Since Gus' had a line out the door for breakfast on Sunday morning, decided to try Ella's for the first time. Sorry, we did. We were seated immediately and our order taken quite fast. We were given the "breakfast menu" and ordered the usual stuff: eggs, pancakes, no substitutions. Coffee was served promptly. It went downhill from there. We waited close to 30 minutes for our order. Why? We didn't order anything that could not have already been basically ready in the kitchen. Upon asking the waitress if there was a special reason for the delay, she apologized but didn't really have an answer. When the food finally arrived, it was another let down. The pancakes were less than average, as were the home fries. While the scrambled eggs tasted the usual, they looked to be scrambled by a child: all broken up and without a nice presentation. When we got the bill, the prices on it were different from the ones on the menu we were given. Were told that since it was past 11:00 am, we now had to pay the regular breakfast prices. I suggested that they should honor the prices on the menu we were given and (the manager? owner?) said he'd take 10% off the bill. The discount was appreciated but the bill still came to more than what it would have been under the "breakfast menu". I will not return and would not recommend this place.

We tried this place about a year ago, and will not go back. We were seated right away. They place was maybe half full. The menu has a huge selection, maybe too much, because it took forever to get our meals. It would have been much quicker, and the quality higher, had we just cooked the different meals at home ourselves. We drive by a fair amount, and there are always a few cars, but I have yet to see it full, or crowded. There are better choices in the area.

All you can eat pasta, homemade meatballs, breakfast specials, great prices, WJTL on the radio, I love this place! Service was fast, friendly, and funny. Atmosphere was bright, colorful, and the restaurant is very clean. What a great addition to E-Town! We needed this.

Prompt friendly service, good food and reasonably priced. We ate lunch there and had falafel and a luncheon salad. Both were very good and I will definitely go back for more falafel which is a little hard to find around here.

We stopped here for breakfast/lunch on our way home from visiting the area. This restaurant literally has everything on their menu. From breakfast served all day, to steaks, Italian specialties, a plethora of dessert options, and almost everything in between. When we went, it had only been open for about three days. However, all of the staff were well trained and provided efficient service. My only complaint is that it isn't closer to where I live, eastern West Virginia :/. Give them a try!

If you can't eat gluten but your craving breakfast and have no where else to go in Elizabethtown, you're going to wind up here and disappointed. For Ella's Egg Special, you get pancakes or French toast, eggs, bacon and sausage, and home fries for $8.75. But if you just want a side of home fries and bacon, it's only $2.75 cheaper. My poor review isn't just because I'm cheap, but because I know I can get a significantly better breakfast for $6.00. The food is not worth it. But like I said, if you're in Etown and you want breakfast, you're going to go there anyways because there are no other options on a Sunday, so just know what you're getting into.

Don't bother going here on a Sunday morning... the line goes out the door. I've been here a few times for breakfast- and it isn't anything special. Just your typical dinner food. The french toast isn't bad, but I would stay away from the bacon. Its either burnt or under cooked. Ella's has a family atmosphere, and some religious undertones. The place isn't sparkling clean- but it isn't dirty. I prefer driving a little more and going to the Mount Joy Diner.

We returned tonight. Very good waitress staff. Seems to have been some changes for the good. Nancy our waitress was very pleasant. Smiled. And food was like it should be. Very pleased

Perfect breakfast experience! Waitress was so welcoming, she asked me how I wanted my bacon? When was the last time someone asked you how you want your bacon? Usually you will get it the way they want you to have it. I asked for it chewy, or medium. The cook nailed it! I may have found a home for my weekend breakfast.

Today was not our first time at Ella's Place. We have had decent experiences in the past. Today we had good food, but poor service. However, when I calmly brought our issues to the attention of the owner, she was very gracious and deducted two meals from our bill. Her actions will make us repeat customers. I have to say, we usually have very good service and good food at Ella's Place. We have only been here for breakfast.

  • Kyle M.

