The bar food here is good and the beer selection and the bartenders are also good. The reason for only 2 stars is the Friday and Saturday night entertainment. The quality of the bands has gone down hill dramatically since the former manager left a year or so ago. Every band now is middle age guys playing covers of Van Morrison and Neil Young. They use to have bands that played music from this decade that would actually make you want to get up and dance and stay longer. Not anymore. When the bands go on now, it's now time to leave. Even the bartenders don't like any of the bands anymore. They need to starting booking younger bands that play more than just classic rock. The classic rock/blues bands are driving people away.

I went to Ron's on a recommendation of a co-worker for lunch one day. I ordered the special pizza of the day, a "spicy chicken bacon ranch" pizza that had jalapeno peppers on it and in the ranch sauce. The pizza was AWESOME! The service was great and the atmosphere was fun. I highly recommend eating here, I will be doing it again!

this place should get 5 stars alone for showing hockey night in canada on a saturday night - but i'll give it 4... everyone who worked there was swell pretty sure the bathroom was a one-off and that's kind of a bummer

Great local hangout with homemade touched & fresh foods. The fettuccine Alfredo is great! Never have had bad luck here & take out service is on point!

Food is way over priced. The food isn't bad, it's decent, but nothing to brag about. One compliment though is their menu is humongous. They really do have something for everyone.

We got takeout from here when I was staying with friends in Phoenixville. I was instantly a fan! First of all, the BOGO offer for Ovals is a great deal and makes the food so cheap! We also stopped in to pick up our order, and got some beer from their vast selection of specialty beers. Really enjoyed the ones we got! My only complaint is that the beers are fairly marked up - quite expensive, in my opinion. I am a big fan of the Lindeman's Framboise beer, and the large one was $16 or $17, which I thought was a lot for that bottle. You could get a decent bottle of wine for that price. But all the food we had was delicious, and was even good cold the next morning as breakfast! :-) I'll definitely go back when I'm in the area.

I've been going to Ron's since it was originally Ron's School House and they had awesome curly fries. Bogo ovals are the best deal around and they have so many different options to choose from. I have noticed recently it is hit or miss with quality of food which is really disheartening. My family used to either get take-out or eat in once a week but now we have scaled back due to food quality being so unpredictable. The serving staff are always pleasant and extremely efficient. They have an extensive beer selection.

What a shame. Ron's has gone way down hill in the past 5 months. What used to be a great place for good value, good food, and good beer, is now just a place for some good beer. First, the food quality and quantity has taken a dive. (Seriously, if you want a good laugh, order the micro sized wings for $10...they may have come off of a day old chick...such a ripoff). In addition, the bar section used to have great half priced food specials for all Phillies games, and they are no longer doing that. There really is no reason to go here anymore unless they pull a serious turnaround. You would think that American Bar and Grill closing down just across the street would have Ron's interested in actually bringing in a crowd, not driving people away. EDIT: Thanks for the response, Ron. Since the original review, I have noticed the game specials back, and the wings done by the pound. Aside from often being a little light on IPA's/DIPA's, Ron's has been enjoyable the last few visits.

NEVER AGAIN. Have you ever eaten at a restaurant and you can't wait to review it because you've had such a remarkably miserable dining experience? Well welcome to Ron's. I lived in Ron's town15 years ago. Moved about 15 miles away and never made it back. I heard they made a few changes from the old mediocre pizza and sandwich shop, and I read many Yelp reviews that were positive. Their beer menu looked promising, so I actually looked forward to giving it another try. So I return to Ron's 15 years later with a 10 and a 7 year old. At 5pm the place is full - mostly families, but a good sign for us who planned on family night. To make a long story short the kids chicken fingers were the highlight of the meal. Appetizer? This was a first - sticky fried Calamari you could eat with a spoon. They call it Sicilian calamari. I called it a gelatinous mess of olives and a sweet, sort of spicy sauce that smelled revolting. Entrée - Blackened chicken that tasted like dry charred wood over noodles (I can't even call it pasta or macaroni it was so bad). Muscles fra diavalo that tasted nothing like it was Italian. It had spices and flavors from who knows where. And thanks for charging me for plain bread with my pasta. I ordered my second beer and after 15 minutes and a trip back from the waitress telling me they were looking for it, I got the wrong one (I ordered a 22oz special bottle and they gave me a 12 oz. can. Brilliant. So now it's check time. The waitress can't wait to dispose of us based on her attitude. She gives us a check and I have to remind her my kids get a scoop of ice cream. She says "oh yeah, sorry" and asked us if we want it to go. I say yes. Please. On the way home my kids open their ice cream and flavors are wrong and she didn't include the spoons! Brilliant again. So if you go here you are doing it for 2 reasons. 1. You want to feel comfortable with kids going out to dinner and you could care less about the food. 2. You like 12 page "we have something for everybody" menus and horrible resentful service. Rons food hasn't changed in a positive way in/almost 20 years. It's for people wiithout taste or care for a real restaurant. Considering you can walk or drive 4 minutes to a better alternative, this place shouldn't even be on your radar. And yes, there is much better craft beer selections in town. 5 star ratings? REALLY?

I am a rookie to this place. I had some colleagues explain to me what "ovals" are and that they are not to be referred to as personal pizza's. I kinda understand it but still do not get it (if that makes any sense). Anyway for those that are considering this place I would start of like I did, and order yourself one of the ovals. These ovals were very filling and the most expensive one was around $9-$10, you also have the option with building your own which could probably run you a pretty penny. I had the buffalo chicken oval, and let me tell you it was fantastic, I am not sure why but it seems like a lot of places I go to are afraid of using blue cheese when it comes to this pizza type concoction. This is something I can never understand, and it seems like this Ron guy of Ron's Original Bar & Grille couldn't understand it either and it forced him to open his own place. Whether or not my fictitious story is true or false, I salute the man that can marry all of the flavors that he does on these "ovals." My wife ordered the Fire Veggie Oval, and she really enjoyed it. She was able to spread it out to enjoy two separate days. I believe I could have also done the same, but instead I stuffed myself like a squirrel preparing for a long winter. Another thing I liked about Ron's is that he has a beer selection that would make John Blutarsky from Animal House blush! I know what you are asking yourself, okay J.Lo why didn't you give this 5 stars? One thing is that there is a separate take out entrance so you do not disturb the regular diners (this might be confusing for a noob like me). Also I "heard" that they have some kind of frequent buyers/visitors club and it isn't offered to everyone. Sounds to secret and maybe I am just mad (like I was when I was picked last for soccer at the age of 8). Finally I only went here once, and I plan on going back more, so I will be able to better justify a 5 star rating. Bottom line, if you pass this place up you are making a HUGE mistake. Go check it out, and the ovals will not let you down.

Ron's is a great place for lunch or dinner. The small bar area seems to get packed on a Friday night, but I only have seen it passing to the dining room. I have eaten at Ron's about 30x over the last 5 years and I have never been disappointed with the food. That's saying something. Sometimes the service is a little "brisk" but nothing over-the-top. They have a very nice craft beer menu also, which is good to have with a hot roast pork sandwich or a crispy Oval. Overall, if I need to get a great lunch, Ron's is my go-to place.

Great beer selection. Hugh menu! It's almost overwhelming, but really enjoyed the options. Lots of ovals (bigger than a personal pizza, enough for two people easily) with very creative options. Cool bar scene, small area but cozy and very attentive bartenders.

Amazing Craft Beer list at the bar!! Also Fran is a great bartender, very attentive. He rocks! Probably one, if not the BEST, Happy Hour in Chester County! I always enjoy the black & white mussels.

