The staff of this restaurant cleary has neither regard nor respect for their customers. Shocking, considering without customer, there is no business. During a recent visit to Kevin's, my three dinining companions and I waited 90 minutes to receive our entrees. In addition, after we finished dinner and our plates were cleared, we waited another HALF HOUR for our bill. This all came after the servers spilled a martini AND olive oil on me. The saddest part of this dining debacle is that no one apologized for the wait for dinner, the wait for the bill or the spills. This staff demonstrated copmplete apathy. It was my first and last visit to a restaurant who clearly doesn't care if I'm there anyway.

Kevin's is a fantastic alternative to steak houses around here. While the dinner menu isn't as robust as some of its competitors, it is quality over quantity that matters here, and it works. The most impressive feat here is value. I ordered the hangar steak over risotto special and it came in at $20. That's obscene. At most upscale establishments, a special is going to start at $29.99 at LEAST. Even here, our orders of crab cakes were $26 each. I was stunned to see how little our final bill was, even with drinks. So, huge win for Kevin's on the price. Also, the crab cakes were exceptional. Light and tasty, they were mostly crab and less cake. Too many restaurants focus too much on the "jumbo" in jumbo lump crab cakes and you get more stuffing than crab. Not here. These things are built to go. My only other advice is to allow yourself some time here. Like any decent restaurant, you're going to wait a bit for drink specials and trademark steak dishes. Just enjoy having the time and money to not care. Also, ignore a lot of the descriptors on Yelp. Kevin's Web site clearly states the attire here is casual and the place is recommended for the whole family (it has a kid menu), and most dishes are $10-29. Kevin's is not as stuffy as Yelp reviewers make it out.

1st time here for new years so may be a bit different on a normal day... BUT We were a larger party and were put upstairs which was very, very small and kinda difficult to navigate. The food was mediocre at best. I had the filet mignon which was pricey and definitely not the best piece of meat I have ever had...The vegetables were cooked nicely though! I also sampled the chicken with mushroom sauce but this left a lot to be desired as well. The chicken breast was way too thick. Not sure if I would repeat this little excursion.

I enjoy the atmosphere and the menu selections/seasonal changes. Drinks are always good. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is lack of consistency. I have had the same entree two weekends in a row and it tasted noticeably different. The same with the Caesar dressings.

cool little place.. Didn't even know it was there... Went here for a Christmas party and had a buffet style food. I must say everything was great I would love to come back one day for dinner. Would defiantly like to visit again when I'm in the area.

The most consistent restaurant in the are in my opinion. The staff is friendly, and the food is well thought out, and creative.

This restaurant definitely deserves the Woohoo! As good as it gets rating from Yelp! I went to Kevin's for the first time with my family this past weekend. I have lived in New Jersey for the past 12 years about 10 miles outside of NYC so have my choice and often frequent some really fabulous restuarants. Let me tell you, the finest NYC restaurants have nothing on this place! The food was amazing! We started with the Calamari Fritti and the Stuffed Portabello. The calamari was the best I've ever had... cooked perfectly, not rubbery like it is served up in most places and the Thai dipping sauce and hand crushed tomato dipping sauce served with the calamari..fab! I had the Prime Pork Rib Chop which was outstanding! My family and I are big on trying everything everyone else orders. I can honestly say that each bite sampled was better than the next! The filet was cooked perfectly just as my mother ordered it! The desserts also blew me away! The carrot cake and pumkin cheesecake so yummy! Even the homemade salad dressing on the salad that came with dinner was fantastic! Enough about the food! I'd also like to rave about fabulous cocktails from the bar (The Pomogranite was sooo good!), the great atmosphere and the excellent service! The portions were very generous and we certainly left there more than satisfied! I can't wait to go back on my next visit to PA!

I had a great experience here on a Saturday night. There was no wait, and the service was excellent. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. It's a bit hard to find, but we made a lucky turn down the alley in back of Wyoming Ave and there it was.

Pleasantly surprised. Service good, not great, but efficient and friendly. Food fresh, tasty and aesthetic to the eye. Crab sliders delicious. Filet served at correct temperature. Highly recommend.

