Went here with a group while visiting in the area. We thought the food and service was OK but not exceptional. The food was fresh but a little lacking in flavor or individuality that would make it stand out compared to the majority of similar places. Our service was very good made even better due to the lack of other customers. One outstanding point was the use of real and not disposable dishes and utensils.

The Chef Wong's I remember is long gone! I got sesame chicken take out and it was awful! Horribly dry and what little sauce existed was absorbed by those styrofoam noodles. I won't be back.

Very poor customer service. Rude delivery driver. Food quality was low and we felt nauseous after we ate. Will NOT return!

Okay, Mr Wongs isn't much to look at but as Chinese restaurants go the food is tasty and nicely presented. The lunch buffet will fill you up for not a lot of money and dinner offers enough for left overs.

Came for the buffet on the weekend. Food was dried out and pans were empty. They had no intention of refilling anything. Staff was rude and did not even refill our water. I will not go back again.

Came for lunch buffet at 1pm. Literally nothing left in pans...still sitting here at 145 and they are yet to bring anything out....

Poor staff hygiene. Potentially hazard food not handled properly. Dine here at your own risk!

Grabbed lunch here a few weeks ago and loved the sesame chicken. Extra crispy! Good service, will try again for carry out.

This was my favorite Chinese Restaurant in a long time. The peanutbutter fried wontons - oh so good. Can't find anywhere else. They do have a buffet, but I would recommend getting take-out. NEVER had a disappointing meal. Sweet and Sour Chicken - great breading - never soggy. Mongolian Beef - awesome flavor and dish. I really am surprised by the negative reviews below. I am picky about my Chinese food, and this was my favorite place.

We did not order off the menu but decided to try the buffet. There were the typical buffet dishes, nothing inventive and actually almost everything looked and tasted the same. The food was barely room temperature, and quite bland. The green beans were the best thing we ate, but they too were not hot. We would not bother to go again. When I mentioned to the waitress that the food was not hot, she assured me that it was. When we paid the bill, we also told, the cashier that the food was not hot, and barely got a response, but to be fair, the phone was ringing, We paid and left. At least it was cheap.

I live a block or so away from chef wongs yet ill go the distance for good food. I had tried chef wongs years ago and I remember thinking it was the worst Chinese I'd ever had. Unfortunately today I was feeling a little lazy and a little too hungry so i caved and ordered CW takeout again... bad choice. The pork fried rice was colorless and gross, chicken n broccoli tasteless, well it was just a fail.. again. Do yourself a favor and drive the4 miles or so down to Ho Wah in lemoyne, you won't be disappointed!

Feels more like a fast food chinese place. The menu has general tsao's chicken on the menu. The dish I liked was the fried eggplant and chicken. The other dishes ordered such as pineapple chicken and wanton soup seemed pretty basic take out stuff.

The only place that has Hunan Steak (not Hunan beef, different) and I love it. I used to go to their harrisburg store but they since closed their doors. Its out of my way now to get to Mechanicsburg but still try to get to chef wongs mechanicsburg now and then. Wonton soup is also awesome as well as their chow mein and everything else. Hong Kong Ruby's is my favorite place on the East Shore, I just wish they made Hunan Steak.

Stumbled to Chef Wong's for lunch on a Monday afternoon at 12:45 PM. The buffet was open and there were quite a few people still eating. More guests arrived for lunch after us. There was a big spread with 3 kinds of soup and lots of appetizers and main courses. Alas, there was hardly any food left as far as quantity. The only items available in plenty were soups and white rice! There were 10 new people to feed within 5 minutes of us arriving, but food was not enough for us all. The hostess would scrape all the food together for each item and then go sit in a booth. Multiple people, including us, checked with her if more food was coming our way. And every time she would duck her head in the kitchen and speak to someone in Mandarin of Cantonese. No food ever came out other than fresh white rice! After our second request, she asked us what we wanted? Not sounding rude, we asked for the shrimp dish. When another guest asked for the same dish, she disappeared for a few minutes and came out with a hastily prepared shrimp dish. As expected, all the hungry guests attacked the dish to get some on their plate. We were lucky to get some too! But the dish was half cooked and I could taste the raw flour in the sauce! Rest of the food was A-Okay at best... Don't know if this was a one off but I am not going there to confirm this :(

I've been going here for years and the food has been consistently excellent. In my opinion, this place has the best General Tso's chicken in the Harrisburg area.

Been going here since I was a teenager, and many many MANY years later, I still love this place. The lunch buffet's the real deal, and the restaurant is super-clean and tidy. I dream of the crispy eggplant and hot and sour soup. This is one of the first places I hit up when I'm visiting from New York. I love you, Chef Wong's.

!!!!!!!!Nasty!!!!!!!!! Went on Sunday looked at the buffet and it didn't look good so I ordered off the menu. I order a egg roll to start, I watch the waitress go over to the buffet & take one off and bring it to me, I bit into it and it was cold! I told her I would like a new one from the kitchen & she said she would have them make one. I then watch her walk away with it, stick her finger in it and then take a bite out of it & sat down to eat it, the one I just took a bite out of!! I was so grossed out that I canceled my order & walked out! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Came here a year ago and thought this Chinese place was the best in town. But now the food quality is not that great, the take out portions are small, and the price or the portions are too high!

