Place was packed when we walked in so we thought it must be good...couldn't have been more wrong. Food was luke warm at best, beans tasted like they had soap in them and to top it off the waitress seemed as though we were putting her out asking for napkins and silverware. You'd think a Mexican place could make good tacos and burritos, which is what we ordered... And I thought all this time it was hard to mess up Mexican food. It was just simply NOT GOOD! Pretty disappointed to say the least. Save your money and DO NOT EAT HERE!

Loved it. The chips, food, drinks and service were excellent. Roland took great care of us. Loved the salsa, fish tacos, shrimp tostada. Lots of families after nearby Seasame Place closes. We will be back!

Food was stale, for a Mexican place that cannot make quacomole. The enchilada was not even cooked it was cold and looked like they just put it in microwave and couldn't even do that properly

Very good fajitas and excellent margaritas! I was worried by some negative ratings but I tried anyway. I'm glad I did worth the visit!

I am so sad to see this place got a bad review. We had such a good experience. The chips and salsa were great. The salsa was fresh. We started with frozen margaritas. The ginger peach and russelrita were both delicious. The burrito vegetariana which I really liked with all the veggies inside and added chicken. My friend got the original fish taco that she was crazy about (she's pretty picky). Then for dessert we decided on Churros with ice cream. The churros were HEAVENLY. I love churros so I know that these were some excellent churros. The server was young but very nice and helpful. We had a great experience and will be coming back again.

Not sure why the bad reviews by having a great Saturday lunch. Great service and tasty food.

First of all I don't know why all the bad reviews, decide to ignore them since it was across the street from my hotel, the place and the food were great. We walked in and were greeted and sat immediately, our sever Adam was great and fast. We had the nachos and the guacamole with shrimp which was amazing, and the drinks were great. I started with the heaven to margarita I believe don't remember the exact name ( the one with the seven liquor) and finish with the lime in the coconut margarita both were great. For dinner I had the Mexican flag and it was out of this world, my sister had the original fajita and that was good and the wife had three cheese enchiladas with chicken ( don't remember the name on the menu) and also was great Overall the whole experience was great. Definitely will come back and recommend to everybody

"If you're a bartender, tend your bar". That was the only tip my "bartender" got after I waited for a drink for over 10 minutes. (It wasn't busy at all). When I finally asked for chips and salsa, she looked at me like I was crazy for suggesting such a silly thing. They never came. I was literally sitting at the bar with one other person. She must've been out back smoking a joint...who knows. This place is terrible.

I walked in without seeing the reviews, and initially thought the place looked nice, had a cool atmosphere, and decent menu. The complimentary chips and salsa were actually pretty good. I opened up Yelp and was surprised to see 2 STARS averaged over 90 reviews. Was I in the right place? And then the food came... I got the Grilled Steak Chimichanga. I was hungry and couldnt wait to obliterate this dish. The taste kind of slowed me down. The steak tasted like it came of a Mcdonalds burger. The flavor was very mild and bland which was surprising considering their salsa was spicier than most places. In fairness, I only tried one menu item, and the other person with me liked their entree. And again, their free salsa and chips were actually better than most places. Its a decent enough family restaurant right by a major amusement park, so not a bad stop for the tourists coming through. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that grilled steak items are not their best offering.

Went on a date here and the margarita was not fresh to start with. We ordered the queso fundito and it was awful. Swimming in grease and the cheese was not done. Our server said he would get the manager and 10 minutes later he told us the manager is busy and would get to us later. I asked to substitute beef for chicken in my meal and was told the chef does not like to do that so I can't have it that way. Never going back there again.

Well my first review was 4+ stars and that was lunchtime mid week This one is for dinner on Sat night AND its not even Sesame Place season. First and foremost food is still good Second and biggest the service TERRIBLE!! Three of us at 7:30 pm sat down quickly on front area tables of Rest. Took server 30 minutes to even acknowledge us. Then service continued to be POOR. After all that when we finally ate and wanted our check. Again no server!! 30 minutes later a bus boy cleaning floor saw i was ready to leave without paying as well as two other tables. Finally she showed up. No excuses, not even a sorry Need to fire staff!!

The other Yelp reviews had me pretty spooked, but I survived my lunch visit unscathed. Service was excellent. We were seated promptly and given our choice of tables inside or out. Our waitress arrived right away and was sensitive to the fact we were on our lunch break. Our food arrived promptly and she left the check for us so that we didn't have to chase her down. The frozen Margarita was good, not overly strong but had a little kick. The chips and salsa were just ok, I've had better. The chicken quesadilla didn't have a lot of taste, which was odd considering it's supposed to contain red and green chiles for flavor. Hmm, maybe they got left out... In summary, 4 stars for solid service and outdoor seating. 2.5 stars for the food.

I must say I was impressed when I walked in the door. My family and I were on a trip to Sesame Place with the kids and wanted a good place to eat before we got back on the road. As we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. As soon as we were seated our waiter came explained the menu to us because it was our first time and took our drink order. Within a few minutes we received our drinks but that was the last item we received timely. We placed our order and we waited a long time to receive the food in fact it was so long that the waiter came and apologized many times. We sat and watched other customers who were seated after us receive their food before us. I don't know if you have ever tried to calm down a very hungry 5 and 1 year old but it's hell!!! When we finally received our meals they were hot and very good!!! We loved our margaritas the best we ever had. Other than the slow service the food and drinks were excellent!!! I would go back but hopefully the slow service problem is fixed!!

My wife and I ate here together for the 2nd time tonight and once again, were only partially satisfied. The food and drinks were very good (except for the salsa that came with the chips), but the quality of the surroundings brought down the experience. Tonight, aside from being served food with no silverware/napkins (until requested), my wife's ginger ale had a bad taste to it. When she looked in the cup after a few sips, there was a black film all around the inside of the cup (possibly mold?) that wiped off with a finger. The condiments on the table were covered with a disgusting coat of fuzz that looks like they were cleaned with a Kleenex or were inhabited by spiders. (See photo). The other time we there, there was an obnoxious child playing SOCCER in the outdoor dining area. Bouncing and kicking the ball the tables and off the fence (and over the fence into the lot and cars), it made for an extremely unpleasant experience. Aside from the negligent parents (who happened to be drinking waaaay too much), the wait staff and management failed to say or do anything to curtail this behavior on their property. Maybe if mom and dad weren't running up such a nice tab... If and when we choose to go here again, it won't be for quite some time. Perhaps the 3rd time will be the charm?

Come here for the drinks! Margaritas are very well crafted and overflowing. The food, passable. The chips and salsa were solid. Overall solid place. Drinks and ambiance were very well done. Would go back. Just not specifically for the food.

These reviews giving 1 or 2 stars is pretty accurate. But I don't want to hurt the bull, while it's down, but I guess that's what yelpers do.. Give an honest assessment of a food establishment. I will say that service has gotten better in the past year. Not a long wait to get food, never a wait at the front (but for obvious reasons), but this review is really just about food quality... The terrible food quality. The chips were stale tasting in the second batch, like bad oil. The meals seem miniature when they come out on these big plates, and the tacos are bite-sized- 2-3 bites and you're done. The fish is frozen (not unusual but just pointing it out), and it's just uninspiring. It also comes with no sides, which is nonsense I had an El diablo shrimp dish. It came out cold, the shrimp was good, just didn't get a pow flavor. There was charred bottom-of-the-pan black stuff from sautéing the spinach (that was not spinach).. Just pan drips. yUCK! The side salad is pretty disgusting with pickled onion, iceberg and tomatoes- nothing to it, some unflavored cheese and a terribly acidic dressing that doesn't belong. The fried ice cream, while delicious, was HARD as a rock. I get that you need to pre-prepare these and then freeze them but this was DEEP frozen, and a pain to stick a spoon through. Don't think I'll be returning- I tried it the first time and liked it, second time it was good not the best, third time, I noticed the bad service, now it was good service and terrible food. There needs to be better consistency! Good food and good service together shouldn't be too hard to get, especially when reviews are now 2 or 3 out of 5!!! We want to love you Margarita's! We do.