We are in the Wilkes-Barre area from Los Angeles to visit family and chose to have a friends "reunion" of sorts at Kevin's. With eight meals in our group, each one was nothing short of spectacular. We enjoyed the ambiance (classy and upscale but not stuffy) and the friendly, warm service by our server and the staff in general. Keep up the good work ... we'll definitely be back!

We have dinner out quite often and have eaten at Kevin's a few times, the food is good but the service is horrible. Last night we arrived for dinner at our reserved time and had to wait about 10 mins at the bar for our table to be cleaned. We didn't mind however once seated we sat there for 30 mins without one server acknowledging us. Not to ask if we needed a drink or even introduce themselves. I can understand being busy but to wait that long without anyone coming over is unacceptaable. We decided to leave and eat elsewhere. We were glad we did had a great steak at Ruth Chris and the service was spot on even in a very busy environment. There are many good restaurants in our area so in order to keep customers, service is key. I won't be going back.

Never had a bad meal at Kevin's! I go to Kevin's frequently with friends and always have great service and unique food. I've never had a bad experience. They recently changed owners, but the management seems to be the same. As does the great service and food. I have to give their team lots of credit, not many restaurants can make that transition as well as they have.

Ok, so the food was good but the overall experience was the reason I have this place such a low rating. My family tried several of the dishes but the most expensive dish, lobster risotto, was the only downer. It was too watery, bland, and the lobster was overcooked and chewy. Everything else was very good. Good food aside, my problem is with the service. The place was severely understaffed with one waiter and a bartender who was also waiting on tables. We waited so long between courses that we weren't hungry by the time the main courses came out. I swear they were growing my salad out back. To top that off we ordered dessert which also took forever to come out. Since they didn't have enough people working, we even had to wait on water refills. In the end, I wish the service matched the food. If it did, I'd actually consider coming back.

The food at Kevin's is fantastic. We have enjoyed the food and flavors multiple times. What disturbs me is the fact that on certain evenings the quality of service changes. On the last occasion I made a reservation for two for dinner and spent over $125 on dinner- and yet the help felt it okay to shut down the music and the entire establishment early. They advertise 5pm till close - yet close is determined by whim of the service staff. We ordered a four course meal with wine. We arrived for a 7:30 reservation, yet the music and service shut down at 9:30pm without warning. The music was cut off and no servers were to be found. There were still multiple tables looking for service, but the staff had decided the evening was over. We must rethink our inclination to visit Kevin's again.

This review is long overdue, considering this is one on my favorite places on earth. I've experienced nothing short of perfection from this establishment. In trying to recall the memorable things I've eaten, rack of lamb, dry aged steak, sea bass, seared scallops, super fresh top quality oysters, house made pasta and calamari with tentacles are having a battle royale in my brain. I've excluded tonight's meal from that list so I can single it out. I had a cowboy cut pork chop paired with a fig and molasses barbecue. The sear on this cut was not only visually beautiful, but had a crisp bite that accentuated the tender, rare interior. Every bite was a divine pleasure. Speaking of rare, Kevin's is one of the places that takes the request seriously. They consistently nail meat temperature, and take me seriously when I look them in the eye and say "rare, please." Another note-worthy attribute is their cashew/dill house salad dressing. Unique and to die for. I've had several creme brulees here. All were masterpieces. I was skeptical of a jalapeno and apricot creme brulee. It seemed strangely pretentious, until I took a bite. All skepticism was eradicated by pleasure in an instant. Service is professional and just as attentive as it need be. I always feel appreciated and cared for, even tonight when going there was a last minute decision that left me looking like common gutter trash in jeans with paint on them and an old t-shirt reserved for hard labor. With every exit, I think "I've died and gone to Kevin's."

Not jumping directly to 5 stars - only had one meal there. If the rest of them are as good as the first it will definitely jump to 5. Crab stuffed mushrooms - lots of very tasty crab, great plate presentation. Seafood Risotto - shrimp, scallops, lobster and mussels toping Risotto with a spicy marinara. Fantastic. Great Salted Carmel cake for desert along with a fresh robust cup of coffee. What a great meal. Will definitely be back, so much to choose from. Attentive wait staff (not a very busy night) great atmosphere.

