Amazing as usual , we dined out side this evening with wine and cocktails and Caesar salad and cheese fondue and dessert which was perfect & light for a warm August evening! Always a decadent treat to eat here!

A really pleasant surprise...stopped here after climbing Mt Hood and was famished. I had the BEST burger I've been served in years. Absolutely delicious. Service was very relaxed and friendly. Great local brews. Highly recommended!

Delicious meal and outstanding service. The menu features fresh, local produce and the waiter's knowledge of the menu helped to make selection we would really enjoy. The tomato soup and bacon-crusted salmon are two menu standouts!

Always good food and service. Enjoyed salmon salad there and ate a sandwich at a different time. This is my favorite place in the area to eat

This place was awesome! I had the caprese salad (not the actual name at this restaurant) and the coconut cream pie for dessert. Another diner in my party brought me here during my visit from Maryland and I was not disappointed. She comes here often when she is traveling to that particular part of Oregon.

My grandparents own a small cabin up in this part of Oregon and we've been coming to Zig Zag / Welches / Government Camp ever since I was a young lad. Since the Rendezvous opened years back, this has been my family's place for fine dining in the immediate area. In recent years, I would've given this place a two star rating (mostly for lackluster food that is a little overpriced); however, for old-times sake and the good memories, I would've given it a four. Hence, the compromise of three stars. I truly think it depends what night you come in, who your server is and how crowded the restaurant may be at the time. My grandmother swears by the fried razor clams, so that's a must-try for seafoodies. My wife and I typically get the cheese plate, which, to us, is exceptional as far as cheese plates go (good selection of nuts, fruit, cheese that doesn't overwhelm, usually some delicately thin-sliced pears...heavenly). I've had a variety of sandwiches and burgers, none of which are overly impressive or disappointing. Just solid, upscale pub food. They have a decent beer and wine list, which is always nice, and if nothing else, the ambience is fairly mellow. Like most restaurants in the area, whether it's fine dining or not, casual attire is just fine. Their servers are typically very friendly and attentive.

Great food. Poor service. Food looked amazing. Few choices for people allergic to seafood. But was definitely fresh and very well prepared. Obvious who was regulars. Got way better service and more attention. Was asked if I would like some wine but was never able to order something to drink other than wine. Water was never refilled.

We had a wonderful dinner on the back patio. Hubby had the Ling Cod cooked in Crazy Water and I had the rigatone with smoked chicken with spinach, hazelnuts, and dried cranberries. We both had the Tom yum soup a Thai vegetable sweet and sour cup of deliciousness. You could smell the lemongrass as soon as the cup was placed before you. We ordered the lemon tart with huckleberry sauce and topped with blueberries. This was one of the best dinners ever. Service was very good. Service staff definitely aim to please without being overbearing. The back patio has five tables and was nice and quiet. There is a front patio close to Hwy 26 and inside seating in the bar area as well as the grill. This is a definite gem.

This is absolutely the finest dining in the area. Well worth the price. Great staff. Great management.this is where you go for a date.

GOOD FOOD AND SERVICE. This small town restaurant has a good menu and attentive service. Our dining party ordered salmon fish and chips, Reuben sandwich, and a pasta dish. The food was above average, the service quite good, and a decent place in the Welches area. There are not a lot of good choices down from Mt. Hood. The Welches area is a cross section of Portland seasonal tourists, locals and blue collars, and some not quite friendly yahoos who probably run meth labs in the hills. Rendezvous Grill offers one of the better alternatives without going into Sandy or dining at Timberline lodge. They have a decent drink menu and this should do the job compared to the other dives in town.

This place is Great! Wonderful fresh food prepared by hand. Can't believe it's been around for 20 years & today was the first time I had been there. Definitely going back here, everything was Delicious!

I love good eating in a gorgeous setting and that's what we got here. Our food was creative and delicious, definitely not what I expected at a small cafe on the way to Mt. Hood. Plus, the service was superb and I wanted to eat every single dessert they had. If you live anywhere near here and haven't eaten here then there is quite a treat in store for you. Well done all the way around!

