ALWAYS friendly. ALWAYS fresh. Best neighborhood deli in the whole area. Spinach Feta Omelette rocks!

Small little neighborhood breakfast hole in the wall. Polite staff, with interesting kosher breakfast eats.

Ever wanted to eat eggs scrambled with bologna? (No? That's just me?) Well, you can do it at Syb's. If you're looking for something a little more traditional for breakfast, try their Tex-Mex eggs or their veggie omelet. Bonus: All these meals come with a bagel ON THE SIDE. With cream cheese! Other things you can do at Syb's: - Eat the best Reuben in Allentown. (They'll make it on a bagel, if you want one for breakfast.) - Drink coffee out of kitschy, mismatched mugs. Lots of coffee. They really keep it flowing. - Take in all the bric-a-brac on the walls. Things you can't do at Syb's: - Eat bacon. No pork products. But really, when (beef) bologna is available, what more do you need? This is a great place for a leisurely weekend breakfast or lunch with friends, or a quick weekday breakfast alone with a newspaper or good book. They'll also make you a sandwich to go, if you call ahead.

Syb's! Ain't nothin' like it. There isn't a whole lot of variety on the menu, but that to me is the sign of a good place - instead of doing 200 things okay, they do ten things very well. The challah french toast is unspeakably delicious, and their omelettes are quite good as well. The best part is the eccentric decor (your coffee will be served in one of the mugs that seem to be part of the owner's lifelong collection) and the friendly, sweet waitstaff. Only downside is the size of the place. It's a tossup whether or not you'll be able to eat there, because if more than 3 other people got there before you, there won't be room. They'll make their best attempt to wedge you between the dead fish staring at you from the deli window and the draft coming from the door, though. No offense, Syb's. I love you forever.

If you're hungry for breakfast and you're in Allentown (or, heck, in Bethlehem or Easton), stop at Syb's. No, Tom S., they don't serve pork products because it's a Jewish deli, so you'll have to satisfy your scrapple cravings elsewhere. And, yes, it does have a slightly fishy fragrance (like all great Jewish delis do), but that's because that's exactly what you should order. My go-to: 3-egg omelet with a side of kippered salmon (a cured salmon that's a little less oily than lox). Back-up: A corned beef sandwich on a toasted sesame bagel with brown mustard, served with a pickle. If you're starving, a side of potatoes will do. You'll just have to ask for the Frank's RedHot. The servers are lovely and liberal with the coffee pot. Come a couple times and they'll learn your name. I've yet to leave this place without that warm, fuzzy feeling of helping out a local business. Or maybe that's just the effects of that third cup of coffee.

This is my favorite place to eat in Allentown. Always a warm friendly atmosphere and great coffee. Eggs, home-fries (I order them with onions - yum!), real rye toast, incredible selection of salads, vegetarian chili and always a great selection of cakes and sweets (the chocolate peanut butter pie is a particular favorite). I love Syb's!

Fast service and good prices; although the waitresses were very pleasant as was the owner, the inability to remember requests (such as, bringing hot sauce to the table) takes it down a star. Would like to come back to try breakfast, got there after 12 and had to order lunch. The reuben sandwich was succulent and not overly greasy. The falafel pita was ok, but a little messy to eat. Outdoor seating available.

This is one of those little local places that seems like it's been around forever and has a ton of character. Plus, the food is good! I really enjoyed my chicken salad sandwich and look forward to trying their breakfast. They have a lot of interesting deli/cafe choices and the staff are nice and down-to-earth. We ate outside and they offered to bring a bowl of water to our dog. Nice!

My favorite breakfast place. I love their bagels and thick, fluffy omelettes, both for under $5. Their coffee is the best in town, in my opinion. Sometimes I go with a friend just for a coffee and some conversation. It is a Jewish deli so there aren't any pork products as far as I can tell. Syb's has a really great neighborhood feel. I'm no expert on their brunch foods, but the quiche I had once was really good too. The challah french toast is delicious. They have a nice selection of unusual sodas and juices too. The owner and waitstaff are always friendly and upbeat and would love to get to know you. The only downsides are that it can get crowded on weekends, so you have to figure out the right time to come, and that the menu is not very big or varied so you might get a little bored after a while. Overall, though, I can say I love this place so much that when I forget they're closed on Mondays and walk over, my mood is ruined for the rest of the day.

