I love this place. It is almost done being renovated and looks awesome. The food is fantastic and never disappoints. The crowd is very nice people. I will be happier when it goes smoke free next month.

Totally my favorite local pub. Recently renovated and now smoke free! Outstanding! Very friendly, helpful, and efficient staff, owners always there to welcome newcomers (hang out for the evening and Joe is likely to buy you a drink). Atmosphere very friendly. Food is excellent with quick efficient service - want something special and chat up the waitress who will take care of you with a smile. Best cheesesteak in Delco and I've tried them from all over. Outdoor seating for the upcoming great weather. This place can't be beat. Owners make Monaghan's a part of the community always willing and ready to help others out. Integral part of Tinicum. Thanks, Monaghan's, in more ways than you know. Check this place out if you stop in town.

Food was fantastic, if I was a local, I'd frequent this pub regularly. The owner introduced himself both times with s handshake, bartenders were friendly and prompt. A really neat "community" feel.

The name has actually changed to just Monaghan's and the new bar and patio are amazing. The food is still wonderful and the shep pie and French onion soup continue to please. Best cheese steak and wings! Bar is none smoking with an enclosed, heated patio for the smokers. No clue what German S. Is talking about, must be a different bar altogether

Great people and so much fun! Stumbled in on Sept 13th and found a celebration of "halfway to St Patrick's Day'. Great basic bar food, great selection of beers, but the best part are the friendly people.

This pub lies about three miles out of the way for those staying without a car in the airport interplex. It's worth it if you can get out to Essington, right across from a shiny, clean Wawa. Many enjoy a good smoke or a drink outside in the patio. Inside, it looks like an anonymous local bar you'd find in Smallville anywhere, too, but don't let that fool you. I'm on a red meat avoidance program so I ordered the open faced turkey platter for pickup. One of the servers immediately asked if I was there for takeout and I took my prize home in the relentless summer heat in minutes. The pale lifeless slices of white bread seem at odds with the flavorful gravy and piles of moist turkey breast heaped on top of them. The mashed potatoes are great and I finished my messy meal with much satisfaction knowing I paid less than $10. I hear the Philly cheesesteak at Monaghan's is melt in your mouth goodness, but don't know when I'll be out there again to test that claim. A rare hotel recommendation earning the hype. Weird Asian girl sez "Check it out."

Just stopped in for a snack around 9; nice-size crowd for Essington. Really courteous and prompt staff. Food looks and tastes good. Mind you, I only ordered fries and a tossed salad (fresh vegetables (no brown spots or wimpy picks) and nicely executed fries (and a good portion of them, too!)). Might have eaten in, except the bar smelled like, well, a bar and that's not incredibly appetizing if you're not drunk. The music wasn't to my liking either, but I can hardly hold them accountable for my preference in music. Barkeep was even nice enough to give me a glass of water while I waited. I might stop back in again before I go, seems a friendly place.

Nice find in a quiet area.. I've been here twice now when staying over locally. Small place with an outside area. The bar is rather long so there is plenty of room. The two times I've been here it's been quiet but that's not a bad thing. Drinks: cold Food: very good Service: good I will say that the wings here are excellent! Non breaded buffalo is the way to go.

The cheesesteaks here are a must try! They might be the best in the suburbs. My friends and I were pleasantly surprised by quality of this place and we'll definitely come back for the good food, good service, and affordable prices. The burgers and shepherds pie looked great as well but didn't have a chance to try them.

Sometimes ya just wanna eat meat!!!! Cute little neighborhood pub that my BF found while perusing Yelp. He had cheeseburger platter and wings and loved both.I had Shepards pie which was full of beef and satisfying. The beer selection was really really good. We marveled at how reasonably priced The beer selection was. Coronas for a song! Almost half the price of what it will be in the city. If you're looking for a good meal reasonably priced with good service stop in here

  • Scott E.

Good food, cold beer, pub atmosphere, a strong but not unpleasant sense of "local". The menu is fairly short, typical pub food, done well, not fancy, and priced reasonably. Being a pub, it's "seat yourself" which I noticed confused one or two parties when they arrived. Not a big issue, the local quirks are part of the fun of not going to a chain restaurant. The only complaint I could make is that food was a little slow, for which the bartender apologized profusely and without any suggestion from me of a problem (it wasn't a problem; I had nothing else to do). Even that would be a very small complaint. Overall, I would go back without hesitation the next time I'm in the Philly airport area overnight.

We had the buffalo chicken cheese steak, regular cheese steak, and some wings based off of other reviews...all 3 were better than advertised! The bartender was awesome and the locals at the bar we're welcoming too! Highly recommend this place if you stumble onto it!

Flew into Philadelphia for work for only a short time and knew that I had to find somewhere that served cheese steak. Yelp helped me locate Monoghan's and I must admit the cheese steak was delicious. The service was excellent, I sat at the bar and had a guiness from the tap. It was also nice and cold. All in all, a worthwhile place with a good atmosphere and excellent cheese steak. If I return to Philly, I would stop here again!

This is a solid place to go for cold beers and decent, well priced food. I had the Shepherd's Pie, it was spot on. The wife had the roast pork, also very good. The service was good; the staff seems to be generally hard working and social. I always say that consistency is paramount in every business. Monoghans has consistently been good, on many levels, in my eyes and deserves a 5 all around. They poured a perfect Guinness to boot. I am not always in Essington, but when I am, I am spending my money here.

