Olivia's is probably the best-kept secret of Southern Gettysburg. Everytime I'm driving to get there, I wonder "have I gone to far?" until I ultimately see that sign on the right welcoming me to this homey Greek-inspired place. The food is pretty great. I've come on dates and with groups of friends, and there's always something for someone! I usually go for a few Mezedes (appetizers) to get a sampling of flavors. To be honest, some of them are pretty big, so this is a great way to enjoy the flavors of Greece. My favorites are the stuffed grape leaves with loads of tzatziki and the Saganaki (if you've never had this baked cheese finished with a flambéed cognac and a squeeze of lemon, you must try it!). The salads are great and not shy on the feta. The sandwiches are pretty awesome - souvlaki, gyros, and veggie pitas are all on point. The wine list even includes some Greek wines, which seems appropriate Prices are a little steep for some of the dishes, though you can definitely get an affordable meal if you stick to sandwiches and certain appetizers. The waitstaff has always been pretty great when I go. And if you drop in on a weekend evening, some local musician will be sure to impress and set a chilled out mood. Be sure to come Olivia's for unparalleled Greek-style food!

First time stopping in. Food was really good. Crab cake sandwich was very large & lots of crab. Homemade bread & humus was good too. Save room for their cheesecake very yummy. Server could have been a little bit more attentive, but wasn't bad. Had a guy playing keyboard which was nice. Will definitely stop again.

Avoid this place. Overpriced and lousy food. Is it frozen? The service was good but there was nothing to work with for the poor woman. Really strange dark motif inside the building and it is more bar than restaurant. It gets two stars because the food was edible and filling.

My husband and I tried this place for the first time today on our way to Gettysburg. Right off the bat, we both loved the atmosphere. It was very welcoming. The woman up front (possibly one of the owners) was very friendly and quickly brought us our drinks. We LOVED the hummus and bread at the beginning of the meal-you can definitely tell that it was fresh and homemade. We each got a lunch special-I had the french dip and my husband had the fried flounder sandwich. As far as lunch specials go, the portions were HUGE. Both dishes were super delicious and very fresh. Unfortunately, we didn't save room for the cheesecake specials, but those looked to die for! We were so impressed by our experience that we will be making this a regular spot to dine.

Service was horribly slow. However, the quality of the food made up for the long wait. Tantalizing Greek food.

I think the 2 star rating that this place currently has, is benig generous. The only good thing that they have going is the atmosphere. If you can sit outside on the back patio its good. The food on the other hand was awful. Not one, but two hair were found in two different dishes. I was totally disgusted.

Olivia gets 4 stars because I feel guilty. I've eaten there twice on two different dates. I can't remember the food (I think it was good) but I wouldn't date the people again-avoid [the people] at all costs. The 2nd time we went there was a huge birthday party going on, but that didn't effect service: speedy and nice. There's a big sign on the side of the building "bikers welcome." I don't know many real bikers that like Greek food, but I bet all the rubs might, so good for Olivias for broadening their marketing!

My husband and I were on a weekend trip to Gettysburg and this restaurant was rated pretty high on UrbanSpoon so we thought we'd give it a try. I should have checked Yelp. :( Food was just ok...the bread they brought out before the meal was a bit burned even though the hummus was good. The salad was...well I can't even describe it although the dressing was pretty good. I ordered a Blue Hawaiian and it tasted like pure vodka with some blue food coloring. I asked for them to put more pineapple juice in it and it came back tasting the exact same as before. Disgusting! I wanted to like this place. We wouldn't go back.

Olivia's is just outside Gettysburg on Rt 97 S. It looks like a cross between Greek taverna and a bar. Outside is a nice place to sit and eat, inside was very dark. Menu is Mediterranean. I had a very good soulvaki, pork was marinated and just cooked right. Friend had the gyro. I had a salad with mine and fried had seasoned fries. Around $10 the price was a little high. There was too much tadziki sauce which could have used more cucumber and garlic. The salad was good with a home made Greek dressing. The seasoned fries were not good, fresh cut fries would have been a lot better, and justified the price. Service was attentive and friendly.

First time here- the other guests that I was with had been here before and raved about the food. I thought that it was a Greek restaurant but was disappointed in the choices on the menu. I LOVE hummus and had been looking forward to ordering some. Instead they actually bring you a complementary (melon-baller-sized) scoop. The crab dip appetizer was tasty and the garlic bread that it was served with was excellent. Three out of four of us went with the special that night which was $9.99 for steak and a mini crab cake/shrimp/etc, potatoes and veggie. I ordered med.well and my steak was at least med.rare and not a great piece of meat. I did not eat the steak instead I took it home for my beagle (she loved it). The mini crab cake was good and if I go back I think that's what I'd order. Not much in the form of entertainment was going on the night we were there- several families and groups having a good time. I think this place probably has more appeal for me as a summer time restaurant- I can see myself sitting on the deck and enjoying a cocktail.

