Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

This is my new favorite pizza. Too bad I live 120 miles away from Pizza L'Oven. Why can't NJ make a pizza this good? It is a deep pan type of pizza with a crispy, delicious crust. The sauce is light and not your typical paste type sauce, and it contains onions, which I love. I am in love with both the red and the white! Please come to central NJ!

  • Andrew E.

First time here! Awesome! The wings were perfect, large, crispy but not dried out..beer was ice cold. The red pizza was delicious, too. We had a large party and the place was busy..we received our meals relatively quick. The restrooms were spotless! Our waitress was very efficient!! I'll be back!!

Man, I couldn't wait to eat some of their pizza because its been a long time. I'm sorry to say it's not as good as I remember. The crust was way too thick and the overall taste was bland. I'm not opposed to unhealthy pizza, this just didn't do it for me.

  • Peter M.

Pizza L'oven has delicious fried pizza and in my opinion some of the best wings in the Wyoming Valley. Don't come here expecting to eat healthy! The pizza is baked with a full ladle of oil in the pan so the crust basically fries in the oven. The result is a golden, crunchy crust on every bite. I always order my wings hot and extra crispy. They come out perfect about 95% of the time and the other times they're still edible. They have added some specialty pizzas to their menu through the years including taco, broccoli and cheese, chicken wing and BLT. I've tried all of them and they're good, but the extra toppings make them even heavier; two slices and I'm stuffed. Tips from a local (me): Ask for a side of mayo with the BLT pizza or blue cheese with the chicken wing pizza and spread a little on the top, it's really good. If you're ordering the regular pizza you have the option of onion or no onion. Get it with onion, its not overpowering and the flavor they add takes the pizza to another level. Even if you don't like onions, get it with onion (or else!).

This is no hyperbole: I could eat Pizza L'oven buffalo wings every day of my life and never tire of them. Superior quality, superior price. Tasty pizza too. But I'm a wing man and I love these wings

  • Tara M.

By far the best pizza I've ever had in my life. I moved out of the area over a year ago and always make it a point to stop at Pizza L'oven for my fix. Cheesy, gooey, crunchy glory... So good!

The pizza has no sauce and is horrible doughy Give you a stomach ache Wings are overcooked and smothered in butter sauce

I've eaten at some of the most talked about pizza joints in the country, including Frank Pepe's in New Haven. NEPA pizza is a breed all it's own. Pizza L'oven gets it right, every time. It tastes the same as it does 20 years ago. Yes, the crust is greasy. Yes, there are onions in the sauce. Yes, it's a CUT, not a SLICE. Personally, I think the pizza tastes much better the next day after "setting up" in the fridge over night, but only when you re heat it in the oven and not the microwave. Top 5 pizza joint for me.

  • Mark R.

My favorite pizza for several years now. Nothing else satisfies me like this crunchy fried crust, just enough sauce and onion, and lots of cheese. A couple at a time is plenty, especially if you order wings too. A decent beer selection of beer for a small pizza joint. I recommend trying it once.

When I'm back "home" to visit my parents I go to pizza l'oven. I loved it growing up and I love it now. Everyone there is very nice. Service is good. Home made pierogis are excellent. Pizza rocks. Yea it can be greasy and heavy. But that's what it is!

  • Matt P.

While the pizza here is very good, it's more of a place I want to go occasionally than as a regular. The fried crispy crust is a great change up and while I don't mind that it's a little greasy, that's going to keep me from going there more than once a month or so. There are a couple of other places near by with a similar crust, but out of all of them this place has the best pizza as well as the nicest inside seating area. I haven't really eaten too much other than the pizza, I can say the wings are also good and better than what I had expected.

love the Pizza and the wings, house salad was poor, beer was cold, staff was the best, would recommend!

We had a horrible experience during Lent. They were out of pizza dough and refused to make more 2 hours before closing. Plus, their pizza just isn't as good as it used to be. Also, the chicken wings tasted like burnt feathers. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, anywhere else really. There are at least 3 other much better places nearby.

  • Colin P.

"Gut bomb" is right. Very good wings and excellent pizza. Usually. Out of many satisfying visits, only one has been disappointing. The wings were treated with such disregard (horrifically overcooked, then placed in a pool of sauce rather than tossed) that they were barely edible. The pizza was dry and thin during that same visit. They have about eight or so beers on tap, which seems like a lot for this kind of place. The atmosphere is fairly basic, pretty brightly lit and very clean. Some of the other reviews mention the pricing. Expensive? At $1.28 per slice and 57¢ per wing, the pizza is pretty much a bargain (my favorite place in Old Forge charges $1.20 for a piece that's smaller and not fried with less cheese), and the wings are priced on par with everywhere else. Pizza L'oven is the only reason I can think of for me to navigate through the labyrinth known as Pittston.

Food of the Gods! I drive up from Philly just to have this pizza. Nothing like it in the world. Wings are great also.

In response to Nicholas, Thank you for airing your affiliation bias early on. I appreciate that. But I am shocked that I had to be the first to post a listing and review for Victory Pig and that the Pizza Perfect listing has the wrong address. Why am I shocked? Well, Pizza L'oven is good but they make verifiable copies of Victory Pig's flagship. It's the same spin off Old Forge pizza (fried crust in a thin coating of peanut oil?). The differences matter and L'oven just comes off as a cheaper cousin who isn't much cheaper anymore. When I've had the option I choose the alternatives. However, VP has weird hours and Trucksville is out of the way from The Ave. Pizza L'oven still makes some solid pizza from what I can remember.

  • Nicholas M.

To reply to the last reviewer, the dough is freshly made every day. I know this because I used to work there. The toppings go on the raw dough and it's cooked in an oven. If you don't like the method of cooking this pizza, which is a unique style, then don't eat it. That's what keeps customers coming back, it's a similar style to Victory Pig. The wings are great, I suggest hot or hooters.

Due to PA's dumb liquor, beer and wine laws, I go here while in town to buy 6 packs of beer. Their selection includes the usual mass market stuff and a few decent selections like Harpoon, Magic Hat #9. They also sell homemade frozen for $6.50/dozen. I haven't tried them, so just throwing that out there.

  • Lisa M.

The pizza and wings are to die for, its the price that makes it lose a star. The pizza is the 'fried" pizza variety, with a thick crispy crust, chunky tomato sauce and plenty of mozzarella cheese. It's very greasy which is part of what makes it so good. It's wonderful but it will cost you a fortune to feed your family here. You can get the same pizza at Sizzle Pi for half the price. I enjoy the wings too but they are small and expensive for wings.

  • Tony B.

Total gut bomb. I love this place. couldt eat it every day but when I am back in the hood. 6 slices and some crispy wings are a must.

    (3)
  • Gino M.

I agree with the first reviewer, except for her giving them 4 stars. Their food is super greasy! I think they use pre-made square pizza crust and then cook it by deep frying it. This is what makes the crust crispy, but also super greasy. Then they add sauce, cheese, and any toppings to the greasy crust and bake it for a few minutes to melt the cheese. I've had their pizza a few times, and after eating 2 slices I feel like I've eaten a pound of lard. Talk about a heart attack waiting to happen! Do your arteries a favor and avoid their food.

  • Stefanie T.

I've only been here at lunch time so that's all I can speak for. The pizza I think is great, especially the crust, but there is so much grease on the pizza that after two slices you start feelin' kind of sick. The appetizers that we've tried as well have tasted great, but also just taste greasy. So if you want good tasting food that you might need to take a few tums after eating this is a great place to go!
