How have I never heard of this place before?! Had dinner tonight with husband and two kids (aged 3 yrs and 10 months). There is a kid's menu, though it isn't on their website, and it didn't feel awkward to have kids. The beer and cocktail list was good and both hubby and I found something we wanted to drink. I ordered an appetizer and entree from the specials and hubby ordered off the regular menu. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and tasting each others'. The food was truly delicious! The whipped potatoes were a real highlight. It was certainly on the pricy side, but worth it! Next time, we'll call ahead and get a table outside. It was great weather, but there was no wait for a table inside (30 minute wait to sit outside) and we opted for not waiting with the kids.

If my rating was based on my server alone, it would be 5 star. But I'm basing it on everything I dealt with the whole night. There was a gaggle of old women next to us the were shrieking and laughing for the hour plus we waited for our appetizer. These old biddies decided to tell at our children for being loud! The nerve!!! As i said we waited over an hour for food, they were kids and they were HUNGRY! Even though the wait was about 1 and a half hours for our food... The food was really good. But unfortunately the overall experience was terrible. We were sat at a table underneath a light that KEPT FLICKERING!!! Your experience may be better than mine... I doubt it'll be worse. But it's up to you.

Amazing food and the staff is absolutely wonderful! We had a wait of about 30 minutes to get our table upstairs on the open air deck with trees and a gentle breeze. Appetizers came out quickly and our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. I can't say enough good about the food. The chef even made an off the menu scallop dish for us upon finding out that it was our anniversary. Pricing was moderate and so very worth every penny. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Carolyn and Doug (bartenders) are great. So is the atmosphere and beer selection. But this place has made the most bizarre decisions over the years. We've been loyal patrons because it's close to home, and we are more and more disappointed with each passing month. Poor management decisions have lead to odd choices in hiring, menu changes where the few excellent dishes are eliminated, increased prices, elimination of specials that brought patrons there, and inconsistency with food quality (raw chicken, nachos with no cheese, medium rare burgers repeatedly cooked to well done, etc. Etc.). It's really such a shame. This place has so much potential. But, they will always make money off of the travelers staying in the hotel who don't know any better, and the many people who just love an outdoor spot in warm weather, so they'll stay afloat.

What a great fun place to go while in Lancaster. The decor is Awesome. The food was really good and seasoned well . I got the chicken and waffles and I never had it served with a chicken stew before , it was really good. They have a really great beer list that has a lot of local brewery on it.

Great atmosphere! We sat on the patio on a 88 degree day and it wasn't hot at all. Shades and fans are well thought out. Eating under the treehouse was great while live music was being played at the bar above. Good burger and fries, a bit on the pricey side ($12) but you're paying for ambience. Our service was A+, ask for Landon!

The scenery was nice, indoor and lots of outdoor seating. Food was good and reasonably priced from $10-$30. Did take alittle while to come out, but it was good.

We went yesterday for our 1 year anniversary and asked to hostesses to seat us somewhere quiet and romantic. They sat us next to a family with small children so we asked to move inside which our server was very happy to help us find a more appealing spot. Our server was Lindsey and she was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. She made our night feel special. I love that they donate 5% of the check to the charity you choose of the 3 options. We sat in the wine room, which was a romantic feeling stone "wine cellar". The table was a beautiful pounded copper and the lighting was low and warm feeling. We had a nice selection of wines and beer to choose from. We started with the calamari, which Lindsey said was awesome and it absolutely was. Came out piping hot, cooked perfectly, and had a really yummy pesto aioli dipping sauce. I ordered the crab cake, which was an enormous, perfectly seasoned cake that had huge lumps of crab. It came with a flavorful basmati risotto and tender asparagus. My husband got the prime rib, which was tender and had a finger lickin good gravy over it. It came with whipped potatoes and broccoli rabe, which were also lovely. My only complaint about the entrees is that they were not really hot. To help us celebrate our anniversary, they gave us two glasses of champagne to toast with and a certificate for our next trip back, which we intend to use! We were treated very well and enjoyed our visit.

I was looking forward to this place mostly because of the outdoor style, but after a full day of Lancaster tour activities outside in the summer, I winded up sitting inside which looked like any regular old restaurant. My wings were not good at all. I had not seen in the menu description that my flatbread would have a pesto sauce base, and I winded up scraping huge chunks of the sauce off and essentially eating plain bread. I wasn't happy with my food at all. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because the server (young man, maybe his name was Mike, but I can't find my receipt to validate) was really good. He was way on point and attentive.

Good reliable food. Burgers, pasta and steaks. Good beer choices. Unfortunately tonight I had the worst piece of beef. It didn't resemble a prime rib. Sent it back because it was raw. Came back and it was still undercooked. Plus it was riddled with tough gristle. The mgr did comp it on the bill

The decor is so cute. From the mini waterfall out front to the tree house--the decor is charming. The staff was supper nice and accommodating, too. They have delicious bread and an amazing butter-cinnamon spread. I tried the side salad, lamb gyro and the Mediterranean panini: both the gyro and panini just did not taste that good to me. Both were very bland. The salad was the yummiest part of my meal and even that was average. I would give this place one more shot in the summer when I can eat in the treehouse !

