We all know the ice cream here is sinfully good, so I'm moving on to rate the service/location. I make decisions like a kid trying to choose between cookies or candy, so anyone who is patient enough to deal with five minutes of "uhmm" and three order changes is a great server in my book. As for the location--it's a little small, and sometimes the tables are pretty sticky, but luckily park benches aren't too far away.

Ah, Ben and Jerrys! Let me just start by saying i love, love, love Ben and Jerrys! The problem is that their cake quality is horrible. I ordered my best friend birthday cake. Didn't think anything of it, but as a pastry student, i know good quality. When i picked up the cake after work, i found that my cake was cracked and had numerous mistakes. I should have known when ordering it that something would go wrong, since the lady never took down my phone number, she simply swiped my card. What is disappointment. My best friends birthday cake was a disaster! I had so hoped it would be amazing considering that they supply such great quality ice cream, and smoothies.

This is a great location. Their ice cream pints are always on sale and the employees are really helpful and friendly. Also, it's a good place to take kids because they can draw on the tables; they're chalkboards! I usually get a brownie sundae and it's $6 flat, for a warm brownie, a big scoop of ice cream, whipped cream, hot fudge or caramel, and a topping. Hard to beat!

A little B&J's goes a long way in summer. Also open in Fall and Spring to cater to students itching for their ice cream hankering, it's not open on the winters. You can get ice cream cakes here, as well as popsicles and frozen chocolate-covered bananas and more... it's all the flavors you love and few more. A tasty treat. Every once in a while they offer a free small ice cream!

5 stars for the ice cream and usual service. 3 stars for the usual amount of Penn students that this place brings in. I normally don't have a problem with them as a whole, but here can usually bring in the worst of them. It was super amazing for Ben & Jerry's to organize an event like Free Cone Day. and the fact that it had people on hand collecting donations to go towards helping the end of poverty at every single store front was pretty unbelievable. But the fact that the majority of Penn kids in that very long line didn't even stop to give a dime before getting there free cone was pretty ghastly. True a lot of people did and walked away with a useful 10% card when they did. But that spot could have had so many more people doing it. But enough on that bad afterthought because the ice cream here is a serious vice. I do love me some Phish Food and Half Baked. and overall their good places to hit for your fix. I just think the one by Rittenhouse Square is the better one to go to for it.

Some Haikus: Free Ice Cream Cone Day: You closed early, left me out Alone and hungry. "Come back tomorrow, and I'll give you a small cone for $4.23." I smiled and left Dejected, still hungry, but-- Ten points for humor. Previously, I Stopped in for Beer and Donut Ice Cream. Delicious. Hooray for Simpsons- Themed treats and stores that sell them. (and free samples, too!)

It's nice to know that there's a Ben and Jerry's at least somewhere in Philly proper, better yet a few blocks away from where I work. I stopped in one day, overheated after a grueling 6 hours of passing out flyers on the street and in need of something cold, refreshing, and most likely chocolaty. I settled on the Half-Baked frozen yogurt, and I was quite satisfied with my choice. Having loved Phish Food ice cream since I was a youngin', it was hard to choose, but I figured I can always go back and try a new flavor each time. Live on Ben and Jerry's!

Ice cream! What you waiting for? I'm so proud that there's Ben and Jerrys store around philly. it's kinda far from my house tho since i live on south philly, but oh well? You could buy cheaper Ben and Jerrys from the sources! Highly recommended.

The guy working here on Wednesday evenings is really nice. My date and I really liked the choices available to us and the FREE SAMPLES are a nice touch, just like what they do at Capogiro. I love that! Oh, do NOT miss the combo of Americone Dream with Seven Layer Coconut Bar. You'll be a happy camper with this pairing. Now, if I could just order it with a caramel core... hmmmmm.....

