John's Wildwood pizza has been around a long time while other pizza shops in Edinboro have come and gone. Best pizza in the area. Place your order by phone drive into town stand in line and wait patiently. It's worth the wait. Wings pizza calzones subs salads. Been ordering there for 27 years haven't gotten sick yet. Also, service is always efficient food is hot (even for the 15 minute drive home) and everyone is in a good mood. Even John! !

I've never used ranch dressing as much before moving to Edinboro. I never tried it on waffle fries. I never put it on pizza. Hell, I barely put it on salad. There is something unique and distinct about Johns that still has me thinking of chicken fingers and fries at 3am. Although my 3am's now are completely different than the college days, I recall the fondness of great company, late night movies and eating my fair share of ranch dressing. The freshman 15 is pure ranch dressing. I think I've devoured an entire 1 gallon tub of it from Spring 1996 to Summer 1997. If you've ever been or plan to be in the Edinboro area, this place must be on your list. Be prepared to suffer the antics of college students and drunken regulars. If you can manage that, then you've earned your I Survived Edinboro: Ranch Dressing Challenge Badge. Now on to the Hotel Bar!

This place is way overrated. They have the "name" and reputation but recently don't compare to others places in town (I.e Normans) the service stinks and they are not friendly. I wouldn't recommend this place, no matter what other people say.

I have tried their food multiple times and every time I have been disappointed. I think they cater to the college fantastically, especially with their delivery service, but I always seem to get sick after eating their food. I'm giving it two stars because I think the people are nice and they really do take their customers into consideration, but horrible food is horrible food.

As an Edinboro native, I had eaten John's pizza literally hundreds of times since the day they opened at their current location in 1987. It was never a surprise to me that people were willing to make long trips just to indulge in a quick bite from Edinboro's prized pizzeria. There was something about a slice of pizza that required both hands to guide it to my watering mouth, even if the slice was sagging due to tiny pools of grease collecting on top of the cheese. Unfortunately, it seems that those days are in the past for John's. Maybe I came back to visit on an off night, but the crust was thicker and more rigid than in the past...only a single hand was necessary to lift it as it held its firm triangular shape...bummer. The sauce seemed to be a bit less zesty and there was no grease to be seen. Maybe these changes were to accommodate a more health-conscious clientele and I guess I can't hold that against them, but the pizza was not the addictive masterpiece that I remembered. I get it, things change over time, but from many of the reviews, it sounds like others have noticed this too, causing them to question the hype surrounding John's. Don't get me wrong, had I never had their pizza a decade or two ago, I wouldn't grumble since it is still good pizza, but no longer quite as amazing. All the same, check them out, because they do still offer a pretty good pie!

My desire for John's is constant and sharp, and I do not hope for a world without Johns. In fact, I want my love of Johns to be inflicted on others. The most delicious pizza you'll ever have in your life is just fifteen minutes outside of Erie. The waffle fries are a rare delicacy. Chicken wings? You've come to the right place. Make sure you order them extra saucy to get the full delicious effect. I've been coming here since I was wee lil boy, and my parents were going there since they went to school in Edinboro in the 1980s. An unforgettable place. I hope that, even as John ages, he will be an excellent sensei to the up-incoming generation of John pizza-makers, teaching them his ways. I must say though, I miss the dirty graffiti and derelict look the interior of the building gave off. Also, they are open till 4 (at least when I went to school at Boro) - say what!?

Amazing for the fact of how late they are open. That's awesome when you have late night "study" sessions. However, if you want the freshest, most tasty version of their pizza, just order for pickup and eat it there.

Absolutely the best pizza hands down in the greater Erie area! They know what they are doing here! If you don't live close by get what they call a pre-bake pizza. They bake it half way you take it home and finish it off in your oven. Yummmm

Calzones are very delicious and well priced. This is our go to place for pizza and related.

Best pie in Edinboro. How on Earth do chains remain open with pie THIS good just blocks away? This has always baffled me. I cannot speak for anything but the pie however ... Enjoy your pizza.

Place is kindof a dive, but has the BEST pizza in town. Their wings are good, but not my first choice. Also, when the heat subs, they heat it with EVERYTHING on it...including lettuce and tomato. So if you don't like warm veggies, be sure to let them know you want it heated with just meat and cheese and you don't want your veggies warm. They are open LATE...and I mean like till 3-4am. Why aren't more places in Edinboro open this late? Especially in a college town? Even the McDonalds isn't open that late.

Chicken tenders and waffle fries was almost enough for 2. Tenders were good, not the best I've had, but good. Liked the waffle fries. Got ranch dressing, and honey mustard for the 2 dips. Both were fine, but I wish the honey mustard was homemade (didn't taste homemade to me). Got a slice of pepperoni pizza ($1.50), and I really liked it. This place was doing a huge take-out pizza business.

  • Jameson J.