My wife and I stopped in for dinner (late Valentine's Day dinner). It was our first time there. The atmosphere is comfortable. The menu seems to be all over the place from meatloaf and shepherds pie to blu cheese encrusted filet. I suppose that could be a pro or a con depending on what you like or wanted. The entrees and presentation were excellent and the food was served promptly. The waitress was friendly and attentive (for the most part). The cons... They don't take reservations unless it's for a party of 8 or more. The waitress presented my wife and I with the dessert menu. After making our selections, our waitress returned just a few minutes later to let us know the menu she'd given us was just changed a few days ago and as a result my selection was no longer available. I quickly reviewed the new menu and wasn't interested in anything. Disappointing way to end the dinner. I see this mistake as the responsibility of the waitress and management. If they change the menu, all of the old menus should be discarded. But it's also the responsibility of the waitress to know the menus and she should know what she's presenting. Afterward, my wife and I waited a little longer than we would've preferred for the waitress to come back around to close out the check. Overall a good experience and my wife and I will be going again. We've had better experiences elsewhere but we've also had much worse.

I was here in the winter, so perhaps they will get more stars from me during the warmer weather months where I can enjoy the patio dining. Unfortunately, there is one bathroom for this large venue and it is no where near the bar.

My daughter and I went here on a Friday night. They let us put our name on the list when we checked in so we were able to drop our stuff at the room and by the time we went over there our table was ready. The salmon was awesome and the crab cake sandwich was really good as well. Huge chunks of crab in there. Our server Kelly was so sweet and accommodating and I love that they donate 5% of your bill to a charity (you get to pick from 3 options). Also, we ate on the patio and it was such a nice evening and a wonderful ambiance.

Huge 2 floor outdoor space that sometimes has a band playing, perfect for weekend night out. Good that I've had hasn't disappointed and you pick a charity when your bill comes (3 choices monthly) as they donate 5% of all checks to charity which is a neat feature. Crab nachos were A++

I ate there this evening wanted the great tomato bisque soup that they make and they said their equipment wasn't working so, they would not be able to prepare it. I was disappointed because I went there for the soup but, since I was there is going to eat something. I ordered a basic cheeseburger medium and it came out extremely pink and bloody. Of course I sent it back and it came out so overcooked I could hardly eat it but I did anyway. That will be my last visit to that restaurant. By the way they do have a very good beer selection.

If I were strictly giving a rating on the entree, I'd give it a 5! If I rated the dessert, I'd say 1. If I rated the waitress, I give a 4. And, if I rated the management, I'd give a whooping 0. The seafood pot pie, which was a special, was AMAZING! My husband ordered the Angry Orchard Tortellini, which was also delicious. Dinner was so good, we couldn't pass up on desserts. We ordered the Lava Cake, and I even said to the waitress, "It's going to come out all gooey in the center, right?" She said, "Yes." What came out was a hot piece of old, crusty chocolate cake with chocolate sauce poured on top. We sent it back, and ordered the bread pudding, which was advertised with cranberries and white chocolate. When that came out, it was burnt, and had bananas and caramel????? I actually laughed, told the waitress that we weren't meant to have dessert, and sent it back. When she came back with our receipt, she apologized, and said, "The manager said, "It's cooked inside." We pulled apart the dry, burnt bread and there was one single cranberry, and no white chocolate:( The part that really bugged me was the manager's inability to come to our table and apologize. If he had taken a look at either dessert, he would have realized they were inedible. Shame on the management!

Great space and decor! They have a treehouse feel, large outdoor patio seating and boasts three bars. Huge parking lot bc this restaurant is adjacent to the Heritage Hotel. We ordered their pork two ways, a grilled pork chop with pulled pork mashed potatoes and their seafood linguine with scallops, mussels, and clams. Dishes were around $18 each and good portions.

What a shame. On our second visit to Loxley's I decided to read the reviews to see what was recommended. Since our first visit was enjoyable with great service I thought all of the reviews about bad service must have been exaggerated. I guess we were lucky the first time. Tonight was dreadful! Took forever to get recognized after we were seated. Waitress was disinterested...at best. We had to go looking for catsup ourselves. Couldn't find any. After we told the waitress that we were trying the self service route...it then took her another 5 minutes to find some. The food was actually ok. We like the outdoor seating a lot. But not enough to return. Too many other diner friendly options. Now as Paul Harvey would say.... The rest of the story. I was here with 8 colleagues 4 months after our second visit. The service was spotty. The burgers were good. The ahi tuna sandwich was pretty good. Make sure you stay away from the Mac and cheese and pork entree. It's some Mac pieces spread side by side on a plate with a tablespoon of pork on top. Nice appetizer but entree; really?

Have been enjoying Loxley's bar and restaurant over the past couple of years. Currently showing 30+ beers available, and I am enjoying a nice porter from Deschutes. I have eaten here many times, and the chefs are top shelf. What draws me back is the friendly staff, very helpful. They have bars inside and outside. And easy access to Rt 30. One of my favorite spots.

