Reasonable price for the atmosphere, especially compared with other Mexican food restaurants in the Wyoming Valley. My mother and stepfather eat here every week; their favorite items are the chimichangas, the chicken taco salad and the margaritas! My child ordered the cheese quesadilla and really enjoyed it. The salsa is very good, with no big onion chunks and a smooth flavor with a slight kick of heat. The tomatillo salsa is also tasty, but not hot, and it definitely should be not be served ice cold (I could tell it was kept in the fridge.) Having spent a lot of time in Mexico and nearly 10 years in the Southwest, I'm a Mexican food connoisseur. Maybe everything here isn't super fresh, but what do you want given the distance from the resources? I ordered the tamales, and I was impressed! You get three with your meal, and that is a good portion. The shredded chicken inside the tamales was tasty, and a dab or salsa with each bite gave it the heat I was looking for. I ate there 2 days ago, and I am going back tonight so my southwestern husband can get in on the action! My only qualm was the service. While it was courteous, it wasn't friendly. And I had to ask for something every time I could make eye contact with the server (i.e. refills on soda for my party, refill on chips, the side of tomatillo salsa, boxes, the check, etc.) It would be nice if we had been checked in on instead of having to ask for help so often. I don't enjoy feeling guilty for "bothering a server" to do their job. But that's not going to stop me from coming back. Really a wonderful place to go for a meal! The decor could use some more color, but I'm really coming back for the tasty food! The 2nd time was even better than the first! The salsa verde was so hot I went into labor that night lol I love love love this place, and I can't say enough about how tasty it is! Yay for authentic Mexican food up north! :)

A for effort. You know it's a bad start when they have to use "Authentic Mexican Food" on the logo... Food is ok. Nothing special. Chips and salsa was good, salsa tasted no different than a tomato can. But the decor is good... Makes me feel in downtown Mexico City... Exactly like that.

I wouldn't really say this is authentic by any means but it wasn't horrible. I got the street tacos and it was ok, not worth $8.95 though. Dad got the chimichanga and loved it, but the taco salad my mother got was Very bland no matter how much salsa she added. Our server was excellent so she definitely added a star to this review. Overall, not too bad, not the best.

Went here one night for dinner because I heard co workers raving about it. I had the chicken chimichangas. Very good and at a good price. Atmosphere and service was ok. Considering there's really only two Mexican restaurants in the valley, I'd prefer La Tolteca. I wish CKs had more of a menu selection.

I was home for a bit in Pennsylvania and my brothers were really talking this place up as a really good mexican food place. Coming from LA I was bound to be disappointed since the Mexican is SO good here. Anyway, it wasn't bad for the area, very fast food-ish, very fatty, little taste. I had the burrito and it was OK, bland tortilla, bland steak, basically it was all pretty bland, that was the main issue, I think it just needed more taste. My other complaint is that it was only outdoor seating, which isn't a bad thing but it was raining that day (surely this is actually my fault) but it was wet and cold and the food was bland so perhaps that added to the overall experience.

The food is delicious, the service is exceptional and the atmosphere is perfect. What else could you want? I've tried it all there (except fish tacos, I don't do fish). Ask for the green salsa with your tacos. It's made from jalapeno and is superb. If you're feeling like a challenge, try the diablo sauce. Made from habanero pepper's, it's not to be taken lightly. I will make you sweat but it tastes so good, especially on the wings. The bar inside is also pretty cozy. Great family restaurant.

Food is amazing, but I went there to go eat dinner on Sunday night and the lights were all out and not a car in the parking lot! Online they say they are open Monday - Sunday 11-9 and on the door of the restaurant it says the same thing, not to mention the sign on the door said open. I would like to know why they were closed. If you say your open and your actually closed that reflects very poorly on your business and is not professional. No reason they should have been closed!

The food is consistent, but the service is terrible. When we spoke with the manager/owner he stared at us blanky and said nothing. We'll go back, because it's easy and you know what to expect.

I've been here quite a few times and am never disappointed. There are some things I didn't like, food wise, such as the mini tacos but that's due to my own taste buds. The service is always good when I go; never perfect but still good. All in all, I personally think CK's is better than La Tolteca and other Spanish food places in the valley.