I really WANT to like Ron's, and I do enjoy the little bar with the great beer selection...but every time I go there something is disappointing. So... being a native Texan, I have very particular tastes in BBQ,so it should have come as no surprise that the ribs were just eh, but not awful. What was awful that visit were the two LONG hairs I found in the beans, YUCK. On our next visit, I tried to stick with something more reliable like pizza - plain old pepperoni pizza. But the one food group I hate is the Onion Family. For some reason, they put onions on my pizza! No big deal but I had to pick them off before I could eat them. Our next visit was just to the bar to watch a band play. We thought about eating, but when you look through a 10 page menu and NOTHING looks appetizing you know you need to move on. A couple of suggestions: cut the menu down to two or three genres instead of eight and for heaven's sake, don't charge so much money to substitute a potato side for a vegetable side! Why did I keep going back? Because my husband's business is located about 1/2 a mile away and it's convenient. But honestly, we've been avoiding it lately until we hear that the menu is changing. I will check back in a few months and hopefully can raise the rating to 3 stars.

This is my go to bar. A few blocks from home and totally solid. Before I start raving about the bar, I'll quickly talk about the dining atmosphere. First things first is that the dining menu is the same as the bar menu. This is what could be causing confusion to some other reviewers. (Too many options for the bar and somewhat silly options for a full fledged restaurant) The only reason I know this is because Ive been to the bar many times and Ive been dining a few times. I admit I found it somewhat odd, but in the end, since I go to the bar more often I enjoy it because it gives me a good opportunity to try many things at the bar. That said, I hardly ever try new things because their happy hour and Phillies deals are so good. The ovals (flatbread pizzas) are great and the boneless wings are perfect for someone like myself who loves chicken but is not the biggest fan of the whole wing eating concept. I can stick a fork in them and eat the delicious little nuggets. The bartenders here have always been great and the beer selection is great, It does seem that the draft selection goes toward the heavier/higher alcohol beers, but I just got Pliny the Elder there so I cant complain. Bands playing here is even a good setup. You can watch and enjoy if you please or if its not your thing, its not too loud or domineering for you to be overwhelmed or displeased with it. Rons also offers takeout (food AND beer) which I have not taken advantage of but the wall of good bottled beers always makes me want to stop in quickly after work. After writing this I kinda cant wait to go back.

Was there 06/09/12. Bartender was a little strange; gave me a dirty glass with my bottle of beer. The food was bland and boring. I won't be visiting again, there are just too many other better places to have a drink and a bite to eat.

I am a big fan of craft beers and this place is top notch when it comes to that. I brought a packet of the beers they have with me cause they have such a broad selection. They also have great wings and ovals here. Great place to go near the Exton area.

Ron's diverse menu makes it a go to place in the Lionville area. You can get anything from pizzas to pastas to filet mignon and the owner has a focus on healthy, fresh ingredients. The fact that they deliver is awesome and is why I wind up ordering from here at least once per week. My favorites: ham and cheese oval, slow roasted beef sandwich, chicken parm, and crab fetticine. They also did a great job catering a party for me and The Duke brothers.

Ron's recently did an overhaul and this place has really stepped up their bar! Very nice high def TVs, more bar tables and 20 or so bar stools now. If you knew the old "bar" this is a tremendous upgrade. They have a couple of entrances to the place. First is the bar/restaurant door which allows you to sit down and eat/drink. The other entrance near the corner is a take-out only door. Their beer selection is fantastic, they have 3 or so "regular" tap handles dedicated to the regulars and the rest are craft beer taps. If you're not happy with the 15ish craft beer taps they have quite an extensive selection of bottles too! They have a very nice beer menu for all their bottles and taps (thanks to the Beer Yard) which helps you choose what to order. Their menu is pretty extensive and covers your basics. Pizza, Stromboli, Sandwiches, Hoagies, Burgers, Salads, etc but the real draw are the ovals. Ovals are a sort of flat bread pizza topped with just about anything you want. Definitely drop by for happy hour and pick one up at half price! Ron's is a great place to relax after work or a spot to go and watch the game. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and upscale but the attire is casual. The restaurant is completely separated from the bar area so there's always families and bar goers there. Stop in and have a drink if you're in the area.

Local tonight. Stopped in by chance, looked good from the curb. What a treat! Kevin at the bar took great care of us. Great beer selection. Food very good. Mussels PEI were outstanding. My bride had eggplant small plate and I had the sausage and pepper small plate, both just fine. Local crowd made us feel welcome. Will go again. Strongly recommended.

This is my new go to restaurant in the area. I hadn't been there in a few years, my son got me to try it again. Organic, freshly prepared food. I ordered a side caesar salad and chicken sicilian. Organic chicken and veggies, fresh pasta, wonderful mixture of flavors! It was so good. they also served us crusty bread, which was delicious. But honestly- and I am a big bread lover, for once I was worried I would ruin my appetite with the bread and just wanted to eat my dinner. Amazing. I went back another time and ordered to take out a taco salad. I should have ordered the chicken because I am not a big fan of red meat- but everything was so fresh, the dressing, the salsa, the lettuce! It was another wonderful meal. I like to eat healthy and enjoy it, so this is my new restaurant- I am so glad my son talked me in to going there!

The previous time I went here, the restaurant/bar were closed due to a power failure, so i was looking forward to it. What a huge disappointment it was! Ron's advertisement on Yelp.com indicated $4 any flavor martinis and discounted happy hour appetizers on Mon-Fri during happy hour, but charged $8 for a lousy martini in the dining room on a Friday during happy hour. When I questioned this, the manager indicated happy hour specials only apply in the bar area and not the dining area. This was not specified anywhere on their website, nor was it in their sponsored advertisement on Yelp.com . The food is mediocre at best and the service is spotty/inconsistent. They charged an additional $2 for an extra dinner roll and the server tried to clear my plate when I was eating with over half of the food remaining on it. The focus seemed to be on getting people in and getting them out as soon as possible and not on quality customer service. If you are in the mood for good Italian food, mussels, pasta, seafood, etc. at a good restaurant/bar, I recommend Weso's in Marchwood and Fellini's in Berwyn. Don't waste your time and money at Ron's Original Bar & Grille!

I really want to like Ron's because we live close and there aren't that many good places in our area... you have to go to West Chester or out to the Main Line to get a decent meal. Every time we've either gone into Ron's or ordered take out, I've been disappointed. The menu is too big... they definitely need to narrow it down a bit and focus on making those items better. The food doesn't seem fresh at all and the salads leave much to be desired. I ordered a greek salad and they used Iceberg lettuce, which is the worst and has no nutritional value. The Kalamata olives looked like they had passed their expiration date about 2 years ago, and lost all their color. I also ordered the chicken parm, which was dry and the marinara sauce was very bland. The best thing about my recent order was the garlic bread. All in all, the food is average at best.

Ron's has really stepped up their game in the last few years. Being part of a huge Italian family makes us all very particular with our Italian cuisine. Ron's is a place we can go to enjoy a quick fresh Italian food at a very reasonable price. Plus you get to color on the paper tablecloths... Who wouldn't love that?

Love, love, love Ron's! Been going here for years! The Ham & Cheese Oval is the best! Not to mention their french fries are just out of this world! Cheese Steak Wrap is always great! The only problem I've ever had at Ron's was a chicken salad wrap that I asked for with no onions..and it was fixed immediately! Great food, great service!

I really like Ron's - great beer selection and happy hour specials. Try the ovals, they are fantastic. Knocked a star off because they are always busy and it seems a bit cramped in there. Other than that, a great place to go after work or any other time!

