But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Ordered the 4 taco deal--2 chicken and 2 tripe tacos. The tripe was suprisingly good but the tacos weren't spectacular. The taco shell to meat ratio was terrible which made the taco very dry. Even with a lot of salsa verde, the very small taco was dry and lacked flavor. For $11, I could get a chipotle burrito and be more full than eating here. The decor had a homey vibe. I liked that. All in all, it was a disappointing experience. Overprice, super small portions, okay food. Would not want to come here again.

Delicious. We got take-out tonight and it was great. We had various tacos including carne asada, tongue, mushroom, shrimp. The chipotle shrimp taco was the Weekly Taco Feature (WTF). All of the tacos were enjoyable. My personal favorite was probably a toss up between the tongue (lengua) and the mushroom. The mushroom taco was the spiciest of the four I ate. I also had one of the two daily menu specials. Today it was a fantastic pork tamale with a red mole. The tamale was a nice surprise and the mole was excellent. I saw some lunch specials which included a torta (sandwich) that wasn't offered at dinner tonight. I'll definitely be back looking for different specials and to get more from the regular menu.

I cannot reiterate enough times how great it is to have this place in Carlisle. They have great authentic street-style tacos with a nice variety of options, including the standard chicken, beef and chorizo, as well as some more interesting, and delicious, specials. Their agua frecas are also a great complement to any meal. All in all, a great addition to Carlisle, and one of the best affordable lunch options in town with their multiple combo options at prices under $10. Any of the reviews saying that this isn't authentic are pretty far off the mark. This is especially the case with the reviews advocating for Tres Hermanos. (Are these reviewers being paid by Tres Hermanos?) One can just look at the pictures of menu items from Tres Hermanos and tell that there is nothing remotely authentic about it.

Do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant. If you want authentic Mexican food, head to Tres Hermanos on South Cameron Street in Harrisburg. The food at Taqueria Laurita was sub par at best. We went here on a Friday night for dinner. For as packed as it was, I thought the food would have been better. I was hungry when we placed our order and I was hungry and disappointed when we left. The Atmosphere: The restaurant is small. Maybe 10 tables or less. The walls are painted bright blue and there is very little decor. Patrons order at a counter located at the back of the restaurant. The menu is printed on a brightly colored tri-folded piece of paper. There is a cooler off to the right filled with an array of Mexican sodas and bottled water. The Food: I ordered a trio of tacos, empanadas Del Dia and a bottle of Apple Soda. The tacos were: Pollo y Pepitas (Chicken with salsa verde and pumpkin seeds), Al Pastor (Pork with pineapple and ancho chiles) and Chorizo y Papas (Mexican sausage and potato). Both the chicken and Chorizo were gristly. The empanadas were tastier than the tacos. But that's not saying much. The word bland comes to mind when describing the food here. The salsa/sauces lacked flavor and heat. It was very watered down and not appetizing at all. The woman working behind the counter said the salsa was spicy. It was not. Overall experience: The staff was pleasant and the service was fast. But if the food stays the same, I wouldn't go back.

I went out to Laurita's for dinner about a year ago and was not impressed at all. As a student in Carlisle, I was hoping for a delicious and reasonably priced dinner option. Laurita's didn't turn out to be any of those things. The 4 taco plate was too expensive, and the serving of filling was too small. Today, however, I went for lunch with a friend. We noticed that there were many more appetizer options, the price of the tacos had gone down, and there were a few more menu options available. There are also some cool combo platter options. The homemade drinks were great too. We were pleasantly surprised with how delicious the food was, and how full and satisfied we left! My biggest complaint of Laurita's is how wasteful the dishes are. Everything is thrown away. The restaurant is a block away from one of the country's most environmentally responsible schools, and they definitely have some things to learn.

The only thing authentic about the Taqueria Laurita is the portion size. As a So Cal native and veteran of more taquerias than I can count, this place doesn't earn the name. The good: fresh soft corn tortillas The rest: the salsa was almost a great start until I realized it's no different than the Tomatillo at Moe's. What place can call itself a taqueria without carne asada tacos being a staple? This is the main dish at most taquerias. Taquerias shouldn't have tacos that cost $2.50, when it's the size of your palm, The flavor was severely lacking. Cilantro and onion should pop when mixed with the corn tortilla and meat choice, the only flavor saver was the regular salsa they serve. Overall, the biggest waste of money in town for a meal. If you aren't a taqueria regular like I am maybe you will like it, if you are you need to go to Harrisburg. Tres Hermanos has the best AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food in the area. For what you spend at Taqueria Laurita you can get gas money and a great meal up there. Very disappointed overall, If you couldn't tell.

