My wife and I did a bit of a baby moon and stopped and stayed in the Poconos at the esteemed French Manor. However, it seemed, dining away from the hotel does not necessarily lend itself to the best cuisine. Napolitano's might be a place deserving of a visit from Restaurant: Impossible. Atmosphere: Gaudy. This place screamed overdone Italian. WIth the typical red and white checkered feel and the pergola with the fake vines running through it and slightly dim lights. To lend to the atmosphere was the effect of having it be a small town and since the front door opens right into the dining room, all eyes are immediately on you, as the new person entering the restaurant. This doesn't necessarily come from the wait staff, but the people there to eat. It was a bit unnerving...lol. The place was CROWDED. Now sometimes that's indicative of a restaurant that has great food, but in this case, I think it's indicative of popularity and lack of other choices in the immediate area that could give this place a run for its money. As for the music, it tended to be a lot of Frank Sinatra/Tony Bennett-style music and I can dig that. Food: Eh. It was just eh. The menu sported nothing original, or even rare, it was sort've boring. My wife recalls wondering why the menu had everything in quotes, for example; "Pasta". Is it not really pasta? The other that stuck out to me was "Eggplant dinners"...how funny, how odd. I remember wondering whether or not we should have left, but I felt it would have created a scene with everyone in the restaurant being keenly aware of everyone else. My wife had the baked ziti and I had pasta with white clam sauce. Both were extremely lackluster. Service: Because the restaurant had many people that evening, service took quite awhile, but the waitress we had was quite nice and very pleasant. She was definitely the best part of the experience. Overall: I would keep looking for another place to eat before going here for Italian food. There was the possibility of going to another place that had general New American cuisine that might have been a better option. Although, perhaps you're not as picky as I might be and your experience and tastebuds will treat you differently than mine. In either case, they do not take credit / debit cards, but they take cash, or...yes, even checks.

I've come to this restaurant probably once a year for the last seven or eight years. Sometimes a few times a year. As one reviewer mentions - there aren't many options in the surrounding area so the bar isn't terribly high to make this an attractive option. I own a vacation home in the area and this is usually our dinner out option. The dining room is small and it can get quite crowded. But the food is incredibly consistent and if you like cheesy, pasta-this place is better than most. The portions are very large and though not cheap, are fairly priced. Pretty salty and very cheesy, but really tasty. It's also a BYOB which is fantastic. If you ask nice, they'll even pour you a small glass of red wine - on the house. This isn't the best Italian you'll ever eat, but it's easily better than most and it's all prepared in house and fresh. And the owner always comes around to say hello. It's a great local place and a warm place to come in from the cold!

After years of saying "Someday we should try this...", we finally did. The owner was so welcoming even though we came 15 minutes before closing time. Our server was attentive & our food was delicious. We had left overs for lunch the next day as the portions are hearty. I highly recommend.

The pizza is always good! It's my family's number one choice for pizza on a laid back Friday night.

The fact that this place has closed is an utter tragedy. It was one of the few good restaurants in the area and we are very, very sad to see it go. Come back John!! We need you!!!

Overall I recommend this place- probably one of the better restaurants in the area. (Better than the nearby john's Italian restaurant) Very small but nice atmosphere, and the waitstaff is extremely friendly and attentive! The cook came out at the end and talked to us; he was incredibly friendly and it really topped off the meal nicely!

I really like this place. I DO like the small, cozy set up the restaurant has. It's small town charming. This place is BYOB-- WHICH I LOVE!!! The food here is good. I've gotten many of the seafood like items-- all were good. There was a clams or maybe muscles in a white wine/scampi type sauce that was to die for! My bf got a large 3 shell ricotta item. I tasted that and it was good, too, but not MY personal first choice to order. I've gotten take out pizza here, too. They take a while when they are busy, but the food still tastes good and the staff is always nice.

Love me some Napolitano's! This place is great because of the people and the food. If you're in the area, stop by, bring a bottle of wine, and if you're lucky, you'll get the back booth!

Cute little place, simple, unassuming. Only open Thursday night thru Sunday nights. I had the veal Marsala, and it was superb! Eaten lots of this dish in many places. Hands down, this was the best, and we're "spoiled New Yorkers!". My husband had the stuffed eggplant "boat" and he thought it good. I thought the gravy (marinara sauce) was a bit weak, but good nonetheless. The food is very fresh, and made to order. Can't beat that! We'll be back, but bring cash, as no credit cards are accepted.

Food is worth it because the guy actually makes his food. Simple Italian, done well. Which is hard to find anywhere. I frequent Washington D.C./Annapolis and many claim to do Italian, but most of it is overpriced for simple dishes with a strong cheese or an exotic ingredient. My wife and I are not fooled by culinary gimmicks. Other reviewers say "Big Portions", as though this is a good thing. The portions are appropriate to the dish. Call ahead for the night's menu then bring your own wine. The atmosphere is more like a real Italian restaurant than what you typically will find stateside. Intimate, family-oriented with a real character in the kitchen. Make your pasta, make your sauces, and cook with finesse. You'll get these here.

I can't praise Napolitano's Restaurant enough. The pizza is always awesome. The food - oh, the food! You walk in the door and you're greeted with the wonderful aroma of Italian cooking. No matter what you order, it will be GOOD. The decor is quaint... The dining room is very small and space is limited. The parking lot also is small. It's best to have reservations because it is a popular place. BYOB - no liquor license.

The Pocono Mountain area is known for the beauty, mountains, lakes, camping, so how wonderful to find this taste of truly Italy in a very small town. The restaurant is deceiving from the outside because it looks like it could have been a drug store in another life. Once inside, the welcoming aroma of garlic, the smiles of the staff, and the undertones of old time Italian music just draws you in. My husband and I have dined here numerous times and we prefer a booth, ( asdorned with plastic ivy and flowers and lanterns ) but we have also enjoyed our meal 'in the gazebo' ( which is part of the interior of the restaurant which is definitely small ( I prefer the word cozy but it is small...) which is so adorable it cant even be scored on the cozy factor...:) Bring your own cocktails, your favourite bottle of wine and glasses and a bottle opener will be provided. I have to sheepishly admit Ive only ever ordered my favourite dish: Spaghetti with meat sauce with 2 meatballs on the side. Period. I LOVE this and have eaten this same meal at the famous Patsy's in Manhattan and Napolitano's has this dish hands down. My husband who is always my dining partner when Im writing a f=review, always gets 'the Special' and has never been disappointed. It is not only the food, it is the staff, the cozy simple warm atmosphere, the way the chef comes around to your table welcoming you and making sure you are enjoying your meal. It is always a wonderful experience, not just a meal. One note: Cash only. No credit cards. Enjoy a great meal and a great time. One of my favourite all time restaurants in the WORLD and if you read my reviews, I get around...:) Thank you Chef John and staff.

This is the perfect place to dine if you want good Italian food, without driving to the city by! Nappy's is a little slice of Italy, in the heart of Newfoundland! Prices are reasonable and portions are big! I love the Eggplant Rollitini and the Chicken Marsala is out of this world!!! Also it is BYOB! Love it :)
