We order pizza, cheesesteaks, etc. about 1-2 times a month since moving into the area 5 years ago. I will admit, I have waited 3 hours for deliver once, and on a couple of occassions, the driver did not have the credit card receipt to sign, & once the order came missing an entire meal, but all these issues seem to have been resolved in the past year or so. The customer service on the phone is top notch. The girls who man the phones look me up by phone number, thank me for calling (by name, btw) are quick, pleasant and know exactly how to talk to their customers. They keep cards on file by last 4 digits to make the order as easy as possible. The only thing easier would be ordering online. One hint for the owners though- if you try to upsell me on a side order, or some other new delicious addition to the menu, I will likely add it to my order--just sayin recommending things would be an awesome addition. Delivery has been quick, and the driver even makes me feel less self-conscious about having a ridiculously goofy barking dog. The food is seriously delicious: Pizza- The sicilian pizza is a great deal, and fantastic heated up in the toaster oven after freezing individual slices. Rustica Pizza is a prosciutto lover's dream. Quatro Formagio isnt my cup of tea, but my husband loves it. Tip: If you love pizza bubbles, ask to have it well done...Once, I got a bubble the size of a teacup. September 2012: Ive fallen in love with their salads lately, but I had a pretty terrible experience last night. Order took about an hour & delivered with 2 huge salad ends, about 5 croutons and no breadsticks. WTH?!? I understand it was 8pm on a football Sunday, but at least try to have some semblance of quality. 2 stars deducted!

Looks like most people were complaining about delivery, we always go there in person to get a cheese steaks. Place is very quite and perfect to sit down and eat in piece. Their Tiramissu is very good and made from scratch, this is must have item. As long as you are not ordering anything fancy you should enjoy their food. Don't order any seafood dishes and expect superior 5 star restaurant quality. In fact I ordered shrimp pizza and it was oversalted, will not bother to order it again.

Unfortunately, since my last review I've had a bad experience here at Don Giovanni's and i didn't want any fellow yelpers to experience the same thing based on my previous 5 star reviee. I really, really love their Caesar salad bread bowls and was a regular for about 3 years. However, I haven't been back here since 2013 when I was eating at a table in the front part of the dining room with 2 of my coworkers when a cockroach came up from the side of our table and proceeded to run across the table. I couldn't eat any more of my food after that. I quietly mentioned the roach to the waitress as I didn't want to scare or gross anyone else out in the restaurant and was told that they have an exterminator come weekly to get rid of them. I could be wrong, but spraying every week seems like a lot of times to keep a pest problem at bay that doesn't seem to be working and I just grosses me out to think that these roaches could have touched my good. I'm not sure if they've made any improvements, but I can't bring myself to come back here to find out.

The Stromboli was very good and I tried my wife's pep pizza too and it was pretty good. The salads where big filling, plenty of leftovers for later on. The wait staff where very nice and attentive.

I can not believe the business practices of the man that owns this store. He made me the WRONG pizza, which wouldn't have been a problem if his sauce wasn't weird tasting. I called and was put on hold three times while he argued with the girl who answered the phone. The third time I could hear him in the background and she said "do you just want to talk to her yourself?" He told me again a few times that I had an "old" menu and thats not how he makes the Margarita pizza anymore after he heard her say that to me twice. Seriously??? First of all, the menu wasn't "OLD" and it's clearly not my fault if he's changed the menu yet again since he took over. I just ordered two weeks ago and picked up a pizza four days ago. THIS WAS THE MENU I HAD. There are a lot of mistakes with Don Giovanni's. There is still a pizza in our refrigerator from a few days ago that changed taste and we didnt want to finish. We easily give him $40 every week. The biggest mistake he made was telling the driver to collect our old pizza. I didn't want it anyway. I ate a tiny slice of it....but it's just the point when we were both sick that I had to argue to get the right pizza, and then he has the balls to demand his incorrect pizza back when he's only going to throw it away. Or, so I hope. As you can see from my other review, he has actually made a mistake on my order before and not offered to fix it. When I called, I got nothing from them. I should have known then. I'll never give him another cent. It's a big city with tons of other places to eat. It's a dump inside and I can do better.

insulted and assaulted by driver after driver brought order, i gave a 20, the bill was 14.80 he said "are we good" thinking I'd give him a $5 tip. I told him to just give me a $5. I had $2 for tip waiting. he said he had $2. I settled for the $3 tip and told him I wasn't ordering from there again. He said I didn't need to be an ass. I told him to take the food back and give me my money. I got my money back and he then called me a f-in a**h*le. I confronted him and knocked the food down so it was now out of the way. He then grabbed my shirt, ripped it then started punching. He then told me he was only 17. I wasn't about to hit him back. too risky. This was my first and last order. called to speak to owner. no one available. called back and asked for a return call. still nothing...called a 3rd time and was put on hold for owners wife, then they disconnected the call. After 3 hours I called again spoke to the owners wife and they said they suspended him for 30 days.....A customer driven business that couldn't care about the customers

The food continues to go down, I'm still waiting for it to return to where it was 20 years ago. Service is getting worse also. 2 days ago I called in an order for pickup. It took me 20 minutes to get there. I paid, and still had to wait another 25 minutes for my food. They weren't busy. Its a disgrace. That was the last time I'll be getting anything from here. Another long time customer walking away.

I ordered shrimp alfredo for delivery. Delivery man shows up and drops the bag on the ground, spilling all pasta on my doorstep. He picked the food off the ground and said he would return with another order of shrimp alfredo. Someone else returned in 20 minutes. I was ELATED about the fast service. Welp, turns out they took those same noodles and put them in another container with new sauce. How do I know? Well, it snowed that morning so I had ice melt on my steps and, my new order of shrimp alfredo was littered with salt chunks. I was so upset, I almost went to fight the people. Then I decided to contact Philadelphia's licensing and inspection and the Office of Food Protection. This restaurant isn't ethical. Watch your food...

New owners, definitely a decline in quality and service. I give it another year or 2 and another former Philly landmark will be boarded up. Bring back Italian Take Out!!

  • Harrison L.

One great relic of a pizza dive. Judging from the other reviews it seems they're not good for take out, but for eat-in, my experiences are always great. If what you want is to feel like you're in one of those old school pizza joints that you grew up with (assuming you were born in the 1970's or earlier) this is the spot to visit. It hasn't been redecorated since 1984 it seems. The food is exactly what you expect. Nothing gourmet to knock your socks off - just good old Italian favorites served with lots of bread. The placemats have ads for local businesses and a map of Italy. Need I say more?

  • Melissa S.

The salads are wonderful but the customer service needs to be improved. Someone should inform the owner that he/she employs some of the worst people I have ever had to deal with. The woman who answers the phone is what really pushed us over the edge-She should drop the attitude. If she's that upset about working for a pizza joint-GET ANOTHER JOB! Our company orders at least 60.00 worth of food and the last 4 times they have gotten the order wrong. Unreal. We have all decided to never place another order with Don Giovanni's-Ever.

Ordered 5 salads, a pizza roll up, fries, and rang up a $60.00 bill. They forgot the breadsticks, the roll up and the fries and gave us 'tude instead over the phone. Rude, rude, rude. Learn to give your customers respect. Avoid.

Nice, old pizza place. Nothing fancy, but customer has a chance to sit in or grab fresh takeout. Don't expect anything special, but the pizza is always good. Been going there for 15 years now.
