If you know New Jersey delis and bagel places, this is a transplant from Clifton, NJ (north jersey, right outside NYC). Its every bit as good as the ones up there. Fresh everything, coffee is good, and they have TAYLOR HAM!!!! Not the fake crap, the real deal. If you don't know Taylor Ham, you don't know good bagels. Yes, that was a period. And they do them well done like they should be when you ask. ENJOY!

Owner tried charging me $6.98 for an item that is $4.53 on their menu. When I asked nicely about the price (especially since it was more than $2 difference) the owner flipped out started cutting off anything I said by saying prices are subject to change. I stayed nice throughout and was treated like garbage which is the aggravating part. He tried pulling a fast one on a 20 year old thinking I wouldn't notice the huge difference. Ladies were nice kind of had a "I cant believe that just happened" look on their face but would NOT recommend this place.

Hands down the best bagels in a shop that's not in NY. I love there breakfast sandwiches and the coffee is good too. They've won plenty of "Simply The Best" awards.

Fantastic bagel shop. I have lived near this place my whole life and not until recently did I go in and try them. Fantastic! I go mainly for breakfast but it sure does beat fast food. The bagels are fantastic. I normally get the bacon egg and cheese on a bagel. The flavor of the bagel varies but is always fantastic. Very friendly atmosphere as well. I might become a regular!

best bagel and schmear in the area. I have been on bagel quest for over 10 years. Ressler's has the best bagels in the tri-state area. Better than the local supermarket. The bagels are always fresh, the service is above par. I have been a local customer daily and have always received excellent service

While the bagels are ok..... The eating area and bathrooms are quite dirty. The floor needs a good thorough cleaning, with a good dusting of the windows and ledges. Makes me wonder what it looks like in the back? While it says only one $ sign, I beg to differ. For three bagels and cream cheese and 2 drinks it was almost 20 bucks. I should have just taken my kids to giant and brought some bagels home.

I am a native New Yorker (upstate), so I know my bagels. These are darn good; but a couple of personal preferences and a 'miss' on service prevents me from fully endorsing Ressler's as a great bagel eatery. Food: Ressler's is the first bagel joint that I have been to that puts the toppings on both sides of the bagel. That's right! If you want a onion bagel (my favorite) your getting those crispy, delectable little onion bits on both sides of your bagel! Not only is that the first time that I have seen this; but I do not know if I can go back to not having a bagel that way!? Outside of that, the bagel was not entirely that ground-breakingly special. It had good flavor, it had good texture, it was adequate in size; but for me, it was lacking something. They had an excellent selection of bagels ranging from your traditional ones like onion and garlic, to some less mainstream ones like pumpernickel and poppy-seed. For me, the bagel was a little bit bread-y. I like my bagels a little softer, and a little doughier to get a real nice chew to them. That probably doesn't make sense to anyone who hasn't had a wide diversity of bagels. Actually, for me, and even though they are a chain -- Einstein Bagels is one of the best. The other stand-out item for me was the cream cheese. This is obviously homemade, and it is delicious. Despite being delicious though, I like a firmer cream cheese on my bagel. This was a little too 'whipped', and the consistency of it feel apart a bit when slapped-on the hot bagel. For me, Philadelphia cream cheese is the standard, so I usually get my bagels, and bring them home to toast and put Philadelphia cream cheese on them. Food: 4 / 5 Service: This is where it is going to hurt. I have been here on three different occasions, and there is a miserable woman who works here. Given that this is a family-run business, I would be willing to bet that she has a major stake in the ownership of the place; because I cannot imagine anyone employing her with that attitude if she were just a regular employee. Time to rant: This is your business! If you didn't want to be in the service industry making bagels and serving customers, you shouldn't have opened a bagel shop! Come to work, put on a forced-smile like nearly everyone else in the service industry, pretend to give a damn about your customers, and show that you give a damn. After all, we are paying your paycheck! Service: 2 / 5 Atmosphere: This is a hopping-joint. The line is almost always running-out-the-door, and the dining area is always packed. It is a small interior with limited seating, and it is always bustling -- too much so for me. This is why I always get my bagels to go. It seems pretty cleanly, but the atmosphere is very plain. Yes, it is a bagel place that serves breakfast and sandwiches and such; but that doesn't mean that they can't decorate it a little bit better. Also, with the extremely poor attitude of some of the employees -- especially the one, it doesn't feel as home-y or like my business is really that appreciated. Atmosphere: 2 / 5 Price: This is where Ressler's gets a bonus point, their prices are extremely reasonable, and well-beyond fair. $1 for a bagel. That is a really good price for a good quality product. Price: 4 / 5 Final Thoughts: People who shouldn't be in the service industry seem to be regularly sprinkled throughout every establishment, of all types from electronics stores like Best Buy, to mom & pop bagel eateries like Ressler's. I have less of a problem with workers who evidently care very little for their job at a place like Best Buy vs. a place like Ressler's that is family-owned and operated. If I owned a business, and I was the business owner, if I didn't really want to be there, you would never know it because I would at least be pleasant and personable to my customers. I don't like spending my money at places where I do not feel welcome, and Ressler's teeters on that. If they didn't serve a good quality bagel, I would most definitely take my business elsewhere.

