Aroooogahs!! Good name for a bar turned club at night! But that's about the only cool thing about this place. They have good drink deals at night but that doesn't help the fact that you are screaming over the loud obnoxious drunk people to order. The waitress was pleasant and i really felt bad as she was being harassed by two train wrecks which they eventually kicked out. The only reason I gave this place a 2 is for their Mac and cheese and burgers which was surprisingly delish. I wouldn't trust this place after 10pm unless you are looking for an unruly drunk crowd.

The expectation when you order a bacon burger it has bacon on it and not in the meat. Also when you tell a server that the TV closest to you has an infomercial on ladders and you want it changed...that they would do so, but it never got changed. They need to be more observant.

Went there for happy hour -1/2 prized drafts, the drink sized were reduced ....not pint glasses, I dont mind paying for what is advertised, but this is false advertising... the food was ok 3 out of 5

Ohhh Aroogas. I really do miss this place. For being a chain, I thought the food was great. The menu is huge - the size of a small novel so there's something for everyone. The wings are their bread and butter, and they were always good. If you're looking for something different, try the crab pretzel. A little non-traditional but out of this world. The cookie pizza is a naughty desert if you have a sweet tooth. For being a smaller restaurant, the wait staff can be slow at times. The live bands they book can be god awful. This location is right downtown so it's a great place to start or end the night. Sometimes we never made it out.

Good service but I didn't like where the server were talking in front of customer. The manager did take of it. Don't get plan wings they have to get sauce. I think it is a good place (a bit pricey) I would go back again and tell other people about it.

This was the first time I have been to Arooga's in a few years. The management was terrible as well as the server. It really sucks because the food was amazing. She was inattentive and aloof. The manager had no clue what he was saying and it caused a stir. If you want good food then get it to go. The service sucks.

Nice beer selection I will give them that! Food was just okay. Wish I would have gone back to the same place I visited the night before, which was my original plan.

Absolutely terrible, the service and food. Ordered food and did not receive it an hour later. Asked about the order and claimed they did not know why we had not got our food, then did not compensate for any of our charges. The wait staff was a joke just awful. Rude and inconsiderate.

I sat at the bar for at least 15 minutes waiting for service and the staff working the non bar area saw me there as well as what appeared to be a manager and at least 2 of the other bartenders. Guy behind me saw me there for so long he mumbled 'I cant believe your still here' and I promptly left.

We sat down got ready to order and the waitress kindly informed us that they were so slammed they weren't allowed to take orders for another 25 mins. We got up and left.

Writing this review purely because the happy hour is such a joke. When my fiance and I originally went for the happy hour downtown, we both settled on a few high gravity brews, so we weren't surprised when the glassware was 8 or 10 oz. After going for trivia one evening and receiving a standard IPA in a similar 8-10oz glass, we realized that they actually pour all of their beer in these glasses during "half off half the amount of beer sad hour." That is absolutely atrocious business practice. They should be embarrassed. If you want to enjoy a legitmate half-off happy hour, I would recommend Anthony's, McGrath's, Shady McGrady's, or Brewhouse Grill.

I LOVE Aroogas! There are always great food and drink specials every day of the week. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious items which are customizable with various sauces and seasonings. The wings are delicious, and there are so many wing sauces to choose from! We get fast friendly service and love hanging out there. On the weekends they have DJs and it's a lot of fun. Great place to eat, drink, relax, and enjoy good times with friends!

Great location for a drink on a sunny afternoon. Unfortunately, that's it for the good news. Service is very slow, hence only two stars. Them seem consistently understaffed. It's not unusual for the bar area to be handled by a single, overwhelmed bartender. I can't comment on the food because I've never had anything to eat there.

Food is decent like all Aroogas locations but service here was not great. Waiter was good but the manager ignored us for 30 minutes and 2 requests to put the hockey game on.... Hello this is a sports bar with tons of tv's and the manager couldn't put on a hockey game! It's sid's first game back!