It's thin Jersey boardwalk style pizza and some of the best you will ever have. All of the ingredients are fresh and hand-picked by John himself, who is often in the back tossing dough. Great, great, GREAT pizza - some of the best I've ever had - and a must have for anyone in the Erie or Edinboro area. The other finger foods are solid, the waffles fries with cheese are excellent, and the wings, while unspectacular, are great for what they are. The best part? They are open until 4 AM every night!

My craving for John's is epic and constant. When I eat thin crust pizza anywhere but NY, John's or the shore along the Mid-Atlantic my soul weeps with disappointment. Whenever I come "home" to Erie and don't stop in Edinboro for a gloriously grease-soggy slice my stomach simultaneously despairs and rejoices You see, when I attended the gloriously-mediocre University that sustains John's (or does John's sustain it?) I reveled in their chicken finger and fries basket -- don't you dare skimp on buying both ranch and honey mustard! I would order it at least fortnightly, and after consuming my salty fill I would know the game of chance that would follow... 80% of the time I would win outright and everything would pass through my digestive tract as food should. 20% of the times I would still win, but with some collateral damage. Within an hour, the chicken and fries would form an alliance bound together by honey, ranch seasoning and mustard seed husks and resolve to create a mass that would feel like a solid cinderblock in what used to be my stomach, but could now only be described as "occupied territory". For about an hour and a half they would wield the breading like hammers, chisels and shovels an would attempt to tunnel their way out, which would render me horizontal and motionless in my bed as to try to confuse them and their sense of direction in hopes that they would accidentally pass through my duodenum and be processed normally. Eventually, during those nights of rebellion I'd end up with my face hovering where my butt should be and passing the responsibility for the deep fried foul and tuberous nightshade on to one in a series of porcelain idol-seats. It was ALWAYS worth it.

Allow me to dispense some advice for ye ole college students of Edinboro University. 1 am. Hungry. What to do? Chicken Tenders, Ranch and Honey Mustard Dip, Waffle Fries. Repeat as needed. Added bonus.... morning leftovers. Now go learn!

I just don't get it, pizza is decent but was disappointed from the hype, sandwiches were really good and service was great for a college place

This is THE PLACE for eats in the 'Boro! Pizza, chicken, near the bars, and cheap prices - PERFECT! I'm surprised no students are raving about their hangovers being cured via chicken fingers and fries. I have yet to find a place that makes the same chicken fingers and fries OR the perfect honey mustard dipping sauce. I am sad I can't go here all the time anymore.

John's Wildwood isn't anything close to a NJ boardwalk pizza. It is the best pizza you will get in this area. BUT nothing compared to the real thing!

  • Tyler J.

And here goes my first Yelp review. John's Wildwood is a staple in the diet of many from Northwestern Pennsylvania. In my time spent as an undergraduate at Edinboro University, John's was a regular spot to sit and dine, or to order delivery from. I've traveled far and wide to find a pizza that compares, and perhaps it's just my Pennsylvania blood giving me a bias, but nothing... NOTHING is as good. Freshly made to order with quality ingredients, at an affordable price. Not to mention, almost every other thing I've had off of the menu was excellent as well. Try the Chicken Fingers and Fries with both ranch and honey mustard. If you're a vegetarian, a pound of fries will hit the spot. Subs are excellent - particularly the grilled portabella - (get it with extra provolone cheese). Wings are a must-try - I always order some variation of buffalo style, as well as an order of honey mustard. I live in California now, and I look forward to the day that I return home to feast on the glorious food that is John's.

Sorry to burst the bubble here but three stars is being generous. John's Wildwood Pizzeria has an awesome web site and a few people made this recommendation so I decided to make the 40 minute round trip from Millcreek to check this place out. Sadly, I won't be going back the food just isn't good enough to warrant that kind of drive. I did find the small business/college atmosphere super charming and I am sure when the bars close at 3AM this place is packed and the food tastes really good :) I found the pizza to be excessively greasy and my sub was all bread, hardly any meat. Though the bread was delicious for sure. The waffle fries were inedible they had so much seasoning and were waaay too salty. If I lived down the street or they delivered to me I am sure I'd give them a second try. Still searching for my favorite pizza in the Erie area.

The best pizza, wings, subs and fries that I've ever had -- period. I miss this place so much... Words cannot describe...

  • Michiko F.

Nothing wrong with the pizza and it's the place to go if you want cholesterol on a plate. Honestly, the only reason I dropped to three stars is because I dropped a pepperoni. This is the kind of place where the five second rule is reduced to the matrix rule, where you gotta catch that sucker in flight. I was deeply saddened by the loss and that grief is what caused me to act out on yelp.

  • PhiL H.

Johns is all around pretty good. Try the buffalo hot wings

  • Adrienne L.

I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. You will hear a lot of people saying this is the best place ever. I don't get it. It's pizza and typical finger foods to accompany it. It doesn't seem any better to me than going to the grocery store and cookin up chicken tenders. I guess I'm just not made for this place...

  • Beth B.

This place has the best turkey subs I have ever eaten with tons of turkey and melted cheese on very tasty bread. I wish they delivered to North Carolina. Their waffle fries and pizza aren't bad either. Don't use the bathroom though, it's really icky!
