As good if not better than some of the crepes I had in France. Sometimes quite unusual combinations, but they will custom make your crepe if you have a particular idea in mind. The water with mint is a nice touch.

Overpriced blah food with poor service. My $10 crepe tastes like something I can make at home and was tiny. $4 for a Lipton tea and a refill is another $4. Service was unfriendly.

After not having indulged in a sweet crepe in a long time (how does over a year sound?) my boyfriend and I saw La Creperie Cafe and decided to run in for our favorite, Nutella et Fraise (Nutella with strawberries). The crepe skin was very crispy. I don't consider myself an expert on crepes by any means but I wish that the crepe hadn't turned out this way. Then again, what do I know? Our server was very friendly and chatted in French with another patron, which at least added to the restaurant's authenticity, along with the soft, romantic-y French music playing in the background. I didn't feel the size or texture of the crepe (or the amount of the ingredients within) warranted the pricetag - $8 for the aforementioned crepe.

I'm so glad to have discovered this gem! The service was fantastic - the staff is from Cote D'Ivoire and is so friendly and gracious, and couldn't have been more gracious when we all decided to practice our rusty French. Their recommendations were thoughtful, plates were cleared quickly and water constantly refilled. In addition to the crepes, which are good (perhaps slightly overpriced for quality, but a deal considering the location and service) they have a fantastic, faintly tropical creme-brulee with burnt orange and the fresh-pressed ginger juice was so vibrant and delicious.

We split an excellent savory crepe and delicious dessert crepe for lunch. The waitress (who we assume is the owner) was great and she makes an amazing salad dressing that you can get to go in small amounts. The furniture was wobbly but more interesting than most. We will definitely go again.

The owners, from Cote D'Ivoire, know how to prepare their crepes. I could easily eat 3 or 4 in one sitting based on how delicious they are. All ingredients seemed fresh and there was always a large bottle of water nearby. I think it's a tad expensive for it's quality, but understandable for their location. It did take maybe a few minutes too long for the crepes to come out, but you can tell they love their work and will take the necessary time with it.

When we came in, the waiter sit us but did not give menu. We had to wait like 8 minutes before he came back and we had to ask him for menu. The menu in general seemed good, but when we got an order, crepes were very greasy and not very tasty. Tomatoes were old. Sweet one was better, but not great.

I am surprised why the ratings are so bad for this place. I would give it a five if it was not *slightly* expensive. I loved the crepes. I have tried both sweet ones and savory ones. Crepes are thin and crispy, so if you are a fan of thick crepes (and you have tried both thin and thick ones and still you like the thick crepes ;) ) not your place. If you like thin crispy oh-my-god-seems-like-I-am-in-Paris crepes, then you should not waste one second to come here. Ambiance is quiet and it is nicely decorated :-) The outside is very French too.

Absolutely amazing crepes, made with amazing ingredients. Le Creperie Cafe's crepes are some of the most authentic I've had this side of Paris. Service is quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is cafe-cute. Bonus for their French pop and lounge music. Most crepes will average you $8 - $13, so I wouldn't call this place expensive, at all.

We went to Le Creparie for lunch on Saturday. Such an adorable place - the water is served in these lovely bottles with a sprig of mint and wedges of lemon. The crepe options were almost overwhelming - but I was a trooper and found something - decadent? Indeed! Would I do it again? Let's not be silly! Of course I would :) and I wasn't the only one. My friends and I ordered 3 desserts to try. plates cleaned and satisfied. The best part? The waiter insisted that I should try to speak a little french when I come in - Merci La Creperie Cafe! You are magnifique

The food is very good, but what brings this place down is the service. My fiance and I came here for post church Sunday brunch, and it was understandably quiet. The red flags started to go up when we were brought another table's order, which is entirely understandable and easily corrected. However, you would expect that if a restaurant makes a mistake like that they would knock something off the bill. This didn't happen in our case. When we brought the error to the attention of our waiter, he brought us the appropriate menu items, but the bus boy subsequently mumbled something snarky in reference to the water, which was very odd.

La Creperie? More like La Craperie! Where, oh where, shall we start. As we entered the restaurant, there was not the usual murmur or quiet roar one would normally find in a Center City restaurant, on a Thursday night. The number of patrons plus the lone waitress equaled one. Bad omen number 1. After choosing our table and sitting down, we were offered water to drink in grimy, food-encrusted glasses. The cutlery and dishes also suffered from a likewise lack of cleanliness. Bad omen number 2. My plate was promptly changed with one at an adjacent table. Usually that works out as a win, but in this case, the replacement plate was even greasier. Never mind the dried flakes of leftovers on this plate, nor the sticky quality that it was currently possessed of. No, there were multiple thumb and finger prints all over the plate, impressions left through the layer of filmy, dried up soap water. As we perused the menu, passerbyers peered at us - faces contorted with pity. Bad omen number 3. We settled for some savory crepes, one the Jambon et Champignons (Ham, Mushrooms, Herbe de Provence) and La Norvegienne (Smoked Salmon, Brie, Zucchini & Basil). The brie was substituted with mozzarella. When the crepes came out, the La Norvegienne was especially notable for it's generous lack of mozzarella - a fact which we reluctantly forgave since the waitress was nowhere to be seen. The Jambon was magnificently and overly seasoned with a ratio of 3 parts salt to 1 part crepe. I compensated by drinking 3 parts water to 1 breath of air. The La Norvegienne was delightful repugnant, as the crepe came out lukewarm, salmon uncooked (mostly), and zucchini sparsely adorned. A good proportion of the crepe was especially notable for it's lack of other ingredients. Naturally, we resolved to revisit this restaurant as soon as it changed ownership and served fare entirely unlike what they currently passed off as "The finest crêpes in town!" When the check came, we were surprised to find that the substitute non-existent mozzarella in place of brie came with a charge. The waitress was immediately informed of this pricing error, to which she responded that all restaurants charge a fee for substitutions. Not disputing this fact, we gleefully informed her that most restaurants would have also have informed their patrons of said fee, in addition to also serving the modified dish with requested substitution. In her attempt to rectify this error, she shouted upstairs to the cook, "Did you put cheese in the La Norvegienne?" The cooked, in turn, shouts back, "The what? Oh, yes, sure did!" The waitress beams at us as says, "See? She did put cheese." Although that, as they say, is that, I persisted in my ill-begotten opinion that we actually ate the crepe, and it was quite memorable for it's lack of fromage. The back and forth persisted for another 10 minutes before the waitress, in a drastic change of heart, agreed to call the owner to rectify her problem (us). The voice on the other end of the line guided her in pushing the right combination of buttons that would cancel our current check and print out a correct one. By that time, 20 more minutes had elapsed. When we egressed from the restaurant, realizing that 90 minutes of our finite lifespan had expired, along with our high spirits, we rushed to the nearest Wawa to fill our stomachs with smoothies, chocolate-covered donuts, and anything else that would erase the taste and memory of La Craperie.

Decided to come here for a mid afternoon brunch for hangover relief. I previously purchased the $15 for $30 groupon and decided today was the fateful day to use it. Arrived at La Creperie around 2:00pm only to find it empty save for two or three tables. Come to think of it, every time I've walked by this place or eaten here, no matter what time of day, it's EMPTY. Dying restaurant? Perhaps. In defense of La Creperie and in disagreement with previous reviews, service was fine. Guess it's hit or miss. Our crepes came out fairly quick. I had the La Gitane--bacon, some kind of cheese, onion, and herb de provence--and my gf had one with mushrooms, ham, some kind of cheese. I can't remember exactly what we got simply because it wasn't memorable. It was good, just nice, simple, and flavorful. However, for what it was, I think the price points are too high. At the end of the meal I was satisfied, but maybe even still a slight bit hungry? In comparison, go to the crepe place on Penn's campus and you get a monster sized crepe for $7. Granted, it isn't as tasty and delicate, but it serves me TWO meals, a feat that should not go without praise. So is 75% of a meal worth twice the price of a meal worth 200% stomach full-ness? Everyone still with me? haha. Unfortunately, the answer is no. The price is just above the line of what I'd be willing to pay given quality and size. So is that what keeps La Creperie empty? I think that's part of it. The reasons why I give this place three stars ends here, but I will offer up my opinion on what other factors might be making this a less than appealing dining spot given its populated center city location. 1. I'd rather go here on a cold rainy day than a warm and sunny. It's sooo stuffy in there, the windows don't open, and air circulation is poor. I feel like a caged animal in there when the weather is nice. 2. Location. Sansom street has a lot of hidden gems on it, but I don't think it gets the walking traffic that it deserves. 3. Decor. The tables will rock back and forth with the slightest touch of an arm. My girlfriend commented that she felt she was in the Caribbean, not France. 4. The double edged sword - I think when people see an empty restaurant, they wonder what's wrong with it. And they will skip over it. In conclusion, if you read this essay on La Creperie, bravo. I hope you find it useful. All things considered, this place is the definition of mediocre.

my experience here was fairly mediocre. i didn't encounter any problems with service or the furniture as other yelpers may have pointed out. i love when a real french person takes your order, because they actually pronounce everything the way it's supposed to sound. really makes me miss speaking french. the food was slow to come out, but i guess it's to be expected when you place 8 orders out of the blue during the restaurant's non-busy hours. (are there ever any busy hours here? from the other reviews, it seems not...) the food was fine. but that's just the problem, it wasn't memorable. it wasn't filling. it was just like any other plain old crepe. $12 later and i still left the restaurant feeling not completely satisfied.