My husband and I went here for dinner when we were staying a cabin near by for our honeymoon. It was a good experience! The service was good; the steak dinner was so delicious and tender you could have cut it with a butter knife. If you go here, don't skip the dessert especially if they have their peanut butter moose pie with chocolate gnash! (Usually have that dessert in Aug-Oct they tell me.)

Came in here hungry, thirsty, and a little dirty after hiking Mount Hood on July 4. They didn't mind and seated us immediately. I had a delicious seafood Cobb. Great food and service.

We finally made it back this year for Father's day lunch with my husband, son and his wife. We had talked the place up to the new daughter-in-law and ended up having one of the worst service events in history of eating out. Well, maybe not THE worst, but pretty close. It was lunch service, not the packed to the gills dinner service, where dad eats free after 4pm. My husband had to catch a flight, so we were stuck with the lunch menu, which was limited in choices. It had mostly seafood on it, and as we were seated, the waitress told us they were out of almost all the fish dishes. I wasn't sure what would be left then. We waited forever for the drink order to be taken and we put the appetizer order in at the same time, for the Mediterranean plate. It took 30 minutes to get it. From the time we were seated at 1pm, it took until 2:40pm to get our actual dinners. Bayley and I,ordered the same grilled halibut dish, only I left the rice off of mine. The waitress brought her plate out at 2:15 and then my plate at 2:25 with the rice and missing the greens, so back it went before I even said anything. She sat there the entire time waiting for the rest of us. My plate came back and it was still another ten minutes before my husband's plate came out. I can honestly say, out of the millions of times eating out, this is the first time I have ever experienced that kind of time warp of getting our plates at the same time. When it did come back I noticed my fish was half the size of hers, very small piece for $19. I told my husband it looked like I split my order with another table, since when I ordered, the waitress told us we were getting the last two orders in the house. I can tell you the times, since we were seated by the kitchen and could see the microwave clock on the wall. The seafood medley on top of my fish was pretty good, and the fish was okay. There was one other table seated behind us and two tables outside, so it wasn't like they were overwhelmed. The waitress seemed very flustered and not too friendly, right up until it was check time ($135 for four people, no alcohol involved and only 3 ice teas) and suddenly she was really nice and patting my son on the shoulder and asking me where I was from because I had a southern accent. I told my husband she whipped out all the checklist items in waitressing 101 to get a good tip. I was so over it by that point. The owner is a really nice guy and I can't bring it to a one star for that reason, but I just can't get past the service quality either. I don't even want to go back. We had lunch in there not too long ago, and it was slow then too, and we were the only ones in there. We never get bogged down and whine and complain while we are eating out, even when it is glaringly obvious service is not up to par. We enjoy each other's company and then I come home and yelp it. So, that said, my husband did like salmon he got. My son ordered the bratwurst plate and it was one small bratwurst and straw french fries for $15. For $15 there should have been two bratwurst I think, as did his wife. He came home and ate a sandwich, which I didn't blame him, since his plate was so sparse.

We happened to come here on their anniversary celebration. We got a 3-course meal for $20. You just can't beat that! Food was good. Wine was pretty good. Nice service.

Good food for a reasonable price in a very cozy and friendly atmosfere. A pure treasure hidden in the mount hood area.

Been here several times over the last 10 years. The best food on Mt Hood. My go to favorite is the alder smoked chicken and rigatoni. The desserts are phenomenal and feAture local berries in season. Tonight had Halibut Piccata special and the berries and cream dessert. Good wine selection and friendly service. The only place for a nice dinner up here.

What a wonderful meal in a restful setting with excellent service and innovative food. I started with the special Thai Potato soup which had chunks of carrot, potatoes, a slight spice with coconut milk and curry. It was very creative and delicious. I followed that with breaded and fried salmon which was a very surprising and tasty dish. As if this wasn't enough, I had the best pumpkin cheesecake of my life. If you saw me, you would know that is a lot of pumpkin cheesecake. This is more than worth the drive out from Portland even if you aren't going to visit Mt. Hood as we were. If you're lucky you will be able to eat on their patio. Oh and insist on dessert. Maybe have it frist.

    (5)
  • Karie H.