This is a cute little place, and I assume would be much neater in the warmer seasons. The outside is really, really cool and I can only imagine how amazing it would be in non 20 degree temps. The service has been great for us each time we have gone. The atmosphere even inside is really nice - go to the bar where there is a tree in the middle! I love that. The food we have had was actually really good. Get the tomato florentine soup if you are a tomato soup person - it's amazing. Broiled cheese on top - yes please! I dream of it. It's the best soup in town, hands down. And I feel good about myself because it has spinach in it (we will ignore all the cheese, okay?) Flatbreads are consistently yummy - especially chicken ones. They have really amazing chicken quality - this coming from someone who is completely and utterly freaked out by chicken about 60% of the time. The burger was good and well cooked. We've tried a pasta special that was better than all of the italian places we have tried in Central PA. And the halloumi salad is pretty darn good - they aren't heirloom tomatoes, but they were fresh! Overall, I really enjoy this place. It's quaint. The food is good - it's nothing super fancy, but it's solid, nice American food that consistently makes me want to come back.

We came in for late night appetizers and a couple beers while in town for the weekend. Apparently there was a volleyball tournament full of kids staying in the area, and the place was packed. In spite of this, the staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Matt, the bartender, was very animated and made sure that we never had to wait too long in spite of the crush of people in the bar. We are definitely going to come back the next time we are in town, and hope to experience the outside atmosphere.

If you're looking for a good place to hang out on a nice summer day, this place boasts one of the largest outdoor seating areas. The food is pretty good and the drinks are decent, but it's the outdoor space that makes it great. Bring some friends, bring your thirst, and bring your sunglasses.

I was shocked to see some of the negative reviews for this establishment. I ate here once last summer for a girl's night out. We all thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant and food. The service was wonderful. The atmosphere on the patio was perfect for a night out. I love the idea of the Robin Hood/charity. They had a DJ at the bar and we decided to stay after dinner and have a few drinks. I'd definitely eat here again.

Atmosphere was enjoyable (really cool building with beautiful exterior), food was mediocre (can't cook a burger correctly), service was terrible. Kid waiter who treated customers like they didn't matter, rarely checked on table (attitude made you wish he came even less), made experience lousy. Maybe the positive reviews are left from people who are used to experiencing this type of dining?

Loxley's is a Robin Hood-themed restaurant (as the name somewhat implies). As a restaurant, it serves food. As a Robin Hood-themed restaurant, they give some of your money to a charity. Nifty idea, right? The food was pretty good, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was... Well, strange to say the least. It seemed like I was on the set of a Robin Hood film (I'd have to say "Prince of Thieves" since nobody had an English accent).

    (4)
  • Katrina B.

Absolutely amazing food. The service was also great. We had the crab nachos as an appetizer and they were amazing, Seafood linguine and the tuna dish were our main courses and they were delicious. Will most definitely be coming back next time we are in town. Only negative, it was freezing....could have turned down the air and we probably would have stayed longer at the bar. Not to mention giving a percentage of our bill as a donation to a charity speaks words towards the character of the owner(s).

My review is just for the outside bar area. Loxleys is a bar / tree house that's connected to the Heritage Hotel. As you walk towards the building from the parking lot this place looks like a big kids tree house and I felt like Robin Hood might be lurking nearby. On the lower level they have a dance floor and a large bar surrounded with high top tables. There are stairs on either end of the first floor that lead up to the "tree house / deck" area. If you like to people watch you will enjoy the upper level of Loxleys because you can look right down on the dance floor. There are plenty of tables on the upper level where you can have dinner or just hang out. There are several bathrooms but you need to go inside the hotel section and find them. They are spread out but not too hard to find. There is another bar inside the hotel that you can grab a drink at if its too busy outside. I wasn't expecting to find such a fun place in Lancaster. Its close to my girlfriends parents house so I'm sure we will be back here again.

I was here about 2 years ago and the meal was just "eh". So I basically wrote it off . Friends had requested we meet them there recently. They have done a complete 360 since our first visit. The food was wonderful. The service superb. The manager passed our table several times to check on everything. The mussels in the coconut curry broth were outstanding. The crab mixture over asparagus was tasty. Trio sliders were great. A good solid meal. The best part was the 5% of check total donated to your choice of 3 non profits. Kudos to Loxleys. Looking forward to Visit #3.

This place was horrible!!! We can't even rate the food because we waited 1.5 hrs to get our entrees and they still didn't come so we actually left!! Server was horrible, had no explanation for where our food was or why it was taking so long. We just ended up leaving. Never going back again!!!

I tried the forest tea and that was a great drink. I ordered a cheesesteak without tomatoes and lettuce and it came with lettuce and tomatoes. Sent it back and they took out the lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cheese yes the cheese too. I figured I try my luck with another glass of water and the glass was dirty. So non-professional opinion come here for happy hour and nachos.

This place, as a restaurant, is excellent. Appetizers I recommend include crab nachos and crab dip. The outside seating is the way to go here. What I loved most included: - extensive menu, including long cocktail list - choose a charity that a % of your bill will be donated to, without them jacking up the prices to account for this - service is friendly and knowledgable. When back in the area, I'll be back here. Come here with a group of friends, date, mothers or father day, or even for a few beers by the outside bar. Big place. Very nice. Impressed.