I'm a big fan of crepes with nutella. I decided to get the crepe with nutella, banana and coconut. I liked it, but tbh, I think it was a little light on the nutella. I'll have to check out the other creperies. In terms of atmosphere, its kinda dead. There was no one there when we went. The plus side was there was fast service, but makes you wonder if there's something I'm missing. Probably won't be coming back here anytime soon, there seem to be a lot of creperies around town that I want to explore first.

Not sure why this place doesn't have better rating. The crepes are delicious. Our server was extremely gracious and the place is very Parisian cute with cane furniture and all. I had the lamb sausage and swiss cheese crepe which I highly recommend. For dessert I shared the nutella and strawberries crepe. It was good too but I think a little too light on the nutella for my taste. Didn't completely satisfy my chocolate craving. The cafe au lait was good too. Just wish it were a little less expensive.

Excellent crepes this side of the Atlantic! We've had them in both Paris and Aruba and by far these are the best we've ever had! Friendly service as well. We had crepes with Nutella and apples and could have easily eaten another it was so good. We will be back to this lovely establishment for breakfast or brunch. Thank so much for the great eats!

I had a good time but I used a Groupon and reviewing objectively here, this place is WELL OVERPRICED. The taste is amazing, but the portions are very sad. First off, what it is with the seating? Get some booths in there please. I was worried about splinters even more so than when my food would come out. Also, the water was warm. I came in really thirsty and they give out warm water? I never had that experience anywhere. The service was really good at least. Very, very friendly and timely waiter! The grub: I ordered Paella. I was aware of potential underwhelming portions and figured to get something carb-heavy to ensure a sate appetite. The Paella was very good but there were maybe 6 tiny pieces of cut-up chicken in it. Delicious, but why so stingy on the meat? Smoked Salmon Crepe -- about 7 bites worth max but definitely the best of the three dishes I had. Awesome texture all around and great saltiness on the fish side of things. Nutella/Strawberry Crepe: definitely the best nutella and strawberry crepe I have had. Some people complain about the crisp, but I think the crisp made it so good. If you are going for floppiness why not just get pancakes. Crisp crepes prevent the awful mess with crepes where they sometimes fall apart. The strawberries actually added flavor unlike some places where they are just wet, cold, and flavorless. Conclusion: outrageous prices, but if you pay blindly, you tastebuds will at least be quite happy.

I went to La Creperie Cafe with lower expectations based on the reviews here, but was pleasantly surprised. We got 3 crepes (2 savory and 1 sweet) on our $30 Groupon. All had the same light, buttery crepe outside: -La Normande - generous portion of oozy mozzarella with apples and tomatoes (my preference between the two savory) -Jambon Champignons et Fromage - nicely marinated mushrooms complemented the ham -Oh La La - out of the numerous Nutella options, we chose bananas and Grand Marnier. They're a little skimpy on the bananas, but it's tasty! Beware that the A/C was not running as of early May, so ask for a seat by the door for better air circulation Even if you don't have a Groupon, get a deal on their website for 10% off: lacreperie-cafe.com/Coup…

3.5 stars! My lady friend had a craving for sweet crepes. She suggested this place, and i hadn't had crepes in long time. It was a weekday afternoon so the place was fairly empty (only one table filled but left a few minutes after we arrived). It was pretty fun reading the menu in french and i was contemplating whether i should order in french too??? but i didn't. My lady friend ordered the Nutella and strawberry crepe, and i ordered the Jambon Champignon and Fromage (ham, mushroom and cheese) crepe. We skipped on drinks and water was fine. The food came out in a timely fashion (i assume bc we were the only ones in the place). I really enjoyed my crepe, it was on a salty side, probably because of the ham, but it was still good. I tried some of the sweet crepe from my lady friend and it was good as well! Overall, the place was good. The interior is no frills, but it did feel like it was trying too much to be parisian cafe that it came off a bit generic?

Went here last week after not eating here for over five years. Hasn't changed a bit. Slow service (just like France), great crepes (just like France), unpretentious setting (just like France), French music playing (just like France) and most important, cutest French waiter (just like France)!! This isnt a date place. Its not a good place to serve a large group of people, not a good place for children and isnt the type of place if you have sooo many dietary restrictions. Go in, enjoy a fantastic crepe and leave. It's that simple.

Armed with my $20 living social deal I tried La Creperie Cafe today. I walked in and to my surprise the place was pretty empty. The host/waiter brought me to my wobbly table for 1 and left me with the menu. If crepes are your thing, there are many to chose from. I went with Feta et Lardon and Suzette, both poor choices. The bacon was dried , almost like beef jerky, not crispy or flavorful. The Suzette was awful and tasted sour; after 1 bite the fork went down and I asked for my bill. Granted I am not sitting in a Paris cafe but a street on Sansom Street; but i just thought this would be better. If I want crepes I will go to France.

OK - there are many, many things wrong with La Creperie - but I will start with the positives. 1. Our server Christine - was incredibly sweet, attentive and accurate. 4 stars for her! 2. The actual crepe itself is tasty - not too greasy nor too dry and is made of white flour (not buckwheat which the true Breton crepes are made). 3. Our large party of 8 was accomodated with separate checks OK where to start on the bad stuff. 1. The ancient rattan chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. So much so, that I had to switch to a wooden chair (there are a few available so try to sit at a table with the cheap wood chairs). 2. They got my order wrong (A salade Le Melange with no onion and fresh tomato subbed for sundried). Once corrected the fresh tomatoes were rotten and tasted so bad that I could not eat the salade. 3. The prices are INSANE for the quality. My Lemon & Sugar crepe was $6.75 - which is OBSCENE. The rotten tomato salade was $12. That's over $20 when you add tip & tax for a salade and a dessert crepe - no beverage. 4. The restaurant was dead-empty except for our large party of 8 from when we arrived at 7:00 until after 9:30 when we left. (This could be viewed as a pro and con in one.) I think there is a REASON people are not coming here. Yes the quality is better than "crepe maker" in 30th Street station - but the crepes at Profi's in Reading Terminal Market as just as good, way cheaper and (if you can deal with crowds 7 stools) possibly just as comfortable of an atmosphere. My next stop with be Beau Monde (who's prices are even HIGHER) for true Breton crepes. I pray I am not disappointed. Sorry La Creperie, but ya let me down. Save for Christine. She's been there 3 years - one night a week - and she is terrific. She even adjusted my bill for the inedible salade. (I feel so very French spelling salad with an "e").

The portion is small and the taste is average, I do not think its worth your $15 for their crepe, there are much better options for crepe else where. They charged me additional $10 tip for a $28 meal when I left $5 cash, $5 is 17% tip, but $10 is 35% tip! Way to tip for average service! The additional tip was charged without my authorization on my credit card... way to surprise me... I'm never going back there. Please save your self some $ and take your business else where for sub-par crepe and scammy waiter.

I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS PLACE. The atmosphere itself was nice and very French. Service sucks though. I came into an empty café and the waitress told me I had to wait to be seated. We were the only two in the room. She had an attitude, too :/ Anyway, the menu was amazing, so many to choose from! Props for originality. But so not worth the price at all. I paid almost $20 on two tiny, crispy (crêpes AREN'T supposed to be crispy!), dry, flavorless crêpes. Needless to say, I was super disappointed. I left, sad and still hungry.

Saw a $30 Groupon and with my love for crepes, figured this place was worth a shot! Went there with my boyfriend and we waited to be seated. In waiting, we observed two servers and about 5-6 other tables seated with patrons. We were seated after a few minutes and given menus. We then watched the two servers walk by several times and have a disagreement with a patron. A table of two ladies sat patiently for several minutes and tried to paid cash but was told they did not have any change. They had to rush back to lunch after waiting to pay and then being told they did not have any change prompted their exit without paying the full tab. At this point, a few other tables had cleared out so they were not busy.. though it still took what felt like an eternity to get water and order. 3 Min: Seated 13 Min: Asked for water 18 Min: Received water 28 Min: Asked to order 31 Min: Order taken 44 Min: Food served I parked at a meter and at this point, I wasn't sure if we would even have time to chew our food! The portions and quality didn't warrant the price tag (fortunately we had a Groupon). Our crepes were very crispy and a bit burnt at the top. Can I say, overpriced and disappointed? I won't be returning but I do hope it was a one time incident.. for their sakes. They certainly didn't leave a good impression on me or my boyfriend.

