I have always had a good experience at Morgan's! It's a hidden gem in the Allentown area - so worth a stop in. I have had breakfast/brunch one or twice and it is always a pleasant experience with a serious spread of deliciousness! Dinner is great too, complete with salad and a bread basket to start. I love to support local businesses and this place never disappoints. It's very quaint and cozy inside and the staff is very welcoming. Unfortunately I no longer live in the area, but when home visiting family - a Morgan's trip is always on the list! Cheers!

It was with high hopes that my wife and I ventured into Morgan's on this Saturday after Christmas. Since moving into town a little over a year ago, we've not been impressed with the establishments that Allentownies gush over in their inappropriately gratuitous ratings and reviews. That being said, at three and a half stars, perhaps Morgan's would be that diamond in the rough that everybody else had overlooked. Walking up from the outside, you get the feeling that something better than mediocre awaits. Once inside, you are greeted by a room cut in half by an odd partition wall. On one side is the hostess stand. On the other is the bar and banquet area. After playing peekaboo with the hostess, my wife and I settled down at the bar. They had a single flat screen that at least had a relevant sporting event showing on the screen. The bartender seemingly had better places to be, though her service was adequate. She took our drink order in between chews of her bubble gum, then proceeded to discover that the bar was out of America's most popular vodka (look it up), Grey Goose. Not a major setback though, as we switched it up to another less popular brand. Of course they had plenty of that one. As we enjoyed our cocktails, the plain dullness of the bar area began to envelop us. Nothing about it made you feel relaxed or even comfortable. Chairs were vintage 80s with hideously upholstered cushions and hard wooden backs that only your grade school English teacher could truly appreciate. So on to dinner we go... We chose to start our culinary adventure with the fried mozzarella. For just over nine bucks, we imagined there would be more than enough to share. Oddly though, the bartender asked us if were only ordering one. Hmmmm we wondered... Shouldn't a nine dollar piece of cheese be enough? Her foreshadowing of disappointment was confirmed when the mozzarella came out considerably smaller than our minds allowed us to believe it could be. Though tasty, the bed of field greens it came out on was oddly unnecessary and the marinara could have been out of a jar. Once finished, we both decided to order the filet mignon special, which was to come with bacon horseradish mashed potatoes and chive butter. Medium was our temperature of choice and we chose the creamy gorgonzola for our salads. Remember those oddly unnecessary field greens from earlier? Well wouldn't you believe that they showed back up on our salad plates with a tiny plastic dixie cup of creamy gorgonzola. From garnish to salad, coupled now with what turned out to be a watered down version of blue cheese dressing. As we poured it on the salads, it meandered its way right to the bottom of our plates. With the salad came a modest bread basket with two pieces of rye and two pieces of some kind of spice bread. Though the rye seemed possibly fresh, the spice bread had that sheen you would find in a Giant-brand product made with only the finest hydrogenated oils. Maybe Christmas leftovers from grandma's house made it into the kitchen. When the steaks finally arrived, I was immediately struck by the afterthought that was the "vegetable du jour", green beans. Not only did they look woefully out of place on the plate, but they were devoid of even the smallest hint of seasoning. The steak itself was adequate, though at least one notch undercooked from the medium we both ordered. We honestly didn't mind having it more on the rare side (though you might), knowing that the juices would be soaked up by what should have been amazing bacon horseradish mashed potatoes. Instead, the steak sat on a bed of dry lumpy potatoes that I'm still trying to find the taste of bacon or horseradish in. I also began to feel that the only salt in the restaurant was in the shaker sitting in front of me. The kitchen must have run out, because I needed to season everything on my plate. And so I wish my journey ended there... But it didn't. Nature called and I needed to get rid of some of the beer I had with my dinner. One look at the underside of the toilet seat and it was clear somebody left that stall feeling considerably better than when they walked in. Who knows how long ago that was though. And so it ends. A quick $107 dinner, with gratuity. For once I should have listened to the Allentownies. Though far too generous at three and a half stars, seems others before us knew the truth we were hopeful not to find.