I was apprehensive to come here with all the negative reviews. But I'm glad I did anyway. The service was quick and great. The food and drinks were really delicious. We came just in time to order some things off the happy hour menu and they were a great price and very tasty. I will definitely be back again and recommend to others. I don't understand all the negative reviews.

A few people said that I should avoid this place, I should have heeded their warnings. The chips and salsa were absolutely horrible. Stale tasting chips and probably the worst salsa I have ever tasted. I had the seared tuna salad, the tuna tasted completely different than any tuna I have ever tasted (not in a good way) it was very thick with a strong fishy taste. They brought me the wrong dressing but I never saw the waiter again until we paid so I just used what was there. It was the tequila lime dressing, it tasted like oil and nothing else. My water was empty throughout the entire meal. My mom ordered the house salad with shrimp (for an extra $4.00), it came with 4 small-medium sized shrimp. I would never recommend this place. The food is horrible and the customer service was bad.

Came here the other weekend for lunch with my friend. This place has a really fun atmosphere, we immediately heard mexican music playing as we walked in the doors. We were seated right away and given chips & salsa shortly after. Chips & salsa were pretty decent. We each ordered a margarita. I had the strawberry margarita which was delicious and had the perfect amount of tequila. For my meal, I had some type of shrimp quesadilla(forget the name). I was highly unimpressed with this. It didn't taste terrible, but they were literally so soggy that they were falling apart as I tried to eat them. I'm guessing too much grease. On a better note, our waitress was great! So all in all, service and atmosphere made this a three star review, but the food was below average. On top of this, the food wasn't exactly cheap either for the quality. We spent $40 before tip for two people for lunch. Maybe would give them another shot for drinks and apps if back in the area.

I'm a big MEXICAN food fan, and am the biggest critic having authentic Mexican food for a decent amount of years. I will say the food here was great , very flavorful ( not authentic) more of Tex Mex. I ordered the street tacos ( braised beef) they were fantastic!! The service could use some improve my, but all in all, we will def be back!!

  • Eva C.

The food and drinks were quite good....We went on a Friday evening. Received a prompt greeting and were asked if we wanted to sit in the bar area, main dining area or out on the patio. The inside spaces were pretty loud, between the music and the patrons, so we opted for the patio. Had delicious margaritas at happy hour prices, and the seafood tacos (shrimp and fish) and land tacos (chicken, beef and pork). Sides had to be ordered separately as they are not included with the entree. We got black beans and rice. We enjoyed everything...all tasted fresh, and were cooked and seasoned well. The complimentary chips were fresh and the salsa was tasty and had a nice kick. Service was good as well.

Awesome restaurant with super atmosphere and great authentic Mexican food. Welcomed immediately by Staff and was advised of all great drink special prices and super menu deals. I would like to recommend this fine establishment to everyone. Thanks again for a great lunch! B.B.

Funny, we just left sesame place and looking for nice place to eat and saw this restaurant. While waiting, I decided to read reviews on this restaurant and was concerned about the reviews. I told my wife Olive Garden was only mile down. As we were about to leave, they called our names to sit down. So we decided to stay and give it a try. Guess what. I didn't have any of the issues other reviewers had. The salsa and chips were great. The service was good. In fact we have good tip. The food came out quick and was pretty good. I had the tio Mexican combo. Wife had enchilada. Kids had typical kids menu stuff. No complaints here. This was during July 4th also.

Were to start... I arrived a little later then my party which was already seated. I asked were I could locate them, they had to clue and just pointed to the dinning room and stated go back a look around. Waitress was very nice and pleasant within min's getting my order for drinks. The drinks came pretty fast, we order and waited, and waited for the food. Final almost an hour later the first plate arrived. This was Fajitas which they only cook med-well, but it came out well done to almost rare. That person was able to wait 10 minutes before eating and finish there meal, which was about 30 minutes, before the 2nd person received there meal. The 3rd and 4th person got there meal about 10 minutes after the 2nd. Mine was the Taco Salad, with ground beef which was hard to find in the bowl. Overall the taste was good, I had better. Margaritas were great and flavorful. The manger did come over and talk to us, because of our long wait, in which he stated he would pick up the bill, which in the end was just the main course not the drinks. He stated that there was a major kitchen break down which was holding up the plates from coming out. Only thing was the people behind us order after us and got all of their food before us. We decide to get Coffee, Tea and dessert. The dessert was great and came out fast, along with our coffee and tea. The only thing I would say is that the coffee and tea was only ¾ full and even with the cream and sugar it wasn't brim. (And no we didn't expect them to pick up the tab on this) On the way the hostess which was texting behind the counter stated having a good night as she was looking down texting away. Over all not impressed and have no plans on going back. Margaritas would be better off focusing on there great drinks and some American bar food and get away from the Mexican food.

If been here twice around a year ago and was very pleased. Today was a different story. I should have left when we arrived to find the place near empty. Long story short I opened this Yelp app just to voice my anger at being ripped off by this excuse for a lousy $60 meal! I guess they now survive off the Sesame Street crowd who don't know better!

Stopped in on a Saturday night with family and seated ourselves near bar. Waiter finally came over after a long wait and was quite rude. No napkins nor silverware were provided until we asked for them. My wife and son ordered quesadillas and neither cared for them. I had three tacos (beef, chicken, pork) and quite frankly have had bigger servings with McDonald's kiddy meals. Might as well have ordered onion tacos as that is all I saw or tasted. Two of the three tacos couldn't even be picked up because they were a pile of mush when they arrived. Waiter was a young punk who actually responded to me with a loud: "What?!" ... when I asked for a soda refill. Night was a waste as three of the four meals was a disappointment. Won't be going back soon. Expensive too for the measly portions served.

  • SandaSweet H.

Place sucks !! Stay away. No napkins. Queso was horrible. Ordered fajitas and the rice was burnt to the skillet. Only could make one fajita and that was after they finally gave me the guacamole sour cream and tortillas to make it with. That didn't come out until after 15 minutes of having steady received our steak and rice.

What a great experience it was eating here! The place was beautiful. It felt real authentic. Being from California, I'm used to walking into places like this but haven't gotten the pleasure since I've moved to nj. The food, though good, was a little disappointing. It just didn't taste as I had expected. The salsa was like an avocado cream and the other was like a tapatio in a little cup. I would have liked some more chile type salsa with tomatillos or something more authentic. Our server was awesome. He was from jersey and he was an all around cool guy who catered too all of our needs. I wish I remembered his name. What a beautiful place to have lunch. I wish it was closer, I'd go all the time.

  • Kendra H.

This place is just awful!! My family and I arrived for dinner at about 7:00 after a long day at Sesame Place just next door. We are from New York & my sister somehow heard great reviews about this place but then again I'm not sure from who? Why oh why didn't I check the yelp reviews before going? Our service was awful just as others had described on here. Idk how this place can stay in business with the type of screw ups they make. As a business, it is embarrassing. We were a large party and after about an hour and a half wait, they brought the food out but only to about 5 of the party of 7 we had. My sister and I were still waiting for our food while the others were about 10 minutes into eating theirs. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN! Especially since we were starving. Then to make matters worse, they screwed up everything! My sister's husband ordered pork enchiladas and they gave him chicken. My two nieces were supposed to get sides with their kid meals, they had to ask to get them. My sister and I asked for well done steak for our fajitas and they came back bloodier than ever, so we had to send them back to be recooked. The service was sooooooo bad and the food was soooo gross the manager came over and told us that he had given us 50% off the bill. Thank goodness I didn't have to pay full price for that garbage. The only decent thing I had all night was the STRAWBERRY MARGARITA. That was actually good. Overall, I ended up paying $12 for garbage food and worse service. Stay away from this place at all costs!!!!!