Wow! Superb food, fantastic service, and beautiful surroundings in their outdoor patio. We were here for lunch and had the sockeye salad and the salmon fish and chips. I want to come back for dinner and choose one of their wine selections and other menu items. And why bother driving in to Portland for dessert when they have an amazing selection here?! We tried the blackcap tart and the boccone dolce....yum!!! It's a little spendy (especially if you have a sweet booth like me!)! However, if you want quality food and an overall good experience, I would definitely recommend it!

  • Ed B.

If your coming or going to Mt. Hood from Portland and your hungry you should not pass this place by. We had an assortment of small dishes, the pork shank, fondue, fried oysters, escargot and mushroom soup. Everything was great. We finish with white cake with chocolate frosting. The service was top notch to compliment the five star rating. Great food great service = 5 stars.

  • Juanjo F.

Unsophisticated but tasty and great quality. Friendly staff. The desserts are to die for. Reasonably priced it is probably one of the best choices around for dinner

I went to the Rendezvous with some friends for dinner during one of their anniversary special nights. The drinks from the bar were delicious, the service was prompt and professional and friendly, and the food... the food was delicious! It was so delicious I took my family back the next night to enjoy yet another fabulous meal. If my wallet and waistline could afford it, I would be eating there frequently and regularly.

  • Billy F.

On vacation to Government Camp, went here for a date night and really enjoyed all the food and service! We enjoyed a Calamari, Spinach Salad, and Rigatoni Chicken (wonderful sauce), and the Chef's specialty (Chocolate mousse with caramelized hazelnut). The waitress was helpful and nice and split our plates without us asking! I hope to get back on my next trip to the mountain.

  • Kyle D.

We've been stopping here for years whenever we are returning to Portland from the Mountain. The food has always been tremendous and they have a nice wine/beer selection. It is a nice touch that they'll mix the lettuce at your table. The tap room is cozy and I would recommend it over the restaurant itself as the restaurant can get a little cold.

  • RpwFour F.

Old Oysters, unimaginative rice, tired side dishes, and LOUD, intrusive ill-mannered guests. Did I mention the high prices?

Really great place to get some delicious food in the Mt. Hood area. I had the miso salmon and it was juicy and scrumptious!

  • Kara T.

It's a great place to pick up a sandwich and soup. I had a sandwich with a huge piece of melted cheese, roast beef and slices of deep fried potatoes. It was different and pretty greasy. The bread was grilled in tons of butter. I found the food to be "warm and cozy" food you can pretty make at home if you wanted to, but are too lazy to. Service was super friendly.

  • MIKE J.

I went for valentines with my wife and had the best steak Oscar with dungeness crab i have ever had. Tom the owner as always stoped at the table to check on are meal and make sure all was well. This was a perfect meal a true 10

  • Sandi B.

My very favorite restaurant. Try the razor clams when in season. They're to die for.

    (5)
  • Kit E.

I liked the food here! They had a special appetizer that involved lobster mushroom + garlic + white wine = DELICIOUS. Servers were friendly and attentive. They serve really fresh seafood with local seasonal ingredients. I recommend coming here to eat while you're in the hood (Mt. Hood in Oregon, that is...)

We ate at the Rendevous four times this week and every meal was excellent. I cannot believe my boys loved oysters, but the fried Willapa Bay oysters impressed them and are now their favorite. My sockeye salmon was delicious and our desserts were divine. Service was great too. What a treasure this establishment is for the Mt. Hood community.

  • Ty R.

The food is amazing! I had the fish and oh my goodness, it was incredible, a seafood lovers dream. The restaurant is very nice and quiet due to how many people they allow inside at any given time. This tactic is really nice but at the same time makes a LONG wait for people waiting for a table. Once you're inside, it was definetly worth the wait.

  • John D.

Incredible service and excellent food. Go for the porkloin sandwich in the Tap Room.

  • Tracy H.

We love this place! We never drive by it any more if we are on Hwy 26. Their bone-in pork chop and Arugula Beet Salad is awesome. Don't waste your time with any of the other crappy restaurants in the area. This place makes finely crafted dishes that show they really care. They were even playing great Blues music tonight. Perfect score for sure!

  • Cedar Creek R.

This is an outstanding menu for everything from an artisan hamburger, to chops that are just delightful with tasteful sauces and sides.

    (4)
  • TASTY T.