I went there on my birthday. When I tried the whitefish and the challah French toast. I was In heaven. It was some good food that I missed from Brooklyn. Want to go back to try the pastrami.

Super friendly neighborhood eatery with excellent, friendly service, which is a real rarity in this area. We always go for breakfast, and are always pleased. Great smoked fish, pastrami and eggs, bagels, etc. Good selection of natural sodas. What can I say? I'm a sucker for Jewish deli food, and theirs does not disappoint. It's true what a previous reviewer said, the waitress did remember our names after 2 or 3 visits.

Only had the lox and bagel but it was great. Hard to find that type of food in this area. Very friendly service and nice atmosphere.

I really wanted to like this neighborhood cafe more than I did. I was there for breakfast, which is what most frequent the restaurant for. It was very cute - a homey sort of feel to it. There were a lot of younger people there - mostly younger professors from nearby Muhlenberg College. I ordered scrambled eggs with toast. Everything was sufficient, and the service friendly, but nothing to write home about. If you have a friend in the area, meet them there, otherwise it's not worth the drive across town for.

Syb's is a cute little place. Friendly staff. Retro vibe. Clientele that looks like they've been going there forever. I really wanted to like it, but the two things I ordered were pretty bad. Judging from the number of smiley faces in the restaurant, I have a feeling I didn't order the right thing but you get lots of smiley faces in Mickey D's too so... Whatever you do, don't order the Black Bean Chili. Unless you like it really sour. So sour it makes your hair stand and eats the enamel of your teeth all away. I'm pretty sure the chili wasn't bad/decomposing cause all of the beans were firm and whole. I have a feeling the cook -- in his/her haste -- or some disgruntled Syb's employee poured a whole gallon of pickle juice into the pot. I went online and checked up recipes for black bean chili and some called for vinegar but just a tablespoon. The spinach quiche probably would've tasted pretty good two weeks earlier when it was first baked. It looked good in the window, but when I bit into the crust all I could taste was rancid oil. Bleaugh. Unfortunately, I had done take-out, so I couldn't send the food back. Instead, I sat in my apartment, trying to keep the food down. I ended up throwing away the soup. I probably would've been better off using it to polish the brass pots in my house.

Very small...crowded with tables shoved into every nook and cranny. A quaint place. Food is okay, but seemed average.

My family was in for a visit from D.C. and NYC, so I was looking for somewhere different to take them for breakfast. We drove to Syb's but they were closed for vacation, so we ended up at Perkins. But I made a point to go back to Syb's for lunch in spite of the two other reviews, and my experience was very good. I became fond of whitefish salad after scarfing down the stuff my daughter brought me from her brunch with her boyfriend's Jewish family in Brooklyn, so I ordered it immediately when I saw it on the menu at Syb's - whitefish salad with tomato and onion on a good bagel ($5.95) and a refreshing cup of cold homemade gazpacho ($1.75) - great! My lunch companion had the chicken salad sandwich ($6.15)and a piece of chocolate peanut butter pie (too sweet for me!), which she also enjoyed. They have a Middle East platter that I want to try next time - hummus, tabouleh, cous cous, felafel balls and eggplant - all homemade. Since my last foray for good Middle Eastern food was such a disappointment, I'd enjoy even a limited choice like this if it proves to be good. They were out of the rice pudding, so I have to try that next time, too. So many goodies to look forward to with hope in my heart (stomach ?) - I will update when I return to try other items of interest. Not a large menu, but a few goodies not found elsewhere in this gastronomic desert, and therefore worth driving across town for. (If anyone knows of a good jewish deli in the Lehigh Valley, please review it and share!) Syb's is a real neighborhood place, small and intimate and friendly. The breakfast menu appears limited to eggs in various interesting preparations, french toast made with challah bread, home fries, bagles, lox & cream cheese, kippered salmon, and such-like. I'm going back to try the breakfast as soon as I can find an early-riser dining companion :-) Definitely a small gem - I only wish it was in my neighborhood so I could drop in more often. Sorry others had a bad or blah experience - I think it really matters what you order. May turn out to be a place I go to for a limited number of favorites - I admit the crust on the quiche and pie looked too thick and unappetizing to me as I prefer a more light, delicate crust. I hope this review encourages you to give it a try if you are in the neighborhood :-)