Have you ever wondered why they have such complex flavors or combinations? Almost every ice cream of theirs has a "texture" to it, with bits and chunks of chocolate, cake, fudge etc.. I heard the story on NPR that Ben (co-founder of Ben and Jerry's) has almost no sense of smell (a condition called anosmia), so if Ben couldn't taste a flavor he added more ingredients to it making it richer! :) Pretty cool, huh!?! My current favorite is 'hazed and confused'! I got my free cone on their free cone day from this store, the line moved pretty quickly and friendly staff too. I have also tried several flavors here using Groupon deals. As the weather gets warmer, I am looking forward to more ice cream days :D Love Ben and Jerry's!!

The staff was so so when taking my daughter's order to where I did not want to order anything for myself or ask about the other flavors.

Amazeballs. Their smoothies, ice cream, pints... All so good. Try the Vermonster if you're with a large group of friends and are craving a lot of ice cream, and I challenge you to finish it ;) Also, definitely go during their free cone day :D

This Ben & Jerry's had the standard quality of ice creams / frozen yogurts that anyone should expect of the brand. I usually go in with many friends, and we were all pleased with the delicious frozen delights. However, the service here leans toward being terrible. Every time I go here, the people behind the counter are grouchy, grumpy, and look like they want to be doing anything but serving ice cream. It's fine if you feel that way, and I'm sorry, but don't project that onto your customers. Last time I came here, my friend asked for two scoops instead of one scoop of ice cream, and got death glares. It's really not that hard to add one more scoop! In addition, last time I came here, I thought I had left my wallet here, so I came back and told them. Their answer was essentially, "Oh, I'm sorry. That sucks." ...okay. No one is in the store. You couldn't care even just a bit more? Even the wallet so happens to be in the cashier box area? In summary, go here if you want your standard Ben & Jerry's, but don't expect the staff to make you as happy as the ice cream does.

As soon as you walk in you are welcomed with a pleasant smell of baked cookies and a friendly greeting. I ordered the Half Baked milkshake since it's my favorite Ben and Jerry's flavor. It was awesome having it in a shake form! I will return here when I am this area again.

The ice cream that Ben & Jerry's provides is an obvi 5 STARS. Getting it at an actual store and not in pints from a corner shop really makes a difference. It feels creamier...probably due to freshness and lack of the freezer burn that my fridge brutally attaches to any inhabitants. The service here is iffy. There were three people working and for whatever reason it probably took a full 20 minutes of waiting in line/paying. The line wasn't even that long..... Maybe they do it on purpose because after waiting I probably ordered double what I would have to begin with. Serious ice cream coma.

Not big on this place, kinda dirty and more expensive then the same Ben and Jerry's ice cream I can find around the corner in wawa. I even called before I came to make sure they had what I wanted, I was assured they had "plenty", of course I got there and they didn't have it. Thanks a lot! Two stars.

The first thing one notices upon entering this place is that it smells wonderful. Like all Ben & Jerry's, the ice cream is delicious and there tons of flavors & toppings from which to choose. The staff is generally fast & courteous, if a bit hipsterish. I've never had any complaints about my experiences here, but there's also never been anything so terrific as to merit five stars.

You know ice cream. I can't belive these places are all over Philly, I've never actually been in a Ben & Jerry's, we didnt have them in Michigan. It's great because now I can buy a carton of any flavor I want or cheaper than anywhere else right from the source. Of course the ice cream is fantastic my favi is Phish Food. But the employees are just blah and I stood around waiting to pay when there was nobody in front of me... yummy though, I will be back. Maybe today, as soon as I finish this yaaa

True there is nothing really different about this location. And the ice cream is unnecessarily expensive. But they give away free ice cream once a year and who can complain about that?

Since in theory, each scoop shop is selling the same product, the only thing to distinguish each from the other is staff, decor, and location. There's nothing outstanding about this one on 40th. Of course, lots of Penn students come anyway. The staff are amiable enough. Some people swear by Ben & Jerry's, but to me it's nothing special. Why buy a cup of ice cream for $5 when you can get a gallon for less at Fresh Grocer up the street? Sure, you don't look very cute in flip flops & a mini skirt lugging it home & eventually eating it all, but that's not the point, people. I work on top of this store & I like the smell of sugar cones wafting into my office. The store can be a little icky sometimes in terms of cleanliness, so 2 stars will do.