Modestly Pretentious... This place reminds me of a nerd Notihing to right home about in regards to appearance but smart as hell which makes him a little snooty. But Rendezvous is a nerd with a big "unit," you are kind of annoyed and ready to leave but BAM there it is and wow the food is good. What more can I say, don't let the modest appearance and pretentious menu deter you until you actually have the food.

Great restaurant. I had the salmon. Trolled caught and VERY fresh. Topped with a very nice roasted tomato butter sauce. Also had the escargot. Cook in the traditional fashion with butter and garlic. A bit tough, no shell. My husband had a pasta dish and was very pleased with the taste and texture. To finish things off, we had the home-made ice cream with caramel and brownie. For caramel lovers, this is a FABULOUS desert. The ice cream is very lightly coffee flavored. There is a bit of moist brownie on the top, some whipped cream, and all the rest of the tall glass contains ice cream layered with home made caramel. The very bottom of the glass has more brownie. DELICIOUS! Excellent service, great food. This is a first class restaurant but dress is casual. Highly recommended.

  • Kristofer H.

A bit spendy but the food is great. If you are not going the formal route; hit up the Tap Room menu. The pork sandwich is amazing and only $12. Probably the best food in the Welches area.

Serious food in a not so serious place. Devastating desserts. So goes the Rendezvous' pitch on marketing materials and I can't think of a better way to sum up the restaurant than that. SERVICE: Except, perhaps, to add flawlessly friendly service. Because in the dozen or so times we've enjoyed a meal at Rendezvous' over the past half dozen years, that has been one of the restaurant's best assets. Just as it was when we stopped in for lunch this week to enjoy delicious lunch and top notch service from Jessica A. SETTING: The Rendezvous is more than a tad off the beaten path of major population centers, being not far from the base of Mt. Hood at Milepost 40 on Rte 26. But it's on the way from our home in Central Oregon to Portland Airport and given nearly a four hour trip "door to door", the Rendezvous is a good place to have a nosh whichever direction we're headed. Whether we eat in the cozy dining room or on the back patio garden. TIP: Choose the patio during the months it is open. FOOD: This week the stop was for lunch, we ate outside on a warm early fall afternoon and for less than $9 we enjoyed perfect BLTA sandwich, Peppered bacon, fresh LTA, thinly sliced and perfectly toasted sourdough bread and house made smoked onion aioli. It was plenty big enough for two light eaters and came with salad tossed with a house made orange balsamic vinaigrette. But whether you order from hand crafted sandwiches or salads or homemade soups or burgers or entrees or weekend brunch items you can't go wrong here. TIP If razor clams are in season, the Rendezvous preparation of those delights from the sea is one of the best ever. And desserts really are scrumptious. We passed them up this time, but it's tough not to succumb to at least one of the homemade offerings from fruit cobblers, to chocolate tarts, to layer cakes, to sorbet, to parfaits of ice cream and decadent sauces to creme brulee...the list is ever changing and they're all great. Ask us how we know that? DRAWBACK: Pride of ownership is evident so it's most surprising that they've got one big omission here...there are no accessible bathrooms for guests who use wheelchairs. Something we noted when we recommended this to a friend and her family, a teen daughter uses a wheelchair, and found the mere minimums of ADA in bathroom access not met making some people, like our friend and her daughter, feel most unwelcome and "second class". Tough to understand in a place so friendly that they'd have this big flaw. They ought to fix that, for sure.

I visited the Rendezvous Grill last night with my wife, kids and in laws. My wife and in-laws had eaten here a week before and raved about it. We had a fantastic dinner with excellent service. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and would go back in a heartbeat!

Great food and great service, thanks fellow yelpers! It was a great choice, wine down Wednesday was just what I needed. This was our first visit review in June and now it is August and just ate here twice the first night was as excepted put second night not so good had a pasta dish that we should have sent back, it was was swimming in olive oil? Not sure if that was the way it was to be served but you don't want soft pasta with alot of olive oil. Probally will try again next time we are in town.

We were given this place as suggestion for lunch, but went for dinner. We are so glad we did. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. The salads and entrees were excellent, with unique offerings and sides. Next time back to the area, we are stopping in for dinner.