Never have I had such a delicious crepe outside of Paris, maybe even in Paris. I ordered 3 crepes ($30 Groupon), 2 savory, 1 sweet, and each was the essence of perfection. The crepe itself was soft with a warm buttery flavor and had a slight crispiness to the outside. Just incredible. The inside was well seasoned (savory) and had just the right balance of ingerdients. After taking the first bite, it was so good that I didn't know if I could stop myself from stuffing it into my mouth as fast a possible, but I knew that I should slow down to savor every morsel. The service was perfection and the only drawback was the slightly high prices. But hey, you get what you pay for. I will definitely be coming back...and bringing all of my friends :)

This place is an unquestioning 3 stars. The crepes were good and the menu was interesting. I had one with turkey, goat cheese, apples, and almonds. However, while this sounded mind-blowing, it was just fine. And a little too salty. I'm thinking in the future I will be back for desert crepes.

Came here for some dinner just before it closed for the night. I had the feta and bacon crepe, which was good, but there wasn't much to it. If I had the motivation I could probably make this at home. However, my friend had one of the special crepes which had couscous inside and some salad on top. That seemed like a better deal. The waitress was nice, but nothing about this place made me want to come back. Brad's rating (out of 5): Food: 3 Price: 3 Decor: 3 Service: 4 Wild card: sweet and savory crepes, plus french movie nights on Thursdays

The food was actually very good, but didn't really stand out. The waitress was friendly and helpful, but as a whole, I was left wanting more, and not in a good way. The place was deserted. I doubt I'll be back. For the cost, I'd rather go somewhere else.

Eating crepes here for lunch on a Friday was a strange experience. At first glance, it seemed 'cute' and 'quaint', but see how often you use those words after sitting in a flimsy rattan chair for an 1.5 hours. The service was decent, and I enjoyed the French inspired music. I ordered L'Orientale, a sort of open-faced crepe, stuffed with "Couscous, Chicken Breast, Dry Raisins, Olives, Green Peppers, Tomatoes, Olive Oil, Garlic, and Herbe de Provence", to quote their site. Romaine lettuce was served on the side. For $15, it was fulfilling and fairly tasty, though the chicken was a little dry. I then split a sweet crepe with strawberries, bananas and Grand Marnier with my friend. This one was very satisfying, and served very quickly because they had already made the crepe for someone else who ended up not getting it. Ummm.....ok. I guess I'll take speed over freshness on a lunch break. My issues arose when the bill came and I realized that we had dropped $60 on lunch for two in a pretty shabby setting with no alcohol other than what appeared in our sweet crepe. Fair enough, it's the city. The actual problem occurred an hour later when I became nauseous, which only increased throughout the afternoon. Was it the green peppers? The bananas? The raw qualities Abigail's review refers to? I don't know, but I may suggest that they remove this place from the Not For Tourists guidebook, at least until they come up with sturdier furniture and less nauseating food.

When a place has been around for this long and serves mostly the type of food everyone tends to love like crepes AND only has a 3-star rating, you know you will either hate this place or just think it's fine. I decided to try it even though my Paris-obsessed buddy told me it wasn't worth it but there was a groupon offer so why not. I first came in for lunch and after noticing that the service was nonexistent, we decided to leave and come back for brunch another day. Unfortunately, the same thing happened during brunch except the place wasn't any fuller but there seemed to be 3 more ppl on staff--can you say clusterf#*%? Regardless of what was going on behind the scenes, the service is nonexistent here. It's not that it's bad, it just doesn't exist, so be ready for that. The decor is just like the service, 'nuff said. The menu is extensive but I hope the beverages are damn good because they're expensive. I can understand $3 coffee but this place charges like it's Parc or Rouge on Rittenhouse, unfortunately, it's an anonymous place on Sansom. So enough moaning and groaning and onto the food. 2 words come to mind, 1. GREASY, and 2. overpowering. Crepes are delicate things and this place doesn't seem to respect that. The crepes were literally translucent from all the grease/oil and although flavor is not lacking (their jambon and lamb sausage are very tasty, they use fresh vegetables like freshly chopped green bell peppers and onions, and you can never go wrong with Nutella!), at the end of the meal all I wanted was 10 glasses of water to wash everything down (to no avail because no one came to refill our glass during the entire hour we were sitting there). Fortunately Slice is 2 doors down and their grease is justifiable, welcomed and delicious.

The good: The food was tasty. I was served a crepe with turkey, goat cheese, apples, and almonds. I had never had a savory crepe with apples, and was pleased with the flavor. The bad: I was served that crepe, but it wasn't what I ordered. I didn't want to send it back because the waiter, who seemed to only speak French, was running around like a chicken with his head cut off, even though there were only two other tables in the cafe. My cousin's order was wrong too, but she also just ate what she was served. Like I said, they were good, so we weren't really complaining. But then we got the bill, and realized that the crepes we were served were each $3.50 more expensive than the ones we had ordered. So the service is my main complaint. The waiter didn't write our orders down, walked away from the table before we had finished our order, brought the wrong food, didn't check in with us after, brought our salad way after we had finished the crepes, never refilled our water glasses, but was real quick to bring and collect the bill when it was all over. So yeah, the food tasted good. But... I don't think I would go back.

3.5 We loved everything we ordered... We started with the warm goat cheese salad with walnuts and sundried tomatoes. I thought I knew what this flavor combination would taste like, but it was so much more interesting than I expected. For our entrees, our clear favorite was the tomato, feta & basil crepe. It made my mouth melt! All of the dessert crepes sound delicious -- we loved the nutella, banana & coconut. Service was slow, but we weren't in a rush and they seemed to accommodate another table who needed to leave quickly.

Have been here twice - I really wanted to like this place! Service was terrible - I think there is only 1 guy that works there - normally I am patient but he was extremely rude. My strawberry and nutella crepe was BURNT and had maybe 4 strawberries and a spoonful of nutella. Could have made a better one at home. Will never go back

This place is just average to me. The best thing about it was probably the crepe which as one review mentioned, it was quite delicate. We also order a Cafe Au Lait and the Paella. The Coffee was fair, but it was messy. The Paella was decent, but he failed to give us plates for it... he expected us to eat out of the stone pan that is still burning hot. The decor doesn't really fit and looks more of a summer home. All made of some type of bamboo wood, I think they might have done better placing a glass top on the taps so none of the remnants get caught in edges. Be forewarned, if you plan to use toe Groupon coupon, they will charge you 20% tip, even though the coupon does not state so. I didn't bother to argue it, it wasn't as though the service was horrible... except horribly slow. We waited for the food for a good 45 minutes and only had about 15 minutes to eat it.

This place was OK...but only OK. The crepes were so underfilled....I honestly think I got one tiny piece of olive in my vegetarian crepe. The best one was the nutella and strawberry crepe....and it's pretty hard to screw that up. As other reviewers said, there was no A/C. The service was OK...the waiter wasn't overly friendly nor did he refill our water glasses more than once, but he wasn't mean and our crepes came out pretty quickly. Wouldn't go back...

I called ahead to order a crepe and a quiche to go but the lady that answered the phone said they don't do that. I asked if I went and ordered the food and wanted to take it with me could I do that, she obstinately responded they could not do that. My mom's recovering from surgery with little to no appetite and she was craving a crepe so I was determined. I showed up with my own plastic to go recipients to put my food in and found a completely empty restaurant with a lone waiter. I sat at the bar and explained what I wanted and he explained I needed to sit at a table because "she does not like people sitting at the bar". Interesting since there are at least 6 bar chairs.... Mmmkay. I ordered my crepe and quiche and he returned to inform me it might take a whole because they "needed to turn the stove back on". Whut??? I know this wasnt the middle of the lunch craze (if they have one), it was 2:30pm but I wouldn't guess turning a stove on would be so tedious. I asked if they close during the day but he said they're open until 10pm. Je ne comprend pas!

I've eaten here numerous times and every time it's been absolutely fantastic. Great food, nice people, calm and quiet place. Their crepes are the best crepes I have ever had. Amazingly delicious. I recommend this place to my friends all the time. I've always heard great things from them as well.

Although the crepes were good, they were not very filling. Also, I was cheated out of more than $15 of my Groupon. When I tried to order a dessert, I was informed that the kitchen had closed, even though I am sure I placed the order before the restaurant was closed. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Here's a place I forgot to review! I've been here twice, once for brunch, and once to indulge upon some serious crepes. it has a serious variety for both options. I believe that they also have a special French speaking night each week where you can brush up on your language skills. As far as the crepes go it's no Beau Monde. but it is a little bit cheaper. they have a good deal of varieties that can either be loaded up with fruit and sweetness, or lamb sausage, seafood, etc. But I prefer La Creperie for it's brunch options. Last time I was here I ordered L'Opera , and it was loaded with lamb sausage, scrambled eggs, and broiled potatoes. I'm only taking a star off for service. both times they were quick and easy to please. But they were pretty much all business and no small talk. We didn't even get so much as a hello back whenever we offered one up as a greeting. talk about distant.