I agree with another reviewer that Olivia's is hit or miss, even though this was my first visit. The hummus they bring to the table with bread was not very good. Runny and a bit grainy, flavor was okay after we added salt and lemon from our drinks. They should use better bread . On the other hand, the stuffed grape leaves appetizer was scrumptious. SErved with a lovely vinaigrette on top, they would have been great just like that. But there was this lovely creamy and fresh tzatziki sauce on the side. Fragrant with dill and crunchy with cucumbers, we almost stuffed ourselves on it. The saganaki was pretty good too. For dinner, I ordered the shrimp kasseri. I was hungry, saw the picture on the menu and ordered it, expecting some sort of cheesy sauce on top of the rice and shrimp. What I got was rice and somewhat overcooked sauteed shrimp with melted kasseri cheese on top, but the cheese had mostly turned back to its original semi-hard state. The whole thing was okay, but I didn't like the hard cheese. They should either get a better recipe for this or take it off the menu. Hubby ordered the pastitsio. This was a thing of beauty. Two large portions, layered with spiced ground meat, ziti and a thick layer of golden brown bechamel on top. If there was lamb in the pastitsio, there was very little - it tasted mostly like beef. That's okay, though, because the seasoning in the meat was so yummy. They didn't try to skimp by over-filling the dish with pasta either. I've read other reviews that the ambience is less than desirable. When we visited, it was a little dark inside, and did have a bit of "bar feel". That did not bother me and the jazz music playing was not too loud at all (I'm a stickler for loud music in restaurants). I"m still intrigued enough to visit Olivia's again to try the moussaka or the baked haddock.

Decent Greek food with a wide-ranging menu and good wine list. The atmosphere inside is awful--loud music playing, extremely dark, tacky decorations. The price is also too high for what you get.

I went on a Friday evening with a friend. We had wines from a limited list. The greek salads at the outset were fresh and delicious. I had a special -- Thai crab cakes on asperagus and angel hair pasta that were excellent. The atmosphere is casual.

I been here at least three times. I want to like this place, but my experiences have been hit or miss. That's why I've questioned whether I should bring a friend here or recommend it to others. During my most recent experience, I have to admit that their souvlaki was very good and I was impressed with the very nicely presented side salad. One weird thing is the way they serve their Greek pastries. If you like your Greek desserts traditional, ask them to hold the chocolate syrup and whip cream from the Baklava and Galaktoboureko. Maybe also ask them to warm it up and have some honey drizzled over instead.

In Tuesday, Cinco de Mayo, after our ladies volleyball team won SIX GAMES STRAIGHT, OVER THE COURSE OF 2+ HOURS, we were a tad thirsty. Leaving littlestown, we headed to Gettysburg to get some drinks. Stopped at olivia's. Party/house music was rocking and we knew we had found the right place to drop ~$150 (there were 7-9 of us)! People on the tiki bar, lots of cars in the parking lot- we were psyched! Unfortunately, the girl at the front door turned us away with a "what can I help you with?" And a "we close at 10" (it was 9:59 pm). Rude! We went to TGIFridays and spent about $150 (before tip). I know $150 doesn't make or break a business, but for 45 minutes, would it have killed you to serve us a few drinks and some easy appetizers?

My daughter and I had a great experience at Olivia's last night. Friendly host greeted us at the door as soon as we arrived. Our server Lexi was nice and attentive, always checking on us and refilling our drinks. Peach cobbler martini is amazing. Hummas and fresh bread is excellent. Mousakka and kids penne mac & cheese are delicious. Quite a lot of food too.Lexi packed up all the extra and put it in a bag to go for us. On the way out the host told us to have a good night. Overall, atmosphere, staff and food were all great. We will definitely be back.

Nice place. Service was a bit slow but ok. I had the stuffed flounder which 5 star! My friends all had gyros (why buy street food at a restaurant?). Had it been a food cart I would say it looked good. She had a Cosmo and said it was very weak.

The hummus is AMAZING, one of my favorite parts of eating there. Their food has always been really good but the best part of dinner is definitely the dessert. Be sure to save room for the cheesecake it is 5 star.

Came here for the first time and it was great. The cook came stumbling in after we did so the food took a while but the waiter offered free extra bread and hummus for it. Food was outstanding and worth it! Large portions and prices were good too. If in the area will def be back.

Olivia's could use a visit from Robert Irvine. Food is okay. Service is okay. It's a huge place. The outside tiki is okay. There are better options nearby. Little pricy. I know locals fawn over this place but food snobs like me would love to see Olivia's kick it up a notch. You won't be disappointed but you won't be writing a 5 star Yelp review either.

The food is still good and the menu is eclectic. The service is absolutely terrible. We had a rude, nonchalant server seat us. She never asked if we wanted inside or outside, she plopped our menus on a booth over a railing. She never said "a server will be with you", "welcome to Olivia's", or anything else. The server was very inexperienced and needed some training. I believe that responsibility falls on Olivia's. We probably won't be back. We used to be regulars but there are other places to go that have better food and better service. Try C&D Grille in Abbottstown. Much better. One more note, I tried to send them an email through their website. I received a failure notice stating their inbox was full. Small indication of how the business is run. Nice.

Food was bad. Ribs were salty. Stuffed grape leaves were just store bought. Lamb kabobs were fatty and poorly seasoned. Spanikopita was pretty good a tad salty. Way over priced. Service was not great. Waiter acted like he didn't recognize names of things we ordered. He had to see it from menu and copy it down.