Writing this review breaks my heart. We were on vacation in the area and, at the suggestion of people at the Resort at the Mountain, we decided to eat here. The food tasted oh-so-yummy and the service was wonderful!!! I had a pork sandwich that was out of this world! Our waiter (whose name I can't remember, but he had a ponytail) was funny, patient and a delight. He made our experience even more fun. When my hubby was served his salmon, I thought to myself that it didn't look or smell right, but I didn't say anything to him since he was pleased with the dish. Unfortunately, my husband woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning from the salmon that he ate. In case you are wondering how he knows it was food poisoning...he is a doctor and had all the classic signs. Had it not been for the food poisoning, I would have given this restaurant 5 stars.

Used to come here all the time years ago. Food was always great and service really great as well. Then the menu changed a bit, prices went up, and the quality of the food went down. Service the last few times we've been there has been down right terrible, so instead of heading up the mountain to dine, we head into Portland where we KNOW we will get great food and service at a ton of different restaurants. Sad though, as this used to be our place to go.

Great meal, attentive - if eccentric - waitstaff. Will definitely be returning JB my next trip.

  • Sheila O.

This is not a "fancy" spot, and I would probably rate it a 4 in other areas, but compared to anything near here, it's clearly a 5 - the best place around. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, and great wine list. Love it!

I was visiting friends in ZigZag, and decided to eat at the Rendezvous Grill. I had the filet, as did my husband. My son had the Ribeye. Everything was delicious, and somewhat unexpected, since the location is a bit far, We had a very nice bottle of white wine that our server recommended, and we shared a freshly made berry dessert, warm from the oven. Yum Yum. Our server was amazing. She made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant. If ever back in ZigZag or Welches, I will definitely go back and I would recommend it to anyone on their way to or from Mt. Hood.

  • Bruce B.

I agree with most of the other reviews here. I had a very nice experience last night at Rendevous. Service was okay, but could have been a bit more attentive. The kale and butternut squash salad from the specials was delicious, and so was the prosciutto wrapped shrimp dish. I'll definitely go back and try some of their other menu items.

  • Annie H.

Ohmygoodness. After a harrowing stay at the Resort at the Mountain across the street we really really needed this meal! So good. All together we tried the calamari with lemon sauce, beet and kale salad, Shanghai shrimp, burger and a couple of cocktails. The calamari was good, the salad was great, the shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the sauce it was in was just the right amount of sweet and spicy and the veggies were crisp and refreshing. My burger hit the spot (with Tillamook cheese, pickled onions) and the fries that came with it were amazing (thin and crispy). I'm getting hungry just thinking about it...

  • Stephanie J.

We are regulars at the Rendezvous, sometimes for a casual meal here and there, maybe a plate of calamari in the tap room, and sometimes for special occasions. We are always welcomed to the restaurant with recognition by the stellar staff. I've never had a service issue with this place in all my visits. The food is excellent. People complain about prices, but I find the prices to be moderate considering the food. And the tap room menu is cheaper and still just as good. The ingredients are local, fresh and delicious, and the dessert selections (which are always presented on what I call 'the tray of evil' to customers after dinner to trap them into a few thousand extra calories) are consistently delicious. The staff knows I have a penchant for the escargots, and they are quick to ask me if I'll have those to start. The menu evolves at a nice pace, with some recurring yummies that come and go like old friends. The burger is YUMMY. The crab cakes are very nice. We came for my birthday dinner this year, and they allowed my husband to come in and prep the table with flowers, they treated me like a princess and I love the whole staff. It's a very nice restaurant, one of the best on the mountain--it's nice and stylish, but they're okay if you show up in riding pants caked in mud and smelling like horse. They have a great wine selection, a great selection of locally brewed beer and one of the staff makes the most amazing infused vodkas that include huckleberries and cucumber. You have to try them. A double thumbs-up for our local treasure, and a hug to the chef I've never met.

  • Gerald B.

Have been going to this restaurant since they opened in the mid 90s, probably have eaten there dozens of times. We have never had a bad meal always fresh ingredients, well prepared, a good selection of wines, a service has always been very good. We have especially liked their theme nights and cooking classes in the past. Menu is very creative and always changing. We noticed last night on a wednesday they were very busy which really says something in this severe recession we are in. Staff was very attentive and again the New York for me and fresh fish for my wife were outstanding!