Been to Ron's countless times with my kids... they enjoy the menu and the atmosphere. Food is usually very good, and was this visit as well. Reason 2 stars instead of more was bizarre experience with waitress and manager. We came in late on Sunday and were trying to get in and out quickly. Didn't have time to read the whole beer menu, plus the waitress arrived to take our drink orders about 30 seconds after we sat down. No problem at all so far, we were in a bit of a rush anyway. So, I asked the waitress to recommend a beer on tap that is close to an English style ale, which my wife enjoys. She told us she does not drink so could not recommend. No problem, says I, 'Please just ask the bartender to give us whatever is closest to an English style Ale and we are sure it will be fine." Seems a simple enough request in an establishment that prides itself on all things beer. Not so. Next thing we know we are visited by the manager who acts a bit funny and needs to see what we need. I go through the whole request again and he says they don't have any English style Ale's on tap. Odd, yes, but no problem. I tell him, "No worries, please bring her a Bass Ale." Drinks are delivered by a different waiter. I ask him, "what just happened here?" He tells us he will be our waiter now. So now I start a slow boil because the waitress is obviously refusing to serve us. I ask the manager what had gone on and he basically blamed me for being rude to the waitress, and instructed me to read the beer menu before ordering. Told me he could not send the waitress back to a table that upset her so badly. Huh?! Seriously, I could not believe my ears and would have walked out on the spot if my two daughters didn't need dinner. Extremely embarrassing to us. Some reeducation in the art of customer service is definitely warranted. Hope the owner is reading this.

Tried this spot since they were tapping Southern Tier pumpking ale. Which is supposedly the best pumpkin beer available. Have since gone back on a few occasions. It gets really packed, and the wait can be long. I cant say there is anything wrong w/ the menu. The pizzas (called ovals) are really good, and you really have a choice of toppings. The sandwiches are good, as well. Companions have never complained about their meals, and have their usual favorites. I don't think you will have any trouble choosing something to your liking foodwise or beverage wise. The beer list is incredible! You should definitely try this spot if you are in the area!

Aside from the quality of the food the restaurant is nice when you eat in. Their wings are the worst. Their Italian wrap is tasteless. Their pizza is average. The tuna wrap is okay. They do have GREAT chips though. Last time I was in the host(the boy with the shaved head/bald head) was VERY rude with my family. I should have turned around and walked out. We walked in to be seated. He just stared me down. Not a hello, no welcome to Ron's, no greeting at all, just a WTF do you want stare. Not the kind of person that should be the face of your business.

I have only been here for lunch and taken out for lunch so I cannot vouch or speak for their dinner menus or the bar, of which I hear good thing of both. For lunch however, the food is great. It's a great place to take out from. They do have A LOT of beers at the take out counter and it's hard not to stare at it all and wish you could throw a few back on a Thursday when all you wish is that the week was over. Their ovals are phenomenal (be sure to get them around BOGO times which happens twice a year). I can also highly recommend their thin crust pizzas, they are more like a spanish flat bread than a pizza and are really great. Their burgers are tasty as well. And on top of all that their prices are extremely affordable. We take out from Ron's every day almost and it never disappoints. One note, if you are picking up, be sure to remember what phone number they took your order under, as they use that to track your order, not your last name or what you ordered etc. They also deliver if you prefer that, on a schedule once every half hour I believe.

  • Jeff M.

Ron's is on our list of regular places to hit. Very casual and very friendly atmosphere. Perhaps the most comfortable bar stools I've ever sat in. The food is very good quality and very reasonably priced. The menu isn't going to have anything you haven't seen before. But, it's all prepared with fresh and quality ingredients. We have never had a bad meal there. And the staff is very attentive. Great beer selection as well.

    (5)
  • Jennifer L.

I love Ron's! The service is great, and the beer selection will knock your socks off. We've been several times in the last few weeks, and absolutely everything we've ordered, whether the wings or a salad or a sandwich or their signature "ovals" (basically pizza sans sauce) has been terrific. It's worth pointing out that the bar area and restaurant are two completely different worlds. The bar is beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming, and the service is exceptional -- even when busy. The restaurant feels like a separate establishment. Still good, but tons and tons of kids and families. Which is fine, of course, but the bar feels much more sophisticated (but still casual) than the restaurant, which is a little more generic and Olive Garden-ish. If it's just you and your significant other, or you and a couple of good friends: head to the bar. If it's you and the kiddies and grandma: the restaurant is the place to go. Not in the mood to dine in? Head next door for their take-out, which features an amazing selection of beers, both obscure and well-known. Either way, Ron's is a must-stop for any and all beer fans in the area.

This is currently our favorite pub in the area. The food is great, the staff is attentive and the beer list has more interesting things to try than I can keep track of. The worst thing that I can say about Rons' is that the dining room can feel a little cramped, particularly with cranky kids. We tend to avoid busy restaurants, 'cause we're old fogeys, and have not gone at night, when I suspect that Rons' will feel more like a bar than a restaurant, which is fine for the people who want that.

  • Chris W.

We have been to Ron's several times. Tonight I had the Steak Pizzaiola. I thought it was fantastic. One of he better "new" items on the menu. The kids menu is perfect for our 3 year old. I always try to get a new item on every visit and I have yet to be disappointanted.

Love this place! I have only eaten once in the dining room but frequent the bar at least once a week. The beer selection is great for all beer lovers, Miller Lite to some of the best craft brews. Fran and his brother Kevin are two of the best bartenders I have ever had. They always remember us, make great conversation and make sure everyone is happy. The bar can get crowded during happy hour to early dinnertime but that speaks to how popular and great of a place it is. The menu is very extensive, giving lots of options. They have great happy hour specials and specials during Phillies, Eagles and Flyers games. Their ovals are awesome and one of my favorites. They now have a frequent visitor card too that you swipe everytime you eat or drink and can earn money off your bill once you reach a certain amount.

This was my first time in and although the decor was eye catching the restaurant is too dark. I can only imagine what it is like in the wintertime. The garlic bread looked unappetizing but I did try it and found it to be chewy, not how I like my garlic bread. I ordered the Apple and Gorgonzola Salad. It was beatiful when it arrived at the table but the vinegrette that was served with it was too spicy, an overdose on the red pepper. Luckily it was served on the side and I ate very little of it. I was surprised to learn they only serve whole milk, plain or chocolate. Are we not trying to get kids to eat healthier? That is one of the easiest ways to cut the fat out without kids knowing. My daughter did not like the lemonade and my son found it to be watery. Everyone else seemed to be fine with their dinner and the service was fine. Will most likely move on to another restaurant I enjoy better.

I'll be honest with you. I've gone to this place a number of times over the past 5 years, and its gotten to the point where you can't get near it on Saturday night, and while its good....it's not that good that I'll wait. It's far too small to accomodate the patrons. i'd just as soon go down the road to Weso's where the food is just as good, if not better, and the noise is not so loud that you can't think.

We ate here twice. The service was good but some of the food was disappointing. Last time I had their Cioppino dish (mussels, scallops, shrimp, and cod in a red sauce with fettuccini) which I thought was delicious along with some sort of cajun soup which was also good. Unfortunately, shortly after dinner I was sick for the rest of the night. The rest of my family had crab cakes which were not that good and had an unusual flavor. Two poor experiences and prices that are on the high side means we're not going back again.

The second time I went here wasn't nearly a good as the first. The beer situation was similar but the mussels were only ok, the broth terrible. The calamari was listed as lightly breaded but was mostly breading. Still a decent place but I guess the meal depends more on the cook that evening.