Not the greatest Mexican in the area but in a pinch it's a good place to go. They do really have good margaritas though.

  • Thuy N.

This place is terrible !!!! I don't even like Mexican but my friends wanted it so I gave it a go. My margarita sucked. No liquor just lime juice and bitter. Our waiter was in a rush and was terrible ... His name is Matt btw. I ordered chicken chimichangas and didn't realize what I was eating till I looked closer . They gave me shrimps and I have a shell fish allergy. The manager did come and say sorry, comped my meal and gave me another. On the border is better .

    (1)
  • Kimberly G.

I'd rather go to On The Border in Neshaminy!!!! The hostesses were terribly rude. I caught the hostess rolling her eyes and cursing off another customer. Our wait was an hour. We weren't terribly hungry, so we decided to take the wait time. An hour later we were still waiting. My fiancée went to ask th hostess how much longer, her response was , " I don't know, you've been waiting about an hour". After that, my fiancée looked back at a section that had empty tables. We asked why we couldn't be seated there. The hostess told us she forgot about that section, and we all could be seated there. Now I was really mad. The waitress we had was nice and friendly. She knew how to take care of her guests. She promptly gave us chips and salsa. She took our drink and food orders; she also was fabolous itch watching a food allergy of mine!! The food is was poor to fair. The chips were good, but everything else was terrible. My fiancée ordered chicken tacos. They were dinky and priced unfair. He did not get a side, and it looked like the cook threw it on a plate half done!! I had the steak chimichanga. The chimichanga itsself wasn't bad( a little spicy, but not terrible), but the refried beans were more like black beans. They were spicy and over powered with pepper.Overall, a terrible experience, we will not be back.

  • Kyle C.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Absolutely terrible food that tasted like straight chemicals, made me and my girlfriend sick and her face swell up. We read other reviews and decided to give it a try anyway, biggest mistake ever.I can't believe I paid over 50$ for nasty Mexican bar food. You're better off going to the taco bell across the street.

    (1)
  • Milton A.

Zero stars. Really. The service is slow, the location (next to sesame place) causes parking difficulty and the food bears little resemblance to Mexican food. I'm not sure what the owners are going for but they are a few notches below the mediocre chains like On The Border and Chili's. The chips and salsa are awful, the beans and rice have weird add-ins and the main dishes just don't taste right. There are better choices nearby -- Mexican mariachi grill in Ewing, chipotle in Neshaminy and the bland national chains mentioned above. Avoid. Yelp won't let me assign no stars!

  • Wajma N.

So I have came here before and the service has sucked then but this time it was even worse. Came with my sister for dinner. Sat a a booth by the bar. The waitress took a good 15 mins to come over. Ask us if we wanted anything to drink as she handed the menu. Told her give us a few mins she left and brought the chips and salsa. She brought no utensils, napkins, small plates or water. The chips weren't bad but the salsa was so hot! She walked by us 3xs before coming over to get our order. I had to ask for napkins. Finally our food came i got the chicken fajita salad. It was ok nothing special. My sister got the street tacos. I tried the beef one and it was not good. Tasted like bad beef. We paid and left. Don't think I'll come back again.

  • Brian B.

This was, sadly, one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I don't know where to begin, but I will try to, briefly, recap the dining experience to be had at Tio Juan's. To those of you looking at these reviews before trying it, heed the whopping two stars it has overall! First, the good. When we arrived we were able to be seated right away. The seat, unfortunately, was in the dining area right behind the bar. It was so loud, primarily from the blenders, that we had to yell to speak to each other. We could deal with this though. The server was, relatively, quick to take our order, bring us chips, etc. The restaurant was pretty busy so I am imagining that he was busy and doing his job as quickly as he could. I only saw him waiting on four tables (if he only had four, then he was REALLY slow) but I will give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was also waiting on tables in the bar area. I also think our table was as far away from the kitchen as you could get, so there is probably a lot of time wasted walking to and from the kitchen. The margaritas, while pricey, were pretty tasty, and we thought the salsa was pretty good despite many of the negative reviews here. The guacamole was decent, though the server proudly told us that they make it fresh "every three hours." I am sure there are lots of restaurants (I am keeping in perspective that this is a chain place) that make this stuff early in the day, for the whole day, but let's keep an illusion that it is made to order (or offer a table-side option). Eating three hour old guacamole doesn't really appeal to me. That was the good. Oh boy. So, after what was a pretty long wait they brought out all of the food. Except mine. One of the other servers noticed that I wasn't served yet so he said he would go check with the kitchen. Five minutes or so later our server came to check on the table and I told him I did not have my meal yet. He raced to the kitchen to check on it. About five minutes or so later he came back and said there was a problem in the kitchen and it would be out soon. Great... 5-10 min later my food finally arrived. I wish it didn't. I ordered the carne asada (the server did not seem that familiar with the dish so I assume it is not an often ordered menu item). When I took a bite I thought to myself "wow, that doesn't taste very good." I reluctantly took another and realized that it wasn't that the food didn't taste good, it was spoiled. I picked up my plate to smell the meat, which was assuredly way past its prime. I had my wife come over verify that it wasn't just in my head. I was grossed out and send the food back (first time in my life I have ever sent anything back). The waiter apologized and asked if he could get me something else, which I declined (at this point my party was finishing up their food, I was grossed out and just wanted to get out of there). The manager came by a few minutes later to apologize and make sure they couldn't get me something else, which I again declined. To the staff's credit they sincerely felt bad and did their best to rectify the situation (before we left they brought desert packed in a to go bag as an apology); a nice gesture, but serving food that is fresh and without the possibility of food poisoning would be preferable. I really can't recommend this restaurant to anyone, there are plenty of better options nearby. Sorry this review is so long. The last thing I want to add was that they try to up-sell you on everything (upgrade your margarita with a different flavor or tequila, add fire roasted corn to your guacamole, etc.). I read the menu and know what I want to order, please stop the up-selling unless I ask you what you recommend.

Terrible!! Do not go here. My friend and I ended up not eating here and went to chili's across the street. My friend and I wanted to try this place. We thought we could get a drink after a long day. Bunch of kids were there cus i realized sesame place was next door. The hostess said it was a 40 min wait. We decided to go to the bar where there was no wait. Half the tables were empty... however the dirty food and dishes were still left on the table. No one cleaned up. Had to been there for at least 30 mins. Then we went to the outdoor patio and still so many tables were not cleaned up! The hostess said the bus boys were busy and that it Would take longer for them to clean up the tables. Seriously... its not that hard. Ive never seen sonmany dirty tables. If the hostess were smart.. she or the waitresses can easily clean up the tables. But they are not. We were disgusted. We went to chili's and did not have to wait. The waiter cleaned up the table after we were done with the food. Took them less than a minute. WORST PLACE EVER.

Cold food terrible service, I was so excited when this restaurant opened. I've been here a few times each time w mediocre Food and service. But today is the worst of all my experiences. Certainly my last time unless I read review posts that things have definitely improved. Extremely disappointed!

