I tried this place for take out and it was excellent. The staff was friendly. Was able to sample anything I was interested in and ending up ordering the pork, short ribs, Shoyu and sweet garlic chicken. The pulled pork melts in in mouth, moist and wonderfuly flavored. The short ribs are excellent, plenty of meat on the bone, nicely cooked with good seansoning. I say plenty of meat because the last time i had short ribs down the street at Masitha's the ribs had no meat, just fat and bone. The owner explained thats the way they come....The sweet garlic chicken was my favorite along with the mac salad. I will make this place my new go to place in Tualatin. The price's are good too. Only negative is they have weird times they are open. Went on a Thursday at 5pm and found them closed.

teri beef was rather dry and not as tasty as before. the kal bi was better. seems like business has slowed down a bit.

I've been back to this Roxy's a couple times. Service has improved and the food has been more comparable to Beaverton's Roxy's. And given that this is definitely one of the only spots to get good, cheap, quick eats in Tualatin, I'm upping my rating a full 2 stars.

I didn't finish my order of Sweet Garlic Chicken because I thought the breading was too heavy which made the dish a bit greasy. I tasted the Shoyu Chicken which was a little dry, although a little Sriracha helped save the day. I enjoyed the macaroni salad. The people seemed nice. It appeared that they had a steady flow of regular customers.

First time in based on high marks here. All good so far the mac salad was a little sweet for my girl who is the mac salad fan. The gravy was tasty and the Shoyu Chicken was GREAT

Straight up street thuggin good Hawaiian food y'all. This is a great lunch place for the family and friends. A big plate of authentic Hawaiian for the Hali Boy. I sometimes avoid Roxy's only because I have to watch my weight (like most forty year olds) and my cholesterol. But that doesnt mean I dont think about it every time I drive by. The people that own it and work there are just classic nice people too, they really care about their food and service. Give them a try.

    One word...delicious!

Great lunch place... stopped by yesterday for the first time... the lady behind the counter was extremely nice and friendly and welcoming. Got the shoyu chicken which was great. I was hoping for a little bigger serving - but I guess I'm used to the Noho's and Bamboo Grove large servings (which are much more expensive than the $7 plate here). I recommend!

I just discovered Roxy's today. I've been grabbing takeout from Bamboo Grove when in the area. I was skeptical that the mac salad may not be as good, but it tasted very similar. I have never tried Kalbi chicken either. It was fantastic! This place could be dangerous because I may grab takeout quite frequently :) Mashita's has been a favorite of mine, but I do not consider them the same. Prices here are very reasonable! Going to try the combo plate as another reviewer suggested. Agreed with the sauce comment, this place could have a "secret" sauce which I would like on my chicken yum!!!!!

Tonight was my second experience at Roxy's in Tualatin.... I was so excited when I walked into LIVE Hawaiian music!!!! It was such a nice surprise. The food is great, and they generously hand out samples of some of their most popular dishes. The traditional mac salad is super delicious....Colbai (sp?) garlic chicken is excellent, as is the pulled pork. My husband and I were also handed complimentary pineapple cake after our meal. I will become a regular at Roxy's.... it is clear that the employees want you to love your dining experience. The prices are very reasonable, and the location is great!.. . (near the fountain/lake at the Tualatin Commons).

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I found it because someone had recommended another hawaiian place, that I couldn't find and stumbled upon Roxy's. The staff is extremely helpful, and now that they know my order, they take the time to suggest other things. I get the Kalbi Chicken, with Mac, no rice. I am addicted to the Mac, which I hope is homemade, but I haven't asked. They did recommend a special pork dish, and I found it a little salty, but overall was good and a nice contrast with the Mac. I love the Kalbi chicken because it has just the right amount of sweetness. Usually I take my food out to the benches of the fake lake behind the restaurant, and forget about everything, and then I remember I have to go back to work. Lunch portions are always big enough for lunch and dinner - or an afternoon snack when work gets me down. Truthfully, I would get lunch here at least once a week if I could. And now that I think about it, I haven't been in about two weeks. Guess I just decided what to have for lunch today. :)

Lived in Hawaii for almost 20 years and I don't remember getting a plate lunch this good when I was there. The shoyu chicken, as mentioned several times already, is truly excellent. You get a good amount of food for you money and the staff is super-friendly. Highly recommended.

Found this location by the other reviews. The service was good and they were friendly. They offered samples which we tried. The food was good, and the place was clean. No soda fountain, so it's simple fair, but good.

It was my fist time here. My cousin brought me here. Food was great!! Probably the best teriyaki chicken in town. Staff is friendly. Great ambiance outside. They need more outdoor seating.

I had the Beef Short Ribs recommended to me by a close friend. I was pleasantly surprised by the nice flavor. I was expecting a more sugary taste but none such the case. Rice and a unique Macaroni Salad topped it off, all for around 8 bucks. I will be back, and have been multiple times with no complaints. NICE HAPPENS.

This place is extremely authentic and I love it! I was just on the Big Island a month ago and I am having flashbacks caused by the sweet Shoyu chicken.

  • Hannah K.

Super friendly staff and such a cute little place to get great portions for a great price. I had the Shoyu chicken with one side rice, one side veggies, and one side macaroni salad, all equally delish! Also super nice to be able to eat on the waterfront on a beautiful summer evening. I will be back!

  • Jennie R.