This place has very authentic and delicious crepes. Slow service? Did you notice how the people running the place are actually French? Get over it, this is how its done. Its not that they are inattentive, they just take their time. The food is fantastic, in my opinion. The crepes de Gruyere, oeufs, champigions, et creme fraiche has a very subtle flavor, but one that a discerning palate can appreciate. I often make the trip across town (past Beau Monde, even tho they are really good, too) to visit this place. They don't get 5 stars because the seating is terrible. I seriously wonder what they were thinking with this uncomfortable and bulky rattan porch furniture.

We bought the groupon ($15 for $30 to spend) and were pretty excited to try it since we walk by all the time. The reviews definitely weren't great so we went in with lowered expectations but I have to say the crepes were great. We went in not planning to spend more than $40ish since the reviews were meh but by the end I couldn't help but order a desert crepe which brought us up to about $50. We had three savory crepes: Lamb sausage; turkey, goat cheese, apple something; and ground beef. All of them were great! For dessert we had the strawberries + chocolate + creme fraiche. And as far as service goes, I really liked our serves, we was attentive and not pushy (I hate people who try to push you to get x, y, z extra things). We'll be back, though probably for lunch where we can get away with only getting one crepe each and keeping the price under 30.

Interested in having dinner in the middle of a heated domestic dispute? Me and my fiance had dinner here last friday night, and it was a disaster. For starters, their credit card machine was down (but he failed to mention that until he gave us the bill) and there was general pandemonium from a payment perspective. This is obviously a minor issue. But the story continues Our dinner felt like we were in the middle of a domestic dispute. The poor waiter guy was the only person on, and he was constantly in heated, loud yelling arguments with "Fatima", the chef (and I presume his wife) upstairs in the kitchen. At least the arguments were in French (how authentic!) Anyhow, the table next to us ordered a crepe that normally included cheese. The woman specifically said "I'm allergic to cheese" and requested it be left off. when he delivered the crepe the woman said "I'm sorry, but this still has cheese in it." He took the plate upstairs, where there was Armageddon in the kitchen. I took a little french in high school, and I could make out the following: server: Fatima, I forgot to say she was allergic to cheese Fatima: I don't care, they still have to pay for it and various iterations of that until the server came down, shame faced, and tried to give the cheese crepe back to the woman who would obviously have health issues if she ate it. THEY MADE HER PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT CREPE BECAUSE THEY SCREWED UP!! inexcusable i feel bad because the server was having an awful tme (and this kitchen dispute took, no joke, 10 minutes and everyone in the place was silent and uncomfortable for the next 30). They ran out of cash to make change and it took him 30 minutes to catch up and clear tables after the throwdown with Fatima. anyhow, to make a long story long, the "dinner theater" merely exacerbated the slow service, lack of credit card machine, and OK food.

What a cute little spot in Philly Center City! Its a cute little cafe, simple looking with comfy couches at the back Our waitress is so sweet - soft spoken, friendly and French. Adds to the charm of this cosy creperie. The smoked salmon with Salade D'ici was exquisitely done - if i may say exquisite. All the crepes here are good - no complaints And for dessert, the nutella & strawberries crepe is SO GOODDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The place is cute enough.... I guess. The tables are a little too close together for my taste, but I guess that doesn't matter because the place was empty!!! So then, please tell me WHY, with so much space in the place, our waitress crammed other patrons at the 3 tables closest to ME?? That's a serious pet peeve of mine. I like to BREATHE, and I honestly felt suffocated. Their crepes fall into 5 different categories :Les Bourgeoises (rich and light taste), "Les Classiques (traditional taste), Les Savoureuses , ( seafood delight ), Les Tentantes (very creative mix), and Les Rebelle (Revolutionary, delicious taste, Pizza Crêpes). Then,of course, you have the brunch menu and the sweet crepes. I ordered the Chatelet" off the brunch menu. It's a savory crepe with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, swiss cheese with boiled sautéed potatoes for $13.00. I thought it might taste better w/ onions, so I asked for them, and I was right. It was DELICIOUS! My potatos were just ok. My bf ordered a sweet crepe with banana, strawberry and nutella. he wasn't impressed. He thought it was too "crispy." We both ordered black tea to drink, but they did have a variety of loose teas to choose from as well. Overall, I'd say, the place is far too overpriced, because it simply doesn't have the ambience to charge so much money. They're also pretty stingy on the portions. We will returm, but RELUCTANTLY! lol

like a lot of reviewers here, I came here because of a living social deal. We ordered 2 dessert crepes and they were excellent. There were only 2 or 3 other parties when we were there so we had no problem with the service. But I could tell that they don't have fast or super attentive service which might be a problem when it's busier (then again this is just my guess). I would come back for the dessert crepe.

Stick to the crepes, which are wonderfully light (not on the calories) and crisp, but pass on the appetizers, drinks etc.

This place is cute. The waiters are very sweet (and French!). My boyfriend and I had to climb over tables and chairs to get to our seat - the tables are very crowded and the tables and chairs feel very flimsy. The menu is had a lot of different, interesting options for savory crepes. The sweet crepes menu was very standard and uninteresting. My boyfriend ordered the lamb sausage crepe, and I ordered the strawberries and sugar crepe. My crepe was pretty boring and standard. However, my boyfriend's crepe was delicious! Okay, so they need to upgrade and rearrange their furniture. I would say come here for the nice atmosphere, the sweet service, and the bomb-diggity crepes.

Ventured in here because of a Groupon deal. We ordered sweet crepes and what arrived were crunchy crepes with sparse filling. Because the crepes were so crunchy, it was difficult to cut through them. After attempting to saw through these things with the table wobbling like crazy, I ended up spilling half of my coffee. The table also had nails sticking up out of it on my fiance's side and she jabbed her elbow on them. Get some real tables! Service was okay, but the crepes aren't very good, the table was wobbly and dangerous and it was too warm inside the cafe. We won't be going back.

Their slogan is "The Finest Crepes in town!" - and I might have believed that about the location in Phoenixville - but the La Creperie Cafe in Philly left me underwhelmed. It seemed they rested their laurels on a waiter knowing how to pronounce thing in French. I had something with ground beef, some sort of cheese, onions and herbs. It was a bit on the dry side and the crepe seemed overall uninspired - a problem as the waiter described the section of the menu I ordered from was supposed to be the owner's specialties. Ingredients weren't what I normally think of from a Philly Creperie. The meal was way overpriced, the portion smaller than most crepe places I've been and the restaurant lost and extra star for serving me my coke in a can. Watch your bill. We had a change to a crepe - from goat cheese to swiss - and they tried charging $3.50 for the cheaper cheese. Tea was 5 bucks, cokes were expensive too. I'm voting pass.

A charming cute lil place with simple decor. The menu is simple too, but delicious. Hv been there a couple of times with my Friday lunch group since the portions are not huge n it also suits the budget. Delicious n awesome crepes. Vegetarians also hv a good choice since my wife prefers veggie crepes. We def do wanna try their deserts soon. Def recommend this.

My friends and I loved to hang out in La Creperie on the weekends. This place has pretty authentic crepes. Do try both savory and sweet crepes as they are all really good! I especially recommend the La Complete (with a sunny side up). Very yummy! There aren't that many choices for their drink menu, but they do have fresh orange juice. It is not a fancy cafe, but it's a great place to have good crepes and hang out. Definitely recommend to crepe lovers!!

La Creperie is a cute space that is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. The service was slow (one waitress?), the decor was closer to Little Havana than France, and the food was so-so. My friend and I ordered a salad to start with warm goat cheese and sundried tomatoes to start. The dressing was a honey mustard something or other, which just didn't go well. The goat cheese was really gritty, to the point where I said it reminded me of eating sand. The menu is huge, but pricey, and I have to disagree with other Yelpers who say this place is authentic. They have a Philly cheesesteak crepe on the menu- that is about as far from authentic as you can get. Nevertheless, I had a seafood crepe with shrimp, tomato and mushroom in a white wine sauce. It was more like a tomato sauce and mushroom filled crepe with four shrimp on top. The flavor was decent, but it wasn't what I was expecting from the menu description. My friend created her own crepe, but was less than thrilled. It wasn't a complete waste of time, but I won't be back anytime soon.

As soon as I saw the yellow hipster kitten heels and cankles approaching us I should've run full speed anywhere else. Based on my love of crepes and fabulous experiences at every other creperie I've encountered I thought La Creperie Cafe live up to my basic crepe standards. I am fully aware that no one will beat Beau Monde, but what I didn't expect was the raw flour and pancake tasting oddly layered and barely filled mess that was placed in front of me. The food was awful, the service was worse and when I complained about the inedible food I heard a very loud and angry cook yelling about it. Awesome. Stay away, far, far away.