Went to Loxleys for a few cocktails and some apps. Our waitress Emily was superb. She was so friendly and attentive we never had to wait for a drink and when the kitchen was running behind she let us know right away and it was only a few minutes that we had to wait. The apps we had were very tasty. On my next trip to PA I will definitely go back, hopefully Emily will still be there smiling :)

Disgusting. Nothing labeled but obv the eggs...bacon...everyone knows..had to guess what the drinks were. Saw a bunch of rotten bananas..yuck. They had an ok selection at the breakfast buffet but I dont like my breakfast lukewarm esp not the OJ!

This is a review I almost hate to write, as I really want to like this place. It has a great facility and an amazing deck, but.... it is VERY OVER-PRICED! Picked up the "lunch" tab for 4 business associates the bill was nearly 40 dollars - we had 1 order mozzarella sticks, 2 cups (not bowls) corn and crab bisque, 3 fountain drinks and a coffee. The soup was very good, and the staff was accommodating, but 40 dollars for lunch when nobody even had an entree is out of whack - I know there are more affordable options with as good or better food.

Don't know how people are able to use to words "fine-dining" when describing Loxley's, but all I can go on is my experience and it wasn't great! This experience was Easter Brunch with my boyfriend's family, about 10 of us total. PROS- A variety of rooms and places to sit which made it a more intimate dining experience, which can be hard for a party of 10! The restaurant looked remodeled, maybe in the last few years and our waitresses were very friendly. CONS-FOOD! The food was pretty awful.. the buffet had hardly any selection and looked like an elementary school came through and had a food fight on the counters! Mac and cheese was covered in gross canned cheese, raw in the center "beef", low quality salad bar, and if you could find the right moment when most of the food was stocked you could maybe fill a plate with a few things you could eat. My boyfriend's Uncle did the right thing and ordered the $20 okay-looking hamburger off the Easter menu... however anyone who is not a meat eater could only get the $17 buffet. No vegetarian choices on the menu. OVERALL- Atmosphere was not bad, I can imagine it wouldn't be as bad a spot in the summer for a beer and some bar food, but $17 for an AWFUL buffet, just was not worth it. The food is not up to par with the prices. Go somewhere else if you want REAL food.

Really neat place to eat if you are looking for something different . I've been there 3 different times and the place was never "packed" but the service is always slow. The last time it took 10 mins for our server to greet us and give us menus. We ordered drinks from the bar and they were all awful. The food is delicious though! I love their sweet potato fries! They also donate 5% of your bill to a charity you can choose from which is pretty awesome!

Loxley's - Robin hood theme. I was very impressed, so much so that we are going to have our wedding rehearsal dinner here. The nieces enjoyed a make your own pizza and loved it, sister-in-law amended a chicken dish to fit a healthy conscious version (they were HAPPY to amend; steam, no butter), and I had a glazed salmon with asparagus and cheddar mashed potatoes. The food was delicious and very well plated.

Like Kristi S, our family (of 7) also made the mistake of dining here for Easter brunch. Clearly they were overbooked and unprepared to handle all of the diners. As previously mentioned, the buffet was always half stocked (if that) at any given time, and the line to even get into the buffet room was always at least a 10 minute wait. So a 10 minute wait to get into a room to find that most of the trays of food were empty. The roast beef was raw as was also mentioned, but not only was it raw in the middle, it was dry and tough on the outside. I love rare meat, but this was not rare. Other than that, the food that we were able to scavenge during our many trips to the buffet was pretty good. The buffet area was not clean by any stretch of the imagination. There was food thrown all over, the are was a mess, and the omelette and pasta stations had their topping containers out in the open where people had to reach over them. Someone in our party noticed a long hair that was not only in the container of black olives, but seemed to have been wrapped up in them. He handed the container to whoever was manning the pasta bar and gently and quietly told them to get rid of it, and explained why, and they acted like he was being ridiculous. I'm very glad he waited until we left to tell that story, or I would not have eaten. The last complaint is that dessert wasn't included in the buffet. What buffet charges extra for desserts? Especially a buffet as terrible as this one was. I have never seen my father-in-law, who is very easy going, so disgusted at a restaurant as he clearly was with this place. We will be looking for a new place for next year.

Better restaurants in Lancaster area for the price. Have eaten here a number of times because it is convenient to work and home. Food tends to be under seasoned but presented well and the atmosphere is nice. Unfortunately you can't eat presentation or atmosphere.

Wonderful place for a nice meal! Every time I go I have a difficult time deciding on what to order--everything is so delicious! They have creative dishes that keep you coming back, but at the same time have the old favorites--just in case you've got a craving for a good old Bacon Cheeseburger. Their portion sizes are mostly good--but also an expectation when you're paying a little more. The atmosphere is fun and different! And I love that Loxley's has a theme--they took their name from the famed Robin Hood of Loxley, who stole from the rich to give to the poor. They carry on that legacy by donating 5% of every bill to one of three charities--your choice which one! The only thing that keeps me from rating this restaurant a "5" is their servers. They seem to have few seasoned employees and each time I've been in I've had to wait for a hostess while I watch other servers scramble around. They always seem just a bit rushed. But it's certainly not so horrible that I would not reccommend the restaurant!