The best Mac salad ever! Only bad thing is they don't really stick to their hours, so call ahead before making the drive. Love the location on the lake. Teriyaki chicken is my fave!

Roxy remains, hands down, my favorite Hawaiian food anywhere. Yes, the service can be occasionally spotty, usually when they are busy or as I was faced with on my last trip, a newbie training at the cash register. But the food... the mere anticipation of my order, simply made me so happy that I didn't mind any minor problems. I just smiled at him and said "It's fine," when he apologized for messing up accidentally. Heck, my anticipation was such that I slurred and mangled my order so badly that I'm impressed that he got it that right in the first place. My go to dish is the Sweet Garlic Chicken with Terayaki Chicken (combo meal) and green salad to replace the Mac Salad. (I hear the Mac salad is awesome, but an unfortunate picnic accident as a kid has left me scarred when it comes to Mac Salad.) Unlike many places that might do one or two items really awesome, one or two good items, and then a half dozen mediocre items, everything at Roxy's is "the best around." I'll occasionally go for the Shoyu Chicken or the Kailua Pork when the mood strikes. I've tried everything on the menu at one time or another (except for the Mac salad of course,) and have found everything to be consistently excellent. The only problem I have is that this location has consistently bad parking. It's hard to find a spot in the parking lot due to all the other restaurants nearby, and the fact that it's part of a mixed use office complex around the lake. But really, this place is "WooHoo! As good as it gets!"

I can't say anything bad about this place. They are fast and the lunch is $7. So filling and the mac salad is amazing.

  • Lexie W.

This was our first time at Roxy's and it was delicious! When we first walked in we were greeted and then offered plenty of samples (every single one was good). I ordered the kahlua pork and a chicken that the name is escaping from me. My boyfriend had the garlic chicken and pineapple chicken which I tried also and were amazing! Huge portions, neither of us could finish our plates and are now looking forward to yummy leftovers!

First time here. Generally love Hawaiian food but this place appeared kinda dirty and very run down. I bet these folks are paying big bucks for this location on the "lake" and they should really have the landlord fix it up a bit. The water was in a big bucket and you had to dip your glass in the bucket to get a glass of water. Really?? I found myself hoping that everyone had washed their hands really well before they scooped out their glass of water. Geez folks, go to Costco and get one or two of those nice dispensers with the spigots for water and maybe tea. I get the plasticware and paper plates, plate lunch style in Hawaii! The service was good, people were nice but the food (pineapple chicken) was way overdone and tough. I don't think we'd really go back at this point.

Here's my experience for the first time coming to this location. There was a gentleman ordering ahead of me. He ordered ate his food and left within 15 min. I ordered right after him. I ordered the teriyaki beef, so I knew that this the plate they have to cook up since this not in the warmers like their soju chicken. However as I sat there waiting for my food to go, I saw another lady come in order and got 4 items filled and gone. While I sat there waiting heard teriyaki beef called up, so I knew my food was coming...however, I watched as the lady spooned rice into a container and hold there as she continued to chat with another employee or patron. So for the few minutes she chatted with him, the were talking right over my rice exposed to their spittle. Then she finally scooped the macaroni into the container and put it on the cook counter for the chef to put the beef in. Now this is where I really got upset, I saw the lid get closed and still it sat at the cook's counter for 5 minutes as she loaded two more plates for another couple and delivered to their table. The counter girl that took my order came from break or and took someone's else's order. As she chatted with the customer for another minute or 2, I finally got up to the counter and asked where is my teriyaki beef order. She turned around looked at the only container on the counter and said there it is. And packed my stuff up. I was livid and just walked out with my food. Now, I've been to the one on walker Rd before and they have always been awesome. This place got me so upset that I can't even enjoy the food I got. So word to the wise, if you aren't in a rush and like your special order cold, then this is the place. I never write reviews, but the blatant unprofessional manner that they were handling my order can only deserve a 1 star. And to think after I got my change I gave them a dollar tip. I will never give tip pre pickup again.

This gets my legit rating. It's not amazing, but it's always satisfying. The Macaroni salad ( crack Mack) has real pieces of crack in it (I'm pretty sure) as it is very addicting, although I will not be seeking treatment anytime soon. I've been on a Kalbi beef short rib kick lately- give it a shot- get two scoops of crack Mack- you have to ask for it or else they'll give you two scoops of rice and one of the Mac.

  • Jenny L.

I crave this place. It can be hit or miss with staff friendliness, but ultimately who cares when I have a container filled with sticky rice and chicken, sweet teriyaki sauce and red hot sauce all over the top. Don't forget a scoop of mac salad on the side. The whole family loves it here- which means mama's real happy. Its a great place to come and eat outside when the weather is nice, too.

  • Tiffany S.

Loooveeeee their mac salad. Hands down my favorite. I have a friend who works here! & he introduced me to this place, and I have nothing bad to say about it at all. My favorite is probably the shoyu chicken & the teri beef! It's super delicious. Must try!

  • Michelle F.

Wow, talk about tacky..the hawaiian themed music gave me a headache and the customer service was eh. Staff did not represent themselves as professional at all, the cook in the back had headphones hanging out of his shirt and my cashier just seemed like he wanted to get everything done asap and get on with the rest of his day. Food was mediocre but decent pricing.