This is my manager's favorite dinner spot so I didn't have a choice but I never regret it. The French onion soup is very tasty and one of the best I've had. The Cuban spring rolls with a side of honey mustard is great and recommended. My main course, Hanger steak, hit the spot after a long day.

Date night with the wife Saturday, not too busy day at high table near the bar. Server AJ was excellent . Not pushy very knowledgeable and a great guy. Staff was buzzing around very efficiently. Order Blue Points oysters and they were fantastic, the minuet(so) was very good. Entrees were the Red Snapper and my wife had Scallops both of us enjoyed very flavorful and just the right portion. Drinks were spot on made by AJ. I think this is one of best NEPA fine dining establishments and will be returning again.

I've been here a few times, and after tonight's amazing meal, I finally feel compelled to write a review. The food here is nothing short of amazing. Seriously, I've never had a bad bite. Tonight I had the hangar steak, which came with yellow and green squash and hand cut thick fries that were dusted with a kind of barbeque rub. It was like Heaven on a plate. The steak was the second best I've ever had...the best was the dry aged steak I had here a couple months ago. The steak was tender, juicy, delicious, and cooked to perfection. It came with a blue cheese sauce that I wanted to drink it was so good. The squash was also incredible. Examples of other dishes I've had here include tuna tartare, lobster bisque, the dry aged steak mentioned before, and a creme brulee so good I could've bathed in it. The drinks here are also fabulous. I recommend the white sangratini.. A perfect combo of white sangria and fruity martini. Yum! I've only ever eaten at the bar, so I can only speak to the service there. It has been impeccable and attentive every time. The restaurant is small and initimate and would make a fantastic date spot. Definitely worth the money!

I went to Kevin's because it was one of the better rated places in the area. I was actually a little bit disappointed. I am a real foodie and I was expecting some really good food. Overall, it was OK at best. We had some of the menu highlights, including both types of sliders, Calimari, lobster mac and cheese and the Penne ala Vodka. The kobe sliders were pretty good but not the best I have had. I am looking at the menu right now and the other type is not on their, I believe it was some sort of fish slider, maybe tuna. The calimari was pretty good and certainly the highlight was the Lobster Mac and Cheese. It was very rich and very good and was easily the highlight of the menu. I have a weak spot for mac and cheese though. The building was really cool, sort of an old warehouse vibe. I know this particular building went through many iterations as a coffee house and so on. I would give the ambience a 4, but this is a review about the food and overall I was not impressed by the the flavorfulness of it nor the price of it.

Would have given it 5 stars but the service was atrocious. My waiter, not sure if his name since he never mentioned it(clean shaven head and glasses), was not interested in us as customers. The food was outstanding as always, as I have been here multiple times and can say I have never had anything that wasn't delicious. It's sad that good service is overlooked sometimes but some people shouldn't be waiters. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone, if you get bad service let your tip reflect that but bad service is worth quality food.

Kevin's is a gem. I've been here twice, and both times my meals were simply excellent. Their menu is interesting, changing, but not overwhelming. I love the simplicity of their dishes. Their house dill dressing is creamy and amazing. I've had their oysters both times, and I liked them - they were fresh and tasty, but a little sandy. Kobe beef sliders were tiny burgers of perfection with just enough horseradish to give them zing. Last night, I had the Veal Limone - it was tender and breaded perfectly, and the sauce (OH THE SAUCE) was perfect. I like a LOT of lemon in my piccatas and lemon sauces, and this sauce delivered; The tart cut right through the buttery flavor of the veal. Service was perfect - I tipped over 20% because she totally deserved it. We had a big party full of food-lovers and she handled us wonderfully; we wanted for nothing. I seriously couldn't ask for more from this place. AND they have prosecco! Can't wait to return!

Went there with my fiance's family not long ago. Had a great time there. Food was great, service awesome, and the price was worth it. I'm I going again? You bet. The place I think is really cool and great atmosphere.