I'm not sure why I only gave this place 4 stars my first time out but I will have to look at it (the review) again. I love this place. My Outlaw Salmon entree was fresh, just the right amount, cooked perfectly and damn tasty. Bar is great combo of whatever you want and the tenders are the best I've seen. And friendly. They want to only know your name first before anything else takes place. That's smart and honest customer service. Doug was jumping around tonight as the bar was packed, unlike the last time I was here. And he doesn't miss a beat or drink order or need. You are the man Doug! Met some nice friendly locals including Krista. Thanks for the conversation Krista, Doug and others! I would absolutely be back for this consistent product, service atmosphere and experience.

Neat place to take kids because it has a Robin Hood theme to it. The food was average, but the service wasn't. That might be worth putting with just for the kids. But don't go there expecting anything more than upscale mickey-d's.

The best thing about my whole meal was the sweet potato fries... Too bad they weren't worth the $12 meal that they accompanied. My "crab melt" sandwich left much to be desired. The menu talked a good game, but it was simply two bland crab cakes on an English muffin with tomato and melted cheese. My friend's barbecued chicken sandwich was super tough and looked dwarfed by the massive, doughy roll it was served on. Our experiences dissuaded us from getting any drinks. In addition to the lofty prices with featured drinks starting at $6.

Had a nice family meal here on Saturday night, 7 adults, 1 baby... A couple of food snafus but waitress Kelly compensated very well, without being asked to do so. Nice atmosphere inside and generally good quality products and service. I've been to the outside arena and really like that vibe - in good weather of course. We'll be back. Thanks again Kelly, you deserve to be recognized favorably by management!

Go ahead, ask her if the tree is real. We ate at the bar here - supposedly this joint has some sort of Robin Hood theme, but we just didn't see it. I'm fine with that, as I was in no mood to have some man in tights taking my wallet and giving it to some homeless guy. Regardless of the identity crisis, the place had pretty decent food and friendly service. Crab nachos were pretty awesome, as were the pulled pork sliders. The rest of my party also seemed pretty happy with their safe yet tasty selections. Also an added bonus - we had some great conversations with the locals about the Amish people and Intercourse, PA, which is right next door - a must-visit when in the area.

This place is a joke. Maybe I'm a snobby New Yorker, but 90% of our experience was pretty bad. The only reason why I'm giving two stars is because our sever was AWESOME and did a good job making up for our sub par evening. My mother-in-law wanted to take my husband and I out for his birthday and suggested Loxley's. She spoke pretty highly of it and we were happy to go. My husband made a reservation on Open Table around 2 pm for 8pm. We later changed the reservation around 4pm since his brother decided to join us. So we get there at maybe 5 of 8 and give the reservation name to the hostess. She then says we're not on her sheet and asked if we booked online. We said we had that afternoon. She then replied that she printed the reservations at NOON and that's why we weren't on the list and that it would be maybe a 15 minute wait. Seriously, why even be on Open Table if there's no computer/tablet at the hostess stand??? So a few minutes go by and I'm very loudly discussing with everyone else how Open Table is supposed to work. Yeah I know, passive-aggressive. My husband and I decided to wait a few more minutes before we would get aggressive-aggressive. Luckily we were sat. We sat outside at two tables pushed together. We were quickly greeted by our server and were set up with drinks and gave our appetizer order. Great, we were totally ready to let the Open Table thing go. Our apps come and the food runner tells us to be careful because the plates are hot, and then proceeds to put both apps on the the same table in front of me (did I look that hungry?). As I'm reaching to move a plate to the other table (years of working as a waitress has hardened my hands to hot plates) the server comes over to set us up properly. Okay fine, at this point I'm realizing that this is no where near "fine dining" and just try to enjoy my evening. We started with the crab nachos and fried calamari. I give the nachos a C+ and the calamari an F-. It was over battered, chewy, and drowned in some sort of teriyaki sauce. After our apps, we waited over 25 minutes for our entrees to be served. I understand that when you order your apps and entrees separately, timing can sometimes get messed up. But that was really way too long. Then everyone's food came out except mine. Okay the food runner can't carry everything, but why did I have to wait 10 minutes for my meal? The server kept checking back and was visibly upset that everyone was waiting for me to eat. My steak finally shows up and of course, it's way over cooked. How does medium rare translate to well done? It doesn't. My steak was dry and an uneven temp throughout which means that it first was not cooked properly and then sat in the window under heating lamps for way too long. If I hadn't been so hungry and waited so long I would have sent it back. I gnawed on my murdered steak and tried to just keep up with our dinner conversation. While everyone else said their meals were beautifully presented, the taste was sub-par. At the end of the meal the waitress is clearing our table and asks how everything was. My MIL's husband mentioned to her that my steak was not cooked properly. She offered us a free dessert to make up for it. We had no intentions of spending any more time there, but the offer was great. In the mean time, they are setting up the place to become a dance club. They set up a bar right next to our table. At the table next to us there were people doing shots and smoking. I'm not opposed to any of this, but why mix two clearly distinct crowds? We passed on dessert and the waitress took off all my drinks, one nasty mojito and two glasses of malbec. That definitely shows that she cares. Now if only the rest of the staff cared as much. Needless to say, we will NEVER be back to Loxly's! I know Lancaster is not NYC, but this is NOT in any way fine dining. Crappy service, even worse food.

