Water ice = a Slurpee but thicker and sweeter and you eat it with a spoon. Rita's has many, many locations and as far as I can tell, their product is exactly the same at all the locations; it may, in fact, come from a central facility. The thing I like about this Rita's is that almost all of the customers hang around and eat their ice in the parking lot. It sounds corny but seeing the yungins and the codgers all mingled together on a warm summer night gives me warm fuzzy feelings. Try a gelati (half ice, half custard). I resisted this one for a long time, but since I tried it I haven't been able to go back to plain water ice.

Typical Rita's. Could use some outdoor seating. They hand you the Italian ice through the window and its like, "ok, get in your car and go now."

if you happen to go to Arcadia, just so you know, this Rita's LOVES Arcadia students! even though I have transferred out of Arcadia and have moved on to Temple (needed a change of pace from the suburbs to the more exciting city life), this was a great place to go as soon as the weather started to get hotter and I'd have that craving for a Rita's water ice or their famous custard with delicious, gooey caramel and sprinkles (no, they're not JIMMIES...they're SPRINKLES). Green Apple will always have a special place in my heart--and it makes me sad when it's not listed under the Flavors of the Day. Besides, it's right up Easton Road, so if you go to Arcadia, it's a short bus ride or 15-20 minute walk from campus. And don't forget, boys and girls, FREE WATER ICE ON THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING!

I love Rita's. I wish it were open all year round. My watermelon, mango and blueberry water ice always has fresh fruit in it and yes I do mix them like that. On Wednesdays you can get 2 quarts for 10.00. That makes me happy. Sure it's not Italian Ice from South Philly, but for what it is, it's awesome!

Rita's is Rita's- it just so happens that it's the perfect walking distance for me. The girls eagerly give me samples whenever I please and everything is exactly how it is at every other Rita's anywhere.

Mmm, every flavor my family and I have tried at Rita's has been good. I loved my vanilla cream italian ice and vanilla custard (gelati). Their cream at the top almost reminded me of froyo, except softer and infinitely better. The cashier was also very patient and courteous, allowing us to sample before ordering (and since every flavor tasted good, we ended up just sticking with the sample flavor). Plus points for a large size being a lot bigger, but only 50 cents more. Rita's definitely helps to satisfy my sweet cravings.
