Reminded me of a college bar. Horrible music, frat-boy vibe, you know the deal. This is the favorite local bar of friends of friends who we were visiting, but I'm not sure why. Apparently each couple is always trying to get the other to patronize "their" bar. Bar wars! Fun. But this place wasn't, really. Oh and did I mention the woman in the cutout dress with glistening oiled-up legs? Maybe there's a pole in the joint I'm not aware of, or maybe she was just a free agent open for business. In a word: ew.

Waaay back in the day this was a great place, now it is a wannabe collage bar. The décor is early surplus army tent; the bathrooms are a study center for the CDC. If you are 21 and want to listen to bad cover bands and drink till you puke, this is your place! If you are 25 or older or have a job, media has better bars.

What a terrible experience. Brought a wedding party in there last night and the bouncer wouldn't let the last member of the party in, because "it is after midnight." We had 18 people spending a lot of money in that place! I would never recommend this place. What a joke!

This is my all time favorite hometown bar. If your up for somewhere trendy, nifty neat-o, in the Philly burbs then this place is for you. I'm there nearly every Monday for open mike night, aka, MakeOut Monday, always with a smile, always surrounded by good times, great friends, cheap brews, and happy music. Don't be detoured because of the nickname. It's just something we locals came up with. Silly, silly us. It's not an infested dirty hole. Not by any means. It's just a great local crowd shuffling in for nightly entertainment and old pals. Think Cheers, without the Norm. Monday's are the night to head out for, but there is usually something happening every night. especially during the summer when the deck is open. The deck really makes this Media lounge a happening dwelling.

I have to say I do really enjoy going here! It reminds me of the glory days of bar hopping when we were 21. Just wish I went here when i was 21. It reminds me of a frat house. The DJ is spinning while everyone is dancing in what seems like an attic of a frat house. There are 3 bars. The rooftop bar is the best as part of it is covered. Usually they are showing something on the adjacent building with the projection screen. I only drink from the bottles here because really how clean are the taps. It really gets going around 1 when most of the bars on the street call last call. The ladies are dancing while me and my boys are sitting back laughing at how funny this place really is. Thats why I think I like it so much. The entertainment is priceless. Especially the older crowd trying to hit on the younger crowd. The rooftop is great in the summer and the prices can't be beat for Media. Just stay away from the draft beer,

This place is horrible. The owner(s?), managers and bartenders are all terrible and rude. The prices are ridiculous for what this bar really is. Their only saving grace is that you no longer can smoke in here. Sticky floors, definitely a "bro bar" like a previous Yelper described. It's just plain gross in here. I would only suggest this to you if it's your 21st birthday and you are just dying to visit all the bars on State Street. Ew.

Yikes, this has bro bar written all over it. Here is a place were a lot of man children go to flex their muscle to impress a bunch of brain-dead bimbos. The place is kinda expensive (3.50 for PBR?!) and really isn't the cleanest looking space. I think I will avoid this like the plague and you should too, unless you like seeing a bunch of frat morons in their natural habitat.

You know its bad that I couldn't even remember what this place was just by the name. Came here as part of a bachelorette party bar crawl in Media. Just as my one friend was explaining how all of Delco came here, the bathroom door opened and out walked a guy I went to high school with. Its a normal bar that I think in the summer has potential but since it was winter I didn't experience it. All I got was a blue moon and it was between $4 and $5

Jersey shore type stop in PA. Grimy, gross and just dirty inside and on the deck. However, there is an extended area outside beyond the deck that is pretty decent in the summer. They have a huge projection going onto the opposite brick building and show sporting events, pretty cool. Don't expect anything except drinking and you won't be disappointed.

Ok, so this is a dive. I've been here once after a stressful day of grad school. Those plastic cups of Miller Lite and bar popcorn were oddly comforting. Wine is not an option on the menu at this kind of place. The bartenders were not familiar with any of the mixed drinks my friends requested. It appeared that opening bottles of beer and pouring drafts was the extent of the talent. Wasn't crowded at all. However it was at 4 in the afternoon, and that clearly is not when this type of place is most populated. I think we imposed on the afternoon "regulars." Oops.

