went thusly for a little while, until we settled on a local Pilsner, which tasted nothing like a Pilsner, but hey...at least it was $7...'so I got that goin' for me'. Who was is that said 'Know Thyself'? He was reasonably smart if memory serves me. Who on earth goes to the pub for Veal Osso Bucco and grilled calf's liver? IThe menu made me scratch my head more than lick my lips. London Grill has missed the mark pretty badly. I can't say I'll hurry back.

There's nothing quite like the meal you eat after a night out of drinking. Your alcohol induced state brings your taste buds to certain a level of "OMG" when anything edible touches your lips that you could probably eat a deep fried shoe and it would taste like a filet mignon. After a Halloween party, I was craving something fried and delicious, preferably from a diner with bad lighting and waitresses with thick Philadelphia accents and white Easy Spirit shoes. Instead, my friend suggested going to London Grill in the Fairmount section of the city. He was talking up this amazing burger on an English muffin with..... a fried egg on top. Well, that sold me! So we headed on over to London Grill, which just won best burger in Philly in the first-ever city wide 'Burger Brawl'. I was worried and excited at the same time. Would it be able to measure up to my standards? Would this be it? Would I finally find the best burger in Philly? The answer is both yes and no. Yes, the burger was amazing. I got mine topped with avocado, fried onions and boursin cheese. Cooked perfectly medium: Juicy, moist and delicious - everything I could ever ask for! The toasted English muffin reminded me of a home-grilled burger; no pretentious brioche buns here! (They forgot the fried egg, sadly, but I couldn't complain.) And with crispy, handcut fries on the side, the London Burger was a steal at $11. They've also got a great beer selection - including having LOVE STOUT on tap (aka My fav!)

London grill may be my favorite bar in fairnount. Drinks are good, decent wine selection, and my boyfriend loves the beer selection. Bartenders are great and food is pretty good too. Whether it be for brunch, happy hour, or casual date night drinks, London has it all!

Dreadful Rosh Hashanah dinner! Food absolutely stunk. The portions were so small, it was laughable. I mean, it's a holiday for Goodness Sake - could you squeak out a little more challah for the table? Tiny litter apple slivers for the honey. Matzoh ball soup had a petroleum taste, brisket was stringy, vegetables served absolutely cold (I don't care if they were blanched or not). For $35 bucks pp - c'mon, you can do better than that. Plus an $8.00 corkage fee (to open a bottle of wine). Very, very disappointing meal. I hope the year is sweeter than our Rosh Hashanah meal at London Grill.

I think the London Grill just became my new Fairmount favorite. I've lived in the neighborhood for more than a few years now, and have eaten at the London Grill a handful of times. One of which was for brunch, which I will admit put a bad taste in my mouth--would not recommend. But recently, we've started going on Friday and Saturday nights and sitting in the Paris Wine Bar section, and it's like a whole other world down there! If you're dining on the later side you'll likely catch the live entertainment (usually a two or three piece/jazz type), but with or without the live music the experience is just as enjoyable, with it's french decor and ambient candle light. Most importantly, the food continues to be outstanding time and time again. To start they offer warmed bread with their house-infused olive oil, and it keeps getting better from there. If you're hungry and are perusing the appetizers, the savory bbq duck springrolls are a personal favorite. Between my boyfriend and I, we've tried almost every entree offered and have yet to be disappointed. Perfect portions and savory 'til every last bite!

One of my favorite neighborhood spots! This a an awesome place to sit inside or outside with a cocktail or glass of wine. Kelly at the bar always provides great, speedy service and is fun to talk to. I usually come here for their amazing draft wine but the food I have tried - the kale caeser and potato pizza - were delicious! Brunch is next on my list...

I stopped in for drinks on a Sunday and loved it. The bar was pretty quiet, but I loved the atmosphere. The bartender was extremely friendly and they had a few tv's on for football and soccer. The beers on tap were also fantastic and they have a lot of house-infused vodkas: celery, smoked bacon, citrus and horseradish. I think the bacon or horseradish be great for bloody marys which I'm excited to try at some point. I didn't get to try any food, but the food menu also looks great and it seems like they have awesome happy hour specials during the week as well!