  • Liz K.

This place is perfect if you are in the mountains and want a great meal in a really cozy place. The menu is surprisingly sophisticated with chef-y dishes and fresh ingredients. We had escargot and mussels apps, then salads that came w/ the dinner. Filet mignon, salmon, duck and pork dishes all really good. Awesome dessert tray - we had a gingerbread cake with homemade apple cider ice cream which was excellent! 2nd time here and I would go back again! Great service both times.

The Rendezvous Gril was recommended to us by the owners of a home we rented in Welches. Honestly, if it were not for the recommendation I would never had even seen this place. I don't get internet service on my smart phone in the area so I had no way to Yelp this location. We went completely on faith, hoping we were not steered wrong. From the outside this place does not stand out. It appears to be your average restaurant, nothing special. When we stepped inside and saw that the dinning room was closed for lunch and we had to sit in the much smaller bar area I became a little nervous, especially with a small child in tow. We sat in one of the open tables (there were about three other small groups already eating inside). The chairs were rickety and old.....uh oh. Did we make a bad choice coming here? Then the very friendly waitress comes by and drops off some menus. I order the Mediterranean Hummus plate, a pasta dish and the hubby orders a pork sandwich. The Hummus dish was delivered within a few minutes. It was BIG and loaded with olives, marinated onions, pita wedges, feta cheese, marinated tomatoes, and of course hummus. It was so damn good! The BEST hummus dish I have ever, ever had! And trust me, I have had a lot! I could have eaten that all day every day! Oh, forgot to mention that before our hummus arrived, the waitress came by and brought us a small basket of toys safe for our little one to play with. She told us they sanitize them in the dish washer after every use so that they were clean and safe for our baby to gnaw on. What a kind gesture and such a great way to keep little ones happy! (and mommy's happy too!!) A little later our main dishes were served. My pasta was so yummy, my husbands sandwich looked delicious and had the most interesting flavor. I have never tasted anything like it before. He devoured it! I looked at my husband at this point and asked him, "Can you imagine if we turned around and never tried this place out?" We both shook our heads. We were so thankful to have given this place a shot. It was such an all around pleasant experience. And with most dinning experiences like this, if I am this happy with main dishes, bring on the desserts. Desserts! Oh, the desserts!!! Why did every single thing on the tray have to sound and look so darn good!! It wasn't fair that I had to choose just one! I am still not happy about that! I finally settled on some apple caramel crisp thing. Sorry, can't recall what it was called, and frankly, who cares!! Just ask for the apple thing! It was so good! I have got to get back to this place so that I can try the other desserts!!!!!! I have to say that the staff here was amazingly friendly and efficient. They made our experience here at the Rendezvous all that much better. We can not wait to return!!!

Came in for some hiking and stayed at the resort on the mountain in welches. This place looked like a good place for dinner and could eat out on the garden/patio in nice weather. Excellent salmon with morel mushrooms, hubbyy had fried oysters that were fresh and very crispy, rhubarb/strawberry crumble like my mom's, you won't be disappointed.

Husband and I stopped here on our way back from Government Camp today. We were the only patrons there which wasn't surprising since it was about 2:30 on a weekday. We knew the prices were higher than we usually pay, but since we both weren't major hungry, we decided to split the Roasted Carlton Farms Pork Loin Sandwich (ciabbata bread, white Grafton cheddar cheese, mayo, and tomato chutney), which was recommended by Stephanie, our friendly and very helpful server. It arrived within just a few minutes with the restaurant's homemade ketchup, which was delicious. The sandwich was awesome and incredibly yummy. Hint: if you order it, get extra napkins... you're gonna need them! Stephanie warned us that it was messy but oh, so worth the mess, and she was absolutely right. Yeah, the prices are high ($12.50 for a hamburger (brioche bun, smoked onion aioli, marinated red onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle, salad or fries), but then that's not a very usual burger, either. I wouldn't mind coming back again for a special occasion. It's definitely upscale, with cloth napkins even. Although we didn't see the dinner menu, I expect that the variety of choices is just as good as on the lunch menu. They say, "Serious food in a not-so-serious place", with "devastating desserts". I believe it. Nice ambiance, nicely decorated, and clean restrooms. Nice place to go to on your way to or from the mountain.