I was in town visiting family and came here for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to learn they had horchata, which was really good. I shared a plate of four different tacos to sample the variety and then had two more. The winners for me were the Al Pastor (pork) and the special of the day fish taco. We also had the chorizo and chicken taco. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and I don't think you can do much better outside of Mexico. Oh, we also had the beef tamale in a mole sauce. Outstanding.

Portions are small and options are limited, but what I had was delicious. I ordered a taco Pastor and was shocked at how small it was. It was, however delicious. I enjoy eating my tacos on soft flour corn tortillas with a squeeze of lime. I also ordered a pork tamal with mole sauce that was perfect. The sauce had the smoky, rich flavor it should and the pork was tender and moist. It was served in a corn husk and the corn based tamale shell was one of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere is quaint. I felt as though I were in Mexico and not some American version of it. I also appreciate the way these owners work at making all their dining establishments authentic. Many Mexican beverages offered, including coke from Mexico. When I go there again, I will definitely consider the special (the tamal was a special) and I'd like to try the flan. You can byob, if you'd like to. They have a Clamato concoction that they recommend with beer. I can't wait to go back. I'll take some photos next time.

Did stop by for lunch .Service I had was good .Yes the Toco's are small but I am usually a big eater so I expect more .They do have late hours but there just trying to fill a void for late night eater's .They are now open for lunch . Byb was plus .

Awesome, authentic, affordable and appetizing. Seriously knocked my socks off. Forced myself to eat more because it was so good. Fish taco was the WTF taco of the day. The spicy mushroom .... Aye aye aye. So good! So good we went back and got a quesadilla filled with mushrooms and goopy Mexican cheese. Guacamole is a must side to throw on anything or eat by itself. Must try!

Bland food and small portions. Got a variety of four tacos and none satisfied me. Quesadillas are also the same small size, although you get two of them. Tortilla chips are good, although that seems hard to mess up.

To be completely honest, I cannot remember having a worse meal in my entire life. I am not one to write reviews, but I feel I obligated to make people aware of how absolutely terrible this place is. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, braised ox-tail taco (special of the week), and the al pastor taco. The quesadilla was burnt and only had enough cheese to keep the two tortillas together, the chicken was non-existent. The ox-tail was literally charred, my guess is that it had literally been sitting on the flat top since the special started on Monday, I was there on a Friday. The al pastor was mediocre at best, compared to how downright awful the other two items were it seemed manageable. I would like to think that maybe I just had a bad experience, but after reading the reviews this seems to be their common practice. I just wish that I had read the reviews before stepping foot into this establishment. Do yourself a favor and take the advice of a these reviews and STAY AWAY.

Loved this place! I've lived in both Mexico and NYC and this is authentic. Anyone giving this less than 5 stars probably hasn't had authentic Mexican food before! The prices are also good - 4 tacos for $9.95 is definitely the most reasonable lunch price in town. Will definitely be going back!!

Went on a Thursday night when Issei had a 20 minute wait (too long for us to get to the movie.) Coming from Los Angeles, and Arizona before that, I was very excited by the promise of an authentic taco stand in the middle of Carlisle; I go to Tania's on the road to Gettysburg regularly,and hoped for that kind of place nearby. I don't even remember what the name of my dish was at Laurita, but it was on a hard flat taco, had some meat and a little queso and radishes stuck on top, and was greasy, cold, and impossible to eat on a styrofoam plate with plastic knife and fork. For $10 (including Jarritos), expensive and disappointing.

Coming from California we were so excited for tacos in carlisle! And they were inexpensive which was even better. However they were super bland and smaller than my palm. Spend 10$ and get 4 tacos that would equate to two at any other Mexican restaurant. We expected more and can only hope things will change!!!! If it gets better we would go every day!!!

When having mexican food I usually expect to be fairly full for $10. Here the portion sizes were so small that after 4 tacos each we were still hungry. We each had four different tacos and all were lacking in flavor and were dry. I thought the most edible one was the mushroom taco. I liked the atmosphere of the place, it felt cozy, but we won't be back unless the food improves.