We chose this place based on previous reviews but were disappointed with the food. Would not recommend this place. The cost seems excessive for the items purchased. We spent about $30 for one pizza steak, french fries, boneless wings and mozzarella sticks.

Every visit home, I stop at Ron's for my pizza-steak fix. An excellent steak sandwich, considering its in the far western burbs of Philadelphia. As noted by other reviewers, they have an extensive (ready huge) list of beers, mostly bottled. Their ovals (like a pizza, but not sauce) are quite popular. Their regular and boneless (not really boneless wings, more like chicken nuggets with no breading) chicken wings are an excellent balance of heat and flavor. Takeout is fast and easy. As also noted by other Yelpers, they do attract a note families with small childern............so expect noisy (in a kid way) and sometimes a tad messy during peak hours.

I tried Ron's tonight for the first time. Per Jennifer L's suggestion, I asked my friend to meet me in the bar. Standing room only at the bar - seemed like happy hour for corporate types. We got a table instead and it seemed like everyone was celebrating a birthday for various 4 year-olds. Luckily, they were all in a different room or my experience may have been different. Our service was prompt and friendly, the menu is large with a selection of everything from hoagies to pizza to traditional Italian fare entrees. We both tried an "Oval" - basically a misshapen personal-sized pizza. I had BBQ chicken - it was delicious and I ate the whole thing. They also have a fantastic draft beer selection - I had some yummy Russian chocolate Stout. We moved to the bar which was still loud but less crowded - I'm not saying that I'm a beauty queen, but the crowd at this bar was, let's say, somewhat unattractive. Less hip than I expected in terms of both decor and crowd but was very comfortable to enjoy an after-dinner drink. Next time I would like to try the old bay fries and the chocolate pudding cake and whatever is new on draft.

This review may not be helpful to everyone but I has a great experience with Rons! I live in California and on my mother's birthday wanted to send a luncheon to her office in Exton. I found Rons on-line and called the day before. He put together a wonderful sandwich spread that fit my budget and even bought a card for me! He contacted me through email and by telephone to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. The delivery was on time and perfect! He even followed up with me afterwards to make sure we were happy! We were!

Ever since Ron's was renovated, it was been fantastic. It's not too expensive and has something for everyone. They completely changed the menu for the better. The make all their own dressings and desserts daily. They have a variety of gluten free items and beers on tap. They have fantastic cheese steaks and pizzas called ovals. I also enjoy the quinoa salad there. If you are looking for a delicious meal with fresh ingredients that isn't too pricey, I would definitely recommend Ron's. Also you can call ahead and put in a reservation which I would definitely do because it can get pretty crowded.

YEAH they have gluten free pizza (they call it an oval). Try their BBQ or Cheese Steak GF oval. Yum. I always order these take out and the service is excellent. I didn't give them 4 stars because I think they overcook the ovals a bit.

Let me start out by saying that I LOVED this place and I am honestly very sad to give them a poor review, but there is good reason for this which I will get to in just a moment. Their food selection is very diverse (same with the beer list!) and has never been anything short of excellent, the atmosphere is very cool and low key and the service has always been on point at both the restaurant, the bar and the pick-up room. We would frequent this place on a regular basis, until our latest experience this past Friday. My fiance' and I were here on Friday, 8/7/15, and we had a server by the name of Jack. Jack was a strange guy- he seemed way too comfortable with us right from the get-go calling me baby and stealing french fires off of our plates when he would come to check on us. It was a little uncomfortable, but we just chalked it up to him being overly confident/friendly/comfortable as my fiance and I are pretty friendly, down-to-Earth people and easy to have fun with. All was well and good until the end of the night when we had asked for a to-go bag. Jack brought them over to us and wrapped up my food and then my fiance's. He asked what my fiance's name was and I told him. Thinking he was writing his name on the bag, he set the bag down in front of us and walked away. He wrote "DICKHEAD Thanks for eating at Rons!!" on my fiance's to-go bag. WTF?!? SERIOUSLY??? Joking or not, that is NOT cool. The picture of the bag is posted here as well. Needless to say, we were both fuming. We found the floor manager, Steve, and told him about it right away and showed him the bag. Steve looked at me in disbelief and I told him this way over the line and uncalled for. I explained that we are all about having fun with people, but this was completely inappropriate and that Jack did not know us at all to be joking around with us in that sort of a way. Steve said he understood and I asked him what was going to be done about it and he replied that this will cost Jack his job and then we were ushered out the door. No profuse apology or offer to comp our meal or speak to the owner, etc. Your employee just blatantly insulted a regular-visiting, paying customer by calling him a dickhead on paper and all we received was a non-concerned apology and were showed the door. Not satisfied with the way this handled, I called back and spoke with a female manager. She did apologize to us more than once which we appreciated and told us that this was unacceptable but we didn't need to hear the obvious stated again- the option to allow us to speak with the owner, comp our meal, or follow-up as to how this would be handled would have been the right way to handle this. Very disappointing and we won't be back.

Cheese Steak was okay. I came here to do a team building exercise with my company. This is a great place for large groups. We had over 13 people together all at one table. Service was also pretty fast. I guess I'm just not a fan of the cheese steak here. However, the pizza looked great. I'll try that next time.

I don't even want to give them a star!!! I ordered a $15 Blackened Chicken Alfredo and asked for extra chicken and shrimp, they DOUBLED THE PRICE!!! There was no double chicken and only 4 shrimp. WHAT A RIP OFF!!! They are lucky I can't post a photo on here if the ridiculousness they justify for DOUBLING THE PRICE!!! I will continue as I have done to tell EVERYONE about this experience. How do you expect to build trust with customers when you blatantly rip them off??? #boycott #ripoff #cheatscustomers

We have been going to Ron's for years for takeout . The pizzas and especially the Italian Ovals are great . It's fun to get an Oval and then watch Netflix series with my wife . I did read a long negative review and it's a shame a poor , insensitive employee can cause the loss of longtime customers . What this server wrote was unbelievable and this couple should be rightly upset . But I think Yelpers can see that it's not Ron's fault for the actions of this one employee. If Ron's has freed up this this persons future , then they did the right thing to rectify this situation . I am not an employee of Ron's or a relative , just a fellow business owner who can see both sides of this issue .

I like the fact that they make homemade dressings and foods here. There is always a wait for a table so be prepared to wait for your table. The food was fresh and tasty and the menu is very large with something to please everyone in your party. On this night we had turkey melt sandwich, chicken caesar salad, boneless wings (bbq) and sweet potato fries (delish). I would go back to try some more of their entrees and samplers as I liked the quality of their food. I would not try to go on a Friday or Saturday night unless i had lots of time!

This place was amazing! They were able to accommodate our soccer group of 20 plus people with an hour's short notice. The diversity of the menu pleased everyone even if we were overwhelmed at first. The speed in which the food came out was noteworthy. It was hot and fresh. The cheese steaks, wings, pizza, salads, pasta, chili, bread pudding and ice cream were great. The beers and drinks came out at a moments notice. The kids had their own table which was great for the kids and the adults! The band that played for the evening was good and helped elevate the ambience of the restaurant for everyone. All in all we were all pleased and would repeat this place often if we were locals. Morgan, our waitress was phenomenal!

Ron's has a ginormous selection of entrees so come hungry. Our server was attentive and there is a nice white wine selection. I really liked the grilled zucchini. The crab cakes were also good. If you are in the area and want a good meal in a festive environment, check it out.