I had some drinks and appetizers here the other night. The pear martini is pretty dang good. It's a bit hidden in the back of the parking lot but I was pretty happy I found it. The decor in the restaurant is pretty nice, a high industrial lofty feel. There were a few separate spaces, a room for events and also and upper level for parties and things. The oysters here were pretty good, although a few of them had some grit in them. I love the little tiny bottles of Tabasco that come with them. I had the kobe sliders which were perfectly done (I like mine soft and pink in the center). The meat was flavored well and the buns were fluffy and good. I also had a order of the fried calamari and they were surprisingly quite good as well. The rings were sliced small and there was just enough batter on them (not too much). All in all I had a pretty great experience here. The servers were friendly and helpful, and I would definitely come back.

First off, this place is not obvious to see from Wyoming Ave. If not for the large sign, you'd never know it was there. The interior definitely took my off guard the first time there. Didn't expect it to look that upscale. We ordered Lobster Mac and Cheese to start as a appetizer. Highly recommend. For the main course, I choose the prime rib pork chop with plum wine bbq sauce. Melts in your mouth. If not for how pricey it is, I would definitely go back more often.

Thank you Yelp for helping us find Kevin's. We got stranded in WB for 4 days due to Sandy and were on our own for food. Delicious can't even begin to describe it.

I went in with high expectations and honestly Kevin's fell short. I ordered the dry aged Ny Strip with Madeira Sauce. The meal was ok. I asked or it med rare and it was seared nicely on the outside but a but rare. The sauce was cold and didn't add much flavor to a flavorless dish. The mashed potatoes tasted instant and the green beans were under cooked and again lacked flavor.

I had the Yellow Snapper with rice and steamed veggies. I got a plate with a non flavored fish in broth that tasted lame and the rice was ok. My mother had the Veal Parma and it was fantastic. My choice was terrible and that....was the special. The menu is great and not huge. They place is very nice and the deco is very trendy. Other than that, a bit loud. I guess people in this town yell while they eat. The place has a high roof and its made out of tin. Maybe thats why it's so loud. The waitress and service was fantastic. Prices are ok and it's very trendy. Dress up nicely for this one.

I wanted to update my previous review as I have been to Kevin's two more times since I went on Valentines Day. I think my less than great service on V-day was just because it was a holiday, but the next two times I went have been awesome! Both times my boyfriend and I went were on a Tuesday because now we really love oysters after trying them on Valentines Day. Again, I honestly can't compare them to much because this is the only place I have had oysters on the half shell, but they taste good and seem very fresh! One time I had the BLT Chicken which is chicken, bacon, lobster, tomatoes over mashed potatoes with a sauce... it's amazing! Definitely as good as it sounds. Boyfriend and I went again last night for oysters and we got a ton of those so we just ended up getting two appetizers and shared everything. We had cheeseburger sliders which were absolutely delicious. The meat was cooked medium perfectly, there was cheese, caramelized onions and a horseradish sauce, I would definitely get them again and I also am interested in trying their regular sized burger. The sliders were our fave last night. We also had an order of the lobster mac and cheese appetizer and it was also really yum! I love lobster mac and cheese and it didn't disappoint.

