This is my go to spot for take out seafood sandwiches (specifically flounder), and perfectly cooked snow crab legs. The refrigerated beer selection is decent although I've felt sometimes it could be old and tastes off. I agree the Dockside Pub which is attached to Lew's could have a little better service.

Came for a family dinner, ordered some appetizers. Having been in service industries myself, I am always polite to others. Our waitress was so emphatically rude, despite our kind attitudes. She couldn't even bother to refill drinks. There was only one other table eating, but after waiting about 30 minutes for our appetizer and drinks, we asked when it would be ready. The waitress literally scoffed and said "UH, when it's DONE" and walked away before I could even place a drink order. I have never had a waitress be so blatantly rude, especially with a party with an expensive check. Lucky for her, we aren't as rude as she is and left a decent tip, despite her nasty attitude. You would get better customer service from a fast food window.

Food is awesome!!! The best burger around and pizza steaks are great! Their rolls are so delicious. The waitress Linda is very cool!!! She makes you feel at home.

What a happy place to stumble upon! My husband and I were looking for something to eat as we drove through the area and spotted Lews. We went in and saw all the freshly breaded seafood ready to fry! We ordered a flounder hoagie, and a side if macaroni salad. The flounder hoagie was so so good. They also had all kinds of beers you could mix and match which we always appreciate. My husband enjoyed the food so much, he went to the "bar side" of the establishment the next night for a beer and some dinner!

Nothing special here. Lots of fried food. Crab cakes and fish cakes seem to be mostly breeding. I'd love to see a little more seasoning in the breeding - everything just seemed really bland.

My wife and I ate here and both found the food to be very low quality. The muscles marinara was not very impressive to me. Sauce was very weak. Four of the muscles served were not open. I believe that means they were dead. If they were dead a long time, it would be a bad night for me. Not taking my chances. My wife got stuffed shrimp with French fries. The stuffing seemed to be white bread soaked in a fish juice (Not a lot of assistance to that). The French fries were undercooked (crispy raw on the inside of some of them). Salads were mostly iceberg lettuce (disappointed with that too). Otherwise, service was good, environment was low budget, clientele appeared to be 50+ yo locals, and felt somewhat over priced for what you get. I am not getting the good reviews on the food. Try Benny the Bum in Northeast Philly as an alternative.

Awesome place for seafood. Great clam chowder and clams marinara. Great service and reasonable prices. Not a fancy restaurant, but the atmosphere is nice and comfortable. Food is not too salty which I like. Food is fresh and tasty. Nice selection of beers. They have take out service. Most of the menu items are made from scratch. Service is friendly and fast. Take out service and you can buy items to cook at home. It's been around since 1961.

I just moved to this area and was glad to find a nearby seafood place. It was great, from the food right down to the service.I'll be going back again soon.

I have trepidations about writing a good review because I dont wany anyone else to find out about this place! My wife and I have been going here for the past several years. They simply have the freshest seafood you can get in a landlubbing area. Our favorite is to go there on a Saturday night around 4:30 before it gets too full (there are only a few tables there). They have an all you can eat crab legs, fries and a pitcher of beer for 40 bucks. Every time the crab legs have been huge, fresh and perfectly prepared. Thanks Lews for being our little slice of the beach in Glenside.

The beer was cold and the fries were hot. That was the hi-lite of the meal. We are not from the area and we were looking for a place for dinner before the Monkees concert at the Keswick. Reviews on-line (though limited) seemed very good. My wife's grilled chicken sandwich was adequate, though difficult to eat as the chicken had been cut into multiple pieces and kept falling off the bun. McDonald's would be equally acceptable for about half the cost. My crab cake sandwich on the other hand.... Well, the "crab" cakes had no sign of crab. Virtually all deep fried flavored breading in the shape of fish sticks. I am certain they are institutional frozen prepared cakes. You can get better at Costco or BJs. The french fries really were good though. At any price this sandwich is not worth ordering. The service was not unfriendly, but also not especially cheerful. If we get to the Keswick again, we will try someplace different.

My boy friend was off tonight and usually works 4 to midnight. Thought it would be nice to have a rare midweek date night. We don t make a lot of money, but once in a while treat ourselves. Being new to the North Hills neighborhood we decided to check out Lewes to see if we had a local winner for us. A place we could walk to. I was excited because it was going to be like we were having a new england beach date ...only 2 minutes from our suburban pa home. The ambiance was not cool. But hey some of the best food can be found in dives. We gave it a shot. Ordered a bunch of Apps. I felt like Chef Ramsey...just trying a little bit of everything. Chowder. okay... clams casino...pretty good... fried calamari...hit the spot... fried scallops basket ( doesnt come with fries) was my first time having friend scallops...didn't disappoint. except they were more the size of bay scallops than sea. We even had carrot cake...which i think was the best part. We deemed this a good place to go in the summer for some dockside food. Our waitress was kinda like the kind you find at a truck stop....she was tired...she let us know....but she was a character...so okay. THEN it ALL WENT SOUTH...... We got the bill paid in cash.....tipped 20%. good or bad service we tip decent always. Waitress takes the money...we are set..keep the change. Go to drive off.....I hear someone yelling.....it's dark and misting out....it's the waitress telling us we jyped her. The bill was 50....we gave her 60.....3 20 dollar bills. She only had 2 of them. My BF had handed it right to her.... she said she folded it up and hadn't counted it till after we left. We were sure we had given her the money...since we came with 3 20's and a 10 and 7 singles. we checked us to make sure. I told her I would pull back in and wait till she went back to check. She came out and still doubted us. Said it was okay but she was going to have to pay the difference. I am all about karma ,,,and dont need any enemies in my new neighborhood. My BF and i gathered together all the rest of the cash we had and i went in and gave her the 17 bucks. I told her I just dont want anyone thinking we would do that to anyone. I would feel better if she just took it. ( personally i think she dropped it and a shady kitchen rat took it) She said if it comes up she would give it back to us next time were were in. My BF and i feeling like we kinda got scammed decided that next time we want cheap, good, and walking distance It would be nearby Union jacks or jerzees.....But on the good side.....now when we want dockside..... we will head to the shore....

The good thing about this place is that they make the majority of their menu items from scratch, and that includes the fried mozzarella sticks. Everything I had was fresh. My only complaint about the food is some of the fried items just need a little salt and/or pepper in the breading. Service is quaint and snappy. It's just what you want and expect, friendly enough to make you feel good but not intrusive. The bar area reminds me of a dive, but it's a Dockside Pub...the ambience is totally perfect for a crab shack and there's no reason to get all fancy just to eat some seafood. The crab legs were cooked perfectly and tasted delish! Shrimp basket is a little pricey but it's seafood and it's fresh, so I guess I shouldn't whine about it, I mean really, if I can't afford to go out to eat then don't go out to eat, AMIRIGHT? Definitely give this place a try if you are in the area and looking for something that isn't pizza, cheeseteaks or Chinese. Or hell, if you are craving seafood in general, I wouldn't pick anywhere else in an 8 mile radius!