Went to their wine bar Paris. Not impressed. Very few wines The decor was horrible. It was like they just had a half thought out idea of what a wine bar should be. They use the grill menu from next door. I mean really. I do not recommend this place. If I could figure out how to give it 1/2 a star I would. Much better wine bars in the city

My co-workers and I have been going to LG for many years for post work week happy hours on Fridays. We've had some legendary, great times there. Over the years, the menu has changed, and now I am finding LG to be a subpar, a-okay happy hour place. Definitely not the AWESOME place it used to be. The happy hour menu has changed over the years, and the foods that are now offered are not nearly as exciting, nor nearly as good as they have been. The drinks however, are stil reliably good. Their flavored vodkas are fanatsic, and in the winter they make a mean cider. Additionally, the beers that are available are plentiful, and they always have a GREAT selection. Lunch and dinner foods are better, a bit overpriced for bar food. Overall, okay. Good food, good drinks exist. Aren't always fairly priced. Good neighborhood joint though. NOT great, but good.

Great food and they let my dog hang out with me outside while I ate and studied

Whenever I tell people that I live in the art museum area, inevitably the first thing out of their mouths is "Don't you love The London??" And I can now finally say that I understand the enthusiasm! Large bar area with a few high tops - lots of seating. I came here for a date who never showed up (lame!) but stayed anyway and enjoyed a glass of red wine and the octopus. Fantastic food, perfectly ok wine, nice atmosphere. Great spot if you're alone, on a date, or with a small group of friends.

Came here to celebrate my son Joey's 5th birthday. He visited us for a week since he lives with my parents (my boyfriend says he's allergic to him) and I was dying to take him out to his first restaurant. He sat in between me and my boyfriend on the floor and was so well behaved that we decided to pour some beer on the ground for him to lick up - it was his 5th birthday after all. Yea so you can bring your dog here, and they'll even bring you a bowl of water for them to chill with. The menu is very English, and that made it really hard for me to choose something to eat...because I didn't really want anything on the menu. It was confusing to pair things together because they had all these delicious sounding sides and these yecky entrees - like calf's liver blech - that I wasn't sure how to game plan my meal. I ended up ordering three sides together while the boo had a burger and the duck egg rolls. The roasted brussel sprouts with bacon are delish, buttery enough that it ends up not being a healthy option. I also got the roasted cauliflower which was meh - tasted like roasted cauliflower, nothing special. I was really excited for the goat cheese polenta. It tasted more like fondue...and not like goat cheese. It was dark so I couldn't see if the color even resembled goat cheese. I used it to dip my cauliflower into, but I regretted ordering it. Should've gotten the bacon apple bread pudding. The duck confit egg rolls were pretty tasty with a dark brown sweet sauce - not sure what it was. The boo's burger was nice - he said it tasted like a burger on an english muffin, which is what it was. I'd rather just go here to drink and eat french fries.

One of my friends used to live in Fairmount and this was a good last-minute dinner spot. Nothing spectacular about the food. The drinks are not that strong for the price they charge. There are definitely better restaurants in this up-and-coming area.

Pretty much a great place for whatever you desire. It's the perfect dichotomy of a fine dining experience and your neighborhood pub. I went here on a review for uwishunu.com but regardless, I'd really been meaning to check the place out for a while. In order to combat Center City's Restaurant Week -- LG introduced a $19 customer appreciation dinner which is available upon reservation. The're the choice of "Surf or Turf." A petite filet mignon served with scalloped potatoes and spinach or the half lobster served atop pasta and red sauce. Both entrees follow fresh salads with some really amazing house-made focaccia and the meal is closed with some really awesome chocolate mousse. In the other side of the restaurant, the bar portion -- I was really impressed with the draft and bottle selection. There's also no shortage of a nice cocktail and wine list. The bar food is definitely a nice change-up from the more expensive restaurant food. It has its own menu to satisfy some late-night cravings from the typical wings, burgers, cheesesteaks to less typical cubano sandwiches and szechuan duck spring rolls. One thing I've heard about that I definitely want to come back and try, are the various hot dogs they have -- pork, buffalo and even duck. The fine dining side of the place is probably something you'd want to reserve for a nice romantic date... and the bar portion is great to just grab some drinks with friends while maybe watching a game on one of their TVs.

