Had the cheese Rav and the spicy sausage...Both were excellent and we will go back for sure. Don't understand the complaints about the sauce...some people must like canned sauce.

This place has a decent amount of people for the Sunday brunch. There is a variety of brunch items ranging from meats to veges to made to order pasta bar and omlet section. It a a nice ambiance watching the planes come and go while eating. The deserts are tastey and vary by day. Overall, this place is better than the surrounding area upscale restaurants, but if you want a more sophisticated mix of flavors, I would recommend a trip to Pittsburgh.

I came here last year with my aging parents for the Christmas buffet and it was ok, no great shakes. The prime rib however was wonderful. We revisited today for the Thanksgiving buffet. It was pretty awful. The turkey was turkey loaf, not a true carved turkey, and paired with the stuffing, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole, it tasted just like a Swanson's frozen microwaved dinner. The pumpkin pie was, for lack of better description, almost watery and tasted like zucchini. Horrible. We were seated right next to a waiters station where the staff cussed, wrapped silverware, and yelled to each other OVER OUR TABLE to "get a high chair for table 17". We probably would have had better ambiance sitting on the tarmac of the Arnold Palmer airport right outside the window. It certainly didn't feel like a holiday.

Airport resturant, right. The place is step up with Frank Sinatra in mind. The food was really pretty good though a little pricey. I had the special which was a ravioli dish, which was really good. Sitting there watching planes land and take off. (Redneck tv). Excellent service and free airport parking.

Spaghetti was good. I especially love the view of the planes landing and taking off. It was worth the drive here.

Stopped on the way to Pittsburgh for a Bloody Mary and breakfast panini. The sandwich was amazing-pepper bacon, spinach, softly fried eggs on sour dough. The Bloody could have used a little more spice. Good quick service.

The ambience was great, and we started out looking forward to dinner, and very hopeful. However, I couldn't get past the watery salmon and the bland, bland red sauce on the pasta. I pictured the kitchen with steaming, watery pans of fish waiting to be served. Honestly, the red sauce tasted like tomato soup. We so wanted you to be excellent, DeNunzio's, but even passable would have been good. How about some freshness and some herbs to step it up for dinner??

Food was good. Italian wedding soup was perfect and my citrus marinated philly chicken was tender and tasty. Upgraded to sweet potato fries for free, and had enough leftover for another complete meal for dinner. Decor was spacious, and the place overlooks the runway. I get 4G here easily where other parts of the airport does not. TV showing The Eagles in concert, playing my favorite songs. Service was friendly and great. Probably more like a 3.5 rating, but extra points for still being decent despite there being no other competition in the airport or area.

Amazing Italian food, try the Lobster Ravioli...will absolutely become your favorite!

I flew my plane for an hour for this crap?? The 'Italian' food was canned and void of any interesting flavor.... The marinara sauce even tasted 'tinny' At least if they're gonna use canned sauce, add a few spices eh? I tried the food from my friend's plates: it wasn't any better. A plate of bland chicken and more of the same sauce. Was that American cheese in italian food? This unappetizing meal was something straight from a Cafeteria tray..... Yuck. One star extra for location.

Great Italian food here. The Italian dressing is like none other. I had the homemade sauce with the homemade pasta and it was delicious. I am not to sure why some of the other reviews were so negative, as everything from the bread to the bananas foster dessert is appetizing.

The veal dishes my wife and I got were room temperature and the breading was oily and soggy. The pasta side was obviously prepared hours or days earlier and was cold. The waitress was pleasant, but was in such a rush all the time. We even asked her to slow down, but she ran everything out to the table one after the other. There were only four table seated at the restaurant and she had two of them. The food was worse than most chain restaurants, over priced for sure and the service was unprofessional. Never again.

Excellent mussels. We can never decide between the garlic white sauce and the marinara sauce so we always order both. When the mussels are gone we soak the bread in the sauce and eat that. Lots of good entrees but don't miss the mussels!

Maybe they had a bad day. A very bad day in the kitchen. Something called butternut squash soup, that well, wasn't close to what it should have been. Then, cold food. Plain, nothing special about the meal as anticipated for the setting and for the old reputation. Again, maybe a bad day in the kitchen, well, it was. From soup, to steak to burnt fried shrimp, coming out black........ But, the waiter was very good, professional.