Consistency is their forte... Unfortunately, they make errors consistently, and they provide poor service and not very good food or drinks consistently. Yesterday our server was removed by management from his area and we were left without a server for about 45 minutes. As with each visit we go for happy hour (about once a month), there was at least one mistake with a food item and one with a drink item. The worst part is that the food is just not that good and it is somewhat pricey. We enjoy the place because it is nice to see our friends there, but it just gets worse and worse! I would no longer recommend this place to anyone. Some of the staff there is nice, but overall it is no longer a pleasant experience. I only go to see my friends, but I suspect we will be finding a new place to go.

I don't know why everyone is giving bad reviews. I went here for dinner. The server was extremely nice and on point. My dinner was amazing. I would go back over and over. Well done:) maybe they got rid of the bad servers.

I would give it another shot. Lunch started off with guacamole with fire roasted corn salsa mixed in. Nothing to write home about. It was good but just a little bland. I had the seafood trio for my entrée. The tortilla crusted taco was the most flavorful, served with red cabbage and orange sauce. The fried fish taco was my next favorite. The shrimp taco was good but the shrimp were just a little over cooked. Our server, Heather, did a great job. We didn't wait long for anything and she was very helpful answering questions about the menu. Overall the food was good but not great. I would definitely try this place again.

I just read some of the previous reviews on here and I am completely blown away that they're talking about the same restaurant. Maybe I just went at the right time... Who knows... I checked this place out for the first time during happy hour. It was about 20° outside and as soon as I stepped in to the restaurant, I instantly forgot I was in Jersey and completely felt like I was in South America. the decor is very nice and the staff was pleasant as well. Our waitress, Jaclyn was very energetic, funny, and extremely catering towards our needs. All the food that we received was fresh and made exactly to our liking. They also have a pretty large outdoor dining area. I totally can't wait until it gets warm so I can go there and kick back with some margaritas outside. I also would like to point out that we dined in the lounge area and I couldn't help but to notice the interactions between the staff and customers. It kind of reminded me of that old TV show, Cheers. Lol. It just seemed like everybody knew each other. But in a non alienating kind of way. So with that said, I have absolutely no complaints about this place and I would definitely recommend it.

Wow, That's all I can say about this experience... I just got home from a wonderful waste of time... We walk into a huge area with no host or hostess, and stand there un-greeted for at least 5 minutes... So no big deal, I'll just seat myself at the bar, usually its ok if you seat yourself there... While sitting at the bar, we ordered Guacamole, (no spice, or spices... BLAND) but fresh and cold if your looking for a positive. We then ordered shrimp taco's which was unbelievably bad... COLD PRECOOKED Shrimp?? I'm guessing, cause how else can the shrimp be cooked throughout and not room temp cold, but (Refrigerator) cold on the inside... I also ordered a Chicken enchilada on the ALA CARTE menu. The enchilada comes out on a plate that was in the melt to melt the cheese, however its my GUESS, and I reiterate its just a guess, that my premade wrapped in plastic Enchilada was microwaved for 30 seconds to a minute prior to going into the melt. Unfortunately, the 5.99 inexpensive enchilada had about an ounce of shredded lettuce on the plate that was wilted and brown because some Genius thought it was a good idea to put the lettuce on the plate prior to putting the plate in the cheese melt. EPIC FAIL here... Hello, NOONE wants to eat warm wilted lettuce, I would bet that whoever wrote the recipe for this dish recommended it be cold fresh lettuce. and since lettuce is like $2.00 retail for a head of ice berg at the grocery store, I'm sure that they would suggest putting a nice mound so that the small amount is not cooking on the plate while being carried to the table. The bartender, who was a female with really short hair, seemed to be about the only person in the restaurant who had half a clue how to work. I watched 2 tables sit down, and seat themselves at the bar booths next to us, and sit for about 5 minutes, until the female bartender looked over and told an employee who was sitting at a tall bar table playing on his phone, to greet the guest. The disgusted server rolled his eyes and unenthusiastically went to greet the table. I asked the bartender how long the place has been open and she told me the 1 year anniversary is coming up... I will bet $100 if the management team that is in place today, doesn't change this place will be closed in about 6 months... If the Owner or district manager of this place has the pleasure to read this review and wants to dispute even 1 thing that was written in this review, I would be more than happy to waste another hour of my time since I just wasted an hour and a half on a shitty meal at this restaurant.

Oh man. I had hopes for this place. I don't even suggest trying it. The only thing worth eating is the salsa (and the taste changes every time they bring another bowl). The margaritas weren't bad, but not amazing. I've given this place two shots: the first it was unbearably loud and we manage to snag a table at the area. Be warned, this place is a magnet for sesame place traffic, lots and lots of crying kids. The decor is tacky and typical "chi-chi's Mexican." The waitstaff is young but friendly. I got a cheese, a chicken, and a beef enchilada for my meal. The cheese was the only edible one. The chicken was so dry and the beef was like Taco Bell meat. The beans didn't look like beans, and were gelled up and inedible. We wrote this place off until last night, when a friend begged me to try it. We got salsa which was pretty good the first batch and not so great the second batch. We also ordered guacamole, which was bland. I only took a few bites. Our waitress came to take our order at the same time our guacamole came out, and the food runner cut the waitress off mid-order to leave the food on the table. It was very awkward. I ordered beef tacos for my meal hoping they'd be better. The beef once again was unseasoned and possibly worse than Taco Bell meat. Also, the soft taco shells completely fell apart and crumbled before I could even eat them. I ended up having to eat them with a fork. What kind of Mexican place has a patron eat tacos with a fork?? My friend got enchiladas which didn't appear terrible (better than the ones I got originally). We left wondering why a place would spend so much money on decor and stupid knick-knacks instead of finding a good chef! I love Mexican food and I really wanted this place to be good. Margaritas please find yourself a good chef, food will bring in loyal customers, not tacky decorations!!

Great atmosphere Salsa is fresh and spicy BUT Food is subpar, refried beans ( in my chick burrito) have too much pepper , can't eat it , lack of flavor So disappointing SLOW service , several mistakes on order

Margaritas were great. Sangria was awful, sent back. My son ordered tacos off the adult menu with picante sauce. Nowhere did it mention that the picante sauce was smokin hot. Had to send back. I got the vegetarian Zapata. I ordered it with avocado. The avo was old. It just wasn't good. Sent back. My husband and boys enjoyed their tacos but not enough to go back. The manager (took offending food and drink off bill) and waitress were very accommodating and that is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. Going to Cancun instead next time we get a hankering for Mexican food.

    (2)
  • Erin B.

I will start by saying they get 2 stars for their Chili, fresh onions, peppers and fire roasted corn! yum. BUT the hostesses were more interested in chatting with each other than seating my friend and I. Our waiter was very knowledgable, but forgot things we asked for numerous times....like silverware, limes for our club sodas, chip refill, etc. He even commented to us that it was not "his fault" we had no silverware, since that is a "hostess duty but they are more interested in picking out their outfits than doing their jobs". TEAMWORK FAIL!!! food was good and timing was also, but the staff left me rolling my eyes. and as we left 2 hostesses were crunched down behind the hostess station giggling while on their phones....really??? The staff here is going to bury this place!!

Awful. I don't know what's worse- the food or the service. Save your money and your time and go to Taco Bell across the street.

Mexican is my favorite food. I've been here 3 times. 2x for food, 1x at the bar. Food is hit or miss. Never order the nachos. Fajitas can't go wrong. Timing is horrible. Food runners bring out your food as soon as they see it, regardless of timing. There is NO organization whatsoever in terms of timing. Waiters/waitresses constantly having to apologize for lack of organization with kitchen timing. The bar service was normal, the drinks are average. This place has a GREAT aesthetic appeal and atmosphere, and I really want to come back, but the fact that there are 6-8 hostesses, and 40 serving staff running around at any given moment makes for an extremely chaotic environment, and it's just not matching the atmosphere you see around you. Please fix this so that I can make this my favorite restaurant!

