Great old fashion bakery with something for everyone. Large selection of pastries, cookies and more. Reminds me of favorite bakeries from my childhood. Great service and prices are right! Everything I tasted was very fresh and made just right.

They did an AMAZING job with a custom cake for a 70th birthday party for my dad.... We asked for a forest/hunting scene with trees, river with fish and bears and it turned out way better than we'd imagined!!! All for a super reasonable price! Love this place!

My initial impression was Great customer service and their Danishes are very very good. Their strawberry cheese cup was delicious and their cupcakes though cheap icing is one of the most moist cakes ive ever tasted. I went back again and just didn't think everything was great. Good, yes. Great, no. Solid 4

Had my first significant experience with Kretchmar's Bakery a couple weeks ago when my over-the-top mother ordered 5 cakes for my bridal shower. My 2 cents on what was ordered: * Red Velvet Cake: One of my 2 favorite kinds of cake in general, and Kretchmar's version of red velvet was nice and dense. If I had to be critical, I'd say the icing could have been more cream cheese-y for my taste. * Carrot Cake Torte: My other favorite kind of cake. Dense and gluttonous, Kretchmar's carrot cake did me very proud. This cake was my favorite of the 5. * Peanut Butter Torte: This torte seemed to be the most loved by my shower guests. I, on the other hand, wasn't crazy about it, though I think all the desserts I tried before I had this one may have ruined my peanut butter torte experience. * Chocolate Mousse Torte: Probably my least favorite, but, in this torte's defense, I'm not big on mousse at all. * Raspberry Almond Torte: Loved this one, which was a pleasant surprise. My fiancé and I agreed that the really sugary icing was to die for. I should note that apparently Kretchmar's typically doesn't decorate their tortes, but they made a very appreciated exception for my mom. The employees were also extremely nice when we picked up the cakes and insisted on helping us carry the desserts to my mom's vehicle parked on the street out front. Photos uploaded for your salivating pleasure! There's a reason President Obama stopped at Kretchmar's during his recent trip to town.

Locally owned, quality ingredients, many options and awesome prices. 'Nuff said-however I will say more. I am always greeted in a friendly manner when I walk in, no matter if its 5 minutes after they open or 5 minutes before they close. The products they offer are made with quality ingredients and you can't beat the prices- they even offer a cash discount. And if you are on facebook you can see Hank's deals, which are often items for the week at 50% off while supplies last. We order our birthday an d holiday cakes from here, as well as cookies and the occasional doughnut item. My number 1 fav is the spinach and feta croissant. Support Local! Go here!

Certainly the least known ... But one of the best old school bakeries in the us

Great bakery. Seems to have a cult following. The cakes are some of the best I have ever had. Just stopped by for some pastries - Claws are wonderful, doughnuts and cookies. Was at a party and wedding the last couple of weeks and the cookies were from K's of course. The cakes are so good and not dry like some grocery stores and the icing is just perfect. Definite worth stopping in and take something home or to work.

We were antiquing and my sister yells BAKERY! Immediately transported back to a bakery in central Ohio of my youth, we stocked up on provisions for the drive. Cookies, cake, cannolli. OMG. there was nothing that wasn't good. Love small businesses and this is an example why!

This bakery is so good. Best cannoli ever had

Eh. I suppose their stuff is pretty good. They have quite the reputation around Beaver County...but the truth is they are over priced and some of their products are cheaply made or stale. Regardless..they do a good job. You can't ask for anything else from a local bakery, really.

I have never found a bakery where EVERYTHING is absolutely amazing. From cookies to cake to bread nothing is ever mediocre. In fact we have all our party cakes from Kretchmars and our family cant stop raving. There is just no place else to go.

i cannot look at this place when i drive by its really good and prices are medium - expensive. its more of a high end bakery in an affluent area so prices are higher than pittsburgh.

This is an amazing old-school bakery with a small display area in the front and a huge baking area in the back. I'll admit I've been coming here since my Junior High years began in 1977. It has stood the test of time and continues to satisfy. Highly recommended. Enjoy!

Kretchmars has the best birthday cakes, all these years later and 1000's of miles away and I am still trying to find a bakery with cakes as awesome as theirs!

We came to Beaver for my BFF's bridal shower, and Kretchmar's was at the top of the list of must-see's. Being from a completely different (ie: expensive/unaffordable) part of the country, I was uncontrollably excited to find out that you can get a dozen cookies for a completely reasonable price...UNDER $6!!!!!! Yes, that's right- 4 delicious mini Lady Locks (Lady Fingers), 4 Raisin-filled Danish, and 4 Raspberry-filled danish all for under $6. AND a discount for paying cash. It was incredible, amazing, everything I could have ever possibly dreamed of!! Ok, maybe that was a bit dramatic, but this bakery should for sure be a must-see on any trip to Beaver. They also have a variety of breakfast sandwiches, Croissants, donuts, danish, cookies, breads, rolls, scones, coffee, cakes, tortes, pies, tarts, and seasonal treats!

Seriously the best baked goods I've ever had! I grew up on their decorated sugar cookies and their cakes are amazing. Also, the staff is super friendly which is always a plus.

Kretchmar's is located on the main street of Beaver toward the court house. I find that it is always full. I've had an anniversary cake from there which was good. And their bakery goods are fine too. Some people live and breathe for Kretchmar's but I can take it or leave it. I will say that the staff is very friendly and the prices are excellent.