We really enjoy this place. It is a must visit when we go snowshoeing up on MT Hood. My sweetie always has the Salmon, served on a real sexy salad with a sauce that we buy by the quart and take home. I have tried many dishes and everytime it is spot on, fresh, hot and made from quality ingredients. The service is great and I wish more waiters and waitress were trained as well as at the Rendezvous Grill. Great wine selection, bar next door has lots to offer. The chef is a prodessional and it shows in her food. This is not a place with some random cooks in the back, she came out and checked in on us. The owners have really made every effort to make sure their restaurant is first class. TWe will always be back when we are in the area. do not miss the dessert tray, even if you are full, just looking is satisfying!

We went with two grandkids, and had a blast. The food was great (we brought some extra salad dressing and desert home!), the service was exemplary and the kids had crayons and a coloring book. Our GPS was confused, but we found it anyway. The WiFi didn't connect (maybe the reception in the bar would have been better), but the cell phone did. A great stop before you head up Mt. Hood. Medium pricey, but we left a well deserved large tip.

I've eaten here about a dozen times over the last 10 years. Never had a bad meal and I've had some excellent meals - usually the chef's daily specials. Service seems better in the dining room than the tap room. Generally one of the best bets on the mountain.

Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere. Our waiter was a wealth of information on wine and food selection, and it was nice to meet the chef as well. A great find here in Welches.

The Rendezvous Grill is a friendly place with mediocre food and high prices. The establishment is not without its bright points. The staff is attentive, helpful, and personable. The decor is pure mountain kitsch, but precisely as you'd expect. The draft beer list is locally focused and good, and the servers are competent in describing their various offerings. However, don't be fooled by their menu writers, who must have never met their cooks. For example, I ordered the "Ernst Ranch Burger with Tillamook Cheddar." ($10.50) From their menu: "Raised in Estacada, Oregon, all natural and grass fed beef, on a brioche bun, with smoked onion aioli, trimmings and fries." What I received was an obviously frozen stamped patty (perfectly round, perfectly 1/2" thick all around) with the cheese melted under a broiler till transparent. It came not on brioche but on a sesame seed bun with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and pickled (I tasted no "smoked") red onions. The fries were also straight-up Sysco style frozen factory fries with no flavor. My wife ordered the "Northwest Dungeness Crab and Shrimp Cakes" ($12.95) which comes "with chipotle Remoulade, roasted vegetables and field greens served with soup." She described them as "flavorless." The "chipotle remoulade" mentioned on the menu was "tartar sauce with cayenne." I tried neither, so your milage may vary. There aren't many choices along Rt 26 between Portland & Mt Hood. I would imagine that most of the traffic is tourists. Here, the food is a bait and switch from menu to table, the staff friendly and attentive, and the prices outrageous. My advice? Keep driving.

Had dinner here on St Pat's day. Everything was great. Servers were adults who were friendly and focused on their customers. Dinner was excellent and well under $20. This is not your place if you just want a cheap burger and fries. But a great choice for real food at a decent price.

This restaurant is amazing. I cannot say more good things about it so the 5 stars speak for itself. They have a 5 star chef that makes to-die- dinner entrees and desserts that you cannot say no to, no matter how full you are! If you are heading up to the mountain to ski, snowboard, or hike I definitely recommend stopping here for dinner, lunch or dessert. The owner is very friendly and so is the staff.

I stop in to the Rendezous on the way back from the mountains and I have been known to drive all the way from Portland for their salmon salad. I eat in the bar, which is intimate and has a mountain vibe. Alone or with friends the drinks and food never

This place is a nice change from all the bar/pub food in town. My husband and I were in town for a few days and came here for a nice dinner. It's upscale compared to most of the places in town but still casual. Food was delicious, atmosphere was cozy and service was fantastic. Wish we could have gone again!

