Pumpkin Pie Spice froyo swirled with Cinnamon Graham Cracker froyo.... Oh. My. Goodness. So good!! Lots of interesting and fun flavors to pick from in addition to the classics. With indoor and outdoor seating, this was a great place to stop for a quick treat. The toppings dispensers kept everything neat and clean, the prices were good, and the service was friendly. Love it!

Just essential/basic. Can't live without such a near froyo place.

Here's what made me addicted to this place. Their froyo is good but nothing fantastic. You can pick a few variety of low fat froyo and sorbet flavors but nothing too fancy. The thing that make that little cup heavenly is the combination of a rich variety of TOPPINGS and frozen yogurt. Mix a full bowl of Mochi bits( a sweet chewy rice dessert), Reese bit, a ton of berries and crushed waffles with your favorite froyo and you will not regret it. You gotta fully mix them!! The texture of every bite is just amazing. Crunchieness of the waffle, chewiness of the Mochi, juicy fruits, and the smoothness of the yogurt. One just can put down the spoon for such healthy and delicious dessert! It will beat any regular ice cream or gelato every single time.

Having tried a few other Philadelphia frozen yogurt establishments, such as Yogorino and Igloo, Kiwi's frozen yogurt quality is considerably less authentic and healthy. Most of the fruit and cream based flavors that I've tried are on the very sugary side, while the original tart flavor is not as rich and not made with real Greek yogurt. For the price you are paying, there are better options. That said, the pink storefront and upbeat pop music they play here makes it a fun campus hangout spot for students looking for a quick study break or after dinner treat.

I was greeted immediately upon entering. The place is clean, aircon is strong, and toppings are plentiful. Metered street parking is available.

I come to Kiwi often because it's the closest froyo place on campus. When I need my ice cream fix, I know I can count on Kiwi. The place is always clean and never too crowded, and they have a large array of flavors at any given point (around 10 or so). They offer both fruity (i.e. pomegranate or lemon) and sweet (i.e. cookies and creme, peanut butter, birthday cake) flavors, and pair the machines so the swirl options compliment each other, such as chocolate and mint chip. I usually opt for the plain/original with a dollop of 1 other flavor just for kicks. The froyo is a little softer than I prefer, but no serious complaints. They also have a good assortment of toppings. I like to fill my cup with a generous amount of fruit, mochi (if you haven't tried these before you absolutely should), and gummy bears, and end up spending anywhere from $4-6 dollars.

Every time I'm there it is clean and the staff is friendly. Toppings are always fresh and they have a good mix. Lots of fresh strawberries, blueberries and kiwis plus more decedent toppings as well. They change up the yogurt flavors quite often and I love the separators they have so I can make two different creations in one cup. Always a delicious and satisfying treat! Prices aren't too bad. I usually end paying under $5 for about 9oz.

I have never been to a bad kiwi in my life. This one just so happens to be near my office so I frequent it the most. They are the first kiwi to always have birthday cake flavor yogurt (at least that I've found so far) and that is the best flavor. They have a wide array of toppings, but a little too many of those weird gummy things and fruit. Let's be honest, if I'm there for yogurt I want some crappy delicious toppings! You can get a card that allows you to get a free $4 froyo after you buy 10 at any price. It's really hard to get froyo that is less than $5 because there are so many awesome things you can add! It is sometimes really crowded with Penn/Drexel students but that's my only complaint!

Clean and spacious . A nice arrangement of flavors to choose from but i always go for the more fruity flavors. The last time I went they had a raspberry pomegranate flavor, i was so excited and it was really good. Fruits always seems fresh but some seems like frozen fruits, such as the blueberry. Hope they only serve fresh ones in the future. Cashier is always nice , good service.

This frozen yogurt place is popular with the college kids in the area. Their flavors change regularly with the seasons. I am pleased by their flavor selection but I have had better. The toppings are fresh and changed regularly. The price is on the lower side for a build your own frozen yogurt place.

Kiwi is a fine place for a sweet treat on Penn's campus. There really are not that many options for froyo aside from sweet green. I like that Kiwi has a variety of flavors. Sweet green only has tart and now chocolate (which I did not prefer). I really like the new summer watermelon flavor Kiwi has. I think the texture of the froyo could be a bit creamier. It doesn't quite have the smoothness that yogorino has. It's not really rich in the yogurt flavor and I have no idea if I'm consuming any healthy probiotic stuff. They do have good toppings though. The staff is always friendly, which is always nice! (No pun intended. =P).

It's finally nice out so a few of my coworkers decided to stop by for some froyo. I wasn't going to get anything but I saw they had a new flavor: Sweet coconut. I just had to try it. I asked for a sample and wasn't expecting the girl to come from behind the counter and get the sample for me. But it's definitely a good way to control the samples. I'm glad she even put gloves on! The sweet coconut is a great flavor. It was pretty light tasting and wasn't overly sweet. Perfectly refreshing with some mochi on a warm day. They even posted the calories on a sign, which is great but would be even better with full nutritional value disclosure. Either way, I'd definitely stop by again for this flavor. I'm getting hooked on this self-serve tart yogurt craze. Kiwi is the third tart frozen yogurt shop I've tried and my only complaint is that the location is dangerously close to my office building in University City. It's way too easy to run out for a few minutes, fill a rather large paper container full of chocolate hazelnut and plain tart frozen yogurt, sprinkle on some coconut and mochi topping, and be on my way back to my cubicle. If you haven't tried the mochi topping, give it a shot. It's a pretty fun chewy consistency and it doesn't get all frozen and hard. There's a long list of toppings from the healthy fruit toppings like strawberries and raspberries to the less healthy Butterfinger dust and Oreo pieces. The Kiwi website claims that they have live probiotics in all of their yogurts. Probiotics are pretty important to have every day especially in our Western diet, so I'm hoping this is true. Even if the probiotics aren't that great, the calorie count is low. I've never regretted a trip to Kiwi at the end of my lunch hour. Be sure to ask for a couple of sample cups. That way you won't end up filling your actual cup with a mystery flavor like banana bread. If you want to try something other than the plain tart yogurt, I highly recommend the chocolate hazelnut. It's similar to Nutella but contains far fewer calories.