I went to La Creperie Cafe twice, but only ate one meal. The first time we waited 30 minutes for our food, before canceling our order and just leaving because we had to made an appointment. The second time we went for Sunday brunch. The service was a complete mess. Both my friend and I had to change our orders because the kitchen was out of key brunch ingredients including smoked salmon and basil. A few minutes later the waiter returned to our table to ask what we had ordered (Really? Use a notepad). It probably took 10 min to get water, another 5 to get glasses, 20 minutes to get coffee, and 40 minutes to get actual food. The crepe was fairly good, but nothing to write home about. It's definitely not worth it when you account for the incompetent service.

Service OK; crepes were bland, but acceptable. The staff was observed exchanging unpleasantries, which is not a good sign. Especially when only two tables were occupied and no stress situation was in effect.

Not much to say about this place. The waitress, Marilyn Monroe was very nice. Salad was tasty but there was an odd ingredient in the dressing. Crepe was very good flavor but chef didn't know how to cook the crepe properly. Quiche was overcooked. Atmosphere was cafeteria-like with flimsy tables and uncomfortable chairs. Sorry Creperie, I won't be returning. My rec (though I didn't yelp them) is Beau Monde in Queen Village.

Delicious Crepes! I bought the LivingSocial deal in June and I needed to use it before it expire next week. I went last night (Tuesday) with one of my friends for a girls' date! It was perfect. Not busy at all and not a delay in service. We each got our own savory crepe. Very light yet filling at the same time. Then we shared "La Chouette", which is a sweet crepe with strawberries and chocolate. Super Yummy! It's a BYOB so we planned on bringing wine (forgot it at home...). But I would try to take advantage of that when I go back again.

Both the sweet and savory crepes here are DELICIOUS! So many choices and hard to pick which one is best. The teas they have are also wonderful. This is a quiet, quaint little place with the sweetest wait staff. I've been going here for years and would recommend to everyone wanting to have a casual meal in an unpretentious setting.

We went on a Monday using our Groupon and got the bum's rush because they are not open for dinner on a Monday. The waiter was insolent and when my daughter's order was incorrect said they kitchen was closed and he could not have it fixed. I reminded him that he had moments earlier told us we would be able to get dessert so he said he would get the order fixed. I'm sure they pawed through it and took out the offending peppers and then returned it. I would not buy a Groupon for here - and I would not recommend it. Don't go.

French crepes, french service. Took forever to get our food while the wait staff noisily bused and washed dishes next to our table. Not worth the 2 hours or the headache.

I love the crepes at this place! The batter is delicious and tasty, the fillings generous. That's why I was willing to brave the TERRIBLE service several times hoping it was a fluke. You could sitting at one of two occupied tables in the restaurant (and I know this because my friend and I were sitting at one of them) and you will be ignored, have to seat yourself, not be offered water until you ask, wait ten minutes for your water to arrive, have to ask for the menus because they've never been given to you, wait ten minutes for the menu, wait forever for your order, and then, once finished eating, wait AN ETERNITY for your check to be taken and processed. Put more simply, it's the worst service I've had in the city, so after ten visits, I unfortunately had to conclude the aggravation outweighs the delicious joy that is both their dessert and savory crepes.

can't believe i forgot to review this place. plus: it's close to where i live, making it easy to get a crepe. minus: the savory crepes were dripping with grease/butter/whatever they are using to cook it. the sweet crepe (strawberries and creme fraiche) was much better. um, could this place just do a switcharound with beau monde? thanks.

This is a charming French bistro at 17th and Sansom that specializes in, you guessed it, French crepes. I met a friend here for lunch, and I really enjoyed it. We both ordered a lunch crepe (so meat and veggies inside), but their dessert crepes sounded fantastic. I was just too full from my lunch crepe to order anything more, but the veggies and chicken and cheese inside my crepe were perfection wrapped in thin, pastry-like deliciousness. The waitress was also very friendly, the prices were reasonable, the decor is sunny and cute, and, all in all, I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet, leisurely, French meal. Next time, I'm going for dessert.

This place sucks. The service is horrible. If you are not too picky and don't mind getting ignored and having to ask for even the dumbest of things (and wait all the while) then go. The food is not bad but watch the mice droppings. I ate here earlier this month and wrote a conscientious letter to the owner. Not so much as "boo" in response. Ate here again last night (not my choice) and nothing has changed. It was 45 minutes before the guy even acknowledged us. Had to ask for water; did not clear our plates. No bread. Brought the stuff out haphazardly. Just bad - and the poor guy was the only one working when they knew we had a party of 9 coming. The "cute" girl must have bailed on him. Stay away. if the owner doesn't care about the place, why should we? Let the place close. And here is what the health inspection revealed: Inspection Date 2/27/07 7-01 (L) Mouse infestation is present. Mouse droppings observed on floors at bar counter, and on floors in kitchen. 9-04 (B) Wiping cloths are used in an unapproved manner. Wiping cloths are not stored in a sanitizing solution. 19-01.1 Food establishment personnel food safety certified individual is not present.

La Creperie Cafe was very cute with tasty food. We had a really sweet waitress who was attentive even though she was the only person working the dining room. The menu had a variety of salads, crepes, quiches, and paella so you can be sure everyone will find something to eat. Be sure to leave some room for dessert! The dessert crepes are definitely big enough to split between two people. Try the Napoleon. You'll thank me. Remember: This is a BYOB so don't get caught without a good bouteille de vin!

The food here was nothing spectacular but I really enjoyed the ambiance. I went there on a Saturday night and we were literally the only group of people there. I tried three different dessert crepes, and they were all good. I would go back for brunch, but I probably wouldn't bring anyone visiting from out of town here.

I went here two days ago thought it was very good fresh different. Especially when i looked at the menu and saw a pizza crepe i was intrigued. The food came out fast and fresh good flavors. I will be coming back it. The only thing I have to complain about was the service as soon as i seem to walk in the waiter's face looked like oh no i have more people to help and at the when i was ready to ask for the check he he brought out our with a word and puts it on the table and walks away. I will give it another chance maybe it was just me being overly critial but if it happens again im done.

The crepes were very good. But boy was the service bad! It took about an hour to bring our food, the plates and napkins at our table were dirty, and the waiter spilled coffee on our table and didn't clean it up.

I just came back from my first time here since Great Tea closed next door (about four years ago) and since I feel like I can't give any place a fair review without three fairly close together visits, I can only (in good conscience) give this place a four at most. The server was very pleasant and pleased to speak with a semi-native French-speaker. We shot the breeze a bit, which was nice, then my party and I ordered. Between us, we'd ordered crêpe á la rivage (with tuna, egg, tomato), gâteau de crêpe au jambon (ham, mushroom, spinach), crêpe de mergeuz et something else (haha, I don't quite recall what he got in it other than the lamb sausage, I'm afraid) and nutella et poire (pear and nutella). We shared amongst ourselves and we all rather enjoyed them. The tuna one was less my style, but I couldn't stop raving about the ham. It's perfectly balanced of sweet, savoury and delicious and the paper/wafer-thin pancake had that lovely nutty aroma one can only get from a well seasoned pan. Hints of butter made me happy. The lamb sausage one was cheese-filled. In fact, none of our orderes skimped on the fillings at all. One gripe from our group was the pear we chose for dessert; none of us save one had this issue, but he'd gotten, it seems, all the pear skins in his portion. Sorry, Dan, but the rest of us were enthralled! Even after several visits, I don't think I could give above four stars due to pricing. I understand; Rittenhouse, yes, expensive, nonetheless, it may be a bit much for a light meal. The server did, however, cut us a price break. I haven't a clue why, but he charged us about 10% less than we'd expected.

My bff and I had the most delicious lunch here over the weekend. We split 1 main course crepe and 1 dessert crepe. Neither of us could finish the dessert crepe because we were so full! The first bite of the dessert crepe gave me goosebumps--literally--because it was so tasty (nutella, almonds, roasted pear, whipped cream and ice cream). My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Next time I'll get my priorities straight and ask for the dessert crepe first! The atmosphere was cute--our waitress was French and the decor reminded me of a hole-in-the-wall creperie in Paris. I'm going back as soon as I get the chance!