I ended up here for a lacrosse tournament with my son, and this place was right around the corner from our hotel. We got in late and decided it would be a good place to try. We got seated quickly and the service was great as was the food. I got a Reuben and my son got wings. We were happy enough to recommend it to the rest of the team so we all came back the next night. Nothing like having a party of about 30 show up with short notice, but they handled it well. They got the "boys" (Seniors in HS) seated first while the parents found a spot in the bar. Obviously we couldn't all sit together, but they got they boys in two tables next to each other and a bit later got the parents in two tables in the next room. Again the food was great. I didn't hear a complaint from anyone in the group and the server (Leah) was wonderful. I got the crab cakes. I was a bit hesitant since we weren't quite in Maryland, but I'm glad I did. The crab was very fresh and they were wonderful. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is they told everyone we could only have two checks per table. This led to a lot of quick scrambling for cash and a few trips to the ATM (conveniently located in the bar), and a lot of passing around the check so everyone could settle the tab. I have three kids who travel for sports and and in 10 years and many team dinners have never run into this before. So, if you aren't dropping in with 30 people I would highly recommend it.

We stopped at Ron's with our friends for dinner. They recommended the place based on their carryout experiences and generally, I agree with their recommendations. Not this time. There are two main sections to Ron's; the bar area and the dining area. The dining area is more family friendly; as someone who doesn't care for children, I was immediately wondering if we should have tried our luck in the loud bar area. Honestly, the family friendliness of where we sat was totally fine, good even. What wasn't fine was the mediocre food and downright abysmal service. The menu is unnecessarily large. They have a section for pizzas & strombolis and a separate section for ovals; they're pretty much the same damn thing. The only thing separating them did was confuse us. There were plenty of other sections that could be condensed so that reading the menu didn't feel like we were picking up War and Peace. I went with a pizza; it was marginal. The crust was thick, kind of like a Boboli-style crust. I ate enough to fill me up and offered up the rest to the table. No one at the table was terribly enthusiastic about their meals either. Like I said, service was abysmal. One, maybe two of us could ask her a question before she fled our table leaving the rest hanging. She moved so fast out of the room we were in, you'd think she was on fire. When she left, she left for long stretches of time; it wasn't long before I noticed all of the other tables near us looking equally annoyed beyond belief. When we were ready for the check, we waited an inordinate amount of time before pleading with another server to just give us a check, any check. That server couldn't find her either; eventually she reappeared so we could get the hell out of there. The poor table next to us was still trying to get her attention to place their orders when we left. Our exit was stymied by the live entertainment occupying the entryway. We had to make our way out of Ron's Frogger-style, dodging the folks busting a move. The placement isn't really ideal if you're trying to leave or wait for a table. If the service weren't so awful, I'd probably give this place 2.5 or 3 stars. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back for anything more than a drink.

Ron's is great, if you hit it at the right time. My friends and I are very active at the local community theater, so we eat out in Exton frequently. We love Ron's, however you cannot get a table at dinner time, so go early. They have a pretty extensive menu, but I've never had something I didn't like. Last night I got the housemade spaghetti and meatballs (make your own pasta) and both were delicious. I wish they would start taking reservations so we could frequent them more often!

We were visiting from out of town and choose Ron's because of positive online reviews, and proximity to our hotel. It was a Friday evening, and we were quoted a 45 minute wait, and, luckily for us, we were seated within 20 minutes. Our server was prompt and friendly. We had the calamari appetizer, and it was decent. Our little one was too rambunctious, so be got our dinner to go. My wife got the crab cakes, and I got the BBQ Stomboli. I should say that our food was just okay, and I'm not sure if it was because we got it to go, or because it was just okay. My stromboli was to come with barbecue sauce, but there was no sauce. It was an over-sized portion of a steakumm calzone, which was poor. My wife's crab cakes were similarly average. I give three stars, because of the friendly service, and decent decor. I would be willing to give this place another try, but it was very overpriced, and too crowded, considering its proximity to many other places to eat. I could take it or leave it, and was mildly disappointed, considering the difference between my expectations, and what we got. Had I not read any reviews of this place, I suspect I would have liked it better.

The food here is great. Each visit has been a delight. Was staying near by for work and was pleased to find that this was so good. I was in the Philli area for a month and tried lots of top rated cheesesteaks restaurants. This was the best by far out of all that I tried.

Rons is awesome! Their menu is extensive and everything we've had here has been delicious. The first time we made the trip we stumbled upon half price ovals, which means EVERYONE goes Rons to take advantage of this deal. We were lucky enough to grab bar seats after a few minutes. They have a pretty great beer selection also. Then boom - another surprise - happy hour with some killer specials. We ended up getting to try 2-3 different appetizers, plus an oval, plus a couple beers and walked away very impressed with how reasonable the the bill was. This place is definitely worth the wait if their is one!

This night my darling wife was having a craving for some pizza. So we decided to go to Ron's. We got there at the right time. We were able to get a table within 10 minutes which is very unusual; Ron's is normally very packed. Within a few seconds and she was very nice. So we started our culinary adventure with an order of Broccoli Bites which were deep fried broccoli and cheese covered in a batter. What can I say "Deep Fried with Cheese and Batter", it was a good start. Yes I know that may not have been the most healthy thing to start with but you know you have to live every once in a while. Now to the main meal, Bobi my wife had a craving for pizza as a said earlier, so we perused the menu and finally decided on the double peperoni 12 inch pizza. I have to say Ron's has a plethora of gourmet pizza or you can make your own. We were just going to do the "plain Jane good old American favorite" peperoni. We have some to have a nice conversation as the pizza was being made so we passed the time with a glass of Chardonnay. The pizza came out in a reasonable amount of time. The crust was thin and crisp but when you bit into it the crust was moist and tender. The sauce was perfectly spiced and there was not too much of the sauce to overtake the cheese and peperoni. The amount of cheese was perfectly balanced with the peperoni. We really enjoy our times at Ron's and would highly recommend a meal at Ron's at any time.

Excellent fast service, friendly staff, harmonious environment from my limited observation. delicious food made to order so far for me having come 5 times for to-go only. every thing I have gotten is delicious so far. Recommend the hot beef sandwich, and mussels. I love that they have high quality meats. That is important to me.

Two words: Italian Oval. I would eat it for every single meal for the rest of my life if I could. (Well, I guess technically could... fine, if it was socially acceptable). I've been coming to this place sporadically for years- from way before they moved to this location. Definitely worth the drive to satisfy my oval craving. French fries, iced tea, and beer list are good too. I can't really comment on the rest of their food, since I stick to the Italian Oval- but my mom enjoys their cheesesteak. They also have a bar, which I've never spent time in, and they sell beer to go.

My running buddies and I decided to come here for dinner. There is an extensive beer and wine selection. The wait was about 15 minutes on a Monday night but they do have call ahead seating. The service was prompt and the menu is very large. I enjoyed my eggplant parm and my partners had salads. My only ding is that the dining area is loud and you will hear conversations from other tables.