This place looks like it would be a good country inn for lunches and dinners in an old stone farmhouse. I couldn't understand why there were so many cars in the lot early mornings - beacause it just doesn't look like a breakfast spot. WRONG. Finally went in on a snowy January Saturday, and was greeted by a warm gracious hostess and waitress who filled my large mug with fresh, good coffee. Outstanding breakfast options of crepes, waffles, fritattas, pancakes - all freshly made with awesome garnishes and fillings. Good quality freshly cooked breakfast meats (not re-heated). When the toast arrives hot, and actually melts the fresh butter placed at the table, I'm impressed. Their breads are delicious, including Healty Bread, whole grains, etc. it's really like up-scale diner/comfort food in an upscale family friendly, tasteful environment. I only go here for breakfast. It would not be my dinner choice just because it's a bit too "diner-ish". A best value for relaxed Saturday breakfasts. U fortunately, not open Sundays. Grrrrrr.... If they would only open Sundays.

The food here is absolutely amazing! They always have great specials to choose from. The French onion soup is the best I've ever had!

Holy Cow!! I wish I had taken a photo of my breakfast from Saturday morning. They have quite the menu of breakfast items...everything from egg plates, waffles, pancakes, crepes, French toast, to a crab hash. Holy Moley!! So after hearing the specials of the morning were a 3 meat omelet or a raspberry white chocolate stuffed French toast, I felt I could indulge! Boy am I glad I did! it was absolutely incredible. The French toast was stuffed with a white chocolate cream cheese and drizzled with raspberry sauce. I was worried it would be overly sweet but it paired perfectly with my flowing cup of coffee and home fries. I definitely want to come back for dinner.

For the area, this is one of the better places I've had breakfast. Great prices, quick service, decent ambience, and palatable food. Will definitely return here over the thousands of diners to choose from.

I've eaten there for breakfast a few times and dinner once. All of the food I've had was really good but I feel a bit overpriced. I always have the feeling when I leave there that I should have just saved my money and went to a diner.

This place is decent for being located in a small town like Allentown. We came here for a graduation dinner. Although I can say that the food was worth 4 stars, The service was slow so they get 3 stars. I decided to share a dish with a friend. I ordered the Vodke Penne Pasta half portion which came with a salad and more than enough food. She ordered the Salmon dish that was topped with fresh and real crab with some veggies. Both dishes were great. Margaritas had too much mix in them. Appetizer of spicy shrimp were memorable and yummy. Bacon wrapped scallops were tiny.. almost dime size. Watermelon salad was overrated.

I have been many times over the last few years and it has progressively gone downhill. The food has always been decent even if a little overpriced. I was willing to pay for the nicer atmosphere. But the last few times the food was just ok. My last visit they claimed they didn't have our reservation for six people and the place was packed. They seated us after I mentioned who I had spoken with and then claimed they just didn't have their book to check for a reservation. That can happen and they fixed it. But then my food was not good. It tasted freezer burnt and some of the other plates were really messy. I had a Brie appetizer that was supposed to have a walnut sauce that honestly tasted and looked like a jarred ice cream topping that was mixed with some fruit. I will be taking a break from Morgans.

My husband and I decided to try it while out for our anniversary. We were very disappointed. Walking in was lovely. It was warm and homey and we were greeted right away by a friendly lady. The staff was great from beginning to end but the food was not good and the place is very dated. We started with bacon wrapped scallops and were surprised to get so little for $10.50. There were 5 small scallops and very little bacon on top of a plate of greens. The side sauce was nice. The French onion soup had no bread in it except for a very small crouton smaller than a cube of sugar! The salads were okay. Greens, cucumber, a cherry tomato cut in half with croutons. We had the Gorgonzola dressing which was lovely. The bread basket was yummy. My favorite was the zucchini bread. Our dinners came out and were disappointing. I ordered those NY Strip done rare with green beans and roasted red potatoes. My steak was close to well done, barely any pink and it seems to be microwaved. The potatoes had been cooked more than once. They too seemed to be microwaved and maybe thrown in a deep fryer. The skins were cooked so hard that it crunched like plastic. The green beams were nice. Our waitress was lovely and noticed the over cooked meat. She did offer to throw a new one on the grill but I declined. She offered us a dessert from the tray and I chose the cheesecake. One bite in, I came across egg shells! Again, the service and staff there are very kind, but the quality of food for the prices was nuts! We spent $87 there and left very disappointed.