Very good salad app (and huge, we split it), ok-entree, great iced tea, sloooooowoow service. The place is cute & has the potential to be the great place you think it will be when you walk in. However the only waitress paid extra attention to the only other party in the restaurant, a large party of maybe 7 or 8, instead of us (party of 2). She was very sweet when she did come by the table & refilled our tea many times but the food was so so freakin slow I probably could have gone home & made it myself & brought it back before we got our entrees. I know you cant blame the waitress for the kitchen staff but come on, speak up for your only patrons! The large party previously referred to was so rude/ loud & when we finally got our food, they decided it was time to sing along to the whole entire "put a ring on it" Beyonce song which was blasting from their cell... the waitress said nothing but hummed along, probably thinking she was getting a big tip & not caring one bit if i liked second hand beyonce with my french crepes. finally they got their bill & started complaining because apparently something was bad but they hadn't told the waitress until just then, which she tried to explain is the INCORRECT way to report a discrepancy and which only made things worse for us since we couldn't pay/leave until they figured out their issues. To make matters worse, I was pretty ill very soon after we left & i cant help but make the connection to other reviews here that i had bad food. (ps my husband's entree was good & he didnt get sick). I wont be going back. Really, so sad b/c this place has a great potential & the food on the menu all sounds so good, and it's a byob.

Delicious, creative savory crepes, as well as other menu selections such as the salads. They do take their time preparing the food, but not unreasonably so, and the wait is worth it. So don't go if you're in a tremendous hurry. Think France and food - there's nothing ever rushed about it. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable, but not too bad, again reminiscent of places I've been to in Paris. My only warning is to be careful about going on movie night (they show French movies once a week), since the restaurant can get very loud with boistrous patrons!

Heavenly crepes. My favorite place for lunch when I have a lot of time on my hands. It's a great place to read a book and have a leisurely lunch. Really recommend the traditional crepes -- the one with mushrooms and eggs is lovely.

We peeked in and were really hungry and thought crepes would be great right now. Once seated I should have trusted my instincts and left. Even my 8 year old complained about the dinginess of the place. It needs a complete rehab to capture the once cute rattan chairs now with stained cushions. The floor even with a severely good mopping would never be clean enough. Our server yes flaky no real complaints, it was slow and my daughter noticed her chatting with the other server and then talking to the customers a different voice. It was kind of funny, she should have her own Yelp page. I felt like we were in the Twilight Zone, talking about our weird server while two girls in the next table chatted so loudly making it impossible not to ease drop. On to the food..The Iced Tea was painfully sweet, she said it was sweet but even diluted with water was just over bearing. AND $3.50 . The Caesar salad was just okay. The crepe was actually very good. But if I really want crepes again I will go to Beau Monde. I had my wallet out before my daughter was finished just to get out of there quicker. We decided to pass up a desert crepe and head over to Ben and Jerry's for a cone. see next review!

Oh, wow, I am so sad right now. I was so hungry and crepes sounded so good. I love Beau Monde, and really never met a crepe I didnt like, until tonight. Seriously, just ew. Super salty and just feh all around. I'm sure the sweet crepes are better - because I can't imagine screwing that up. But stay away from the savory ones.

  • Caitlin C.

First off, if you are looking for a great crepe place and have extra $$, go to Beau Monde. If it's not a special occasion and you are just in the neighborhood, this place is definitely worth it. It is a small place and noting too exciting about the decor. But the staff has an accent, which makes me want to eat more crepes. The actual crepes are great, and their menu is huge. If you don't know what to order try one of their specials. You can't go wrong here. And whenever you are in a place that makes crepes, never leave without adding Nutella to something.

Wow! I absolutely love La Creperie. They use fresh ingredients and great skill to make the perfect crepes that will make you go "Wow!". I never had a crepe other than sweet crepes until I visited this restaurant and it was love at first taste. Give your tongue some pleasure and bring some friends and good wine and you have a recipe for perfect evening. She also just opened one in Phoenixville.

Came here with my mom for dinner and a Restaurant.com certificate, and absolutely LOVED the food here. The place is absolutely adorable--actually looks like a little cafe in Paris. And the menu is quite extensive - there are crepes for just about anyone. And if you still can't find anything, they'll let you substitute or create your own crepe. For dinner, my mom and I split La Panopolie with brie (Turkey, Brie, Apple, Roasted Almonds, Olive Oil & Basil) and Bon Appétit! Merguez (Sausage, Brie, Feta Cheese, Onions, Green Peppers, Tomatoes, Garlic, Olive Oil & Herbe de Provence). Both were unbelievable. They were just as good as the crepes in Paris--crispy, with flavors that blended together perfectly. For dessert, we split La Finale Flambe (Banana in Rum, Strawberries & Coulis de Chocolat) and Oh La La (Pears, Nutellla, Grand Marnier and Whipped Cream). They were delicious, but not too sweet. The ONLY downside to the food was that we were both hungry a few hours after dinner. But I definitely will try to come back here again next time I'm in Philly!!

Creperie Cafe is a wonderful little restaurant to lose yourself in a deliciuos cup of coffee and a newspaper. The staff is friendly (although a little flaky), the restaurant cozy, and the crepes, both sweet and savory, are just perfect. When i just want to relax and get away from a lot of the morning mayhem of the brunch scene, this is always a great option.

This is one of my favorite casual places in Philly. The crepes are seriously GOOD and the waiters are hot. The interior is very simple and the prices are reasonable. The emphasis is clearly on the food, which I like.

Went to lunch there on advice from a friend, will rethink that friendship... The place did not smell good. Service was sorta OK, although it was slow, and she didn't re-fill water glasses, could not flag her down either. The place only had 2 other diners at the time, so no excuse. We ordered an appetizer to split, fried plantains in light tomato sauce, what arrived was fried plantains and a small container of packaged salsa, yuck...not at all what I had imagined. My friend's food arrived before mine...that may have been a good thing, we split both entrees, neither was very good.

La Creperie is a cute & casual restaurant for lunch or dinner. They have a nice variety of quiches, crepes (savoury and sweet), and a bunch of other dishes (including Paella...a bit odd for a French place, I know). Like many other Philly spots, this is a BYOB joint. The food is also quite pleasant--my spinach quiche with a side of greens was nicely prepared, but the quiche itself was a bit cold. I give La Creperie a 4 stars for value...nothing is amazing, but it's a decent resto for a decent price.

From first walking in through the door to leaving, La Creperie Cafe was unpleasant. The air conditioner was not functioning and it was so humid inside.. luckily we were seated closer to the door. The tables were filthy and old. There were old crumbs, food scraps and dust stuck in the crevices of the table where we were seated. We had to wipe our utensils again because they were not clean at all. We went with our Groupon and I suppose most of their customers come with Groupon deals, because that was the first thing they asked us when we were seated. We ordered quiche and two crepes with two iced teas ($3.50 each!!). I was able to notice right away that the quiche was old and just reheated. The crepes were mediocre and felt it was overpriced for the amount that I got. I would suggest The Creperie truck on the Temple University campus on 13th and Norris Street for much better crepes and more reasonable prices. Overall, the food was overpriced and the service was not good at all. I would never step foot into this place again.

service was slow, and some of the other tables seemed to have to wait forever just for drinks. the food was good, but i expected a lot more. the crepes could have been much fuller, and only the center really hadnt anything in it. the edges were just crispy and dry. they did still taste very good, but could have been better with more in them. i definitely left still hungry. the homemade iced tea was also very good, but $3.50 for a little glass? a little outrageous.

If you've been to Brittany you'll know that what the French eat for a main course is a Galette, made with "black" flour. Here all the crepes are the desert type of white flour, but with many different possible fillings - my favorites are the "Chef" and the "Royale". I suspect that the major business is at lunch, but we eat there about onece a month Saturday night. Sometimes it's full and the staff can be overwhelmed and slow, but most of the time it's throughly relaxed, with everthing from Piaf to contemporary French rap in the background.

A hidden gem. Excellent Crepes (the lamb and the shrimp crepes are my favorites) and quiches. And don't forget the ginger juice! The service is very friendly too. Easy to get tables too - I am always surprised that more people haven't discovered this place yet. I and my wife go there a couple of times a month.

Loved it !!! Food was fresh, portion size perfect and crepes DELISH!!!!! The tables were not the best but I think it all helped create the Parisian ambience ! Service was great the staff spoke french which also was impressive ! I will definitely go back and try other dishes on their menu

I came across this place with a friend while looking for a quick place to eat around Rittenhouse last weekend. After having a phenomenal crepe in New Orleans a few weeks ago, I was super excited to have another one as I had been craving them! We were seated instantly.. the place was pretty dead. The service was great and extremely attentive. The issue is the food and pricing. I wanted a savory crepe and decided to go with the "La Norvegienne" which was smoked salmon, brie, zucchini, and basil. Sounded amazing and I was really looking forward to it. My friend ordered one of the chicken savory crepes. Our food came out quickly. The first thing I noticed was that my crepe was about half the size of my friends! I instantly was disappointed. Not only was my crepe pretty small, but it wasn't even very good. The smoked salmon was not what I am used to and it was more of a fishy and unseasoned flavor.. not the salty, smooth taste that I was expecting. The rest of the crepe was just not that great and fell flat. I finished it in about 5 minutes because of the sheer lack of food! My friend wasn't very impresed with hers either, though at least hers was more filling. For my crepe, water, tax, and tip, I paid 18 bucks.. and I was starving when I left. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere!