One of the few places in Camp Hill that actually deliver. This is a decent fare for a working lunch. The hot and sour soup is probably what I'd choose any day, every day!

Meh about cuts it. In the last 3 times weve gotten this place, the food seems to have reverted back to .crappy, frozen chinese stuff you can literally find in any strip mall across the USA. Don't recommend it, you will have a much better experience at any of the local Thai places...

Based on other reviews I tried this place twice. I traveled a little further from my home than normal in search of good Chinese food. The wonton soup is like dishwater although the wontons were good. The chicken with mixed vegetables is edible but certainly not worth another trip. It isn't the worst food I've eaten but I'll pass on going there again.

Thirty seconds down the road from where I work we every now and then get take out from here. I have been known to stop in for dinner on occasion, however I have noticed it is mostly empty whenever I am there. Don't know how they are still alive and well after so many years, but they are. Food here is made pretty well, Their orange beef / chicken is not too overpowering and has a good tasting sauce with it. Their shrimp fried rice and lo mein dishes are also tasty. Servers are attentive and quick to refill the water whenever we dine in. Prices are good and service is pretty quick.

Not that great even for a resto that serves American "Chinese" food. Not a single authentic Chinese dish on the menu. China Tea House is way better and has authentic dishes if you want that.

Not for kids. This is a nice date type restaurant. They have linens on the table, so it's not a great place to take small children. I had mine their and they did ok, but I was worried all day. The food was ok. I've had better. I'd rather go to Hong Kong Ruby's for a meal though. Better food.

Not sure why the negative reviews. I've been a loyal patron of this restaurant for over 10 years and they have been very consistent in their excellent food quality. I LOVE their hot & sour soup and their sesame chicken. All other Chinese restaurants in the Harrisburg area can't compare to Chef Wong's.

By far, the best Chinese restaurant in the area. I eat here at least once or twice a month. I typically get the same thing when ordering off the menu- Wonton soup, dumplings, and chicken and broccoli. I have tried tons of other Chinese restaurants, none of them come close. The lunch buffet has various options, but nothing like a regular buffet. But still, pretty cheap and the food is delicious. Bonus, if you live close by, they deliver! I don't think any other Chinese restaurant in the area even comes close to this place. Service is fast and efficient. I definitely recommend this place if you like good Chinese food.

OK I love this place and the only reason I am not giving it a 5 is because I don't think I have tried enough of the menu to rate the entire place. However this place has the best peking duck I have found outside NYC or China Town in Philadelphia. The duck here is perfect. This place is a bit of a drive for us so we don't make the trip too often unless we are in the mood for the duck. The duck is juicy, with a crisp skin. The sauce is perfect as well. Always served with fresh scallions. Eating in is always a pleasure here. Warn green tea, and friendly service. The other things I have tried are some soups and sides all has been exceptionally good. I just tent to always get the duck when eating here. If you are in the area, or love peking duck, I recommend giving it a try. You won't regret it.

Okay, I used to live in Mechanicsburg, PA. Yes, I'm Asian but not Chinese, so... Anyway, Chef Wong's was one of my absolute favorite Chinese restaurants for the reasons I'll list below: 1) They deliver within a few mile radius. 2) Their chicken & broccoli is bangin'--sweet, gingery, garlicky, with white meat chicken and fresh broccoli. 3) During lunch hours they have a buffet, which is actually pretty good. 4) Staff are friendly. 5) New York style Chinese = sweetness. Living in Vegas now, I have a ton of different Asian restaurants to try but, Chef Wong's will always have a special place with me.

I don't think I will ever come back here ever. I visit this place about 4-5 month ago. This was the time when I just recently moved here from California. As a Chinese, I thought I would never eat Chinese food ever again; however, I happen to pass by this place. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. The first sign of trouble is when the waiter asked me if I wanted the menu or buffet. I am from California and no Chinese Restaurant that I know of serves both, especially when the restaurant's name does not suggest it is a buffet. Since my friend and I already commited ourselves into having dinner in this establishment, I simply ignored it and asked for the menu to dine in. Unfortunately, I cannot remember all the dishes. However, I do know they were all bad. They did not taste great and lack presentation. The menu was short too. I am used to Chinese restaurants having a long list of choices, especially in the vegetable side. I do not think I saw a single vegetable dish at all, other than the beef broccoli type. Nor did I see common Chinese style dishes that you should 99% find in a CHINESE Restaurant. All I can remember is the terrible duck. The main reason this gets a 1 and not a 2 is because of the Peking Duck. It was super dry. I was surprise they gave me a wrap instead of the white buns I am used to eating in California. I later found out there are different styles in Chinese in which they use either wraps or buns. Anyways, even so, the duck was very dry and the skin was very thin and dry as well. I had to keep drinking tea because it was so dry. My experience may have been bad luck since others have rated it so high. Unfortunately, I don't think I am willing to gamble again here.

Bad bad. General Tsos chicken was hard as a brick, tasted like cat liver. Told waitress, she still left it on bill. Chef Wong sucks Wang.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