Average bagels and not very pleasant staff. We went here for a quick breakfast one Saturday morning before heading to Hershey Park. We arrived here at the perfect time because there was a line to the door after we ordered. The place isn't very big, but it could fit approximately 15 people with the tables they have. They have an average selection when it comes to bagels (plain, garlic, onion, poppy, everything, etc.) and cream cheese. I ended up getting an Everything Bagel with plain cream cheese. Beware that their everything bagels have salt on them, which made the bagel way too salty for me. Although, my mom, who ordered a Plain Bagel, thought hers was too salty as well so maybe their bagels are naturally salty. Also, She had raspberry nut cream cheese with her bagel, which was very tasty and fresh. The bagels were good overall with a soft yet chewy texture and they gave plenty of cream cheese. The prices were average: about $2 for a bagel with cream cheese and $2 for a coffee. The staff wasn't very friendly. As my family stood there deciding what to order they seemed impatient and disinterested. It seemed like the one woman was being trained, which could have had something to do with it, but would it take that much effort to smile or greet us at the least? The same went for when we were ordering. Overall, not a bad option for a bagel but I would be curious as to what else is in the area.

I've been going to Ressler's for nearly 10 years. Over those years I've slowly watched this business change from one that I loved to support to one that I don't feel like using at all. The reason being price hikes, reduced quality and negative attitudes. The customer service has never been phenomenal, but in the last few years I've noticed a dramatic shift where staff, especially the owners, are extremely terse and grouchy to customers. The condescending eye rolls and comments when you ask for simple things like a water cup for your toddler or ask for a bagel to be toasted are unacceptable. I get that we all have bad days, but these attitudes are now the norm from the owners. If I'm dropping $40 on breakfast for my family and I politely let you know your coffee is out before I've had a drop, I don't need to be told to "sit down, it'll be done when it's done". A shame. The bagels and sandwiches are delicious, but portions have shrunk as well with prices going up.

  • Tyler R.

Very rude and condescending staff. I was also over-charged for an order on multiple occasions. I tried calling to speak with the owner and whoever answered the phone refused to let me speak with him. Don't waste your time with these people, they don't appreciate your business.

While the "ordering process" could be better, the food is amazing. There's menu items in like 6 different places...along with pickup items like chips and drinks and a salad/bakery case. So it's hard to figure out what you want to order. But once you order, they do a great job of expediting your food ... Well organized behind the counter if not out front. The bagels are simply amazing. They are soft and chewy. Filled with flavor and always spot on. The sandwiches are prepared well and plentiful. The sides are nothing special, but a nice touch paired with a lunch sandwich. The coffee is nothing special and is often empty. Basic sugar, S&l, milk and 1/2&12. Nothing else.

Ate here today for breakfast. The bagels were fantastic. I think the owner was the one who took my order and he was also really great. When I saw them making my bagels, I noticed they weren't toasting it so I asked them to make sure they toast all the bagels. after I left I check the bag and the guy did not toast the bagels. I had to go back and ask him to toast it again. Instead of rushing me to the front of the line, he finished everything he was working on before fixing my order. And he did not apologize. They have great bagels just make sure you demand that they toast them. Overall atmosphere was not great so I took my bagels next-door to a smoothie place that also sells breakfast.