All of our food was very good. We went during the winter but the outdoor seating area looked great. Multiple people at our table were celebrating birthdays within a 5 day range and they gave them each free full sized desserts from the menu.

Loxley's was new late in the summer of 09. I've been here 4 times at the time of this review, so allow me to give a fair assessment. I give this place four stars primarily for the unique decor, social atmosphere, and overall experience. Atmosphere: Loxley's decorative motif is inspired by the whole "Robin Hood" theme. It's basically a big treehouse on the outside and a secret den on the inside. I've really never seen anything like it. My favorite part about the place is the social atmosphere. There is always an eclectic adult crowd - fun and upbeat minus the obnoxious college kids. It was very crowded on the weekends and nice evenings, but not a sardine can like the Brickyard. Food & Drinks: I went for lunch and had the wrap of the day which was a crab salad wrap with a side of fries. I give it a B+. I ate twice at the bar\lounge area and had the burger topped with crab and the southwest burger. Both were fantastic. The sweet potato fries are great. The last time I was inside with a large group and had almost every appetizer and a sirloin medium rare. Both appetizers and entree were well prepared and satisfying. Not exactly Ruth's Chris, but good enough for the price. They have an average selection of beer and wine, but a fun array of signature cocktails. I haven't had dessert, so I can't comment on that. Overall the food and drink is average to above average. You wouldn't go there just for the food alone (maybe a beer and burger). You would go there for a fun time with friends and a satisfying bite to eat. Service: All the servers I've had have been great. If you eat in the bar area on the weekend, you have to work a little harder to get noticed. Which is fine, seeing that there's a few servers for about 50-70 people. The service has been just fine for me. Summary: Don't go here if you're a foodie that can't stoop to the fare of the commonfolk. Don't go here for a fine wine list or amazing beer selection (go to Olde Greenfield for the wine, Quip's Pub for the beer). Not the best choice for a private, quiet, and romantic anniversary dinner (though there is nice seating inside). Don't go here to get plastered and carted home. Do go here for a good Lager (and by "Lager" I do mean Yuengling) and a great burger. Do go here with lots of friends. Do go here if you're a local - chances are you'll see someone you know. Do go here early in the evening with kids - they'll love the treehouse. Do go here if you're one of those crazy Ren Faire people - you could probably stay in character... actually no, don't do that. Do go here for a fun time and overall good experience. Hope this helps!

REALLY good food and fine-dining style service in a family-friendly casual setting and with casual dining prices!

I have been here several times, and everything has always been pretty good. Service is not always what it should be, but the food quality has generally been good. Nice concept with the decor as well.

Loxley's has a great outside atmosphere and the food selections are fantastic as well. My favorite thing to order is the Crab Dip Nachos. They are an appetizer but they give you so much that you can easily eat it for a meal. Make that 2 meals. I have yet to be able to finish a whole portion by myself. I've had 1 bad experience there, but it was taken care of quickly. We ordered cheese sticks and they had been left in the fryer to long so there was no cheese left in them. The waiter put another order in for us and left the ones which had a slight amount of cheese in for us to munch on while we waited. I love that they donate 5% to a charity of your choice (from the 3 that they support). Some of the servers are hit and miss. Most times you'll get a good one, but I have had some who barely make eye contact, don't check back unless you flag them down and some who are slow even when not busy. I keep going back though, the food can't be beat and sitting out on the deck in the summer is relaxing.

My boyfriend and I went there for a dinner and we were the only people in the restaurant. The service TERRIBLE. The waitress walked past our table at least 4 or 5 times without refilling my empty water or even acknowledging us. The food took forever to get to our table and we didn't even get the right food. The food was also sub par, the steak wasn't even seasoned, it just had A1 sauce on it and the crab cake wasn't worth the price, I could have made a better dinner for less money if we would have stayed home. Also the waitress charged us twice for our dinner (once with the tip, and once without), we noticed this recently when we got our bank statement. The decor was nice but we will NEVER go there again.

Just recently started going to this spot on Friday nights, and it's quite awesome. The whole outdoor tree-house feel is very unique which gives it a good atmosphere. There is a DJ on the lower level who spins his beats throughout the night. The people here range from young college kids, to your middle aged businessmen and women. The prices are fair for the drinks as well. You can get this tall cylinder type of glass for your favorite beer draft as well. It holds a very generous amount of beer, so it pays to buy in bulk, right? The lower level seems to develop some sort of dance floor towards the end of the night, but it's nothing to get excited about. Overall I think Loxleys is a great spot to hang out and have some drinks. My only complaint is the location (wish it was downtown) but hey... can't have everything, right?

I absolutely love Loxleys! The decor is amazing. It's a great place to eat. I haven't had anything I didn't like yet. This is also a very fun place to hang out with friends. There is a DJ on Fridays which is super fun. All of the staff are very helpful and nice. The sweet potato fries are the best!