I have been to Ella's place a few times previous, and I have always had a favorable and memorable experience. This morning however, was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in years. It was Mother's Day, and understandable that it would be a little busy. However, there were plenty of empty spaces in the parking lot, so we went in hopeful. Our lunch started off rough, as we wished our waitress a happy Mother's Day, and she responded by explaining how she hasn't seen her kids all day, that she got to work at 5:30 AM, and would be working until 8 PM. I felt as though this was incredibly unprofessional, and that it put a damper on our lunch. There were five us us in my party, and we ordered about 5 minutes after entering the door. I order a calamari appetizer, and a Gyro. About 5 minutes after I ordered, my calamari arrived, and I was appalled. The calamari was only $7, so I was not expecting a lot, but I have NEVER in my life seen an appetizer so small. At most there were only 4 actual pieces of calamari, and the rest (which was not much) were just sticks of breading. For comparison, I've gotten four times as much calamari at someplace like Chili's for $2 more. About 45 minutes after ordering, our food finally arrived. The quality was good, nothing spectacular, but nothing to complain about. I could tell my Gyro had been sitting under a heat lamp. One of the others in my party had ordered a coffee, and when it came out, the coffee mug had a smudge of lipstick around the rim, as well as other marks indicating it had not been cleaned well. The smudge was very noticeable, about the size of a nickel, so I do not understand how our waitress did not see it. We debated addressing the issue and requesting another mug, but she had already made it clear that she was not having a good day, and did not want to give her more reasons to complain. When it came time for the check, things only got worse. I had to face the reality of paying $7 for a sad excuse for calamari, and also noticed that our waitress had added gratuity to our bill. There were only 5 of us, and I have never known a restaurant to add gratuity to the bill of a party of less than 6. I felt as though our waitress added the tip because she had profiled us. We are all under the age of 25, and I assume she did not expect us to tip well. I was thoroughly insulted, as all of us generally tip upwards of 20%. Afterwards, we realized she probably would have received a larger tip if she hadn't added the gratuity to our bill (not that her waitressing deserved a tip at all). We are paying customers, just like any other family or couple that enters the establishment, and I would have appreciated being treated that way. While I have only been to Ella's a few times, 2 of my companions consider themselves regulars, attending at least once a month. The other 2 were from out of town, and Ella's left a bad taste in their mouth. After our Mother's Day experience, none of us plan on returning, and will be much happier to take the trip to the Mount Joy diner, where the service is always top notch.

4.5 with great service. Food was very good and came out just as we ordered (which can be difficult at times). Get the House Potatoes!! Waffles with AMAZING fresh whipped cream. Thank you Ella!!

We came here for their breakfast around 12pm and it wasn't extremely crowded for a saturday. We got our seats literally a minute for 7 people so we were happy with that. I ordered the garden omelet and my friend tried the veggie wraps and it was amazing. I like the veggie wraps more since it was more flavors than the garden omelet I got. The coffee I got tasted sour and I didn't like it at all. The service was okay, I wouldn't say it is the best since I asked for my refill on water and coffee. She was kind of slow on serving the table also. Overall it is okay restaurant in a small city.

Came here for the first time for a group event which offered a buffet. I sampled several dishes, including diner staples like a pasta bake and a pork-and-mushroom entree. The Mediterranean items -- stuffed grape leaves as appetizers, and baklava for dessert -- were first-rate. Also shared a side of Fries with a friend, and they were nicely-done. Waiters were attentive without hovering, and the owners were friendly as well. Subsequent visits have also featured good food (including a hearty Gyro sandwich with chopped cucumber and creamy tzatziki sauce) served quickly by attentive and friendly staff. Can't wait to go back yet again and try some of the other Greek dishes like Spanakopita and Tabbouleh. Their desserts look terrific, too. Prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere's always been friendly. Give 'em a try, and maybe I'll see you there.

Ambience: This restaurant was newly renovated a few years ago and now has a more modern, homey, and slightly rustic design. I am much more a fan of this new, welcoming diner than the old one. Food: The menu is expansive, as diner menus are. There are options for meat-lovers, vegetarians, and those who crave eggs/pancakes in the evening hours. I'm never disappointed with what I order. It's all very tasty. Make sure to ask for a sharp knife if ordering a steak or large slab of meat. Notes: Ella's Place was once named the Etown Diner, however ownership changed about two years ago. Bottom line: Ella's Place is a cheap, delicious place to eat in town. During the summer season, you can eat outside if you choose. Be careful during certain college event days/nights (orientation, homecoming weekend, thanksgiving, senior week, freshmen&upperclassmen move in days, etc)...the diner will be packed with hungry students, alumni, and families.