Toasted onion bagel with lox spread is a thing of beauty and tastes that way as well. These bagels are as good as you would get in New York and in convenient location with friendly service. Like all the different spreads available as well.

Stopped in for a bagel sandwich, the bacon egg and cheese on everything was delicious. Nice little shop to sit down and enjoy a cup and bagel. You could tell the place is popular because most varieties were sold out by the time we got there, plus it was pretty busy. Good spot.

  • Ethan L.

I've only had the bagels here, they are absolutely delicious, and the cream cheese is great too. Make sure to get there early as they sell out of the more popular bagels on busy days. Definitely a great spot with very friendly service.

A regular stop on my way into work right down the road. This place always has a great selection of muffins and bagels to grab for the people I work with. They make an awesome blueberry, and multi-grain. Also, even though I haven't actually eaten it, the egg and cheese stuff looks tasty that someday I'll need to give a shot.

The bagels are fresh and the selection is good (if you get there early). I highly recommend the lox-spread (the one with the salmon mixed in with the cream cheese). They also have lox on a bagel, but it's very expensive and is honestly too much smoked salmon (they could cut the portion in half and lower the price). I'm a fan of the everything bagel, and the onion bagels are super onion-y (which is a good thing!). They have breakfast sandwiches as well as boars head meats (that you can also buy by the pound). I've never had lunch there, so I can't comment on the lunch offerings other than that they have sandwiches and salads. I agree that the service isn't great, but the bagels are so good that it doesn't matter!!!

  • Heather K.

I didn't get a bagel, but I can tell you the muffins are delicious! Very moist and very filling. My cinnamon muffin was bursting with flavor, and it was just sweet enough. The only thing I can say I didn't like was that the soda from the fountain was a bit on the flat side. But hey, I can get a coke anywhere.

The first thing I did when I came in early morning was warn them about my food allergy. I said "I have a food allergy to milk, is there anything you would suggest that would be safe?" And they said "Pretty much everything is milk free except for the cream cheese and the cheese." Woohoo! So I got excited and started looking at the breakfast sandwiches on the menu. They studiously ignored me for a good five minutes until asking if I had decided yet. When I said "Can I have [breakfast sandwich] on a plain bagel with no cheese?" They started preparing it, but the one clerk said "Everything is cooked in butter, I hope that's ok." I asked if they had cooking oil, and they said no. Really? You just have something that is perishable and more expensive AND... cooking beef products in milk? For shame; and you call yourself a bagel shop? So by this point I was already STARVING, since I had been there for ten minutes and I was already hungry when I came in... and they were both looking like they wanted to kick me out of the store for "wasting their time" (they acted like that the whole time though, not sure why I was surprised). So I knew I needed to make a decision. And fast. Did I mention that I was starving, and just about to stomp off from the treatment/unavailability of FOOD? So I just said "Fine. Plain bagel. Nothing on it. Plain." And that's what I had to eat, since all the spreads are cream cheese based. It was ok, but it was plain. It would have been nice to have some meat on my bagel, but why should I expect to be able to eat food in a restaurant with a food allergy?? Silly me. I should know better.

Best bagels in Central PA. When I'm visiting, I'm certain to return to California with every possible empty nook of my luggage stuffed full with everything bagels. I haven't tried the sandwiches or other deli/cafe type items they offer, but the bagels are top notch. A great local joint.

Although there's a limited selection (and I didn't get up early enough today!), the bagels were fresh and tasty. I had one of the garlic bagels which was full of flavor. The staff was friendly and it felt like a nice local shop that you can't get in other places like Panera, etc. Will definitely be back.

    (4)
  • Emily F.

The bagels have gone downhill and the service has never been great. The only thing they have going on is Boar's Head meats. Sandwiches are just okay, not as good as they once were. I had a turkey sandwich with a pesto bagel and there wasn't a lot of pesto flavor. Their more basic bagels have always been decent - plain, onion, salt, etc. - seem to be better than more 'gourmet' flavors.

Although there's a limited selection (and I didn't get up early enough today!), the bagels were fresh and tasty. I had one of the garlic bagels which was full of flavor. The staff was friendly and it felt like a nice local shop that you can't get in other places like Panera, etc. Will definitely be back.