I was born in Hawaii and go back to see my family when I can. I have been to several Hawaiian food places here in Oregon and Roxies is the best! It's so authentic that I even took my parents who are from Hawai'i and they fell in love! The people that work there are always so friendly and sweet, if you go on a regular basis they even remember your face :). Such a great place with an 'ohana feeling!

So good. I'm from hawaii and this is pretty close to authentic. Kalbi, Huli-Huli and kahlua are all great!!!

I really wanted to like this place. Somewhere close by to pick up food.... The Shoyu chicken was pretty good. 4 stars. Soft, good strong flavors. Mainly soy sauce and ginger. Had several other dishes which were not so good. Katsu chicken was no so good. Soggy, not crispy. 2 stars. It might be because we ate it 30 minutes after it was cooked and the steam from the rice int he same container might have dampened the container. The ?kalbi chicken? also was not so good 2 stars. The mac salad was also a bit disappointing. 3 stars. Expected more from the reviews. Also disappointed they don't do kalbi ribs anymore... supposedly the cost is rising and prohibitive to them selling it. The loco moco was ok. Decent but nothing special. 3 stars.

Best island food in town, and the staff treat you like Ohana! Some days they also have fresh Spam Musubi done just right! They take their time crafting perfection, so plan to slow down and enjoy life when you head here!

This is a somewhat small restaurant and kinda hidden but it's a gem! Roxys has amazing food. And their homeade teriyaki sauce is the best and so is their Mac salad Anyone reading this out of curiosity needs to just go

We've had a chance to check out several local favorites and this has been our favorite by far. The place is nothing fancy - they even state that on the wall, but it does have a pretty view over looking the pond. However the view pales in comparison to the food and service. Friendly staff, and the most delicious chicken we've had! I had the sho-yu lunch plate which is a slightly sweet very moist shredded chicken with rice and a scoop of great macaroni salad. This is enough for 2 people, but it's so good you might be tempted to stuff it all down. My husband had the sho-yu chicken sandwich and added mayo lettuce and pineapple - delicious!! We both couldn't stop raving about how good this food was. A definite must!!!!

Three of us ate at Roxy's today for $23. That is a HUGE bargain considering the quality of food and the generous portions. We ate lunch at a Panda Express last week (out of sheer desperation due to slim restaurant pickings and severe hunger pangs) and paid more than that for lukewarm, mediocre chain food! The counter service is very friendly, the menu selection is fantastic and there is patio seating overlooking a play area with a fountain for the kiddos and a pond with ducks swimming by. Pretty serene setting! We ordered 3 lunch plates...the hubby had a Katsu chicken plate, my daughter had orange chicken and I had a combo plate of half garlic chicken and shoyu chicken. Each plate came with 2 scoops of steamed rice and a scoop of mac salad. The orange chicken was extra crispy as was the Katsu. The garlic chicken had just a subtle garlic kick and the shoyu was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The mac salad had crunchy bits of carrot and sliced green onions throughout. Everything we ordered was seasoned well, cooked fresh to order and was served up with a smile. We left with clean plates, full bellies and a wish to return soon to this little slice of Aloha in Tualatin!

Visited Roxy's for the first time today and was disappointed with the Kalua pork. It was much too salty. The mac salad was okay. On the plus side the place was clean, the service was good and the portions were big. They have a nice view of a manmade pond. The prices were average - $17.50 for 2 pork specials and 2 cokes. The specials came with 2 scoops of white rice and 1 scoop of Mac salad. Wish they had BBQ sauce as a condiment. If there's a next time I'll definitely try something different - maybe the pineapple chicken.

Over two years later and I am still going strong. I still hit Roxy's at least once a week. Usually on Thursday for Pork Adobo. Still my favorite Hawaiian around.

JP was craving Hawaiian, so we checked out Roxy's. We were surprised to see on Yelp that there weren't any Hawaiian restaurants that open in the Portland Metro before eleven. Learning that particular fact last weekend just makes me cherish the Hawaiian restaurant Saimin Says ( yelp.com/biz/saimin-says… ) in Kent, WA all the more. Saimin Says is open every day at eight and they serve breakfast. For a weekend breakfast/brunch, we think nothing of driving down from Seattle to eat at Saimin Says, which currently is my favorite restaurant anywhere. Order at the counter and they will either bring your food out or call your name when it's ready. We noticed that Roxy's menu is pretty compressed, but we did see several chicken dishes and a few beef dishes, plus one noodle broth dish. I didn't see Kahlua pork, and would have ordered it if I'd seen it. Is it only available on certain days of the week? JP went with the Sweet Garlic Chicken and I ordered the iconic Loco Moco. For sides, JP asked for French fries and I requested Fried Noodles. The fries, a hybrid between shoestrings and steak fries, were excellent. The Fried Noodles had an interesting spice flavor that was decent (Five Spice?) but the noodles were just too salty. The Sweet Garlic Chicken, served with rice, was fine, though rather salty. And, because the chicken was deep-fried, the dish was very rich. You will be filled when you have eaten everything on that plate. My Loco Moco, which came with rice, a fried egg and two meat patties was good. I liked the smoky barbecued flavor of the meat. Would we come back? We might.

This place is so ono! Portion sizes are defintely not a problem, I have a hard time finishing everything and for such a good price; A little more than $7. You can also mix two kinds of meats at no extra charge. Gotta try their garlic chicken. Nothing else compares. Their pineapple chicken is not too bad. There's indoor and outdoor seating next to the lake and water play area.

