I am from Maryland and own a second home in Confluence. Have known of Shepherd's Farm -and- their restaurant for over 15 years. . The general menu is homestyle comfort food, reasonably well prepared. Not exceptional but still well-prepared and good. . HOWEVER, besides the ice cream, the real draw is the LAMB SANDWICHES. It starts with a real lamb-roast that has been herb-rubbed and slow roasted in their oven. Then they carved slices from this to order and finish it on their grill/griddle. Served on a warm bun with your choice of b-b-q or horseradish sauces. (I like a little of both). This IS exceptional. Yum !

We stayed in Confluence for 3 nights and ate here twice. Both times we got the same thing: the roasted lamb sub. Try it. Trust me...this place specializes in lamb and it is so tender and flavorful. The horsey (mayo and horseradish) sauce and homemade bbq sauces are great as well. I'm gluten-free and asked for it without bread and it was no problem. Service can be a bit longer than average, but it was worth it.

my dad and mom eat here when in the area. this place is not easy to find and you would only want to eat here if in the area. really. most of the time they say its empty and during the winter months its closed. it sits oon a busy kind of road. by busy i mean cars fly by. The owners raise their own lamb and its the specialty of the house. menu is simple but pretty extensive for how small they are. your server just might be the person who rings you up at the end. they have a great view of the farming hillside which is to die for. average price is about $11. and the food really is great. They even offer a kids menu. This place is funny but well worth stopping for. You can even go for just ice cream which is also local as well. the parking is great and picnik tables are outside to eat at if you chose to do so. If you don't like meat...eat the lamb! too funny.

This is a nice little restaurant to stop by when traveling to or from Confluence. They have nice views of the surrounding area. I enjoyed the fiddle music in the restaurant. It's like Ireland (well, not quite). The menus are handwritten and they have a variety of sandwiches. I recommend the lamb, which is delicious and right from the farm across the road. The pulled pork was out--"all the old people here earlier ate it." (The waitress's words, not mine; she said they like it because it is soft on their teeth) Look out for the llama at the farm across the road! Fun Fact-- the llama is there to protect the sheep from wolves. He has a nasty kick! The place is closed for the winter. There are many signs for the place along the way.

On September 11, 2015 this place was closed for the "season". What season? Duck season or wabbit season? Someone wrote a review from a visit just one week before so we had no idea they would be closed. We were visiting from CT. Must be a PA thing. Very disappointed.

A must if you are in the area! Get the lamb sandwich and try the Greek gyro! So delicious! I would make the trip up there just for the sandwich. Friendly and down to earth staff. Stay awhile to see the colonial house and the old ruins! Very cool!

We go there every time we are in the area. Excellent lamb dishes and outstanding soft-serve ice cream. Other dishes are fine but lamb is the thing to get. The raise the sheep on the farm across the road. I will post a picture of the farm. Service can sometimes be a little slow but always friendly.

The best Ham and Cheese special sandwich I have ever had. I live near buy and have been eating this sandwich for 30 years. My job has me traveling in 5 states and have not found a match to this sandwich. You must try it.
