Yelp doesn't allow negative star ratings so we will stick with one and that's only because of the staff. Food and price were horrible. Never in my life have I passed up shrimp until today. My order of shrimp was pass around the table like it was the plague. Steak was definitely taken out of a frozen cardboard box. Will not be revisiting this place.

Went to dinner while in Gettysburg for the 150th Anniversary. This was a different experience. Sirloin steak gets a star, service gets a star, and price value gets a star. Steak tips had to be returned for toughness but they brought another order which was good. Good steak served quickly but not gourmet by any means.

Overall a disappointing experience. - Service was extremely slow - we were finished with our first trip to the salad bar, and still no drinks at the table. Had to go ask for our drink orders, and then it took another 10 minutes. - Some of the entrees were OK - but some, like the overcooked salmon, were almost not edible. - The salad bar was actually pretty good. - What topped it off was the little ants crawling on the table and wall. The manager apologized but didn't seem too surprised. I doubt that we'll be back.

This is a place you'll get a decent meal for the cost. I went with the 6 oz steak which comes with a side and salad, soup and dessert bar for about $13. Is it the best steak I've ever had? No, but it's comparable to a steak you might get at a typical chain restaurant. It was juicy and tasted good. The salad bar has all the salad fixings, a couple types of bread and soups to get started before the food is out, and we were hungry, so it's great to get something right away but hard to not fill up. The dessert bar was also great as they had the typical brownies and sweets, but since I am watching the calories, they had small cups of low fat ice cream, fruit, and jello for a good meal ending sweet taste without going overboard on calories. This is definitely not a fancy place, but if you have a big appetite and don't want to spend too much, it's a good place to check out.

This place was just what we were looking for. Friendly service, warm atmosphere, good food, good prices. This place is not upscale by any means but if you are looking for a good place to take your family while visiting, this is it. It was windy and cold today and the varieties of soup were delicious and warmed me up :) I especially enjoyed the ham and bean soup. They also have a nice salad bar with all the fixins you could want, a variety of fresh bread, and dessert bar. Our steaks were slightly overcooked but weren't tough and were seasoned nicely so they were fine. We would recommend this place to friends and will go back when we are in town again.

Haven't been here for about a year, but we got a gift card from a raffle that I wasn't just going to throw away. Not much has changed really, but then again nothing at any Hoss's has changed in the past 30 years. Not saying that's a good or bad thing. The food was not bad, in fact we all seemed to enjoy our meals well enough. Nothing to write home about, but it will keep you alive if nothing else. It's a chain that uses all bought in frozen foods, but this is what you would expect when you come in so it's not like you should be disappointed. Now our server, Lee. He was an absolute superstar. Very attentive and friendly. If the rest of the staff is half as good as him then you should be alright.

This a slightly upscale version of Sizzler, and costs a bit more. Good food, fast service, and an excellent salad bar.

Great stop for a large group. We ate here while in Gettysburg on a Boy Scout trip with the entire Troop. We made reservations via email a few weeks in advance so they weren't blind sided by a group of 20 kids and 6 adults. They had a room set up for us in the back and were great at getting everyone's order quickly and effiiciently . Our group had two dedicated servers who were absolutely fantastic. Kept our drinks full and had no issue dealing with the younger scouts. Food is average but the service really made it special. Make sure you get the salad bar with your order as there is so much more than salad on the bar.

Great food selection for a family with varied tastes. While in Gettysburg, we ate here for both a lunch and a dinner. The food was very good, including a good salad bar, soups and desert bar. The french onion soup was great - as good as any four star restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant to tired families on the road who can't all agree on what to eat, and who need a good meal before they kill each other.

Move along...Nothing to see here... The food was cooked well, but the whole environment and presentation just wasn't right for me. It was kind of like a cheap (in design/product) type place to eat without the cheap price to match (for what you got). This place is almost like a Golden Corral and Ponderosa/Bonanza crashed together, expect they didn't put any effort into it and it wasn't as good as either of them. You want a potato? Here...have a plastic tub of butter and sour cream with nothing else offered and enjoy your cold potato. Want some bread? Go to the bread bar...grab the loaf that some lady just took her hands off (instead of using a utensil) and cut yourself a piece. Enjoy! Just seemed like a place that caters to those that want to eat and are not worried about what is put in front of them. Will not be back. Think I'll drive a quarter mile to Perkins and have something exponentially better.

We have been there many times. We just about always get just the salad bar, as it has a wide variety of things to choose from and is quite filling. Great meal at a great price. The soups are always very good too. Highly recommended.

They might deserve 3 stars because there does seem to be some effort. The service was good. The staff was very pleasant. The salad bar and with soups and dessert is a good value. My steak was POOR. It was the worst rib eye ever. It was tough - loaded with gristle and the preparation was poor. It seemed that the steak was fried. My wife had a sirloin steak and her steak was pretty marginal also. Other than that, the place seems decent.

First problem is they seated 10 of us at a table that seats 8. Secondly 4 out the 5 steaks where over cooked, after 3 try's with my steak I told them to forget about it. Wendy's right down the street probably has better food. Avoid at ALL cost, Warning EAT some where else...

The fixin's that were on the buffet were just so-so and really were not the most appetizing presentation I could imagine. Most things were edible, so could have been a lot worse. The steaks we got were as good as cheap steaks go and came medium-rare as ordered, so the review got a boost for this. I would go back if nothing better was available.

Hoss's is a throwback to the days of Ponderosas and Bonanzas. Being from the Philadelphia area we have been deprived of their excellence for years now. so when I heard that Hoss's had the same general idea going, order your meat, get all you can eat from their huge salad bar, I had to give it a shot. Although the place was really crowded the line moved quickly and it didn't feel too cramped in the dining room. The salad bar was extensive, there were at least three different soups and many different desserts to choose from. It felt very down home like even for a chain and my meal was delicious. Hoss's is highly recommended.

My Sister went to college in Gettysburg way back when. And when we visited her we would come to this place sometimes. This place has great steaks and a cool salad bar. The best thing about this place is the merch. Me and my dad both bought corny Hoss's Hats that completely embarrassed my sister. My dad got a blue one, but I opted for the bright orange hunting hat. I wish I still knew where it was.

Your standard buffet restaurant. Love the chicken noodle soup and the baked potatoes are really good, but otherwise just so-so. Our kids love it though, so we will be back.

This is a great place for a family meal. The line moves quick if it is long so don't worry if they are busy (especially during the busy tourist seasons). I enjoy the nachos and French onion soup.