This is a tiny restaurant in a tiny airport. You gotta go and fly out of here. Love it. The overlook at the airport is charming. I have heard the sunday brunch is great too.

We traveled for an hour to get here and I have been looking forward to a romantic dinner. It was a Friday night and the hostess asked us if we had a reservation. "Uh-oh!" I thought. But then I took a better look at the restaurant, it was huge! I can understand why they do weddings and banquets here. Not only because it is spacious, but because of the large windows facing the runway. They bring out fresh bread, but we also opted for the bruchetta appetizer. Instead of tomatoes, it was topped with roasted red peppers and topped with fresh basil; an excellent combination! For our entrees we both chose their sampler trios, one with two types of pasta and some chicken and the other had three types of chicken. It was a great way to sample several items on their menu and kept my tongue entertained. The trio samplers also came with a choice of soup or salad. The Italian wedding soup is some of the best I have ever had. Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

Went here for Valentine's Day because my girlfriend liked it on a previous occasion. Wedding soup was great as was the banana foster we enjoyed for dessert. For dinner we had the seafood platter special for 2, which looked pretty but was extremely disappointing (especially for its price).

  • Jacob H.

Went to a banquet party here. This place has an amazing view of the runway with some views of older model planes. I went at around sunset so that added to a more pleasant experience. Since I didn't get to eat off the menu I can't say much for that but the banquet hall had amazing views. Would recommend for any banquet/gathering.

This is the third DeNunzios restaurant opened in the area and it is in the space previously occupied by the Blue Angels restaurant in the Latrobe Airport. This place has wonderful atmosphere and overlooks the airport. The food is excellent they have a great menu and an even better Sunday Brunch buffet that will allow you to sample a bunch of their food.

Had a bad dining experience at DiNunzios. I won't go back and will recommend avoiding this establishment. Party of seven. Staff was not attentive. Did not take care of any of the problems we reported to her. Brushed off our complaints. Never did get to see or speak to the Manager. Unacceptable service and the food was not good on top of it all. Could not eat it. The pasta dishes were overcooked and very bland. The Fettucini Alfredo tasted bad as if the butter was rancid. That meal was not finished either. I had chicken which seemed to have been microwaved as the edges were hard and the center was mushy, but not hot. The diner that had the meat was upset that it was not cooked to order but was afraid to send back for fear of retribution - the place just had that vibe you know? Waited a long time for everything and the place had a lot of open tables but the cadence of service made it seem like they were understaffed. Server was clearly not a professional - blunt and oblivious to what was said to her - seemed that she could not care less. Maybe that was her shtick but it did not work for us. The place was very dark after the blinding sun went behind the clouds. People - skip this place - overpriced for what you get and not at all tasty. Too many other choices in Latrobe to waste your time at DeNunzio's

NOTE: This review is regarding only the quality of the Holiday Christmas Day Buffet at DeNunzio's Italian Chophouse on Christmas Day 2013. It is not a review of the Chophouse's daily menu or fare. We had a 1:30 reservation for 6 the Christmas Day Buffet 2013. The buffet was open until 3:00 pm. The restaurant was clean and the service was good. The buffet had both breakfast items and lunch/dinner items. The breakfast items included sausage, bacon, french toast, breakfast sandwiches and home fries. The french toast was cold and hard as a rock. The staff informed us that there would be no replacement items for the french toast. The breakfast sandwiches were also cold and hard as a rock. They were also not replaced. The lunch/dinner items included eggplant Parmesan, lobster mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, prime rib sliced to order and ham sliced to order. The lobster mac & cheese was cold and coagulated. The prime rib was bloody rare, which despite how I enjoy it, was much too rare for our party. The staff sent the prime rib back for 10 minutes, but after it came back, it had not improved. The ham was good albeit also cold. The remaining buffet items had moderate flavor, but were cold within 2 minutes of plating. The salad bar had probably the best items in the buffet, although the bread/buns were hard and appeared to have not been refreshed/replaced since the buffet had opened earlier that day. The lettuce was possibly the freshest item in the buffet (and likely the only fresh item). There were a variety of salad dressings, although we had to guess which dressing was which. They did have a "Waldorf Salad", which upon inspection was nothing more than diced apples in Cool Whip. The dessert table was uninspired an unappealing. There were fruit parfaits, which looked better than they tasted, The fruit had begun to wilt and turn, which indicated that they too had not been replaced/refreshed since the buffet had opened. There were a variety of pies, which were difficult to cut/slice. There were also cookies available, which was the limit of what was available. The buffet was worth about half of the $27.95 price tag. We will definitely not return next year for either holiday buffet. If this review helps even one person decide to avoid this overpriced slop, then the few minutes I spent writing this will be worth it.