I had high expectations from Kevin's and I was not disappointed. My visit was early (5:30) on a Saturday night with my parents. We had reservations but they were not needed and the restaurant was empty when we arrived. I thought, "uh oh, a dead restaurant on a Saturday night" but the server even mentioned that it will be crowded by 7 and he was correct. The restaurant has a modern industrial feel and I was told by my mother who grew up in the area that it was a paint production facility when she was a young girl. Our server was John and he was phenomenal. Very knowledgeable about the menu and had that nights specials memorized. You could tell from the way he presented himself and the menu that he was genuinely excited and passionate about the food and his job. A great deviation from the typical annoyed and/or uninformed server. He honestly took Kevin's from a 4/5 to a 5/5 on the review scale and should be the benchmark for what a good server is. On to the food, I started with the soup de jour, a chilled strawberry bisque. It was perfect and hit the spot on a warm evening. It was sweet yet brought out the tartness in the berries with what I believe was an infusion of yogurt. A nice light start to the meal. Salads came with the meal and their freshly prepared cashew dill dressing complemented the field greens and ripe tomatoes perfectly. For the entrees, I ordered the house specialty 22 day dry aged NY strip, my mother had the crab cakes and my father ordered the veal parmigiana. This is honestly one of the best, most perfectly cooked steaks in NEPA. The dry aging added a depth of flavor I've never encountered and the degree of doneness was perfect at medium-rare. They clearly let the steak rest after grilling as the juices were reincorporated and did not run across my plate. It does come with a very unique sauce. This usually indicates that they're trying to hide something but in this case, it was a very fine drizzle on about 1/4 of the steak and onto the plate for dipping. Once again, a home run. I sampled my mother's crab cakes and they were lump meat through and through with minimal filler. Very similar to the best crab cakes in Maryland (G&M Seafood if you ask me). Plated with a nice remoulade. The veal parm was pounded very thin and the portion was huge. I did not sample but my father said it was very good. Overall, Kevin's was a great experience for me and I've already recommended it to a few of my friend who appreciate great food.

We have the calamari a for an appetizer and it was excellent, I had the free range chicken with pasta And my husband had the herb roasted chicken. Both dishes were excellent, but the service was poor. If we would have have good service, we would have rated them a five star!

We ate at Kevin's last night for the second time (after having gone to their previous location 31 Lake Street a number of times) and had a fantastic meal! The appetizer special was great, the salads were just right, and the entrees we all had were fabulous. The menu leans a bit towards Italian, but it has a mix of everything, so everyone you're with will be able to find something, including a kids menu. All the dishes are done well - we had veal florentine, fettucini bolognese, risotto fra diavolo, and the carmelized scallops, and everyone raved. The service was excellent, and the bar and wine list lived up to the menu. I would definitely recommend Kevin's to anyone looking for a great meal at a restaurant with a cool atmosphere!

We came to Kevin's for dinner on Black Friday. I was really blown away with the quality of the food. I had some good meals at their previous restaurant, but this dinner exceeded any meal I had at 31 Lake Street. We started out with a dozen oysters from Martha's Vineyard. The oysters were very fresh and exceptionally clean. Everyone had a different salad, and they were all very good. The vegetables were very fresh, the dressing was homemade, and the presentation was great, even with the house salad. My entree was a dry aged New York strip. I've had some really bad dry aged experiences in the past, but the steak at Kevin's was phenomenal. A fantastic cut of meat with almost no fat. It was also cooked perfectly for a medium rare steak. For desert I tried the chocolate cake, and it was just as good as everything else we had that night. The service was great too. Overall, probably the best non-Italian dining experience I've had in the Wyoming Valley.

I'm only giving it 1 star because I can't go any lower. I tried ordering off the menu and waitress wouldn't stop "upselling" on their fabulous steaks not on the menu because they are known for their steaks. A little overcooked and no seasoning but it was ok. I receive the bill and find out the strip steak I order is more than the filet??? The filet it her own words was "mushy". A $40 over cooked steak when they wouldn't give me what I ordered. Horrible service and not a good time. YOu cannot leave this place with less than $100 bill for crappy food so stay away and go somewhere else.

I've only eaten here once for a work function but the food was so good and the atmosphere was so well put together you could just tell that this place does not disappoint. It's not cheap tho, but definitely one of the standout restaurants I've dined at in the area.

Had a hard time finding it, with it tucked back in a parking lot off the street. Not anything to look at from the outside, but the inside is nicely done. Was a very slow weeknight, but waiter was pretty good - even with the ballgame on the TV at the bar. Caesar salad had soft croutons, probably from being made hours or the day before. Salmon was cooked just right, but should have been trimmed to get rid of the fishy dark meat. Chutney was ok, but not a lot of flavor. They need to "kick it up a notch or two" and put something, anything in there. Overall, I'd eat there again. Roll with sundried tomato & olive oil was exceptional.

Kevin does an exceptional job with both his staff and kitchen. I have eaten there several times and I have never been disappointed. Starting from his excellent ceaser salad, aged steaks to the orange roughy, the food and service is outstanding.