Jesus, this place has quite a cult! All I had to do was mention that I had never been here before. A hush fell over the capacity crowd. "Kid, you are in for a treat. This is the best bakery around," an elder said to me. I thought I was being prepared for a blood sacrifice. Employees and customers alike fell all over themselves to deliver my soul unto Kretchmar's. Facts are facts though, and fact is, Kretchmar's is pretty hunky-dory as far as bakeries go. Let's see, what all did I walk out of there with... 4 Red Velvet Cake Donuts-These came complete with a cream cheese icing that made the donut. The cake donut itself was crunchy on the outside. I don't prefer cake donuts, but these were solidly appetizing, and they were half-off! 3 Chocolate Drop Cookies-Not bad, not bad. They were teeny-tiny little bites of chocodelight. 1 Gourmet Chocolate Chunk Cookie-One mega-cookie was more than enough for me and Kay to split. It was a very good cookie, but wasn't as soft and gooey as I like. Personal preferences aside, this was monstrous and more than pleasing to the sweet tooth. 1 Gourmet Chocolate Madness- Likely the most fearsome looking cookie I've ever beheld. If the Raiders or Norwegian black metalists Dimmu Borgir endorsed a cookie, it would be this chocolate beast. It is studded with walnuts, making all the scarier. Hell, I had impressions in my fingers from the thing. Taste-wise, it was about as good as the Chocolate Chunk. Kay couldn't finish her half. 2 Brownies-These looked like they could have been served in a Beverly Hills boutique being that they were so ornate. Each brownie had some sort of chocolate candy stuck to the top of it, as if a designer put her own brand on it. They were pretty good 'n fudgy 'n all but were a little small. 2 Chocolate Petitfours-I'm not the biggest petitfour fan, but these made me a believer. Rich icing, moist cake...oh yesss... 1 Napoleon-I split this with Kay also. Normally I do not go nutters o'er these. They are good, but the ones I have had before were just a little difficult to eat, that puff pastry being indestructible to any utensil other than a steak knife. You can pick them up and just chomp into them, but then the filling shoots out from all sides. This results in disaster. Kretchmar's version uses some rectangular puff pastry with whipped cream and chocolate sauce inside. The trick is to just take it apart and eat each half like many do Oreo cookies. The whipped cream was amazing and cloud-like. The choco sauce almost tasted like a ganache. I have been told that you can't judge a bakery until you try their cakes, which I may do at some point, but based on what I partook in, Kretchmar's is worthy of their hype. Hey, they beat any of Pittsburgh's Dozen satellites like they stole somethin'.

Absurdly good. My dad works in the South Hills, and after bringing a Kretchmar's cake to work for a friend, the boss actually started ordering there for every b-day in the office!

I can't believe I forgot to write a review about Kretchmar's. They frickin' rule along with Oram's. Nothing you get from here from donuts and cookies to cakes and bread will disappoint you!

For the many years that we've been returning to Beaver to visit my in-laws this bakery is a mandatory stop - OK, well my father in law gets up at 5:00 am, goes to the gym and then brings us fresh baked good from Kretchmars! Two flagship pastries here that you have to try - the Maple Nut Danish and the Long Johns. If you don't get to the bakery before 7:00 am you won't get these delightful treats which says a lot about them. You can however the day before order up 6, 12, 24 - whatever quantity you want so that you can be assured that they will be there! This is a particularly troublesome time of the year because all of us that have moved out of the area that come back to visit rain down on them and clean their shelves!! Kretchmar's other not to miss pastries include their cakes. I particularly love the butter cream icing. You won't find a better cake at the prices that they offer them at in this area. Their cookies are wonderful as well. The bakery is a walk back in time as is most of Beaver. Think Mayberry RFD! A quaint charming town complete with German Bakery - Kretchmar's! I should also point out that recently a big box coffee shop opened on 3rd Street one block (perhaps two) from Kretchmars. Starbucks in my opinion is a welcome neighbor as Beaver never really had a good coffee shop. When the weather is nice the new tradition is to pop into Kretchmar's get a bag of pastries and then head to Starbucks for a cup o joe to wash them down - sit at one of the tables on the sidewalk out front and take in a slower paced hamlet where people say hello and stop to talk. After all of that go ride your bicycle 50 miles - you'll have to!! :-)

I can always count on nothing but the best from kretchmar's. It can be cakes or cookies to the outstanding tortes they offer. A must to try. You will definitely go back.

Fabulous bakery! Stopped finally, for the first time today (I know what the heck were we waiting for?!). Small but quaint, great little place right on the main Street in Beaver. Friendly, helpful staff. And the prices, holy cow, so cheap and worth every penny of the $7.50 we spent. They are practically giving the stuff away. I got the gigantic chocolate chunk cookie. It was the perfect combo of crunchy and chewy. And boat loads of chocolate but not overly so (if that makes any sense?). I got an iced cookie as well. Best one I have ever had! It was fresh and sweet and so good! I got the brownie and it was iced just right with the perfect number of nuts inside. The hubby got a cinnamon stick and nut claw raving about both. I have to say I have been missing out! They do it right here! That's for sure! What a wonderful gem! We will certainly visit again. It was worth the drive!
