I used Joshua's for my wedding and all I can say is Thank you, thank you, thank you. They took care of the food, which was excellent as well as local and fresh. Our guests loved it. They also recommended vendors and helped in coordinating them at the wedding which took a lot off of our shoulders. I loved working with Laurie and really appreciated her guidance in all things wedding related. We were married at the Morris Arboretum and they really seemed to know the place and what to do. Many of my guests have commented that the wedding was magical and the food played a lot in that. The menu was phenomenal and our guests loved the passed hors'deuvres ( lamb chops, chicken and waffles, crostini and salmon kabob). Yum! I truly appreciated our experience with them and would use them again for any other event. It was the best wedding we could ask for. Thanks so much guys!

Our wedding isn't until next year, but I want to write a review on how wonderful Joshua's has been so far! My fiance and I booked Joshua's recently for our wedding at Morris Arboretum next August (2014). We met with Laurie the coordinator a few weeks ago and just had a tasting last night. We actually decided to go with Joshua's before even doing the tasting, just based on our initial meeting, their focus on fresh, seasonal foods, and their enthusiasm to craft a custom menu with us (and of course other yelp reviews!). Not only is their approach to food right up our alley (fresh, flavorful ingredients to create innovative takes on classic dishes), but they seem genuinely excited to help plan the menu and day. Plus their prices are extremely reasonable, less than other places that don't seem to have as good food or selection. Our tasting last night was fantastic. We had said previously that we love seafood, and so David (the chef) made us a variety of seafood dishes to try: tuna ceviche, shrimp spring rolls, red snapper w/ orange soy glaze, butterfish w/ summer corn salsa, seared ahi tuna, lamb stew w/ brussel sprouts and figs, and a tomato, feta and balsamic salad. He also served us blackened shrimp and a scallop on kiwi as extras. Everything was amazing! I would eat these things every night if I could. After the meal, over homemade chocolate chip cookies and milk, he sat down with us to go over what we liked and ideas for crafting our menu. He had a lot of great ideas on how to take our favorite parts of each dish to make them work and incorporate our travel/heritage theme ideas. I can't wait to try lamb stew meat pasties, vegetarian jambalaya, and serve mini beer samplers! We also sat down with Laurie again on where we are in the planning process (not very far) and any ideas for colors, setup, linens, etc. She and David are both wonderful so far to work with. Seeing her pictures of other weddings they've done and talking with her about creative ideas other people have done makes me and my fiance even more excited for planning our wedding. I'll of course have to update my review after the wedding, but didn't want to wait that long to comment! If you're looking for wonderful people to help you create a custom menu for your wedding, Joshua's is great choice. If you're looking for cookie-cutter food and/or just want to pick from a pre-established list of menu options, then look elsewhere.

When my husband and I began browsing caterers for our intimate (17 people) backyard wedding, we knew we wanted a company that worked with local foods and seasonal menu items. We stumbled upon Joshua's Catering's website and saw sample menus on their site and thought it looked perfect. After we gave them an idea of what we had in mind--entrees like blackened shrimp tacos and bbq chicken with mac 'n cheese--or a trio of dessert--they invited us to their location for an official tasting. We couldn't have been more impressed, it was exactly what we were looking for. Jason and David went over every menu item (we had many courses) with us to make sure we gave them our own twist and personalization. When it came to our big day, our families had nothing but kind words to say. The meal definitely stole the show (in a great way!) and will always remain one of the most memorable parts of our wedding day. The chef had a very professional work station set up in our kitchen, and they even cleaned the dishes and space up afterward, which was a huge relief as we were heading off to our honeymoon the next day. We even came home to leftover lavender honey gelato (so so good) in our freezer, which we didn't realize they left for us. We had an evening of local food, thoughtful courses, and a chef that couldn't have been kinder and more welcoming to our families. We will definitely be using Joshua's Catering again in the future for any big occasions.

I wish I was independently wealthy so David could cater my house parties. Too bad I could only afford to hire Joshua's Catering for my wedding! Food at the wedding was better than the tasting, now how often does THAT happen? Beginning to end, flawless execution. I saw Chef David across the way during the wedding and mouthed the words "THANK YOU" like I was some kind of creepy stalker. I was so grateful!! Laurie, the event coordinator, is an absolute doll. She ran sh*t like a boss the day of!! It needs to be said that my wedding carrot cake (that weighed about 24 pounds, no joke) was the best damn cake I have ever tasted in my whole life. I brought a piece on the plane the next day! People stared bc it was 5 am. Haters. Please do yourself a favor, if you have an event and want legit good food made by a legit good chef, use Joshua's Catering.

Went here for a quick meal before leavin PA. What a treat!! The menu has plenty of options from chicken to roast beef to salmon and a whole bunch of vegetarian options.everything is available in sandwich, wrap or panini(my favorite) style. Their butternut squah soup was great! It was a good hearty consistency and not that watery out-of-the-can kind. My chicken wrap was also tasty and they used balsamic vinagrette instead of mustard or mayo. I actually felt healthier after eating here! Their baked desserts looked delicious, especially the brownies, but I didn't try them. I wanted to leave something to look forward to for my next visit to Jenkintown!