I love ice cream and being able to choose my own toppings! Kiwi is good fro-yo, with decent, but not great, selection of toppings. The place is a frequent haunt for the local annoying sorority Penn girls, which accompanied with the music being too loud resulting in an all too college-y feel. If I am in the area, I would go, but would choose other fro-yo places if I had a choice.

I honestly only like the birthday cake flavor of frozen yogurt, so I don't really look at what other options they have, but at least that one is a staple there. Kiwi changes their flavors every so often, and at the moment they have an apple pie flavor which I tried and really liked. You can get a variety of toppings from granola and cookie bits to brownies, fruit and pie. Whenever there's any sort of deal here, it will be swarming with Penn students, and sometimes it's a bit too overwhelming to even bother. I wish that when that happens that they would have more people working. Last time there was only one cashier and I felt so bad for the woman. I've heard Yogorino is amazing, so I need to try that as well, but for now, Kiwi is fine.

If I'm in the area, getting Kiwi is going to cross my mind. I've met up with my wife after work there for two Fridays in a row and I've been pleased both times. Kiwi and Whirled Peace and Manayunk are the only thing fighting back the Vegan in my diet at the moment. Self serve with plenty of good toppings. They have little pieces of brownie and cheesecake that I like. Birthday Cake and Red Velvet flavors are fantastic. And they take one of the best pages out of the Pinkberry book: they have a pitcher with water and strawberries. Worth a quick and easy trip if you're in the area.

Really decent frozen yogurt! It has a great campus location and since it closes at 11pm, is perfect for a summer nighttime snack when a project is going to be keeping me at school until the sun rises the next morning. The flavors change with the season, and if you sign up for the email list you'll be notified every time they switch around their flavors (as well as when they're having any coupons or specials). I'm not a fan of tart flavors but aside from those, all of their yogurts are usually quite good! The textures do vary from flavor to flavor, so ask for a sample if you're not sure -- I usually forgo the samples and just get a bit of everything. What's the difference when I know I'll probably enjoy them all, right? I haven't gone there since they've added the seasonal summer flavor options -- I'm hoping the Watermelon's as good as I remember it to be from last year! The Watermelon was surprisingly icy, mild and refreshing. The texture was more of a creamy sorbet rather than frozen yogurt, and tasted more like real watermelon than that fake candy watermelon flavor. I'll have to go and check it out! There's a decent selection of toppings, and something for everyone. I'll usually add a bit of fruit and then maybe a caramel cup or two. They also have mochi bits, cheesecake and brownie, as well as various crushed snack toppings and cereal. Make sure to take advantage of their punchcard if you're going to be a regular!

Just joined yelp and having so much fun. I'm trashin all of the places that were ever crappy to me and I don't feel one pang of regret. So last summer a few friends and I walked to kiwi with our tiny (like 10 inches tall) dog. We saw that there were no dogs allowed inside so I waited outside with the dog while the others got their yogurt. In that very moment, a huge clap of thunder sounded and it started to poor. Meanwhile, my friend asked if we could please stand just inside the door until the rain stopped. The girl at the serving area said no. So we stood outside in the pouring rain while our ice cream turned into soup and the dog shivered. Ok look i'm allergic to dogs and I'm able to fucking suck it up so i'm pretty sure having a dog inside for like 5 minutes isn't going to send anyone to the hospital. But don't get me wrong, I love the rain and I love thunderstorms, I just dislike people who have no sympathy for others. That was my first reason why this is a one. My second reason is the fact that they give you like a freakin gallon sized cup to get your food in. When I was in France, it was one scoop on a small cone and it was so much more enjoyable. It is just so easy here to fill it up more because there is so much space. In order to live sustainably, we must not overuse our resources (paper cup, plastic, etc.). And finally it is ridiculously expensive lol that's why I only go if its like a social thing. No way am I spending a lot there. Other than that though, ice cream is delish or whatever it is yogurt same thing

I visited Kiwi during my two-day trip to Pennsylvania for a sorority conference. Coming from the DMV area, I am extremely familiar with frozen yogurt joints--from Yogiberry to CaliYogurt to Pinkberry--and have become pretty picky with this dessert. Kiwi's frozen yogurt melted just a little too quickly for me. I had barely gotten through half of it, when it had already become a soup. Also, the flavor of the original tart yogurt is not as rich as it could be... nothing memorable. Its assets lie in the multitude of flavors--everything from the original tart to birthday cake to espresso to pomegranate...even fruit sorbet! However, the execution of each flavor could use some work. I also really appreciated the cute dispensers for the cereal toppings, as well as the unique toppings available. Some of the ones I remember are cheesecake or pumpkin pie chunks, as well as tons of sprinkle-covered chocolate chips. Priced at 49 cents an ounce, it's a little pricier than what I'm used to. Nonetheless, it was a nice pre-dinner treat and a cool environment in which to catch up with old friends. I just prefer the options I have back home.

I feel like my review may be a little biased. I wish I would have went to Kiwi first before going to other froyo establishments. Compared to Tutti Frutti in Philly and Frozen Yo in D.C., Kiwi is okay, but not great, which is why I could only give it two stars. I decided to try Kiwi this past weekend after reading all of the reviews and seeing the amount of flavors and toppings offered. When I got there, I felt bamboozled. There were not nearly as much flavors as expected. To top it off, I was really looking forward to getting the Birthday Cake and Red Velvet flavors. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate Birthday Cake a 5. Red Velvet taste like a frozen yogurt version of Pepto Bismol. Why would I eat a flavor that would give me upset stomach, indigestion, etc.? The more tart flavors like mango weren't bad, but they're not my preference when I want frozen yogurt. The one thing that I can definitely say about Kiwi is that they do have a great variety of toppings, which is necessary to cover up the bland taste of their yogurt.

How can a frozen yogurt shop get one star? Let me tell you, Check out their website, looks like they have many different flavors. We get there and they have 8 flavors so thay alone is dissapointing. No one to help with samples so we load up with very safe flavors Vanilla for my 9 yo and chocolate and coconut for me. We load up on topping and $14 later we walk to our hotel to enjoy our bounty. Now if a 9 year old doesnt want to finish it and says it tastes funny and I say the same thing with two different flavors then we both cant be wrong. I offered each night to go back and try another flavor but my daugther didnt want too. (WTF, a 9 year old doesnt want frozen yogurt) Now we have a 16 Handles here in Brooklyn which is what we based our experience on. They have 16 flavors and you can sample all you want no after taste so we have had our share of frozen yogurt so we knew what to expect, but this place was not worth the price we paid.