  • Valerie W.

As much as I love Roxy's and their Shoyu chicken...I felt like being adventurous today and ordering Kahlua pork. One word. SALT. Is the pork supposed to taste like this?? It was so salty it was almost unpalateable. Even doucing it in hot sauce it was still an odd overall flavor. Afterwards I was left with what felt like some serious sodium overload in my stomach. PROS: Decent prices, overall good food and awesome mac salad CONS: Rice was a bit dry and Kahlua pork was super salty

  • Paul D.

The food looks intriguing, but why must a bricks-and-mortar establishment use paper plates and plastic utensils? That's a big turnoff. Hopefully, they'll upgrade that soon.

Found this place by accident. YAY!!! I like everything but the Hawaiian music was a little too loud (bearable) but that's maybe because I'm older now. hahaha Check it out... very cool crew working there! :)

You know, I like this place. It's a very simple place. We found it while walking around the little lake, pond, whatever it is. Anyway, there was a water feature and we let my son go at it while we ate. The Teriyaki Burger is very big. It's juicy and delicious. I can taste it just by thinking about it. The macaroni salad wasn't as good as some say. I liked the fries. Had a beer along with it, chilled with my wifey, while a duck I named "George," begged for a piece of the burger bun. My only complaint is it could be a little cleaner. A bird had made a nest above the door and of course there was a mound of used worms on the ground just as you go in the shop. Had this strange fear of walking out with my burger at the wrong time. I know you can't move a nest. But at least clean up outside or think of some way to keep our hamburger from getting the wrong type of topping...

  • Josh L.

This place is ok. I noticed the menu only has Beef and Chicken for meat options. I thought Pork would have at least made an appearance. Mac salad is on par with other Hawaiian in the area. The staff is friendly. I ordered a Chicken dish, which was marinated with a delicious concoction. They also have a sweet Teriyaki sauce, which I enjoyed. Overall it was very well prepared. Beverage options are limited and out of a refrigerator case. I would also like to see them utilize their outside space for some seating. I overheard the gal at the counter telling another patron that the Thai restaurant next door doesn't mind if you sit at their "lakeside" tables as long as you are sure to leave no messes behind. I find that people don't like feeling intrusive. So they chose to sit inside. I would go again, there were a few more items on the menu I would like to try.

I really enjoyed the most popular dish, Shoyu chicken. It turned into two meals for me as their portions are pretty large portion. There is a lot of chicken, the rice is perfect, but I think the Mac salad is overrated. It tasted like Mac salad to me with lots of mayonnaise. If that's your thing though, you'll like this! My friend had the teriyaki chicken and thought it was pretty good, but said she's had better. I definitely recommend the combo with the rice, chicken, and mac salad. It was a good combo! The people were very friendly as well. Great to sit outside on a summer day next to the lake!

Great joint for good local food. Mac salad was awesome. Prices are reasonable and service is very friendly. Tried the teri beef and shoyu chicken. Beef was slightly gristly but chicken was stupendous. Want to go back to try more.

The Katsu here is half decent, but the shoyu chicken is delicious! My mom loves the Mac salad here, and trust me, it's great! We come here after soccer games, and it hits the spot

I went there during my lunch break on weekday and I was pleasantly surprised! I walked in and didn't know what to order so I asked what the lady at the register recommended and I was suprised that I got to sample 2 things that she recommended.. I wouldn't have expected to get samples of anything.. The food ended up being very good and not very expensive and was made and ready to go fairly quickly! Overall a very good place to go have lunch!

I missed a UYE Lunch here a few months ago and have been wanting to visit this restaurant ever since. Finally, today I remembered to stop by when I noticed that I had cash on hand. Roxy's unfortunately still has not received their card reader and is cash only. Let's talk Kalbi Chicken. It is a Korean dish normally, but Hawaii being a melting pot of all Asian culture has adopted it and carried on a fine tradition of serving the dish Hawaiian style. Obviously, I had the Kalbi Chicken, and it was really good, but let's go back to moments after I walked in the door... When you walk through the door you are met with a fairly stark white interior. There are some tasteful decorations here and there and a delightful Hawaiian tune was coming through the speakers. You approach the counter and see simmering meats right in front of you, only a pane of glass separates you from nirvana (the place, not the band). Behind the counter was a delightful woman who, even though I told her I knew what I wanted, plied me with free samples of many of the dishes offered. I stuck to my guns and ordered the Kalbi, even though the pork dish and the teriyaki really tasted great. I mentioned really enjoying macaroni salad and immediately I was offered the choice of exchanging one lump of rice for another macaroni salad. Not being a fool, I grabbed that offer. As I sat waiting for lunch a mixture of Hawaiian and Jamaican music came over the speakers. I watched ducks go about their duck business in the man-made lake and slurped down some Diet Pepsi. Out came lunch, and lots of it! Along with two more meat samples and a sample of their Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Can you say, "Customer for life", boys and girls? All for $6.75 (with soda)! The food could be a lot worse and I would still come back for the customer service.

One of the only things I miss about living in Tualatin is Roxy's. It's that good. I am partial to the kalbi ribs with two scoops mac and one scoop rice. It is amazing mac salad, seriously, I am drooling thinking about it. They give out samples if you are undecided. The location is nice in the summer, it is on the Tualatin Commons plus there is a lot of parking. It is a nice, healthish, inexpensive (less than $20 including tip) option for lunch or dinner for two huge plates of food. Usually it takes 10-15 minutes to get your food, not a complaint, just an observation, so don't come in a hurry.