Definitely doesn't have enough $$ signs. Should be 3 but salmon was good. No beer on tap but had Guinness in bottle. Bread was great as well as salad. Weird little place if you sit at the bar. Locals stare at you. Overall, beautiful place.

My first time here. I came here for breakfast. Food was OK but I think Chris' Family Restaurant was easily as good (for breakfast) and a lot better value. I had a Belgium waffle. Does not come with anything other than syrup. When you add other items the quality/taste don't warrant the price i.e. it was not substantially better. I also sampled the frittata and pancakes As another reviewer stated it should have more $$ signs and I see it was raised to $$$. When you compare Morgans to other higher priced restaurants I don't think it holds up. It does have a nice atmosphere and I did want to try it but now that I have I wont be coming back.

Upscale NY prices...not appropos. Although the atmosphere is very welcoming, I was somewhat disappointed in the food and beverages. The upscale wine per glass is served in small glasses not appropriate for the price per glass. What about bulbus glasses? On the plus side, the crab cakes are very delicious, with back fin lump crab. The augratin seafood lacked the augratin sauce and had globs of white sauce with no flavor. The house salad is served on chilled plates and is very fresh. The side vegetables were nondescript. Maybe we will return just for the crab cakes.

I had an awesome breakfast with my wife this morning! She had the Pumpkin & Spice Waffle, I had the Caramel Apple Crepes, and we split the Sausage Frittata. We thought we'd bring some food home, but we ate everything! The waitress even split the frittata on 2 plates for us. We can't wait to go back!

Morgan's is ok. Not bad but not anything to write home about. It serves standard American fare (steak, salad, fish, chicken) in a stuffy atmosphere, visited mostly by business types and older folks, looking for pretentious ambiance and higher prices. Bottom line: This restaurant is very average and the food is prepared very plainly. I find that the food is too plain for the pricing and the atmosphere too stuffy. If I had to take someone out, and didn't know what his/her tastes were, this might be a good place - it's so plain that it won't offend anyone.

Morgan's is a nice restaurant with dependable breakfast fare at rock bottom prices. My boyfriend and I were visiting my sister and her boyfriend. They took us here and we were quite happy. I had the day's special, ricotta and strawberry pancakes, which filled up my stomach quite nicely. Very fluffy and rich. The service was friendly and attentive. Dinner's a bit more pricey.

Meh! The food is consistent, but the menu is small and after eating lunch here a bunch of times over the years, I just can't find any reason to go back. The prices are a little higher than normal for the area. Also the clientele is strange - mostly older diners wearing suits, ties, dresses, etc. Maybe this is a popular spot for an after-funeral luncheon?

A very good restaurant full of warmth and good cheer. I was there for a working dinner. Excellent service and a small menu with enough to satisfy most tastes. Everyone at the table was satisfied with their soups, salads, and entrées. I had salmon which was fresh, crisp, and tasty. The house salad was fine if not distinguished. The restaurant was an easy four stars but not enough uniqueness to merit that fifth star. If I could I would give 4 1/2 given the excellent execution which resulted in a fine dinner.