I make a frequent excursions with one of my friends to catch up over frozen desserts. Ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt, water ice, you name it. It's our version of mimosas at brunch or cosmos during happy hour. We made it to Kiwi (the business formerly known as Sprinkles) and after sampling the goods (their new red velvet cake flavor wasn't everything I was hoping it would be), my friend opted for a chocoholic's delight, while I split my yogurt and toppings between original tart/sprinkles and gummi bears, and birthday cake/butterfinger. The cups were enormous, which allowed for my invisible line of demarcation right down the middle. I filled it up to my heart's content and only paid $3.50 so I'm not sure where the price complaints are coming from. Overall, the flavors were fine but not outstanding, as was the topping selection. Captain Crunch on my fro yo, really? That's just asking for a world of hurt on the roof of your mouth. You are allowed a very small sampler, and they have free fruit-infused water which needed a refill. The music was ridiculously loud so we sat outside. For more indulgence in the area, I would rather hike to the West Philly outpost of Capogiro (or the nearby Ben & Jerrys). But for a refreshing aux-healthy treat on a nice day, Kiwi fits the bill.

At first, this place looks a lot like an AYCE icecream joint, as you serve yourself. However, it's like a la mode, a la carte....or in english pay by the ounce. Very interesting innovative concept. Parking in this area is always a challenge, and because of it's prime location, it get's a lot of foot traffic. I think the birthday cake flavor was my favorite. I'm not exactly sure why this place is called Kiwi though.

  • Changman X.

Good taste! I like it not just for I can pick all the flavor myself, but the attitude of staff makes fell comfortable. I got there very late so there was few people. I am sure I will get to the same store in Chicago, if have one...

Kiwi is a wonderful place to create a cacophony of sweet flavors in a dessert cup. If Einsturzende Neubauten created froyo instead of experimental German noise music, then they would make something like what I had created at this establishment*. I like combining as much stuff as possible into my dessert so that each bite is 100 percent different than the last one. Torn by indecision, I combined nearly every flavor they had with a ton of fruit and candy toppings. The result is a mess but that is what happens when I'm given too much power. Their flavors are really fun(props to the cake batter and cookies&creme) and the fruit tasted pretty fresh. It seems the reviews of this place are pretty polarizing. Perhaps certain days bring in fresher ingredients and inferior staff and they need to work on their consistency. From my point of view, they did a good job. *Seriously though, Blixa Bargeld would do something far more innovative with froyo than I could.

The shop looks like the inside of Tinkerbelle's imagination (all pink), so you might think that only teenage girls come here, but my (guy) friends and I kind of enjoy it as well. They have a nice, rotating selection of different yogurt flavors, and a good variety of fresh fruit toppings. In terms of the quality of the actual yogurt, it's about average. It's not bad, but it is slightly watered down and not as rich and "real" tasting as higher end places like Yogorino. Still though -- a nice place to grab some froyo and hang out with friends on campus, especially since it's open late (midnight).

    (3)
  • Peter L.

Cheap, but not tasty. I judge a froyo place based the quality of its original tart froyo, and this one just watery. Other flavors were okay, but that's just a function of adding flavoring and sugar, you still can't really taste the yogurt. Toppings were okay - they had cut up cheesecake, which was interesting. Whirled Peace and Yogorino are much better.

  • Linda L.

Kiwi has improved itself especially in its flavors. I noticed they had changed some of their previously repetitive flavors to some new ones, including mango milkshake, pineapple, coconut etc, which are all great.

    (4)
  • Nikila D.

Though certainly not as high quality as other froyo places I've been to, Kiwi does a great, efficient job of being the "Penn froyo place" on campus. It's self-serve, so you pick your own flavors. Every time I've been there, they always have a decent mix of traditional yogurt flavors (tart, vanilla, chocolate) as well as unique, seasonal ones (pumpkin and cinnamon for the fall, etc.) The topping bar has decent variety and the prices are fair. The yogurt is a big on the sugary side, though, so if you're expecting traditional tart yogurt, be wary. The interior of Kiwi is clean, with ample seating for groups, though it does get busy when Penn students have time to spare.

  • Di P.

I always give places a second chance... So lotsa people were posting about this place being flavorless but I really feel like they've amped up their game since they've first opened. Like a lot of frozen yogurt places around the city they have a nice variety of flavors, lots of toppings, and the place itself is self-serve and very clean with lots of seating. If you're in West Philly you'll be glad it's there, but because it's so similar to other frozen yogurt places I wouldn't necessarily make the trip to it.

    (4)
  • Alex L.

Run-of-the-mill froyo joint. Everything I have tried is okay, if bland. The flavor and texture both seem "thin", as though the yogurt is lacking something? Nevertheless, it's a convenient place to hang out with friends after dinner or on a weekend. I thought it was a little strange at first that the samples aren't self-serve, but the employees are always very accommodating about serving you any flavors you want to try. I guess I should be thankful this place exists to give me my froyo fix, but I wish there was more competition in the area.

  • Khanh V.

I like this location because of the variety in yogurt flavors as well as toppings. I love how the toppings are stored in glass containers. This keeps toppings like nuts fresh. Kiwi Yogurt has both indoors and outdoors seats. The place is clean and colorful and has free water, which is nice.

    (4)
  • Scott M.

Surprisingly good, but then again, I didn't have super high expectations. Happily, the yogurt didn't have any "off" aftertaste like so many do. Nice selection of toppings. The devil's food chocolate was my favorite, my bride liked the birthday cake the most. Downsides? No container that is even close to a small size, making it very difficult to maintain reasonable portions. Somewhat pricey but not unusual for a place like this. All in all, 3.5 stars but it lacked the special something needed for me to round up the score.

    (3)
  • Ari K.

Boyd and I are big fans of Kiwi. The flavor selection is excellent, and the topping selection is diverse. The service is incredibly friendly (shout out to Jaylen, who was behind the counter today - he greeted everyone as they walked in, and he had a constant smile on his face). The only real problem I have is that the place is so small. Usually when we go, there's absolutely no room to sit, and it gets very loud.

    (4)
  • Carol H.