Yea not the greatest but also its not the worst. Stayed out mostly on the deck with friends. Cool thing about it we were watching the Olympics from a projector screen on a side wall. Bar area outside was packed, they had 2 bartenders just hustling trying to keep up with demands. There were plenty of tables and chairs out there, but they crammed it in there where it was an obstacle just to get to one side. Gotta love that outside smell. Mmmm what could it be you ask? I'll tell ya Yelpers, its the dumpsters that bring an aroma up the steps and onto the patio The inside looked dead and dark, god forbid the lights do go on you might see something that you might not like. Hmmm next time I'll bring a black light in there ,and see whats going on with the floors and walls. Bathroom situation, well if the one bathroom wasn't jammed up you start to see that line forms. We all know the line with people doing the "pee-pee dance". Not to worry though, they had a Johnny on the Spot outside. Thing is you're rolling the dice if you had a little too much drink and walk down those wooden steps. Steep and the boards aren't that wide. Going back there? Well lets say if there are different option on the table I'm going with Option B. Also ,if you are a beer drinker I say go with bottles. Something about those taps , they look like they need to be steam cleaned and sanitized.

I read these reviews and do not understand what these people where looking for at all. This place has the most incredible deck, a great beer selection, awesome service especially to the loyal customers. Ask for Timmy, he is one of the best Bartenders around friendly and fast. The bar food comes out fast and quick, but it is Bar Food. It seems to me like the people reviewing this place must of been looking for something else. It is one of the only places left with real original music. For bands to get a start and people who truly want musicians not some DJ spinning. Sporting events are huge, they have a projection TV that is like 50 feet wide..

Bartender Jeremy makes the best drinks. Ask for the red deaths. Most professional bartender in town.

Jocylns is a great place to hear live music and there's always a special. Thursday's $10 bucks of domestics (5 beers) is my favorite. It's the only place in media that has a deck and super friendly bartenders!!!

Every time I go to this bar I ask myself, why? This bar is only good for one thing young twenty year olds looking for some meat to take home. Its unfortunate because this bar/property has the potential to be something much better.

Would you like to catch a communicable disease? Do you enjoy bathrooms that remind you of the third world? Is your idea of a good time include being herded like cattle in a dirty 2nd floor pen? Awesome! Come to Joclyn's where all your dreams will come true. Fucking. Dump.

Joclyn's doesn't gussy it up, it's a dirty little hole of a bar that occasionally plays live music and DJ's. It's frequented by pop collars, frat kids, kids looking for trouble and tons and tons of hot chicks. If you can get past the uncomfortable bar chairs, full price drinks, smoking and two co-ed bathrooms then this is a great place to pick-up girls. FRIDAY and SATURDAY (don't bother any other day of the week). I have some young friends who like to come here and just drink Miller Light and do shots till they fall off their chairs. I like to join them and re-live my reckless youth, fire up a cigar and pretend I've got 30 less IQ points. Old school fun. Just don't touch anything, I don't think they've cleaned in several years. They DO have an outdoor deck, where you can escape some of the ear splitting music, which is a very nice place to corner a girl and make out or just hang out with your bros. *No food, but they allow you to bring in take-out. We once had pizza delivered directly to the bar.

For some reason, people get dressed up to go to this place. Really? It's media, it's a shitty wannabe college bar that smells like too much old spice and paris hilton perfume. The only upside to the entire place is the outdoor deck which, on a hot day, smells like roasting garbage. So if you just got dumped and feel the urge to get plastered and try to bang some girl who used to be hot in high school....joclyn's is your place. Otherwise, leave this place to the 21 year olds and their love of that Creed cd that they refuse to take out of the jukebox.

  • Chris O.

Joclyn's is at the crossroads of older people who want to reclaim their youth, and the youth who can't predict that they will grow into the former crowd. That mix makes for fascinating people watching. Unfortunately, it has to happen in a large bar, where your snickering is most likely drowned out by the jukebox. I will say sometimes when visiting this establishment, I will see people dressed entirely too nice for the atmosphere, and wonder why they aren't downstairs at Sligo, or down the street at Quotations. The inside of Joclyn's is bare bones, boasting a bar against the wall and a largish room where bands play. Some cover bands, some original, Jocylns unfortunately, is probably the best place for live music (if rock is your thing) in Media. So perhaps that draws the kids. Jocyln's also has a rather large outdoor deck with a projection television that shows sports and whatnot. If you can get a seat at the Walmart plastic tables and chairs, it can be an enjoyable evening. If it's hot and muggy though, and the wind is blowing a certain direction, you may have to put up with the slight aroma of sitting garbage, as the dumpster is never too far away from the deck. Joclyn's always feels like a good place to go for a beer until you get there, when you realize why you stopped going. Through the years I've been there when they served food, I've been there when they haven't served food, and I've been there when they've had a grill for hotdogs and hamburgers on the deck. So I have no idea what they offer now.