  • Steve H.

I love Roxy's! The atmosphere doesn't quite compete with the original Beaverton Store, but the do have the "Lake" just outside where you can enjoy dining al fresco and beers are available! The staff are just as friendly even if they seem short handed and the food is still very good. My boy loves the Katsu, and I rotate through the menu. The delicious Kalua Pig is available daily here, so no more waiting til Friday! Their Mac-salad is authentic and they use the proper rice as well. The downside, it's too "big" in the dining area as in little bit too stiff when compared to the original. They also run out of items just like at Beaverton, so get there earlier than later to be able to select from the full menu. (It's easier to ask which items are sold out than it is to ask what they still have.) This is good for their bottom-line, but bad for you! Enjoy whatever you get, haven't had a bad item yet! Get your plate, get a popular Heini and eat up!

Food was ok. Got the teriyaki chicken with rice and macaroni salad. All the food was at room temp. Had to microwave the chicken and rice to heat it up. Would have been nice if the hot food was hot and the salad was chilled a bit more.

Extremely mushy and overcooked rice and dry flavorless meat. Mac Salad was good but meal was certainly not worth 10.00. Do yourself a favor and go to aloha grill down the street.

Between Roxy's and Aloha Grill, I give it to Roxy's. Of all the dishes I have tried, I am a fan of their teri deluxe burger with mac salad and a side order of kimchi mmmm. That was the best teri burger I have had in the PDX area. The chicken katsu, sho-yu chicken, kalbi beef/chicken are delicious and flavorful. I hear the garlic chicken is the fan favorite. I have yet to try it but maybe on my next visit! When Kalua is on the menu, I suggest getting it as well. They definitely put you in the mood for local grindz with the latest Hawaiian music. Bring your appetite because looks can be deceiving. Though it's served on paper plates or to go containers, they know how to stuff that plate. Definitely worth the $7 you pay. Seriously try the teri deluxe burger, if you don't like it, then I have failed you as a reviewer.

  • Matt O.

I had the chicken katsu the other day for lunch. Being a Japanese national I am very particular about katsu. I loved it...will be back again soon to try out the Kalua pork dish. Great place for lunch or supper in Tualatin.

Best Hawaiian food in the burbs. Perhaps a notch below Nohos Hawaiian, but still delicious and I crave it often! Their shoyu chicken is bomb. Flavorful, tender. Their plates are huge and a very good deal for what you get, and I like that they serve the Hawaiian guava juices that I love so much. Mac salad is just the way I like it too.

  • Tess P.

Just like being in Hawaii! Great music, friendly service, and good plate lunches. The Mac salad is great, I love the Kalua pork, I wish they had it every day of the week! The location can be tricky, but it's a great spot to bike to, especially in the summer.

Chicken Katsu!. Gravy + Macaroni Salad + Rice = plate of love! Cute little place with on the water in the heart of Tualatin, my new hood, yay! Just moved here so now gonna yelp about some places that I never have couraged to hike and drag myself over to...I guess it was too much highway hopping for me from ol Hillsboro.....anyways...:s This is defianatly a place to return to and try all there other tasty items. It's not a overly huge menu, and the food items are well explained on what they are. Pictures too of the plates. THAT helps. I wish all restaurants had that. Sigh....reminds me of picture books...so easy to understand. BTW ask for gravy, cuz it dosnt just come with items. And gravy is really good. On everything. duh.

The prices are good, the portions are huge, the food is amazing, and the staff is friendly. I wish there was more spam masubi to be had, but that is my only complaint. I definitely recommend if you are craving delicious Hawaiian food!

Our Island friend Gabe M. ate here last week. The story goes.... talking to the owners when after his first bite he sighs, pauses & says, "I'm sorry, I have to stop for a second while I experience a gastronomic orgasm!" His conclusion- Roxie's had the best Hawaiian food since he left the Islands. That was a good enough recommendation for us to try it out too. After all as a high school student, my wife Kathy lived in Hawaii also. Her conclusion- she totally agrees this is the best Hawaiian she's had in Portland. We ordered 2 items off the menu plus one special request combination plate which they handled no problem. Loco Moco, Short Ribs and Combo Kalbi Chicken-Kalbi Ribs. Our meats were the most tender we've had at any Island place in the Metro area. Owner Greg told us how each has it's own home made dry rub to begin with, then are marinated for 4 days in their top secret fruit infused blend. We loved being seated outside on the waterfront. 75 degrees and beautiful was perfect. If our grandsons had been here they could've easily played in the fountain next door while we ate. Friendly servers brought our food to us. The owner Greg joined us for lunch. He dropped some gems along the way. "Hawaiians don't eat til they're full, they eat til they're tired!" Greg says they always want customers to have enough food that some had to be packed to go. As commentary on Kathy's Loco Mocos, he informs us the gravy is made daily from scratch, and the burgers are always fresh hand thrown meat never frozen patties. Kathy gave a hearty endorsement to the dish. My mixed plate was equally good. Meats were the tenderest of any I've had in Portland. The ribs were a perfect medium with a little red in the centers. My total bill amazed me, $17.99 for Loco Moco and combo diner plate with 2 Diet Pepsi's. That is what I usually pay for 1 plate at our neighborhood Noho's Cafe. Greg's explanation- "We want to keep our food affordable. We serve on paper so we can do that. We have a limited menu, but try to add special things from time to time." Coming soon, Greg promises a Happy Hour Menu with special "Pupus" (think Hawaiian Tapas or Dim Sum). He's bringing in a special chef just for that. Oh- he told me one last secret, "I always keep a case of Spam on hand in the back in case someone asks!" So give Roxie's a try! [We especially want to come back for the Saimin. (Greg explained they tested 7 different noodles before they found the perfect one).]