The service was great! Food was horrible, ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and the chicken was not even 1/4 inches thick, roll was dry and crumbled, fries were cold. We had a party of six my husband who got hotdogs and son got wings said there food was good. Would go back for expensive beer and wings.

The food is good but the service is horrible. Last night they had PumpkinFest, and so we expected it to be busy. However, Aroogas clearly did not plan well or something because once we got our table, we waited at least 45 minutes before somebody acknowledged us. There was a girl who was serving the five other tables around us (we were outside, and there were about 6-8 tables) but didn't even glance at our table. Finally a man, who did not seem to be a server, came up and asked if we had been waiting a while and he took our drink and food orders. He continued to serve us the entire time, and luckily he was incredibly helpful and friendly and made sure we got everything we needed. However, he clearly was not supposed to be our server.... He seemed to be all over the place and didn't have the proper order taking tools (at one point he wrote our drink orders on his hand) I understand that it was a busy night, but I have worked in restaurants while in college and when you have special events, the restaurant should know to schedule extra staff, or hire competent ones in the first place. That initial wait was completely unacceptable.

if you like sports, loud dance music, darkness, shitty people & food that all tastes like it came from a bag, this place might be for you. i've tried to like you, arooga's. i've tried many times. the kitchen here is one of the only places open late night, so when i have guests from out of town and they want late night food and drinks, this is usually the place i grudgingly go. the last few times we've been in we've had the same horrible waitress. she's so slow that you usually get your food before your drinks. last time we walked in the place had been turned into a club for friday night. we took a table in the back. it was so pitch black that we couldn't read the menus or see each other. it was so loud that we couldn't talk to each other, or even hear ourselves speak. we left after sitting there for a good ten minutes without a waitress even coming up to the table. if you're lucky enough to get food, be prepared for a let down. the cheeseburgers taste like the mac and cheese tastes like the hot dogs tastes like the crab dip tastes like the wings taste like the chili tastes like the salads... get the picture? everything is loaded with preservatives and tastes like it comes from a bag. i get it. it's a chain sports bar. it's always full of people and they have a billion locations, so like i said before: if you like sports, loud music, shitty people, watered down drinks & situations that end in a possible stab wound--you might just love arooga's.

Very nice Bartender. But Didnt like the sub roll. BREAD. too much bread. Bread, whats all the Bread4? U give me this much bread I expect that much MEAT. More Meat. I guess i gave them 4 stars Bc I like the huge menu offering. But remember folks the table comes with a personal t.v. not a A.E.D. heart paddles. So watch out for all the delectable types of mac. N cheese. Huge mac n cheese selection. When its not bikini season n its ok to gain 10lbs. Bc layers people need more layers. I'll b back to stop my heart with 12 lbs. Of cheese Fantastic onion rings.

I really like Arooga's, but who doesn't love wings, beer and sports? The menu is a lot bigger than just wings and beer though! There are so many choices! It's honestly a bit overwhelming and can be a tad pricy! You can find some good deals at certain times. I've done the AYCE wings from 5-9 on Monday evenings and it's worth it if you're going to eat a lot. I've come in late on weeknights before as well and the bar tenders are always helpful and kind. Some of the beers and drinks are expensive. There are lots of choices! I usually go for wings when I come in. Tons of flavor options and you can't go wrong there. I also like the size of the wings. One complaint I have is that sometimes it takes a very long time for a server to take your order and then it can be a long while before the food even comes. All in all, I'd say this is a quality sports bar. Compared to a Buffalo Wild Wings I'd say the wings are better! It's so packed on weekends at night, just as a heads up!

Stopped in here for a few drinks and something to eat with a co-worker. I h ad the boneless wings / rib combo with fries. The garlic parm wing sauce and the honey bbq rib sauce were both quite tasty. Friend had the Philly cheesesteak. The wings were cripsy, ribs, fall off the bone. Mubfriend said the cheesesteak was very good. Our waitress was top notch... Friendly and prompt. The have curb seating but it should be noted, they turn into a night club around 10pm.