Maybe we just ordered the wrong things off the menu, but I've certainly had better food elsewhere. My roasted lamb sandwich on olive bread was certainly nothing to write home about, although the fries that came with it weren't bad. The olive bread, which sounded like a great idea, was oddly flat tasting with no olive flavor or saltiness at all. My dining companion's shrimp and grits were indifferent. I had one bite and didn't ask for another, and yes, we've lived in the deep south and had shrimp and grits before. We both agreed that while we might possibly (not really likely, though) come here again after a morning at the art museum, we wouldn't order these items. To be fair, the service was prompt and friendly., There was a dog sitting at a table outside with its owners, but I can't speak to the bowl of water being offered. The bloody Mary bar appeared to be extensive, but we did not partake of it. The complimentary small plate of fruit with two thin slices of quick bread was a nice touch. The other meals we saw served looked appetizing, but as I said in the beginning, perhaps we just made the wrong choices.

Four of us went here for dinner for the first time last night. The menu looked good, the interior inviting and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately that's about covers it for the positives. My grilled Calf's Liver was overcooked and dry even though I asked for it medium. At $16 for 3 small strips of liver and a tablespoon sized dollop of bacon-onion marmalade, in retrospect I should have sent it back. The grilled hangar steak my friend asked for medium-rare was also overcooked. It came out well-done and had to be returned because it was inedible - unless you like dry, overcooked steak. Then the replacement steak came out VERY rare (cold red center). So after 2 attempts the kitchen still couldn't get it right. The other two dishes we got were ok but no one was particularly thrilled with anything. We thought the sides of goat cheese polenta, oven dried tomato risotto and collard greens & bacon were by far the best things we ate. Service was very inconsistent. While the food came out in a respectable amount of time, the hangar steak that had to be sent back not withstanding, our waitress disappeared for extremely long stretches without checking on us. The service issues might also be compounded by the fact that they have other servers jumping in at various times for bread, water refills, serving, clearing and getting the bill. Including our waitress we saw 4 different people. So I suspect that there's a problem with knowing who's checked on which table and when. Everything is a la carte and the prices are high for the extremely small entree portions (the sides aren't bad however) and the apparent carelessness with which some of the food is being prepared. All of us were disappointed and wished we had gone somewhere else for dinner.

When I first moves to Philly , this was one of my first stops. I ordered the burger and it was so perfect. I'm not sure if I was just really hungry or why the first time but I went for a second time and brought a friend and the same burger I ordered was terrible.... it was completely burnt. My friend ordered the cheese steak whcih was mediocre at best. The waitress recommedned a beer and cheddar soup which i thought was terrible too. I really don't know what happened the second time around at London but it was my so bad, it was my last time there.

My blah Monday ended with a BANG. Dined at London Grill for a "Meetup" of investors to share info on the latest in the investment world. Sadly I was on a diet of sorts. I ordered truffle fries which were delightful. EVERYONE at my table however had all kinds of BURGERS. One had an egg on it and my mouth watered. When I'm feeling carnivorous, vegans are around me and giving the ol granny fist shake. NOW that I was being good, I had 5 huge burgers around me to lust after. None of this is the fault of London Grill and I will be back :)

I loved the location by the penetentiary and the fact that they had outdoor seating, BUT the food was very disappointing. It was just lacking. I tried the grilled octopus salad which was over grilled and chewy. I also had a slice of the potato pizza which I thought was bland as anything. Other than that, the wait was for food was very long, but since it was a fairly nice day out i didn't mind.