I'm very particular about my froyo. I only get euro tart/original tart with strawberries, mochi and peanut butter drizzled on top. The froyo isn't pandering to children that rather eat ice cream. I hate when the froyo is too creamy. If I wanted creamy, I'd eat ice cream. This place meets my froyo requirements.

    (4)
  • James S.

Love these little yogurt bars. Kiwi is more of the same. A good selection of frozen yogurt flavors. Several fruit flavors like berry and mango and also others like cheesecake and birthday cake. The topping bar here isn't bad, but it seems a little small. I usually go for a mix of a few fruit flavored yogurts with a ton of the fresh fruit from the topping bar on top. Noticed they also had honey at the bar and drizzling that on top of everything has amazing. Wish there was a bigger sitting area, but I can't complain too much cuz frozen yogurt just puts a smile on your face.

  • Santasangre C.

The only problem with these self-serve yogurt places is that you can easily overdo it. Thankfully if you stick to the non-fat or low-cal flavors, you aren't doing much. Don't bother with the cones. Coconut & blueberries FTW!

    (4)
  • Ali E.

Kiwi adheres to the now-standard self-serve fro-yo concept and the shop itself is adorable, but I'm on the fence. I always go for the original tangy at these places, and I wasn't thrilled (Berryline in Cambridge is my high point), but offers way more varieties that some of the other places, as well as way more toppings so it almost makes up for meh yogurt. The massive bowls (smart move, guys) encourage people to really load up, but I just wanted a taste and it was still over $3.50, which just seems exorbitant. I'm willing to pay that at Scoop De Ville, but not if I'm doing all the work.

Stopped by today and sampled a bunch of their yogurt. They were good but not great. Each flavor was very high in calories, leading me to believe they were more creamy. I prefer my yogurt tarty. But for those who like chocolatey or cakey flavors, this place probably has some of the best. Lots of interesting flavors. I ended up sticking to the plain tart though, which still is thicker than most of yogurt stores', but better than Red Mango's. The texture was a bit hard but they had good toppings and good syrups. Decor was okay, nothing creative, I still like the place but it's just not as good as other frozen yogurt places I've gone to.

I went with a friend on their grand opening day during the fall, when they were giving out free frozen yogurt all day. I was super excited because we probably have 10+ froyo places in my hometown and I'd been waiting for it to migrate over to Philly. I was SO disappointed by their froyo. It didn't taste good and the texture of it was off too. I had tried different flavors and I didn't really like any of those I tried (although I don't remember what they were now). The toppings dispensers were terrible too, making a mess all over the floor. Also, much more expensive than what I'm used to. Later in the afternoon, another friend wanted to try Sprinkles so I went with her. We waited in the long line and I waited outside as she got her free froyo, as in I had the chance to get more free froyo and I didn't because it sucked that bad. Sprinkles puts the froyo name to shame.

I like the fact that I can exercise my own version of portion control at this new Univ. City establishment. I do wish they had cups smaller than their smallest one, though, because it's hard to know when you've overdone it until you're paying $6 for fro-yo. I mixed the original tart and pumpkin. Both had exceptionally good flavor. The pumpkin actually tasted like pumpkin pie - neither too sweet nor too spicy. Unfortunately, I think some folks believe that fro-yo equals a completely guilt free treat. In reality, you can't really frequent the place several times in a week and expect not to pay for it. Yeah, they use HFCS, but I'm ok with that because I'm not eating there every week. I also like that I can indulge in sinful toppings like snickers bars and chocolate sauce if I'm so inclined. As someone with a nut allergy, I'm glad the place isn't overflowing with all manner of those options. I think the self-serve option is great and it's fun to swirl unusual flavors together. I feel like this a great place for students unlike some of the more pretentious-feeling venues in center city. Dessert should be fun - and I don't necessarily want to cover it in fruit and granola after long day.

  • A B.

This is easily the best self-serve yogurt shop in Center City/University City. Friendly staff, variety of flavors, fresh toppings. The Oreos and other cookies are never stale, which seems to be a problem at some of the other yogurt places in the city. The samples used to be self-serve, but now a staff member has to serve you a sample. Okay, but not so great when it's busy. Frequent buyer card takes a long time to fill up, but it's a decent prize if you can do it! It would be nice if they could update an individual Facebook page with available flavors.

I am not really sure why people dont like this place. The selection of yogurt was pretty good and it tasked great! The birthday cake and NY Cheesecake were my favorite by far, I will be getting a combo of these two flavors next time! The cookies and cream was good but the red velvet really just tasted like chocolate. I sampled all four and my bill was only $3.58. If you are paying $10 for the yogurt hear you are buying too much yogurt... slow down stop trying to fill the cup!

I finally stumbled upon Sprinkles while wandering around Univ City while my bf was off in his lab being a mad scientist for an hour. I knew that there HAD to be some version of the froyo franchise here because who WOULDN'T take advantage of all the UPenn kids (and employees!) who go gaga over this stuff as much as I do. I wasn't actually in the mood for froyo, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to try - thank god its self serve! They offer several flavors, I guess maybe about 12 or so total? Rough estimate. The flavors are the usual suspects and probably rotate a little bit since they're currently offering a pumpkin flavor, but I'm sure you will always find some vanilla/chocolate, some tart fruit flavors, the tart plain FOR SURE, and then things like mint, coffee, birthday cake (I shudder to think what it tastes like)...nothing too unusual. And since its self serve you get to choose which ones you want and how much of each, but choose wisely because even though you may be craving both coffee and strawberry, its not going to mix together so well. The toppings, though, are a little different than at all the other self serve froyo places. They still offer guilty goodies like cookie dough, brownie bites, cheesecake bites, crushed Oreos, etc, etc in small bins with a scoop, but then toppings like M&Ms and other candies are in these vertical tubes with a handle you turn to release them. BAD IDEA. Sure, I can TECHNICALLY control how much I want, but not really. Those machines are like the ones I've grown up with where you put the quarter in, turn the knob, and your measured amount of candy falls down into your hand. Except these things look like you turn the knob, open it, and candy falls out until you turn it the other way. I totally envision not closing it quickly enough and having more candy than froyo, purely by accident. No thanks. The froyo itself is...well, it can be improved upon, and I hope they do. The flavors vary in terms of quality; some taste great, some taste bad, and some don't quite taste like the flavor they're supposed to be but you shrug it off because it doesn't taste bad. The texture, too, isn't the best. Its on the icy side instead of tasting rich and creamy, therefore it isn't satisfying AND it melts quite quickly. If you like to savor things, you'll end up with gross soup before you're halfway through.