Oh.Em.Gee. Tried the sweet garlic chicken box to go this afternoon. After placing my order I was surprised I had to wait ~5 min for my food. Apparently if your food hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp for five hours, you actually have to give them some time to cook it. Go figure, eh? Every bite was great. If I could take a star away, I'd do it to factor in that they're not next door from my office, but we don't live in a perfect world so I'll let it slide.

Just a short review here based off my experience a couple months back. I got a shoyu chicken plate with grilled veggies and mac salad ($6.50). I loved the flavors of their shoyu chicken. Authentic taste and shredded beautifully, although I wish it was heated a bit more. Nice job on the grilled veggies. Mac salad was also pretty damn authentic, but a bit too much mayo for my liking. Overall, a good meal, and I'll likely return for more!

Though they have a fairly limited menu (~7 meat dishes including sweet garlic chicken, kalbi chicken, orange chicken, and the obligatory shoyu chicken), I was able to sample a few of them and all were good enough to be selected for lunch, but the sweet garlic fried chicken won me over. Large cuts of white meat chicken, dipped in a THICK batter, and perfectly deep fried (with the exception of a couple massive pieces that were too big to cook evenly). And the sauce was quite delicious, too: plenty of garlic flavor balanced with a generous amount of sugar The mac was well above average compared to most of the stuff in Portland (which is usually swimming in mayo). My biggest complaint is, sadly, da sauce...every good hawaiian shack needs a sweet sauce that is 10x better than soy sauce that goes on rice and any meat to make it better! But alas, this was bland and runny (I like mine slightly viscous). The best places (like Local Boyz in Corvallis) have Da Sauce that's so good, they sell it on its own! Improve da sauce, and I think it'll be 5-star worthy!

An aloha lunch in Tualatin. Seven bucks for a nice amount of shoyu chicken, rice and mac salad. Can't beat that. I ate it by the cement pond and found the whole thing to be downright pleasant. Only three stars because food is served on a paper plate with a plastic fork. Eh.

This place is totally awesome. It may look like a dump from the outside and the food comes on a paper plates and plastic utensils make you think that this is just going to be a grease joint. Except the food is excellent and cheap. All the dishes are very tasty. They have kimchi available for cheap. Total for 2 people with drinks was about 15 dollars. The location is right on the pond in tulatin. It gave an excellent on Bionce. If the weather's good sit outside, it is really good place to eat. Even some weekends there's a band playing and a farmers market. We would definitely come back anytime we are in the neighborhood.

Ever notice how certain people's names carry with them personality traits that rise 'n' shine above any other personality characteristics? For example, just about every 'Angie' or 'Jody' (male OR female--but especially male) I've ever known has been either a complete psycho or a zero. Zorras, sin duda. The associations are not always negative, by any means! Some are entertaining, some are thought-provoking, and some are just a little sad. Just about every 'Courtney' or 'Megan' I've ever known was relentlessly hot; every 'Sonja' and 'Sophia' and 'Wanda' were brazen minxes, & forward little hussies (if ever I finally acquire my dream fishing boat, it will be named 'The Brazen Hussy'); almost every 'Jeannie' and 'Amanda' and 'Kathie' had such great promise but alas were lost souls, sad little clowns, irreparably damaged goods. Enter Roxy. Major babe name. Another trend one can't escape noticing about them Roxy Girls: Ono kine grinds! Like the sister store in Beaverton, but trapped in a suburban strip mall o' doom, chock full of the big chain sell-outs: Outback and Buffalo Wings, etc etc. Roxy, you can cater us w/your dreamy nosh any ole time, girl. I was out recently picking up *ahem* my new industrial- strength Traeger grill in that neck of the woods. Thought I'd give this Roxy's a try, since I had already tried the one on Walker Rd and loved it. Though the sign on the door said open all week, 11-8, the place looked empty, and indeed, a 'closed' sign hung in the window next to the door. It wasn't yet 5pm, so I tried the door, and it was open. Rounding the corner to the cashier station, two young women informed me they were closed daily from 3 to 5 pm. Having lived in Spain, I was certainly familiar w/the notion of Siestas; I was still a little puzzled that this info was not made clear on the hours sign on the door. Before I could turn to leave, the girls said, w/big welcoming smiles "S'ok, you can eat" and proceeded to whip up a box of insanely delicious shoyu chicken, kalua pig, white rice and mac salad, blalah style, and broadsided me with a carry-out box, before I knew what even hit me. Then, these little enchantresses refused to take my money? What alternate universe had I just unwittingly entered? I'm not sure I want to leave this plane of reality, if first impressions count for anything! I did not manage to catch their names, those two nebulous and nurturing nymphets. Whatever their terrestrial names may be, as regards the above, those names are automatically now associated w/all that is glorious in the cosmos. Like Roxy herself. Heck yeah! Free, delicious Hawaiian food, courtesy of two of the sweetest, cutest critters, representin' for the deep SW? Easy 5 star rating. Even a Don Macho Guapo cannot count on gratuities every time, so I'd still give Roxy's 5 stars. Like the old song from the 60s says, "You didn't have to be so nice, I woulda liked you anyway..." A lovin' spoonful, indeed----and then some..! You can boo me you can woo me, but you just can't foo' me, this was a little bit of magic in the mix of our otherwise frenzied yet humdrum times......