Really good food, great service, but very expensive. This might be a great place to go for dessert. We were in at the middle of lunch hour and were the only table in the place - very odd because the food and service were both very good. Maybe price is their issue.

Brunch at a French Creperie place? Oh La la, sounds good right? Wrong. Pros: -The service here was AMAZING. The waiters were super polite, refilling our drinks, patiently waiting for the rest of our table guests to arrive, they took our requests respectfully, it was just perfect service. -The place is large enough to seat many people. Cons: -What the hell is going with the prices?! Yes, I asked for an omelet to be put inside the crepe, I didn't expect to be charged an extra $5 for that. Yes, I ordered from orange juice, but I did not expect to be charge $6 for that! -The crepes were average tasting but seriously, we could have gotten the same crepes for a better price.

Yummie crepes! We had ordered 3 and everyone was delighted. The gluten free one was exceptional even though I had to ask them to omit some key ingredients in a crepe like cheese due to food allergies. Totally delicious and kind staff members. If we weren't leaving early the next morning we would have went again for breakfast!!Definitely recommend! :)

Great place. BYOB. Gluten free crepes are available. Great service. Start with a savory crepe as a main meal and share a sweet one for dessert. Yes, chairs are a little weird, but very nice ambiance. I've taken my niece visiting from Alabama and various friends there and they all really enjoyed it.

I put La Creperie at a 2.5 stars...but "meh, I've experienced better" seemed closer to my experience than "A-OK". Service was very nice and polite--no complaints there. Food was tasty--my husband and I split two crepes: (1) ham, cheese, mushroom, spinach, and we added egg to it (because we both love eggs!), and (2) the salmon with creme fraiche. Both were delicious--the crepe portion just sweet enough, the fillings savory... But I left this place with a pretty bad taste in my mouth--because of pricing. Some of it was less incriminating (yes, your menu *does* say a small cup of black coffee is $3.50...though I have no idea how you can justify that price; yes, you have fresh-squeezed orange juice...for $6, which could buy me a whole gallon of the stuff, or a crate of oranges). The more annoying charges: we added egg to our crepe, and that's apparently an extra $1.50 (...which could get me a full dozen eggs). Oh, you want this crepe, but you want to add a wee bit of ham to it? extra $4. Oh, you want the same ingredients as the omlette, except wrapped in a crepe? extra $5. Look...I don't mind that charging extra to add stuff...but don't you think that adding 50% to the price of the original dish for just a "wrapper" is excessive? The crepes were good (not life-changing, but solid), but given that they're already pricey, and given how many ridiculous surcharges there were tacked on to our final check, I doubt we'll be back too soon. It hurts me, because I really do think the folks there were super sweet...it's just hard to justify paying $$$ for solid, but not mind-blowing crepes.

The food was great, and the staff was some of the best I have ever encountered. In fact, the staff was the best thing about this place. They were absolutely the friendliest and most accommodating I have ever seen! I don't think the food was expensive--certainly not more than other cafes of this kind. I must confess I feel bad that this cafe is not more successful. I think they are overshadowed by bigger restaurants around them. Such a shame, really, because this cafe is such a little gem. I will definitely be going back! The only thing preventing me from giving this cafe 5 stars is their furniture. They need to get some better tables and chairs. I also wish they open earlier during the week.

One of my favorite places to go in the city. I don't really understand why it's getting such bad reviews. Every Time I've gone has been great, and I bring new people each time I go. The service fantastic, crepes are perfect. Even the pricing was decent in my opinion, and that's coming from a college student. Although I don't have a favorite, I always have ordered from the sweet crepes part of the menu.

Walked in randomly the other day during my lunch break from work. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices, service, taste (very light and airy batter was great) and the fact that the woman who runs the place speaks french :) there was literally no one there and im not sure why. but ill be back for sure

My experience here was great. Unfortunately, I had to take my crêpe to go (maybe that's fortunate, since so many people complain about the chairs). I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday around 12:30 pm. Like others have noted, the place was empty except for one other patron who left before I did. I hung at the bar while I waited for my Gâteau de Crêpe au Jambon, a fairly standard crêpe filled with thinly sliced ham, swiss cheese, fresh mushrooms, and spinach (I requested no garlic). The two people I encountered working there were quite pleasant and friendly and smiled at my weak attempt at French, but not in a condescending way. My food was ready in 5-8 minutes and they even packed plasticware in my bag. After my fifteen minute walk to my hotel, my crêpe had lost a little of it's crunchiness, but it was fried in enough oil that it retained a bit. It was still warm, so the cheese was gooey. I was pleased at the size of the crêpe and even more pleased with how much was inside it--perfect for a lunch meal. Especially pleasing was the amount of spinach. I find that at a lot of restaurants, they treat spinach like parsley and only put a sprinkle in whatever they serve you. This place put the perfect amount. I was glad I requested no garlic--I wouldn't have been surprised if they put entire garlic cloves in it and that would not suit my tastes at all. Yes, the crêpes are on the expensive side, but it was a full meal and in the middle of the city, it's to be expected. Also, they might use a bit too much oil for frying, but oh well. It was tasty. I'm here for a few more days and am tempted to try one of their dessert crêpes. We'll see if I have time.

I struggle with how to rate the food. The savory crepes I ordered were overcooked (crispy, black). Based on these alone, I would rate them as poor. However, the sweet banana flambe crepe I ordered was to die for. So, I settle on "good." The service was exactly what I would expect from a French cafe, rude. But there should be more consistency in the food.

  • Melissa P.

The crepes are decent, but not good enough to make up for the surly staff, slow service, rickety furniture, and dirty glasses. I'm not sure if takeout is an option at La Creperie Cafe, but that would be my choice if I had an uncontrollable hankering for a crepe while in the neighborhood. One star for fresh-squeezed orange juice plus one star for (begrudgingly) allowing substitutions.

  • Micaela M.

The friendliness of the staff was exemplary, so I'm sorry for the low review. The crepes were delicious, but I really have had better and for a fraction of the cost. Though the quality was high, I did not expect to pay almost $30 for a crepe and a cup of coffee. To clarify, I did ask to make one of the omelette options into a crepe. I was so thankful for the flexibility of the restaurant to accommodate this request and they did warn me that there would be an additional charge, but I really wish that they had told me upfront that it would be $5 extra. I think that is a bit too much, considering it is more than a third of the cost of the omelette. I came with a group of nine and we had a good time, but others in my group experienced the "surcharge surprise" at the end as well. Perhaps we should have asked upfront for more detailed costs, but I think the add-ons were overpriced regardless. I want to repeat that the staff was perfectly attentive and kind to us and there were no mishaps with serving our large group. This is just a case of the food not quite matching the price we paid. For the bill total at the end, you would have thought we had a fancy brunch of "best ever" crepes, but they were just OK in a mediocre setting.

walked by here and decided to go in to eat bc supposedly best crepes in town. I got a savory crepe with ham, mushrooms, Swiss, and some creamy sauce inside. it was very crispy, which is what I look for when deciding whether a crepe is good (I've had plenty of crepes in the past that were not crispy). we also got one called "el gitano" which had bacon, tomato, mozz, and basil inside. overall the food itself was good, but the ambience was a little lacking bc of the emptiness. woulda tasted better psychologically if it was a bustling restaurant, esp since we were there for brunch. servers were very French and polite.

What a curious find! Nestled in Philadelphia is a creperie with French speaking servers ... quite a treat in the City of Brotherly Love. Interestingly, the food has a Caribbean flair to it, which made trying new things all the more enjoyable. We both went with the server's recommendation and tried the daily specials (something to do with seafood), and they were scrumptious. We both scarfed our food down and looked around wildly for more. The fresh water in the glass bottles was a wonderful touch. Service was top-notch, and we'll happily be back on our next trip through the area.

I've been here 5 times now and I can't really understand the negative reviews. While true that I've never seen it very busy, all the servers have been very polite and I've been extremely happy with the food every time. I've tried a few of the savory crepes and 2 of the desert ones and have yet to be disappointed. I'm planning on going back for lunch next time I'm in town.

Just getting around to writing this review. We went on Valentines day. It was real nice with the French atmosphere. I liked the savory crepes better than the sweet. We had the Gyro Crepe and the Asiago Crepe, both were delicious. We didn't try the Nanza but we will go back for that, they are flatbreads on iIndain Nan bread they sound great. Wee ended on the Crepe suzette. The service was excellent. We will go back.

Nifty little creperie (why is Yelp flagging this word as misspelled? Come on, this is a food review site and "creperie" (they did it again) is certainly part of the lexicon) that served up a delicious steak filled crepe with green peppers and onions as well as lobster. The crepe shell has a different texture and perhaps composition than most; thin and crispy, it was a nice diversion from standard creperie (stop it!) fare.