The bar area is a great spot for lunch. The selections are varied, so there is something for everyone. It's eclectic, has good energy and is very reasonably priced.

I enjoy the beer selection, beet salad and calamari. Not in love with the food over all. This is a good place if you're looking for a few beers and an appetizer or two...wouldn't suggest the burger- its served on an english muffin- its just mediocre. With that said...its a great place to watch soccer games.

I am somewhat surprised I never wrote a review of this place back in the day. I think they have their stuff down, so I am somewhat surprised this place is rated so low. Food here is ok, but I recommend it for brunch. They even do one of those build your bloodys bar. They have some outdoor seating for summer time and a solarium for the winter time. The bar is small but intimate and the draft selection is also smallish but good choices. They also have a cocktail list.

I had an amazing time at London Grill. I went on a Monday night, and it was "Meatball Monday". Three meatballs for $6, there was chicken, beef, and veal, with amazing sauces and garnishes. My boyfriend and I split this for an appetizer and had the pizza of the day, which was Duck BBQ. Not a combination I have seen before, but delicious nonetheless. We were served delicious focaccia bread with olive oil and this meal was perfect. We both had great seasonal beers, and the draught list was stellar, as most places are in Philly. The service was attentive, but not too pushy. I will be coming back here more often to try other items on the menu. It was a great way to start the work week.

I sat at the bar of this restaurant a few years back, I really enjoyed the drinks and fries! I went again recently for brunch and I asked myself why it's been so much time in between visits. Brunch was very good, I had the pancakes with fresh fruit compote and a side of house made sausage (some of the best sausage I've had in a while!), One friend had the Huevos rancheros and the other had the steak & eggs. We finished our meal with creative drinks from the ever changing list of specials.

(Gourmet) Chicken Nacho's are the bomb! I love them, they are like nacho's but a little foofier, they are pretty clean, as in your fingers are not covered in stuff when you eat them, and everything is very fresh and has a purpose great. I've had some pretty good service, and some really rude and crappy service, so who know what you'll get. The beer selection is not bad either, they usually have 1 or 2 that I really like.

Went there on the Fourth of July, and the waitress made us feel like we were nothing but an annoyance (we were not even drinking, and were courteous). It's not my fault you have to work on the Fourth of July. She unenthusiastically brought us our mac and cheese, which I believe came from a box. Food is mediocre.

"let them eat cake " in celebration of Bastille we wandered up to fairmount to witness history repeat itself ..literally.... We grabbed an outside table and were greeted by our server Lauren ( who rocked by the way) it was close to the reenactment and patrons all around us were leaving to walk down to the penitenuary. I had my heart set of a can of the Sophia "champagne" ( yes it came in a can with a colorful straw) but they had sold out :( after getting over my brief disappointment I switched gears to one of the featured cocktails - headless Maria - vodka, chambord, pineapple and rose sparkling bubbly ! Tre bien dining partner had the French beer special and we ordered the moules frites and a side of truffle fries. Moules were average not great but not bad, they came swimming in a flavorful broth of wine, spices and lemon. Alongside some thin frites they were perfect to share. The truffle fries were the hit of the hour . Just enough truffle to taste and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese made these fries some of the best I have ever eaten. ordered a glass of mount blanc and people watched. London grill is the clear winner of after party spot of the reenactment and as the crowds came we were grateful to have a table. A few misses kept this from being a 5 star review; overly crowded area something that businesses should prepare for and the selling out of bubbly cans . Our server was swamped but still on her A game and made us want to revisit on another nite.

My boyfriend and I do the London grill for the price fix New Years Eve menu with the wine and beer pairing! Everything was outstanding! Tried caviar for the first time and loved it. I was scared to try the sweetbreads but at the urging of our waitress, nicole, I went for it and wasn't disappointed at all. They were amazing! Our entrees, the rib eye and rack of lamb were unbelievable, we cleaned our plates. Dessert was great too and I brought my leftover carrot cake home and they gave me a completely new piece, how sweet! I will definitely be back!