The food is exceptional with some very unique dishes, it doesn't matter what you order. Some entrees are on the pricey side, but worth it. Service is prompt, attentive and friendly. However, if you're intent is to hang out with a group of friends or see the bands I'd advise against going to Ron's after dinner hours. You can stop reading here, or continue on for the details. What held me back from giving Ron's a higher rating is the bar area. It gets very crowded and has little seating with a very limited area to watch the bands they have on the weekends. Twice I went specifically to see the bands that were playing because I knew some of the members, but was surprised to see they were crammed against the wall in the foyer that customers walk through to enter and leave, yet the restaurant area was vacant after serving hours. The first time I went I found a spot in a corner where I could stand to watch the band, but had to squeeze between people sitting at the bar to order a drink. The next time I went I took my family for dinner and then watch a friend's band. The meal was excellent and when we finished we went to the foyer to watch band. The bar was packed so the only place we could be together was near the door, but the staff made it obvious that we were in their way while they were prepping the hostess station for the next night so we shuffled around a bit to give them room to work and were still able to enjoy the music. Then shortly after 11 pm I ordered a draught at the bar and was told we had to leave because my youngest is under 21. I mentioned that we came for dinner and to see the band, but the bartender seemed genuinely concerned that he could go to jail if we stayed because it was against the law to have a minor in a bar. He was apologetic and polite, and let me order the last drink, but made me close out my tab. Had the bartender said it was against policy, I wouldn't have been too upset, but either he was lying or misinformed about the law because my oldest child is a bar manager and knows PA law quite well. When I said we had to leave and why, she too was surprised, but like me was willing to give the bartender the benefit of the doubt and assume it was poor training, not intentional deception on his part.

Ron's is the best neighborhood bar we could have. They always have a huge beer selection and awesome specials. I could eat their ovals and boneless buffalo wings everyday of my life and die happy. Everything is homemade and it really shows. Their homemade salad dressings are especially delicious. We usually sit in the bar because the decor is way better in there than the dining room. But the bar is usually crowded around dinner time, so it's really the luck of the draw if you get a seat or not. I definitely recommend Ron's for a delicious meal and (usually) excellent service.

Horrible Service today. I sat at the bar and waited over 5 minutes for anyone to great me then I waited another 5 minutes for a menus waited 10 minutes for thw bartender to take my order. The food was good Italian sausage and peppers were worth the wait. After I was finished eating I sat there with an empty glass and waited almost 15 minutes for the bartender to come over and cash me out

Ron's prides themselves in making everything on the menu from scratch, and the menu choices are ample with something for everyone. I've been to Ron's about a dozen times over the past few years, and each time I've gotten a good meal. Today was no exception from previous dining experiences, with a very good cheesesteak. My wife's cheeseburger hoagie was equally good, and the kids really enjoyed their chicken fingers. The cheese fries are served with real cheese whiz (what more could you ask for)! Not a huge fan of the crinkle cut variety as served here, but even so they tasted good. I've also had their pizza and strombolis in the past which I'm a big fan of, and their ovals are awesome as well. They have a very nice selection of rotating craft beers on draft, and it seems that they have drink specials at the bar every night of the week. The prices are fair, even for the well portioned dinner entrees. The decor is pleasing, and the service is pleasant. In summary: If you're looking for a casual place to get a good meal at a good price, you can't go wrong with Ron's.

  • Chris D.

Pricey if you ask me. The food is average and I expected above avg.! I had chicken fettuccine Alfredo with bro ple and mushrooms, came with some garlic toast that's not as good as fazzolis breadsticks and no salad. Water to drink! The tab was $20.14 before tip $25 total if you ask me it wasn't worth it. Had the dinner tasted above average I would say yes it's 4-5 star. I don't wanna punish them too bad but I tried the place last year on a friend's recommendation and wasn't overly impressed. My friend loves it. 3 stars! Plus a fly kept trying to land on my food.

I've ordered delivery from Ron's for years now and am very happy with the service. Their ovals are delicious and their buy-one, get-one is a huge hit in my family. We just had them again tonight and delivery was prompt as usual. This place definitely has my recommendation as a local favorite. Edited: They no longer deliver!! That's very disappointing =(

  • Edward M.

Let me start this review with the fact that it is our go to neighborhood restaurant. My wife and I have always enjoyed excellent meals. Unfortunately tonight was an exception. I ordered pasta with white clam sauce which is what I typically get when I'm not sure what I want. I get it because it has a nice delicate sauce with a lot of flavor. Tonight it came out gloppy and so salty I couldn't eat it and I'm a guy who usually likes his salt. I typically don't complain about my meal but the waitress could tell when she asked that I wasn't thrilled about the meal. To be fair she asked if I wanted something else which I declined. She then came back and said she spoke with her manager and he agreed to take something off the bill. The manager's idea was $4 off the bill which didn't even cover one of the two beers I had. I will go back to Ron's and hope this was an aberration; however, as a long time customer I am extremely disappointed in my meal which I only took a few bites of and the management's response. You'll need to do better next time Ron's to retain me as a customer! Final note, my wife really liked her blackened chicken pasta.

I have a very hard time finding anything wrong with Ron's. We've been here many times and, while I'm not local, my family (who is) has a strong track record with this restaurant. Ron's offers customers a lot of flexibility; we're always here with kids and my wife is pretty picky about healthy food. There are a lot of options on and off the menu (like no carb if you like). We really appreciate the no hormone/antibiotic options for our family. Prices are totally reasonable and the beer list is phenomenal; definitely the best in the area. I've read a couple of the recent reviews and they seem unnecessarily harsh given the experience. However, I don't like seeing owners comment on negative reviews. You'll never see an owner look at a 5 star review and say, "I'm glad you liked your meal, but 5 stars seems like a little too much." So owners take note: keep delivering a superior experience and let the universe work it out in your favor.

I really like Ron's for the fresh ingredients and abundance and variety of food choices. The nachos I must say are most excellent. I like each portion of the menu, but would skip the ovals for something more exciting. If you like variety and want to please everyone with one selection then Ron's is a good choice.

Pizza is delicious! Our server Caroline was super sweet and made the visit even better! The menu options are endless with lunch specials as well. Another little perk is the weekly coloring contest for the kids- that kept my 5 year old entertained :) Only thing I didn't like was that we had to pay $2 extra for my son to have a salad as a side instead of fries etc.

This place is great. The food is amazing and the service is nice. I like the beer selection as well. The wings are tasty and they do have good locally sourced food. Mostly I would go for burgers as s safe route but over all I would try anything on the menu here.

This is your typical neighborhood bar in the suburbs. When visiting my hometown over the holidays I frequently visit here as it is in a great location and perfect place to meet up with a group of people. The bar area is not huge but has a nice atmosphere. They have a great draft and bottle list. The beers can be pricey but they great variety they have makes it worth it. On my last visit I got a pomegranate beer of some sort that was fantastic. My friends ordered chocolate martinis which they loved. There is also a dining room with lots of seating options. I recommend this for families or large parties. The menu is huge often times overwhelming. The have entrees and typical bar food of hoagies, burgers and pizzas. My favorite is there ovals which are specialty like pizzas but often with no sauce. On our last visit we got the chicken cheesesteak oval which was fantastic-all of their cheesesteak hoagies are delicious as well.

It was disappointing when I called to make a reservation for a group of 15 for a special occasion and was told I couldn't make a reservation between 5-8pm. The lady on the phone was short with me and unaccomodating. I would have thought they would be happy to have a large group come in. I will most likely change the location of this celebration now. Very disappointing.

Just ate here for the second time. It was a Sunday night and we were still put on a half hour wait for a party of two. This is definitely a popular spot that's always crowded! The waiting wasn't bad though and soon enough we were seated. This time I tried the chicken Sicilian. It was absolutely delicious and spicy! I have to compliment our server as well. When I ordered the pasta she made sure to check I liked spicy foods. That's definitely not a dish you want to order if you hate spicy! She was also attentive when it came to drinks and clearing plates Second time around it was still a good experience with tasty food. Can't wait to try another dish!