  • Lindsay A.

Disappointed. "Greeted" (if that's what you want to call it) by an attitude at the door- hostess didn't even make eye contact as she shoved the pager in my hand which began my wait for a table. Staff in black shirts seemed to be everywhere - but didn't seem to be doing anything. One stood leaning against the wall in the waiting area eating tortilla chips. It was surely in poor taste to be munching in front of starving customers waiting to be seated. If this guy was on his break, go to a break room, don't munch in front of the hungry, waiting guests. Once seated, I asked the waitress about an appetizer I wanted to order - she couldn't explain it and when going for clarification came back with an even more confusing description. Opted for the "fresh made" guacamole instead - which couldn't have been made fresh as it was out on the table within a minute of order. Unfortunately, this would be the only food item that came out in a reasonable timeframe. Our party of four went through four baskets of chips in the hour we waited for our dinners. We didn't order anything fancy - tacos, enchiladas, and a salad - all standard Mexican fare - no special requests. I had asked for the salad to have dressing on the side. When the dressing didn't come out on the side I asked the waitress if the dressing was put on the salad - she had no clue, but returned with dressing that lacked flavor (I think it was tequila lime dressing?). The "steak" I ordered on my salad was nothing more than a few chunks of beef - couldn't have been more than 4oz of steak. Save your money and go accross the street and have Taco Bell - it will be quicker, cheaper, and similar quality.

Even after reading the negative reviews, I was in a hurry and thought it can't be that bad. I was wrong. The food was horrible. I had the fajitas with steak and chicken. Steak was good and chicken was ok but beans and rice was not very good and the peppers and onions were in huge chunks and not cooked evenly. They also had a bad taste. Service was very bad as well. Waited good 10 to 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was there. Finally got menu and drinks but still took another 20 minutes for her to take my order. Food came out fast. Beer on tap was very cold so that's why I will give them one star.

Terrible terrible place. Wish I had checked Yelp before going. Got there 9pm after day at Sesame with a 2 hour drive ahead of me. Order dish for me and wife specifying "no hot sauce because we both have allergies/problems with foods. An hour later, still no food, ready to get up and leave - they come out with completely wrong dishes with the hot sauces all over them. An HOUR to make a few tacos??? I think grover and oscar could have gotten it done faster and better with their costumes on. So 10 pm, still 2 hour drive ahead of me to get home, so we said screw it and walked out, got some snacks at the rest stop off the highway. My wife had taken a bit of our daughter's dish before we walked out and said it was disgusting, low quality meat, so we were actually glad that we got off the hook and didn't end up eating their disgusting food. But this terrible place will probably stay in business for years to come because of its location, drawing in the S-Place crowd, oh well. Shoulda yelped first. Tio you guys were a terrible end to a nice day with the family.

Food is just okay....tried quite a few entrees on a couple visits hoping I had just ordered the wrong thing. Unfortunately, don;t think there is a right (or good ) thing to eat here. Drinks are not anything too special either. Gee, wish this was a Chevy's instead....as chains go, that would be an improvement.

Was in the area for a business trip, Mexican food sounded good. We had the option of sitting in the bar area or the dining room. The happy hour specials only applied to the bar area so we sat there. It was very loud because they had the baseball game on at a super high volume so it was hard to talk. The guacamole and maragarita was VERY good but the salsa was bland and the nachos were horrible. The service was ok, nothing spectacular.

Pretty much the saving grace for this place is the bar area. Get the $5 margarita and the $1 mini chimi during happy hour.

I recently had dinner here with a group of 4 people. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. I ordered one of the larger platters and the portion size you received wasn't great in relation to the cost. The mexican rice that comes with the platter was a bit...curious. It had carrots and peas in it and seemed like it was from one of those Uncle Ben's microwavable rice pouches. The "fried" ice cream was also a bit curious. It was basically a big scoop of vanilla ice cream rolled in pretzel sticks and chocolate syrup. I did come back for their happy hour in the bar and found the specials there to really bring some redeeming quality back to the restaurant. Happy Hour specials of $5 margaritas/$4 guac/$3 nachos/$2 tacos/$1 mini chicken chimis. That's a pretty good deal, as long as you understand you're getting bar food and not a 4 star dinner.

what a great start!, The decor and Salsa were just great! That unfortunately this is where any thing above a 1 star ended, The "Strawberry" Margarita tasted like Tequila flavored red ice. The fajita's had no flavor, not the meat, peeper, beans, rice,or onions. AND i mean NONE. I was like they just put in a pan with a bit of oil to cook up. Wife's Enchilada was mostly cheese and no flavor. None of the side dishes had any flavor. So, if you just want to "Eat food" this is your place. If you want anything that has flavor go up the Rt 1 to On The Boarder. We had hoped Margaritas would be as good since it is closer to our house, but I could cook better so why go out? My wife wanted to like it so much she wants to call the owner and yell at them for having such a nice looking place with SUCH bad food

Disgusting!!!! We should have listened to all the bad reviews!!! Chips were stale, food was bland and soggy, kids ice cream was freezer burned. Mojito and daiquiri were awful mixes. Stay away.....

This restaurant just opened and while the servers are eager to please, the food falls short. It is a chain restaurant so one expects mediocre food, but this was not even mediocre. The salsa tasted store bought. The guacamole was fresh, but bland. I ordered enchiladas and those were also bland. For a place named margaritas, they should serve a decent one. A margarita costs $8.00 and yet they don't know how to mix. You will drink an entire glass of sweet and sour mix.

I took the time to email corporate about my horrible experience here. They never even had the courtesy to respond back. This restaurant chain is a complete failure when it comes to customer service from corporate down to it's restaurant managers.

The service and food was delicious. We got the sangria and margaritas. Both were fantastic! The guacamole was outstanding and so were the warm chips they kept bringing out. I got the pork carnitas quesadilla and my friend got the fajitas. Both of us ate everything and were sad when there wasn't any left. Our waitress was extremely attentive and made sure we were satisfied with everything she brought out. I would go back a million times! :)

I've never had bland Mexican food before... didn't think it was possible. Empanadas were over fried and dry, chimichanga was soggy and flavorless... honestly, the best part of the meal was the chips and salsa, which I can easily have at home, with the simple opening of a bag and a jar. Our server, Colleen, was very good... not her doing the cooking. Won't be back...

I would love to give this place a good rating but from when we walked in until we left...HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! I took my staff out for dinner hoping to have a good time. We waited 20 minutes just to get a server to the table and another 10 minutes for the drinks...yes I timed it on my IPhone! We ordered a bunch of appetizers which we're less then fresh and the Guacamole was so bland that I think they just scooped an avocado and put it in a dish. The Margaritas were full of sour mix and not good. We split the combination of all three street tacos and to no surprise...terrible!! The fish was fried so long that there was only breading once you bit into the taco. We gave up on the beef which was chewy and no flavor. My friend ordered the "Gringo" burger and it looked nice until you opened the bun, dry, overcooked and burnt. I told the server how disappointed we were and she explained, it's late and the kitchen is cleaning which is why the food is not good?? I replied, so we should come in early so we can eat an eatable meal??? It took 30 minutes for a manger to come over to the table and took the tacos off the bill and basically walked away. You can tell this place will not be around very long and it's ashame, it's a great location!!! WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK!!

