Eggplant Grinder and Greek salad are off the chain! The pizza is excellent!

Excited to try the pizza and the old man wasn't grumpy at all, however he is old fashioned! Would like to note they only have plain, pepperoni, and sausage slices. There is a bogus charge for using credit cards 50 cents extra for orders under 10 dollars and 75 cents extra for orders over 10 dollars. I decided to try a slice of sausage pizza. Which in the long run gave me indigestion. I don't like burping sausage hours after I eat the stuff. The pizza dough was floppy, however the crust tasted pretty good. The interior of the place was clean. Also at one point the building probably held banquets as it is really unique with a high ceiling. There is a small arcade in the place, where you can see signs, play at your own risk. I'm pretty stuck between giving this place 2 or 3 stars, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for having a unique store, arcade, and a neighborhood feel. I would highly reccomend trying to improve the pizza here. And old guy keep being old fashioned because thats the way to be.

I used to love Giovanni's pizza. I say used to because I went in the other night with my daughter and it was nothing how it used to be. I remember the soft dough, excellent crust and cheesy goodness of a Giovanni's pizza. What I received instead was a pizza that was kind of over done. I also ordered hot buffalo wings that didn't seem hot to me. But they were very generous with the blue cheese which made me happy because most places are so stingy with it. On the old grumpy man everyone refers to him as, he didn't give us napkins and I can admit I was a little too nervous to ask for it. Needless to say this pizza is not the pizza from my teenage years and for the prices, I probably won't come back. I take off 3 stars for lack of napkins, the quality of the pizza, the prices and the extra charge for using a credit card which seems super bogus to me.

The owner (the old short Italian guy) has quite an attitude, but he is hilarious as long as you realize he is like this and can't help it. Food is great, have tried everything from plain pizza to loaded pizza, wings, salad, strombolis, calzones, pastas, and cold sandwiches, I have never once had a complaint about his food. Make sure you know what you want in a hurry if you call and the old guy answers because he will hang up if you are indecisive. Other than this I recommend this place for the money.

I was a patron here for years. We've spent over $4000 here over the last five years. And last month when they sent over a burnt pizza and two spoiled salads, I called to complain. But the grumpy man yelled and screamed at me and hung up on me three times. There's grumpy and then there's completely abusing loyal customers. And at the end of the day, as much as we have normally liked the food - we will not set foot in that place again and until they reach out to us, we will do our best to make certain that other people stop patronising this establishment.

The old guy is grumpy, but funny if your thick skinned, the food is excellent, especially the buffalo wings and stromboli

There's another review of this place that was filtered out and I think they were on to something. I'm always weary when I walk into a place that's hostile to a simple "hello." At least the delivery guy was friendly. I ate in though... what? I just got 2 slices of cheese and a soda. I liked that the pizza was doughy, but otherwise it was bland even with the peppers, garlic, and Italian seasoning I sprinkled on top. Lesson learned. The food (at least what I had) was average at best and the old guy at the register was rude. I wonder what the actual space used to be. It really has an interesting look to it (mezzanine and all) and would look great if fully restored (maybe a cool bar).

My old high school hang out spot so I am biased. I love the place ! Yes it's a neighborhood spot and the owner may have a bit of a 'tude but the place is nostalgic to me. Been going there since it opened in '79. It's has changed a bit over the years but is still, basically the same Giovanni's I used to go to for a slice and to play Space Invaders. On this return trip I played Ms. Pac Man for 0.25 cents and got a mushroom cheesesteak with ketchup. It was amazing! A real Philadelphia cheesesteak that I've missed for the longest. Yes they didn't hand out the napkins right away but I was cool with that. They asked what I wanted and offered fried onions and a drink which I didn't have. But for me this place is tops. You gotta go a little out of the way to park if driving and just seeing the pizza reminded me of how good it is (next time). Oh and the upstairs used to be seating like it is now and they used to have arcade games up there as well....right up the same spiral stairs that are still there today...

Unexpected gem. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat-in here, but the pizza was bomb. I ordered a basic pepperoni and mushroom xtra large pizza. Totally worth the $20. Spiced well w/ great cheese-sauce-crust ratios. The crust is close to the best I've had in this city! Doughy, not thin crust and made fresh each day.
