Very limited wine selection, but what they have is good. Awesome food and great friendly service.

Had the Poutin Fries to start which were the best I have ever had. .with a rich brown gravy with fresh curds......when moved on to the Debris Sandwich which was equally good. ....with fresh cole slaw which i am truly picky about. .....loved it. ... I would come back.

Stopped on our way across I-80 and glad we did. Ruben was top notch and the chicken wrap was great. And don't forget to put malt vinegar on your fries like you're supposed to.

We arrived hungry and left totally stuffed and happy. Homemade dishes that is close to home cooked. Megan our server was wonderful. She was on top of the water and made sure we were satisfied with everything. I ordered the monthly special: hot roast beef sandwich smothered with gravy along with smashed potatoes. Husband ordered the pub favorite: mashed potatoes and homemade meatloaf with squash on the side. Both were delicious. The atmosphere is a nice upscale pub.

The food was delicious. The beer selection is well curated and quirky. A nice place to eat and have a beer on the patio.

Food was good. The French fries were seasoned with a mixture of seasoning not plain salt and they were fresh cut. My husband had the Rubin the sauerkraut seamed to be home made it was great. I had a chicken sandwich with Gouda cheese it was good chicken was a little dry but overall good.

This is my second time eating here, and since I'm from Arizona, it set an impression as I remembered it from a year ago. The first time, I had chicken pot pie, and thus time I had meatloaf. Both meals are more than ample in portion, and quite tasty. The gravy was good and I liked the smashed potatoes. Not a five star place imho, but a good solid four stars, because I don't think I could ever be disappointed coming back here. This is the structure that was formally a barbershop that launched The Mills Brothers.

Menu was pretty straightforward and the beer selection is decent given that's it's small. Food was decent but seemed to be simplistic

My boyfriend and I stopped here by chance for dinner near the end of our road trip from Milwaukee to NYC. We couldn't have been luckier to find Governor's Pub. The service was friendly and attentive. The menu was extensive and eclectic for pub fare. We had trouble choosing what we wanted, there were so many tasty sounding dishes! We ended up sharing soup, salad, and a sandwich. Everything was cooked perfectly and portions were big. Veggies in the salad were fresh and crisp. Fries were delectably seasoned. The ambiance is casual and inviting.

A great place for lunch. Good beer and sandwiches. Outdoor seating. The Haddock fish sandwich is fantastic.

Ï've eaten here several times. Usually I think it's a bit over priced. Not true this time. The special salmon burger eas excellent and well worth the price. If you come in the evening, you can hear local musical griups. An excellent evening out with great music and great conversation with us locals. Try it out.

Found this place on a random lunch stop during a long drive from NYC to Cleveland, which I actually learned was very fitting during my lunch at the pub. I tried the Reuben since the menu said that it was the house specialty, and it was juicy, not too fatty, and quite good. The fries were even better and went well with vinegar, just like I like it. My wife had the turkey Reuben, which she said was just average and was deli turkey instead of sliced turkey like she had expected. The beer selection was good, especially the bottles. I had a tasty Troeg IPA on tap and noticed some Unibroue's and Dogfish in bottles. The best part, really, was just the atmosphere. Loved the Bellafonte trivia at the table while we waited for our food and learned a lot about the area in our brief wait. Most interesting, I did not know that Bellefonte is right in the middle of PA and also right in the middle of a straight line between NYC and Cleveland, so it was a natural fit as a stopping point on the airmail route created as the US took air delivery to the skies. Now I know that, and so do you!

Very good home style cooking and a great little combo playing...a happy place to be. Great selection and variety of beer, cool college town type atmosphere but with a more 30-40s crowd.

Our waitress was really nice and attentive! Veggie burger was good, fries had a lot of seasoning. Beer could have been colder (bottle), but I think the place was a cool spot to stop and have a bite. We were in and out in under 35 minutes.

This place is trying hard to serve innovative food and they should get credit for that. I really wasn't feeling my California veggie burger- great concept that just didn't quite hit the mark. It was tempeh(?) based, with corn and carrots- homemade, and served with feta and a lemon mayo. Creative and a nice try, but something was off about the burger. The texture wasn't great (but that's hard to nail on a veggie burger), but it was more the seasoning that was off. It was heavily dominated by an herb I couldn't quite identify- savory maybe. The steamed veggies I requested were good. Hubby's Reuben, the house specialty, left him less than thrilled. The meat, he said, was very fatty, with a slimy texture. Admittedly, he's from the New York area, but he has found other Reubens in this area that he does like, so he's not just being a Reuben snob. The atmosphere of the space is really nice, chill and homey. Service was friendly and prompt. Hubby is over it after one visit because our meals really did disappoint. I might still give this place another shot, just because: 1. They are trying to do something beyond run-of-the-mill, 2. The atmosphere is so comfy, I did really like being there. 90's alternative goes a long way with me.

I have been to the Governors' Pub several times for lunch -- always on the weekend. It's a quiet, chill pub that has a moderately extensive food and beer menu. I've particularly enjoyed the Reuben sandwich, Kielbasa sandwich, and poutine (which they had on special once a while back). Prices are reasonable, and service is good to excellent. Highly recommended.

Great food. They actually serve poutine!! Turns out left my credit card there and called two days later. They'd saved it and it was ready when we got back there. Thanks, Joe!!!

Worth a few miles off I-80 for lunch. We had a beautifully rare bison burger with a fine sauce, and a truly inventive and delicious seared ahi tuna BLT plus wonderful, crisp herbed fries. Very reasonable prices for the quality. Charming setting in the cozy pub. Cheerful, informative and prompt service. Our only regret was that we could not immediately eat another lunch, as there were many menu items we were longing to try. This will now be one of our can't-miss stops when traversing PA.

My fiance' and I went to dinner on Valentine's day and was seated right away. The waitress was very attentive and service was good. We ate the spinach and artichoke appetizer which was good. I ordered the bangers and mash. It came with two types of sausage. My wife enjoyed her meal.

We came here on a late Saturday afternoon following a recommendation from personnel at the Bellefonte visitor's office. We ordered sandwiches, which were not only delicious, but extremely filling as well. We also recommend the hearty ham/bean soup and the onion soup. More importantly, the customer service received here was excellent and on point. Nice restrooms too! Highly recommended to all.

We ended up here for Valentine's Day. We were early so were given the lunch menu, which had precious little for vegetarians. How many portabella mushroom sandwiches can you eat? It was ok, nothing to write home about. I'd give the fries an A, the mushroom sandwich a C, and the spinach artichoke dip a B for good effort. The yuengling lager was extra tasty!

Last night (Friday), we had 2 hungry kids and wanted to go out for dinner. Pretty much everything in State College was mobbed, so we drove to Bellefonte. We were seated immediately, and our server was super attentive and helpful. Our orders were served in a very timely fashion (and she did rush the kids' meals for us--she knew they were hungry!) I had the shepherd's pie, which was delicious. A tiny bit greasy, but worth ignoring because the taste was excellent. Tiny pearl onions, peas and carrots, beef, topped with mashed potatoes and a sprinkle of cheddar. Very tasty. My husband had a stacker sandwich on marble rye that had fries in it, and alongside. He loved it. I stole a few fries--very good! My girls loved their chicken strips and applesauce (but really--that one's a no brainer. I'm just happy that part came quickly!) We both had good beers, and a very good experience. Bonus: changing tables in both restrooms, and they were clean and nice. Is this the most amazing culinary experience I've ever had? No, but it sure hit the spot, and the service was wonderful. We will definitely return!