This is your run-of-the-mill fro-yo place where you put however many flavors in the cup and then dump your toppings in before finding out how much of a pig you are as you pay $9 for your glutenous sundae. (No offense- I speak from experience) Here is my problem with this place- everywhere else gives you a sample cup so you can choose your flavor. They used to do this, then they started making you request a sample cup, and now they have someone come out to the flavors and dole out the samples themself because some starving Penn student inevitably made their $9 sundae free of charge in a tiny thimble (...of course, I'm only theorizing). This wouldn't bother me except that I feel like if I didn't pick the flavor I want within a 2-3 attempts, I feel like a glutenous pig even before I tip the fro-yo scale...

We go here fairly frequently since we live a 15-20 minute walk away in West Philly and we're often nearby for dinner. I like the quality toppings they have at the self serve bar. There's always fresh, high quality ingredients like blackberries, raspberries, cookie dough bits and cheesecake bites. The hopper towers of the dry cereals and candies are also pretty good since they are easy to use and don't give you too much of one thing or another. What I didn't like is the quality of some of the yogurts, especially the fat-free tart. That yogurt looks almost like crushed ice and has about as much flavor. I think some of the varieties are just thin and icy, just because something is fat free doesn't mean it has to be flavor-free. It sucks when you don't have a choice between regular and fat free versions of the same flavor because the fat-free one is usually not very good. However, I did like the birthday cake, cheesecake and dark chocolate. I did not like that in order to get samples a worker has to come from behind the counter and serve you a sample. Overall, I would say this is on par with the other good places in the city. It's clean, fresh, and tasty.

I thought with the trend in fro yo, you couldn't go wrong, AND it's right across the street from where I work. I was not impressed. It was nice to have fro yo choices... but I like to stick with the vanilla. They do have lots of topping choices, but ... again, I like it simple. Since it's paid per weight, it gets pretty expensive and by the time you pay for it, a third of it has already melted. Yogorino needs to come to university city!!!!

If you're not in the mood to shell out a lot of money, Kiwi is a great frozen treat alternative that's much easier on your wallet, since you pay by the weight of your froyo. There are a number of flavors and ton more toppings. Flavors do change, but usually there's around 8-9 to choose from. It's not as good as froyo places in NYC (Pinkberry, Sixteen Handles, etc.) but it's good enough for University City. It seems like this place is always crowded year round, so just be prepared to wait for a seat--even in the winter.

I'm having a hard time reviewing Kiwi objectively, as I only seem to go when: 1.Its UNGODLY hot out. Problem: Any ice cream is going to taste like ambrosia. 2. I'm having one of those "I need chocolate before I end up in an orange jumpsuit and State issued Keds" days. (Don't hate, you know you have them too) Problem: My major complaint is that they don't also have popcorn available to calm my She-Hulk rage. So... on both instances, five star days. I made a point to go today; purely magnanimous decision of course; and had a solid 3.5 star experience. Birthday Cake Fro-Yo with strawberries and chocolate nonpareils. Very tasty. But with room for improvement. I like that I can control how much I get of what. I know some people have commented that its a little pricey at $.49/oz, and it is. In an ounce per ounce price and quality comparison, I'd rather have Capo. But really, I got a nice portion and it was only $3.50. Granted sometimes I get a bit more, (on my JS Walter days) but I've never paid more than $5. Yelpers, take note: anytime you're paying by the ounce you've got to pay attention to portion size. Kiwi doesn't help this by only providing bowls the size of hubcaps. So: I got a frozen treat w/out having to ride the El to Center City or West Philly, filling the frozen confectionery void between 30th and 38th Streets, and Philly is saved on a regular basis from my choco-rage. Four Stars average. (You wouldn't like me when I'm rage-y.)

Kiwi is A-OK DIY fro yo (enough abbreviations for you?). They have a pretty good selection of flavors (usually around 8 fro yo flavors and around 4 non-dairy flavors) and an even better selection of toppings (cookie dough, brownies, fresh fruit, fruity pebbles, the list goes on). The flavors rotate pretty frequently, but at the moment my favorites are the thin mint and the pink lemonade. They have an "original tart" flavor, but I doubt it would hold up against what you get at Yogorino or similar places. This is not fro yo for fancy-pantses. A couple downsides. The first is that it can end up on the pricy side. A small bowl filled about halfway with yogurt and toppings usually runs me about $4.50. I've seen folks who filled the bowl most of the way pay upwards of $8. The second downside is the atmosphere. The room is colorful, but the lighting is very bright and there is often a seating shortage, especially during high-traffic times (happy hour and dessert times, usually). You could bring a date, but it's not the most romantic or comfortable place to linger. On a nice day, I'd recommend bringing your concoction over to the benches outside the Penn library.

I work a block away and stop in often, but they NEVER have the No Sugar Added flavors THAT ARE LISTED AS AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE. Diabetics like fro-yo too. Boo for false advertising. Servers are college kids who seem to get flustered with the inevitable college crowds, and the toppings bar is often yucky. Hubs (who eats traditional fro-yo) says it's really tasty-- he did his own review as ours didn't mesh at all on Kiwi.

On a sort of froyo craze, I went to Kiwi Yogurt yet again for a cup of Berrygood - simple Pomegranate yogurt with Fresh Blackberries. I loved the tangy and sweet pomegranate frozen yogurt but what was amazing was how sweet the blackberries were. Coated in the yogurt, they were even better - so refreshing!

Do you remember how once upon a time there was a scandal when a bunch of high school students found out that Pirate's Booty was lying about their nutrition info and it really wasn't an amazing low-calorie food that happened to taste incredible? Yeah, I am waiting for that to happen at Kiwi. Because this froyo is so motherfreakin' delicious that there is no way most of the flavors are fat-free and 25-30 calories per ounce. Someone is lying to me, but I do not care because they're feeding me delicious frozen yogurt. I am not a big fan of the tart froyo that seems to be the big thing lately, so I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors at Kiwi. It tastes kind of like soft serve ice cream, which is awesome, because soft serve ice cream is delicious. I'm a big fan of the cookies and cream flavor, although the vanilla, peanut butter, cake batter, Irish mint, and chocolate are also worth a try. (You know, the other flavors probably are, too - I just haven't gotten to them yet). I usually go with fresh fruit for toppings, but there is enough of a selection to make anybody happy. Including chunks of cheesecake. Go nuts, kids. They've got a rewards program, which is awesome because if you end up here every day at least at the end of 2 weeks you'll have earned yourself a free froyo. The prices are really reasonable, mine always come out under $4 even with a good amount of toppings on top. The level of deliciousness and reasonableness of prices here would have me coming back even if I were to find that their nutrition information is nothing but a sweet, sweet lie.