Man, some people on here really have an issue with this place. For the life of me I do not know why. 1) Place is empty - Yeah, both times I went it wasn't jammed. Attribute this to the location. I consider a place that serves great food and good prices to be a positive, not a negative. 2) Staff - Every time I have gone here I have been service by the owner (I think). Either way he is the nicest guy ever and had great suggestions. I've ordered an African crepe both times for the main course and I am in love with them. 3) Decor - It is pretty simple. I go to Del Frisco's or Barclay Prime and expect nice furnishings. When I am paying $6-10 bucks for a crepe I am happy sitting on an orange crate. The furniture is nice and clean so no issues. I've been to Creperie Beau Monde & L'Etage a couple times and both are really good. I think comparing that place to this is both unfair and incorrect. BM is more expensive and you basically pay for a full restaurant experience. This place is just as good and you get normal chairs and tables and you don't have high end service. This is a great place and the food is good. The tab is cheap and the service is friendly. I've gone by myself and taken people there and everyone was nothing but happy with their choices. I can see someone giving this a 3 star review since a person liking or disliking a place is subjective, but any rating below 3 starts is either a fluke or someone who doesn't know what they are talking about.

I've always passed this little place and wanted to try. It did not disappoint -- large light crispy-edged Crepes were excellent. Service was also perfect. Crepes for breakfast after our Christmas party were perfect. Wife had strawberries and creme fraiche and I had onion, lamb sausage and cheese (Swiss I think). My wife's cappuccino was good but my coffee was a little weak. Would love to have had a nice French press, but didn't see that option.

La Creperie Cafe is one of my family's favorite spots in Philly. The service is excellent, warm and inviting atmosphere. And the crepes are delicious. They have a lot of flavors and combinations to choose from. And it's all served with a smile.

This place ultimately disappointed me, though there are certainly worse places to eat on Sansom Street. It took nearly 40 minutes for us to receive our food, despite the fact that the place was empty on a Saturday night. This may have been due to the fact that, apparently, they have one employee. Poor, poor man. I have to say, my crepe was pretty tasty. I got one with mushrooms and creme fraiche and it was lightly crisp around the edges, tender in the middle, perfectly salted. However, I simply can't stomach the idea of paying $13 for a paper-thin pancake with some stuff smeared on it. Unless that thing is gold-encrusted or has the secret to life inscribed upon it, that is a ridiculous price for a dinner that didn't come close to filling my stomach.

I lived in Paris for 6 months, and ate a few more crepes than I should have... In any case, Creperie Cafe doesn't really cut it. The crepes are a bit overpriced ($12 for a standard ham egg gruyere?), and they were small and greasy (weird). I would need two to fill up (granted I eat a lot) - but $24 for a couple crepes? No thank you. Servers were nice, but seemed like the kitchen took way too long for a simple crepe at a completely empty place. Wanted to love you CC, but you just weren't very good.

    (3)
  • Cindy S.

I appreciate that they offer gluten free crepes, but in general I was disappointed with the prices. Dear GOD, some of the crepes are $14, $15, even $16!!! I would never spend that kind of money on one crepe, that's highway robbery! Also a cup of soup was $9.

I went for an early dinner/late lunch before a shift at work. I walked in and it was completely empty. Red flag maybe? I shrugged it off and was sat by the waiter. He was a nice gentleman. He pulled my chair out for me and poured a glass of water from a swing top bottle. It was a nice touch, the water had lemon slices and mint sprigs but when I took a sip, it wasn't cold. I asked what his favorite crepes were and he directed me to one classic style and one that he described as oriental with sweet and sour sauce and couscous. Yeah, I went with the classic, which had ham, mushrooms, spinach, and Swiss cheese. Once it was served, I could smell garlic, but after the first few bites, I couldn't taste anything. No garlic, no seasoning, just a few bland bites of crepe and sliced deli ham. I finished the crepe which was pretty underwhelming but I had work later that evening and wanted something to fill my stomach. I couldn't find any pieces of garlic but the smell was overpowering. There wasn't any distinct flavor so I added a little bit of salt and ground pepper. Yeah, that didn't help either. I don't think I'll be coming back again. The server was nice but not very attentive. Then again I was the only person in there in the 20 minutes I spent ordering, eating, and paying about $16 for a lackluster bite. Spare yourself the cutesy wicker decor and make some crepes at home.

Great food, great service-- strange ambiance. Go if you want tasty food, but I recommend you bring some entertaining company. The place is ok in the mood category and very few people were inside. Otherwise, a good little spot for great crepes!

I was at la creperie last night and i really do not understand what people are talking about but, it was busy till the last table! My crepe tomatoes and feta was delicious. Dessert was pear pie love it. This is my third time going there and i really like it. Was a bit septic with certain review at first but, this place is the real deal. Was seating next to a table of 10 who got free bottle of wine!! They applaud when the server give it to them. Will go again in few weeks this for lunch and will keep you posted. Love the place.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to review La Creperie Cafe. This place is of best lunch spots downtown. The egg crepe with mushrooms (add feta for extra fun), is by far the best crepe I've had anywhere. It is always cooked perfectly! The sweet crepes are delicious as well... nutella and banana, anyone? The cafe itself is rustic and although other reviewers complain about the rattan chairs, it's not a deal breaker (unless you are 300 pounds, I can't understand why anyone would think they're THAT uncomfortable to mention in a review). Be sure to order the homemade ginger ale, if you're into that kind of thing. It's fantastic!

I went here with my girlfriend and the place was awesome. The waitress was nice and very attentive. We loved the house ginger juice! The sweet crepe was also great and so was the salmon quiche. The decor, including the bamboo furniture was cute.

La Creperie has one of the best crepes in the city, they also have delicious coffee and orange juices. However it is pretty expensive. I think the orange juice was 5 dollars and the latte was 5 was well. The other posters are correct about atmosphere both time i went it was a weekend and there was only one other party there, so it is kind of dead. They serve their water in a fancy bottle with lemon and mint in it and I appreciate that they leave this at the table. Overall very good, a little expensive and lacking in atmosphere

I'm glad I didn't look this place up on yelp before walking in. I would have missed a great experience. This place is amazing. My friend and I walked in close to closing time and we were weary of staying because we didn't want to inconvenience the owner. However she insisted that we stay and gave us fantastic recommendations. We had the Bon appetit and l'orientale followed by 2 dessert crepes. The owner even invited us to the anniversary party, celebrating their 15th year. There's a reason this place has been here for that long. Try it, it'll take you back to France.

We love La Creperie! Great selection of sweet and savory crepes, and the owners are super nice. Always a hit with parents and out of town guests. Sometimes the portions are a little small for the price (thinking of the quiche specifically), but it's worth it. Fresh squeezed jus d'orange is amazing and we've loved our coffee drinks too. Others may disagree, but I found my crepe experience here much better than my trip to Paris!

My boyfriend and I just went to this place for the first time. It was rather empty, but we have no idea why because it was the best place EVER!! We have been to many other crepe places, including Beau Monde and found this to be just as good, if not better in some ways. It is different than Beau Monde, and was a nice change for us. These are more traditional crepes (flat, circular). It is not a pretentious place--it is relaxed and not fancy at all, but we really liked the atmosphere. One big thing is that they feature GLUTEN-FREE crepes!!!! As a gluten-free person for over 5 years, I have never had better gluten free crepes. I have never had any gluten-free crepes in the city at all. These were insanely delicious. I had nutella and banana. It was cooked to perfection, crispy in all the right places, ooey-gooey in others, lightly browned, with dusted powdered sugar. The other crepe we ate was savory--egg, mushroom, and herbs. This was simple and done perfectly. We devoured both. The guy who waited on us was extremely kind, hospitable, and gracious. He was knowledgeable about the gluten-free crepes. The whole check was pretty inexpensive considering how pricey fancy crepes can be. We spent $18 ish on two wonderful crepes with great fillings. We would have happily paid more. There were more expensive options but we left totally satisfied with our choices. Bottom line, we have no idea why some other reviewers have maligned this place. We'll be going back ASAP. Yummmmm....

I can really only speak to the gluten-free crepes, but as far as those go, this place is pretty great. Some places make some pretty terrible gluten-free crepes. These--both sweet and savory--were quite tasty. The staff were incredibly friendly. The service was a tad slow, but when we came in our waiter warned us that they were slammed with a big party that had just come in. He apologized several times later even though the service wasn't all that slow.

Holy yuck!!! I am so mad I just paid for that when the whole time I was force feeding myself I was praying I wasn't going to get food posioning. Thanks for the 15 dollar pile of burned rubbery eggs with skeptical "salmon" in it. My boyfriends "crepe" was also a just as much and came out looking like a pile of shit that they tried to cover up with an orange. Water was hot and they were just refilling the bottle with fruit in it just to make it look fancy. Bathroom was disgusting. Decor was dirty and scary. We should of gone with our instinct and left. BOOOOOO giving crepes a bad name!
