VERY BAD SERVICE. I hadn't been there in years! (Because not usually in area for breakfast.) Went with two other individuals. Small, clean place. Diner style counter. Server did not greet upon entering. A few minutes for menu, barely looked at us and I had to say 'hello' first. I watched the server while she worked. Did not offer us coffee nor brought silverware when preparing silverware for another table and the counter customer who had just walked in. He sat at the counter and got both silverware and coffee. ..before us! I was done! We walked out! I told her, as we walked out, we waited too long and he got coffee before us! I gave them 2 stars only because they're local and have been in business a long time. I would return, though, to give them another try; maybe she was just a bad waitress

My wife and I went there for breakfast and waited 5 minutes before the waitress set the table. Only a few people were there and well into their meals. Waited another 5 minutes and another customer came in and he was immediately waited on. We got up and left. I felt like I was in the twilight zone.

As indicated in the previous reviews, Russ' Dinor has a loyal clientele. The food is great, but it is the outstanding service that really sets it apart. I can only eat here once a year since I no longer live in Erie. However, the coffee is always ready for me as soon as I walk in the door and I can still order "the usual." It is amazing how the proprietor knows all of her regular customers' orders.

While visiting nearby I decided to pop over for lunch one day. It's a very small place and you can tell that nearly everyone there is well acquainted with everyone else. That sort of vibe is sort of nice even if you aren't a part of it. I ordered a burger and fries. The price was very reasonable but I would have preferred to pay a bit more for a bigger burger. I like a somewhat thick burger cooked medium, this was a very thin patty - definitely well done. It was ok but not great. The fries appear to be fresh cut which is nice. They were quite good.

Dinor food gets 3 stars. The service, vintage charm and cleanliness get another star. Cleanliness goes a long way with me and I would eat here vs. The Zodiac.

Standard diner fare. Clean and quick service. Appears to be family owned with lots of regular customers. We enjoyed our breakfast and would definitely stop back the next time we're in the area.

As I work 2nd shift, it's sometimes difficult to get to Russ's Dinor as it's only open until 6pm weekdays, but after many times driving by this absolutely pristine classic 50's style dinor (it's spelled dinor in these parts, apparently) I had to make time to step in and grab a late lunch. When I arrived on a chilly northwest Pennsylvania afternoon, there was a small group of what looked like regular patrons, blue collar, older folk. Behind the counter was the proprietor, Diane, running the show behind the grill, and her two lovely daughters Rachel and Ruth were taking orders and helping out. I loved the ambience, the place was totally frozen in time! The payphone in the corner, although 50 cents, was the old style rotary phone! Did I mention everything here is homemade? I ordered the Meatloaf sandwich and fries, everything covered in a delicious brown gravy, free coffee refills (cream in a metal decanter, not those tacky little plastic barrels,) and everything was spot on, just like it had been for many years. The banter and back and forth conversation was pleasing, everyone teasing each other back and forth, and the hard sale on the dessert was pretty intense, I decided to avoid the harassment and order the Apple Dumpling. Sure glad I did as it was the highlight of my meal. With the same metal decanter of cold milk on the side, I devoured the huge dumpling, which looked like an entire apple halved and baked inside a flour shell. Service was equally friendly and curt, something I expect from a diner (or dinor as it were.) Don't want to be patronized, and I like when I get a little sass with my meal. This place didn't disappoint in any way. I will be back soon for breakfast and see what's good...meet me there!