If you are going to watch a special game then you are in the right place. Sadly I was not there for anything other than to grab some quick dinner. The place is set up in an odd capacity with multiple levels that were bound to put someone right next to you from another table. The food was only so so... I had appetizer platter and wings... the wings were... good... but certainly not any better than wings anywhere else. The appetizers tasted like they had been effectively dehydrated before they arrived at our table. The service... this is where all the stars were lost. First was a hostess that said only the word "Come" so we did and she walked us through a mostly empty restaurant to a table right next to a large party. Now I know that it is normal to seat people in the close section of the active servers but when I was there with a colleague and we both had notebooks with us. Obviously we were gonna try to get some work done. So why would you seat us right next to an already loud and active group. Next came our waitress... very quickly and took our drink order and literally ran to get our beers! And we got started. Then she took our food order and refilled our beers. Then promptly vanished never to be seen again. The kitchen eventually brought our food out to us and as stated it was nominally enjoyable. And then we waited. After our beers and plates had been empty for 20 minutes and no one was stopping by to deliver our check we both checked our wallets. Turns out the cash on hand was probably a few dollars less than what we guessed the bill would have been. After much thought and trying to flag someone ANYONE down decided that they owed us those few dollars and just dumped the cash we had and left.

Not disappointed. My wings came out hot crispy and saucy. My burger was perfect. My beer was cold. Not very busy for Saturday lunch which suits me fine. The bartender is very friendly and easy on the eyes. I can't wait for the warm weather to come and the garage doors to open.

Waited 20 minutes for a server on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Server was rude when the hostess asked her about not coming to the table. Manager avoided discussing the situation and only made excuses for why he wouldn't come to talk to me. Will not go back. Table next to me waited the entire time I was there for a check.

We had a nice leisurely meal here on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress was attentive but didn't rush us. The menu is so big we were over-whelmed, but enjoyed the four horseman sampler and the peanut butter pie. In addition to this they made our three well behaved dogs very welcome! We'll definitely come again! :) The wings sounded great, but we were too full to try them!

In search of a beer and a plate of nachos (yes, Saturday night went late...) we walked past Aroogas and the open air bar on one side of the building. There were lots of outdoor tables, but we needed to be out of the bright light of the sun, so we ventured indoors. They have a great draft beet list, and a huge menu, from wings to deep fried hot dogs... We shared a plate of buffalo chicken nachos, because, I mean, why not combine the two? Spicy and delicious, cheesy, and hit the spot. My meal was the cheese steak wrap with provolone, my friend had the chicken caesar wrap, and both were decent. This is bar food, not fine dining, so we got exactly what we expected. The food didn't wow us, but it was hot and it did the trick. My cheesesteak was hot and had lots of cheese which I love, and a good amount of peppers and onions in the wrap too. My friend's onion rings looked tasty too. We were there right before a Flyers game, and I think the deal on Sundays was $5 pitchers of MIller Light or Bud Light...

One of my favorite spots when I'm in Harrisburg. They've got an excellent selection of draft beer (with plenty of rotating craft choices from all over the northeastern US), an extensive (even if very predictable bar-style) menu and a whole bunch of TVs. If you're looking for a cool place to go hang out and grab a good beer and some decent food Arooga's is a winner.

The Pittsburger is the best burger I've eaten ever. I didn't even need to add any condiments and it was incredibly juicy. The egg was cooked very well, as well. Service was great even though they were short staffed. Would definitely go back again.