Service and dinner were awesome. Would definitely eat here again. I had the chicken cordon bleu and the wife had the french toast. I also had the shrimp bisque.everything came out hot and fast and tasted great. If the potato skins had been cooked longer and been crisper, woulda been a 5. Still...a nice dinner.

Driving by on Friday, I saw this place was busy. On Saturday, I went here for breakfast. I had their omelette infused with hash brown and it was a good portion. I don't know if I can say if it was good because I was really hungry before I entered. The have places to sit outside if you want to enjoy the fresh air. The prices of the food is decent. Come try this breakfast joint. I'm not sure if there are other places in the small city.

Went here twice, first time for lunch --- it was delicious, huge mouth watering juicy burger with fries. The staff was friendly and quick. The second time I came I came around dinner time, the waitstaff was still just as friendly and quick, but the food ingot was terrible. Ordered a half chicken with stuffing and mashed potatoes, the chicken was so dry, and I don't think it was white meat, when I asked for white meat. The stuffing was hard and cheery, nothing like Country meadows-- I love that place for their home cooked meals. I was dissatisfied with the turkey and pretty much the entire meal. The best part about the meal was the dessert, probably not homemade, but was delicious, I got the cheesecake. So yummy. Maybe this place is hit or miss, and depends on what time of day and part of the week you go, but I'll be trying it again. Overall it was ok.

Back in November 2013, when I first moved to Elizabethtown, I caught sight of this place and thought it might become my home "restaurant." Unfortunately, after three visits, I realized the food is borderline abysmal, and I have not returned in over two months. One especially cold night I went there for what I was hoping would be some homemade soup. Okay, I was expecting fall off the bone ham hock with white beans when I heard the soup was ham and bean. What I got was white beans interspersed with bits of what looked tiny cubed bits of Spam wannabee. Let me just say I HATE Spam, so to have something in my bowl that looked even worse than Spam was truly disappointing, but I ate it because I was really hungry. The baked potato that I ordered with the soup was also a loser; it was still hard in the middle. I was too tired to complain. I just wanted to go home and get warm, something my food barely was. During another visit I had the chicken cordon bleu. I got it based on a review I read here. My ccb was awful. It tasted like it had been microwaved at least ten minutes---it was rubbery and dry beyond belief. The waitress never came around to ask how it was, making me wondering if she already knew and didn't want to go through the hassle of listening to me complain about how lousy it was. I ate most of it anyway, simply because it was either eat or leave hungry, since the waitress seemed to have vanished. The owner/cashier/manager asked how things were. I told her the truth and she took 10% off the bill. I thought that she was kind, although I would have removed the entire entree from the bill personally. Based on her courteous and sincere demeanor I decided I would return to try breakfast. Breakfast was so-so. How does a kitchen mess up a two egg, potatoes, toast and meat breakfast? Well, I had asked for rye toast dry with butter on the side. I got wheat toast with margarine on it. And the eggs were cold. On top of that I had to sit five minutes with coffee but no cream. Why would a waitress come to a table during a busy shift with enough cream for only one cup of coffee?! An amateur par excellence, that's why. And that was the end of my relationship with Ella's----nice atmosphere but lousy food. It needs someone in the kitchen who really knows how to cook simple, tasty, homemade food.

A clean, comfortable place. Service and coffee both unobjectionable. Had a Create Your Own Omelette, which comes with home fries and toast and seemed to be reasonably priced. I asked for ham, cheese, mushrooms and onions. The food was notably un-greasy and pretty good, aside from the fact that the shrooms were canned. I was chagrined to discover a $1.00 up charge on my check and more so when told it was the cost for adding ingredients beyond meat and cheese. Fifty cents extra for maybe a tablespoon of chopped onions and a few CANNED mushrooms? This was not disclosed on the menu that I could see so be forewarned and make inquiries when ordering. Other than the bad taste left in my mouth by the monetary transaction it was a pretty decent spot for this area but I think I'll go past it in favor of Gus' next time.

Found this gem when my family was up to go to Dutch Wonderland for the day. Food was outstanding and the menu had some very interesting twists on normal dishes in it - I had the Hawaiian Panini, which had Chicken, Cheese, Strawberries, and Pineapple. Service was excellent - and included a balloon for our little one :). Will definitely return next trip to the amusement park.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