New to the area so stopped in......service was good. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Food was average. (We had chicken gorgonzola; and surf & turf). Beer selection was good. Will probably come back another time but will stick to "bar food"....which seems to have better reviews

In exchanging many e-mails with the owner (who was very quick and willing to discuss the issues), I do agree that overall, the quality of the food is very good to excellent and the selection is huge almost extreme) for a restaurant . The service was poor this evening, but we have had many other good meals at Rons, and aside from being displeased and surprised that a vegetable (or salad) isn't included with the premium italian dinners, we usually enjoy Rons regularly.

We miss the "Ron's Schoolhouse" of yesteryear! However, based on the crowds, they still appeal to a large segment of the population. Be careful - prices add up quickly when they charge additional for BBQ sauce and other condiments that you would expect would be complimentary - and are complimentary at most every other restaurant on the planet.

We've been to Ron's twice and it's been a pleasure both times. I would give a 4.5 star rating if I could, because I have to REALLY have my socks blown off for a 5 star rating and there is always room for small improvements. The first time we came was awhile back, so I don't think it would be fair to rate them on that visit. Although I do remember getting the arancini and they were delicious, but a bit expensive for the amount you got. Fast forward to Saturday, September 6. We got there a tad bit before noon, because I knew they would be filling up fast and with a toddler, waiting is not always a pleasant experience. Got sat right away and my daughter was entertained with copious amounts of crayons right on the table and a coloring contest. Nice touch! The hostess was happy to enter my daughter in the contest and thought her purple and green squirrel was so cute. She was a nice girl. I ordered the chicken salad platter and a cup of the soup dujour, which was Maryland Crab. It was one of the most delicious soups I've ever had! Full of fresh ingredients and bold flavor from generous seasonings. I wanted to lick the bowl! I feel like I would pay for the recipe! The chicken salad platter was a generous portion of their house made chicken salad, which was very good, on a bed of just regular iceberg lettuce. It had tomatoes, bell peppers, and a hard boiled egg as well. I'm picky about chicken salad and I really enjoyed it. Coleslaw was also nice, but the biggest surprise was the house made bleu cheese dressing! I wasn't expecting that, but it was wonderful. Only disappointment was that the breadsticks were the ones that come in a packet, like soup crackers. I was expecting real breadsticks. My husband had the cheesesteak and I tasted it as well. Very nice quality meat and it was pretty tasty! Our guest had a burger which he enjoyed as well. The fries were crinkle cut and delicious. We ordered chicken fingers from the Kid's Menu for our daughter. They were house made and very crispy and flavorful. Like what you would make in your own kitchen. Now, room for improvement and why they didn't get a 5 star rating. I asked for no olives on the chicken salad platter, and it came out with them. A lot of them. Pretty sure the waiter messed this up, not the kitchen. Refills were hard to come by and I left thirsty. Kid's meal is supposed to come with ice cream, but we were never offered it. The menu is a little overwhelming...very, very large and takes a long time to wade through to find maybe what you're looking for. It's nice to have choices, but there may be too many. And I appreciate that everything is made with the highest ingredients and best quality, but I think $6.99 for 3 chicken fingers (the size of chicken fries, really) is a little steep for a Kid's Menu. We thought about getting her a hot dog, but that was also $6.99. Overall, great experience and great food. We will be back when we're in the Exton area again! Thanks!

This place is clutch. Dining area is beautiful and the food is really good for the price point. I happily ate the left overs I took home for lunch the next day. The bar area is small and packed during happy hour but that's because everyone knows how great this place is. Definitely recommend.

Went here for the first time on March 28th 2015... Cannot believe I have not been here before... This place is fantastic, wonderful, great... I had the crab dip which was one of the best I have ever had... I had their pork sandwich that was loaded with the most tender pork you could ever ask for... My wife had their oval which was awesome also... Their craft beer list is awesome... Fast service... Food came out quick and hot... And they have great great prices... And the place is just awesome inside... Cant wait to go back... This place deserves 6 stars... If you want great food at great prices at a very down to earth place go to Ron's...

Good family place. The interior is unique for strip mall restaurant. The bar is cosy. As of the food, it's ok but nothing special.

The ovals!! Oh the ovals are outstanding and always so good. Their craft beers are amazing and their always finding new ones to bring in. Can't go wrong trying any past dishes and their salads are always made fresh. Be ready for a wait on a weekend night but any other night is usually wait free.

Ron's is awesome. I got there all the time, mostly for lunch during the work week. Their oval's are crazy delicious. The service is always solid. The beer list is always filled with a rotating selection of craft beer and they have a pretty extensive bottle list as well.

Has a very similar set up to all bar and grill restaurants, almost seemed liked I had been there before. Order the Nachos! I dislike black olives (no mention of olives on menu description) but still ate every bite of this delicious nacho amazingness. Steak and crab cake tasted okay, similar to everywhere else. Next time I'll just order a large Nachos just for myself.

I hate giving 1 star because I do love the food and had always ordered take out or delivery until tonight... We decided to eat in, worst mistake I have made in a very long time. The waitress we had was horrible and has no reason being a waitress. She took our drink order which was just water until we could look at the beer menu, she came back with the waters and quickly left, not asking if we needed more time. Then finally she came back (by the way there were only about 12 tables in our section and I counted 3 other servers who were actually paying attention to their tables, only 8 of those 12 tables had customers at them) we asked what kind of soup they had, she gave us the choices am tried to walk away again before someone spoke up to actually order the soup and a drink. Once we finally ordered and our food came, she never came back to check on us. She checked the table right next to us twice!! I went to find someone because at this point we were done eating and just wanted a box for the leftovers. I encountered another waiter and told him what happened and shortly after our waitress appeared to say, not sorry not an apology but.... Do you need anything else?! Are you kidding me?! Ron's you disappointed a faithful customer tonight... I will never recommend this as a sit down restaurant but I may still order take out or delivery. That's a big may too. Dang such a disappointment! So sad

After a kayak paddle at Marsh Creek State Park with the TakeItOutdoorsAdventures… group eight of us when to Ron's for eats and brew. It was the first time at Ron's for my wife and me and we will be back... I had a BBQ Chicken Oval and Smuttynose Vunderbar Pilsner draft and they were great. Cool place, nice folks, big menu, great service, top notch...Ron's will be a regular stop for us after Marsh Creek paddles

Great wings, buffalo chicken stromboli is artery clogging delicious. Ovals (pizza) are ok and the sandwich list is long and tasty. Beer selection is phenomenal and a great place to go to watch a game, drink, eat and hang out with great friends at the bar. The seating is good for groups and for families. This is not a romantic couple spot. Enjoy the food and the service. This place will not disappoint. I've eaten here at least 5 times and gotten take out more than 5 times.

Obviously a local favorite--people willing to wait 30 minutes on a Saturday night. Menu is almost overwhelming--so many different choices we needed the wait just to peruse the menu! Crab artichoke appetizer, Hawaiian pizza, spicy chicken and crab over pasta--all were good. Food is a bit salty, but we enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. Nice place, worth the wait.

Went here with my mother for dinner after she received a coupon in the mail. We waited 15 minutes for a table for two, even though there were plenty of empty tables in the dining room. Maybe they were reserved, but they were still empty even after we had finished eating and paid. The food was okay. I got a sausage sandwich with peppers and onions, supposedly one of their specialties, but I honestly thought it was on par with a sausage sandwich you could get at a street fair. Maybe even worse, considering it was $8 without tax and tip, and street food would have been $6 max. It also didn't come with anything, not even fries... um, okay. Good for my waistline, I guess. My mother got spicy shrimp with sausage, which she seemed to enjoy, and the portion size was good for her, but probably wouldn't fill up someone with a bigger appetite. Service was okay, kept our drink glasses full but didn't really stand out to me either. Probably wouldn't come back on my own, but wouldn't say no if someone offered to take me.