We used Joshua's to cater an office party. Could not have asked for better service. Joshua's provided everything...literally from soup to nuts...with impeccable service and within budget. The food was creative, fresh, and delicious. The staff was extremely competent, pleasant and engaging. They made it easy, fun, enjoyable and affordable. Highly recommend Joshua's for any event.

We had Joshua's for our wedding at the Morris Arboretum. We chose to go with a smaller catering company because we felt we would get more personalized attention, and better pricing - we were right! From the beginning, David (the chef) and Laurie (the coordinator) wanted to work with us closely on our menu and pricing. The cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres and antipasti table were amazing. The bartenders (so I heard) were great. Two hiccups - they forgot to serve an ENTIRE table of guests !! and then started doling out staff meals. So they ran out of steak. Kind of inexcusable. Also - the table layout was not what I had stipulated, so some of my good friends were in a corner instead of next to the dance floor. I heard feedback that the serving of the meals was not very coordinated, and some people's meals were whisked away while they were getting drinks, or in the photo booth. Overall, though, the food was really good and the price per person could not be beat. 3.5 stars.

I really enjoy this little neighborhood establishment when I need a quick lunch. Their house chicken salad is the best I've had in a very long time and makes a delicious meal inside a sundried tomato wrap with lettuce and tomato. The staff is always friendly and accommodating of my order and the wait is never very long before you've got your meal in your hands. They have a variety of sandwiches and wraps and salads as well as daily items like frittata, meatloaf, etc. You can be assured that your food was prepared on site from ingredients actually classified as a food and not a scientific derivative. I also like that they have an awesome assortment of beverages other than soda. Stop in for lunch or have them cater your next party. Your insides will thank you.

I used to live directly upstairs from Joshua's. It's really a great place. Very good prepared food. I used to dig their salmon, chicken and asparagus dishes. Paninis were solid for lunch. Once in a while, I'd pop down in the morning and grab a bagel and some coffee. Everything was always on point...and when you throw in the chill environment, it's an all around winner.

I really do love Joshua's. the staff is so kind and sweet, the food is delicious and made with care. And my most recent Joshua's related discovery is the organic coffee they serve - so good, the best organic coffee I've tried to date.

We just had a terrible experience with this company. After reassuring us that they could work with us on our date and telling me during my first outreach that our budget was sufficient, they took a different larger job for our date, leaving us out in the cold. We'd been talking for five months when this happened, and now our event is nine months away. I didn't even get a phone call about this, just an email. My experience with Laurie, their coordinator, was similar to Madalyn S., who reviewed them on 9/10/2014. We went so far as to decide to only use the Abington Art Center if they were available, because we didn't think the other caterers AAC allows fit our thoughts for our event, and Joshua's knew this. Laurie was hot and cold with communication. In retrospect I realize she needed my deposit to hold the date, but she never said that. She mentioned a deposit in an early email and then we talked about setting up a meeting. Over the course of myriad emails, the deposit never came up again, until two days before they dropped us -- at which time they clearly had a meeting set up for another event on our date. Even then, when she emailed to ask if I could send them the deposit, Laurie didn't bother to tell me our event was in jeopardy. I only learned that when owner David Hall emailed me several hours before his meeting to inform me that if this potential client signed on at the meeting, we'd lose their services. He also informed me at that time that they didn't think they could make us happy within our budget. I really can't get over this terrible communication and unprofessionalism. My gut is that our budget wasn't in line with their company and when the other party came up for our date, they waited until the last minute to tell us on purpose. But why not just talk to me about the budget, like say, "hey, we think you need to add a few thousand dollars to your budget. Is that possible? Here's why ..." Then we could have made a decision whether we could invest more or not. The other thing that really surprised me was that when I sent Laurie ideas about what we wanted, in which I clearly said that I wanted to meet in person so we could brainstorm together and also because I thought my expectations might not be in line with my budget, they still sent me a recommended menu. It was clear from the menu that Laurie hadn't read all of what I'd emailed and that was really disappointing. One of the things I'd heard about this caterer is how personally they work with clients to make the event really client-specific. Thus, sending me a menu before we met, that ignored so much of what I'd written, felt really inconsistent with what I'd heard about the company.

My husband and I hired Joshua's Catering to cater a rehearsal dinner for 110 people at Abington Art Center in Jenkintown, PA. 105 people showed up and Joshua's ran out of the main course (meat and fish) before the dinner service was complete. Several guests, including us (the hosts) did not get any of the fish or meat dishes...Only tosed salad and grilled vegetable were left which meant that no one could have seconds. I would caution anyone about using Joshua's for a buffet style...I have no doubt they do a a much better job with plated service. It was a huge disappointment to us since they came to us so highly recommended.