Tualatin already has a wildly successful teriyaki grill (Mashita's) and okay Hawaiian restaurant (Aloha Grill) and yet I think Roxy's will do just fine. Let's start off with the price. Really inexpensive bento boxes and plates. They offer cans of Pepsi products and Hawaiian juices. The choice of sides include white rice, noodles and mac salad and all are good, with the mac salad being my personal favorite. Roxy's has only been open a couple weeks and it still feels like it is ramping up and working out the kinks. They took over the corner location at the Tualatin Commons (formerly Bush Garden), but haven't put their stamp on the building. The walls are stark white, the booths are worn and they haven't set up outdoor seating along the lake. I really hope they paint the walls and add a little Hawaiian flair to the surroundings. I've already visited three times and even though there have been service issues every time, they have been handled beautifully. On my first visit, they were training the cashier. You can tell a lot about a business when you see an owner interact with a new employee and it was very nice. On the second visit, it was during the Tualatin Crawfish Festival and they were slammed. They handed out cookies as people were waiting for their food. A group of Yeeps visited for a UYE lunch this week and five of us ordered the Kalbi chicken, so they needed to cook a new batch. The wait was long, but they delivered two heaping bento boxes filled with their most popular item, Shoyu chicken, to our table to share. Not a nibble, full plates of food. And of the three entrees I've eaten, I think the Shoyu is my favorite. The Sweet Garlic Chicken was a little too much for me. So Roxy's not only offers the cheapest lunch in town, but some of the most gracious service. Now, I'm a fan of Mashita's, but it can be downright unpleasant to walk in, order and dine in the restaurant. You are always competing for seats and it is not a relaxing experience. So I'm happy that I have Roxy's as an alternative. Due to the increasing crowds I see with each visit, they may also be grabbing some of Mashita's customers. My hope is that both places become pleasantly full during the lunch rush.

We have only been twice, but wonder why we don't go more often. Not only are there pictures of the food, and the actual food right in front of you but you can also browse through the menu. If that's not enough, they will let you sample anything and everything. This is also one of the friendliest establishments we have probably ever been too, and you know how much I eat out. We sat for just over 5 minutes waiting for our food. In that time they cranked through quite a few people. They keep it moving really well and we were there during a lunch rush. We ordered the Shoyu Chicken and the Kalbi Chicken. I make a good Shoyu Chicken, but this was some shredded goodness I must say. The Kalbi chicken was even better, but only because it was grilled. I need to remember I like this one better. My husband did share, so it was all good. I also love macaroni salad, but never choose to make it, so I am always on the lookout for a good macaroni salad. They have an amazing, amazing macaroni salad. Don't skip this. I highly recommend this place. To read the complete review eatingmywaythruportland.…

Roxy made a dream come true for me when their 2nd location opened this week. 3 miles from my house will be quite useful, thank you very much. My previous review of their Beaverton location holds up pretty well as far as the food goes. They recently added Sweet Garlic Chicken at both locations, and I do believe that is my new favorite. It is similar to their orange chicken (also excellent), but a bit sweeter and has a nice garlic infusion. Like the sign says, this stuff "broke da mouth." This will be ordered at each visit, guaranteed. The other items they are known for are available here as well, although I can't be sure they have their amazing teriyaki burger on this menu. Looks like I will have to return tomorrow to be sure. Shoyu chicken, orange chicken, loco moco, noodles, it's all good. Oh, along with the same delicious food, they have the same cheap prices. A substantial plate lunch is about $6.00 and bento is about $4.00. The atmosphere at this location is quite nice. It's more spacious and light than the other location and sits on that small community lake (pond?) in Tualatin that I don't know the name of. There are tables outside and it would be a great place to enjoy your meal. As with the original, they have great music playing. It's worth noting, they hire great people to work at Roxy's. These are some friendly folks that want you to be a return visitor. That is nice in itself, but once you try the food, you'll be back anyway.

Between this new location and the original Cedar Hills joint I've been to Roxy's dozens upon dozens of times. Having said that, I'm not going to rehash the observations I originally made. Instead, I'll gonna offer a few quick hits that may or may not prove useful to you. YMMV. - Both locations are finally accepting credit/debit now. This store has accepted them since their inception, but Cedar Hills hadn't. - Try combo plates. Thursday I tried a pork adobo/sho-yu chicken combo plate and it was OUTSTANDING. I'd had the pork adobo in the past, and while it was too salty for my liking at that time, when it's mixed with the (too?) sweet sho-yu chicken... BAM, your tastebuds will appreciate it. Bonus tip: ask for a bed of rice under the meat, as opposed to the scoops off to the side. The adobo sauce will mix with the ginger-y sho-yu and get absorbed by the rice, absolving any need for teriyaki dousing. - You can choose any combination of rice/mac you want. Default is two scoops of rice and a single scoop of mac salad. Want 2 mac salad and one rice? You got it. 3 mac salad and no rice? Can do. Go wild. - They recently began carrying Hawaiian Sun "Pineapple Orange Nectar". This is a good thing for 2 reasons: it's 20% juice (instead of 10%, which is typical) AND it contains no High Fructose Corn Syrup. I've been on a HFCS eliminating crusade recently, and the addition of this juice at Roxy's pleases me. - This location is larger and seemingly cleaner than Cedar Hills. It's a bit tricky to find, but as long as you remember there are effectively 2 street entrances (Nyberg and the entrance from the south off of Tualatin-Sherwood) you'll make it here easily.