Utterly disappointed with this bar. Went on a Saturday night with two friends to watch the NASCAR night race at Bristol. We arrived around 7:30 and were seated quickly. I requested that they put the race on two of the televisions around our booth and they filled my request quickly. That's when everything started a rapid, downhill slide. First the service. It took about 15 minutes for our server to realize that they had seated someone in her section. We were seated in a corner booth, so OK, maybe I could buy that. But then she was conspicuously missing throughout the night. The server aside, the coordination of our meals was awful. My friends both ordered wings and I ordered a sandwich. The first wings came out, followed by the second order 15 minutes later and then my sandwich 15 minutes after that. For fast and easy "bar food" that is unacceptable. Onto the food. I can usually overlook bad service for exceptional food, but the food left much to be desired. As an appetizer, we ordered the Aroogas Baseballs. They're essentially mini strombolis about the size of a baseball and you get three flavors; stromboli, buffalo chicken and cheeseburger. They were good, but not great and the cheeseburger tasted like dough filled with ground beef. Meh. The wings were well cooked but sauces were not as good as they sounded on the menu. I tried the "almost everything" sauce which was good but overpowering. I also had the "Rhino" sauce which I would not recommend to my worst enemy. Its advertised as "totally different hot sauce with 8 secret spices". Apparently the first four of those spices is Old Bay because that was the only one you could taste. Its so intense that its hard to finish the wings. Awful. The sandwich I ordered was the Pittsburgh Pretzel which is based on Primanti Bros everything on the sandwich style. After waiting 30 minutes after the first order of wings arrived, I was ready to eat. They put the sandwich down and voila, no pretzel roll, but a hamburger bun. I was starving and not about to send it back so I let it slide, but come on, the word pretzel is in the name! The toppings had all fallen off the top of the mountain of ham on the sandwich so I had to reconstruct it on my plate before eating. At this point, I wish they would have let me go to the kitchen to make it myself, at least it would have had the right ingredients and been on time! We all left feeling bloated and disappointed. Can not say I'll ever be making a stop in an Aroogas again.

The service was very good, even though the restaraunt was packed. My waitress was quick to fill my drinks, the wait for food was only about 10- 15 minutes. The prices weren't terrible considering the amount of food served. Huge selection of beer.

  • Lou L.

This place is really not a great place to eat. The beer selection is decent and the wings are hit or miss. When they are good they are great, but they can be awful at times. The service is generally poor, which seems to be par for the course for all Arooga's. The wing sauces are probably the best thing about the place.

Update: My sister was visiting from NJ today, and when I described the downtown options to her for lunch, she chose Arooga's... If it was possible for this place to care any less about food standards or customer service, I'd fall over. How do you screw up a buffalo chicken wrap twice for the same customer in a year long period? Same issue. I watched our waitress write "no bc" on my order, yet my chicken wrap came out with blue cheese. I immediately pointed it out to the food runner, she apologized and took it away. It came back a little too quickly, and sure enough, the chicken was DRY as dirt like they reheated the same chicken and threw it in my wrap. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS PLACE. The last time this happened, I was soooo upset because of being pregnant. I sent an email to them expressing how extremely frustrated and upset I was, and IT WAS NEVER EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED. I'm so done with this place. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

A fun atmosphere. Lots of people and friendly staff. Got the pretzels and cheese as an appetizer. The cheese was a little runny and the pretzels were a bit off. Had the chicken sandwich and the buffalo sauce was not quite right The beer menu was great, lots of nice choices. So I might give it another try because it Was fun but The food was pretty Average

If you are looking for great sports bar that has a fun atmosphere, terrific service, delicious food, and even better service, this is the place for you! Probably the best choice of wing sauces in Harrisburg and they will mix any combination you like! The bartenders and wait staff are friendly and above average. There are tons of tv's as well as a giant projector screen in the main dining room. In the nicer weather you can also sit outside and they open up the sides of the bar so it has an outside bar feel. The completely revitalized menu is loaded with bar food favorites as well as specialty items like their Philly Cheesesteak, Kobe Beef Burgers, and Flat Bread Pizzas. You really can't go wrong with their domestic beer pitcher prices and their happy hour is the best in Harrisburg by far! Half off everything! Check it out for guaranteed satisfaction!