I have never experienced service this bad in my entire life. I seated myself, had to ask a waitress for a menu, waited 25 minutes before I asked the bartender to bring me a water and then my original waitress finally showed with my meal, water and check. She missed part of my order, so I went and asked for the rest of my order, and then watched the waitress serve the other table what I was waiting on. Twice!!! At this point, she comes over and wants the money. I remind her of the missed order and she gives me a million excuses, emphasizing how I shouldn't expect too much since she is busy and tells me she gave me my water for free. What a joke!

My son and I went to this restaurant hoping it would yield the kind of experience it was rated for. If you like 1960's and 70's rock and roll music, it doesn't get better. The building is old, but the interior looks brand new. We started with chili nachos and we would have been smart to stop there as they were great tasting, had extra salsa, peppers and sour cream. But I had an open faced roast beef sandwich with extra gravy and my son had the Shepard's Pie. Both were nicely done and way more than enough to eat. The result? We both agree we would go back and further explore the menu.

THE BEST place to get a cheesesteak and chicken cheesesteak ever!! Come visit with the nicest, most welcoming locals. You won't be disappointed--the beer us cold, has a variety of beer and all food is delicious. A non-smoking beautiful newly renovated bar. Has a nice patio for smoking with a warm heater.

What can be said about an Irish pub serving Yuengling and catering to the locals. Not much, except for it being a hole in a wall with a varied clientele and a solid selection of beers on tap. It offers affordable pricing, and a loud crowd anyone can appreciate. It's not a kind of place you a bring a date, but if you're down to throw down a few with your pals, it's hard to beat.

Talk about some good food! This place is great, and some cold black gold makes it better. SMOKE FREE with a nice patio outside. I had the crab cakes and they tasted of a 5 star restaurant. I was desperate to find a new place to eat in Delco. I checked Yelp and found this place. The entrance is weird. There's no sign on the door to let you know where the entrance is, but thankfully we found it. The staff was really friendly and the bar itself is gorgeous. After reading reviews, I now know that they recently renovated it. Plenty of TV's, lots of seating and even though we didn't take advantage of it, the outside seating area looked pretty nice. Food was on point, though the menu wasn't very substantial - we ordered standard wings, fries and cheesesteaks. I was disappointed in their website though. For a place that put so much time and money into their bar, they should put some effort into their website.

I stumbled upon this place because I was desperately avoiding Denny's and the diner near my hotel. This place is definitely a pub. I can't really imagine bringing children here (I'm not even sure it's allowed), but I suppose you could try. This is absolutely a locals bar. I am not a local. BUT, I ended up chatting all night with the people at the bar. Super nice people. I had the cheesesteak and it was actually amazing. I am not a cheesesteak connoisseur, but it was pretty delicious. If you're staying at the hotels around here, this is WAY better than the diner and Denny's. Come here instead.

My favorite hometown pub. Not just "bar food"...I've had just about everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Tight knit family business, but everyone who works there is awesome! They are making major improvements now which will surely enhance your experience...if you are anywhere near this place, do yourself a huge favor an stop on in!

I've been here a few times and recently tired their legendary Shepard's Pie, which did not disappoint! It reminded me of a wonderful home cooked meal. Had the French Onion Soup the other night and it was among the best I've ever had. Can't wait to come here on a cold winter night and have some hot French Onion! Looking forward to their expansion being complete, should turn out to be a really nice place.

We didn't eat here technically. We arrived at our hotel late and were looking for a place to go. At first we thought Monaghan's was a bit of a dive but my girlfriend convinced me to go in. They weren't serving food that late but the staff and patrons were so helpful trying to find us a place that was still open. They even handed us their personal phone that had an app for nearby pizza and chinese food places. The five stars are for the people. Philly sometimes gets a bad rap for courteousness but believe me this is the kindest city.

After searching for a decent Irish Pub in Philly to stop on our way through, with no good result, I searched for near my current location and found this gem, the luck of the irish you might say, on St. Paddys weekend. All reviews are accurate that this is a great locals place yet all are welcome. And the Guinness was poured to perfection with the shamrock on top. Burger was tasty and inexpensive. Best fries we've had in a while. Will def stop off next time coming north on 95.

Like all the reviews said, this place makes you feel like family. Everyone's friendly! My new favorite pub in Delaware county. This is a true neighborhood Irish pub. Home made dishes. Grab a pint and enjoy the crowd, they're all friendly! I STRONGLY URGE you to get the Shepard's Pie. The Best I've ever had anywhere out! The Beef is Tender and Flavorful. The Potatoes are Fluffy and Fresh! This is one hot Irish Pub! My new favorite. It's Worth the trip to check this place out! One Important Note, this is a SMOKING PUB! Their ventilation system is very good, however, there is smoking.

Love this little local pub. Friendly people and the food is above typical bar food--real homemade!!! Our favorite spot going or coming from NJ to the airport.

Great place! Had the meatloaf. The gravy has Worchester in it, giving it a good tang. Wife had the burger and was VERY happy.

Absolutely horrible. So smoky we couldn't even stay long enough to order. This is NOT a restaurant! Just a bar!