Awesomeness prevails at this small family joint. Everything I have eaten here has been very very good and the portions are more than filling, probably enough to feed a family of four Europeans. My fave is the Shoyu Chicken, just the right amount of sweetness. Add a side of kimchi and you're laughin'. I usually don't even like pasta salads but there is just something special about their Mac salad, can you say MAYO.

Personally, I love the Hawaiian music. It takes me back to good times spent in Hawaii. Roxy's has a very friendly atmosphere. The food seems to be very authentic based on my experience. Bring a big appetite, Hawaiian food is no joke! The friendly guy cooking appeared to be a real live Hawaiian. Hopefully he isn't being held against his will in Tualatin. He is definitely cooking up some mighty fine Hawaiian food. My only request would be more veggie options, although this would not be traditional Hawaiian. The white rice and mac salad are as Hawaiian as it gets.

Gave it 4 stars because the girl running front counter being an airhead. the food was really good to us. Missing home and slim picking of good local food in WA state we wanted to try somewhere in Portland. Hamburger steak off the hook and LOVED the garlic chicken. Definately going again

I am surprised to find a decent Hawaiian style lunch plate joint in the place like this. The outside look of the building may discourage the visitors. The way to place the order and get the food is like the place is the food-cart-trun-into-restaurant. Anyway, the food is delicious and cheap. I ordered sho-yu chicken with rice and mac-salad. The taste is as good as a decent lunch plate that I used to try in Honolulu. I will definitely go back to try more menu items as there are plenty of choices to choose from.

Dropped by this place to get my Hawaiian fix and got the shoyu chicken to go. The portion was decent and the chicken was moist and flavorful but wish there was more Mac salad. Would be nice instead of two scoops of rice there's an option to get Mac salad instead.

This place is awesome, and the food is just as tasty as Local Boyz in Corvallis. Prices were good and the service was fast. The only thing that would make it better would be for them to stay open until 8:30 so I don't have to leave for lunch early in order to get there.

Can't get enough of this place. It's the best hawaiian I've had since Ron's in Eugene. The Shoyu chicken is the best in town.. The only drawback for me personally is that they're only open until 7. Way too early to close, I actually hardly eat here anymore because of the early closing time.

Cool location right on the little lake in Tualatin. Went here for lunch the other day. Service was good, food was pretty solid I had the orange chicken. If I went back I'd probably try something else on the menu, not the best orange chicken ever but it was a reasonably priced lunch.

best hawaiian food in oregon. iv been to most of the hawaiian places in oregon and this place is the best. real hawaiian food at a good price. most hawaiiian places iv been to in oregon their mac is just ok but at roxy's they make their own mac and its soo good. the roxys in tualatin is my favorite, the other one is nice but the one in tualatin you can sit by the little lake and eat your food.

Very friendly service. I had a mixed plate with sliced teriyaki beef and kalbi ribs which come with two scoops of rice and a scoop of mac salad. Caitlyn had the orange chicken plate. Food was quick and really good. Mac salad was very good when comparing to my favorite at Noho's. Portions were of good size, price was good at $16 total, and setting was nice with fountain and pond outside.

Walking into Roxy's I wasn't sure what to expect. The interior wasn't that impressive, and the menu was displayed on the wall with pictures of food. After ordering, I found the the staff to be the most friendly and helpful I've met in a very long time. The food was great and served in very generous portions. Two of us were fed(with leftovers) for $13. Defiantly plan on coming back multiple times in the near future.

I'm a straight up haole girl, but I went to school with a lot of island kids who taught me what good food tastes like. I even got to spend a month in Hawaii for work last year, and it was the best month of eating my entire life. I woke up this morning with a craving for katsu chicken. Did a little yelp search, and wouldn't you know it, Roxy's is just a jump, skip and a hop away from my office in Lake O!! Awesome. Got there, made small talk with the guy working (who was very friendly and personable, I might add), got my plate and rushed back to my office as fast as I could. Oh man.... the mac salad is just as good as I had hoped for, and the chicken--let's just say I'm in heaven right now. This hit the spot. I think I am going to make Roxy's a weekly lunch spot. I am a very happy haole!!

I work a building away from Roxy's, and I've never been to the Beaverton Location. I have been to the islands quite a few times, I would not pass myself off as an Hawaiian food expert, but I think I know a few. I've had more then a couple of friends accompany me to Roxy's (including a couple of those 'experts' I mentioned) and everyone leaves impressed. The staff is friendly, the menu choices are all spot on, everything tastes great...the decor is light, roomy, but very stylish...a Hawaiian feel without the cheese that most folks resort to. You could very easily think that the beaches of Maui were right outside the joint. On a nice day the lakeside seating provides excellent people watching. One of my favorite places in the entire Portland area. Always a good experience.