A perfect little yogurt place in University City is always bustling with students from Penn, Drexel and the like. For less than $5 you can get a good portion of your choice of yogurt (from fun flavors like birthday cake to mango sorbet) along with a wide assortment of toppings. The free strawberry water is a nice touch. Although one might expect a kiwi to be present.

Do you enjoy the coldness of ice cream, but hate the creamy consistency? Do you love the scoop form of gelato, but hate its deep and intricate flavors? If so, you will LOVE frozen yogurt, and especially at Kiwi, where they specialize in their icy, artificially flavored "treats." Don't forget to put LOTS of toppings on your frozen yogurt to mask it's blandness and completely confuse your palate. Sarcasm aside, the workers are really nice here. Too bad their yogurt stinks.

I didn't have a difficult time trying to find this place because somehow I knew I found Kiwi when I spotted a few orange chairs outside. Don't ask. Anyways, the interior is very spacious and nicely designed. There was only one person working behind the counter, but it was pretty empty when I was there. Uh-oh. I tried their new flavor, "Juicy" Orange... and it does live up to its name. As soon as I tried to dispense it into my cup... all the juice started splattering all over my hand! Okay, maybe I'm exagerrating... but it did get on my hand. Flavor-wise... not juicy enough for me. Unlike other fro-yo shops, their dry toppings are held in dispensers. I had to turn the knob SLOWLY in order to dispense some Fruity Pebbles into the cup. The Fruity Pebbles were a bit unusual... maybe because it's generic. Fruit toppings such as strawberries, blueberries, and kiwis were also offered. Like other fro-yo shops, Kiwi's is priced at 49 cents/oz. This isn't the worst fro-yo I've ever had (*coughs* Sweet Ending *coughs*), but I still prefer Phileo Yogurt. If I'm ever around the area, I will be back to try something else.

I went here for a student discount night, where they gave us 2.50 of our orders (5 ounces) and was content with my 1.90 purchase, but would have paid 4.50 :) Comparable to Phileo Yogurt for U City, Kiwi offers some really cool flavors, and also waffle cones. I got Irish Mint, Peanut Butter, Milk Chocolate, and Cake Batter, because I just couldn't decide. Then, they have a banging assortment of toppings.... well controlled dispensers of things like m&ms, chocolate chips, cereals, nuts, etc... and also fruits, cheesecake, cookie dough, mochi, brownies, marshmallows... PLUS syrups, caramels, etc. Price is 50cents per ounce, with a separate charge for waffle cones. A fun date idea :) Perspective: A large scoop of hard ice cream is about 5 ounces. A double scoop is about 9. So, imagine an ice cream cone squished into a cup when loading up.

Let's be honest: By the time I got around to eating Kiwi fro yo I was full. Like, almost *too* full. Bearing that in mind, it refreshing albeit a bit too large with a pleasing mixture of flavors. It was an 100+ degree day and NOT getting a frosty treat just wasn't an option...Kiwi was by the hotel and let's just say it was dessert destiny. Think that line will work with my personal trainer on Monday? Hmm...

This "froyo" fad is so lame, Sprinkles is definitely not an exception. I don't think I'll ever understand it. Sprinkles is especially lame because its so damn expensive. When I tried it as a lunchtime "treat" I ended up paying almost double of what my lunch usually cost. The limited available flavors were not impressive and the toppings were all sloppy and mixed together by previous customers. Do your self a favor, save some money and go to the Wawa next door and get something that is a fraction of the price.

Okay I love frozen yogurt, but this is definitely not my go-to place. I tried frozen yogurt when I was visiting philly for the first time. My sister took me to phileo, which I fell in love with for the tarty flavors they offered. When I went back to state college for school, I missed it so much, i was dying for a frozen yogurt place with tart-y flavors to open up. Then came kiwi! And i had it religiously! I love it when i'm back at school in state college, solely for the reason that this is the only place that sells good frozen yogurt. However, when I'm back in philly, i would MUCH MUCH rather go to phileo. Kiwi has a cute atmosphere. I love going there to enjoy a nice froyo after hanging around university city. But if i can, I would go to phileo for just as great atmosphere and better fro yo.

Mochi Madness. Kiwi is a frozen yogurt place in the style of the ever-popular Pinkberry or Red Mango chains that are popping up like daises in NYC and LA. Only Kiwi twists the literal frozen yogurt shop model-it's self-serve and pay by weight. While the little cogs in my brain worked hard to truly believe that A) I could eat a pound of mochi if I so chose and B) that...wait, I can seriously eat all that mochi and oreos? Needless to say I am more of a topping-fiend than fro-yo fan, so I only went for the Pure Vanilla flavor (which tasted exactly how I expected it to-straight up vanilla bean). My friends went for the berry and tart flavors with fruit toppings and there were no complaints. For a 50/50 mochi/vanilla yogurt combo, I only paid about $4. The yogurt is denser than your typical soft-serve, so next time I won't be as heavy handed in making my beautiful yogurt swirl designs in the cup.

They changed their name to Kiwi Yogurt. I guess Kiwi is one of the 20 something topping choices? Even though they have photos of bright crisp fruit all over the store, I have yet to see someone choose the Kiwi. It's more about the chunks of cookie dough, gigantic canisters of M&Ms, crushed Oreos, caramel sauce, and crushed peanut butter cups, in my opinion. Still better than Sweet Ending, btw

I've been here a couple times now, and I've gotta say that this is one of those few places where I disagree with the Yelp community. It's open late (noon to midnight except an hour earlier on the weekdays), it's located right across from Sang Kee (perfect for an after-dinner whipped snack), and it's dirt cheap. I'm not a huge fan of getting a large amount of base yogurt, so I like how I can mostly get fruit here. Staff are always friendly and it's kept warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Couldn't ask for more spot-on froyo with fruit when you want it in UCity.