I've been here a few times and every time I am a bit more disappointed with the food. Their bar menu is a typical bar menu ranging from wings to burgers... Nothing special. Their regular menu is a bit overpriced. Happy Hour specials aren't too bad when you want to sit outside and have a couple drinks.

PICS ABOVE Saturday was a real scorcher for April (90 degrees). We found ourselves up in Fairmount and in need of some lunch & refreshment. I saw London Grill and remembered somebody mentioning their burgers were notable so we decided to stop there. Lots of outdoor seating there, which was completely packed. We took a table in the bar and put in our order all at once as the waitstaff seemed to be a bit cramped by the hordes of lunchers that the good weather brought out...seemed to be a common problem everywhere that weekend. On tap were a few interesting options...we ordered a sampler of the Palm Ale, a dry cider which I was unfamiliar with and the Flying Fish Farmhouse Ale. The burger was a massive hunk of meat...it had a good char-grill flavor. Topped with Boursin cheese and served simply on a English muffin, the flavors didn't get lost in a cakey bun or muddled amongst the condiments. The turkey sandwich my wife ordered was like a little slice of Thanksgiving leftovers...a roasted slab of turkey breast served on toasted bun with lots of lettuce & tomato. Fries had all the telltale signs of handcut/homemade. Service wasn't bad as people mention on the boards here...our waitress did a great job and the kitchen was running dishes out to handle the rush.

Love this place! Being a just a few blocks away from home this is a regular part of our 'special meals' places. Wld always suggest make a reservation before hand coz it always is packed!! Food is delightful. Even though i'm a vegetarian it still offers me delicious options! Deserts are pretty stunning too. Bar scene looks great fun too! Must try if in the area!

make your own seems like the way restaurants get out of doing work, eh? but, i gotta say, the make your own bloody mary bar at the london is pretty darn rad. i mean, you choose your alcohol (including a duck fat infused vodka)...and load up on all you want. awesome. i got the chili elizabeth taylor...and i'm not so sure why it's called that, but it's chili topped with a thin layer of cornbread. i die. rock on, london, rock on.

I have not been here in a long time and decided to go the other day. The beer and burger were good. Bartender daytime service was good and friendly. I must say some bartenders act like they could not care if you were there or not. At least she was friendly and sociable good for her.

We did the dinner combo at the London Grill with the Terror Behind Walls attraction ( easternstate.org/hallowe… ). I honestly would have rather went to a fast food chain than that, because the restaurant lied about the portion sizes from the aforementioned webpage. The food was absolutely atrocious. They gave us a brownie for desert. A brownie - at a high class restaurant! The brownie was awful. Hard and tough. and there was a weird liquid that was on the plate with the brownie. God this place sucks. This place is horrible. Save your money and go somewhere else.

We stopped here for post-dinner drinks after eating at Bridgid's. I can't speak to the food (since we didn't order any), but the bar was pretty nice. We got there at around 10pm on a Saturday night and it wasn't that busy. We got a table near the bar and had plenty of room. The beer selection was good (a requisite for me). I got a Brooklyn Pilsner and enjoyed it. The service was OK - a little slow, but the waitress was pleasant. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was that there was a table with middle-aged people making out right next to our table - I mean really making out, not just like a kiss here and there. I found this to be somewhat egregious. This is really not the restaurant's fault, but I just figured I would mention it so if it happens to you, I can say 'I told you so.' Overall, I would consider coming back.

I finally got around to having a meal here with some friends this past weekend. I must say I wasn't impressed with the food. The perogies were the only thing we had that I enjoyed. The ricotta "schmear" smothered the toasted bagette slice so much that the bread tasted soggy and stale. It was way too much. I sampled my friend's potato pizza and it was so disappointing. I highly anticpated this since I love potatoes so much but the truffle oil overpowered instead of highlighting the dish. My friend's brussel spouts smelled like feet- this made my experience even more miserable. I really thought someone took off their shoes ( I know , I know, they're supposed to smell like that- they could have toned them down somehow though!) I have always enjoyed the bar and the selection of beers they have and would return again for that anyday but I think I'll skip the dining experience.