Great appetizers! Their pasta sauce tastes like Ragu! Veal Parm special the worst of veal ever. Don't go unless your stuck in the airport.

Food is good, but the menu doesn't change much. I really try to avoid pasta, but there doesn't seem to be much other than that and veal here. I've never been here while an airplane has landed, but it's still a nice view. The beer selection is just barely adequate. They have Sam Adams, but I'm not sure if there's any craft beer. It would be a great restaurant at which to eat before a flight, for sure. The outside area is down a flight of steps so I feel bad sitting there, making the wait staff navigate the steps all the time. On the tele you'll usually see Celine Dion or some other dude repeating over and over. So the music is awful, but it's not any worse than that crap they play at the Olive Garden. So we like going here, but I'd pick TD Club or Tin Lizzy over this if I had to choose. Probably Chef Mark's too.

I agree about the view. . . Very nice. This place is more pricey, but I've yet to have a bad meal there. Good for more formal-take your time-sit down occasions. Good for romantic dates. Good for large groups. Wine List available. Reservations taken but not required. Some bar seating. Kids can find something to eat on the menu (spaghetti if nothing else or a simple sandwich)

I can only review for their Sunday brunch....for 2 adults and one paying child, one child was free since he was 5...the bill was $52. Kinda steep, but the food was quite good. They had an omelet bar, eggs Neptune, french toast, lyonaisse potatoes that were awesome, a table of various salads, smoked salmon, fruit salads, rolls, etc. One the lunchy side they had lemon pepper chicken, Parm crusted tilapia, ziti, shepherds pie, au gratin potatoes, and a carving station with ham and roast beef, both were nice and juicy, with optional glaze and au ju. The dessert tables in the bar section were a tad confusing, but space wise it was necessary. I would skip the chocolate mousse again, but the pumpkin roll was delicious. Our server was great, an obvious "lifer." We arrived at 10:15, we seated right away and watched some planes take off and land while the servers finished putting out all of the food. By the time we left at 11:00 it was getting pretty full. Family and I would happily go again, the planes kept the kids happy, the coffee was good, and the servers were great.

As a frequenter of restaurants all over the country and world in our business travels, it is saying something that this was the worst restaurant meal ever. Overlooking the runways at the Latrobe airport, the location is fantastic with a warm and pleasant ambiance. Unfortunately, the food doesn't come close to matching the setting. I ordered the Denunzio trio sampler comprised of chicken parmesan, cheese ravioli, and fettucine alfredo. On first bite of the chicken, I wasn't even sure what it was. It didn't taste remotely like chicken. After a couple more bites, I decided it might be detrimental to my health to continue so moved on to the fettucine alfredo. Typically alfredo sauce keeps you coming back for more with its rich creamy texture. One bite of this tasteless starch was one bite too many. The cheese ravioli was edible but not particularly enjoyable. Cracking open a generic can of tomato sauce and heating it up in the microwave would taste better than their supposedly homemade sauce. It is beyond my comprehension how they could ruin food so horribly. Delicious pasta sauces can be purchased directly from the grocery store shelves so there is no excuse for what we were served. I thought maybe I just got a bad batch of food so stole a fork full of my husband's spicy sausage with pasta only to find his was just as disgusting as mine. My chicken and his sausage both tasted really old. To be fair, the calamare was good and so was the bread. We were informed the bread is purchased frozen. Since we were with other people, we didn'tt feel it was appropriate to make a scene about the food. The place was full of customers on a Saturday night which was surprising after the pitiful example of food that we experienced.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