After crying my eyes out for the last year and a half because the only thing (non-human) that I truly miss about Cali is Pinkberry, I was appeased (mostly) by the few fro-yo places that are springing up Easties. The appeasement is dwindling, however, and I'm starting to forget how great Pinkberry really is. I'm pretty disappointed by Sprinkles. Here's why: These chains are all knockoffs of some original - an original that offered PLAIN fro-yo and green tea fro-yo with HEALTHY and FRESH topping options. Thus, it made sense in the health-over-bearing LA. NONE of the places in Philly stick to this m.o. Not only that, but every time I've been to Sprinkles, the plain and green tea options were out of service. What's more is that the topping options didn't include much fresh fruit! With these issues, this venture seems so (lol) fruitless... Get with it, Sprinkles.

After walking by Kiwi multiple times while in U City and never stopping in to try it, I figured, "Why not?" Since I was in the mood for something fruity, I settled on a combination of the strawberry kiwi, strawberry colada, and mango topped with fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. I decided to forgo the sprinkles and sugary toppings this time, and it was worth it. Should you happen to bring a friend who is vegan or lactose intolerant, the shop offers a few non-dairy flavors which are good even if you don't fall into either of those categories. I thought the girls working there were very friendly, attentive, and kept the shop well-maintained. They also have a frequent buyer card, so that's a great incentive to keep customers coming back in!

I'm not really sure why everyone is so down on this place. My experience was pretty different from most people. I thought the flavor selection was great, with about 12 different types of yogurt to choose from (the peach was excellent). Likewise, the toppings were diverse, well laid out, fresh and inventive (pretzels, cheesecake, blackberries?) This place wins hands down over Sweet ending. I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive. Brad's rating (out of 5): Price: 2 Food: 4 Decor: 4 Service: 3 Wild card: Waffle cups are only 49 cents extra...should have sprung for it.

Looks like someone finally got wise to the fact that there were a bunch of froyo-crazed folks in University City who wouldn't mind skipping the walk to Sweet Ending and Yogorino in Rittenhouse Square. This Sprinkles shop, one of four in a local chain, just opened Friday next to the Wawa on Chestnut Street just north of 36th. Apparently the company is fighting off a lawsuit from the famous LA cupcake joint of the same name. The wall is studded with several self-serve yogurt machines boasting a large variety of crazy flavors, including peach, oreo, peanut butter, and plenty of classics. It is sold by weight. I found the yogurt to have a good texture (better than the icy Sweet Ending product), but the strawberry and peach flavors I tried had a somewhat false taste. After a look at the nutrition info on their website, it looks like they mostly use natural flavors, although the yogurt is chock-full of additives and high-fructose corn syrup. In addition to the fruity flavors, I tried vanilla and chocolate as a baseline. The chocolate had the best flavor of the lot, although its glacially slow emergence from the machine evoked decidedly scatological imagery, a definite turnoff. They must still be working out the kinks with those machines. The toppings were plentiful, though slanted toward kiddie toppings like candy rather than grownup gourmet tastes like those at Yogorino. Nonetheless, I found the raspberries and blackberries I tried to be delicious and fresh-tasting, though I was astounded the only kind of nuts they had was whole walnuts. No almonds or peanuts? Really? The exceedingly perky staff, mod look, advantageous location and popular concept seem destined to make this spot a hit, but it doesn't hit the quality and creativity of Yogorino. For those who prefer a classic froyo stop to the exotic probiotic Euro-yo, however, this place is a gem. And given that this is two blocks from my office, I'm sure I'll be back!

Yum! They have a good variety of flavors to choose from - I usually go with the original tart, which is very refreshing and easy to add toppings to. I've also had the NY Cheesecake (good) and Birthday Cake (a little sweet). Red Velvet was just okay, Berrylicious Sorbet was pretty tasty. I like their selection of toppings and the dispensers they come in. I usually load up on Fruity Pebbles, fresh fruit and of course...MOCHI!! Ugh I love mochi so much it's sick. They also have cheesecake chunks, cookie dough, brownies, pound cake, and so on. Pricing is by the ounce so try not to get too excited.

It was cold. It was rainy. It was windy. and I had a froyo craving*! so what to do? I braved the cold, the rain, and the wind for a cup of froyo that tasted very sweet and not tart at all. They should advertise that they sell soft serve ice cream and not froyo. Some standout flavors- strawberry and birthday cake. *am i the only one? horrible weather induces my craving for frozen treats.

Okay. So I've lived in New York and have been spoiled with Red Mango and Pinkberry. (More spoiled with Red Mango...but that's a different story!) Sprinkles reminds me of Yogurtland in New York. There's many frozen yogurt machines and they have many flavors to choose from. They charge by weight so when you get a little frozen yogurt happy (like myself), you might just end up paying a little more than you thought. So advice, limit yourself to maybe 2-3 flavors in one cup at most. Or else everything sort of just mixes in your cup and you forget which is which. And don't go toppings crazy! They have a toppings bar with cookie bits, cake bits, mochi and of course the healthy route, fruit. Cute concept but I've had better.

  • Tiff B.

Great flavors of frozen yogurt (I had plain fat-free tart and blueberry acai). Lots of toppings to choose from (I had fruit pebbles, coconut, fresh strawberries). Be careful though, bowls are big and it can get out of hand since it's paid by weight. I didnt go too overboard and ended up paying $6.

  • Sandra L.

Nothing much to rave about (I think after having Red Mango in NYC, nothing comes close to being comparable). Kiwi is the guilt-free trip for me when I want to indulge in something sweet. Plus, at $0.49 per ounce, it's a pretty good deal.....unless you go froyo crazy and get every flavor offered (the same goes for the toppings). Speaking of flavors, Kiwi tends to mix it up a bit every once in a while. There are the "frequents" or standards, such as the vanilla bean, strawberry, cheesecake, mint, cookies and cream, and mixed berry or acai berry sorbets. During the beginning of the summer, I recall Red Velvet Cake was an extremely popular flavor - my girlfriend was hooked. As for me, I stick to my usuals: mint/coookies and cream combo, strawberry, and mixed berry sorbet. Then, I top it all off with crushed graham crackers. Yummers ^_^ Bright, sunny interior, friendly staff, and an alright selection of flavors, this is definitely the place to come satisfy your sweet tooth.