I was invited to join a few ex co workers here on a Thursday evening in June. I think the place was only open a week. Parking attendents advised me that my car had to be valeted. There were no available spaces because 2/3 of the parking lot was coned off for valet. Valet parking for a Chi-Chi's type restaurant? Bad start. We ordered drinks and dinner. Those who ordered specialty margaritas kept getting new napkins placed under their drink to prevent the colored sugar from melting down and staining the tile table. Ever hear of white sugar?? Food wasn't bad, but not terrific. Beef for the fajitas was marinated and had an odd flavor. Mediocre at best and absolutely not worth the price. The waitress didn't know anything about the menu, but was super nice and tried very hard. Like someone else mentioned, better food and service at other places.

OMG. Stay away from this place. Bar service doesn't care about patrons. Tonight, I met coworkers there (all staying at Sheraton). Soft taco shells were stale and microwaved. Jack crisp was burnt. One shot with two gnats. One drink with gnat. Guac charged to people who didn't order guac (it was shitty anyway). Manager was too busy windexing something to come over to our table. Still charged for drinks and unedible food. Manager still too busy windexing to apologize. Like a bunch of crackheads running this place. WTF. I felt so bad being put into the position of 'asshole customer' when all I wanted was the manager to apologize for the BUGS in our drinks. Waitress was upset with us, but the manager didn't help. I think out of 6 dishes, ONE was edible with no complaints. Poor service, bad food, horrible management. This place should close. I want to make some 'one star on yelp' stickers to put on their front door to warn everyone.

I'm so sad!!! My husband and I moved here from South Carolina, where there are Mexican restaurants on every corner. Service is quick, fast and always amazing food. I took for granted what I I had. We are easy to deal with and love Mexican food. We live in South Jersey, with no decent Mexican places around, so we typically go into Philly but found this place by accident when our other spot was slammed. First time & Second time we went there, there was a wait in the lobby. Good we thought, must be great! We have a 2-year old, so waiting is not the easiest of tasks. The waitress said the booths in the bar were first come first serve. We managed to find a booth immediately opening up both times. Both times, chips and salsa arrived immediately and the server was immediately present. Great sign. Fail. Both times, my husband has ordered a Modelo Especial (on draft) and been brought a Negro Modelo (completely different beer, also on draft). The server has seemed clueless and amazed that the Modelo Especial is on draft. KNOW YOUR BEER SELECTION (common sense). First time, we ordered queso dip. 10 minutes went by, no dip so we questioned the server. She said she'd check on it. Immediately after she disappears, our food AND the queso dip shows up. We canceled the queso dip and enjoyed the rest of the meal, Kitchen Manager was present and apologetic for the delay, so we dropped it, no big deal. Second visit tonight, we sat down, server immediately present. Of course my husband's beer was wrong, so we nicely correct him. He brings my husband a bottled beer. We say, OK it's on draft but he'll drink it, no problem. He then brings the draft beer. So my husband has two nearly full beers on the table. aside from wrong beer, again, queso dip out and on table in less then 3 minutes. WINNING! Then about 10 minutes later my food shows up, no problem. We wait 5 minutes. Wait some more, server comes by and I say my husband doesn't have his food. He says OK and disappears. 5-10 more minutes and my husband's food shows up finally and is cold. By then we have an antsy 2 year old bouncing off the booth, literally, so we aren't going to push it. But then the manager walks by, so we get the check and flag him. We were polite, but with both of us having service industry experience, myself having 10 years bartending experience and are very laid back, I brought to his attention that we drove 20-30 minutes for this food and that was part of the reason we had come back. We explained the mishap with the beer, same problem, both times, and he seemed baffled stating that the bar / lounge staff was the cream of the crop and had to pass tests and not their stuff. I said, well they don't. We've been here twice now, with two different servers and had the same problem. There are basic things you should know and your draft selection, which according to the manager hardly ever changes, is one of them. Common sense Server 101 etiquette. I haven't bartended in 3 years, but I suspect I could have run circles around half of the people in that bar area. We will go back and visit, but 3 strikes, and unfortunately, they may be out. I hate it, the food really was good. We are just disappointed in the service, and I'm not hard to please.

This place isn't bad. We had good service and our kids liked their tacos. The salsa was just ok--a little too spicy for my taste. I got the Mexican Flag enchiladas--liked everything on there but the red sauce. It tasted too sweet and just a little funny. Can't really explain it but I wouldn't order red sauce again. It was reasonably priced but I have had better Mexican food elsewhere. Eh, I might give them another shot.

We entered the restaurant at 12:30pm (lunch time) and after 5 minutes with no host/hostess or server to be seen, we decided to enter the restaurant and seat ourselves, when we saw a server - told her no-one was in the front. She then got menu's and seated us. We waited another 5 minutes when a server came over and said she will be right with us. After another 5 minutes we decided to leave. As we were leaving we saw a manager and told him why we were leaving. He offered no apology, or even tried to keep us there. Save your time and go to another restaurant.

Went here when they 1st opened, poor service.Marked it as opening things that needed working out. 2nd time when sesame place was in full swing. Again poor service and long wait for food. Now that summer is over figured give them one more chance. No more. While the place is beautiful the staff is still clueless, asked the price of various beers, was told they are all different but waitress had know idea what they were and was annoyed we asked. Proceded to order food which was mediocre at best and way overpriced for what you get. Extra for rice?. There are far better places to spend your dollars. We gave them 3 chances and we're done. From reading the other reviews we aren't the only ones. Management obviously doesn't care and I guess is depending on the unsuspecting Sesame place visitors to survive.

Well the drinks were good......I ordered the Carne Asada Street Tacos - which the menu describes as"Carne Asada, Onion and Cilantro on doubled white corn tortillas. Served with picante and hacienda sauces". What I GOT was some carne asada on white corn tortillas. That was it. When I asked about the lack of anything else I was told "Oh - they've run out of the accompaniments for the street tacos" Eh? So THIS is ok? Eventually brought out a plate with some lettuce, tomato and sour cream. After my waitress said that the street tacos were new on the menu and a bit plain. Seriously? Just serve the food as you have listed it on the menu and if you can't then tell people. Don't try and palm off sub standard food and hope no-one notices. If it were just my meal then I would just chalk it up to bad luck but 2 others at my table had issues too. Will not be returning.

Went to this restaurant on 7/14/14 for dinner with a friend and we found it to be absolutely fine.Have been to many different Mexican restaurants in several states, including Arizona and California, and have experienced good and bad in all places. I thought this establishment was better than average; it had nice decor, was clean, Margaritas were good (we had the blood orange one) and the prices were not out of control for this type of place. I chose the regular chicken fajitas and my friend had a salad with chicken and mandarin oranges--all good, including the sides. Waitress was pleasant and attentive. No complaints from this customer.

Overpriced under portioned food. Everything was too cheesy. The bar server messed up the margaritas and had no clue which was which. The gauc was so small it should have been called tapas size! The chips were not good and the salsa was little spicy and flavorless! The steak tacos had 4 little pc of steak in a 2 inch tortilla and for $12 no sides??? The fish tacos had a 2oz portion of fish and had some weird cream on it. I won't be coming here again! Head down the street to Cancun instead. You will get better food quality and huge portions.

It pains me that I have been eating other Mexican food till now. Absolutely delicious food. I ate the shrimp tacos with the different sauces on top, and that was amazing. Great guacamole, and my wife had the combo fajitas, which was also super! Kira was our server. I recommend you request her if you can. Awesome service and great attitude! :)

  • Jacki G.

Eh, this place is not it. The service is incredibly slow, chaotic and messy. Apps came out literally 30 seconds before food which is a big no no. The portion of guacamole we had was laughably small; think the size of a single scoop of ice cream EVERYTHING was slathered in cheese, to the point where all you could taste was cheese. The margaritas were good, though, but that was after my server brought me the wrong flavor twice. The food here is definitely not worth the price; save a few bucks (hell, more than a few!) and get a much better and way more authentic meal at Cancun down the street.