I am "a local" and enjoy trying new places. I have heard good things about Loxley's and decided to give it a go! Terrible terrible! First, the decor and seating is nice. (This is what earned the second star.) We ate inside but the outside part is definitely the draw to this place with seating around fireplaces! The hostesses (2) were less than welcoming. One was engaged with what seemed to be a personal phone call. We were seated in a booth with a TV (which seemed out of place for Robin Hood theme). Did I mention the kitchen crew were outside in the parking lot playing football when we were walking in?! FOOD: nachos were missing guacamole, Cobb salad was missing bacon, burger was undercooked (asked for well), bread pudding was hard as a rock, and when I ordered the "seasonal specialty drink" the hot spiked apple cider" I was told they only have it on weekends! The waitress was nice but offered no apologies or discounts for the mishaps. She also took awhile to come back to check on our meals. (my salad was almost gone by the time my bacon came). Total disappointment! I guess it would be OK to drink outside with friends and order appetizers after we had a few....but I wouldn't go back sorry!

I love Loxley's, this is a cool place, and it's definitely not like anything you'd find by hitting one of those ho-hum chain restaurants on 30. The food is great, the service is exceptional, and the atmosphere and decor is totally unique. I also love this place because it can completely transform itself depending on the time, day or occasion. It can be a hot spot on a Friday or Saturday night, a great restaurant during the week, or a great place to catch a game with some friends. I make sure to go there whenever I'm back in town, or even driving through on business.

Loxleys was initially a failure of an establishment. After an onslaught of emails to management and a good month of ironing out the kinks, it has turned into a great spot for moderately overpriced food and drinks and an overall great time. There's a bartender named Scott (not me) that works there who is a grand champion bartender. He will treat you like a valued patron, which is awesome. Loxley's offer a Gorgeous atmosphere you can't find anywhere else and delicious food. I recommend dropping by. By the by, Doug the bartender is borderline insane, but he means well.

Food was amazing!! Open faced crab sandwich. Staff was friendly and service was exceptional!!! One of my favorite places around Lancaster and York. The ambiance is exceptional, and the outside deck is awesome. This is a must for anyone in the area!!!

We went here because we read that the theming was really good. From the outside it was nice. There is an outside bar and lots of outside seating with heaters. But inside, it is just like any other restaurant. Fine, but not what I hoped. Food was good, kids meals included drinks. Bill was reasonable. So, glad we went, but won't be back soon since there are so many other options and places to try.

Made a bad decision to patronize this restaurant. A bartender totally ignored my wife & I and my wife had to flag a bar maid down that she had been served by on previous occasions. The fish tacos were a disappointment and the atmosphere was circus-like. I compare it to "Renaissance Fair" meets McD's. Sent an e-mail to management and they said, "sorry, please come back." The end. There are other restaurants in Lancaster w/decks & entertainment that are much, much better.

We have stopped here for lunch a few times & had a pleasant experience BUT when we decided to try Loxleys for dinner, it was a HUGE disappointment. The dinner menu is very overpriced for the quality of food. The shrimp in the Cajun pasta bowl were smaller than a dime, the kind you buy in a can. The Salad bar was sub-par and not included with your entree, it was $5 extra. Service was ok but the wait staff is not properly trained. The ladies room was out of order, so you were directed to the hotel lobby next door. I think Loxleys capitalizes on the captive audience with the tour groups that stay at the hotel and really aren't concerned with return customers. We won't be returning.

I came in for lunch, food was so so. This is more of a drinking and appetizer type place. Service was good and quick. I liked the atmosphere and outdoor area a lot.

The atmosphere is really neat inside and out. They have a cool outdoor area for the summer where they have an outdoor bar. The food has all been pretty good there with things like pitas and upscale bar food. However, one time I went and they gave my fiancé order to another patron sitting across from us at the bar and mixed up their meals. Instead of copping to it the server was like no this is what u ordered. Eventually, we got the manager involved bc the difference btw a ribeye and a sandwich is pretty big. The manager who I don't think works there anymore handled it after some talking. So I wasn't super impressed by the service, I mean mess ups are normal but to act like nothing happened is annoying. However, since I like the food and ambience I'll give a 4 star rating.

We went here for a friend's birthday last Saturday night. We got to sit outside, which was very nice. We waited about 15 minutes for our server to greet us, and when she did she said "Hello, I'm ******, oh wait, did someone already come over here, or no?" When we said no, then she continued her script. We ordered drinks and our food at the same time. The food came out fairly quickly, but our drinks were all empty and were left that way for over 20 minutes. When I finally asked for a refill, the server giggled and said "oh my, I guess I'm a bad waitress!" Yeah. I got the Pork Loin and it was dry and seemed to have been microwaved. One other person in our party got this as well. And BOTH of us woke up the next morning with FOOD POISONING. Just disgusting. That was worst experience ever. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. The food is terrible, the waitstaff is terrible and chances are, you're going to get sick.

I went here on a date because of the cool atmosphere, but in reality was severely disappointed in the service. I had a reservation, but we arrived 30 minutes early. Instead of seating us right away (which they could have), they told us to wait at the bar and they'd seat us at our reserved time. The bar tender was in a bad mood. He seemed to be too busy making drinks for tables to attend to those of us sitting at the bar. Then, there was a miscommunication and we didn't see a waiter to even get drinks for over 30 minutes after being seated. And that was because, we got up and told someone. The food wasn't terrible but it wasn't anything to write home about - just average. Once we finally got a server, she was attentive. This was not the experience I was expecting, and unfortunately, I probably won't go back because of it.