What a very strange place. I was so very hopeful that it would be a great experience, even good would've been nice. I really really want to support local business. My husband and I came for dinner on Saturday night. We are social people so we like to sit at the bar for our meals to enjoy good conversation with our bartender, people watch, etc. When we first walked in we knew this wouldn't be the case. I believe I read that this building was from the 1700's...the bar was straight out of a cheap 1980's movie. It was segregated from the rest of the restaurant, so out of place, and it had zero ambiance. The only view we had was of some weird server table in a hallway with juice bottles all over it...Ocean Spray and various other bottles. I am not sure exactly what this table was and why it was there. Additionally a young gentleman from the kitchen came to the bar area to fill his glass with soda twice while we were sitting there. The bartender was preoccupied so we did not partake in any conversation during our time here. The nicest, happiest, most outgoing person here was a dishwasher that came out from the kitchen to stock the bar. Kudos to him. He made eye contact with us, he smiled, and greeted us and asked how we were. So, now for the food. My husband already reviewed the food but I will call out my brief opinions. 1. No Grey Goose, no beer on tap. 2. Small $9 fried cheese...good but small for $9. The center was cold. 3. Salad dressing, creamy Gorgonzola should've been called watery Gorgonzola. In a cheap plastic container. 4. Bacon Horseradish mashed potatoes were dry and had very little flavor. Actually no flavor. The only purpose they served was to soak in the "juices" from my undercooked Filet. 5. The filet, oh the filet. So first, I have never seen a filet presented the way this was. Shame on me for not taking a picture. The filet was placed on top of the flavorless, dry mashed potatoes. On top of the filet was a big slab of herb butter. In my opinion...no butter, no butter ever on a filet. I assumed the butter that was mentioned on the menu was going to be on the mashed potatoes. Oh no, right on top of my filet. I immediately removed it from my filet. My filet was undercooked. I asked for medium, this was barely cooked. That's ok by me, like my husband, I'd rather undercooked than overcooked and I wasn't about to hand it back to them. But why can't they cook a filet to the proper temperature? I assume it is "fine dining" cooking 101. So here is where it gets weird. No less than three times some guy in a t-shirt came from the kitchen walked behind me. Made me very uncomfortable. He never said anything to me. My husband believes it was the owner/cook because he saw his picture online. He comes out of the kitchen one last time and requests that the bartender comes into the kitchen. Two minutes later she comes out and asks if the filet was cooked enough. What she said was - "your filet is cooked enough, right?". I said yes because like I said, I'd rather under than overcooked. So, here is my issue...why didn't the man come up to me and ask me? Why did he make me uncomfortable by walking behind me and peaking at my food? Furthermore why did he allow the filet out of the kitchen without knowing if it was cooked enough? We dropped $100 and told them at least twice that it was our first time there. Why on earth did the owners not come out and ask how about our experience? So that's all I can write. A very awkward experience. I gave this establishment two stars because the food was edible. I hesitate to give anyone one star. In my opinion one star is reserved for awful food and rude people. This establishment had edible food and indifferent people.

I went here with my family for dinner while we were visiting my grandmother. My mom and sister had been here once before and loved it. The restaurant itself is very rustic and has a great feel to it. We were enjoying our time, and the banana bread and appetizers were wonderful. Then they brought our salads out. It was good, but as I was eating it, I found a LIVE BUG on the bite I was about to eat. This has NEVER happened to me in a restaurant. I was appalled. The manager came over, and both the manager and the server apologized. They were as surprised as I was. I told them that it wasn't their fault, and mistakes can happen in restaurants. We understood that. They brought me another drink "on the house" and we finished our meal. But when they brought the check, there was no discount or anything. They did bring us another dessert after my grandmother said she didn't like hers, but for finding a live bug in the food, I thought they would do something a little bigger. I inquired about it, telling them I was going to be fair to other diners and leave them a review online, and they ended up comping my meal. The manager was very calm and professional and explained their policy to me - there wasn't anything wrong with my actual entree so that's why they decided to bring me a free drink instead of comping any of the food. But in my book, if something is crawling in a customer's food, you do a little more than bring them another drink. The manager also offered a wheelchair to my 89-year-old grandmother to bring her down their long ramp to the parking lot which was very nice. So the staff was great, but I'd advise checking your salad before eating it.

Went here last minute after grocery shopping for a drink and appetizers. We sat at the bar and there wasn't anyone around. We got here at 8, they close at 9... I got the strawberry Bellini which was fantastic! He got a bottled beer. They don't have taps, so your stuck with hard liquor or bottled brews... We shared the appetizer. We chose to get nachos. They were very good, however I was expecting something better. Seems like they just threw it in the microwave to melt the cheese. The salsa does have a kick to it, so it's spicy. I did not get the guacamole. So I can't review that. We will be back. Next time for breakfast!