Service was good, and management understood the issues we pointed out with the entrees. Both our dinners were terrible, and were taken off the bill. It was disappointing. The salsa is not even fresh - it tastes of a jar. We did enjoy the guacamole though . The only shining star of the evening. That was freshly made and excellent.

Hubby and I both got the veggie enchiladas and they were delicious. Huge portions that are at least two meals' worth of food. I appreciate the pico de gallo, which is dressed with lime juice - seems like a small detail, but it's noticeable. Service was friendly also, but a bit slow (this was on a Sunday afternoon).

I can't comment on the food, only the poor service. We went for dinner around 7:00 on a Wednesday night, it was crowded, no surprise there. Nobody even looked up from the hostess desk. Finally someone noticed us and asked booth or table, we said booth. She took us to a table real close to two others and then told us there were no booths. We asked to wait for one, she said something I couldn't hear and walked away and returned to the desk. We waited a few minutes and decided to leave. On the poor service alone I would most likely not return. Cancun, right up the street has great service, they're happy to see you, and the food is good.

We decided to give Las Magarita a try since we live in the area. Our closest favorite Mexican is Cantina Feliz in Fort Washington so we had high hopes to find something closer. First and foremost, there are very few gluten free options, which is surprising, being a Mexican restaurant. The manager had an excel spreadsheet in a like a super small font that was very hard to read, that was their allergy list. He suggested either fajitas or a salad that he was sure was okay. I ordered the salad. The chips weren't gluten free. My salad came and the lettuce was brown, veggies over cooked and unseasoned and it was just unappetizing. My hubbies fajitas were bland. The margaritas were decent. The service was good. I will never go back.

The food was extremely greasy, the margaritas were okay... I hated the pear one. But the mint, cucumber lime one was pretty good. My husband got the pork chimichanga. It was very bland and full of grease an expensive to boot! I got the chicken enchiladas. Which was okay... But again, the rice and beans were bland. We went 12:00 on a Sunday and waited 45 mins to get our food... Would not go again. Would rate this a 0 if I could. The waitress was very sweet! Only positive I can say...

Do not come to this restaurant if you are expecting anything that resembles good service. We have been to this place on numerous occasions. When ryan is working, he takes extremely good care of us and his other customers. Unfortunately, he is not always there, and the rest of the staff sucks. Tonight, we waited a good 15 minutes while the waitresses chatted in a booth across the bar from us. Then a young lady, on her way out of the bar area, noticed us and said, "have you been waiting long?" When we responded yes, she said "oh, sorry." We have had many free meals at Margaritas because of food delivered to the table ice cold. The cheese wad not even melted. Each time we come, it is the same, or a little worse. We come because we like Mexican food and it is convenient. But it is just not worth it. So, Adios Margaritas.

The food was excellent and the waitress was even better (Stephani) especially with the kids. Excellent service!!!

If there was an option for 0 stars I would have clicked it. My wife and I have been here 3 times in absolute awe of how bad the food is. Over the 3 visits the people working there became nicer but the food is so bad that you need to experience it yourself. The guacamole is just an avocado that has been scooped out, the tortilla chips are tasteless and cold ( yes all 3 times). This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to and I have been to several 3rd world countries. If you are looking to waste money and eat an awful, tasteless meal, go to Margaritas. You have to get there quickly I can't imagine it being open for much longer. The fajitas aren't even sizzling when served and the rice is stuck to the flat iron, my wife had to return the fish tacos which where recommended as their best dish. It was just lettuce and a piece of fried fish. It would take me all day to tell you how awful awful this place is, you need to go see for yourself.

I am not in the least bit surprised that this terrible restaurant only has two stars, but what I AM surprised about is that after a year of horrible reviews, they've done absolutely nothing to fix the inedible, disgusting food. Does anyone from their corporate office read these reviews? Oh wait, no, they don't, because that would mean they care one iota about ripping people off so badly with their wretched food. The tuna sliders were not "delicious" as promised. One was so fishy I could hardly eat it and the other had no flavor at all. How they managed that, I have no idea. The pork "street" tacos were so soggy and mushy they tasted more like uncooked wet corn meal, and the pork inside was very obviously reheated in a microwave. Nothing tasted fresh at all. Please believe the reviews saying the food sucks, because it really, really does. Not even the tortilla chips were good. They were stale and had no salt on them whatsoever. I assume they make all their money off of spillover from Sesame Place, when exhausted parents are too tired to care about the crap they're eating. Truly disgusting, very overpriced, and not even worthy of one star. Gross.

My friend and I tried this restaurant and we were so in the mood for good Mexican. Big mistake. Don't know where this chain came from but it falls way short. We ordered fajitas and I sent mine back. The meat was so badly seasoned that I couldn't figure out if the meat was bad or not. What are they thinking?! It's crowded now but that won't last long if they remain so awful. Good service but the worst and most expensive fajita ever. My suggestion for here is pass on by. There are plenty of other choices in the area.

Incredibly noisy and the food is terrible. No flavor, no spice, and unforgivably no salt. I had the tio trio combo and the whole plate tasted like boiled chicken when it should have been 3 different enchilada like servings. The refried beans were bland and the rice was completely forgettable. The only thing with flavor was the salsa that came with the chips.

By far the worst restaurant we have ever eaten in! Steak fajita w/ rice was burnt. Taco salad with beef was drowned in sauce and the side of corn was burnt. The only good thing was the chicken fingers and corona.

I visited Margaritas twice. The first time was a week or two after it opened. I went there with people from work. It took nearly two hours to get lunch (there were eight of us). At that point, I was a little forgiving because they had just opened. The complimentary tortilla chips and dips were good. My food, the Shrimp Quesadilla was good. There was a lot of shrimp and they were firm without being over cooked. The guacamole that came along side was really nice and fresh. I enjoyed the meal. My co-worker ordered the nachos. I wouldn't recommend them. There was a ton of shredded lettuce over the entire plate. So much so that nothing else could be seen. She didn't have any cutlery, so she was forced to pick through the lettuce to try to get some chips. Trying to get a server to get anything was difficult. The chips were really mushy and unappetizing. On a brighter note, someone at the table ordered the Blood Orange Margarita which, I'm told, was awesome. My second trip to Margaritas was a few days ago; at this point I figured that they should have worked out the timing problems. This was not the case. I met a friend who had an hour for lunch. She arrived a little early and sat there for ten minutes without a server approaching her. When I arrived, I tried to make eye contact with some servers, but they looked lost and no one returned my eye contact. The table next to us, who had been eating when I arrived, complained to a passing server that one member of their party was still waiting for her meal. At that point we decided to cut our losses and leave. I didn't have any faith that they could serve us food within the 45 minutes my friend had left for lunch. I was disappointed that they seemed so unorganized a month after opening. I was looking forward to another spicy shrimp quesadilla, but I ended up with a quick and spicy chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A, which was spicy, cheesy and yummy. I will go back and give them one more chance, but it will be my last time if the service doesn't improve.

Margaritas were good- definitely had tequila in them. The salsa was quite spicy, definitely have your margarita in hand before you dive into the salsa. We ordered the guac-- tons of garlic, which I love but this wouldn't be the best date food to order lol. food-- my friend ordered the shrimp quesadilla, I ordered the shrimp tacos. They were literally the same thing, except hers were on their side instead of straight up in taco holders like mine were. Only 2 tacos, 3 shrimp each, for $9.99? Yea no. Margaritas were good; food was not. I'd rather go to Cancun down the street or make the drive down the blvd to Las Margaritas -- I got 4 shrimp tacos with a whole giant plate of sides for $9.99 there!!

