We used to visit this M&E often when we lived in Erie (~10 years ago)and it was so good that the kids asked to go back for a second visit during our brief Erie vacation. The service was exceptional both times. Food was fresh and there were no problems with special requests. Yes it's a chain but it's a good chain that gets better all the time. The Erie location is easy to find, serves great food, and makes you feel like a guest rather than a chore. If you're looking for a place that's good for families and won't break the bank, check this one out. If you're staying at a hotel, you can order and take your food to go but the ambience is fun and casual and you may not want to miss it (or the make-your-own-sundae bar).

Max & Erma's came recommended from a local at Presque Isle State Park. Though the restaurant is a chain, it's not one with which we were familiar. We also lucked out and arrived on Free Cookie Wednesday. I ordered the Spicy Cajun Tilapia, which came with green beans and roasted potatoes. The potatoes were a nice mix of potatoes and sweet potatoes. I thoroughly enjoyed the fish as well, and my friend loved the tortilla burger. The server was incredibly attentive throughout our dinner, and of course, the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies ended the meal delightfully. Great service and food overall, especially for a chain!

Food was decent, service wasn't great. We went for lunch and both of us ordered soup and a sandwich. One of us received our soup right away and we were told the other cup would be out in a minute...the other cup arrived 10 minutes later with the sandwiches! Our order was wrong...maybe they were just having a bad day. Don't think we will visit there again with so many other choices in the area.

I was pretty disappointed in this place. I have never heard of this chain and we had just ended the day's travel on a long roadtrip. It was the only thing open near us. The place was very messy and really needed to be vacuumed, there was napkins and all sorts of debris on the floor. Also, despite being one of the very few customers - we we're ignored often. We almost left as no one came over to us once we were seated for quite some time. the food was ok - nothing special. I would really have to be desperate to come back to this establishment again.

This is worth the trip just for the Laredo Steak - a juicy sirloin that is a crime to cook past rare smothered in their delicious cactus butter. As far as the chain restaurants in Erie go, it's one of the best.

Eh... completely average across the board. Typical chain fare.

This place has a tacky/chain quality to it that i didn't find off-putting but might not be everyone's cup of tea. The food was a small step ahead of other chain food. It was really nice that they give you the option to switch any of your sides. The staff was really friendly and the prices were very reasonable. They have interesting little specials, one night they gave me cookies for free. There are plenty of options within walking distance of this place but I came back a couple of times over the week I spent in Erie.

I haven't eaten here for years but came here twice when 20% of your bill gets donated to the Erie Animal Network and glad I did! Best veggie burger that I've ever had and they help out the local animal shelter, can't go wrong!

Black bean burger is great! They have 2 fat free salad dressings - a real plus. The tomato basil soup was wonderful. If servers were a little more attentive, I would have it 5 stars. My wife had the salmon which was very good.

I've driven by this restaurant numerous times and had wanted to try it but since I'm a visiting student and don't really know anyone in Erie, I figured I would never get a chance to try (I don't believe in going to restaurants by myself....awkward much?). Lucky for me, the clinic I've been working at has had a few Drug-Rep lunches, one of which was supplied by Max & Erma's :) And boy, was it yummy!!! We had the Apple Chicken Pecan Salad (with both fried and grilled chicken), and it was soooo good!!! All the ingredients were fresh, and the vinaigrette it came with was just tangy enough without being too strong. It also came with bread rolls that were so garlic-y and delicious, I splurged and ate two of them! If I get a chance, I will definitely come by again and grab one of their burgers....

I'm not from the area but came in for a overnight at Presque Isle so we stopped for dinner. The hostess was seating us in the bar area while the dining room was almost empty. I asked her why and she said "that's the next in the rotation". Geez give me a break. Bartender was our waiter - he was less than attentive or helpful. Next time, there are 400 more choices in the area to go to.

This is ONE of my favorite American restaurants. They have a wide variety of menu selections. Soup, salads, sandwiches, dinners. The chicken tortilla soup and the pretzels are my favorite! I have never had bad service here, the waiters and waitresses are friendly.

Holy hell it is dark in there. I thought it was one of those eating in the dark things you can get into while in vegas. Where you need night vision to see the very food you are trying to eat. I had to use the light from my cell phone to read the menu and jesus, the font on the menu was insanely small and I have very good eyes. They are a hamburger place with a steak on the menu but I would not go there for a streak there is a firebirds down the street which has great steak. Its ok for kid but nothing for a real solid meal.

We like eating her for the value. We're in their "Good Neighbor" program and get discounts or free food regularly. It's kid friendly, the staff's well trained and personable, and has an interesting menu. Even when it's busy, there never is a long wait.

Yum yum yum. Chicken tortilla soup with the tortilla burger. Can't go wrong! Funnel cake fries for dessert! Free warm chocolate chip cookies on Wednesdays.