The facility is impressive beginning with a pond packed with Koi fish under a bridge. The restaurant imitates a fortress style keeping in line with their Sherwood Forest/Robin Hood theme. Unfortunately, you expect great service and food to accompany the lovely setting, but that is where Loxley's needs improvement. The waitress was dismally attentive, and the food was plain average. The restaurant has room to grow.

The prime rib was rubbery. Tasted like it was re-heated in the microwave. And this was a special offered on Valentines Day! Garlic mashed potatoes tasted like they were out of the box. Salad bar was OK but with too much wilted lettuce. Soup was mediocre. No bread served with the meal. Got some bread sticks when I asked for them. Service was good. Too much cleaning solution smell in the place. Atmosphere OK. Good bar. Cannot give more than 2 stars because prime rib was the worst I've ever had in a restaurant. Didn't even finish the 10 oz "Queen size" portion.

I liked this restaurant a lot. We were seated in their tree room, which is a circular stone room with a real tree growing right through the middle of it. The menu is broad enough for everyone, be it meat and potatoes, or salad lovers, or mac and cheese crowd. We made sure to dress business casual, not only because we were celebrating a birthday, but because this type of restaurant seem to call for it. However there were many around us who were down to their T-shirts and shorts. Our server Mabel has worked there for fourteen years, she said, and she was perfectly good at her job. I also like the fact that they donate a portion of their receipts to one of 3 charities a month, with a new roster of charities every month.

Just had lunch at Loxley's today with my in-laws. We ate out on the porch- nice setting. The food was so-so. Crab and Corn bisque could have been warmer. The turkey panini sandwich was supposed to be on ciabatta, but the roll was soft, like a kaiser roll. But the biggest issue was the service. Three out of the four of us ordered soup- two soups arrived together, the third came about 5 minutes later. When lunch arrived, the Strawberry Goat Cheese salad was missing the grilled chicken. Three separate times someone said they would bring out the chicken. It finally arrived after everyone had finished their meal. Finally, it took almost 20 minutes to get our check- we finally had to stand by the door to get someone to bring it out. We will not return.

I work close to Loxley's and had been there before at night, which I think is a good time - as others have pointed out the place is great as a nightclub. However, when my colleagues and I decided to give it a shot for lunch, we were greatly disappointed. the food was nothing special - the typical assortment of lunchtime sandwiches and salads. The food wasn't horrible, but it wasn't unique either. It cost more than it should have... And I'm speaking with experience with the other restaurants in the area. Finally, make sure you read the fine print on the whole 15 minute lunch guarantee thing.. Because there's a lot of it. I thought it was a great idea on their part.. But it isn't executed correctly and is just a burden to the customer.

Been here several times. The wait staff ranges from awesome to aweful. All depends I guess. Mother's Day found us here, and as always the food was awesome. I chose the brunch buffett and found it lacking. More my fault than Loxley's, before ordering I went and took a sneak peek . Gut said pass, but my mind was made up on buffett food. My girlfriend and her daughter orderd from the menu and loved their food. I should have ordered the salmon, or sliders, cannot go wrong with those. Our server was delightful, even making a minor gaffe. Beforte their meals could arrive, she came over and cheerfully asked how was everything....umm still waiting...... Still fries were ordered and the daughter asked for melted cheese on the side. Not something they usually do. She brought over a small container of deliciously melted cheese, that to the end was contersted over my my GF and her daughter. Little things like that increase tips, and make memories....

I recently celebrated my Dad's 85th birthday lunch with a group of fun "seniors". Loxley's was the perfect place for a fun time. We sat at a large square table so the conversations included everyone and that helped to make the lunch a success. Our server, Jake, was fabulous! He was helpful with the menu, he stayed to chat several times, and he gave us great service throughout the whole lunch. The menu provided a good variety of choices and the sweet potato fried were delicious. Some people in our party had the salad and soup bar and the rest had sandwiches and soups. Everyone was pleased with their choices. Loxley's allowed us to bring our own birthday cake and they even provided candles and a lighter, since we forgot those items. The restaurant atmosphere was nice and the lunch crowd wasquiet. I'd recommend Loxley's for a lunch time celebration and ask for the square table. I'm looking forward to going back for dinner. Another good thing about Loxley's: a percentage of your check goes to one of three charities that you choose. Our server kindly explained the charities that we could choose from the day of our visit. This giving continues the Robin Hood theme of Loxley's.

Went here for dinner based on an acquaintance's recommendation and the reviews here on Yelp. The food was nothing special. Probably the best thing we got was the Corn & Crab Chowder, but it certainly was not healthy for you! Made with heavy cream and butter. The burger was just a burger. The sweet potato fries were pretty good. The Greek salad with chicken was not bad, but definitely had better. If you are looking for good beer, this is not the place! Same with mixed drinks. Overall, it seemed overpriced for the quality of the food and drinks. There are many better choices in Lancaster city, which we will stick to when we want to go out next time. At least we tried a new place, but I can't say we will be going back here anytime soon. It is cool that they give part of their proceeds to local charities. More places should do that. This restaurant seemed like a good place to bring a large party, though you'd probably want to make a reservation. One final comment, the outdoor seating was nice, with the tree and the outdoor bar area.