Half sports bar, half horrible attempt at a "night club." Service is ok, and the only reason it gets two stars is because the food is generally good. The chicken wings are good, but honestly go to Momos or Zembies if you're in the mood for wings. Avoid this place at night, particularly on the weekend. Additionally, they charge a fee for take out. Update: I went back again recently to give this place another shot--as I live within walking distance and the lack of open places on Sunday. Once again, the food is good but the service is awful. The staff doesn't know the proper up charges for wings and I ended up being charged over $16.00 for 10 wings (when the wings are .59 ¢ a piece) after being charged double for everything because I split a wing order. Their staff needs to know the proper prices and be more informative. There is always an issue with this place. Basically, if you're in downtown go to Zembies or Momo's for the same quality wings at half the price (and cheaper beer).

The absolute worst restaurant I've been to in all of Pensilvania!!! Their steaks where dry, drinks were not good and their service sucks!!! Like pre-gamed (drank an adult beverage) before arriving to the restaurant. Ordered the same drink I've been sipping on (JD Honey straight) and it tasted nothing like what I was drinking!!!

  • Crystal L.

This is your typical neighborhood sports bar. The location is great though, located right in the middle of all the happening places in Harrisburg. The place has too many flatscreens to count, ample seating (indoor and outdoor), and the servers appear stressed but competent enough. The menu offers your classic assorted pub fare including wings, sliders, calamari, chicken tenders, nachos, etc... We decided on SHARING the pulled pork nachos to save room for our priority: drinking. Note: This is also known as the C.C.A.M.A.I. technique*. *Conscientious Calorie Allocation for Maximum Alcohol Intake.

I've been told by my boyfriend forever that living in Texas and Seattle my whole life, I've never had good wings. So visiting his hometown, I was super stoked to try some!! Aroogas was cool cause they have like 60 different sauces to choose from and the wings were in fact, really good. The atmosphere is a sports bar and was surprisingly empty for Thursday night football. I've worked in the service industry for years, and the way that place was being run just totally bothered me. We sat at the bar and I could see way too many nasty things going on behind the bar. The staff was just standing around and I observed several stressed patrons. The place smelled of stale beer and the conversation and banter between the staff was totally inappropriate around the customers. I understand it may be a local, small town hang out, but I can see that place struggling if they don't start doing some training. The wings were definitely good and did come out fast. Next time, I'd probably just order for take out and bring em home.

I used to come here when they were known as Spice and that was solely to hit the dance floor. I went here with my lady for Christmas vacation and was thoroughly impressed with the selection of beer and with the food. I ordered a burger or something to that effect and all I can remember is that the food was on point. They have an extensive list of libations to choose from. If you are downtown Harrisburg, give this place a try.

This bar falsely advertises that it carries gluten-free options on its menu. We picked this place for lunch as one person in our group has Celiac Disease and they advertise a ton of GF options. We ordered the "GF" crab dip as an app and then she ordered the "GF" crab cakes for her entree. Our waitress took the order but came back with the manager a few minutes later. He asked if we ordered GF options because we were on a diet or if someone had Celiac. My friend explained to him that she is not just part of the fad and that this is a serious health issue for her. He then left and came back a few minutes later to explain that "nothing on the menu is really GF." The crab cakes advertised as GF have wheat flour in them, tortilla chips for the crab dip are fried with wheat products, etc. She asked what she could get that was actually GF and he told her only the salads. I'm disgusted that this place lies in their advertising and would mess with something that is such a serious medical issue for some people just to make a quick buck off a fad diet trend.

My boyfriend and I wanted to watch the champions league final and wandered around Harrisburg for a bit before finding this place - and I'm glad we did! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. It was nice that they played the game on whichever screens we wanted. I ordered the chicken, spinach and mozzarella salad and it was amazing. I'm guessing they have farm fresh ingredients because all 3 of the ingredients in the salad were amazZzzing. I also ordered fried pickles and they were great too. Boyfriend got the Stromboli and was happy with it. They have an incredible draft selection. I wish I knew they would've made eggs and bacon for us because we were looking for brunch and settled on bar food (except that my salad could've come from a quaint healthy restaurant). If I'm ever in the area again I'll be back!