I give it a 3 because i've only had frozen yogurt TWICE!!! this was my second time. it was my first self-serve. i felt like a little kid at a candy store... literally. they had tons of sweet treat toppings! mmm-mm! i got strawberry, cookies n cream or oreo (i dont remember) some recee's cereal and sprinkles... then i discovered the fresh fruit! so i threw some strawberries in there.. i paid around $4 and some change. not bad, it was filling and delicious! its convenient location is nice since i go to drexel.. and west philly doesnt have ritas... cant really say much about the staff... can we try to smile and pretend we're happy. please? tis all...

I love self-serve frozen yogurt, and I'm extra impressed with Kiwi's array of sweet flavors. Some of the other frozen yogurt places in Phily only have tart flavors, but Kiwi has it all! There are a ton of toppings-- including cheesecake, sugar cookies, brownies, oreos, and cookie dough. I'm convinced I couldn't have made it through my first year of law school without Kiwi!! Also, the management is super student friendly. Every couple of months they have free froyo days, and they patiently serve everyone even as the line wraps around the block. In sum: KIWI IS AWESOME. Suggestions: Try the Pumpkin! It's seasonal, so get it while you still can.

I find that this place is most similar to Pinkberry (of the major fro yo chains in the US). I prefer my yogurt on the less creamy side but sometimes, froyo lacks flavor when it's "icier". This place does a good job though with their flavors and they always have an interesting selection. Since this place is so close to school, I've stopped in many times and I try the new flavors but end up always going with the tangy original, my favorite. Pumpkin and cookies n cream are both decent. The mint lacks a certain something tho and their chocolate just doesn't stand up to Sweet Ending's. Their berry flavors are usually good without being too sweet or sour. They also have birthday cake, pure vanilla, cheesecake and some other heavier flavors, all of which are a bit much for me. They also place flavors that go well together next to each other (e.g., mint and chocolate). You can grab a sampler cup from the cashier and try the flavors before you commit. There are different bowl sizes and you can pick from several toppings. They've got caramel, M&M's, coconut shavings, mochi, kiwi, strawberry, pineapple, blueberries, different types of cereal, chocolate chips, etc. I like that they offer different colored spoons (hot pink, blue, green, etc) which fits the decor. I always see people in here even when it's freezing outside! I find that it's a great dessert to have after dinner to help you digest.

I really miss their red velvet flavor. Since that disappeared, I have been more of a regular at Sweet Endings since I prefer their PB to Kiwi's. Its very close to Penn so it makes for a nice afternoon snack without being horrible for you and I like that they have the option of a waffle bowl (which I never get but always seriously consider). Prices are pretty good, the staff is usually ok, but it tends to get really crowded at certain times of day (which I am still unable to predict).

The fro yo is okay. They have a large selection of flavors to choose from....though I only ever get tart plain. I've tasted a few of the others and they are very sweet. Its no pinkberry or yogurtland, but it will do if you are craving a tasty frozen treat.

I love frozen yogurt. So of course, there's really no way that a frozen yogurt place would ever get a seriously bad review from me. It's not that expensive if you're not going overboard, I think it's about the same as any ice cream devoted place around the city. Okay, so one day I came skipping up to Kiwi was usual, happy for my sugar fix. My younger sister was visiting and I had to take her to Kiwi for her first froyo. I was appalled when they said she had 17.7 ounces (the injustice of that number is burned into my memory). I paid before I realized the mistake, and when I tried to correct it the girl said that because my sister had already licked the spoon it was too late. Excuse me, she had one of the smaller cups. There is no way that you can fit over a pound of frozen yogurt in there. I go to Kiwi often and I get almost the same amount every single time. Her cup was halfway full. I swore off ever visiting again, but a month or two later I trudged back for much of the same experience. Go for frozen yogurt, don't expect the life changing. **I'm not sure they have the smaller size cups anymore. The last two times I went there weren't any, which makes it even more of a problem for people who tend to overload.

Okay, so I went to school at Drexel and still frequent the area to visit friends. Not too long ago I was introduced to Sprinkles. Then, I fell in love. Ice cream is my weakness. It is my go to when I'm happy or sad and it's the answer to all my problems. Soooo naturally when I entered and immediately saw ALL of the various soft serves along the back wall, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Not only can you mix and match whatever ice cream you want (I totally recommend the peanut butter.. it is the best peanut butter yogurt I ever tried in my entire 21 years of living) but you can all mix and match whateverrr toppings you want. Then at the end they weigh and you pay. So that's the tricky part.. don't go toooo far overboard. But I cannot wait to make a trip back to Philly.. that will definitely be my first stop or maybe second after a Pat's cheesesteaks? MM, I'm a fat kid.

I'm a fro-yo addict, and I'm glad that Sprinkles opened at a location so close to the University. As a student, i find it easily accessible and I can stop by a couple times a week after work. The pricing is alright. It's not overly expensive, but it does add up if you're not careful. Usually I get only the yogurt and no toppings, since a lot of the toppings aren't worth the .69 dollars/oz I prefer another fro-yo place down in South street to Sprinkles since they have more flavors, but since Sprinkles is a lot closer, I'll probably be visiting them a lot more often.

I used to go to school in West Chester and while there, I ate a lot of Kiwi (Sprinkles) yogurt! The yogurt itself is really good - they have a lot of flavors and great toppings. As for why I gave this place only 3 stars - I now go to school in Las Vegas, where there are a lot of frozen yogurt places. After I visited a few places out here, I can't believe how expensive Kiwi is! I remember always paying a lot for even a small cup of yogurt there, but I just figured it was expensive because it was yogurt and it was "trendy". I can't exactly remember the price per ounce, but I see on some reviews that it is $0.49/ounce. Most of the places I've been to out here are $0.36/ounce - HUGE difference! Now I realize that it actually is reallllly expensive and it is not as good as other places! I would recommend this place, but I would also suggest finding another yogurt place that is cheaper because they do exist!

This has been my favorite self-serve froyo place yet! I always mix peanut butter, cake batter/birthday cake, and salty caramel pretzel with pretzel, peanut butter sauce, rainbow jimmies, and cookie dough toppings. They have a lot of amazing toppings, but beware of some of the brownie squares...they're hard to eat in froyo. The seasonal pumpkin spice flavor is also amazing!