My wife and I love CK's! The food is always tasty, well prepared, and quite adequate for even the hungriest appetite. My favorite meals are the tosquitos(chicken), the tacos (beef), and of course I never go wrong ordering fajitas. Prices are very reasonable and the entire staff is great! This is a very good family owned and operated restaurant.

The service was friendly and attentive. The food was good and reasonably priced. I tried the fish tacos with the chipotle sauce, which is good and filling.

Every time I've gone here I've had horrible service. I've sat at a table and waited over 30 minutes just to get drink order. The food was average and pricey. Not worth your time or money.

When the chips are the best part of your meal, there is a lot left to be desired. We did take out and the long story short: It isn't fresh and I doubt anything is homemade. The enchilada sauces are canned, as are the re-fried beans (You know when they have a metallic taste). Nothing has any taste, including the rice, beans, sauce, salsa, etc. The guac isn't terrible in that it's better than Taco Bell's (but not by much). This area has tons of Mexican restaurants, and this is one to pass on. Honestly, I'd rather have El Rey, any day any time. The plus side is that it's food and it's edible - I actually have had worse, but not by much. If you really like sloppy joes, and want a sloppy joe taco, then this is the place to go! American Mexican, but not as good as La Tolteca or La Tonalteca, and def not authentic like Chicano's, Garibaldi's, or El Rey.

Liz is an awesome bartender and I am in love with her margaritas. (I am very fussy about my margaritas) Food is awesome. Always a treat:-)

Wasn't impressed. Been there three different occasions and won't make a fourth. Each time I ordered a different entree and found them bland, microwaved leftovers, and overpriced.

This is an amazing Mexican treat. I went here on a date and with a large group and everyone was always satisfied. The food is great, the service is great, and the booze is priced right. I highly recommend if you love Mexican food.

We have been "CK Fans" for take out for quite some time. Unfortunately , we went to the new cantina on a busy Saturday night. There was a total lack of focus with the entire restaurant. The man who seemed to be the person in charge, really didn't know what he was doing except for bringing out The take out food. The bartender was so overwhelmed with tasks that we saw someone leave the bar before they even got the bottle of beer that they ordered. Multiple patrons had to wait for their take out orders, and most disheartening was that our food was warm, not hot. NOTE TO Reader.. Don't go here during "peak" times, you will be disappointed, Stick with "take out" and order early, and hope that the place isn't too busy.

My daughter and I are big CK fans. We couldn't wait to try their new restaurant, adjacent to the take out joint. We were not disappointed. Really nice inside, with bar area and flat screens. Good service. The menu is slightly different, but all our favorites were there. Quality is the same, nice and fresh, and the same great prices. I didn't care for the salsa, but everything else was great.

My favorite place to go. The homemade salsa is fresh and the best I ever tasted. I have tried several dishes and was never disappointed. The portions are big and the drinks are great. The only negative thing I have to say is the last time I was there my daughters taco shells were falling apart due to the meat not being drained enough. In my opinion the food and service are better than the other Mexican restaurants in the area.

This is such a great place! Very authentic Mexican food. The only reason I don't rate it 5 stars is because I've only had limited things on the menu. I love, love their chimichanga and don't ever want to miss the opportunity to get it! I get it with the habenaro sauce which is nice and spicy. They have a kids friendly menu with tacos or hot dogs and soft serve for desert. I believe they're going to be expanding and get an indoor area. Don't miss out on this hidden treasure.

The food was ok just ok. The service was terrible. They forgot both my wife and I's rice and bean. Didn't bother to check until after we were done eating. Said they were sorry and did nothing. WE WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN.

Finally some Mexican in the Back Mountain! Fantastic tacos...especially the tilapia! Great take-out option if you are tired of pizza!!!

I was skeptical about this place, but the Mexican food is actually pretty good. I wouldn't call it "authentic," maybe authentic "tex-mex," but the food quality is good. The portions are very generous for the price. In other areas this place would probably be a 3 star joint, but its a 4 considering the complete jack of options in the Back Mountain.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