A long journey always requires a well-deserved pit-stop. So, I decided to stop by here on my drive back from Pittsburgh to Jersey for some food and a break from the monotony of the turnpike. Aroogas is your typical sports bar with multiple flat screens, bar food and waiters/waitresses in umpire uniforms. However, their beer selection is what really stands out compared to most. Any bar that has a one-page draft list is never bad in my book. As far as the food, I decided to try their "Hot Ranch" wings. Wow, very good and very hot, just how I like them. I also enjoyed a Rogue Chocolate Stout while I watched the Pirates and Brewers game showing above the bar. Overall, Aroogas was a very decent choice to break-up my long day of driving across the Keystone State.

  • Randelle R.

Great beer selection. Reasonably good wine list too. Hope they figure out that they shouldn't refrigerate reds. Encouraged that a sports bar offers a dish of brown rice, broccoli, chicken and shrimp. Except that the brown rice was smashed on the plate and seemed to be five days old. The Pittsburgher was solid...even if the tomato was mushy. Dog friendly (after a brief confrontation/discussion) and pretty mellow. Could do without the smokers puffing on the patio.

  • Shajuana R.

Who comes to a sports bar expecting shrimp and wine.... Not me! For a bar, Aroogas has a great selection of beer and the sandwiches are great, creative and flavorful. I had the "Three Rivers Chicken Sandwedge"! It was yummy, but I would have left the wing sauce off, which made the sandwich a bit salty. The angry orchard cider was fresh and crisp. Overall, I would return to this location and enjoy late night snacks and drinks! P.S. I sat at the bar and received speedy service.

  • G M.

Beer selection is good, however it's not served at 29 degrees like advertised, more like 49 degrees at best. Be aware of the over priced carrots, celery and ranch, it will cost you an additional 3 dollars to enjoy them with your wings...this isn't NYC to charge that much. I'm sure there are other places in Harrisburg that don't try to rip off their customers.

I have been here on several occasions. The first time I stopped in, I was looking for a late dinner on a weeknight and thought they would probably serve food after 9pm. Good news they do! Bad news- it'll take your server 20 minutes of forgetting to even bring the menu when you asked twice to just leave money for the beer and walk out. The second time was for a hungover lunch - Our service this time around was actually very good. The only downside was the lukewarm, soggy boneless wings and the fact that the establishment did not have Tabasco for my Bloody Mary (WTF WHY?!) The third time was during Cinco de Mayo. It wasn't a bad time per say, but I bought a "personal cocktail pitcher" and I left the place more sober than I have went in....was it just one shot of liquor with a pitcher of soda?

Came to Harrisburg from Philly for a change in pace/night out on the town. Had a blast at night but didn't get to this place until the morning. Left the hotel around Noon and asked the front desk where we could get a breakfast. Their response was...'nowhere." Well, there was a Dunkin' Donuts down the block, but that's not exactly what we were looking for. We wandered past Aroogas and asked whether they served breakfast. The don't exactly, but told us they'd make us whatever we wanted (bacon and eggs, etc) even if it wasn't on the menu. Super accomodating- and the service was awesome. We ordered our breakfasts (and got pretzel bread instead of regular toast- Yum) and an order of Tots of Glory to start. I had a bloody mary and I swear, I've never had such a better breakfast. I was also very impresed by the fact that they serve organic, natural and local food and that they were the first certified green restaurant in PA. Pretty cool, and not what you'd expect in a sports bar. The beer lineup and super cold tap system would be worth a trip back to check out. This place was a big surprise, and the next time I'm in Harrisburg, I'll definitely head here at least for breakfast.