Haven't been to the 'Vous for a number of months but went tonight and, as always, food and service was great Three of us ordered the Pork Sandwich - wonderful! Just the right combination of sweet and spicy. Also tried the turnip/pear/bacon soup - yummy! The fourth member of our group ordered the tried-and-true salmon salad. Crisp greens, great dressing and a large portion of freshly grilled salmon. We were stuffed to the gills and then .... the dessert tray shows up. In spite of the fact that we were far and away beyond stll hungry we ordered the Godiva White Chocolate Brulee and a surprising homemade lemon ice cream/huckleberry sauce concoction. Both desserts were, as usual, awesome. Save room for dessert - you won't be disappointed. Service is efficient and friendly and the owner checked in to make sure we were happy. This is a great place in the summer and winter - well worth the drive. Right now they're offering half-price appetizers and/or entrees in the Grill (bar area) on certain nights of the week -call ahead if you want the details, plus they have some special events coming up during December. At full price the food is well priced and worth what they're asking. At half price? It's an incredibly awesome deal!

The filet mignon was fantastic! One of the best I've ever had. (And I am a midwestern girl so I know my steak).... Mediterranean platter was fabulous... Service was excellent. You can get as dressed up or as casual as you like. Will definitely be returning when I'm back in the area.

A real surprise in a small Oregon town. Food as good as the best Portland restaurants. We always enjoy every dish and the service is excellent. Nice wine list by the glass or bottle and glass wines are generous portions. Desserts are made in-house and delicious. But if you see something on the dessert tray before you're finished that you like, ask the server to reserve it for you as they sometimes run out. We especially enjoy the Willapa Bay fried oyster appetizer and any seafood or pasta dish they make.

This is our go-to restaurant for special occasions. I would not call this French, their motto is "serious food in not so serious of a setting". Lots of fresh, local ingredients - the chef shops at local farmer's markets and buys fish from the fishermen. Good local wine list, specialty cocktails. But the best is the incredible desserts. You have to save room when you go. This is only good for kids, if they can sit quietly through a 2-hour meal. There is a small kids menu with pasta, grilled cheese, etc.

Wonderful food. A great place for special occasions but also a favorite to grab a burger and glass of wine. My husband and I have lived in Welches for 5 years now. The Vous has become a relaxing, dependable place to eat on a special date or with friends. Great service and warm atmosphere.

Don't believe the bad reviews, if anything isn't right these people will jump though hoops backwards to take care of you. As for the person who called the local raised grass fed beef burger a "stamped frozen patty" and called it a menu bait and switch you are crazy this is by far our favorite place to go and the food and service is local and top notch we have easily been there over 20 times. You will not be disappointed.

One of the best restaurants we have ever been to! It rivals the best in Portland. When we first pulled in I was a little skeptical because it's in a strip mall type building. The interior and decor aren't spectacular but we were greeted with a warm smile. Everything we ordered from the appetizers, entrees to desserts was amazing! Seriously can't wait to go back!

Nice patio atmosphere, promptly served. Nice laid back staff. Good for a day after a big hike. We both ordered salads. Caesar and a house green. Very good. Fresh and creative ingredients such as fried capers on the Caesar. Next came rigatoni with spinach, mushrooms and smoked chicken in a cream sauce. This needed a little more flavor but still good. My husband had the hanger steak. Very enjoyable. Great place we will be back

A bit spendy but the food is great. If you are not going the formal route; hit up the Tap Room menu. The pork sandwich is amazing and only $12. Probably the best food in the Welches area.

We were given this place as suggestion for lunch, but went for dinner. We are so glad we did. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. The salads and entrees were excellent, with unique offerings and sides. Next time back to the area, we are stopping in for dinner.

Hood.

Old Oysters, unimaginative rice, tired side dishes, and LOUD, intrusive ill-mannered guests. Did I mention the high prices?

Really great place to get some delicious food in the Mt. Hood area. I had the miso salmon and it was juicy and scrumptious!

This place was awesome! I had the caprese salad (not the actual name at this restaurant) and the coconut cream pie for dessert. Another diner in my party brought me here during my visit from Maryland and I was not disappointed. She comes here often when she is traveling to that particular part of Oregon.

Delicious meal and outstanding service. The menu features fresh, local produce and the waiter's knowledge of the menu helped to make selection we would really enjoy. The tomato soup and bacon-crusted salmon are two menu standouts!