Average food but good service. Sangria was lousy in taste and served into small margarita glasses from a carafe without a lip. Messy. Veggie burrito was overly wet; $14 chicken dish was small; cheese quesadilla was good. Took the family. New place so long wait after 7 but we went at 5 so minimal wait. Ambiance is pretty and service was good. Salsa was too hot for the kids.

I prefer Cancun right up the road for food and prices. I ordered a combo of sorts and it was ok.....Nothing exciting nothing gross. The food was pretty bland and mushy the enchiladas tasted microwaved.. I went with coworkers for a celebration and the wait staff was friendly and attentive so that was great, however 25 dollars for 2 beers and Tios Mexican Combo is a bit overpriced/

The only reason to go to this place is the lovely outdoor seating area. Cancun (right down the road) has MUCH better food and service. I'll cut this place a break on service since they're newly opened, but the food is really lacking, and that had nothing to do with being new. Save your money, go to Cancun, its better there in every way.

First of all this is called Margaritas, not Las Margaritas which is a much better chain.Good is not even a word for this restaurant! The servers do not know table numbers, they walk around with food and whoever says they ordered it, get it first! We waited over an hour last Friday for food. Mine came in 35 minutes and my husband never got his. We waited, waited and waited. They claim it was sent out but someone else got it first! The manager did not care how long we were there..He offered to pay, but big deal! We never even ate! Wait awhile till they get their act together!

It is telling that there is one 5 star review and all the rest are 2 and 1 star. The one guy who liked the place came for happy hour. Nobody has a 3 or 4 star opinion. I was assaulted by the noise, then by the décor, then by the server. Really, this place is loud. The obnoxious fake Mexican music blares from unseen speakers and there is no escape. I couldn't escape the completeness of the cliché Mexican decoration. Everything was authentic fake reproduction Mexican. There is nothing classy at all here. I could understand if it was done in an obviously playful style, but this looks rather like someone's idea of what a restaurant in Mexico looks like. I also noticed the army of black t-shirt servers, runners, and bussers mostly standing in groups socializing. They missed a great opportunity to make a good impression by serving warm, fresh tortilla chips. These are so easy to do in seconds when you have a big deep fryer. Instead I got a bowl of cardboard stale chips. The salsa was too spicy for me. I wish they had warned me, or provided an alternative. The server was very attentive. I mean VERY attentive. His sole mission seemed to be to sell us alcoholic drinks. He made four quick trips to our table to suggest drinks, even telling us to allow him to select our drinks and we could send them back if we didn't like them. When we chose lemonade, he served them and his enthusiasm waned. My enchiladas had a ridiculous amount of plastic cheese. Once it cooled just slightly it became stringy, not the good kind, these strings were tough enough to play on a guitar And it was unchewable. I was told it was Monterey Jack. It acted like Latex Jack. To his credit, our server took it back, offered another selection, and took it off the bill without being asked. I left him a 25% tip on the remaining balance. I had hopes for this place. I enjoyed the Uno's that had been here before. Now I think with Sesame Place next door supplying new victims and the impression of cheap, fun food and drink, this place may be here a while. I hope not. It is taking up prime space where a good restaurant could be.

After reading all of the bad reviews, I was pretty skeptical when my friend suggested this place for dinner/drinks one Thursday night. The place itself is huge and the decor is fitting for a Mexican restaurant. We walked in around 6:30 and it was not crowded, so we were seated in a nice, large booth with just enough privacy to gab all night! Our server was friendly and attentive. He started us with free chips and salsa, both of which we enjoyed. I ordered the low cal La Chica Margarita and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. My friend had the original margarita, which was also tasty. I ordered a Mexican salad with steak for dinner, which came out pretty quickly. The steak was cooked medium rare, although I was not asked how I wanted it cooked. I would have preferred it medium but decided not to send it back. The salad was bland and nothing to write home about, but the ingredients were fresh so I was happy about that. Overall we had a good experience and I'd give it another try, even if just for apps and drinks.

This is the 2nd time I've eaten here. Poorly seasoned both times. Food truly has no flavor on every item our group has ordered. Mexican food should be flavorful with no requirements for salsa or Tapatio. I'm done with this place when it comes to eating.

Disappointed!! We went to this location on 7/30, after a trip to Sesame Place for my niece's 2nd birthday. What a disappointment! First off, they were out of kids' menus, unbelievable as this location is next to a very popular toddler theme park. We waited to be seen by a waitress, ordered our drinks and two apps, waters came right away, but bar drinks and KID drinks took about 20 minutes!! In addition, the kids' drinks were not in kids' cups, again - not very kid friendly considering the location. Then we still had to wait another 5-10 minutes for our queso, which we had to ask for. But then the guacamole was another 5-10 minutes, after asking for it. This is when we finally placed our dinner orders. I asked for the kids meals to come out first - they did not. When the food did come, both kids meals were wrong (cheese quesadillas instead of chicken), my meal had refried beans instead of black beans (as I ordered) and my sister in laws' meal never came out ... Not late, never! When we told the bus boy and asked him to get a manager, he came back and told us that the manager was going to find out who the waitress was! What?! He should have come out and spoken to us directly at that point! When we finally spoke to him, the waitstaff manager, he was pretty "blank" in his reaction. A store manager, Joel, finally came out and talked to us and tried to make things better. It was very disappointing, especially considering it was my niece's birthday and we couldn't even make it to dessert to sing happy birthday. The food we did get was pretty good, but the overall experience was no buenõ! We just bought season passes to Sesame Place and would've loved to make a good Mexican restaurant a part of our future visits there... I guess it's a good thing Chili's is just across the road!

Get the $5 margarita and the $1 mini chimi during happy hour.

what a great start!, The decor and Salsa were just great!

I took the time to email corporate about my horrible experience here. They never even had the courtesy to respond back. This restaurant chain is a complete failure when it comes to customer service from corporate down to it's restaurant managers.

  • Jaime F.

By far the worst restaurant we have ever eaten in! Steak fajita w/ rice was burnt. Taco salad with beef was drowned in sauce and the side of corn was burnt. The only good thing was the chicken fingers and corona.

We do.

Not sure why the bad reviews by having a great Saturday lunch. Great service and tasty food.

  • Emily C.

  • Milton A.

Zero stars.

  • Dressel L.

  • Danny P.

  • Kelly L.

  • Hilary R.

    (2)
  • Heather C.

Awful. I don't know what's worse- the food or the service. Save your money and your time and go to Taco Bell across the street.

    (1)

We do.

Zero stars.

Save your money and DO NOT EAT HERE!

what a great start!, The decor and Salsa were just great!

I took the time to email corporate about my horrible experience here. They never even had the courtesy to respond back. This restaurant chain is a complete failure when it comes to customer service from corporate down to it's restaurant managers.

Disgusting!!!! We should have listened to all the bad reviews!!! Chips were stale, food was bland and soggy, kids ice cream was freezer burned. Mojito and daiquiri were awful mixes. Stay away.....

  • Kelly L.

Food was stale, for a Mexican place that cannot make quacomole. The enchilada was not even cooked it was cold and looked like they just put it in microwave and couldn't even do that properly

Don't waste your time or money. This place is really bad. Salsa really hot with no alternative available. Food greasy and tasteless. Cancun is a much better choice.

Not the greatest Mexican in the area but in a pinch it's a good place to go. They do really have good margaritas though.

I don't know why everyone is giving bad reviews. I went here for dinner. The server was extremely nice and on point. My dinner was amazing. I would go back over and over. Well done:) maybe they got rid of the bad servers.

By far the worst restaurant we have ever eaten in! Steak fajita w/ rice was burnt. Taco salad with beef was drowned in sauce and the side of corn was burnt. The only good thing was the chicken fingers and corona.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
