As area residents we used to be regulars when our family was young. With the kids long grown and gone we hadn't been back in years so we tried it out. Some of this was curiosity over all the low ratings it earned from others. It was a late breakfast and uncrowded so we really can't say how they handle a crowd but we got seated immediately the hostess and waitress were polite, prompt, and attentive. Our coffee cups were never empty. Most people in there were families and I think that is their strong point, great for families with something for everyone on the menu. It was clean and the food while not exciting or special was well prepared for what we paid.

Service was fast and friendly. From seating to getting the meal everything was fast efficient and the meal was delicious. Even the restroom were clean. Blake was our waiter and he was very friendly and always had a smile on. Thanks for making the end of our night awesome.

4.5 stars. Just a little confusion about getting us seated but that was resolved quickly. Food was shockingly great considering its a chain. I had a yummy salad with crispy cold lettuce & a perfectly grilled turkey order on top. The kids menu is pretty varied & includes healthy veggie options. We tried the hot fudge ice cream sundae for dessert. It was insane. Too good for words. The place is a little old but our waitress & her trainee were helpful & sweet. They brought out our orders promptly & checked on us frequently. All food was served @ accurate temperatures. Bathrooms were clean. This is a good options for families visiting Hershey.

Cold coffee ..cold food ..meh service ..what a disappointment ! Friendlies does Ice cream well ..I'll give em That ..but needs to polish the rest of its menu ( I was there for breakfast with my mother and was underwhelmed By the selection ) as I stated. Earlier the food wasn't hot ..neither was the coffee ( no regular btw ..they were " Out ") ..not in a hurry to return

Stopped in for a sundae with my fiance late at night. I would have to say that the server and host were rather friendly. The ice cream is as always very good. Endless selection of choices.

7/20/2014 Time: 8:00 p.m. Well let me start by saying that when we walked in, the hostess was holding her head up with her hands. She then said in a stern voice, how many. I told her 2 and she snatched 2 menus and walked us back. Threw the menus on the table and said here, walked away. Not one smile. In watching her the rest of the time it was the same thing to everyone. The server did not offer much different. The server did not smile once through the entire meal. She also did not check back except to see what we needed to order. She did not even bring the food out. The food was good and we had to steal ketchup from another table since the server did not feel the need to put ketchup with the fries that we ordered. The dessert was good. I would never return to this place. It is bad that EVERY picture in the place has smiling people. Not one human in the place smiled that worked there. Then towards the end of the meal we found out why. The Manager came to the table and with no personality or smile asked how it was. We did not even answer and he walked away. **STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE** there are many others in Hershey that are WAYYYYY better.

Nothing terribly Friendly about this place. We just stopped in for ice cream and due to not having a dedicated person on the counter for ice cream, even though there was a steady stream of people there just for ice cream, the whole experience took almost twenty painful minutes. The ice cream itself was freezer burnt and tasted like some bizarre combination of ice and cardboard. No Mas.

I remember Friendly's being a busy, fun. And inviting place where all the young folks hung out. This place was like walking into the lunchroom of a run down nursing home! The only people in there were about 5 tables of really elderly people at what would be the busiest time of day for any restaurant or ice cream shop. This place is big for a Friendly's. There were only 2 people working. One in the kitchen and one working the floor and register. We were given dirty menus. We were going to eat there but decided just to get ice cream. Took a really long time for a small sundae and a shake. Never checked back with us. We watched as the old folks across from us were trying to get the waitress attention for ketchup but were continually ignored. There were few people in the place so there was no excuse. I got up and went behind the hostess station and got the ketchup for them. Maybe this place is better during the summer when Hershey park is in full swing but it's no excuse for the way it is run in the off season. We won't be back.

Been going here for years, on and off, when we visit Hershey Park. They renovated the place in the Summer of 2013 and it looks great. Nice service, decent food with healthy options and a clean restaurant for a fair price - what more do you want on vacation?

Compared to the Friendly's from where I am from, this Friendly's was horrible! Stopped here to eat breakfast before heading home and from the start the service was terrible. The host seemed like she could not be bothered with working. When we finally did get sat, no one took our drink orders for a solid 10 minutes. Then the HOST took our drink orders and brought them out. After that, it was another 5 minutes before we even saw our server. Put in our order, got our food and we were finished fro a good 15 mins before our check was brought to us. And another 10 before the check was taken from us. An easy 30 minute stop took well over an hour, uneccessarily. Wasn't pleased at all!

  • Jeannie B.

They ignore you when you walk in. Bad management and bad food compared to other friendly's locations. Don't bother going to the ice cream counter for takeout, no one will be there. Bathrooms are also dirty.

I was in Central PA and decided to venture to Chocolate World in Hershey. I saw this wonderfully colored Friendly's off the road when I missed my exit to Hershey Park. We had breakfast. The place was a little crowded so we had to wait a little which I was fine with. The Cook took our order. He was very nice. The entire staff was pleasant. I had the Ham and Cheese Omelet, with Rye Toast and Hash Browns. It was very tasty but the Ham was cut into very small cubes and too dry. Overall, I enjoyed it. My son had pancakes and sausage. The sausage was spicy but very good. He barely touched the pancakes. My wife had the French Toast and was not pleased with it. If I was in the area I would go again.

We have been trying to eat at this restaurant for a week. My daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday there. We kept being told, "we have new cooks in the kitchen," that there was a 15 minute wait when there were open tables, and that the food is taking an extra 20 minutes to come out. Really? You're near the biggest tourist attraction around and you can't be more professional than that? AND the place was dirty? Forget it.

  • Ceasar B.

I don't particularly think Friendly's is a good value, but it's not horrible either. This one in particular due to its location at least has very fast service (since very few people are around) and it happens to be open on Sunday unlike most things in town, so while not exceptional, it's awfully convenient. As for the food itself, I got a Vermont burger on wheat. To my surprise, they were not allowed to cook it rare which was slightly disappointing, but the food itself was reasonably tasty if somewhat small, and undoubtedly a bit too greasy to be healthy.

Very slow, bad service. Under cooked food always.

  • David N.

Wait time is at least a half hour to be seated when there are empty tables. Food does not meet the price. And there is NOTHING "friendly" about their service. Don't bother just stay away. Epic fail.

Went for a quick breakfast before heading into Hershey Park. Food was good. Hot. Coffee good. Hot. Service was friendly.

Breakfast at 9am on a weekday. Fast and friendly service. Didn't wait long for anything.

We just stopped by for ice cream, but there is a restaurant there as well. The ice cream was good, probably a little above average. It might have been the night but the service there was horrible. We probably waited at the counter for 15 minutes to order and there was only one person in front of us in line. The restaurant side wasn't that busy either. If I lived in Hershey I'd give it one more chance.