I come here all the time. They have a great beer selection. They have great service in the bar. The dining area can be really slow, but I always go when it is busy, so that might explain it. Love the taco salad with beef, the wings, sandwiches and the ovals!

Give me more of that chicken pesto gnocchi, s'il vous plait, Ron's! :-D I think that Ron's got the Italian cuisine thing down, don't you? Well, if you haven't been to Ron's before, there are two reasons why you hadn't: 1. you don't have a reason to travel relatively far to have Italian food; or 2. you are crazy. The food tasted fresh even though we ate late on Sunday night. But it was the way Ron's atmosphere felt that sealed the deal for me - it wasn't a chain restaurant, nor was it trying too hard to make out-of-the-box creations that were too weird. Yes, the menu is extensive, but these guys deliver too! Ron's is a living legend in Exton, going on 23 years as an establishment. And yet, many of the food items on the menu have stayed the same. Even the way the old school menu STILL tastes has stayed the same according to one testament :-) I am impressed, and I hope that I get to come to Ron's as many times as I can. Thank you for the dining experience :-)

The ultimate in Pennsylvania dining experiences, and a staple of my entire childhood; I wouldn't be the person I was today if it wasn't for Rons' constant stoic, yet comforting presence. Their menu variety is very impressive, and I've never regretted ordering anything. The delivery is always timely for when you just can't bring yourself to go back in the restaurant for the 8th time this month, and takeout is a perfect option too if you just wanted to make an appearance. I really can't imagine anyone choosing anywhere else for their restaurant of choice. Unless they hate cheesesteaks crafted by the very hands of gods or something.

Recommended overall. I've dined here several times over the course of a dozen or so years, and there's definitely been an effort to take the place more upscale over the past two or three years. But there's really no disguising Ron's more humble diner origins. Food is good, and reflects this areas preference for food just a bit on the bland side. The ovals are a nice feature, and worth exploring. I've never had a bad meal here, and the service is usually good. Where it comes up short for me is in the space itself. The tables are crowded a bit, and are quite small. The silverware is of the cheapest variety... One step above plastic. Prices are reasonable, although never a real bargain. What surprises the most is the variety of the beer list. In this respect, the place has improved markedly over the years, always with something out of the ordinary. Overall, recommended as a pleasant occasional dining spot.

I'm giving two stars because I think the bar area, which is what I am most interested in, is poorly designed. It's too small, too crowded. And families who are waiting to be seated in the restaurant are sitting in the bar area taking up valuable space. I was so disgusted the last time because right as I was walking into the door to go to the bar, a family who had checked in at the front decided to go wait in the bar area. They took the only last open seating area not right at the bar. I suspect there are many people like me who would love to grab a bite and drink in the bar area but with only four or five bar tables, and a few other seats that seem to only be used by those waiting for the dining room, the place fails.

I am highly impressed with Ron's, particularly their Tuesday night trivia events. The questions and challenging, but not impossible, and not heavily focused on any one catagory. The beer selection is great; there are also plenty of options if you prefer hard ciders or even nitro brews. The food is above average bar food. It tastes great, but is excessively greesy. Prices are very reasonable. The detractors are the crowded bar scene and the sometimes slower service. The slow service comes from the crowded bar, and the bar is crowded because it is such a fun time.

I took my mother there for dinner, just after Christmas. I had an allergic reaction to a mystery ingredient. The owner refuses to give a list of ingredients, hiding behind proprietary rights. Having eaten at some amazing restaurants with amazing chefs, the food is is mediocre at best. I have never met a chef that wouldn't list ingredients or provide them in the case of an allergy unless they are hiding a flavor additive, or just quite frankly being a jerk!

We only sit at the bar when we visit. It's good to check their tap list before you go, especially if you are a beer geek. They get some great specialty brews, but they still cater to the Macro-Beer crowd, too. Three full refrigerators of bottles are available, too, along with a full bar. Their menu is extensive! Extensive! We have become fans of their pizza (not to be confused with their Ovals, which are kinda like pizza), the crab bruschetta is excellent and their mussels are quite good. I think we should try other items on the menu, but if it ain't broke... We've always had great service on our visits. One thing to keep in mind is that the bartenders also work the tables, so you may need to wait a bit when sitting at a high-top.

Usually good but I paid $17.00 for a pasta dish without a salad for carryout. When I got home I saw that there were no meatballs on my pasta which I paid $3.00 for and only a mini order of "tomato" garlic bread. I ordered an extra order of "tomato" garlic bread but did not receive it. At any other Italian restaurant I would have had plenty of food because pasta is so cheap but at Ron's it was barely enough for dinner for one. What a sad statement. I consistently get carryout pasta at several other places for about $13.00 WITH SALAD and get 2-4 meals from each meal. Even Maggiano's gives you a "pasta to go" for an average price of $16.00. Ron's is overrated. And I must also say that the regular bartender is a jerk to me although I have always tipped him.

Good food, great craft beer selection and awesome bartenders. I'm here weekly but was hesitant to write review because gets more crowded every time here. But, finally have to pass it along. Check it out! Only reasonable complaint here is usually the wait because crowded.

Burgers were good, tasty, with creative combinations, such as their burger with pesto, asparagus, and prosciutto. Their fries were also good. The biggest disappointment was their house salads. Simple iceberg lettuce with a few things on top. Could be better.

I'm here for business and read great reviews so ordered delivery to my hotel room...unfortunately it seems like I may not have communicated what I wanted correctly to the nice girl on the phone, but I received an order w a name similar to what I wanted (and couldn't pronounce) with some DELICIOUS french onion soup, and yes, that i knew how to say :). I called to make the manager aware (with him knowing I don't even live here and therefore naturally may not be return business) and he immediately offered to send out the correct dish at no charge going just by my word. I wish more places were like this these days and will be undoubtedly referring and recommending all of my friends that come in and out of this area consistently to this place. As a sidenote the other dish was extremely generous w seafood and smelled great but was in a red sauce which I can't eat. Thank you!!

We'll definitely go back. The spinach-artichoke dip is among the best I have ever ordered anywhere. Wings are good, sandwiches are huge. Not sure about the fuss over the "ovals." ...it's a pizza. Maybe I ordered the wrong one, I'm willing to try it again. Good beer list, and a very friendly staff. Prices are reasonable. It isn't gourmet, but for bar food, it outshines some of the others in the area.

I didn't realize how great I had it working a football field away from Ron's until our office moved 10 miles east. I was introduced to Ron's during BOGO ovals week in February of 2009 and from that point on, everytime I've gone I think I've gotten on oval over anything else. Their "white" oval is one of the greatest concoctions I've ever had the pleasure of having. Literally it's a personal sized white pizza (oval in shape) and smothered with herbs and spices and it takes the bland thought you may have in your mind about ordering a white pizza into an explosion of flavor in your mouth. I actually have had many other things on their menu and have been enamored with everything else I've tried. Their beer selection is amazing...from the regular bar staples to refrigerators full of craft brews that are constantly changing. Do yourself a favor and grab an oval and a craft brew and you'll be hooked like I am. It's worth the trek out that way, every time.

I've been to Ron's at least 5 times and every time has been great. The service is fast and courteous, the food is always great, and the music on the weekends gets the house rockin. I highly recommend for a neighborhood place with good food, and good value. You may need to wait, so just get yourself a beverage and enjoy the company you're with.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