I came here because I had some time to kill before a hair appointment at the Beehive down the street. I decided I had just enough time to casually nurse a nice beer or glass of wine while reading my book. When I got in, I took a seat at the bar, which was about half-full. I decided on what I wanted, then I waited. And waited. I kept looking over at the bartender at the other end of the bar, who was deep in conversation with a waiter there. Every once in a while, she would refill the drink of some dude-bros who seemed to be regulars, and ignore me. I'm not really the type to shout across a bar "HEY LADY!", so I politely waited until I could catch her eye. Mind you, this is around 6 on a weekday, not exactly peak hours. She eventually saw me and gave me my drink for free, but at that point I had about five minutes to guzzle my beer before my appointment. Even with the free drink, it left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't think I'll be back.

One of my favorite neighborhood bar/restaurants. Great ambience, great crowd, great food (especially brunch, though a little pricey, but worth it considering the Bloody Mary bar!), and great beer/liquor selection.

Meh. The place needs an interior overhaul. SHAB-BY! And the restrooms are up a creaky set of stairs and really need re-painted. Oh - but the food. It's just OK. We have been twice - one lunch and one brunch - and I never need to go back. The "Oatmeal Brulee" was really weird. A gloppy pile of oatmeal surrounded by a "creme anglaise" of sorts garnished with berries. Sounded better on paper than it was IRL. The burgers and pastas for lunch were better and are a safer choice. They were very accomodating to our large group with 3 small children and the bartender mixed a TASTY bloody Mary - but hauling kids upstairs to "go potty" while half-drunk is a feat in and of itself. No need to return... Unless you re-model.

My sister and I checked out the London Grill last week for dinner. The entrees seemed OK, but not worth the price so we went with a few appetizers to sample and some drinks... Sadly, all I can say is "meh". If you've never heard that word before, the correct pronunciation is similar to saying "men" but replacing the "n" with a sharp "a"... me-ah. "Meh" is a step up from "eh"... "eh" is just too lazy. Our appetizers were actually good; we did the tuna tartar, wild boar chili, bacon wrapped sea scallops and the Asian chicken salad. The one thing I was not thrilled about, at all, was the beer/liquor mixes. I love good beer and liquor, and maybe it was the one I got, but they mixed a Yards Love Stoudt and Jack Daniels... it had the potential but they didn't hit it out of the park. I hear they have a good brunch so I'll go back for round two this summer...

My first time at London Grill left something to be desired. I jumped on the Groupon for London Grill and was excited to finally go check it out. I went for dinner on an unassuming Tuesday night and made reservations just in case. My friend showed up right around 7:30, but the hostess suggested that we wait at the bar for a few minutes because there was a table in the Atrium that had just gotten their check. 20 minutes later, we were seated. She failed to mention just how hot it gets in the Atrium. It was abnormally hot and humid for so late in the evening, but a little warning and I would've gladly eaten in a cooler part of the restaurant. By the end of dinner I was glistening and my date was miserably hot. I ordered a beer from their monthly special menu and approximately 10 minutes later he arrives and says they're out of the beer. While my date and I were chatty, I didn't expect that the waiter would "give us more time", only to practically disappear for half an hour. We shared the fried clam strips for our starter and were impressed by just how many strips we were given. He had the duck and I had the gnocchi, both of which were phenomenal. Their specialty drink menu is fun and extensive, and my date was impressed by the expansive selection of wine and port. I hope my next visit gets a higher vote.

Came here for a NYE celebration with a small group of best friends. The vibe here is awesome, especially in the wintertime (makes me feel like I'm in a British holiday movie, ie Love Actually). I ordered a burger and it was great. The service was great. The atmosphere was fun. Would definitely come back!
